[Door opens]

[Lock clicks]

Rafe: [Laughs softly]

Hope: You go ahead. You go first, yeah.

Rafe: No, no. No, go ahead.

Hope: No, you.

Rafe: I mean, what's on your mind?

Hope: [Sighs] All right. Let's go someplace else to talk. Let's get away from here.

Jack: Eve's gonna be my bride, my wife. Now, give me the key.

Jennifer: No.

Jack: No?

Jennifer: No. I'm not giving up.

Jack: You...

[Groans] I'm not giving up either!

Jennifer: Now, don't be like that.

[Indistinct shouting]

Jennifer: It's useless. No one is going to...

[Shelf rattles] Jack!

Both: [Scream]

[Footsteps rustling]

Tripp: [Sighs] So, how do I look? Do I look like a groom?

Haley: Wow, look at you...

[Laughs] Look at us. We could be on top of a wedding cake.

Tripp: [Sighs] Well, you-- you really do look beautiful.

Haley: You ready to do this?

Tripp: [Laughs softly] Are you?

Haley: Do I have a choice?

Kayla: Oh, hey, you.

Jj: Hey, hey.

Kayla: Are you done with your shift?

Jj: I am.

Kayla: Hey, you know, I was curious if you had a chance to talk to claire about that lighter you saw in her jewelry box.

Jj: Yeah. Yeah, I did...

[Laughs softly] She kinda freaked out.

Eve: You are such a bitch! And you're not gonna get away with it. And I know exactly what you did because eric told me everything and you know what, jennifer? You are so pathetic! I'll tell you what. You can talk until your eyes bleed, but you will never, ever, ever gonna talk jack into not marrying me today.

[Keypad beeps] That's right, bitch. I'm gonna find you and absolutely shred you. It's not a good time. It's--

Claire: Tripp say haley in her wedding dress and went totally gaga.

Eve: On her wedding day? Well, that's not gonna bode well, but you need to excuse me.

Claire: Eve, wait a minute...

[Laughs softly] No, I need to talk to you right now, please.

Eve: No, I--I will talk to you forever, but right now, I'm getting ready for my nuptials, okay, so, I got--

Claire: No, no, eve! No, 'cause you told me that you would help me blow up tripp and haley's wedding, okay? You promised, and you're not going anywhere until we figure out how to do that.

[Soft orchestration]

Tripp: I-- you having second thoughts?

Haley: Second, third, fourth.

Tripp: Well, look, hold up. You could change your mind, you know, it's totally fine--

Haley: No, no, no. I haven'T. I haven't changed my mind. I mean, we gotta do this, right?

[Sighs] I just--I feel so guilty about claire and what this is doing to her and, I mean, her boyfriend is marrying some random girl, faking this whole marriage and--

Tripp: [Babbles] Okay, okay. I get today might be tough for claire, all right? But tomorrow, you and I will be married, and this whole crap that jack and eve have been raining down on you will be over, and I will make sure that claire understand exactly what she means to me.

Jj: I told claire I felt the lighter could be connected to the fire. She thought I was accusing her. She got very defensive and practically fell over herself denying that she possibly could've done it.

Kayla: What are you saying?

[Tense music]

Claire: Eve, you told me. You told me to play the long game, but see, tripp and haley are getting married today, so we don't have time for the freaking long game!

Eve: I know. I know that. I know that things didn't work out the way that you had hoped--

Claire: Wait, wait, are-- are you blowing me off? Do I need to do this on my own?

Eve: No, no, I'm not. I'm not blowing you off, okay? I promise you I'm not. I just--okay, you know what we have to do? We both just need to calm down and we need to come up with a plan.

Claire: [Sarcastic laugh] A plan? What plan is gonna help us? Eve, it's too late.

Eve: No.

Claire: [Stammers] I've lost him.

Eve: You haven't lost anybody.

Claire: You know, I have tried so hard to be the best-- the best girlfriend ever, and I wasn't enough. And now, everything in my mind, is just--it's spinning out of control, and I don't know how to make it stop, and, you know, it all goes back to haley, all of it. It's haley's fault 'cause now tripp is gonna dump me, jj has given the lighter to the police, and everything in my life is just spinning!

Eve: Wait, wait, wait, stop. Just-- let's go back here a minute. What--went to the police? What lighter? What are you talking about here?

Claire: Nothing. Nothing. I'm not talking about anything.

[Stammers] It's-- it's not a big deal, okay? Look, it's not. I had this lighter that I kept in my jewelry box. And...[Laughs softly] Thanks to stupid haley, jj found it, and so-- jj is somehow convinced that it's connected to the fire that almost killed ciara last year.

Eve: What, and he thinks that you're involved in that?

Ciara: [Laughs softly]

Eve: I mean, that's totally ridiculous. I mean, ciara-- she is your family. I mean, you two have had your drama, I mean, for sure, but you would never ever do anything like that... to her...

oh, my god, claire. Did you start that fire?

Claire: [Sniffs] So there you are with your depression

[Somber piano music]

Hope: [Clicks tongue]

Rafe: Um...

Hope: Oh.

[Birds chirping]

Rafe: This used to be so easy. So, um, why don't you tell me what you wanted to talk about?

Hope: No, no, no. You know what? Why don't you go first? It's fine. You go first.

Rafe: Okay. I want us to keep jordan's baby.

Eli: Rafe tracked him down in california. We brought him back.

Ben: [Laughs softly] What's his name?

Lani: David.

Ben: [Laughs softly] Hey, david. Hey. Can I hold him?

Lani: No.

Eve: Ben and jordan-- they weren't the ones that tried to kill ciara?

Claire: It was me.

Eve: Well, how did you know even where to look for her? Nobody knew where she was.

Claire: Well, she turned on her phone.

Eve: Okay.

Claire: And so, her location lit up on my laptop.

Eve: Mm-hmm.

Claire: I was so excited. No, I--I was gonna go save her, eve. I was gonna be a hero. And that doesn't happen to me very often. So, I got there. I walked into the cabin. I saw her sleeping. And I don't know, like, she just looked so... she just looked so vulnerable. And then... I don't know. All of these thoughts just started racing through my head about how ciara always took things away from me-- theo, the bella contest, tripp, everything. She always won no matter what. I saw ben's lighter on the table. And I--I picked up...

[Sniffs] I don't know. It was almost like I was watching myself. I knew it was wrong, but I just-- I couldn't stop.

Kayla: Well, we both know claire can be rather high-strung.

Jj: Yeah, and she is very stressed. Haley and tripp are getting married today.

Kayla: You are a good friend, and a good man.

Jj: [Sighs]

Kayla: I can't believe it, but I did hear that your father and eve are getting married today also.

Jack: And I told him that his marriage is ripping mom apart. He didn't give a damn. He even had the nerve to ask me to be his best man. Look, even if I wasn't tripp's, there's no way in hell I would stand up there as a witness to him marrying eve.

Kayla: I'm sorry your family's having to go through this.

Jj: [Scoffs softly] Look, I know this is terrible, but... I kinda just wish my dad would've stayed dead.

Jennifer: Jack, can you hear me? Are you okay? Jack! Jack, look at me. Look at me. Jack, look at me. Are you okay? There you are. Look at me. Say my name--anything. Say anything. Who am I? Say my name.

Jack: Loretta. (Dad) got it?

Jennifer: Loretta?

Jack: I mean, jennifer.

[Stammers] I know who you are. You're the crazy girl that pretended this whole building was on fire so you could lock me up in this place.

Jennifer: No, right, right, but you just called me loretta.

Jack: Yeah, so what? It doesn't mean anything.

Jennifer: Yes, it does.

Ben: No?

Lani: Rafe asked me to look after him and I am pretty sure he wouldn't be comfortable with this.

Ciara: Yeah, ben is the baby's uncle. He deserves the right to hold his nephew, lani.

Eli: It's fine, just-- let ben hold the baby.

Lani: [Softly] It's okay. Yeah.

Ben: Hey. Hey. Oh, my goodness. Hey, little man. Hey. Hey. Hey, it's nice to meet you, david. I'm your uncle ben. Your uncle ben.

Ciara: Hi...

[Laughs]

Ben: Hey. Last time I held a baby, it was thomas...

Ciara: [Laughs softly]

Ben: When I thought I was his father.

Ciara: Hey. You know, I think he kinda looks like you.

Ben: [Laughs softly] Yeah?

Ciara: Yeah. Hi, baby.

Ben: Hey.

Lani: Okay, it's, um, it's getting a little chilly. I should take him somewhere warmer.

Ben: It's okay. It's okay. Hey, it was very nice to meet you, david. I hope I get to see you again real soon, kay?

[Smooches] Okay?

Lani: Come here, come here. Hi. Hi, handsome.

Ciara: Bye, baby.

Lani: Say bye. Say bye.

Ben: Bye. Bye. Nice to meet you.

Lani: Okay, it's okay.

[Whispers indistinctly]

Ben: [Sighs]

Ciara: Could she have been any ruder?

Ben: She only sees a serial killer, right? She doesn't trust me. I get that...

[Laughs softly]

Ciara: [Sighs]

Ben: Can I buy you a-- a boba tea, something, to celebrate my new nephew?

Ciara: Yes, definitely.

Ben: My awesome new nephew.

Ciara: Your amazing new nephew. You are on. Let's go.

Eli: Hey, ben. I need to talk to you about the fire that almost killed ciara.

[Foreboding music]

Both: [Sigh]

Eve: Ciara almost died. How could you?

Claire: Look, I'm not a monster. I swear. I swear. Please...[Sniffs] Please believe me. I'm so sorry. Look, as soon as I ran out of there, I realized what I had done, and so I ran back inside to go save her, but hope and rafe were already there. And so, I just... I went home, and I tried so hard to just put it out of my mind, but I couldn'T.

Tripp: Hey.

Kayla: Hey, you. Looks like somebody's getting married today.

Tripp: That's actually why I'm here. I have a favor to ask you.

Kayla: Ask away.

Tripp: Well, since dad is out of town, you're the only family I have, so would you come to my wedding?

[Soft ethereal music]

[Soft dramatic music]

[Knocking]

Jj: [Laughs softly] You look beautiful.

Haley: [Laughs softly] You look kinda beautiful yourself...

[Clears throat]

Jj: Uh, I got some boutonnières for tripp and me. Um, and I hope you don't mind. I, uh, saw this flower-- thought it would look good in your hair.

Haley: [Sniffs]

[Laughs softly]

[Tender music]

Kayla: Of course I will be at your wedding. You know, your father would be so proud of you if he was here-- just seeing you helping somebody who needs it.

Tripp: [Chuckles] I guess I scored some good genes from the guy out saving the world somewhere, huh?

Kayla: Yeah.

Tripp: Look, I--I really appreciate your support. You know, you really helped haley too. She's kinda struggling...

[Laughs softly]

Kayla: I believe she's not the only one.

[Foreboding music]

Claire: Look, I held on to that lighter to remind myself of how lucky I was that ciara didn't get hurt. And then, thanks to stupid haley, jj found it, and now jordan's swearing that she didn't set the fire. I...

[Laughs nervously] I just don't know what I'm gonna do. I don't know. What the police trace the lighter back to me, eve? Oh, god. And then if tripp finds out, he's just--he's gonna hate me forever.

Eve: No.

Claire: Yeah.

Eve: No, no, no. No, he's not. No, he's not. No, he's not. No, he's not, shh.

Eli: Because of jordan's denial, we've reopened the case.

Ciara: She's in bayview. Why would anyone believe anything that comes out of her mouth?

Eli: She's been cooperative about everything else. No reason to believe she'd be lying about this.

Ciara: Okay. Well, just because jordan didn't set the fire, doesn't mean that ben did. And it's not like you guys have any evidence, so maybe you should just leave him alone.

Eli: Jj brought me a lighter similar to the one that ben used to set fire to the cabin. He found it at the loft.

Ciara: The loft? How is that possible?

Eli: Yeah, apparently claire had it.

Ciara: Okay, so ask claire about it then.

Eli: I asked claire about it. She said she found it laying around. And you did stay at the loft for a while.

Ciara: All right...

[Laughs] So, what, ben decided to hold on to the lighter as some, what, freaky souvenir and just decided to leave it laying around?

Ben: The lighter's not mine.

Eli: [Sighs] I'd like you to come to the station and take a look at it.

Ciara: Okay.

Ben: Let's go.

Eli: Excuse me. I prefer she come alone.

Ben: What, you think I'm gonna influence it? Eli, if you think that lighter's mine, you're gonna accuse me, I should be there.

Ciara: Ben, it's okay. You and I both know that you didn't do it, and whatever they think they have is bogus. It's okay. Let's do this.

[Tense music]

Rafe: Jordan refuses to tell me who the father is. Ben as a guardian is obviously as no. This kid has no one, hope.

Hope: This is a terrible situation all the way around. It's terrible.

Rafe: Yeah.

Hope: Rafe, this--it's just-- it's not a good time for us to take in a baby. We're not in good place.

Rafe: Well, that doesn't mean that we can't help a baby.

Hope: True. But... do you think maybe... just maybe you're using this baby to avoid dealing with the issues that you and i are having right now?

Rafe: Oh, come on. We've had our ups and our downs, and yes, right now, we're going through a rough patch, but... you know, maybe this baby might even bring us closer.

Hope: This is so much pressure.

Rafe: [Sighs softly]

Hope: I have to say no. The problems we're having--rafe. Rafe. We talk around them, and we put them in a box, and they get worse, not better. That's not a good atmosphere for a baby. It's not.

Rafe: But hope, we've had problems before-- big ones-- and we've gotten through them. What's different? What's changed? I feel like you're acting like-- like we can't work through our problems anymore. What...

[Soft dramatic music]

Is this about ted? Hope, answer me.

Hope: He's in love with me.

Jennifer: Do you remember when I told you that you almost died on that sinking ship when you admitted that you loved me?

Jack: Yeah, so?

Jennifer: The name of the ship was "loretta."

Jack: Really? Can you let me out now?

Jennifer: No. Do you know what that means?

Jack: Nothing.

Jennifer: It means everything, jack. It means that all these memories and these feelings that you have of me and the way that you loved me and our life together are still in this thick skull of yours, which means that you might remember everything again, which also means that we may have our life together again.

Jennifer: Okay. There were these diary pages...

Jack: Uh-huh.

Jennifer: That everybody wanted, and we had them. And this thug--he took me hostage and he was gonna trade me for the diary pages.

Jack: Take it easy. See? I'll give you the pages. There you--

[Yelps]

Jack: Jennifer...[Inaudible]

Jennifer: Jack!

Jack: Wait a minute!

Jennifer: We gotta jump. We gotta jump.

Jack: Wait a minute--

Jennifer: Jump!

Jack: [Screams] I saved your life.

Jennifer: Right, but you risked my life at the same time because you gave him fake diary pages, and if that thug would've found out they were fake, then he would've killed me.

Jack: But he didn't, and you're still alive to torture me in the here and now.

Jennifer: Back then, I stormed off and I boarded the loretta.

Jack: Wait a minute. That sounds familiar.

Rafe: Laurent says he's in love with you. Of course he is. That son of a bitch-- I'm gonna kill him.

Hope: No, you're not, rafe--

Rafe: No, that bastard's done everything that he can to come between us. Every time I walk into your office, he's trying to hold your hand. He does that slimy thing that he does. What, he thinks that you're gonna fall for that?

[Soft dramatic music]

So--so, what, he just told you that he's in love with you out of nowhere?

Hope: No.

Rafe: No?

Hope: It was not out of nowhere. He kissed me, rafe.

Rafe: You what?

Hope: On two separate occasions, he kissed me.

Rafe: Oh, god. Okay. Is that what you wanted to talk to me about? Why? You... why are you telling me this now?

Hope: 'Cause he wants me to leave you...to be with him.

Rafe: [Scoffs slightly] Well, I wish I could've been there to see you-- see you tell him to go to hell...

[Laughs softly] You did tell him to go to hell, didn't you?

Jj: I'm pretty sure there's some fine print somewhere that it's the best man's duty to make sure the bride is reasonably happy before she walks down the aisle, so, I'm here.

Haley: [Sniffs] It's just, um, when I was seven, I, uh, I went to my very first wedding. And the bride was so beautiful, and the way the groom looked at her... you could just tell he was so in love with her. And I promised myself that one day, that's gonna be me.

Jj: You got the beautiful bride part covered.

Haley: [Laughs softly] This is... this is shuangxi. It means "double happiness." I took it home that day, and I dreamt about my own wedding in a room filled with this symbol of love. And now my wedding day is here, and on a day that I'm supposed to be marrying someone who loves and accepts me for everything that I am, I'm forced to deny that huge part of me. I mean, don't get me wrong. I--I am so grateful to tripp for offering to do this, but... when I was that little girl in china...

[Cries softly]

[Stammers] I... I dreamed of somebody who--who-- who would make my heart skip a beat, someone who would be the other half to my double happiness.

(Announcer) do you push through migraine?

Rafe: Did you or did you not tell ted to go to hell?

Hope: I made it very clear that I am not interested.

Rafe: Well, that's great. I am glad that ted knows where he stands because I sure as hell don'T.

Hope: Where are you going?

Rafe: I'm gonna go find ted and then I'm gonna kill him.

Hope: Oh, yeah, of course you are, because it's so much easier to throw punches at ted than stay here and you fight for your marriage. You fight for us, rafe! Why won't you? I need you.

[Voice cracking] This marriage needs you, rafe, but you're so busy running off saving everyone else, you haven't even noticed.

Rafe: Oh, my god, would you--

Hope: Fight for us. Don't you care about us?

Rafe: I'm not the one running around behind your back making out with a slimy da--

Hope: Oh, how dare you. Me?

[Scoffs]

Rafe: Yeah.

Hope: Oh, look at us.

Rafe: [Mutters]

Hope: [Sniffs] So broken. We can't bring a baby into this. There's no way. There's no way we can bring a baby into this.

[Sighs]

Jennifer: What sounded familiar, jack?

Jack: You know that you were a handful back then and you're handful now, right?

Jennifer: That's why you love me.

Jack: Loved. Duh, duh, duh, duh. Past tense.

Jennifer: No, jack. Let me help you.

Jack: [Grunts]

Jennifer: Wait.

Jack: [Stammers] I can do it.

Jennifer: Hold on, wait.

Jack: Oh, you--

Jennifer: Hold on.

Jack: You hold on--

Jennifer: There has to be something, some little thing that you could remember.

Jack: Yeah.

Jennifer: Please.

Jack: This is how I remember. There's one way. You and I are gonna work together. You can keep dropping things on my head till all my memories come back. Or you can just open that door right now and give up on the idea that you and I are ever going to be together again.

Jj: Haley, I am so sorry. This is all my fault. And the wedding wouldn't be happening if it wasn't for me. If I had just kept my mouth shut with my dad, this...

Haley: No. You trusted the wrong guy.

Jj: So did you.

Haley: No. No, I didn'T.

[Suspenseful music]

Eli: Have you seen this before? Ciara?

Claire: Thank you.

Eve: Here you go.

Claire: Are you gonna turn me into the police? (Brian) I'm brian.

Jennifer: I'm not giving up on you. Because the man that I love, who risks everything, who loves to the edge of the moon, is still in there and I know it. But I also know that I can't stop you from choosing the life that you want. So you can stay here with me and we can figure out a way to bring the old jack home. Or you can walk out of here and you can go marry eve donovan. Your choice.

Haley: Jj. You're not your father. Okay, when I swallowed a bottle of pills, it was you that saved me. When I had nowhere to go, you saved me.

Jj: It's just when you needed to be protected. I brought all of this down on you.

Haley: I waited for this day all my life, my wedding day because I knew it was gonna mean something, and it may not have turned out the way that i planned. But it's still gonna mean something because today... today I'm letting go of all my anger. I forgive you, jj.

[Gentle music]

Eve: Of course I'm not gonna go to the police. I know you, claire. I know your heart. And I promise you--I couldn't protect my daughter, but I will protect you, okay?

Claire: I don't think there's anything you can do.

Eve: Hmm. Yeah, there is. Somebody needs to go down for setting that fire. And I'm gonna make sure ben weston takes the fall.

Eli: I know you want to protect ben.

Ciara: [Sighs]

Eli: But you need to tell me the truth. Have you seen the lighter before?

Ciara: I don't know. Okay, it might look kind of a lot like the lighter that i saw ben use at the cabin, but it doesn't prove anything, eli. Okay, I know that ben didn't do it.

Ben: Look, I understand i upset her, but it's important. It's about her son. It's my nephew. Come on, please, I-- okay. Fine. Just know that I am gonna keep trying, and someday somebody is gonna let me see her.

[Door opens] Do you--

[Cell phone beeps]

[Somber music]

Rafe: Hope, I love you. I love you and I want to be with you, and I... I want to fix everything that is wrong with us. But I'm not sure that's what you want. In fact... I got the feeling that when ted painted his pretty little picture about the two of you being together, you didn't say no.

Hope: [Sighs]

Rafe: Did you?

Hope: I will say it again. I told him I am not interested. But it's so much more complicated than that, rafe.

Rafe: Actually, maybe it's pretty simple.

Hope: No. It's not.

Rafe: I think it is because I don't think that you need me like you say you need me. But you know who does need me? That baby needs me. So I'm gonna take care of him. Until you figure out if you want to be with me or with ted, I'm moving on.

[Melancholy music]
