Episode #13536 ~ Chloe discovers Gabi and Stefan in bed. Brady finds Maggie passed out. Xander is caught red-handed. A major secret is revealed.

Maggie: [Sobs] Damn you, kate... damn you, victor...

[Dramatic music intensifies]

Kate: So, ari was saying that parker was really upset. I mean, she didn't give any details, but I'm assuming that it is about holly. You know, and I just thought that you might want to leave here and go home and see what's going on.

Chloe: Yeah. Thank you. I'll go right now.

[Solemn music]

Victor: I know that look.

Kate: What look?

Victor: You're up to something. And it's never good.

Gabi: What do you need?

Stefan: Gabi, don'T.

Gabi: You're not gonna get it from chloe. But I'm here. Just you and me... your pain and your grief, we can make it all go away. One last time.

Stefan: I, uh... don't think it's such a good idea.

Gabi: Okay. I understand. Well, it was worth a shot, though, right?

[Cymbal shimmering]

[Gasps] Ste...

Stefan: Ah, damn it.

[Dramatic music]

Nicole: And for a little while... we were happy.

Brady: Yeah, we were.

[Tender music]

Eric: I keep telling myself the same thing. Nicole's gonna get past her anger, she's gonna come back to me. But what if she doesn't? I mean, how am I gonna live with knowing that I destroyed us?

Sarah: Hey. You didn't destroy anything, eric. You are... too good a man.

[Mysterious music]

[Tender music]

Rex: Why the hell do you have holly jonas' file?

Nicole: We have to make sure that the autopsy report doesn't contradict what everyone thinks-- that holly died in the explosion. So I need you to break into the hospital and change her records.

Xander: It's not what you think.

Rex: You're in a restricted area, and you lied to me. You don't want to know what I think. I'm calling security.

Xander: Wait, wait, wait. Wait, wait, wait. I... I can explain.

Male announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the "days of our lives."

[Soft orchestration]

[Tense music]

Rex: All right, you got one minute.

Xander: I just needed to check the file, that's all.

Rex: Why?

Xander: Nicole was my wife.

Rex: And, according to sarah, she hates your guts. So what possible reason do you have... to want her dead child's file? What, to torment her? Share with her the gory details of her daughter's death?

Xander: What kind of jerk do you think I am?

Rex: I have a pretty good idea. Tell you what. Let's take a good look inside this. See what you wanted to get your hands on.

[Suspenseful music]

Eric: I'm sorry. I can't do this. I love nicole. I can't give up on her.

[Melancholy music]

Brady: Mm. Mm. No, no, no. No, no, no, no. I can't do this. This isn't right.

Nicole: But brady, I need you. More than ever now.

Brady: Nic, nic, I'm here for you. But not like this. Not like this.

Nicole: Why? Why? Why not?

Brady: Because you've had a hell of a day. You're emotional right now.

Brady: I think I'm-- I'm trying to help you make the right decision here.

Brady: You just buried your daughter. You're grieving. You're--you're--you're not--

Nicole: Damn it, brady! Why are you fighting me on this? Just forget about holly! In terms of treating sensitivity,

Nicole: I'm so sorry. It's just that I'm so overwhelmed. I mean, I just lost my daughter. And I don't see any way out of this grief.

Brady: S-sleeping with me isn't the way to escape the pain.

Nicole: No, but it-- it would make me feel so much more alive than I do now, brady.

Brady: Nic, nic. No. No, I-I have a feeling you-- you will thank me one day for doing this.

[Dramatic music]

Nicole: Is it because you think I still hate you for blackmailing me out of town? Because I'm really trying to put that behind me. Brady, I'm not innocent in this either. I cheated on you with your brother.

[Stammers] Of course you're-- you were angry with me and you hated me. And maybe... maybe a part of you still does.

Brady: No. No, I don't hate you at all.

Nicole: Can we just... forget about the past and... and how much we hurt each other? And focus on--on right now? This moment? You and me together?

[Suspenseful music]

Kate: I was simply being a good samaritan.

Victor: Where chloe's concerned? Come on. You hate her as much as I do.

Kate: It has nothing to do with chloe. It's about parker, and that little boy definitely needs his mother right now.

Victor: And?

Kate: And what? You know, I'm not the heartless soul everyone always thinks I am. I actually felt badly about maggie just leaving here so upset.

Victor: It's not your fault. Maggie is fragile these days. With holly's death, she's even more vulnerable, to the point of paranoia.

Kate: Does she still think I smashed her damn figurine?

Victor: She thinks you're after me.

Kate: Romantically?

Victor: Are you?

[Dramatic music]

Maggie: [Inhales noisily]

You... ooh-hoo.

[Sobbing quietly]

Gabi: Wow. That was better than a pilates workout.

Stefan: Good to know.

Gabi: And a lot more fun.

Stefan: Gabi.

Gabi: I know, I get it. You're gonna go leave to woo the damsel, lay siege to the castle.

Stefan: Stop.

Gabi: We just did. That's the last time, and I'm fine with it. No, really. I respect your decision.

Stefan: Yeah.

Gabi: I'm not gonna do anything to come between you and chloe. But I gotta ask you. What is it about her? I mean, don't tell me it's her beautiful voice.

Stefan: Don't be cruel.

Gabi: Really, it's-- it's just an observation, what-- what's the attraction?

Stefan: She's got a big heart.

Gabi: That's one word for them.

Stefan: Okay. She's kind. And strong. She's a great mother, does it all singlehandedly, while running a successful business.

Gabi: Hmm. Sounds familiar.

Stefan: I'll never forget the first time I saw her walk into doug's place. She did not hesitate to set me straight. Every time I see her, I feel like I-I learn something new about her that makes me want to get closer to her, makes me want to... be a part of her life.

Stefan: I do.

Chloe: What the hell?

[Intense music]

(Meg vo) I can see if my endometriosis pain gets better...

Stefan: What... what are you doing here?

Stefan: I-I thought you were at the--

Chloe: At holly's memorial? Yeah, I was. Kate told me that parker was upset. It turns out he's fine. He's in the other room, playing with ari, while the two of you are in here playing with each other.

Gabi: It's not what you think.

Chloe: Oh, it's exactly what I think, and you're a pig.

Stefan: Chloe, wait, please.

Chloe: What're you gonna say, that you didn't mean to have sex with gabi? What was it, an accident? You tripped and you fell on top of her? And you, you've been sniffing around here for a while. Was it good for you?

Gabi: I'm gonna let the two of you discuss this.

Stefan: All right, chloe, listen to me. Please, I--

Gabi: Sorry, um... excuse me.

Stefan: Seriously?

Gabi: You're stepping on it.

Chloe: Oh, wow, uh, you are not the person I thought you were, or... maybe you're exactly who I was afraid you would be.

Stefan: No, chloe, please, just hear me out for a second.

Rex: Well, everything looks to be in order. Except for the fact that a kidnapped child was killed when a van exploded, and it also happened to be holly jonas, so what the hell are you really up to?

[Cymbal shimmering]

[Suspenseful music]

Xander: Why I'm here isn't really your concern. It's a family matter.

Rex: No, it's a hospital matter. So if you don't cut the crap and tell me exactly what's going on here and tell me something that slightly resembles the truth, I really am gonna call security.

[Suspenseful music]

Brady: Hey. It means more to me than you know, that you are willing to forget the past and move on... but not--not into bed with-- no, it's--and you know it's not right.

Nicole: Brady. It could help us both get through the pain, don't you see that?

Brady: Yeah, no, I-I-- I want to heal our relationship just as much as you do. I'm willing to do whatever, but... I can't-- I can't cross the line. I can't do that to eric, do you understand?

Nicole: Eric and I are over. Holly is dead because of him.

Brady: I know you-- I know you're angry. I know you can't see it right now. You will someday, and the truth is, eric loves you. He loved holly, nicole, and what happened to holly is not his fault.

Nicole: Oh, brady! Why are you doing this?

Brady: Because I'm-- I'm your friend. I've always been your friend. Eric loves you. And... he should be the one comforting you. It should not be me. It should not be me.

[Door shuts]

[Kate laughing]

Victor: I didn't know I was being funny.

Kate: I-I'm sorry, no. It's just, does she really think that I'm going after you?

Victor: You said that passion was an integral part of our relationship.

Kate: Passion for business. Victor, I'm not interested in getting into your bed. I'm interested in growing your business. You know, when we're not fighting or trying to kill each other, we make a damn good team.

Victor: I can't argue with that.

Kate: You know, at the risk of letting it out that i actually do have a conscience, if--if you feel that our relationship is threatening your marriage, then let's just rethink the whole thing.

Victor: Our arrangement stands. But don't think you can screw with me.

[Glass clinks]

[Door handle shuffles]

Brady: Maggie? Hey. Maggie. Hey. Wake up.

Maggie: Mm...

Brady: Maggie.

Maggie: Mm.

Brady: Maggie, what's going on?

Maggie: Brady?

Brady: Yes, it'S... brady. What's going on?

Maggie: I-I, um... hmm. I must've dozed off.

[Chuckles]

Brady: Yeah, I think I know why, yeah. Hey.

Maggie: No, no, no, no. No, brady.

Brady: What's happening here?

Maggie: No, brady, I-I... I didn't do-- I didn't have a drink.

Brady: It's okay.

Maggie: I just had a really difficult day.

Brady: I know. I know, I know. I think you're forgetting who you're talking to. It's pretty clear to me you've been drinking.

Maggie: [Gasps]

Brady: All right.

Maggie: [Sobs quietly]

Xander: Since you are engaged to sarah and she is the daughter of my uncle's wife, I suppose that makes us practically family, so, if you must know, I was just trying to do something nice for my uncle victor.

Rex: [Chuckles] Do you really expect me to believe that?

Xander: I don't care what you believe. Holly's death has shaken the poor old guy to the core. He's got it in his head that somehow, maybe, the child in the van wasn't holly. He refuses to believe that... that sweet little child has really, truly left us. So, I thought, if I could get a copy of the autopsy report, show him definitive proof that our little angel really is gone, I don't know, my hope was that maybe he'd be able to accept the truth and finally move on.

Rex: Sarah has told me that maggie has taken this very hard. I didn't know that victor was as well.

Xander: You have no idea.

Rex: Okay. Maybe you did this out of the goodness of your... whatever heart you might happen to have in that chest of yours, so I'll give you a pass. But here's the deal. This is a salem pd matter. So if you or victor wants this file, you gotta go to the cops. You got it?

Xander: All right, then.

Rex: Okay.

Xander: Thank you. Thank you.

Rex: Xander. Stay the hell away from my fiancéE.

[Door shuts]

Chloe: I thought you hated gabi.

Stefan: I-I do.

Chloe: Well, you have a funny way of showing it.

Stefan: What happened here, it meant nothing. I swear.

Chloe: Well, what was that? Hate sex?

Stefan: That woman, she gamed the board into forcing me to keep her on. We have been at each other's throats ever since.

Chloe: That's usually not a reason to sleep with someone.

Stefan: I know. I know, but the anger between us, it's intense, and that thing that they say about there being a thin line?

Chloe: Oh, my god.

Stefan: Well, it's true! No, no, no, neither of us have been with anybody for a long time, and-- and emotions ran high, one thing led to another--

Chloe: Okay, wait, stop. I'm sorry, are you basically saying it's my fault for being too afraid of being murdered to consider having a relationship with you?

Chloe: Well, that's certainly what it sounds like!

Maggie: Nicole blamed me for h-holly's death.

Brady: I know, that's-- that's just her grief talking. You didn't do anything wrong. You--you loved that little girl. You know that. You loved her.

Maggie: Victor and kate.

Maggie: No, it's more than that. Kate wants-- she wants victor. I-it's so obvious.

Maggie: A-and h-he-- he--he doesn't-- he refuses to see it, and he refuses to admit it, and I-I need-- I needed him. I needed him to know that, and he chose kate!

Maggie: And it's not the first time.

Brady: Is that all right with you? And right now, we're gonna go to bed, because I think that's the best thing. I think bed would be really good right now. So hand me this. Hand me this. And, uh...

[Stark music]

Sarah: I'm sorry about the kiss.

Eric: No apologies. It was mutual.

Sarah: No, it was just-- it was just the day, you know, all the emotions.

Eric: I know, but...

Sarah: I mean, I have a wedding to plan, and you--you--you have the love of your life to win over, and you will, I know you will--

Eric: Sarah.

Sarah: 'Cause I... I can see how much you love nicole, and I... I'm rooting for you. I really am. That kiss never happened. And it never will again.

[Door clicks open]

[Keys jingle]

Rex: Everything... okay? What's going on?

Sarah: It's just a tough day.

Rex: Oh, honey, I really am so sorry I didn't come to the funeral.

Sarah: You missed some real fireworks.

Rex: Fireworks? I'm afraid to ask.

Eric: The funeral was beautiful, but nicole got upset with me.

Sarah: She kicked us out.

Rex: Oh, god. Eric, I'm so sorry. I really do hope she comes around, man.

Eric: So do I.

Sarah: So how about you? How's your patient?

Rex: She's good. She's good. Stable. But actually, I had a, um, very strange encounter with someone that you both know very well.

Nicole: It's about time.

Xander: How about a "thank you"? Yours truly managed to change the autopsy report in here and on the computer, of course, in spite of being caught by rex brady.

Nicole: You got caught?

Xander: Relax. I managed to bluff my way past him.

Nicole: Why doesn't that reassure me?

Xander: Don't worry. I told him that my uncle victor refuses to believe holly's really dead, so I had to show him the autopsy report to confirm the sad reality.

Nicole: And he bought that?

Xander: Right? Rex might be a doctor, but the man's an idiot. You know, he got all bent out of shape that i bedded his fiancée and might've shown my appreciation recently.

Nicole: You hit on her?

Xander: I mean, a real man would've decked me. Not that he could do much damage, I mean, he's in pretty good shape, but I'm clearly a much more impressive physical specimen.

Nicole: Would you stop?

Xander: What's your problem?

Nicole: You're more interested in a posing contest with rex brady than you are focused on the task at hand, and I need you focused.

Xander: You needed your little girl to appear dead so you could blame eric and dump him. I did that for you. I made that happen. So don't lecture me about focus.

[Dramatic music]

Kate: So, what happened? Did it work?

Gabi: Like a charm.

Kate: Ah. Details?

Gabi: Okay, well, stefan came in and surprised me in my sexy teddy.

Kate: Okay. Not those kind of details. Just the rest.

Gabi: Okay, well, chloe came in and she caught us in a delicious flagrante. I mean, the look on her face? It was almost better than the sex.

Kate: Okay, seriously, just spare me.

Gabi: I'm sorry. Okay? She was just so upset, and stefan was tripping all over the place trying to explain himself.

Kate: And?

Gabi: I don't know, I left.

Kate: Well, what if he manages to talk his way out of it?

Gabi: Oh, please. Come on. With all the indignation, the horror, the "how could you"? No, trust me, chloe is dumping his ass as we speak.

Kate: Okay. Well, stefan is very determined, and he may try to, uh, get her back into his life.

Gabi: He will. But chloe, chloe can't unsee what she saw. I mean, she's never gonna forgive him, and I, I'm gonna be there to pick up the itty-bitty broken pieces of his heart, and that's when I'm gonna marry him and take him for everything he's got.

Kate: Mm-hmm. Unless...

Gabi: Unless what?

Kate: Unless he blames you for what happened with chloe, and then he's going to dump your ass as well.

Stefan: I know this is screwed up. But this is the last time. I told gabi that because--

Chloe: The last time?

Stefan: I wanna be with you.

Chloe: So this has been ongoing?

Stefan: Yes, but--

Chloe: Oh, my--I'm-- I'm out of here.

Stefan: Chloe, please, wait! Please! I told gabi everything. How I feel about you. And that gabi and I, we're nothing. It's just meaningless sex, and it's over now.

Chloe: How many times have you told yourself that?

Stefan: No, gabi called me. She called me and she told me that parker was having a meltdown. And I figured that that was where you needed to be, mourning holly, with the people you loved. I figured I could handle it myself.

Chloe: This is not exactly how I would handle it.

Stefan: No, no, no, I-- I walked in here, gabi was in my bedroom in her underwear.

Chloe: Of course she was.

Stefan: She said parker spilled punch on her.

Chloe: What, and you just couldn't resist?

Stefan: I made a mistake. But I promise you, it will not--look at me-- it will not happen again. I wanted more from

Rex: I had the extreme displeasure of meeting xander cook.

Eric: Why was xander at the hospital?

Rex: He says he was doing a favor for his uncle victor.

Sarah: A favor? Victor can't stand xander.

Rex: Yeah, I-I know that. Maybe he's trying to suck up. Is it--look, who knows? He claims that he wanted holly's autopsy file to prove the reality of her death, to give his dear old uncle victor some closure. I don't know, I think he was playing me.

Eric: No, xander does what's best for xander. The question is, is what's the real reason why xander wants a copy of holly's autopsy report?

Nicole: You know, I was so sure blaming eric for holly's death would just make him crawl up in a little ball of self-hate and he would just go away. But he actually showed up to the memorial service with those big puppy dog eyes, desperate for me to understand and asking for me back.

Xander: The man's in love.

Nicole: Yeah, well, he needs to get over it. The only man I want is brady black.

Victor: How's she doing?

Brady: I have something to tell you, and you're not going to like it. You need to fire kate.

Victor: Why?

Brady: Have you seen your wife? She's--she's a mess over holly. And it's not helping that kate is oozing all over you, granddad.

Victor: There is nothing going on between kate and me. She's critical to titan. Especially now that xander needs looking after.

Brady: You need to fire kate. Before anymore damage is done. You need to do it.

Victor: I'll make you a deal. I'll fire kate when you fire xander.

Brady: You know I can't do that.

Victor: Then kate stays.

Nicole: Brady was so close to giving me exactly the kind of comfort that I wanted. Then he backed off.

Xander: You scare him away?

[Cork pops]

Nicole: I showed him what I needed from him, and then he got all noble. But brady felt our connection just as much as I did. And it's only a matter of time before he gives in to what he never stopped feeling for me.

Chloe: I don't care what you do or who you do it with because whatever relationship we might have been heading towards is never gonna happen.

Stefan: No, no, you can't mean that. There's something between us. You felt it, I know you did.

Chloe: You came here to have sex with gabi hernandez while I was mourning the death of a child that I loved! I'm gonna go get my son and we're getting the hell out of here.

Kate: Oh, my god. You are nothing if not confident, gabi.

Gabi: Why shouldn't I be?

Kate: Well, I'm just saying, what happens if you fall in love with the man that you're trying to destroy?

Gabi: Love, oh... I am so over love. No, this is about money. And it's about power. So after I get what I want... I'm gonna kick stefan's broke and broken carcass to the curb. I thought you of all people would understand that.

Kate: As a matter of fact, I do.

Brady: You know that I can't fire xander. His hire is the only thing standing between nicole and a prison cell.

Victor: This is a woman who took a wrecking ball to your life.

Brady: And I put her through hell.

Victor: Sounds fair to me.

Brady: Granddad, nicole and I are working past our differences. We're resolving our issues. Hell, she's even forgiven me at this point.

Victor: What, she snaps her fingers and everybody's friendly again?

Brady: She didn't exactly snap her fingers.

Victor: What does that mean?

Brady: After I brought her home from the funeral, she, uh, kissed me.

Xander: You kissed brady? Isn't that moving a skosh fast?

Nicole: Well, I had to make my move at some point.

Xander: But on the day of your daughter's funeral, though?

Nicole: Excuse me, but I was vulnerable and sweet and oh-so-sad. Catnip to men like brady who live for protecting the ones they love.

Xander: But he doesn't love you.

Nicole: Oh, shut up! This plan is about one thing and one thing only: Brady. These weak, pathetic fools have no idea what's going on. Ah, if they only knew. Ha.

[Laughs, snorts] Ah!

Sarah: According to my mom, xander is trying to get back in victor's good graces, and she and victor have been incredibly upset over holly's death. I mean, maybe for once in his life, xander actually is trying to do the right thing and... give victor closure.

Rex: I mean, that file would do the trick. It verifies a positive id of the body.

Eric: I think I know exactly what xander's up to.

Nicole: People in this town hold grudges like nobody's business. Being nicole...

[Rubber squeaking] ...Is the only way I could ever come back.
