Stefan: Hey.

Chloe: You all right?

Stefan: Yeah, I'm just, uh... caught me thinking about charlotte, so...

Chloe: Huh. You really miss her.

Stefan: Yeah, I was imagining, you know, what it would be like to share what you and I just shared with holly, with charlotte.

Chloe: I know it still hurts that charlotte isn't yours.

Stefan: I think it always will.

Gabi: Why are you so worked up about chloe living with stefan? Are you trying to get back with her?

Brady: No--that--listen. The point--the point is that she is in danger. Okay, the point is the longer she is with stefan, the more likely she is to get hurt. That's my concern.

Gabi: I can't argue with that.

Brady: So will you help me get her the hell out of there?

Gabi: That depends... on what's in it for me.

Victor: You know, even-- all the things that you've done to me, why would I even consider hiring you at titan again?

Kate: Given our past, you need to hear me out.

Victor: Given our past, i should have security haul you out of here the minute you sat down.

[Elevator bell dings]

Maggie: Rex.

Rex: Maggie. Hi. So nice to see you.

Maggie: Hi. Good to see you. I came by to check on will. How's he doing?

Rex: I just put him through some more tests, so it's gonna be a while before we know anything.

Maggie: Oh, good. That'll give you and me plenty of time to talk about my daughter.

Eric: My dad told me you accepted rex's proposal.

Sarah: I am an engaged woman again.

Eric: Congratulations. Rex--he must be thrilled.

Sarah: He is. He is. He was carrying the ring with him for weeks, so.

Eric: And you?

Sarah: What do you mean?

Eric: Well, it's just, the last time that we spoke, you were still very much on the fence. What changed?

Sarah: Why do you care? It's not like you have feelings for me, right?

Male announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the "days of our lives."

[Soft orchestration]

Eric: Of course I care. You're my friend.

Sarah: You don't approve of me accepting rex's proposal.

Eric: No, I just know you were, you know, having trouble trusting him, with good reason.

Sarah: I wouldn't have put this ring back on my finger if i didn't believe that rex was committed to being with only me.

Eric: Are you willing to forgive him for his mistakes?

Sarah: What kind of person would I be if held them against him forever?

Eric: Forgiveness is important. No one knows that better than me.

Sarah: I have forgiven him. And I'm ready to move ahead and to let go of...things that have gotten in our way.

Eric: Sorry... if I sent you mixed signals... about us.

Sarah: No, no. You--you-- you did nothing wrong. I imagined that there was something between us that there was never really there. And that's on me.

Eric: Not entirely.

Maggie: I understand the wedding is on. You must be very happy about that.

Rex: I am, yeah. I get the feeling that you are not.

Maggie: Picked up on that, did you?

Rex: Mm, yeah.

Maggie: Mm. You cheated on my daughter on numerous occasions-- once with her sister.

Rex: Maggie, I have done some terrible things, yes.

Maggie: That we can agree. But you see I've--I've tried to keep my hands off on this relationship, but there's been something that's been eating at me all this time.

Rex: I completely understand.

Maggie: Well, I hope you do. Because you're a parent now, rex, and as a parent, it is your responsibility to look out for your daughter, whether she's 2 or 32. And I just can't stand the idea that my daughter is marrying a serial cheater.

Chloe: I told you we can't do this right now.

Stefan: We're both feeling something here.

Chloe: I-I just can't think about being with anyone until the people who are trying to kill me are locked away.

Eli: Hopefully we're a step closer to making that happen.

Brady: The guy put you through hell, gabi. If I were you, I'd be obsessed with getting revenge on him.

Gabi: Oh, I have been. Believe me.

Brady: So...have you given up?

Gabi: No. Hell no. I want him to suffer as much as he's made me suffer. That's why I took charlotte away from him.

Brady: All right. Well, let's not stop there. Let's take chloe away from him too.

Gabi: Brady, w--they're not even together yet. I mean, if I take her away, that's just gonna scratch the surface, and that's not gonna do anything. So unless you have a plan to bury stefan, then we don't really have anything to talk about, right? Okay.

Brady: Hold up. Hold up. Hold on, hold on, hold on. I do have a plan. And it's to hit stefan... exactly where it hurts the most. - Recycling clothes can both benefit charities - where's a woman's place?

Kate: Sometimes you are your own worst enemy, victor.

Victor: Worst? Huh. I've had some pretty nasty enemies.

Kate: Really? Do you consider me one?

Victor: I'd be a fool not to after all the times you tried to take me down.

Kate: It was just business.

Victor: Oh, really, kate? Is it ever just business with you?

Kate: Actually, this time you're right. It's very personal.

Victor: Well, then, I want nothing to do with it. Will you please just move along so I can enjoy the rest of my day?

Kate: [Sighs] You are a stubborn mule. If you just swallow your pride for one minute, you would see that you need me a hell of a lot more than I need you.

Stefan: You have a new lead on the cartel?

Lani: We had an informant id a couple of suspects who were linked to the shootings.

Chloe: They're here in town?

Eli: They were. But you already knew that, didn't you, stefan? The informant gave that information to your chief of security, ben weston... yesterday.

Lani: It would have been nice if you shared that with us.

Chloe: Stefan, did you know about this?

Eli: You do know that we're all trying to find the people that shot at chloe, right?

Stefan: Never had much reason to trust salem pd.

Lani: Are you saying you don't want our help?

Chloe: Stefan, please work with the police. The cartel's after me and my family. We need all the help we can get.

Gabi: You have a plan to bury stefan?

Brady: Mm-hmm.

Gabi: Okay, let's hear it.

Brady: Ever since he's come to salem, there's been one thing that he's wanted--one thing-- and that's a family.

Gabi: Yeah, orphan, blah-blah-blah, unloved, you know, all that, whatever.

Brady: And he tried to make it happen with gabby with a y, didn't he?

Gabi: Yeah, but he couldn't because she's not real.

Brady: Exactly. So now he wants to do it with chloe.

Gabi: You really think he's that invested already?

Brady: Did you see how fast he moved chloe and her kids into his house? Who the hell does that, gabi?

Gabi: Someone that doesn't like to be alone.

Brady: Yes.

Gabi: And desperately wants a real connection with another person.

Brady: Exactly, gabi. Desperate. The man is desperate. He wants to have someone that loves him and cares about him, instead of someone that sees him as a soulless monster.

Gabi: Mm. That almost would be sad, except he is a soulless monster.

Brady: I agree. Think about it. He lost charlotte. He lost abigail. The one thing he hasn't lost in the world is his desire to have that family. Don't underestimate the pain that he's gonna feel if we rip chloe and those kids away from him.

Eric: You know, you and I, we spent a lot of time together after nicole died. You were--you were my lifeline.

Sarah: And you were mine when I found out rex had cheated, which is pretty much the worst time in my life.

Eric: Yeah, it made me mad just to think that he'd even look at another woman when he had you.

Sarah: Well, now he knows how it feels.

Eric: Yeah, I'd say he was pretty mad when he found out about that kiss.

Sarah: Yeah, he was mad at you. When he and I were alone, it...he just seemed hurt. And sad. I mean, he told me that he'd--he'd wait as long as it took for me to be sure that i wanted to be with him.

Eric: Yeah, well, he didn't have to wait very long.

Sarah: No. Actually, surprised myself when I said yes.

Eric: You did?

Sarah: Yeah, it just-- it felt like the right thing to do. And when I realized that... whatever I was feeling for you wasn't being returned and that we were never gonna... just saw things clearly in that moment.

Eric: And that's why you accepted his proposal?

Sarah: Rex loves me, eric. I'm not sure I'll ever meet anyone who loves me as much.

Rex: Maggie, I completely understand that you want what's best for your daughter, but you do know that she forgave me, right?

Maggie: Yeah, that's what she tells me.

Rex: Okay, and I hope that you can do the same, 'cause i can promise you--as I promised her--I will never betray her again.

Maggie: I want to believe that. But from experience, people don't change all that much.

Rex: You married victor. Obviously, you think he's changed.

Maggie: He isn't perfect.

Rex: Who is, maggie? I'm not perfect. Sarah's not perfect. We've both done things that have hurt each other.

Maggie: Oh. You mean because of the tryst with xander.

Rex: All I'm saying is that people make mistakes.

Maggie: Rex, let's be clear: You two weren't together when that happened. And for you to compare what she did to what you did to her...

Rex: What about eric? You know she kissed eric?

Maggie: I'm aware my daughter has wrestled with her feelings for eric.

Rex: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Feelings? Sarah told me that it was a crush. What did she tell you?

Victor: So you want me to believe that you're looking out for my best interest?

Kate: I can help you make titan great again.

Victor: Says the woman who instigated a fraudulent lawsuit that almost burned the whole thing down.

Kate: Oh, please. Come on. It's ancient history.

Victor: Come on, kate. It's your old pal victor. Why titan? Surely it can't be purely nostalgia.

Kate: You really wanna know, old pal? It's the best way to take down dimera and crush stefan.

Stefan: Let's see what you got on this new lead.

Eli: We brought some photos for chloe to take a look at.

Chloe: I told you, I didn't see who shot at us.

Lani: We know, but maybe you've seen these guys around the club watching you.

Chloe: Okay. No. No. No. Wait. I...

Stefan: You recognize him?

Chloe: Yeah, I think this guy looks familiar.

Eli: What about him?

Chloe: Oh, my god. Yes. Yes. I think I've seen these guys.

Brady: Do I have your attention now?

Gabi: You do.

Brady: Good. 'Cause we have to move on this fast. I think he's still raw from losing charlotte. If he lost chloe right now, I think he wouldn't be able to handle it.

Gabi: Okay, all right, but you know he's not gonna let her go without a fight.

Brady: I know. Which is where you come in.

Gabi: How? What--what could I do to come between stefan and chloe?

Brady: Seduce him.

Rex: Maggie, what did sarah tell you about her feelings for eric?

Maggie: Well, that's not for me to say. Ask sarah.

Rex: I already did. Look, you can't just drop a bomb on me like this and expect me to let it go.

Maggie: Well, it's not for me to say. Ask your fiancéE.

Rex: She said that she kissed him. She admitted to that. But she said it was nothing. It didn't mean anything. We're supposed to be married soon. If you know something different, maggie, please, you gotta tell me now.

Sarah: I know it feels like I'm rushing into this marriage-- rushing in like I always do.

Eric: As long as it's what you want.

Sarah: What I want.

Eric: Did you tell your mother?

Sarah: Yeah.

Eric: How does she feel about the wedding being back on?

Sarah: She... has her concerns. She's worried that rex will hurt me again. Are you?

Eric: This is your life, sarah. I mean, if... it's rex who you want to spend it with, then nobody should stand in your way.

Sarah: You're happy for me?

Eric: I'm happy for you... if you're happy.

[Laughs] Of course I'm happy for you.

Sarah: You have no idea how much that means to me.

[Tender music]

Maggie: Eric was supportive of sarah when she found out that you had cheated on her. And she was there to help him out when...when he was dealing with nicole's death by caring for holly.

Rex: I know this. I understand all this. And I'm happy--I'm glad that they were there for each other, to help each other through dark times.

Maggie: They have a nice connection.

Rex: Yeah, they do.

Maggie: Sarah can trust him.

Rex: And she can't trust me?

Maggie: I'm not sure she can.

Rex: What about when eric went behind brady's back with nicole?

Maggie: That was different.

Rex: Oh, god. Really? How? Maggie, you of all people, supporting eric when he was responsible for your son's death?

Maggie: I forgave him for that.

Rex: Oh, my--come on. So you forgave eric for literally killing your son, but you can't forgive me for cheating on your daughter?

Maggie: Being angry with eric won't bring my son, daniel, back. But this is happening now, and I can't be sure that you won't hurt my daughter again.

Eric: So is rex okay, knowing about the kiss?

Sarah: He understands that it didn't mean anything.

Eric: I told brady that rex knows.

Sarah: Oh, good. Now he can't hold that over your head or force you to help him get chloe away from stefan.

Eric: Yeah, well, I have you to thank for that.

Sarah: Sure. How did brady take it?

Eric: He wasn't happy. Put a real guilt trip on me. Said if anything was to happen to holly while living in stefan's house, it would be my fault.

Sarah: Do you think that she's safe?

Eric: Chloe's a good mother. I know that she would never put holly in harm's way. But stefan dimera--

Sarah: He's bad news.

Eric: I mean, what if something did happen? You know, brady's right. I would never... be able to live with myself.

Victor: Now, there's the kate that I know... and don't particularly like.

Kate: You want to dismantle dimera just as much as I do.

Victor: Mm, probably more so.

Kate: Okay, what's with the hesitation, then?

Victor: Well, I want to best stefan dimera... but then, I want to best all my competitors.

Kate: So?

Victor: So with you, this is all purely personal, and I'm not sure I want to get caught up in it.

Kate: [Sighs] Sounds like you're afraid of a personal grudge, I don't know. Sounds like you're scared, victor.

Lani: You've definitely seen these men?

Chloe: Yeah, I've definitely seen them at the club.

Stefan: So you'll bring them in for questioning, then?

Lani: Yesterday we might have.

Chloe: Yesterday?

Eli: According to our informant, they have already left salem. They're out of our jurisdiction.

Stefan: I don't care about jurisdiction; I care about keeping these people off the streets.

Eli: Well, unlike you, we have to follow the laws. And if you and ben weston would have shared that information yesterday, we'd have these people in custody already.

Stefan: Oh, so you're gonna blame the incompetence of the salem pd on me? How about you two do your jobs and keep killers from walking around?

Eli: We're doing everything we can.

Stefan: You know what? Get out of my house. I can handle this on my own.

Chloe: Stefan, stop.

Stefan: No, no, no. We don't need them.

Chloe: Please. These men have threatened my children. Please do whatever you can.

Lani: We will. I promise. We'll be in touch with updates.

Chloe: Thank you.

[Tense music]

What the hell are you doing? Are you trying to get me killed?

Gabi: You want me to seduce stefan?

Brady: What, you don't think you could pull it off?

[Powerful music]

Gabi: G--the guy disgusts me. Okay, I can't even be close to him--ugh!

Brady: Gabi, hold on.

Gabi: No, no, no, no.

Brady: Hear me out. Hear me out.

Gabi: Brady, it's a no.

Brady: You've already told me that you're not interested in feeding any more inside information on the guy to me, all right?

Gabi: He's suspicious of me already.

Brady: I understand that. What if... you controlled dimera? And then you wouldn't have to worry about it. You would also have complete control over gabi chic.

Gabi: Hold on a second. Wait a minute. Wait. How did this go from I'm seducing stefan to now I'm controlling dimera?

Brady: It's very simple. Step one: You seduce him. Step two: You marry him. Step three: You take him for everything he's got. You take his business. You take his money. You take his heart. And once you have all those things in your hands, we burn his ass to the ground.

Victor: Believe me, I'm not afraid of stefano dimera's bastard son.

Kate: Then why not join the fight?

Victor: What's your main gripe in this, anyway?

Kate: Stefan dimera is a blight on salem. And it's not going to end until someone puts a stop to him. So what do you say we team up and give him a lesson in respect?

Chloe: The police are trying to protect me.

Stefan: The police are worthless. They don't help people like us. Chloe, when you moved in here, i promised you that I would do everything in my power to keep you safe, and I hope you still feel like I'm following through on that.

Chloe: I do, but I also feel like you're frustrated because i can't give you what you really want.

Stefan: Do I want something more than friendship? Yes. Chloe, I can make this better for you. Just like you can make it better for me. We would be so good together.

Gabi: You know you sound crazy, right? I'm supposed to just-- I'm supposed to seduce stefan, and then he's gonna ask me to marry him?

Brady: Gabi, the man has been a pariah since he came to town, okay? He has no friends. He's lonely. The only woman that's shown him any attention was a glitch in abigail's brain. And he fell madly in love with that. Trust me. You show him a little bit of tenderness, make him feel a little special, he's gonna be putty in your arms.

Gabi: You really think it's that easy?

Brady: Yeah, I do. I do. I think if you find a time to just spontaneously kiss him or something, it'll happen.

Gabi: [Inhales sharply]

Brady: What?

Gabi: Well, brady, I, uh-- I already kissed him.

Brady: What?

Gabi: Yep. Shocked the hell out of him.

Brady: We-- hold on a second. I thought you two hated each other.

Gabi: Well, it was a-- it was a hate kiss.

Brady: It was a hate ki--

Gabi: Mm-hmm.

Brady: Hate kiss. How did he respond to your hate kiss?

Gabi: Well, after he got over the shock, he said it did nothing for him, but I know he was lying.

Brady: Ah. He was into it, wasn't he?

Gabi: What can I say? I'm a good kisser.

Brady: Good for you. This is perfect. Do you understand how perfect this is? You've already laid the seeds. All you have to do is let him know how much that his kiss affected you. Can you do that?

Gabi: You forgot what I just told you. I hate him. I-I think he's a disgusting human being.

Brady: You know what, gabi? I do too. But you have to look at the good side. You know, he's got this brooding thing going on. He has money; he has power. You know, look at those things.

Gabi: What are you suggesting?

Brady: I think what I'm suggesting is, you probably wouldn't have kissed him if there wasn'T... a little bit of you that wanted to.

Eric: You know, I think about nicole's last words, and there's this part of me that just wants to break into the dimera mansion, grab holly, and run.

Sarah: I don't blame you.

Eric: Yeah, but when I see holly and how happy she is with chloe and parker, I just think i did the right thing.

Sarah: Yeah. I did notice that when they visit, she has finally stopped asking where her mom is.

Eric: It breaks my heart. You know, but I'm glad she's adjusting.

Sarah: I will never let her forget who her mother is, you know, but it-- right now she needs stability.

Eric: So you think I'm right by not being in the middle of it?

Sarah: I do. Not that my opinion means anything.

Eric: Hey. No, no. Don't say that. What you think means a lot. Sarah, you will always be important to me.

Rex: Maggie, with all due respect, it doesn't matter what you think. Sarah has accepted my proposal.

Maggie: Have you asked yourself why--why now?

Rex: Because she's forgiven me. She's trusting me again.

Maggie: And you're not the least little bit concerned that it's related to eric?

Rex: No, because there's nothing going on between them. Sarah accepted my proposal because she wants to share a life with me.

Maggie: I hope that's true. 'Cause I would hate to think that she was only getting married to get over someone else. And if I were you, I wouldn't want that either.

Kate: Victor, come on. You know that I could go anywhere with this offer, and i would think that you would have learned by now that it's better to have me working with you than against you.

Victor: Well, sometimes it's too hard to tell the difference.

Kate: Really? I mean, really? Have you forgotten what a great team we made? The company was the strongest it's ever been. The power was intoxicating.

Victor: I haven't forgotten.

Kate: I know that we've clashed over the years. But we clash so often for the same reason that we were such a great team together. Because we both have the same killer instinct. And I really hate to say it, but you have lost your edge these past few years. You lost it when you married maggie.

Rex: [Laughs] You really don't want me to marry sarah, do you?

Maggie: What I want is for my daughter to be happy. And I have serious doubts that you're the man for the job.

Rex: Oh, but eric is the man for the job?

Maggie: I didn't say that, but I'm worried that she's rushing into something with you to avoid her attraction to eric.

Rex: Oh, god, I'm not-- I'm not gonna do this anymore. I love sarah. Eric does not love sarah. In fact, he said that to her face. Now, excuse me. I'm off shift right now. I haven't eaten a damn thing all day.

Maggie: Isn't it possible eric wasn't telling sarah the truth when he said he didn't care?

Rex: And why the hell would he do that?

Maggie: Because he didn't want to hurt you. I'll be back to check on will later.

Chloe: I can see how much you want to be with me, and it's flattering.

Stefan: This is more than just physical. Chloe, you are special. And you know I've already bonded with holly. I see so much of myself in her, orphaned at such a young age. All I want to do is provide her with love and safety. And the same goes for parker.

Chloe: And I love seeing how good you've been with the kids, and it's been so great for them too.

Stefan: Look, I'm not trying to pressure you. I'm just trying to be honest about my feelings. I think we could be really good together.

Chloe: And I promise you that we will talk about this once those men are caught.

Stefan: And they will be. I'll call ben. And as soon as that happens, we can start to build a life together.

[Soft music]

Gabi: I am not attracted to stefan.

Brady: It's fine. Doesn't matter. It's irrelevant anyway. I'm not here to make a love connection. What matters is that he is into you.

Gabi: All right. Let's just say he's into me. Let's just say I do get him into bed. Why would he marry me?

Brady: Because he wants a wife and kids so badly. He has fixated on the idea, and you and ari are an instant family for him. This is gonna work. So get on in there and do it. Make him fall for you.

Gabi: It's very easy for you to say. You're not the one that has to get him into bed.

Brady: I think that if you thought this was a bad idea and couldn't possibly work, you would have walked away a while ago, and yet you are still here. Go get him, tiger.

Eric: Thank you.

Sarah: For what?

Eric: Being my sounding board, my friend.

Sarah: Any time. You know, just 'cause I'm marrying your brother doesn't mean that I can't still be here for you.

Eric: Back at you.

Sarah: You know, when we were comforting holly after you'd lost nicole, it meant a lot to me. The world felt like a dark place, and seeing you--how loving and caring you were in the midst of all that struggle, it just gave me hope.

Eric: I was having trouble finding hope for myself.

Sarah: But you did find it. You're a good influence on me, eric brady.

Eric: [Laughs] I don't know about that.

Sarah: Come on. You are. You...when I bounce off the walls and act on pure impulse, like when I went off on that poor couple here in the pub, you're always there to slow me down and remind me about what's important. I wanna be more like you.

Eric: Oh, stop it. Stop, 'cause you're perfect just the way you are.

Sarah: Thank you for saying that.

Eric: I mean it. I wouldn't change a thing.

[Door slams shut]

Rex: Am I interrupting?

Victor: Marrying maggie did not cost me my edge.

Kate: How many times has she demanded that you back off from being a tough and ruthless man?

Victor: Maggie and I have an understanding.

Kate: Yeah, the understanding is that you are not who you really are, and how does she reward you for that? Giving you a cup of tea and a homemade muffin?

Victor: Don't talk about maggie that way.

Kate: Okay. All right. That's fine. I'm sure you and maggie have a lovely life, but I know you miss the game. And I know you miss winning. And if the two of us team up again, it will be just like the old days, and we will crush our enemies into dust, and the rest of the world will tremble in fear. Oh, look who's here.

Maggie: Hello, kate.

Kate: So why don't you think about what I've said. Take good care of him, maggie.

Maggie: Oh, I will. What was that all about? You know what? I don't even care. How about we, um, grab a cup of tea or something else?

Eli: You hungry? We can get something at the café.

Lani: No. I'm okay.

Eli: What's up?

Lani: I just--I keep thinking about chloe and what she's going through, how--how worried she is about her kids.

Eli: It's a scary situation.

Lani: I still feel it, that overprotectiveness that only comes from being a mother. And even though david abraham isn't here with us, um, in my heart I'm always his mom.

Eli: And you'll always be his mom... forever.

Lani: I miss him, eli. Some days more than others. I'll always miss him.

Eli: I miss him too.

Brady: Hey. That security detail out there, is that for you?

Chloe: Mm-hmm. Stefan's committed to keeping me safe.

Brady: Well, I'm glad to hear that.

Chloe: Brady, I need him right now.

Brady: I kn--chloe, your priority is protecting your kids, and I respect that. If stefan can provide that for you, then good for him.

Chloe: So does that mean you will stop meddling in our lives?

Brady: [Laughs] Meddling. Yeah. I know that you can make your own choices.

Chloe: Seriously.

Brady: That's what you want. You want me to back off a little bit, I'll do that. I'll respect your wishes. No problem.

Chloe: Thank you, brady. That means a lot.

[Suspenseful music]

Gabi: [Sighs] I brought the paperwork for you to look at.

Stefan: You could have sent a messenger.

Gabi: Well, he was late, and we are on a time crunch. What?

Stefan: Nothing.

Gabi: So initial right there. Yep, sign right there. One more initial. Yeah.

Stefan: You sure it was an unreliable messenger? Not because you wanted to see me?

Gabi: Why would you say that?

Stefan: I don't know. Maybe the kiss we shared.

Gabi: Stefan, don't flatter yourself. That kiss meant nothing.

Stefan: Maybe you haven't been able to stop thinking about it.

Gabi: I think you're the one that hasn't been able to stop thinking about it.

Sarah: Rex. Hi.

Rex: Hi.
