[Dark music]

[Door opens, closes]

Ciara: [Gasps]

[Panting] Oh, my god... jordan.

Jordan: Hello, ciara. I guess I'm the last person you expected to see.

Julie: Hi, sweetie.

Abigail: Hi.

Julie: Would you like to watch a movie?

Abigail: What happened to you and doug having your romantic evening out?

Julie: Well, we decided to netflix and, uh, chill. Isn't that what your generation calls it?

Abigail: Uh, I-- yes, but I think it means something different than what you think it means.

Julie: No, darling, I know exactly what it means. Unfortunately, I chose a chick flick that put doug to sleep before the chilling could commence. So... so I thought maybe we could just have a little girl talk.

Abigail: Hmm. And what were you thinking we would talk about?

Julie: About you forgiving chad.

Abigail: Right.

[Sighs]

Kate: Hope you're winning.

Chad: What are you doing here?

Kate: Well, I thought I'd come by and make sure that you and stefan hadn't killed each other.

Chad: Stefan's not here. Actually, I hope he's been in an unfortunate accident.

Kate: That would make it a hell of a lot easier, wouldn't 6it?

Chad: I'm not gonna kill him. I wouldn't mind if someone else did, though.

Chloe: Oh, my god.

Stefan: Sit down, sit down.

Chloe: Oh, you saved me.

Stefan: Are you okay?

Chloe: Yeah, I think so. Yeah. Stefan look out! Oh, my god, stefan!

Your father can't help you now, can he, dimera? First I finish you off, then i might enjoy myself with the songbird before I kill her too.

Chloe: [Crying] No! No!

[Soft orchestration]

Lani: Say it again.

Eli: Say what?

Lani: You know.

Eli: That you're beautiful?

Lani: [Laughs] Not that, but...yeah. That.

Eli: I love you.

Lani: [Light laugh] You know, uh...I wasn't planning on saying it tonight. It just sorta slipped out.

Eli: Well, now that you've had time to think about it, how do you feel?

Lani: I thought about it a lot, and... I was just afraid to say it.

Eli: Me too. But now it'S...it's easy to say. I love you.

[Lani giggles] I love you. I love you. I--

[Dramatic music]

[Both grunting]

Ben: You said ciara flew back to salem tonight, right? Are you sure she got on the plane?

Ted: Her name was on the manifest. She definitely made it here.

Hope: And no one has heard from her since.

Ben: And you're sure she didn't go back to the loft.

Hope: First place we checked. Claire hasn't heard from her.

Ben: Did you try tracking her phone? She has the app--

Hope: She turned off location services months ago.

Ben: Wait. She would have needed a ride home from the airport, right? That's where you should be focusing--did somebody pick her up?

Jordan: I'm here to help you, ciara.

Ciara: Thank god. Thank god you're here. Untie me.

Jordan: Do you remember how you got here?

Ciara: No, I--I--the last thing I remember is heading through the airport parking lot when someone jumped me from behind.

Jordan: Oh, my god, you poor thing. And you would up here.

Ciara: Yes, blindfolded and tied to the bed and... and in this cabin. The same cabin where--

Jordan: Where my brother left you to die in that fire.

Ciara: Oh, no, ben didn't set that fire.

Jordan: Well, you don't actually believe that, do you?

Ciara: I have my doubts, but...I-I know ben. He wouldn't do this to me. He'd never hurt me.

Jordan: Yes, he absolutely would. This is the same place he terrorized abigail. Then he tried to burn her and chad to death and take their child.

Ciara: Yeah, but he was sick back then, and he's not that person anymore.

Jordan: You don't just stop being the person that you are, ciara. My brother is crazy, and he always will be. If you don't believe me, just look at where you ended up.

Ciara: Wait. Are you saying that ben did this to me?

Jordan: Who else would it be?

Chad: Now that you've confirmed we're both still breathing, you can leave.

Kate: Actually, I came here for another reason as well.

Chad: Make it quick. I'm in the middle of a game.

Kate: I talked to mr. Shin. I tried to persuade him to reconsider his co-ceo decision, but, uh, he wouldn't budge.

Chad: Is that your way of trying to win me over? It's not gonna work.

Kate: I don't have to win you over. I know that I let gabi hurt you.

Chad: You didn't just let her. You helped her destroy my family. I can't see my wife. My children are not allowed to come over here. So... you can leave, or I can have security drag you out.

Abigail: How do you know that I haven't already forgiven chad?

Julie: One, you're still living here, and he isn'T. And two, chad called me to thank me for encouraging you to attend the family dinner he arranged.

Abigail: Oh?

Julie: I think that was very admirable of him to do that for you and your mom and jack and jj.

Abigail: Yeah. It was--it was very nice.

Julie: I understand it went really well.

Abigail: It did. It did, it was a wonderful dinner. It just--it doesn't fix everything.

Julie: Of course not. I'm sure things are very, very complicated now with chad and stefan running dimera--together.

Abigail: Yeah, you heard about that?

Julie: Well, it sounds like a recipe for disaster. What does chad think of that?

Abigail: He said that he would resign and move out of the house so that I didn't have to be near stefan.

Julie: Really? He would really sacrifice all that for you and the children?

Abigail: I mean, yeah, so he says.

Julie: Well, then why in the world don't you just kiss and make up?

Lani: Did I mention that I love you too?

Eli: I could stand to hear it again.

[Both laugh]

Lani: I love you too. You know what I hate, though?

Eli: Winters in salem.

Lani: [Laughs] Yes. The fact that our first time together was just out of the revenge of jj and gabi cheating on us.

Eli: Especially since we were wrong.

Lani: Yeah. And then the pregnancy was... so complicated. And after we lost our baby, I thought that I would never be able to look at you again without all that pain rushing back.

Eli: Which is why you kept pushing me away.

Lani: I'm sorry. You didn't deserve that.

Eli: It's fine. What matters now is we're together, and neither of us are going anywhere. You know, when I...when I did that little miami picnic at doug's place...

[Both chuckle] I just wanted to make you smile.

Lani: It worked.

Eli: Yeah, it worked a hell of a lot better than I imagined.

[Both chuckle] What? What?

Lani: I just...

[Laughing] I keep wondering what stefan thought when he was headed to the club for a drink and walked into south beach.

[Both laughing]

[Both grunting]

[Gunshot]

Your children will never be safe.

Chloe: Oh, my god, is he--

Stefan: Ah--ahh!

Chloe: Oh, my god, your arm-- it's really bleeding.

Stefan: I'm fine, it's okay.

Ben: If ciara called for a car, maybe she used one of those apps--

Hope: Enough! I am done listening to your lies. Where is she? Where is my daughter?

Ted: Hey, hope.

Hope: What have you done to her?

Ben: I haven't done anything to your daughter, hope, I swear! Okay? Your daughter is the best thing that's even happened to me. I would never hurt her.

Ciara: No, ben wouldn't do that to me.

Jordan: I wanted to believe that too. I used to pray that the doctors would be able to help him. But deep down, I always knew that there was nothing that they could do, that it was too much to ask for. And it looks like I got here just in time.

Ciara: How did you find me?

Jordan: I know how ben thinks. And I heard from theo carver that you were headed back to salem, so I figured you would be walking right back into the lion's den.

Ciara: So you saw ben bring me here?

Jordan: He was already gone by the time I arrived, but--

Ciara: Okay, so how do we know that it was him?

Jordan: You don't get it, do you, ciara? My brother is sick and dangerous. He leaves behind a body count. You would have been his next victim if I hadn't figured out what he was up to. You still don't believe me, do you?

Ciara: Look, could you just untie me?

Jordan: No. I can't do that.

Chad: Did you not hear me?

Kate: [Inhales, exhales] I want to know what your plans are for dimera enterprises.

Chad: My plans. My plans. Well, for starters, i offered to step away from the business and move out of the house.

Kate: Why on earth would you do that?

Chad: For abigail.

Kate: She asked you to quit.

Chad: She didn't have to. She can't be near stefan, which means she won't come to the house. If I'm still at war with... my brother, [Sighs] Then that means he's gonna be in our lives, so I figured I'd extricate myself from stefan and dimera. Then I may have a chance.

Kate: So does that mean that she's going to take you back?

Chad: Not yet.

Kate: [Laughs] So you're willing to give up everything you've worked so hard for, and she's just going to let you sweat.

Chad: Well, there's a lot to forgive me for.

Kate: Yes. Because she's made so few mistakes, right?

Chad: I wouldn't expect you to understand what it's like to put family first. I had her committed. I watched as our child got forcefully ripped from her arms.

Kate: You were trying to help her.

Chad: She wasn't even sick. So I have a lot to make up for. If that means giving up my legacy to prove myself to her, then that's what I'm gonna do.

Abigail: I know that it seems like it would be easy to take chad back--

Julie: I never said it would be easy. But it would be worth it. We both know how much that business means to him, and if he's willing to sacrifice that for your sake--

Abigail: But that's just it. If he gives up dimera and I take him back, he's always going to be thinking about it. It's going to be on his mind, and I don't want him to resent me and the kids for everything that he's leaving behind.

Julie: But he made the offer! You never asked.

Abigail: Yes, but it's because of me--he'd be doing it because of me. It's like when I was-- when I thought that I was carrying stefan's baby, he said that he could accept it. And then when he became a reality, it was too much for him, and he couldn't stay. What if I get back together with chad and then the same thing happens? I can't do that to myself. I can't do that to my children. I can't go through that again.

Julie: Is that really what's bothering you, that he would resent you? It seems more likely that you would wind up resenting him.

Abigail: He believed gabi over me. He took my newborn baby out of my arms. I don't know how I'm ever gonna get over that.

[Phone rings]

Lani: Don'T. Don't--don't answer it. You're off-duty.

Eli: My shift starts soon.

Lani: Soon isn't now.

[Ringing]

Eli: I'm sorry. I have to.

Lani: [Groans] I know. I would do the same.

[Phone beeps]

Eli: Grant here. What? Yeah, yeah, yeah, we're on our way.

[Phone beeps]

Lani: What is it?

Eli: There's been a shooting at my grandma's club.

Chloe: Police and the emts are on their way. Sit--sit here.

Stefan: [Groans] Uhh! Go--

Chloe: Does that hurt?

Stefan: Yes. Yes, it hurts. It's fine. I'll live.

Chloe: You saved my life.

Stefan: He would have killed us both.

Chloe: I still can't believe that those guys came for me after all this time.

Stefan: You're safe now.

Chloe: That was really amazing, what you did for me.

Stefan: I haven't known I was stefano's son for very long, but I've found that it's useful to throw his name around every now and again. I'm just glad you're okay.

Chloe: Well, for now, but you heard what he said. My family will never be safe.

Ben: Hope, if you're so sure that I took ciara, then arrest me. Lock me up again. You can'T. Because once again, you don't have any evidence.

Ted: Hope, it's not gonna work. Whether he did it or not, he's not gonna tell us anything.

Hope: I know you have her. Just like I know you set that fire. I will find her. And if you have harmed so much as a hair on her head...

[Tense music]

[Door closes]

Ciara: What--what do you mean you can't untie me, jordan?

Jordan: Shh! Okay, just relax, relax. You are gonna be safe here, okay?

Ciara: Safe from what?

Jordan: [Huffs] You know, when I heard you and my brother were together, I was really worried about you. Okay, I know how charming ben can be... how he can convince you he's on your side, how he'll do nothing to ever hurt you. It's all an act. Psychopaths have a way of saying anything they can to get you on their side, okay? But someone like him, eventually, his true side will come out. And I think that deep down you knew ben was sick again. And that's why you left town.

Ciara: Uh...how did you even know that I left town because of ben?

Jordan: He told me.

Ciara: You know what? I don't--I don't wanna argue about ben anymore. Would you just please untie me so I can go home?

Jordan: [Sighs]

[Uneasy music]

Kate: Gabi manipulated all of us.

Chad: Don'T. You don't get to play victim.

Kate: I'm not playing victim. I'm trying to make up for what i did.

Chad: Well, you can'T. Especially by pushing me to become ceo.

Kate: Oh, I see. Is that why you're so ready to quit, because I'm the one who fought to make you ceo?

Chad: You know what, not everything's about you. I'm doing this for abigail. And I'm doing this for my children.

Kate: Okay, so what if she doesn't take you back? That means you don't have to quit.

Chad: I can't let her think that it was just an empty gesture.

Kate: What, would you rather have stefan run the company into the ground? Because at the end of this, if abigail doesn't forgive you, you're left with nothing.

Chad: I've already lost everything that matters to me, kate. I lost my family, I lost my children.

Julie: The villain here is not chad. It's gabi.

Abigail: I know how you feel about gabi, and I am still disgusted by what she did to me also.

Julie: And yet, you forgave her.

Abigail: I didn't forgive her. I-I called a truce. It's not the same thing. And chad is no innocent victim here.

Julie: Chad has made mistakes.

Abigail: Mistakes.

[Sighs] I-I worked-- I worked so hard to reclaim my life. You know, I worked really hard in therapy to overcome my D.I.D. And I did it for myself, but i also did it for my family. I did it for my children, and i did it for chad. And when I needed him to believe in me, to believe that I wasn't sick again... he couldn't do it.

Julie: And that's hard to forget. But... maybe you should remember some of the good times too.

Abigail: There were good times. Maybe there would have been more if stefan didn't come to town. I wonder how many lives that man has ruined.

Chloe: Oh, they're here.

Stefan: If it isn't crockett and tubbs.

Eli: I have no idea who that is.

Lani: It's a "miami vice" thing. They were two-- never mind.

Eli: What the hell happened?

Stefan: If you two hadn't rushed outta here to finish whatever the hell that was you started, you could have taken him alive.

Chloe: He and his partner came here to kill me.

Lani: Why?

Chloe: They work for el fideo, and they were here for revenge. Thank god stefan was here to stop him.

Eli: You shot him?

Chloe: Stefan jumped him before he pulled the trigger. Thank god!

Lani: The ambulance are on their way. Stefan, we'll get your statement at the hospital.

Stefan: I don't need an ambulance.

Eli: If you were to bleed out and die right here on the floor, there'd be a lot more paperwork for us, so...

Stefan: Your concern is touching, detective.

Eli: Thank you. Look, come with me. We'll meet the ambulance in the parking lot.

Chloe: I wanna come with you.

Stefan: No, you stay with detective price--it's safer. You okay?

Chloe: Yeah. I'll manage.

Stefan: Okay.

Chloe: Stef--

Hope: [Huffs] There was a shooting at doug's place. My dad and julie weren't there. Thank god. Detectives price and grant are on the scene.

Ted: Do you need to go?

Hope: No, no, no. They have everything under control. I need to stay focused on finding ciara.

Ted: All right, so the last thing we know for sure--that she got off the plane at the salem airport.

Hope: Mm-hmm.

Ted: Then what?

Hope: So did someone approach her inside the terminal or in the parking garage?

Ted: It could be, uh, I don't know, a stranger, someone she knew?

Hope: What is taking so long? I need the security footage from the airport, then we'll know exactly how she left and with whom. I'm gonna check on it again. I'll be right back.

Ben: Hey, man, am I not supposed to know that you're a cop? Maybe I'm just supposed to pretend you're not there? I know hope told you to trail me, but...I don't have her daughter.

I'm just doing my job.

Ben: Let me make it easier for you. I'm gonna go back to my room for the rest of the night. Instead of you stalking me, go...look for ciara.

[Edgy music]

Jordan: You have to trust me, okay? I am trying to protect you.

Ciara: I don't see how you keeping me tied up here is protecting me. Come on, just cut me loose, jordan!

Jordan: Stop it, all right? Do as I tell you!

[Sighs]

Ciara: Do as you tell me?

Jordan: Don't you get it? If I untie you, you're just gonna go running back to salem and put yourself in more danger.

Ciara: What kind of danger?

Jordan: From my brother, of course. But I'm going to handle him, okay? I am the only one that knows how to.

Ciara: How are you gonna handle him?

Jordan: By thinking the way that he thinks...okay? I grew up in that house with clyde. I was there, all right? I know what it's like to live under the thumb of a maniac, to always feel afraid and to never feel safe. I mean, it's no wonder that ben's the mess that he is. Anyone growing up in that household would be. Which is why it is up to me to keep everyone safe. I'm going to make sure that ben never murders anyone ever again. Why--why are you looking at me like that?

Ciara: Ben didn't kidnap me. You did.

Chloe: Worry? It's not like I was almost just murdered tonight.

Ted: It must be all this red tape and tsa. Don't worry--it will come in soon.

Hope: I already know what we're gonna see in that footage. And when I have the evidence, i can bring him in here, and I can force him to tell me what he did with ciara.

Ted: Hope.

Hope: What?

Ted: What if he's telling the truth?

Hope: Y-you believe him? You don't think that he's the one who took ciara?

Ted: I certainly don't trust the guy, okay? That you know. But when he said that he cares about ciara, call me crazy, but I believe him. I mean, there's been those ride share incidents. It's probably that--

Hope: I know, every time i just feel and think that everything...is getting better for her-- just want my little girl to be okay.

Ted: Hey. Hey. I know. I know.

Ben: Where are you?

Ciara: You attacked me outside the airport, didn't you? You dragged me up to this cabin.

Jordan: Please don't worry, okay? You're gonna be safe here.

Ciara: If you really wanna protect me, jordan, you should just let me go, okay? I promise I will stay away from ben.

Jordan: You say that, but i can't take the risk because i know you still have feelings for ben.

Ciara: You said it yourself: I left ben. Why would I go back to him?

Jordan: Well, you might tell on me to your mother, the police commissioner. I mean, we all know hope has had no luck in putting ben away, which is why it's my turn.

Ciara: That's, uh... that's a lot of pressure to put on yourself.

Jordan: I can handle it. People need me. You know, you're not the only one in danger. Have you even thought about abigail?

Ciara: What about abigail?

Jordan: You know what he did to her the last time. What makes you think he doesn't want revenge? On you, abigail, chad--all of salem?

[Laughs] Oh, I--I'm wasting time explaining it. I've gotta get back to town.

Ciara: No, jordan, please. I know you're a good person and I know you wanna help. If you can just please let me go--jordan!

Jordan: I'm sorry, ciara.

Ciara: Jordan, no! No! God!

Kate: I know that the thought of working with stefan is a nightmare. But this is your company... your house. It's your legacy. Not stefan'S. He's just vivian alamain's bastard son. I know that you can win in the end... but not if you give up.

Abigail: I know you're only trying to help, and I know that you believe chad and I belong together. But I really--I have to figure this out on my own.

Julie: I love you dearly, abigail. And doug and I will be there for you no matter what you decide.

[Phone rings]

[Beep] Eli! How nice to hear from you.

Eli: I'm afraid this isn't a social call. There's been a shooting at your club.

Julie: What?

Eli: I didn't want you to hear from anybody else.

Julie: Well, is everybody okay?

Eli: A man was killed.

Julie: Oh, god. I'm on my way.

[Phone beeps]

Abigail: What happened?

Julie: There was a shooting at doug's place, and a man was killed.

Abigail: What? Wait, no, uh, uh, okay--we will call you a car and you can get there--

Julie: No, no, no, no. If doug wakes up, be sure to tell him I-- well, just tell him I'll get back as soon as I can. It's a dangerous world out there, darling. If you have someone that you love that can make it better, you cling to him with everything you've got.

Chad: Next time, call before you just show up.

Kate: Well, if I had called, you would have told me not to come.

[Phone beeps] Hmm. There's been a shooting at doug's place.

Chad: They say who was involved?

Kate: Stefan was shot.

Chad: And?

Kate: [Light laugh] Looks like he's gonna make it.

Chad: Darn.

Kate: Yeah. That's too bad, right? If there's one thing I know about you, chad, is that you're a fighter just like me. If you want something, you do not give up. And I know you still want this. You need to fight for your family. You need to fight for your legacy.

[Uneasy music]

Julie: I can't believe a man died here tonight.

Eli: It could have been a lot worse.

Julie: [Deep breath] I've got to tell doug and... then I guess I call the insurance company. Ohh...

Lani: Chloe was lucky she didn't get hurt. Drug cartels, shoot-outs... I bet when you set up this little romantic evening, you didn't have "miami vice" in mind.

Eli: Especially since I don't know "miami vice."

Lani: How can you be a cop and not know "miami vice"? I watched all the reruns growing up.

Eli: I guess there's a lot you can teach me.

Lani: Luckily, we have plenty of time. It was a really lovely picnic.

Eli: [Softly] Yeah. It was.

Lani: [Laughs]

[Soft knock on door]

Chloe: Hi. They told me you might be sleeping.

Stefan: What are you doing here? I thought you wanted to rush home and hug your kids.

Chloe: I did, but... I asked my mother to take them to new york. I need them as far away from salem as possible right now.

Stefan: Can't say I blame you.

Chloe: I'm so sorry you got dragged into this. You came in for a drink, and you end up with a bullet wound.

Stefan: [Groans] I may have to give you an unfavorable yelp review, but I'll live.

[Chuckles]

Chloe: You didn't have to do what you did tonight.

Stefan: It was nothing.

Chloe: It was not nothing. Two children still have their mother because you risked your life to save mine.

Stefan: I'm not a hero, chloe.

Chloe: Well, you were tonight. Thank you, stefan. Thank you.

Hope: Great. Send him up. The security footage from the airport is here.

Ted: Great. Hopefully it will give us the answer we need to bring ciara home.

Hope: Yeah. Listen, I know that you believe that ben really cares about ciara. But I have no doubt that footage is gonna show me he has my daughter.

[Line ringing]

Ben: Pick up the phone, ciara. Pick it up, please. Pick up.

Ciara: Hi, it's ciara. Leave a message.

[Beep]

Ben: Ciara, hey, it's me. I don't know where you are, but if you're in any kind of trouble...or somebody has taken you... I'm gonna find you. I promise you.

[Phone beeps]

Abigail: It's so late. Who's that?
