Episode #13517 ~ Eric is reunited with Nicole. Chloe is reeling from Holly's disappearance as her captors are revealed. Rafe and Lani grow closer as they bond over baby David. Sheila and Abe test out their feelings for one another.

Rex: Jeez, what the hell? I said it was important.

Sarah: Rex, we need to talk.

Rex: I'm so sorry. There's not-- there's no time for that right now. Eric, I literally don't know how to tell you this, man--

Eric: Oh, my god.

[Cymbal shimmering]

[Wondrous music]

Chloe: Stefan! Stefan, get in here!

Stefan: What's going on?

Chloe: Call the police! Holly's gone.

Stefan: What?

[Dramatic music]

Abe: You drinking alone?

Eli: Not by choice.

Abe: What does that mean?

Eli: You haven't heard? Your daughter has a new man in her life.

[Melancholy music]

Rafe: I know I said that I was gonna bring home steaks from doug's place. Thank you for helping me, but I brought chowder from the pub instead.

Lani: Chowder's perfect.

Rafe: I did not want to hang out at doug's place.

Lani: Why?

Rafe: 'Cause hope was there with guess who?

Lani: Ted laurent.

Rafe: Hey! Got it on the first try.

Ted: I should never have bought this necklace. Definitely should never have given it to you in a public place. Look, hope, the last thing I wanted to do is to bring more trouble between you and rafe. I'm so sorry.

[Piano music plays over speaker]

I'll take it back tomorrow morning.

Hope: Ted, don't go.

[Stirring orchestral music]

Ted: Why not? There something else you need to tell me?

Eric: Nicole. You can't be nicole. Can you?

Nicole: It's me. It's really me.

[Sobbing]

[Nicole sobbing]

Male announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the "days of our lives."

[Soft orchestration]

[Sweeping orchestral music]

Eric: I don't get this. I don't understand. I was there. I saw what happened. I prayed to god for you.

Nicole: God must've heard you.

Eric: I've been trying to live with the idea of never seeing you. Holding you. God, I love you.

[Tender music]

Stefan: All right, keep me updated. Thanks.

[Phone beeps]

Chloe: Parker is fine. He didn't see or hear anything. Where is she?

Stefan: I-I just talked to ben. Listen. We did a whole overhaul of the security system, after hector broke in. Ben swears it hasn't been tripped--

Chloe: You're sure.

Stefan: Nobody's come in or out. Yes, I am sure. Holly has to be in the house somewhere. Maybe she woke up and went exploring.

Chloe: Oh, my god, this house is so big. She could be anywhere. But what if she got out somehow?

Stefan: Security's searching the grounds with a fine-toothed comb. Look, she has to be here somewhere. Nobody has taken her. Okay?

[Dramatic percussive music]

So there you are with your depression

Stefan: No, she is not in the house, ben, so she has to be on the grounds somewhere. I don't--I don't give a damn if I gave you the night off, ben! I hired you to keep chloe and her family safe. You promised me that would be your number one priority! Yeah, you do that. And you call me back.

Chloe: They didn't find her outside?

Stefan: Not yet. But ben's gonna--

Chloe: To hell with ben and your security system! I want the cops.

Stefan: I don't think--

Chloe: I don't care what you think. If you don't call the police, I will. You promised me you'd keep my kids safe!

Stefan: All right, you want to call the cops, I'll call the cops. I'll do anything and everything I can to find holly.

[Phone beeps]

[Dial tone ringing]

[Piano music plays over speaker]

Hope: I'd be lying if I said I didn't have feelings for you.

I'm married, ted. And yes, with each day that goes by, it is getting harder and harder to see how rafe and i could poss-- I'm not... giving up.

[Phone ringing] It's stefan, now what? What is it? Stefan, what is it?

[Dramatic music] I'm on my way. I'll be there in a second.

Ted: What?

Hope: Chloe's little girl is missing. I've gotta go.

Ted: I can't believe this. I thought this was handled.

Hope: Yeah, I hoped it was.

Ted: Maybe it's the father.

Hope: No, holly's father's dead. So is her biological mother.

Ted: Wait, wait, wait. Chloe is not the birth mother?

Hope: She's the surrogate for nicole walker. Poor holly, she's already been through so much in this life, and now this. I-I gotta go.

Ted: Stefan dimera's gonna be screaming like a maniac. Let me go with you.

Hope: No. I can handle him. I just pray that they can find holly and bring her home safe and sound.

[Phone ringing]

[Phone beeps]

Ted: Yeah? Let me guess. Mission accomplished?

Rafe: Hope and I can't even talk to each other without getting into it.

Lani: Even after you got shot?

Rafe: Even after that.

Lani: I know that you two still care about each other.

Rafe: It's ted. Ted laurent. The guy has got his claws into her. She feels like I've been neglecting her.

Lani: Have you?

Rafe: Well, I certainly haven't meant to. Yes, I admit that I have done some things that perhaps have made hope feel like-- like she's not important enough, but that could not be further from the truth. But that's how she felt. Feels. If she wants to get back at me, I'm sure that ted would be more than happy to help her out.

Eli: Lani's been staying at rafe's house.

Abe: What?

Eli: Yeah.

Abe: I-I-I knew rafe and hope were having problems, but lani--

Eli: No, no, no. Rafe's not the new man in her life.

Abe: I... I-I'm not following.

Eli: It's david. Jordan ridgeway's baby.

Abe: Ah. I see.

Eli: Yeah. Jordan asked rafe to watch the baby while she's in bayview.

Abe: Mm. Rafe and hope separated because of that.

Eli: Yeah, and ever since rafe took a bullet in the shoulder, lani's been spending all her time over there helping him out.

Abe: And you're afraid lani's getting too attached to this baby.

Eli: Yeah, I'm--look, sh-- she's head over heels for a baby that's not even hers. And I'm afraid the more time she spends over there, the harder it's gonna be for her to lose another little boy named david.

[Phone beeps]

[Moody music]

I don't believe it.

Abe: What?

Eli: Holly jonas has gone missing.

Abe: I-I thought chloe and her kids were out of danger.

Eli: Yeah, we all thought that.

[Suspenseful music]

[Door shuts]

Eric: How did this happen?

Nicole: I'll explain it all, to you and to holly.

Rex: That's why she came here first, eric, to see you and holly.

Eric: Chloe and I, we decided that it was better for holly to live with chloe and parker.

Nicole: Rex explained it to me.

Eric: I'm gonna take you to her now.

Nicole: Wait, I-I can't wait to see her, but it's--it's so late, and she'll be shocked to see me. I don't want to do that to her in the middle of the night, and she might even think she's seen a ghost.

Eric: If she's feeling what I'm feeling right now, she'll think this is a miracle. Can't believe you came back to me.

[Melancholy music]

Sarah: You never came between rex and me. You were honorable and--and decent and kind. But now it's time for you to be honest. With me and with yourself.

Eric: You're right. I do have feelings for you.

Sarah: We should go, rex.

Eric: Sarah, I--

Sarah: No, hey, you need time to talk, alone.

Eric: I don't know what to say.

Sarah: It's okay. Nicole's alive. I mean, there's nothing more important than that.

Rex: Hey, look, I made dinner, for sarah and me. You're more than welcome to eat it.

Nicole: Oh, I-I couldn't take your dinner.

Rex: Oh, no, don't worry about it. It's a casserole that I invented, so not much of a sacrifice.

Sarah: We insist.

Nicole: Sarah, I'm so surprised to see you again. Maggie arranged for holly and me to stay with sarah in nashville where I-- when we left town.

Eric: Yeah, I know.

Nicole: How is maggie?

Sarah: Oh, she's great. She is gonna be overjoyed when she hears about you.

Rex: Look, I'm--I'm gonna-- I'm gonna stay at sarah's tonight, so... nicole, welcome home.

Sarah: Yeah. Welcome home.

-We bought a house in a neighborhood

[Cool music]

Abe: Well. You're multitasking.

Sheila: Girl has to keep her body and soul together.

Abe: You know, you should've been off the clock hours ago.

Sheila: Not with your polling numbers dropping like a fly ball at wrigley when the wind blows in.

Abe: They're that bad?

Sheila: And they're about to get worse. Did you hear about poor holly jonas?

Abe: Yeah, I was with eli when the call came in. It's terrible.

Sheila: I'm telling you, chloe lane ought to pack up those babies and get the hell out of here. She'd be better off, and so would salem's crime rate.

Abe: Salem's her home.

Sheila: Maybe, but to me, ms. Chloe draws bad men like boo-boo draws flies. Come on, have a seat. We got some work to do, 'cause jack deveraux is gonna be all over this. Well, this is one way to swap spit, huh?

Abe: Must you be so graphic?

Sheila: I mean, if my mouth is so bad, why'd you try to kiss it?

Abe: That is not what happened.

Sheila: Uh-huh.

Abe: You initiated the kissing.

Sheila: Like hell I did. Initiate that.

Abe: I've never pushed myself on someone who works for me. You tried to kiss me.

Sheila: Well, maybe that's the way you see it.

Abe: That's what it is, I-- it wouldn't be right for me to do something like that.

Sheila: Okay, fine. Maybe I did try to kiss you. Here.

Sarah: I saw pictures of that explosion. I can't imagine how nicole made it out of there alive. I mean, eric was there. He said there was no way.

Rex: Maybe we shouldn't be surprised. I mean, xander got out of that same blast. He's alive.

Sarah: Weird things do happen in this town.

Rex: Except this time, it happened to... really great people. I mean, nicole is-- she was going nuts waiting for eric to get home, and eric's just been a wreck without her. You okay? D-did I--did I say something?

[Tender music]

Eric: You are sitting next to me. It's so unreal.

Nicole: I know I don't look my best after everything that happened to me.

Eric: You are amazingly beautiful to me. How did you manage to escape that explosion? Do you remember how hard I tried to get to you? You were trapped. You said that there was no hope.

Nicole: That's what I thought.

Eric: The, uh... rescuers... they found this.

[Uneasy music]

They said there was no way you could have survived.

Nicole: I honestly have no idea how I did. The fire was closing in on me. There was... smoke everywhere. I could barely breathe. And I vaguely remember someone coming toward me.

Eric: One of the rescuers?

Nicole: Maybe. I have no idea. I-I must've passed out from the smoke. But when I came to, I was in the icu. I was in really bad shape.

Eric: I'm so sorry. If I would've known, I wouldn't have left your side.

Nicole: I couldn't even remember... my name. I couldn't tell them my name. I-I didn't have an id on me. They had... no one they could call. It took me forever to get back on my feet. But then I got the hell out of there, as soon as I felt I was able to find my way back here, and the whole time, all I could see were your faces and all I could think about... was getting back to you and holly, and I made it. I made it.

Eric: I can't believe it. I can't believe it.

Nicole: Well, believe it. Because I'm never leaving you again. Never.

We believe in the

Hope: Chloe?

Chloe: Oh, hope, thank god you're here.

Stefan: You said hector took a deal with the da. You told us he wouldn't be a problem anymore.

Eli: If the cartel had holly kidnapped, they'd be bragging about it by now. They would've been taking credit for it for what happened between hector and ramon.

Hope: Have you been contacted? Has there been a ransom demand?

Stefan: No.

Chloe: No, there's been nothing. I went to check on her and she was asleep. When I went back up, she was just gone!

Hope: Chloe, we'll find her. Ben's head of security, right?

Stefan: Yeah.

Hope: Where is he?

Stefan: He's out, combing the grounds, looking for holly. Where do you think he is?

Hope: I want you to call him off. I don't want you guys working at cross-purposes with us.

Stefan: Okay, these men are--

Hope: Stefan, I said I want you to call them off. I don't want them getting in the way of the salem pd doing their job.

[Suspenseful music]

Lani: I'm really sorry that you and hope are going through this.

Rafe: Me too.

Lani: You know, she's been through so much with ciara. Maybe she just lost her perspective.

Rafe: Mm. It's happened before.

Lani: What do you mean?

Rafe: Remember aiden? Remember, he tried to kill her on their wedding night.

Lani: Yeah.

Rafe: Yeah. Collect insurance money, pay for his gambling debts.

[Somber music]

You know... I knew that bringing david into our home was gonna be a big deal for hope, but... I didn't know what else to do. I feel like it was the right thing to do, and... jordan, she... she didn't have anyone else to ask but me.

Lani: He's been smiling a lot. He really is a good baby.

Rafe: He is.

Lani: You know, I really do love the brady's pub's chowder.

Rafe: Huh. Not bad.

Lani: I craved it every day when I was pregnant.

Rafe: Honestly, I was thinking that... for you to take care of david, I thought...

Lani: Yeah. That it'd remind me of my baby boy I lost?

Rafe: Yeah.

Lani: Yeah. It does. But, you know, I really don't care what people say. Taking care of david, I don't know, rafe, it's just-- it's helping me heal.

Rafe: Good. What do people say?

Lani: There's no reason for you to be worried about me.

Eli: No. We lost our son. His name was david, and now you're spending all your time with this other baby whose name is also david.

Lani: Eli and I, we, um, we sort of got into an argument, but... it's really not a big deal.

Rafe: No? Well, listen, lani. David's sleeping. He'll probably sleep for most of the night. Why don't you just go on home? I can handle this.

Lani: No, it's--

Rafe: Go fix things up with eli.

Lani: It's okay. He actually texted me about a new case, so... maybe I'll just stay, just--just in case david wakes up.

Rafe: [Groans] Ooh, damn.

Lani: Rafe, are you not taking your pain meds?

Rafe: What? No, I'm just-- I'm gonna gut it out. It's not...

Lani: No, the doctor said you need to stay on top of it.

Rafe: Yeah, well, I don't like taking them because they make me loopy, all right?

Lani: Okay, well, I will be here. Here. Come here. And do not give me any back talk.

Rafe: All right. Yes, ma'am.

Lani: [Laughs] Here. There you go.

[Tender music]

Nicole: Hey...

Eric: Too soon?

Nicole: I know you want me as much as I want you, eric, but I-I don't think-- I don't think you're ready to see me without my clothes.

Eric: Doesn't matter to me.

Nicole: No, but... I think it will. I was severely burnt, I'M... I'm not the same.

Eric: You're beautiful to me.

Nicole: I know you love me for who I am, not for what I look like, but... the thing is, I haven't made peace with what I look like. Hey, you know, it's been quite a day, and I'm exhausted.

Eric: Sure. I'm sorry.

Nicole: No. Don'T. Don't be sorry.

Eric: I can wait as long... I can wait forever. What matters is that you're here with me now.

Nicole: Sorry.

Eric: No.

Nicole: I'm sorry that you had to live this way thinking that you would never see me again. Grieving.

Eric. Hey, what just happened? What's wrong?

Sarah: Rex, it's okay. I'm--I'm fine. You didn't say anything wrong, I just... I'm trying to process nicole being alive. I mean, I'm thrilled. You know that. It's just-- it's so out of the blue, and there's just so much that I don't understand.

Rex: No, me too. So you and eric, you walked in and you said you had something you wanted to talk about with me, and you looked so serious. What is it? Our craftsmen begin each day...

Hope: I have officers searching the house and the grounds.

Chloe: Thank you.

Hope: I'm gonna pay a visit to our friend hector, see if he's in on this. If he is, I'll get it out of him. Eli, can I have a word alone? Excuse me. You need a partner, and lani's off tonight.

Eli: I'll find someone else. You shouldn't be working a missing child case yet.

Hope: I hope this has a happy ending. No parent should ever have to go through losing a child.

Lani: What's going on, big guy? Did you just want to join the party? Yeah? Aren't you glad I stayed?

Rafe: Yes, I am.

Lani: Maybe he's just going through a-a growth spurt. You know, I read that it makes them hungry in the middle of the night. Okay, okay, here we go. Here we go. Here. Here. There you go. Oh, my goodness, yes.

Rafe: What is that you're feeding him? I know I did not buy that.

Lani: I made it.

Rafe: What? You made baby food?

Lani: I did, it's not even hard. And so much healthier for you.

Rafe: Oh, yeah. Things have changed a lot since I was raising two baby girls.

Lani: Sami's kids?

Rafe: Yeah. Little, uh, little sydney.

Lani: Yeah.

Rafe: And baby grace. And sadly, she passed right before her first birthday.

Lani: I'm sorry to hear that.

Rafe: Yeah. Yeah, it was tragic. But they taught me how great it is to be a dad.

Lani: I wonder if this little guy will ever know his father.

Rafe: Hmm.

Lani: Poor kid.

Rafe: Yeah, who knows? I grew up without a dad around most of my life too.

Lani: Me too.

Rafe: Really?

Lani: You know, having him here with you, I know that it's causing trouble between you and hope-- oh, what are you doing?-- But you really are doing the right thing. Don't doubt it, rafe.

Rafe: Thanks.

Lani: Do you want some more? Here we go. There we go.

Sheila: Here. You're off the hook.

Abe: I appreciate everything you do.

Sheila: And thank you for understanding me and me trying to kiss you. I don't even know what got into me. It's not like you're even my type. I mean, you're old enough to be my dad. And you definitely dress like him, and you like country music.

Abe: You made your point. You can stop now.

Sheila: I mean, it's not even like I'm your type either. I mean, you're law-and-order, I have a prison record. You're a college man. I got my education off the street. Just because I'm grateful for this job you gave me that I love and we get along together, that doesn't mean anything, right? Right?

Abe: Look. I like your spirit. And--and you keep me from taking myself too seriously. And you make me laugh. And... there were times when I, well...

Sheila: When you what?

Abe: I'm sure you're right. It really doesn't mean anything.

Sheila: Well, there's only one way to find out. I'm just a normal person who got an awful skin condition.

[Irreverent music]

Abe: So?

Sheila: So now we know.

Abe: Yeah, it was kind of...

Sheila: Like kissing your sister. I mean, at least we know where we stand. I mean, what a relief, phew. I mean, you being with valerie and me working for you...

Abe: Yeah. Right, right.

Sheila: And I hope jack deveraux ain't somewhere hiding out here in the bushes. Last thing we need is for him saying you hooked up with a chick with a rap sheet. Ooh, and I'm stuffed. You want the rest of this crab roll?

Abe: Uh, no, I'm sorry. I don't care for seafood.

Sheila: What? Can't believe that. That's a deal breaker. I wish I would've known that from the get-go. Well, you know what? Go on and take these chips. Munch on these while you kick back and listen to your redneck music.

Abe: Y-you can't say things like "redneck."

Sheila: Oh, oh, we really dodged a bullet. I mean, can I get an amen?

Abe: Amen.

Sheila: Whew.

[Foreboding music]

Stefan: Who's gonna clean all this up?

Eli: I'm willing to bet it won't be you.

Stefan: Hey. Where have you been? I thought you just went to check on parker.

Chloe: I just had to take another look around, look in the closets, under the bed. This is my fault!

Stefan: No, chloe, this is not your fault--

Chloe: No, it is. Brady was right. I never should've moved in here. I should've just been with holly and parker. Instead, I was down here having a date with you.

Stefan: We never left the house.

Chloe: It doesn't matter! I should've been with my kids! Oh, my god, what am I gonna say to maggie and eric?

Eric: Nicole, you're here. I mean, how can anything be wrong with me?

Nicole: I was talking about what you went through and you got this funny look on your face. Is there something that I don't know about?

Eric: It just hit me so quickly how life can change. You know what, I better check on the casserole.

Nicole: Yeah.

It smells good.

Eric: Yeah. I hope so. Rex made it. He's kind of been a experimental cook these days.

Nicole: Oh. Experimental how?

Eric: Well, so far, uh, it's been the, uh, the pepper period.

[Laughs] Then a butter period and a lemon per--do you-- do you know what happens when you put lemon on scrambled eggs? Yeah, it turned into little balls.

Nicole: Ooh, poor you.

Eric: Ugh. Well, it looks good. It smells good, so I better let it cool down for a minute.

[Tender music]

Nicole: I remember, um, waking up in the hospital and going crazy because I had no idea what happened to you.

Eric: Brady hit me over the head. He dragged me out of there. Otherwise, I would've never left your side.

Nicole: Thank god he did. Makes me think maybe I could forgive him for what he put us through.

Eric: Nicole, he knows what he did was wrong.

Nicole: He saved your life. And that's worth everything to me. Yeah, there was a time when the pain got so bad... I thought about giving up. But the idea that you and holly were here waiting for me... that's what got me through this. That's what I had to live for. You and holly.

I love you.

Eric: I love you.

Sarah: Eric and I wanted to talk to you because... it was about the wedding.

Rex: What about it?

Sarah: It seems so trivial now, given that nicole is alive. Are you hungry? I'm starving.

Rex: Um, yeah. Uh... I'll just-- I'll go to the kitchen. I'll see what I can do.

Sarah: Thanks.

[Melancholy music]

I was lying when I said that I was okay with us being just friends. I'm not okay with it. It's killing me. And I pushed you away because I had no hope for us. And if I'm being honest, I said yes to rex because I thought that I could never have you and that you would never, ever be over nicole.

And I was right.

Lani: Hush, little baby

Lani: He's fighting it.

Rafe: Well, yeah. He doesn't want to miss the next verse.

Lani: No. No. Shh. It's okay.

[Tender music]

Rex: How do chicken sandwiches sound?

Sarah: Great.

Rex: Would you mind grabbing a couple wine glasses from the bar?

Sarah: Mm-hmm.

Rex: Thanks. I thought that we could toast to nicole being alive and back.

[Melancholy music]

Sarah: My mom made her lemon bars.

Rex: Can you do me a favor? Can you tell her that you ate both of those lemon bars?

Sarah: She doesn't hate you.

Rex: I know that she doesn't hate me. But she also doesn't like me very much. I mean, even after I told her about will's tumor being benign. Here. You know what? To my brother eric. May he be as happy as I am right now.

Nicole: Tomorrow night, the dishes are mine. What?

Eric: We just had dinner together. We're talking about tomorrow.

Nicole: Yeah. Yeah, we never got to do this, ever. I am so tired.

Eric: Well, you just close your eyes.

Nicole: What if i fall asleep?

Eric: Then you can lay in my arms all night long, and I will be holding you in the morning. And then I'm gonna take you to see your daughter.

[Stirring music]

Chloe: Hey. What happened?

Hope: I threatened to revoke hector's plea deal if he wasn't straight with me. He swears he and his guys had nothing to do with it.

Stefan: You believe that?

Hope: I didn't say that, stefan.

Eli: There's still no sign of holly.

Chloe: Well, if she's nowhere in the house and hector's men don't have her, then where the hell is she?

[Dramatic music]

Rafe: Hey, you here?

[Door handle shuffles]
