[Loud knocking on door]

[Softly] My god. Hey!

Lani: [Whispering] Hey.

Rafe: Just finally got him to sleep.

Lani: Nice work.

Rafe: Yeah.

Lani: I was just out running errands and...thought you might need these.

Rafe: Oh, you are a godsend. We were nearing crisis levels.

[Lani chuckles] Come on in.

Lani: [Softly] So...how's it going?

Rafe: Oh, better now.

[Laughs] Should have seen him an hour ago, though. Kid's got lungs like beyonce. Oh, and, uh, little known fact: I have no idea what I'm doing.

Lani: Well, you look like you're doing just fine to me. Maybe a little tired.

Rafe: Uh, yeah. A little.

Lani: When you picked the baby up from last night, you mentioned you were moving back here, but...you didn't say why. I don't wanna pry, but is, um, is everything okay between you and hope?

Rafe: [Small laugh] Uh... eh.

[Knock on door]

Hope: Come in.

Ted: Do you have a moment, commissioner?

Hope: Sure.

Ted: I'd like you to confirm this report on the kellner case before I move forward with prosecution.

Hope: I'll take a look at it and get back to you.

Ted: Thanks. Everything all right?

Hope: Great.

Ted: You must be worn out. Jordan's baby still keeping you up at night?

Hope: Rafe took the baby and moved out last night.

Stefan: What the hell are you doing here? Where are chloe and holly?

Brady: They're gone. Why, what's wrong?

Stefan: Where did they go?

Brady: I have no idea.

Stefan: How long ago did they leave?

Brady: I don't know--7, 10, 10, 15 minutes ago. Why, what's going on?

Ben: We gotta go find them right away--those cartel guys are on their way back to salem. They could be here right now.

Chloe: I cannot believe brady trying to manipulate me like that... pretending like he didn't know we were gonna be in the park when he knew we were gonna be there. I know he wants to be with me, but I can't even think about something like that until this threat with the cartel guys is over.

[Sighs] Until then, keeping you and parker safe is all I care about. I should go check on those bodyguards, but...

[Dramatic chords]

Ciara: Ben wanted me to stay in the gatehouse till he gets back, but I guess I'll just go home. Bye.

Gabi: Uh, ciara.

Ciara: Yeah.

Gabi: Hey... I know that it's none of my business, but... do you think that he's the right guy? I mean, after everything that he's done and--

[Both gasp, scream] What was that? Oh, my god, ciara!

Hector: Sorry to interrupt, ladies, but I got some unfinished business here.

Male announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the "days of our lives."

[Soft orchestration]

Eric: I, uh...mom and I, well-- you know, it wasn't a big deal. I was just impatient with her, that's all.

Sarah: Sounded...like more than impatience. I believe your exact words were, "if you say anything to her, i will never forgive you."

Eric: A bit dramatic.

Sarah: The "her" that you were talking about, it was... me, wasn't it? What did you...not want your mom to tell me?

Ciara: You're making a huge mistake.

Hector: This is the dimera mansion, no?

Ciara: Yes. Yes, it is, which means security is gonna be swarming this place any minute now.

Hector: I created a diversion about a mile down the road. That should keep 'em busy for a while.

Gabi: This guards wouldn't just all leave this house unprotected.

Hector: No, they left a couple behind, but no worry. I took care of them. So now I have plenty of time to finish what I started a few weeks ago.

Ciara: You know I'm not chloe lane, right? I mean, that's who you're looking for, isn't it?

Gabi: I'm not chloe either. She's not here.

Hector: I'm very aware of who chloe lane is. My partner's taking care of her as we speak.

Gabi: Okay, well, then what are you doing here then?

Hector: I'm here for stefan dimera.

Stefan: Did you notice anyone suspicious when chloe and holly were here?

Brady: You mean besides the two goons that you had hanging around here?

Ben: The two goons were bodyguards here to protect her.

Stefan: When chloe left, did they go with her?

Brady: Yeah. Yeah. Why didn't you call her, at least warn her?

Ben: We tried. We couldn't get through to their phones.

Stefan: Did she say if she was going home or to work?

Brady: She didn't say where she was going.

Stefan: She just left without packing up.

Brady: She kind of stormed off. She was upset with me.

Stefan: Upset? What'd you do?

Brady: It doesn't matter what I did--what matters is we need to find them and focus on finding them right now, okay?

Stefan: If you did anything to hurt her--

Brady: Look, I did not--

Ben: We gotta go find them right now, stefan, okay? We can't waste a single minute with this. Chloe could be in danger as we speak.

Chloe: Oh, hey, we're not open yet.

Eli: I'm not here for lunch. I just got word that the drug cartel could be on their way back to salem.

Chloe: They're coming back for me?

Eli: The two men you identified were seen headed this way. I need to take you back down to the station to be safe.

Chloe: Oh, uh, do we have to go?

Eli: Chloe, it's the safest place, and I need to fill in hope on the situation.

Chloe: Okay, but I just put holly down for a nap. In the meanwhile, why don't you coordinate with the bodyguards outside?

Eli: There's no one outside.

Chloe: Well, they're very discreet--sometimes I forget that they're there. I'll introduce you--come on. Aah!

Eli: Let her go.

Ramon: Ah, ah, ah, not so fast.

[Intense music]

(Announcer) do you push through migraine?

Rafe: Hope wasn't thrilled about me wanting to keep the baby.

Lani: Yeah, I can understand that. It's a lot.

Rafe: Yeah. It is. But she knows how I feel about him and... well, I would think she would at least try to--

Lani: Try to what? I mean, rafe, you can't want something by just trying to. Especially when it comes to something as important as a baby. You either feel it or you don'T. And hope already has three children, right?

Rafe: Yeah. She lost one. Tragically.

Lani: I know. She was really kind when I lost my little boy. Because she knows. She knows how--how hard it is. So maybe going through all that suffering and raising three of her own kids and a grandchild... maybe the thought of starting all over is just...is too hard for her.

Rafe: Yeah, no, you're absolutely right. And it makes perfect sense, i mean, she--[Laughs]. She does not wanna be raising kids. She's already--she's got adult kids with problems of their own, and... I don't know. Maybe I should be more understanding of that.

Lani: Except you feel the need to care for little david. And if you turn him over to child services--

Rafe: No. No. I'm not doing that.

Lani: You're in a really difficult position.

Rafe: Yeah. Yeah, considering the way hope feels about it, it'S...only gonna get more difficult.

Lani: I'm sorry, rafe. I'm--I'm the one who pushed you into this.

Rafe: No, you didn--no. You did not push me into it, all right? Stop. I care about david. I feel responsible for him.

Lani: Yeah, but if it's causing you so many problems--

Rafe: We'll work it out. It could be years before jordan's well enough to look after david, and I am not letting him get lost in the system. Even if I were willing to give him up, I would always resent hope for that. I'd always feel like she forced him out.

Lani: I know, but rafe, she's your wife, and I pressured you into doing this.

Rafe: No, you did not, no, you did not pressure me into doing this, okay? It is not your fault. If it's anyone's fault, it's ted laurent'S.

Ted: Did you and rafe have an argument?

Hope: Ha. That's an understatement.

Ted: What was it about?

Hope: Well, uh, you, for one thing. I told rafe the truth about you kissing me, telling me that you were in love with me.

Ted: Well, I suppose that would do it.

Hope: Yeah. I suggest you steer clear of rafe for the next decade or so.

Ted: I hope he didn't blame you.

Hope: For the way you feel, no. For letting you kiss me--100%.

Ted: So he just walked out on you just for that?

Hope: Well, that and... there's more. There's more. Rafe is determined to take care of jordan's baby, no matter how long it takes for her to recover.

Ted: Hmph. If she ever recovers.

Hope: I told him we're just not in a good place... to raise an infant, not right now.

Ted: But again, your feelings didn't matter to him.

Hope: Neither one of us would back down, ted. So he moved back into his family home with the baby.

Ted: I'm sorry, hope.

Hope: Are you?

Ted: Yeah. I don't want you to be upset. And I don't want you to be hurt. To be honest... I'm glad. 'Cause now maybe we'll finally be able to be together.

Gabi: You came here for stefan. Why?

Hector: He killed my brother. And for that, he must die.

Gabi: Your brother, he's the one that attacked chloe at her club?

Hector: He came here to avenge el fideo. Stefan sent him home in a body bag.

Gabi: Your brother, he tried to slit chloe's throat. Stefan had no choice--

Hector: It was not his business to get in our way. My brother is dead and now stefan must pay, so where is he?

Gabi: Stefan no esta aqui.

[Speaking spanish]

Hector: Lo siento mucho. I'm not leaving until I have my revenge. Sit!

Ciara: So what are you gonna do?

Hector: We are going to settle in, chicas, and wait for our amigo stefan. And when I'm done with him, we're going to have ourselves a party.

Ramon: Drop your gun, cop! Do it now!

Eli: All right. All right, all right, all right. Just take it easy, all right? Just stay calm.

Ramon: Now walk away from it.

Eli: You don't wanna do this, all right?

Ramon: Are you sure about that?

Eli: Hurting chloe is not gonna bring your boss back.

Ramon: No. But taking out the woman who murdered el fideo-- that's gonna earn me major respect from all the right people!

[Chloe whimpers] Everyone--everyone's gonna know who I am.

Eli: You've already done that, huh? Ramon cortez, right? I've seen your file.

Ramon: I'm flattered. But after killing this little songbird, everyone in my country's gonna know who I am.

Chloe: Please, don't do this. I have two young children.

Ramon: Yeah, you should have thought about that before you stabbed el fideo in the back.

Chloe: I'm sorry! I didn't want to!

Ramon: It's too late, too late for that. Don't worry. Your death is gonna make me a living legend.

Eric: You're right. My mom and I were talking about you and... I asked her to keep a secret.

Sarah: About what? What is it that you don't want me to know?

Eric: Sarah, I--

[Door opens]

Rex: Oh, hi. I'm glad you're both here.

Sarah: You're back!

Rex: Yeah. Hi.

Sarah: Hi.

Eric: Hey, how was will's surgery?

Rex: Uh, he actually had a seizure right before we took him to the O.R.

Sarah: Is he okay?

Rex: Yeah, we stabilized him. We were still able to get him in for the biopsy.

Eric: Well, how did the seizure happen?

Rex: Well, it's not an uncommon symptom of a brain tumor--there's just a lotta pressure on the skull.

Sarah: How'd the procedure go?

Rex: We weren't able to remove a sizeable portion of the tumor, but we got a small sample, and it's in the lab right now--we're testing it.

Eric: So are we allowed to visit him?

Rex: Not--not quite yet. Sonny's with him right now, and he's resting comfortably.

Eric: Thank you for the update.

Rex: Yeah. I just wanted to tell you in person.

Eric: Appreciate it.

Sarah: Yeah, thank you.

Rex: So, uh, I know your shift starts pretty soon at the hospital--you want a ride?

Sarah: Actually, there's a few things that I wanna finish up here first.

Ted: Hope. I know you're an honorable woman and that you would never break your marriage vows. But if your marriage is coming to an end--

Hope: I never said anything about my marriage ending.

Ted: But rafe has moved out.

Hope: So what? That doesn't mean I'm ready to give up.

Ted: What rafe has done-- he left you to go to europe to see his ex, and when he comes back, he hears that another man is in love with his wife, and what does he do? He walks away.

Hope: It's not like that.

Ted: It just confirms what i already knew about rafe. He may not love you anymore. But I know I do.

Lani: So ted wants hope to leave you and be with him.

Rafe: Oh, yeah. He's wanted it for a long time.

Lani: And she told you that.

Rafe: She did.

Lani: Why would she tell you something like that?

Rafe: Why wouldn't she tell me?

Lani: I mean, she had to know that it would hurt you, rafe.

Rafe: She also knew I could see it as a warning-- if I didn't shape up, I might lose her.

Lani: To ted laurent. Rafe, that makes no sense.

Rafe: No, it sure as hell doesn't make any sense to me. I can't believe she gives that creep the time of day, much less trusts him. She's a smart woman. She's not stupid. I mean...

[Sighs] How the hell would she go off with a guy like ted laurent?

Lani: So you really think she's falling for him?

Rafe: I don't know. I mean, obviously something is going on, the extent of which-- you'd have to ask her.

Lani: Wait.

[Small laugh] Are you saying that she threw you out the house so she could be with ted?

Rafe: No, she didn't throw me out. I left. Voluntarily.

Lani: Because she gave you an ultimatum.

Rafe: Yeah. Because she doesn't want david to be part of our lives.

[Sighs] It's so much more than that. She--she feels like I am not making her my priority, and she's right. I haven't been of late. I went to see sami to help her out with johnny. Now, I--now I'm helping jordan taking care of david, and ciara'S... she's been going through a lot lately. I haven't been there for her and... hope feels betrayed and I get it. It's on me.

Lani: But you felt an obligation to be there for sami's son.

Rafe: Yeah. Yeah, I did. He was my stepson and we were close and he was going through a really hard time and I wanted to help him. I mean, I think I did.

Lani: I'm sure on some level that...hope understands. And rafe, I know that she loves you.

Rafe: Yeah.

[Light laugh] I don't doubt that, it's just... she's sending me a lot of mixed signals.

Lani: Yeah, that--that's because ted is a snake. Men like him, they just--they wait around for someone to be vulnerable, and they strike. He's taking advantage of the fact that you guys are having problems.

Rafe: My god, exactly. You see it, I see. Why doesn't hope see it?

Lani: 'Cause she's confused and she's hurt. But eventually, she will come to her senses.

Rafe: Well, even if that's the case, there's still the issue of david.

Lani: She has to understand why you wanna take care of him.

Rafe: Right, well, she may understand, but that doesn't necessarily mean that she's gonna get on board. And she's not wrong when she says it's a really bad time to be bringing a child into our marriage.

Lani: So what are you gonna do?

Rafe: I don't know. I'm certainly not giving up on my marriage.

Lani: Are you saying that you're going to turn david into child protective services?

Chloe: I know that you think that killing me will make your life better, but I promise you that it won't when stefan dimera finds out. I'm important to him. He will do whatever he can to find you!

Ramon: I'm not afraid of him.

Chloe: Well, you should be. He killed the last guy who came after me.

Ramon: All the other members of the cartel are all afraid of stefano dimera's son. Cowards! But if you ask me, the dimeras aren't as powerful as they used to be.

Eli: What about the cops? You afraid of us? Because the salem P.D. Is already looking for you. You'll never make it out of town without being arrested or shot. You stop this now and you turn yourself in, it'll help your case. All you have to do is let chloe go.

Hector: I could get used to living like this.

Gabi: Ciara, you create a distraction, I'll get my phone and send a text to rafe.

Ciara: [Whispers] Okay. Hi. 'Scuse me, um... what was your name again?

Hector: Hector.

Ciara: Hector. Hi. I'm ciara brady.

Hector: I know who you are.

Ciara: You do?

Hector: We looked you up after we thought you were chloe that night. You're dating the security chief... the serial killer.

Ciara: Mm. Right. Well, if you know that ben is my boyfriend, then you must also know that my mom is the police commissioner.

Hector: So?

Ciara: So...unless you want the entire salem P.D. After you, I suggest you let me and gabi go. Her brother's also a detective, by the way.

Hector: Good for her.

Ciara: Yeah.

Hector: Yeah. But no one's leaving. Not until stefan gets back.

Ciara: Okay, so then you will let us go?

Hector: We'll see. I might need a hostage to get out of here safely.

Ciara: Then you might as well let gabi go. I mean, you only need one of us. Two just makes things a little bit more complicated, don't you think?

Hector: You'd really sacrifice yourself--what the hell are you doing?

Gabi: No, no, no, give it to me--

[Phone clatters]

Hector: You're both gonna regret that.

[Dramatic music]

Hope: Just...stop. Rafe does love me. A-and I love him. And I owe it to my marriage to fight for it.

Ted: Hope... I know you're not a quitter. But you deserve so much more.

[Soft music]

Hope: This is really all about me being happy... not about you getting what you want?

Ted: I made my feelings very clear. And unlike rafe, I'm willing to fight for the woman that I love. And for what it's worth, I would never choose someone else's child over you.

Rafe: I don't know what I'm gonna do. I know that hope and I need to talk about it more. Maybe if she spends some more time with david, she'll be more open to the idea of helping to raise him.

Lani: I know you've always wanted to have kids.

Rafe: Yeah. I always thought I'd have a big family.

Lani: Rafe, it's not too late.

Rafe: You know, when I was with sami and I was helping her raise her kids, it was...it was amazing. It was probably one of the most rewarding things I've ever done.

Lani: I'm sure you were the most amazing dad to them.

Rafe: [Laughs] I tried. I did. And that's what I want for david. I just want him to have a good home. Jordan was really helpful. She--she did a lot for me, which, you know, maybe that's why he and I have such a connection.

Lani: Maybe if hope sees what david means to you...she'll understand. Especially now that you guys have had time to cool down and think about things.

Rafe: Yeah. Yeah, maybe.

Lani: You should reach out. See if she'll come by.

Rafe: Yeah?

[Chuckles] Oh.

[Tense music]

Lani: What's wrong?

Rafe: Gabi texted me, but my phone was on silent, and she says she's at stefan'S. She needs me to go there asap.

[Phone beeps]

[Line ringing] Damn it.

Lani: What happened?

Rafe: Voice mail. Um...I, uh, I need to deal with this right now. Can you--you can stay here and watch him?

Lani: Yes. Absolutely. You don't even have to ask.

Rafe: Okay. I will be back as soon as I can, all right? You're the best. Thank you.

Hector: Who the hell did you text?

Gabi: No one, no one! I was just getting in touch with my daughter--

Hector: Don't lie to me!

Gabi: I was trying to get in touch with--

Ciara: Gabi, get the gun! Get off of her! No!

[Gabi whimpering]

Gabi: Ciara!

Hector: You know what? You were right--I don't need two hostages. It's more trouble than I need.

Ciara: Let go of me!

Hector: Time to ditch the excess package.

Gabi: No, no, no, please don't!

Ben: Don'T...move.

[Tense music]

Eli: Listen, ramon, it's one thing to get hauled in for attempted kidnapping or to put you away for life.

Ramon: I'm not going to prison.

Eli: Okay, okay, all right, I can help you, all right? But I need you to do the right thing here--no one's gotten hurt yet. It's not too late to turn this thing around. I can help negotiate a good deal for you.

Ramon: I don't need a good deal, and I don't need you. I'm gonna kill her, and I'm gonna get the hell out of salem.

Eli: I can't let you do that.

Ramon: Like you have a choice. I'm gonna put a bullet in her, and then I'm gonna put a bullet in you. It's time to put this--

Brady: Chloe--go! Get outta here!

[Suspenseful music]

Rex: I mean, your--your shift starts pretty soon, like I said. You don't wanna just come with me now? Why do you wanna hang around here?

Sarah: Well, I-I just have a couple of wedding plans that i wanna lock down.

Rex: [Laughs] Yeah. Like--like what?

Sarah: Well... eric just volunteered to be our official wedding photographer.

Rex: What?

Sarah: Yeah.

Rex: That's amazing! It's an amazing offer! Thank you for that!

Eric: Happy to do it, you know. I mean, of course, you know, i mean, it's the least I can do. But listen, we can talk about this another time. Please, you should go with rex.

Sarah: But I still have some questions.

Eric: Yeah, we can do this another day.

Rex: Yeah, what questions are you talking about, sarah?

Eric: Well, sarah, she...

[Laughs] Had this idea that, you know, that it would not work out for me to be the photographer because she thought that you would probably ask me to be your best man, which I assured her that probably wasn't the case.

Rex: Yeah, I--but I was gonna ask you.

Eric: And I appreciate that, but think of all the money you're gonna save. I mean, it's just one less thing for you to worry about.

Rex: I mean, okay. I-I guess I can--I can ask dad to be my best man.

Eric: Are you kidding me? You know he lives for this stuff.

Rex: I know! He loves it!

[Laughs] So it--it's settled then. We have a photographer, and you can come with me to work right now, and...

Sarah: Okay, I guess... I will go get dressed.

Eric: Yeah.

Rex: Hey, listen, um...

[Door closes] I'm actually glad you and I have a minute, because I just--i really wanna clear the air about what happened between you and sarah.

Hope: Lani, hi.

Lani: Hi!

Hope: Hi. Uh... is rafe here?

Lani: No, you just missed him. He got a text from gabi, had to go help her with something, and he asked me to look after david.

Hope: Oh, all right, um, I guess I'll catch up with him later then.

Lani: Hope. Wait. I just--I want you to know that I'm the one who encouraged rafe to take custody of david. And I am so sorry if it caused any trouble between you two.

Hope: No, no, it's not your fault. It's not. Rafe should have talked to me first before making such a big decision.

[David cries]

Lani: I'm sorry, he's-- he's not supposed to be up from his nap yet.

Hope: Oh, I think his--his blanky--he lost it. Maybe if you give it back to him--it always worked with my kids.

[David quieting] Ah.

Lani: Sweet boy. Back to sleep. Rafe is just doing what he thinks is best for david. He feels responsible for him.

Hope: He's not david's father.

Lani: I know, but...he needs your support.

Hope: We're not in the place where we should be raising an infant right now, lani.

Lani: Is that because of ted laurent?

Ted: [Sighs]

[Phone rings]

[Beep] Hello?

[Dramatic musical sting] Are you insane? I told you to never call me on this number!

Hector: Drop your gun or i shoot your little girlfriend.

Ciara: [Softly] Ben.

Ben: It's okay. Ciara, everything's gonna be okay.

Hector: Drop the gun.

[Tense music]

Now! Go!

Stefan: Is chloe here? Are you okay?

Gabi: Chloe has not come back okay? He sent somebody else after her, and he's here for you!

Hector: She's right. Chloe's probably dead by now.

Stefan: You son of a bitch--

Hector: And you're about to join her.

[Percussive music]

Chloe: Shoot him! Do it!

Eli: I can't get a clean shot.

Chloe: Brady, be careful!

Brady: Chloe, get outta here!

Chloe: Aah!

Chloe: Oh, my god, brady! Brady! You've been hit! Where were you shot?

Brady: It's--no, it's--it's all right. It's all right, it was him. It was him.

Eli: He's dead.

Chloe: Thank god you're okay!

Brady: Shh, it's okay.

[Chloe sobbing] It's over, it's over. Hard part's over.

[Chloe sobbing]

Rex: You and I haven't had a lot of time, just the two of us, to talk.

Eric: Talk about...

Rex: About sarah admitting that she had feelings for you.

Eric: You know what? We really don't need to get into that. I mean, it's over, you guys are getting married, you're happy.

Rex: I think we need to address the situation.

Eric: There is no situation.

Rex: Well, there is to me. Eric, it's been bothering me more than I've been admitting.

Eric: Okay.

Rex: You saw the way that i snapped at you this morning when I thought you were bad-mouthing my engagement.

Eric: It was a misunderstanding, not a big deal.

Rex: No, it'S...because, deep down, I'm a little jealous.

Eric: You have no reason to be jealous. Sarah loves you.

Rex: I know, but what brady told me, it's in my head--you going after nicole--

Eric: I did not go after her.

Rex: Look, maggie is also not thrilled that I'm marrying her daughter, so if you can understand, I'm a little insecure about my relationship--

Eric: You have no reason to be.

Rex: I hope not. Eric, I know that you told sarah that you never had feelings for her. But I would feel a whole hell of a lot better if I heard it directly from you.

Hope: What did rafe tell you about ted?

Lani: He said that ted told you he loved you and that he wanted you to leave rafe for him. He also said that you didn't exactly turn ted down. And I really hope I'm not being too presumptuous, but the way that I see it--the man knows that your marriage is in trouble, hope, and he is taking advantage of you.

Hope: Whew! Okay, uh, well, first of all, I told ted and made it very clear not once but twice... I'm not interested. And lani... I wouldn't let anyone take advantage of me.

Lani: I know rafe has made mistakes, but you have to try to save your marriage.

Hope: [Sighs] And you need to stay out of it.

Hector: I'm really going to enjoy this.

Gabi: Stefan, stefan, hector's brother's the one you shot to protect chloe, okay?

Stefan: So I killed your brother.

Hector: That's right.

Stefan: This is about revenge. I get it. I would do the same thing. So this is personal. Let everybody else go.

Hector: As I told miss brady, I need a hostage to get out of here.

Ben: Then take me.

Lani: You're right, hope--

Hope: I'm sorry. I am sorry. I apologize. I know you're just trying to help rafe--I know that.
