Eric: You want me to threaten chloe for custody of holly because you don't like that she's living with stefan?

Brady: She and those kids are in danger.

Eric: And you're out of your mind.

Brady: Listen--listen to me. You're gonna help me do this, or I'm gonna be forced to tell rex what happened between you and sarah.

Eric: No. You're blackmailing me. Which seems to be in your comfort zone, since you blackmailed nicole and now she's dead.

Brady: See, you're just-- you're getting distracted again. Listen to me, I'm gonna do whatever I have to do to make sure that chloe and her kids are safe. And you will help me do this.

[Tense music]

[Intimate music]

Stefan: I'm sorry, I-- I didn't mean to sound pushy or needy.

Chloe: Well, you kind of sound both.

Stefan: Fair enough.

Chloe: Well, when you kissed me, it was... nice.

Stefan: "Nice"? "Nice"?

Chloe: Okay, it--it was very nice.

Stefan: Uh-huh.

Gabi: Don't tell me you're actually falling for that jerk?

[Tense music]

Claire: [Laughs] So... how do you feel about tripp and haley getting married? Yeah. Me too.

Tripp: Hey, where's the "yes to the dress" face?

Haley: Um, was that supposed to be funny?

Tripp: I thought a little, yeah.

Haley: [Sighs] I'm sorry. I-I'm sorry, I just... if ice figures out that this is a green card wedding, then instead of walking down the aisle, tripp, we could be walking straight into prison cells.

[Forlorn music]

Sonny: Okay, so this should take care of your headache. Oh, my god, will! Will? Will? Will! Hey.

Tripp: Look--look, haley. Haley, hey. We're doing this, okay? It's scary, I get that. There's a lot of unknowns, and a lot of things could go wrong, so we focus and we handle it.

Haley: Yeah, by, uh, picking out a stupid wedding dress?

Tripp: Yeah, yeah. Ice is gonna question us hard about this marriage, so if we're gonna need to look real, you might, you know, want to get a little excitement about marrying the love of your life.

Haley: You did give me a free burger once.

Tripp: That's the spirit. There you go. Okay, so how about we get our story straight?

Haley: Okay, and, uh, what story is this?

Tripp: The one about where you and I fell in love?

[Suspenseful music]

Claire: [Laughs] Look, here's the thing, jj. I get that tripp is just doing his duty as a friend. And I support that, I really do. However, um... would it--would it not make a lot more sense for you to marry haley? And it's not like you don't actually have real feelings for her. So I was just wondering... if you could just try talking to her again.

Jj: He's convinced that, uh-- that marrying me will only make me more of a target for my dad.

Claire: Okay, so you go romantic, jj. Just do it. I promise you, she will be saying yes before she knows what hit her.

[Phone beeps] Girls love that stuff.

Jj: I'm sorry, I have a-- I've gotta go. Emergency.

[Melancholy music]

Sonny: Okay, I just called 911. Hey, help is on the way. You have to hold on for me, okay? We're finally together. Everything that we want is right in front of us, so you have to be okay. You need to be okay.

[Suspenseful music]

Chloe: Whatever's between me and stefan is none of your business.

Gabi: He went with one rose. Couldn't spring for the full dozen?

Chloe: Mm. Let me guess, you're here on business?

Gabi: Well, it's the only reason I'd step foot in this house.

Chloe: Yeah, I almost believe that.

Gabi: Well, I actually don't really care what you think, chloe.

Chloe: You couldn't wait to run to brady to tell him that stefan kissed me. Why would you do that?

[Percussive music]

Eric: Isn't this chloe's decision? About where she lives, where she feels safest?

Brady: "Safe." Do you know that that place was shot up yesterday? Chloe's vulnerable. She's frightened right now, eric. And--and stefan's gonna take advantage of that. I need your help with this, man.

Eric: "Help"? You're blackmailing me.

Brady: You know, I was-- I was there when... when nicole died in that explosion and she asked you to protect her daughter. Well, there were bullets flying around that place yesterday, eric, that doesn't sound too safe to me. So please be a man of your word and help me protect her. Keep your promise.

Eric: It's how you go about doing it. You're blackmailing me into suing for custody of holly.

Brady: It's what i gotta do, man. If that's what it takes to convince chloe to get out of stefan's house, I have to do that.

Eric: Not a chance in hell.

[Radio chatter]

Will: What--what happened?

Sonny: Oh, thank god.

Jj: Hey, what do you remember?

Will: Um... I remember having a huge headache, and then... feeling woozy. And then I passed out.

Sonny: I-I came back in the room and I saw him lying on the floor.

Will: Well, I feel-- I feel fine now, so--

Jj: No, no, no, not so fast. You--you had a headache and you fainted. You need to go to the hospital and get checked out.

Will: Uh, but--but I'm--

Sonny: He's going, he's going. I'm coming with you.

Jj: Excuse me.

[Suspenseful music]

Eve: Jack just doesn't serve up sound bites, he delivers. And the proof is haley chen, who's gonna be deported in 30 days all thanks to jack's efforts--

[Knocking on door] I'm going to have to call you back. Just--okay, just a minute!

Claire: Oh, thank god you're here, eve. This is a complete disaster.

Eve: Okay, claire, you've gotta stop freaking out here. I told you that I would protect you. Everything is good.

Claire: No, it's not good! No! Jj came up with this brilliant idea that haley needs to marry an american citizen so that she can stay in the country, right?

Eve: What, jj's gonna marry haley?

Claire: Well, no, she turned him down.

Eve: Oh, thank god.

Claire: But tripp--you see, tripp stepped in. And haley said yes.

Eve: [Sighs]

Tripp: Okay, so the best kind of lie is the one that sticks as close to the truth as possible.

Haley: Okay, so it's-- it's easier for us to remember.

Tripp: Exactly, ice will probably question us separately, so we need to make sure our story is rock solid.

Haley: All right. Let's do this.

Tripp: All right. All right, so, uh, the first part's easy. How we met, all right? That's kind of cute too, right? I mean, I got burned at work, I went to the hospital, and you took care of me.

Haley: Actually, your--your stepmom, kayla, took care of you. I just--I just assisted.

Tripp: Yes, but when I saw you standing with her at the nurse's station, it was... love at first sight.

[Tender music]

Eric: We've already had this conversation. Nicole's letter made it very clear that she wanted chloe to raise holly.

Brady: Eric, stefan is preying on her fear.

Eric: And you also seem very jealous.

Brady: I'm not jea-- I'm concerned. Can I be concerned?

Eric: Well, it seems jealous to me.

Brady: You don't know what you're talking about.

Eric: No, I know that you and chloe have a long, complicated history. Seems like there's a lot more going on between the two of you.

[Dramatic music]

Gabi: I didn't run to brady and tell him that you kissed stefan. I was at the kiriakis mansion hanging out with my daughter and brady happened to be home.

Chloe: So, what, the kiss just came up in conversation?

Gabi: You know what, so what if I told him? Maybe he has a right to know what his ex-wife is up to.

Chloe: Emphasis on "ex."

Gabi: Whatever.

Chloe: You know, you always seem to conveniently be here, claiming to be here for business, but the only business you seem to be interested in is mine.

Stefan: Are you ladies fighting over me?

[Intense music]

Chloe: I was just trying to figure out why gabi here felt the need to report to brady that she saw us kiss.

Stefan: Oh, because gabi is a pain in the ass who doesn't understand the word "boundaries."

Chloe: Thank you for breakfast. It was delicious.

Stefan: My pleasure. Going to the club?

Chloe: Yeah.

Stefan: All right. Car's waiting for you. Driver will stay with you all day to make sure you're safe.

Chloe: Thank you.

Stefan: Yeah.

[Cool music]

Gabi: Really? Puppy-dog eyes?

Brady: I have my reasons... for protecting chloe. Just like you have your reasons for protecting sarah.

Eric: And like I told you, there's nothing going on between sarah and me.

Brady: Like you told me that there was nothing going on between you and nicole.

Eric: And this time it's different.

Brady: Mm-hmm. Here's the deal. You are gonna get chloe and those kids out of that house, or I'm gonna have to tell rex about the not-so-platonic kiss that you shared with his fiancéE.

[Dramatic music]

[Elevator dings]

[Monitor beeping]

Rex: Hey, there, nephew.

[Laughs] So, headache... fainting. Man, you've had a busy morning. I'll tell you what, let's run some tests and figure out what happened.

Will: Hmm. I know what happened. Leo, uh, put a curse on me.

Rex: What was that?

Sarah: Sorry, a curse?

Sonny: It--it's called mati. It's a, um--evil eye? It's a greek thing.

Red: Oh, okay.

Will: Yeah, I know it sounds ridiculous, but it-- everything played out exactly the way leo said it would. He said I was gonna get a headache, then I got a headache. He said, you know, it was gonna get worse, and then I-- I passed out, so... oh, my god.

Sonny: What?

Will: Leo's mother just poisoned my grandma. What if he just did the same thing to me?

[Suspenseful music]

Haley: [Laughs] Wow, you are a pretty good liar.

Tripp: It's for a good cause, you know. So how about you give it a shot?

Haley: When I first saw you, I thought you were cute.

Tripp: [Imitates buzzer]

Haley: [Laughs] What? What was wrong with that?

Tripp: No, no, no, you-- you gotta sell it, right?

Haley: Right, okay. Um... when I first saw you I thought you were really cute?

Tripp: [Laughs] I-I don't suppose you could try that again but just, you know, with a little more feeling behind it.

Haley: Okay, okay, all right. Just don't--don't make fun of me.

Tripp: No, no, no.

Haley: [Clears throat] When kayla first asked me to assist with treating your arm, I-- I was such a nervous wreck. You were so cute, and... I was just really scared that I was gonna screw things up, but you were really sweet. And you even made me laugh, which isn't--it's not easy to do, but I mean, come on, that whole thing about you being afraid of rabbits? Aww.

Tripp: Whoa, no, I-I never actually said I was afraid, you know? And--and plus, who really wants to have a rabbit farm when they grow up? I mean, 4-foot rabbits? Really, that'S...

Haley: All right, all I know is--is that I thought you were adorable. A little weird about rabbits, but... adorable. All right, how was that?

Tripp: Out of the park. You know, you're not such a bad liar yourself.

Haley: Thank you. I think.

Both: [Laughing]

Claire: So... what are we gonna do?

Eve: Okay. We will see this for what it is. It's opportunity. We'll expose the wedding as a fraud. It'll play like gangbusters to jack's fan base and it'll help him become the next mayor of salem. We'll have a--we'll have a press conference. We'll put you front and center. You can really bring all that emotion. Tell everybody how this girl has manipulated you-- your boyfriend into this scam and how she's gaming the system. Because that's what those people do!

Claire: What? "Those people"?

Eve: You know what I'm talking about, claire. Come on, I'm gonna--

Claire: Stop, stop! Eve, wait, wait. I'm sorry, I can't do this.

Eve: What? (Dad) got it?

Tripp: And then the next time I saw you, I asked you to dinner.

Haley: Uh, because the chef offered you a free meal to make up for burning your arm.

Tripp: Yes, and then I told you that I wanted to thank you for patching me up. But the truth is, I think I would have asked you to dinner anyway, even if the cook wasn't offering me a freebie. Even though...

Haley: You had a girlfriend.

Tripp: Mm-hmm, but--but I was realizing that what I had with claire was more of a rebound kind of thing. And whenever I found out that her and ben teamed up to break up ciara and me, we had a big blowup fight and I took off.

Haley: But then you two made up, right?

Tripp: Yes, but what if we didn't? What if we broke up instead?

Claire: Tripp, tripp, I'm so sorry. Please forgive me. Please tell me we can get past this.

Tripp: No, every time we get past one of your lies, okay, there's a new one.

Claire: I'm gonna change! I'm gonna change, I swear! I swear to god, I will never lie to you again. I'm gonna be totally honest starting right now. Please, please just tell me we can get past this and we'll be okay.

Tripp: You know what, maybe I'm the one that needs to be honest right now, okay? Part of the reason I can't be with you is because I have feelings for someone else.

[Dramatic music]

Claire: You know, tripp thinks I'm being this-- this amazing girlfriend, right? And I'm practically helping haley pick out her wedding dress. And the way he looks at me... he's just so proud of me. We're closer than we've ever been, so... I'm sorry, but there is no way that I can go public with this. He will dump me, and he will hate me forever. So I'm sorry, but I'm not gonna do it.

Eve: Okay. Listen, you have been great through all of this. You've really delivered for-- for jack and me. You handed haley right to us and now this. This information is gold. Of course, it would have been nice to throw a little red meat to jack's base, but it's okay. You've given us enough to work with. We can proceed... without you, so... no worries. I'm just gonna make some phone calls here and get things going. Is there anything else, honey?

Claire: I just, um... I don't want tripp to hate me.

Eve: You're crazy about this boy, aren't you?

Claire: Yeah, I really am. And I don't want to lose him.

Eve: Well, there may be something that I can do to help.

[Tender music]

Haley: Okay, okay, so that was when we ran into each other and you offered me a free dinner after you broke up with claire and I fought with jj.

Tripp: Mm-hmm, and neither one of us wanted to talk about what was bugging us.

Mm-hmm, but we went to dinner anyway and ended up talking about pretty much everything in the world.

Tripp: And that is when we really connected.

Haley: You're so funny. I've never met anyone like you before.

Tripp: What, somebody that likes hot sauce on their french fries?

Haley: Somebody who has hot sauce right here and still pulls off being totally cool.

Tripp: Oh, you think I'm cool?

Haley: Yeah, I think...

Tripp: What?

Haley: Never mind. It's--it's nothing.

Tripp: No, no, no. No, no, say it. This is a judge-free zone.

Haley: I just...

[Sighs] I've always felt a little out of place here in salem. This country. But right now, here with you, I feel like I'm right where I'm supposed to be.

[Romantic music]

[Monitor beeping]

Jj: How's the patient?

Rex: Good, we are running the full panel. Testing for toxins.

Jj: Poison?

Sonny: Yeah, diana poisoned marlena, so we were just, you know, wondering, what if leo did the same thing to will?

Jj: Well, I don't know. When--when I arrived, will's vitals were strong and... looks like they still are. If toxins were in his system, wouldn't his heart rate, and bp, respiration reflect that?

Sarah: Normally, yeah, but we don't want to rule anything out.

Will: Yeah, including the evil eye.

Rex: Still stuck on that, man?

Will: I-I'm just saying that it's--it's creepy that all of this happened right after leo cursed me.

Rex: Tell you what, I will bet you a six-pack of beer that when we get your blood test results back, there will be a very logical and realistic explanation.

Will: You're on.

Rex: And fyi... I'm an ipa guy.

[Monitor beeping]

Jj: Hey.

Sonny: So you--you really don't think it was poison?

Jj: No, I-I don'T. But we'll know one way or the other when we get the results. So, yeah, stop worrying. You, too. All right? Check on you later, all right?

[Suspenseful music]

-We're doing karaoke later, and you're gonna sing.

Haley: Um, I mean, does that--does that work? First dinner together and we-- we already have our first kiss? It's not too quick?

Tripp: We've known each other for a couple of weeks and we're getting married, so we gotta sell it. We're--we're head over heels, you know? We're two crazy kids in love. We don't want to wait.

Haley: Yeah, to get a green card.

Tripp: Well, that--that we'll keep to ourselves. Uh, but we can use the whole "illegal" thing. I mean, jj's dad is the one who ratted you out, and you came to me. And there's no way I was gonna let the love of my life get deported. And so I brought you here and I hid you.

Haley: And I realized that it wasn't just... feeling gratitude towards you. I realized how much I love you.

Tripp: And then one thing led to another and, uh...

[Laughs]

[Steamy music]

[Knocking on door] Don't worry, it's not like you have to hide anymore.

[Knocking continues]

[Clears throat] Hey, what's up?

Jj: Yeah, I, uh--I need to talk to you about this marriage. I don't think it's gonna work.

[Tense music]

Eve: Here you go.

Claire: Thanks. Eve, what if tripp is just doing this whole fake-marriage thing so that he can break up with me?

Eve: Claire, come on. You really need to dial down the paranoia, here, 'cause if tripp really wanted to break up with you, there are a hell of a lot easier ways to do that than to marry somebody he barely knows with a target on her back, okay?

Claire: I know, haley just seems so good.

[Both laugh] So cool. Meanwhile, I'm just freaking out because every other word out of my mouth to tripp is a complete lie, and it...

[Laughs] Sorry, sorry I'm such a mess.

Eve: Oh, but you have every right to be a mess, honey. The man you are in a legitimate relationship with is gonna marry another girl. And, what, he expects you just to be okay with that?

Claire: Well, do I have a choice?

Eve: Well, you should be furious with him.

[Stammers] Course, you guys are committed, and he's--expects you to just-- the two of you actually to sneak around while he parades around town with another woman on his arm as--as his wife? Does he not even care how that makes you feel? What, he expects for you to act like you have no feelings for him at all?

Eric: Sarah. Hey, I... heard that will fainted. Is he okay?

Sarah: He's conscious and alert. Um, rex just took a blood sample to the lab, so we should know something soon.

Eric: That's good. Thanks for the information.

Sarah: Hey. There's something else going on with you, isn't there?

Eric: I just ran into brady. He wants me to use my connection with holly to force chloe to move out of stefan's house.

Sarah: Yeah, he, uh-- he brought that up with me too, he said because holly's my niece and because you promised nicole that we should do something, but I don't know what he expects us to do.

Eric: Yeah, well, it's very clear to me. He wants me to threaten to reopen a custody suit for holly if chloe doesn't move out of the dimera mansion.

Sarah: That's insane. You're not gonna go along with it, are you?

Eric: He said if I don't he's gonna tell rex about our kiss.

[Carefree music playing]

Chloe: Why are you here?

Brady: 'Cause I wanna talk.

Chloe: Oh, what, another lecture on how I should live my life? Well, I don't really have the time or patience for that.

Brady: Chloe... I wanted to apologize to you. Think I came on a little strong.

Chloe: Oh, is that what you're calling it? "Coming on strong"? What were you thinking kissing me like that? What was that move? Like marking your territory? A big fat warning to stefan that I'm off limits?

Brady: Maybe it was more than that.

Gabi: My pleasure. Stefan.

Stefan: What? Oh, you waiting for a rose? Yeah, don't hold your breath. It's not gonna happen.

Sarah: This is ridiculous. All because of a stupid kiss that was completely-- and embarrassingly-- all my fault. Brady's an ass. He doesn't get to hold this over your head. I'm gonna talk to him.

Eric: No, no, you are not.

Sarah: Yes, I am. It's my mess, and I'm gonna clean it up.

Haley: Jj. I-I really appreciate your concern, but... my mind's made up.

Jj: If you'd just hear me out--

Haley: It's not gonna change anything. Okay? I'm just gonna get material for our project.

[Melancholy music]

Jj: It's pretty crazy.

Tripp: Yeah, no, off the charts. But, you know, we're gonna make it work, okay? I'm not about to let your dad railroad haley out of the country just to score a point.

Jj: Yeah, well, we're definitely on the same page about my father. But, look, if you-- if you really want to help haley just think this through. There's a hell of a lot better chance that people will believe haley and I are the real deal. But you, everyone knows you have a girlfriend.

Tripp: Who understands.

Jj: Really? 'Cause I-I talked to claire, and I'm pretty sure she's as against this marriage as-- as I am.

[Suspenseful music]

Claire: One minute we're planning this romantic date night, and then the next, tripp is announcing that he's marrying haley.

[Laughs] And, you know, you're right, eve. You're totally right. He does just expect me to slap this smile on my face and totally understand!

[Scoffs] I just wish there was some way we could blow up this wedding before it even happens. But how would that be possible without risking losing tripp forever if he found out?

Eve: I think I know exactly how.

Gabi: You think that I want you?

Stefan: It's obvious.

Gabi: You are straight-up loco.

Stefan: Mm, and loco turns you on, doesn't it?

Gabi: You destroyed my life. You framed me for murder, kidnapped me, put a hot poker in my face.

Tripp: No, no, not at all. Uh, I was actually just about to ask my cousin here to be my best man.

Jj: Yeah, yeah. I was--I was just about to accept. Um, I'm--I'm just... I'm not sure ice is--is going to believe that you two actually fell in love.

[Suspenseful music]

Both: We got this.

Eve: All we have to do is to get tripp to admit on tape that his relationship with haley is a fraud. Then jack and I make the public declaration and then, poof. No more wedding.

Claire: Okay, but tripp is not stupid enough to let you and jack back into the loft.

Eve: Yeah, I know. So I have another idea on how we can get what we need.

[Suspenseful music]

Stefan: What the hell?

Stefan: Get the hell out of my house before I do something we both regret! Get out!

Gabi: [Exhales shakily]

Chloe: [Sighs] When you kissed me, I did feel something more than just friendship. But, brady, our marriage wasn't exactly sunshine and roses.

Brady: I know. I know, I was there. But we're a little older now. We're a little older now. Not much, but... hopefully we're a little wiser. I think maybe we could get it right this time.

[Dishware clattering]

Chloe: Uh, I don't know, brady. I can't think of romance right now, not when I'm on the top of some cartel's hit list.

Brady: That was not a "no," was it?
