Gabi: Okay, here we are, casa hernandez.

Stefan: Hmm. Very nice.

Gabi: Well, it's a far cry from the dimera mansion, but it's cozy.

[Door closes]

Stefan: Very cozy. How you doing, gabi?

Gabi: Better. Much better. Thank you for everything you did for me tonight.

Stefan: Yeah, you don't need to worry aboutny of this. Rafe will be back to himself tomorrow, and you and I will be back to fighting like cats and dogs.

Gabi: Oh, I've missed that.

Stefan: Right?

Gabi: Yeah.

Stefan: I mean, this whole being civil to one another, it's a little tiresome.

Gabi: Yeah, totally agree.

Stefan: Yeah.

[Cell phone rings] It's my security.

Gabi: Mm-hmm.

Stefan: Hey, you better have good news or you're gonna be flipping burgers in a roadside diner outside baraboo, wisconsin tomorrow.

Gabi: You destroyed my life, you framed me for murder, kidnapped me, put a hot poker in my face.

Stefan: None of that changes the fact that you want me.

[Soft dramatic music]

No, no, no, hector's too smart to go back to the house with a hostage. Did you send somebody over to the salem inn to be with chloe? No. No, no, no, no, send bobby. He got a better look at hector. Any word from ben? All right. I'll be home soon.

[Cell phone beeps] I should get going.

Gabi: Yeah.

Stefan: You sure you're okay staying here by yourself with hector still on the loose?

Gabi: I think he's gonna wanna stay as far away from salem as possible. Especially without ciara.

Stefan: You're not answering my question.

Gabi: What do you mean?

Stefan: You've been through hell today.

Gabi: Well, I guess you just left me a little shaken up.

Stefan: What the hell are you doing?

[Footsteps approaching]

Maggie: I just spoke to sonny. He's still at the hospital.

Victor: How's will?

Maggie: His biopsy is over and he's resting.

Victor: Any results?

Maggie: Not yet. Sonny tells me that he'll be home in time to put arianna to bed. What is the matter with me just prattling on about will's biopsy when you obviously have urgent business to deal with.

Victor: I'm sorry.

Maggie: Can you tell me what is so staggeringly important?

Victor: It's kate's financial analysis of titan.

Maggie: Oh, dear lord. The nerve of that woman, thinking you would hire her back. Tell me, victor. You will never hire her back. You have got to be kidding me.

Ted: Chloe and holly are staying at the salem inn tonight. No, I don't know for how long. Well, if chloe goes back to the mansion, I will let you know. Bye.

[Cell phone beeps]

Kate: Why are you keeping tabs on chloe? And who were you talking to?

Rafe: I really wish I hadn't been shot. I don't feel quite up to finding ted laurent and beating the crap out of him.

Eli: I think you need to get some rest, man.

Rafe: Hey, did that creep give any indication of who he was talking to or what he was up to?

Eli: No. But from half of his conversation, it sounded pretty shady. And he sure as hell doesn't want hope knowing anything about the call.

Rafe: Ah. So now you know what I've always known: That his "changed man" thing was just a crock of... now how do we get hope to see it too?

Hope: She's leaving us clues. She's still fighting, ben.

Ben: Ciara's like you, hope. She doesn't give up.

Hope: Yeah, well, they're on foot. They couldn't have gotten far.

Ben: But we don't even know which direction they're headed.

Hope: We're gonna split up. Let's split up. See what else we can find that she left behind. You go that way. Go.

Ciara: You know, you didn't strike me as stupid.

Hector: You better watch your mouth.

Ciara: And you better use your head. If you shoot me, you're dead meat. Your call.

[Tense music]

[Soft orchestration]

Eli: So, are you gonna tell hope about the call?

Rafe: I don't know yet. I'm not doing anything till we find ciara.

Eli: Whoa, hey, hey, hey. Rafe, I think we're gonna have to find ciara by ourselves.

Rafe: [Groans] Yeah.

Eli: Why don't you get some rest so hope doesn't have to worry about you too?

Rafe: That's great.

[Groans] It's great. Hope needs me yet again and I'm not there.

Hope: [Breathing heavily]

[Footsteps approaching]

Ben: Nothing.

Hope: I checked in with the station. We have patrol cars everywhere, and nobody has seen her or hector.

Ben: Where the hell did they go?

[Sirens wailing]

Ciara: You have one and only one way out of here, hector, and that requires me being alive.

Hector: Your concern for my well-being is quite moving.

Ciara: About a half an hour ago, you shot a cop. My mother is the police commissioner. My father used to be a cop. Hell, I spent half of my childhood in the squad room...

Hector: Shut up!

Ciara: And I'm related to half the force! Do you know how many people are gonna be looking for me, hector? How personal it is to them? You think you and your cartel boys really have a corner on revenge? Look outside. That's right. Look outside and see. See that you won't be able to wait 30 seconds without seeing a patrolling squad car.

Hector: I said shut up!

Ciara: They're looking for me, hector!

Hector: [Quietly] Shut up.

Ciara: Let me call my mom.

Hector: No.

Ciara: I can negotiate for you. You have one and only one card to play here, hector, and that is me... alive. In terms of treating sensitivity,

Maggie: I know you enjoy being perverse, but hiring kate would be madness.

Victor: She still knows her stuff.

Maggie: Stuff? Like poisons and fireplace pokers?

Victor: Oh, I never should have told you about all that stuff. You never let anything go.

Maggie: Wasn't it just last year that she tried to destroy titan? Do you remember what sonny went through because of her? And you're talking about climbing back into bed with her? So to speak.

Victor: She was being blackmailed.

Maggie: [Scoffs] What a surprise that anyone would find any dirt on her. Being so morally upright and all.

Victor: Let me guess. You don't like her very much, do you?

Maggie: Damn it, victor. I am just worried about what she's gonna do to you. And you're thinking about hiring her? Okay. Why are you looking at me like that?

Victor: Because I just figured out why you're so upset about all of this.

Maggie: Well, isn't it obvious?

[Scoffs] I don't trust her.

Victor: Well, that too. But mainly it's, you're jealous.

[Both chuckle]

[Exhales sharply]

[Indistinct radio chatter]

Ted: So you know that chloe lane was attacked by the cartel tonight.

Kate: It's odd to find oneself rooting for a cartel. You know?

Ted: Well, I was keeping abe posted. As a da, I like to keep my star witness alive to testify, and make salem safe again.

Kate: Oh, I see. So the sinner is now, what? Walking the path of righteousness?

Ted: I'm a changed man.

Kate: Yeah... aren't you all? Why don't you try telling the truth for a change and just admit that this whole redemption routine is just a way of getting into hope's pants?

Ted: [Chuckles] It's a little bit more than that, kate. We share core values.

Kate: Oh, yeah, I'm sure you do. You know, maybe she isn't smart enough to realize that it's all an act, but rafe is.

Ted: I don't think rafe's opinion will matter to hope anymore... since he walked out on her and went back to casa hernandez.

Gabi: I don't know why I did that.

Stefan: I don't either.

Gabi: Mm-hmm.

Stefan: You hate me, gabi.

Gabi: True, but...

Stefan: Yeah. But what?

Gabi: I just saw this other side of you, I guess.

Stefan: What side?

Gabi: Well, the more sensitive. The one that isn't arrogant, rude, smarmy, and full-of-himself side.

Stefan: Oh, that one.

Gabi: Mm-hmm, and... it's also been a long day, okay? I'm scared to death for rafe and you were being really nice to me, and you were acting genuinely compassionate, so I was just showing you my gratitude.

Stefan: [Laughs] That move right there? That did not seem like gratitude to me.

Gabi: What?

[Scoffs] So what? Would you have preferred a box of chocolates?

Stefan: Yeah, that would have been more appropriate, and just so you know, I do like chocolate for future "expressions of gratitude."

Gabi: Well, you know what? It was just an impulse. That's it. No big deal.

Stefan: "No big deal"?

Gabi: Nope.

Stefan: I'm not saying it was a big deal. I'm just wondering why you were so willing to humiliate yourself.

Gabi: What are you talking about, humiliate myself? Because I kissed you? That's not humiliating. You kissed me back.

Stefan: I--[Clears throat] You caught me off guard.

Gabi: So you could have pushed me away.

Stefan: I should have. Give me another chance.

Gabi: What?

Stefan: To push you away.

Gabi: Oh, god no. No, that's not gonna happen, see, because I just remembered from talking to you that I can't stand you.

Stefan: Oh. Nor can I stand you, gabi, but as you've stated, you have needs. You've been thinking about rafe and the cartel and all of that has obviously gotten your adrenaline going, and that, as we both know, causes us to do things that we wouldn't normally do. Like, say, give us superhuman strength to lift a car, for example, or give us the courage to kiss someone that you know can't stand you with every cell of his being, and wishes you would just vanish off the planet.

[Exhales sharply] It's a kind of high.

Gabi: That must be it then. That must be, and, damn, I wish I would have had a car to lift.

Stefan: Me too.

Gabi: You know what? There will be no further kisses. I can promise you that.

[Chuckles]

Stefan: Good.

Gabi: And after tonight, we can go back to hating each other as much as we'd like. 'Cause the moment's passed, right?

Stefan: Right.

[Dramatic music]

Ciara: Hey, you know I'm right, right? You know that I'm right. I'll call my mom. Let me call her and I can get you anything you want. I can-- I can get you anything.

Hector: Call her. Call her.

[Tense music]

[Cell phone rings]

Hope: Brady.

Ciara: Mom? It's me.

Hope: Oh, my god, ciara. Hey. Where are you? Are you okay?

Ciara: Yeah, yeah, I'm okay.

Hector: We'll get to that later. Commissioner brady, I'm sorry I shot your husband.

Ciara: Is rafe okay?

Hope: He's gonna be fine.

Ciara: Mom, listen to me.

Hector: All I want is to get out of the country.

Hope: Fine. Fine. Whatever you want. As long as nothing, and I mean nothing, happens to my daughter.

Hector: You have my word. I'll text you my demands and the location of the tradeoff, but first, you have to call off your cops. If I see a glimpse of a squad car, it will be very bad for ciara.

Hope: I'll get right on it. It could take some time. Don't overreact.

Hector: Commissioner brady, I am in full control of everything.

[Cell phone beeps]

[Cell phone beeps]

Ben: What the hell is going on?

Hope: He's offering to trade ciara for a way out.

Ben: Do you trust him? Do you trust him, hope?

Hope: No. But it may be the only way we can get her back alive.

Stefan: No more.

Gabi: Yeah, mm-hmm.

Stefan: Oh, this-- ah, enough. That is a bad idea.

Gabi: Yep, that is enough. That is a bad idea.

Stefan: [Exhales] I should get going.

Gabi: Yep, did you want something to go? Juice, water, soda?

Stefan: No, thanks.

Gabi: I have arroz con pollo from yesterday if you want some.

Stefan: Not hungry.

Gabi: Mm, me neither.

Stefan: Well, then... I'm gonna go.

Gabi: God, you are so hot.

Stefan: What?

Gabi: I'm just saying that you are hot. Look, I'm giving you a compliment, okay? Your eyes, they're just... so captivating in this light and alluring.

Stefan: "Alluring"?

Gabi: Yeah, your eyes look nice.

Gabi: Thank you. I never thought that I was pretty. It's probably because I was chubby when I was little.

Stefan: You, really?

Gabi: Mm-hmm. Had a thing for chocolate chip cookies and ice cream, any flavor.

Gabi: Well, it doesn't come easy. I workout like a maniac every single day.

Stefan: It shows.

Gabi: Have I told you... thank you for helping me today? It was a really awful day.

Stefan: Yeah, you thanked me.

Gabi: I mean, I'm pretty stoic, but when it comes to my brother...

Stefan: You mentioned that you two were very close.

Gabi: Yeah, he's the only person I can count on. The only person I feel like I can trust.

[Scoffs] Pretty cynical. Especially about human beings, you know?

Stefan: Oh, yeah, I'm right there with you. Humans, I could totally live without 'em.

Gabi: Yep, except for...

[Chuckles]

Stefan: What?

Gabi: I mean, I do get lonely sometimes. Don't you?

Stefan: Sometimes.

Gabi: But, I mean, I am pretty resourceful. I find some ways to keep myself busy. Read a book or watch a movie. Learn an instrument.

Stefan: [Chuckles] What? Sorry. What instrument?

Gabi: Keyboard, actually. I got one for myself last christmas.

Stefan: Oh. Well, I'd say I'd like to hear you play sometime, but--

Gabi: But we hate each other with a vengeance, and just because we're being civil with each other doesn't mean--

Stefan: Doesn't mean it's gonna last.

Gabi: Or should it.

Stefan: Or will it. In fact, I'm going to get going.

Gabi: Hey, you have something in your hair. Can I-- do you mind if I--

Stefan: Go ahead.

Gabi: Okay. There you go. So now that is much, much better.

[Dramatic music]

Lani: Wow. Talk about a sense of urgency.

Gabi: [Grunts] What the hell are you doing here?

Stefan: [Clears throat]

Eli: I don't think you should beat yourself up. You did save dimera's life tonight.

Rafe: Hmm, yeah. I may live to regret that one.

Eli: Hope knows that you'd be there for her if you could, and she knows that you love her.

Rafe: Does she? Hmm? Does she really? I mean... all we do is fight these days. I managed to let her down, disappoint her, time and time again.

[Exhales] What the hell was I supposed to do, man? What--just forget about johnny? The kid needed me. He-- he was depressed. Depressed about his dad. About everything. Yeah, hope needed me, but... not like that.

Eli: But she didn't understand?

Rafe: No. No, she didn't get it. She didn't get it why I want to raise little david either. Okay, so, you know, maybe I overreacted... when I found out that laurent kissed her, and he had professed his love for her, but...

Eli: That dude's got some nerve.

Rafe: Yeah. Yeah, but maybe hope's disappointment in me has led to her... vulnerability with ted. Maybe if I hadn't let her down so much, she'd see what a jerk... that guy really is.

Eli: Well, I'm sure it's just a bad patch. You guys will get over it.

Rafe: Yeah. Yeah, I hope you're right, man. But it sure doesn't feel that way.

Ted: So it looks like the brady/hernandez honeymoon is officially over.

Kate: [Sighs] Why would rafe have anything to do with raising that baby? Jordan's baby? I mean, between clyde and ben and jordan, I mean, that kid is not swimming in the best gene pool.

Ted: Because rafe is an idiot. He always put other people ahead of hope.

Kate: Oh, and I suppose you're gonna prove to her that your different?

Ted: I will be.

Kate: Yeah, okay. Well, good luck with that. But I still have to say, I don't think miss law and order is going to fall for a sociopath.

Ted: No? I came right out and told her to leave rafe for me, and you know what, kate? She's seriously considering it.

Kate: [Laughs]

[Cell phone beeps]

Ben: Hope, tell me that's hector. Did he say where the tradeoff is gonna be?

Hope: I gotta go.

Ben: Where?

Hope: I can't risk having a civilian at the scene.

Ben: "Civilian"? Hope, damn it, I wanna help you!

Hope: I get that! I get that. I do. But right now, the best thing for ciara is for you to stay out of the way.

Ben: That's the best thing--

Hope: Listen to my words! You let the swat team do their job, and I...

Ben: Oh, my god.

Hope: Listen. I promise you, I will call you the moment I know that she's safe. Do it.

Ben: I'll be waiting.

[Cell phone beeps]

[Line trilling]

Hope: Hey. I got the location. I need a swat team at the riverside motel asap. Establish a perimeter, make it big. No, we have to stay out of his sight. No one makes a move until I give the word. Do you hear me?

[Cell phone beeps]

Ciara: You did the right thing.

Hector: Yeah, thanks for the advice. I think things are gonna work out just fine.

Ciara: They will. My mom will keep her word. You can trust her.

Hector: You really think I'm gonna trust the salem pd? As you pointed out, I just shot one of 'em.

Ciara: But you just told--

Hector: What I told your mom was a stall. By the time the cops get here, you and I will be long gone. (Brian) I've had a heart attack,

Maggie: For heaven sakes. Why would I be jealous of kate? Or anyone else? And what in the world would even give you that idea?

Victor: You're the one talking about getting back into bed with her.

Maggie: Figuratively. So to speak. I am just-- I'm just looking out for your best interest.

Victor: You always do, and I love you for it.

Maggie: [Exhales sharply]

Victor: Suppose I told you that I wasn't hiring kate for her... business acumen?

Maggie: So, just what are her other assets? Her loyalty? No. Her honesty? Mm-hmm. She makes good coffee, hmm?

Victor: She's philip's mother.

Maggie: Ah. So she is.

Victor: You know that... we haven't been getting along too well since he left.

Maggie: Well, it wasn't exactly "father knows best" before he left.

Victor: Well, hiring kate could be a step in the right direction of patching things up.

Maggie: That doesn't make any sense at all.

Victor: She's philip's mother.

Maggie: Do you actually think she, what, will put in a good word for you? She doesn't give a damn that you and philip aren't getting along. She probably prefers it this way. More filial love and loyalty for her if she doesn't have to share it with you.

Victor: Maggie, I... I think you're wrong about kate. I mean, she may be untrustworthy, but she's a good mother. She would want her son to have a decent relationship with his father.

Maggie: Fine. But, victor, if it's true, and hiring her back will help you patch things up with philip, do you really want to work side by side with the woman who hired a hit man to kill you?

Kate: Hope is seriously considering leaving rafe for you?

Ted: That's right.

Kate: Someone really needs to teach that woman about frying pans and fire.

Ted: Kate, I don't know why you're so negative, but why wouldn't hope be attracted to me? You were.

Kate: Oh, I am willing to admit that you're a very attractive package, but underneath all the pretty, there's a backstabbing son of a bitch.

Ted: Thank you. But don't you find this a tad hypocritical? You're not exactly a beacon of moral rectitude.

Kate: You went after my family, teddy. That wasn't very smart.

Ted: And I have apologized for it. And besides, my old ways are behind me now.

Kate: [Scoffs] Oh, whatever. But rafe is going to be watching you like a hawk, and believe me, he's really, really good at his job,

Gabi: I asked you a question. What are you doing here?

Lani: Your bother asked me to watch the baby. Hi, mr. Dimera. You come here often.

Stefan: Yeah, gabi, I think i better get going. Call me if you need anything.

Lani: Don't forget to button up. There's a chill in the air.

Gabi: That is not funny.

Lani: No, not funny at all. Just two people who loathe each other going at it on the kitchen table.

Gabi: I have had a terrible day, and I really don't think--

Lani: Yeah, it didn't look like you were thinking at all.

Gabi: Who are you to judge? The person that cheated on their boyfriend, which they stole from me, and then got pregnant by another man?

Lani: Wow. Gabi, you would really bring that up?

Gabi: Well, you're looking at me like I robbed some bank or something.

Lani: I'm looking at you like that because you and stefan dimera are about to have sex right in the middle of the kitchen.

Gabi: Whoa. No one was gonna have sex, okay? We were just kissing.

Lani: Right.

Gabi: And by the way, this is my kitchen. Not yours. I can kiss whoever I want in here.

Lani: You know, what--just a little wonderful free spirit you are, gabi. But do you ever think about anybody else? Like your brother. What if he came in here instead of me?

[Cell phone beeps]

Eli: All right, fine. Clearly, you're not gonna relax and do what you're told, so I'll give you a ride.

Rafe: All right.

Eli: I'm sorry. This is hope. She needs me. I gotta go, man.

Rafe: All right, fine. I'll catch a ride. Hey, tell her I love her.

Eli: Yeah.

Rafe: And ciara too.

Eli: I will. Take it easy.

Rafe: Keep me posted.

Ciara: Don't do this. Don't do this. You're making a huge mistake.

Hector: I'm sorry, but your mommy doesn't have the power to make this deal. The feds are never going to let a member of the drug cartel out of this country alive. I know they're gonna double cross me, so I'm gonna double cross them first. Now come on. We gotta get out of here.

Ciara: No, you can get out of here yourself. I'm not going. I'm only gonna slow you down. I'm only gonna-- I'll even stall them when they get here. I swear.

Hector: Not a chance. Besides, you're a pretty handy insurance policy. Now get moving!

[Tense music]

[Door crashes]

[Both grunting]

[Suspenseful music]

Ted: It doesn't really matter if you believe that I've changed or not. Hope does.

Kate: She's a fool. I know you. I know your type always has an agenda.

Ted: You know what your problem is? You've never been in love, and when you see other people in love, happy, making plans, you have to tear them down.

Kate: Honey, you wouldn't know love if it slapped you across the face.

Ted: And I'm not gonna let you do that to us.

Kate: [Scoffs] Oh, god.

[Cell phone rings]

[Cell phone beeps] Hello, victor.

Victor: Come by the house. We need to talk.

Lani: Rafe was shot and they took ciara?

Gabi: But rafe is gonna be okay. Eli's with him.

Lani: He must be going out of his mind about ciara. I really need to check in with the station. Can you watch david.

Gabi: No, actually, I have to go back and get my phone from the dimera house. I left it there.

Lani: Gabi, can't it wait?

Gabi: No, I need to get my phone.

Lani: Yeah, you really need something, but I don't think it's your phone.

Hope: What did the fbi say?

Eli: They're arranging for a helicopter, but I gotta admit, they got a lot of reservations about hector's demands.

Hope: Yeah, well, I don't care. He has ciara. We do what he wants. How's my husband?

Eli: He'll be okay, but he lost a lot of blood, so he's woozy and he's hopped up on painkillers. I still had to stop him from coming down here with me.

Hope: That would be my husband.

Eli: He told me to tell you that he loves you, and that he's praying for ciara.

Hope: Thank god he's all right. I was scared to death that... and now ciara.

Eli: How's things at the motel?

Hope: It took everything in me not to go over there, but I knew we needed to coordinate everything here first. I just heard the swat team is evacuating all the other rooms.

Eli: Hey, hope... you okay?

Hope: I have to be.

[Both grunting]

[Suspenseful music]

Ciara: Stop! Ben!

[Crying] Ben!

Hector: Come on! We gotta get out of here! The cops will be here any minute.

Ciara: No, we can't just leave him like this.

Hector: You're right.

Ciara: No.

Gabi: Was that chloe? How is she?

Stefan: Fine. What're you doing here?

Gabi: Oh, I left my phone. Hector threw it across the room. It must be here somewhere.

Stefan: Uh-huh. Harold picked it up. Here.

Gabi: [Chuckles wryly] So I guess I should go, unless...

Stefan: Unless what?

Gabi: Never mind.

Stefan: No, tell me.

Gabi: Unless you want to finish what we started.

Lani: Hey. I was just trying to call you.

Rafe: Hey.

Lani: Gabi told me what happened. Are you okay?

Rafe: Uh, yeah. Just a little woozy, otherwise, I'D... be out there looking for ciara.

Lani: Any news on that?

Rafe: Well, hope texted eli, said that she needed him, and I'm waiting for an update. How's everything here.

Lani: It was good. Quiet. I put david to sleep about an hour ago. Hopefully, he sleeps through the night.

Rafe: Yeah, I wouldn't count on that. Anyway, thanks for this.

Lani: Of course. I really enjoyed it.

Rafe: Yeah, cool. All right, well, I'm sure you wanna get home, so I'll take over from here.

Lani: Mm, you're gonna change some diapers with one hand?

Rafe: Yeah.

Lani: Yeah?

Rafe: I'll handle it.

Lani: Okay, don't be ridiculous, rafe. Go upstairs and get some rest, and I'll stay over and watch david.

Ted: Hope, I just heard about ciara. What can I do?

Hope: This is hector. He's very violent and unpredictable.

Eli: We just got the green light.

Hope: Let's go.

Ted: I'm coming with you.

Hope: No, no, you stay here. No civilians allowed. Go.

[Suspenseful music]

Hector: Move away from him!

Ciara: Mom?

[Grunting] You son of a bitch!

Hector: You bitch.

Ciara: [Grunts]

Ciara: [Crying]

Hope: Oh, baby.

Ciara: Mom, hector was gonna double cross you. If ben hadn't come when he did, hector would have taken me with him. I would have been gone.

Hope: You're not hurt? You're okay? Are you all right?

Ciara: No, I'm okay...

Hope: You sure, baby?
