Jordan: [Nervous laugh]

Kate: Jordan ridgeway. I heard you were back in town. Mm.

Jordan: Kate, hi.

Kate: [Scoffs] Well, what do we have here?

[Suspenseful music]

[Cell phone dials]

Ben: Come on, ciara. Pick up the damn phone.

[Phone ringing]

[Eerie music]

[Breathes raggedly]

[Phone rings] What the hell?

[Knock at door]

Hope: Police!

Eli: Open up!

Ben: [Breathes heavily]

Brady: There's no security out front.

Chloe: I'm fine.

Brady: No, two members of a mexican drug cartel tried to kill you yesterday, chloe. I'm not taking any chances.

Chloe: Brady, seriously--

Brady: It's done. I've hired a team of bodyguards to watch you, to watch your mother, to watch your kids. Not gonna have this happen to you. You--you have nothing to worry about. I promise you that.

Chloe: Thank you. Thank you, seriously, but it's not necessary. We're all set.

Brady: Chloe, you need protection, all right?

Chloe: I know we do. That's why we're moving in with stefan dimera.

[Dramatic music]

Stefan: I instructed the staff not to let you in.

Gabi: I'm very charming.

Stefan: I beg to differ. Now get out.

Gabi: This is only gonna take a minute. I need your signature so I can get started on a new gabi chic project that's gonna get this company on track.

Stefan: You seem to have mistaken me for someone who cares.

Gabi: [Laughs] Well, you should care, stefan, because I know how much you hate me, but my brand is very valuable to dimera, so why don't you just cut this tough guy act and be grateful that somebody actually cares about what this company needs?

Stefan: Ah. Nope. I don't think that's what the company needs at all.

Gabi: Okay, are the pain medication--is that affecting your brain? That what it is?

Stefan: What are you talking about?

Gabi: Well, I just heard that you got shot the other night. It's too bad that guy didn't hit you right where he could do some real damage.

[Eerie music]

Chloe: Oh, my god.

Stefan: Sit down, sit down.

Chloe: Oh, you saved me.

Stefan: I th--you okay?

Chloe: Yeah.

Stefan: You're okay.

Chloe: Yeah. Stefan, look out! Oh, my god, stefan!

[Dramatic music]

[Suspenseful music]

Eli: Weston, we know you're in there.

[Suspenseful music]

Ben: What do you want?

Hope: We have more questions for you.

Ben: I've already answered any possible question you could already ask me.

Hope: We're not done, and we won't be until we find ciara.

[Baby crying]

Ciara: Shh...

[Baby cries] Charlotte, it's okay. I'm here. I'm trying to get to you. Shh. Jordan? Jordan, you brought us here to protect us... and we need help. Please. Charlotte's upset. There's something wrong. God, jordan, where are you?

[Cries]

Jordan: Oh, sorry. I'm such a klutz. Oh.

Kate: Wait. You forgot something. Isn't this for babies?

[Suspenseful music]

Ben: I already told you, I don't know where ciara is!

Hope: You have her, and i think you have abigail's daughter, too.

Ben: Do you not get it, hope? I'm on your side. I've been looking for her since the day she got--

Hope: Where is she, ben?

Ben: I don't know.

Hope: Where is ciara?

Ben: Don't know, but if you stop wasting my time, I can go look for her.

Hope: You're not going anywhere.

Ben: I need to find her.

Eli: What you need to do is calm your ass down and answer these questions.

Ben: I am very calm, and I already told you, I don't know where she is.

I haven't seen her since she got back from south africa.

Hope: Then why did your sister tell us you had?

[Frantic string music]

Jordan: Actually, that's for me.

Kate: You have diaper rash?

Jordan: It's not just for babies, okay? It's also for cuts and scrapes. Read the label.

Kate: Well, you're right. Were you injured?

Jordan: I hurt my arm.

Kate: Really? How?

Jordan: [Scoffs] You know, as much as I would love to sit here and discuss my medical history with you, unfortunately, I gotta go.

Kate: You know, you're rushing around with a hell of a lot of supplies. I just have to wonder where you're headed with all that stuff.

Brady: Did you just say that you're moving in with stefan dimera?

Chloe: Yes.

Brady: How in the hell did something like that happen? What are you doing?

Chloe: Well, he offered, and I accepted, and that place is like a fortress. We'll be safe there.

Brady: Oh, chloe. Oh, my...

Chloe: Come on. It's not like I had a lot of options, okay? I can't bail on this club, I can't uproot my kids, especially after everything holly's been through. Under the circumstances, I think I made the best choice I could.

Brady: No, you didn'T. You-- you made a very bad choice. Look, I don't know what stefan's game is here, but he--

Chloe: Stefan saved my life and he offered to protect me and my children. That is it. Thank you for your concern, but I wish you would trust me.

Brady: I do. It's stefan I don't trust.

[Melancholy rock guitar music]

Stefan: Ah. Look, I know you're not my biggest fan, but wishing me dead? That's a little harsh, don't you think?

Gabi: Just being honest. See, when I heard you got shot, my heart did a little happy dance.

[Stefan chuckles] When I heard it was a flesh wound, not so much.

Stefan: You know, those guys who--who came after chloe tried to put a bullet in me. They were from mexico. You sure you didn't hire them?

Gabi: Well, if I'd hired them, then we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Ciara: Shh... oh, what the hell did jordan give me?

[Baby fusses] God, I can barely move.

[Baby cries] Someone help us.

[Heavy knocking] Jordan?

[Eerie music] No. No, it can't be. She wouldn't knock. We're here! We're here. Come in.

[Baby cries] Help us. Help us.

[Suspenseful synth music]

Jordan: What is with the third degree?

Kate: Well, you're rushing around with A... big bag of supplies. I'm just kind of wondering where you're headed.

Jordan: Well, it's none of your business, obviously, but i came back to salem because I'm worried about ben.

Kate: Yeah. Chad told me you were worried about your brother's mental state, which you should be. I'm just-- well, I can't help wondering if you're bringing those things to him.

Jordan: No. They're for me.

Kate: Hm. I don't believe you.

Ben: You talked to jordan?

Eli: I did.

Ben: My sister went to the cops about me?

Eli: We spoke on the phone.

Ben: When? Why?

Eli: After abigail reported her baby missing, detective price and I--we took her statement. She told us that jordan was in town, and that she had stopped by because she was concerned about your well-being.

Ben: Well, that's bull.

Eli: Well, I spoke to jordan. I left her several messages, and she finally called me back after she saw you.

Ben: Okay, and she said that I saw ciara? Because that's not what I told her. All I said was that last night, I felt... connected to her, like she was reaching out to me, like she wanted me to find her.

Eli: So ciara was never in this room? You didn't actually see her?

Ben: No. I would never say I did, because I didn'T.

Hope: Is it possible you were hallucinating?

[Dramatic music]

Brady: Look, I understand you--you may feel grateful to stefan, but trust me, he has an ulterior motive, chloe.

Chloe: What motive? I barely know the guy.

Brady: Oh, come--come-- come on. Come on. You're a beautiful woman. This man obsesses very, very easily, just like his father. You heard about what happened with abigail, right?

Chloe: So you think stefan dimera has nothing better to do than sit around, thinking about me all day long?

Brady: I think that he's lonely.

Chloe: So are a lot of people.

Brady: No, I know--not like this guy. Stefan has no friends. He has no family--at least, no family members that care about him. He was in love with a woman that doesn't even exist, chloe, and after that, he thought he was going to be a father. Turns out, no, he wasn't going to be a father, because his brother was the father of the baby, okay? And by the way, his brother hates him as well.

Chloe: Okay, what does any of that have to do with me?

[Melancholy music]

Brady: You are the void that he wants to fill his life with. It's gonna make him feel important and good and strong. It's wrong, the whole thing.

Chloe: Okay, you are looking into this way more than you need to be. He just happened to be here when mateo's henchmen showed up. He saved my life, and he saw how scared I was, and he made a nice gesture. That's it. It doesn't go any deeper than that.

Brady: You know that he and i are now business rivals, now that I'm a ceo of titan, right?

Chloe: How is any of that relevant?

Brady: Because he knows that we were married once. He also knows that we-- we've gotten closer. This is his warning shot to me, chloe. This is him showing me that he can butt into my personal life and mess with my friends. That's what he's doing.

Chloe: Okay, so it's about you. He's not actually fixated on me. He's using me to get to you. That's some theory.

Brady: Chloe, here's what's going to happen, okay? I'm gonna go talk to victor, and I'm gonna make him change his mind about you moving in with us, okay?

Chloe: No, I don't want you to do that.

Brady: I know you're not too excited about shacking up with vic. I get that.

Chloe: N-no, this doesn't have to do with victor.

Brady: The man has treated you horribly, and--and you know, I understand that you don't want to live with him.

Chloe: No, brady, I don't want to live with you.

Stefan: You think you're a real badass, don't you, gabi? Yet here you are, begging me to sign some stupid piece of paper.

Gabi: Keep it up. Keep dismissing gabi chic. You'll see what happens.

Stefan: Mm-hmm. Uh, I think dimera will survive without your little rinky-dink operation. I'm sure chad would agree. You do know that I have to run everything by my co-ceo? You know that, right?

Gabi: Yeah, I know. I'm aware of that, stefan. I just didn't want to bother chad while his child is missing, but I will if I have to.

Stefan: [Laughs] You really think that my brother is gonna approve of anything you propose, after what you did to him?

Gabi: Yes. Actually, I think he's gonna be relieved that someone, anyone, is looking out for this company going forward.

Stefan: Mm.

Gabi: And I think the board's gonna feel the exact same way.

Stefan: Yeah, yeah. I'm sure that the board will be eager to support the sadistic bitch who gaslit a pregnant woman and threw an old lady down a flight of stairs.

Gabi: This is not about me. It's about optics. See, once I get my okay from chad, which I will, then shin and the others-- they're gonna put pressure on you, because they don't want leadership divided.

Stefan: That's a nice fantasy, gabi. Now run along.

Gabi: [Scoffs] Fine. Fine. Make me waste my time. Make me add stress to chad's life when he's already losing his mind, looking for his daughter, which has been kidnapped. I don't know if you care about that.

Stefan: She's my niece. Of course I care. I'm sick about it. You're the one who's probably loving this.

Gabi: What? I'm sorry. What the hell are you talking about? I am a mother. I would never want anyone to hurt a baby.

Stefan: [Laughs] If that were true, gabi, then you wouldn't have lied about who charlotte's real father was.

Gabi: That's in the past.

Stefan: It's in the past only because you got busted. Face it. If julie hadn't found those paternity results, you'd have let charlotte believe that I was her father for the rest of her life, just so you could stick it to abigail.

Gabi: [Sighs] Stefan, you're so wrong. See, I was never gonna sit on that secret forever-- just long enough to ruin your life, the way that you ruined mine.

Ben: Why are you twisting this into something horrible? Call jordan again. She'll tell you all I said was that ciara and I have such a strong bond that I just felt like... I know what she's thinking, I know what she's feeling, no matter where she is.

Eli: You said ciara and you have a strong bond. Go on.

Ben: Just... felt like she was trying to tell me that she wants me to find her. That's what she was trying to tell me.

Hope: No. Mm-mm. She doesn't want you anywhere near her, ben. She went halfway around the world to get away from you.

Ben: And then she came back.

Hope: Yeah, because you lured her back.

Eli: L-let's do this down at the station.

Ben: No, no, no. I'm not going anywhere with you guys.

Hope: You said you missed taking some of your meds. Maybe you were relapsing.

Ben: Hope, I'm not relapsing. My doctor said I'm cured. I don't hurt people anymore.

Hope: Really? How can you be so sure? Last time you were off your meds, you blacked out. You couldn't even remember if you started that fire in the cabin.

Ben: Doctor evans helped me. She hypnotized me. You know that. She--

[Desolate synth music] She said that--that...

Hope: Ben, but it is possible that you lost time and you blacked out. You could've kidnapped ciara, and you could've blocked it out, or you're lying, but either way, you have my daughter. You took ciara.

Ben: I didn't take ciara, hope. I swear to god. Look, i want to find her just as bad as you do.

Eli: Great. Then you won't mind if we take a look around, huh?

Ben: Take a look around. The commissioner and my skeevy ex-attorney already tossed the entire place. They didn't find anything. Neither will you, because ciara was never here.

Ciara: Whoever you are, don't worry about me. Just check on the baby. Check on charlotte. She--she was crying, and she got quiet all of a sudden. I just need to make sure she's okay.

Ben: The baby's fine.

[Ethereal music]

Ciara: Ben... you came to save us.

Jordan: What the hell are you talking about? Are you accusing me of lying?

Kate: What I'm saying is what you told me doesn't totally make sense.

Jordan: No, what you're doing is jumping all over me when I haven't done anything wrong.

Kate: That's awfully defensive, jordan.

Jordan: Well, that's a normal reaction when someone attacks you, kate.

Kate: Well, all I've done is ask you a few simple questions, 'cause I'm wondering if you're all right.

Jordan: Oh, please. You don't give a damn about me. You've been suspicious of me ever since you brought me to town to take care of rafe.

Kate: Now, that's really ancient history, isn't it? And in case you didn't know, it's all over between rafe and me, and between rafe and you, and between clyde and me.

Jordan: [Laughs] You know, i still cannot believe that you fell for my demented stepfather, but I guess that is what you deserve when you get a pi to dig around in my past.

Kate: Well, the only thing I'm interested in investigating now is the whereabouts of chad's daughter, because charlotte is missing, and most of the people in this town think that ben is behind it. So if you know anything about that, if you can help in any way, you better do it.

Jordan: I warned abigail, didn't I?

Kate: Oh, that's it?

Jordan: W-why are you coming after me like this?

Kate: I think it's a little curious that you came back to town out of nowhere to stir up the fear about ben descending into another one of his bad mental states, and th--yet, you go out and you what, buy groceries? How exactly are you helping?

Jordan: What more do you want me to do, okay? I have done everything I can.

Kate: Well, I'd like you to show me that scrape on your arm.

Jordan: What?

Kate: You heard me.

Jordan: Okay--

Kate: Ah. Because that cream isn't for you, is it?

Jordan: Get out of my way!

Kate: No.

Jordan: I mean it! Move!

Kate: No. No, because you're involved in this. You are ben's accomplice in kidnapping that baby. (Mom) is that for me?

Chloe: Okay, that came out a lot harsher than I meant for it to.

Brady: Chloe, if that's-- that's how you feel, so--

Chloe: No, it's--I don't mean to sound ungrateful. It's just... I thought this whole nightmare with el fideo was over, and to find out that his men might come after me and my kids-- I had to make a really hard decision really fast, and you're challenging me on it, so I'm being defensive. I'm sorry.

Brady: Don't--don't-- there's no need to apologize to me. You don't have to do that.

Chloe: No, but I need you to understand why I don't want to move in with you.

Brady: Look, I get it. Stefan convinced you that you'd be safer there than you would be with me, and--

Chloe: No, it's more than that, and I want to be honest with you.

[Sighs]

Brady: Talk to me.

Chloe: Look, I'm-- I'm so glad that we've become friends again. In fact, you're my best friend in the whole world right now.

Brady: I feel the same way about you.

Chloe: But recently, we had a moment, and it got me thinking. I've been down this road before with lucas. We started off as friends, and we thought we could rekindle something from the past...

Brady: You did.

Chloe: And... I honestly thought I had a future with him, and when that ended, I was devastated. But I guess that breakup taught me some things: That I need to get my priorities straight. I need to think about my kids. I need to focus on my business. I've got to get myself together before I even think about getting involved with someone else, and if you're being honest with yourself, you know that that's true for you.

Brady: No, chloe, I'm-- I'm good. I am clean, I am sober, I am strong. I--I'm fine.

Chloe: I'm glad. That's so fantastic, but come on. It hasn't been that long since you lost eve and tate, and now you're back, living in victor's house, and you're running titan. I mean, your plate is full. The last thing you need to think about is getting into a relationship.

Brady: Hold on. Hey. I'm not--I'm not saying that, you know...

Chloe: I'm not either. I'm just... I guess I'm thinking further down the road than you are, and I'm trying to prevent us both from being hurt again. And if we live together, we might be tempted to fall back into something, you know?

Brady: If we did, we would go slow.

Chloe: [Scoffs] And we would tell each other that it wouldn't affect the friendship, but you know that it would, and that is a really risky line to cross. Okay? And if things went south, and--and I lost this friendship... I don't want to. I want to be friends for life. I can't lose you.

Brady: I want that, too.

Chloe: Okay, so we're on the same page?

Brady: We're friends. We are close friends. We are friends that tell each other the truth. You've got to understand, though, I--I need to protect you and your kids.

Chloe: And I know, I told you stefan will do that.

Brady: No, no, chloe. No. Darn it, you're not understanding me. It's from stefan that I need to protect you. I don't want you moving in-- into that place. That would be a huge mistake.

[Desolate music]

Stefan: If your goal was to ruin my life, you did it. I came to love that little girl very much, and when I found out that she wasn't mine, my whole world fell apart.

Gabi: Okay, what? So I'm supposed to feel sorry for you?

Stefan: Oh, no. No, no, I wouldn't expect, uh, empathy from a heartless bitch like yourself, and despite your performance as a, uh-- you know, as a devoted mother caring about all children everywhere, come on, you don't give a damn about charlotte.

Gabi: That's not true.

Stefan: Hell it isn'T. She was just a weapon in your sick revenge game, and guess what. Now she's missing. An innocent baby. Congratulations. Now, charlotte may not--she may not be my daughter, but I will never stop caring about her, but you--you--you seem to... to--to get off on making abigail suffer, and her pain appears to be the only joy in your life at this moment.

Gabi: Just like chad appears to be the only joy in your life.

Stefan: Whatever is going on between my brother and me, the bottom line is I want my niece home safely with her parents.

Gabi: Yeah, I know. That's not the bottom line. That's the party line. That's what you want people to think.

Stefan: You--you think I have a-a-a strategy for child abduction? That's absurd.

Gabi: Absolutely. I know you do, and here it is. See, while chad is being very distracted over his missing child, that is when you are gonna find the perfect moment to express your concern about your brother's abilities to do his job. See, how could he fulfill his ceo duties when he is such a wreck? You're gonna make it clear to shin and the others that there is no choice, that you, and only you, are the right person for this job, so congrats. Congrats, stefan. I hope that keeps you warm at night.

[Percussive music]

Jordan: Of course I am not working with ben. Why would i help him steal a baby from her parents?

Kate: Because he's your brother.

Jordan: And abigail is my friend, so why would I warn her if I was ben's accomplice?

Kate: Well, I think to throw people off. I think that you found out that ben took charlotte, and when you found that out, you came running to help him cover his tracks.

Jordan: Oh, my god. This is ridiculous.

Kate: No, no. Is it? Because from the moment we bumped into each other, you've been a nervous wreck. You bought a tube of diaper cream.

Jennifer: I explained that.

Kate: I don't care about it. I don't care about the scrape on your arm, because the truth is I know that you know where charlotte is, and I know that you're in cahoots with your brother, and if you don't tell me the truth, I'm calling the police.

Eli: Hey, boss. Take a look at this. Found it in the drawer.

Hope: Oh, my god. Ted and I tore this room apart yesterday. This blanket wasn't here. Where did it come from?

Ben: I have no clue! I've never seen that before in my life. It probably just belonged to the people who stayed in the room before me.

Eli: No, I don't think so. I saw my grandma knitting that blanket. That was a gift for charlotte.

Ben: That's impossible. What--

Hope: You're under arrest for kidnapping.

[Suspenseful music]

Eli: You have the right to remain silent.

Ben: I didn't do this, hope. I've never seen that blanket--

Eli: ...Can and will be used against you...

Ben: You're making a mistake. You're making a mistake.

[Synth music]

Eli: What is this?

Ben: What's it look like? It's my phone.

Eli: And whose phone is this on the table?

Hope: There's no way he can afford two cell--

this is ciara's phone. Where is she? Where? Where's my daughter? Where is she? Where is she?

Ciara: Are you sure charlotte's okay?

Ben: She's fine.

Ciara: Thank god. She was crying, and then she got silent all of a sudden, and i was so worried that she may have been drugged, too.

Ben: No, she's in her crib. She's sleeping peacefully. W-what do you mean? Were you drugged?

Ciara: Yes, by your sister, jordan. Jordan did all of this. She kidnapped us and brought us here. She said that she needed to protect us.

Ben: From what?

Ciara: From you. But she's wrong. Jordan is the one who's dangerous.

[Uneasy music]

Jordan: Do not do this, kate. Do not call the police.

Kate: Hello? Yes, I need to report a kidnapping. Ow!

What did you do?

Jordan: Well, I told you not to make that call.

[Door slams]

Brady: Hello. You are-- you are not gonna believe this.

Maggie: What is it? What's wrong?

Brady: Chloe and her kids are moving in with stefan dimera.

Maggie: I know.

Brady: You're okay with that?

[Tense music]

Stefan: Welcome. Your bags are upstairs. Feel free to relax, get something to eat, and, uh, as soon as your kids get here, we'll... make sure they get settled in as well.

Chloe: Thank you. Okay.

Stefan: You okay? You look a little nervous.

Chloe: Uh, no, no. I'm--I'm not nervous. I'm--I'm just...

Stefan: Just, uh--just hating this whole idea?

Chloe: [Laughs] No, definitely not. I'm beyond grateful to you for opening your home to us. I just I guess I kind of feel like we're imposing a bit.

Stefan: No, no.

Chloe: It's not like we're old friends or anything.

Stefan: No, no, you're-- you're right, we're not. We're--we're new friends, and like I told you before, this'll be good for me, too. You know, have some kids around, not to mention another adult, someone to, I don't know, share a meal with, watch a movie. There's actually, uh, a rather large screening room in--in here. Kind of feels like a-- a movie theater, to me, anyway.

Chloe: Oh, wow. That's cool. I guess it's easier than driving to the cineplex.

Stefan: Yes, yes, it is. And--and chloe, uh, you're not--you're not imposing in--in the least bit, and I wasn't being so noble when I--when I asked you to stay here. I'm--I'm kind of counting on you and the kids to bring some cheer into this old house, so... get over the--the little awkwardness...

Chloe: [Laughs]

Stefan: Here, and--and find a way to enjoy your time.

Chloe: Okay, I will do that. Yeah.

Stefan: Great, and, uh, here. You're--here.

Chloe: W-wow. What is that?

Stefan: It's just a little something I picked up. This is a remote-control robot for parker, and this is a toy piano for holly. There you go.

Chloe: Oh, ow. That's heavy. Uh, wow, that is-- that's so thoughtful of you.

Stefan: Oh, no, yeah, you're welcome. I hope it's--I hope they're okay, age-wise. I really didn't--I didn't--

Chloe: Yeah, yeah, no, this is amazing. Parker will love a robot, and I love the idea of a toy piano. I want the kids to start music lessons soon, so--

Stefan: Oh, yeah. Oh, and while we're on the--the, uh-- the subject of music, I would love to hear you sing sometime. I hear you're pretty good. I don't know.

Chloe: Yeah, I'm all right. Uh, yeah, I would-- I would love to. You don't have to twist my arm.

Stefan: Okay, I'm looking forward to that.

Chloe: Me, too. And thank you, again, for the gifts, and thinking of the kids.

Stefan: Oh, it's no problem.

Chloe: It's so nice of you.

Stefan: I mean, I know you-- I know you brought them here to keep them safe, but they're kids. They should have fun, right?

Chloe: Yeah, they should.

Stefan: Yeah. You know, uh, we adults--we're entitled to a little fun now and again, don't you think?

Chloe: I agree.

Stefan: Good. So while you're here, um, let's, uh, try and make it a good time for all of us, yeah?

Chloe: Definitely.

Hope: Where's ciara?

Ben: I don't know.

Hope: Then why do you have her phone? Answer me, ben! Where is she?

Ben: Okay, hope, hope, I've been trying to call her. She hasn't answered any of my calls. I tried calling her one more time right before you guys got here, and I ho--I heard the phone ringing inside the room. I don't know how it got here. I couldn't believe it. Maggie: Brady, we have talked about your protectiveness of chloe before.

Maggie: With seeing how worked up you are about this, I can't help but wonder if it's the kids that you're so upset about, or... that chloe will be living with another man.

Chloe: Well, the kids are playing, the nanny is unpacking. So far, so good.

Eli: The evidence is damning, but...

Hope: But nothing. We found ciara's phone and charlotte's blanket in his room. That's enough to send him to prison... or back to bayview for a very long time.

Eli: I hope you're right.

[Uneasy music]

Gabi: She's drunk?

Jordan: Uh, yeah, so drunk, she can hardly stand. I was gonna take her home so she can sleep it off.
