Episode #13025 ~ It's a Valentine Day, and Steve & Kayla's wedding day; Stephanie arrives home to join in the festivities; Hope receives news about her fate; Austin & Carrie reunite with Kate.

André: Dead end. By the way, did you have any luck in finding out about the key?

Kate: Okay. Not yet, but I do have the person at "the spectator" who's trying to find out what Jennifer Horton was doing on the docks the same night the shipment came in.

André: And?

Kate: So far, nothing, but...

André: Nobody goes for a stroll on the pier. Jennifer must be playing reporter again. Chad knows something about the key and how it operates the new device. She must have known it was part of that shipment. She had to know about Chad because of Abigail. Where the bloody hell is my coffee?

Kate: Okay, listen, I don't think you need any more caffeine.

André: Do you understand that Deimos is threatening to torture Chad and Gabi? Would you prefer if I were mellow?

Kate: Oh, stop. Stop. I'm just as worried about them as you are.

André: I'm also waiting to hear what the judge decides about hope.

Kate: André, I think it's going to be difficult to uphold a murder conviction when the victim is running around alive and well. I think you need to prepare yourself. Hope may go free.

André: You may be right, but she has other things to atone for.

Hope: Hey, thanks. Think I can nail André.

Eric: What'd you find out?

Hope: Well, I was finally able to hack into the accounting program that Hattie's company used.

Eric: And?

Hope: And, well, remember that footage I showed you of her ex-boyfriend Alfie showing up at the office to take her on a date?

Eric: Which was obviously André.

Hope: But it was also the same day the holding company's computer system was hacked in to. Millions of dollars were stolen from their operating account and transferred to a shell corporation in Bermuda and then to a Swiss bank account.

Eric: Psh. Could be a coincidence.

Hope: No, it's not a coincidence because the account belongs to DiMera enterprises.

Eric: Okay, and... maybe you can nail him then--

Hope: No, hold on, Eric. [Chuckles] There's more. The money was then withdrawn by someone using André's user id.

Eric: You can prove that?

Hope: Mm-hmm.

Eric: Hope, you're good.

Hope: I'm gonna clear Hattie's name. I just pray that Rafe and Steve can clear mine.

Marlena: Any luck tracking down Shane and Steve's flight?

Kayla: Well, no, because I don't have a flight number. The last I knew, they left after Rafe and that's it. I mean, it's not gonna be a very exciting wedding if the groom doesn't show up.

Marlena: Oh, honey.

Steve: Would I do that to you?

Kayla: No, I guess you wouldn't.

Steve: Uh-uh. Happy Valentine's Day, sweetness.

Kayla: Thank you.

Steve: How 'bout we get married?

Kayla: How 'bout it? I would love that.

Marlena: You know, I don't want to put a damper on this, but some people think it's unlucky for the groom to see the bride before the wedding.

Steve: We don't care about any of that, do we, baby?

Kayla: Hell, we don't.

Steve: No.

Shane: Right, I'll get back to you, then. Thanks. So Kimberly sends her love.

Kayla: Oh, thank you. Thank you.

Steve: Was that her on the phone?

Shane: Uh, no. That was just someone I thought might know where--where hope is, but I was wrong. So where's Rafe?

Steve: He's still at the courthouse waiting for the decision.

Shane: Oh.

Kayla: Yeah, we don't even know if hope knows that her conviction is up for review.

Shane: Well, if she's not there, it could negatively impact the judge's decision.

Steve: Rafe.

Kayla: Rafe.

Steve: What happened?

Rafe: The conviction's been reversed.

Kayla: What?

Steve: Oh, man! It's over, man. It's over.

Kayla: Oh, my God, that's amazing! Amazing.

Marlena: [Laughs] What a great valentine day present!

Kayla: What about the other charges?

Rafe: Ah, still pending. Hope's obviously gonna have to answer for the fact that she escaped from prison.

Shane: Any idea if hope's heard about the decision yet?

Rafe: I don't know where she is or how she is. But I did get roman to agree to put it in the press as soon as the decision was made.

Shane: Well, that's great. Maybe she'll hear about it in the media.

Rafe: Yeah, I just don't know how soon it'll be there.

[Phone chimes]

Kayla: Oh, uh, I signed up for email alert if there's anything about hope in the papers. Oh, well, here's roman's online statement.

Rafe: Wow. That's great. Now hopefully, wherever she is, she sees it.

Hope: The problem is getting what I found out about Hattie to the right people without giving away where I am.

[Computer chimes]

Hope: Hope you don't mind I signed you up for email alerts from the from the Salem paper.

Eric: No, I understand.

Hope: Oh, my God.

Eric: Hope?

Hope: Wait. Rafe and Steve proved that Stefano's alive.

Eric: What?

Wait, the-- your father gave a statement to the press. Judge overturned my conviction.

Eric: Are you kidding me?

Hope: I've been exonerated. [Laughs]

Eric: Hope...

Hope: I'm exonerated. Oh, my God. Oh, my God, I didn't kill Stefano. I didn't-- I'm sorry. Eric, I'm sorry.

[Phone ringing]

André: My man at the court. Judge's decision is in. Yeah, what is it? Are you sure? The judge has invalidated hope's conviction for murdering father.

Kate: Because Rafe and Steve proved that Stefano was alive.

André: Well, she's not gonna get away with what she did to me.

Kate: Hey, what are you going to do?

Austin: Mother?

Kate: Oh!

[Both laughing]

Kate: Austin... ah! [Laughs] Oh, my God. You can still do that. Carrie.

Carrie: Hello.

André: Excuse me. Uh, Austin, nice to see you. Something's come up. I'll see you soon.

Kate: Okay.

Austin: You're living in the same house with that creep?

Kate: Oh, don't--stop. Stop. It's no problem. Nothing to worry about.

Carrie: Looked a little scary to me.

Austin: Mm.

Kate: All right, he had no place to live, I have a lot of room, and actually, he can be good company at times.

Austin: Sometimes sounds like desperate times.

Kate: Why didn't you tell me that you were coming for the wedding?

Carrie: Well, we just found out. Steve and Kayla invited us while we were waiting at the jail in Prague.

Kate: That's right. All that excitement about Stefano. You have to sit down. Please, sit down. You have to tell me everything about it.

Austin: All right. Okay.

Kate: Everything.

Austin: Everything. Here it comes.

Kate: So?

Kayla: There's just no other way. I think we need to postpone the wedding and help in the search for hope.

Steve: Okay, let's do it.

Rafe: I think you should go through with it.

Kayla: Why?

Rafe: Because you know as well as I do it's what hope would want.

Marlena: Wow. He's right.

Rafe: I'm right. When you're right, you're right.

Kayla: Yeah.

Rafe: Okay, I gotta get down to the station. I told Shawn and Ciara I'd meet them there, and I need to make sure that roman's called off Raines and that Raines got the message.

Shane: Hey, take a written copy of the judge's decision with you. You might shove it down his throat, if necessary.

Rafe: That's a really good idea. Hopefully you two will understand if I'm not at the wedding.

Kate: Oh, you don't even need to ask.

Steve: It's all right, man.

Rafe: Yeah? Okay. Keep me informed if there's any news, all right, buddy?

Steve: Yep.

Rafe: You're a lucky man.

Steve: I know. Watch out there.

Rafe: Good luck.

Kayla: Thanks.

Rafe: Take it easy.

Kayla: Thank you.

Marlena: And if this wedding is gonna happen on time, we'd better get changed.

Kayla: Yeah.

Steve: Well, my suit is back at the Salem inn.

Shane: Mine too.

Steve: Okay. [Laughs] I will see you later, soon-to-be Mrs. Johnson.

Kayla: I can't...wait.

Steve: Tell you a little secret. This time, it's gonna be forever.

Kayla: I'm gonna hold you to that.

Steve: Okay, get her there on time.

Kayla: Bye.

Marlena: Wow. If that didn't get to you, I--

Kayla: I love that man.

Hope: Sorry. I didn't mean to be so insensitive.

Eric: You weren't. I know exactly what you've been going through... living with that kind of guilt. I couldn't be happier for you that it's over.

Hope: Eric, if it hadn't been for you, I might not have been alive to hear the news. I don't know how I'll ever thank you.

Eric: I'm gonna tell you how. You are gonna go home to Shawn and Ciara and the rest of your family and reclaim your life.

Hope: And you should do the same thing. Come with me.

Eric: No.

Hope: Eric, you're not meant to live alone. Come back to Salem--

Eric: No, no, no. I'm not ready to see my family yet.

Hope: Eric, do it now. It's time to come home. Your mom and dad miss you so much. Your whole family--

Eric: Hope, just... let it go! I'm not going back home! And that's final! You wouldn't believe what's in this kiester.

Eric: I'm sorry I spun out on you.

Hope: Eric...

Eric: I just want you to understand something. I can never go back there.

Hope: Never?

Eric: I can never face the people I lost and loved Daniel. I can never be the constant reminder... of what they... loved.

Hope: If you were still father Eric, and you heard the confession of a man who did what you did, just as deeply remorseful as you, wouldn't there be a prayer of absolution for him?

Eric: I'm not a man of God anymore.

Kayla: Yes, I got it. Okay. No, I--you know, I am not just saying it so that you don't feel bad. I'm glad you didn't cut your trip short. No, mom, listen to me. It is freezing here and you should stay where it's warm. Yes, yes, of course we're having a mass. Don't worry. Yeah, I know--I love you too. Mom, listen to me. Play with Kimberly and have a good time and stay where it's warm, and that is the best wedding present you could give us. I mean that. Okay, I love you too. Marlena: [Laughs]

Kayla: Jeez.

Marlena: Because you told her you're getting married in church and not in a bar? Let her be happy.

Kayla: I'm sad that she won't be here, but really, I-- she's just getting better, and I know she's slowing down. But can you believe she gave this to me? She left this gift. It's her pearls. The ones my dad gave her. I mean, she shouldn't give this to me. These are hers, come on.

Marlena: Honey, she wants you to have them. And um, one of your gifts from me. I'm not taking no for an answer.

Kayla: You're kidding.

Marlena: Just look first.

Kayla: Ah, no! Ah! It's too much. That is so funny.

Marlena: I am a stickler for tradition.

Kayla: Jeez.

Marlena: Oh, is that--

Kayla: Oh, my gosh, baby!

Stephanie: Hi, mom.

Kayla: Oh, my God, I can't believe you came all this way.

Stephanie: Are you kidding? I wouldn't miss your wedding for the world.

Shawn: Listen, we will never be able to thank you enough for everything you did for our mom, Rafe.

Ciara: Yeah, you never gave up on her.

Rafe: And I'm never gonna give up. And we are gonna find her, but right now, I need to find Raines.

Shawn: He's right there. Want me to go with you?

Rafe: No. No, let me deal with him myself.

Shawn: I'm gonna go in there whether Rafe likes it or not.

Ciara: No, he told you not to.

Hope: [Clears throat] Excuse me, could I get a hug? Maybe? Possibly?

Shawn: What? Oh, my God! Hey!

Hope: Hi. Hi, sweetheart. Does it really rain in Seattle all the time?

Stephanie: Oh, it's just bad pr. I love it there.

Kayla: I--look, I know you have so many accounts you're handling--how did you get away?

Stephanie: Uh, daddy thought it was a great idea.

Kayla: Oh, I'm sure he did.

Stephanie: [Sighs] This isn't just anything. You and papa are gonna be together again.

Marlena: That's what I keep saying.

Stephanie: I'd sort of given up hope that it could ever happen.

Kayla: Yeah, I'm afraid I did too, but we worked our way back to each other.

Stephanie: This is such a huge moment. I feel like I should jump up and down, I just don't want to mess up my hair.

[Laughter]

Marlena: Well, they do belong together. That's just right with the universe.

Kayla: So happy.

Shane: You gotta admit, it's pretty amazing. We just pulled off possibly the greatest sting operation of our career, and here we are, ready for your wedding with, oh, plenty of time to spare.

Steve: Are you sure we pulled it off?

Shane: Listen, the justice system has cleared hope of murder, and once she finds out, she won't believe she's a murderer either. That was our whole goal.

Steve: Mm-hmm. But we still have to live with knowing that she really did kill Stefano.

Shane: Oh, come on. Stefano goaded her into pulling that trigger. Stefano DiMera killed himself.

Steve: I like the sound of that.

Shane: And now everybody, except the two of us, believes that he escaped from jail and that he's a fugitive roaming the world, waiting to die. No one's afraid of him anymore, and that's how it should be.

Steve: That's right. Phoenix is history.

Kate: So after the wedding, we're all gonna sit down again and we can make some plans for the rest of the time you're here.

Austin: We're not done talking about you and André.

Kate: [Sighs] Austin, seriously, it's not like we're a couple, okay. That is not gonna happen.

Austin: Not only are you two living together, but I hear that you're going up against Victor Kiriakis's baby brother.

Kate: No. We're not going up against Deimos. DiMera enterprises is conducting business with Deimos. It's all very civilized, thank you very much.

Austin: Civilized means very different things between you and me.

[Laughter]

Kate: Oh, my God. How do you stand this man?

Carrie: I don't know, but I do.

Kate: No, seriously, Austin, André has changed.

Austin: He's Stefano's boy, and he always will be.

Carrie: Austin's right. Just don't get in too deep with him and, whatever you do, don't get on his bad side.

Kate: Wow. Well, thank you very much, both of you, for your concern, but I have been taking care of myself for a long time now, so.

Austin: That's true.

Carrie: Well, I need to get going if I'm gonna see Kayla before the wedding, so.

Kate: I'M...so happy you came. I really am.

Carrie: We're thrilled to be back. I'll see you at the wedding.

Austin: Okay.

Kate: Hmm.

Austin: So... how are you doing, knowing that Stefano's not dead after all and running around on the loose?

Kate: Doesn't bother me.

Austin: He could come back.

Kate: No, I think he's too old now to risk doing that, and I couldn't be more happy about it.

Shawn: So you heard, right? You heard the judge's ruling?

Hope: I can't believe it.

Ciara: Steve and Rafe were amazing.

Shawn: And, uh, Rafe is about to kill Raines right now.

Hope: I better get in there. Wait for me?

Ciara: Yeah.

Shawn: Yeah. We're not going anywhere.

Hope: Right. I love you.

Rafe: Oh, my God. Oh. Oh, my God. Detective Brady. You all right?

Hope: I am great, detective, all thanks to you.

Rafe: Sure?

Hope: Yeah.

Rafe: Okay. [Whispers indistinctly]

Hope: I'm here to turn myself in. I'm ready to give a statement.

Raines: Finally decided to cooperate.

Rafe: Wait, why don't you just take it down a notch, huh?

Hope: Rafe, it's okay.

Raines: Before you give any kind of statement, you may want a lawyer present. You're still being charged with escaping from Statesville.

Rafe: You know, it was for a crime that she did not commit.

Hope: And I didn't escape.

Raines: Excuse me, I saw you with my own eyes.

Hope: I made some friends on the inside. They were worried about my safety after I was attacked. Without my knowledge, they came up with a plan and they got me out of there.

Well, I'm sure you agreed to it.

Hope: No. I didn't even know about it. I was chloroformed in the prison yard and smuggled out in a garbage dumpster. When I came to, I believe that the man who was driving the garbage truck was part of the group that was threatening my life.

Raines: Can he corroborate your statement?

Hope: I have no idea where he is now.

Raines: [Scoffs] Well, surprise, surprise.

Rafe: Will you just let her give her statement?

Hope: As I was saying, lieutenant. After the chloroform wore off, I tried to attack him, I tried to get away from him, but I couldn't. I was too weak, and my wounds hadn't healed, and I was bleeding badly. I blacked out. He left me bleeding and unconscious on the side of the road. I never saw him again.

Raines: How come you look okay now?

Hope: Because a good Samaritan came along and took me in. Well, here I am... alive and well... just like Stefano DiMera.

Rafe: Now, call me crazy, but I bet if you went over to the D.A.'S office and told them that story, they'd probably drop the escape charges.

Raines: Don't tell me how to do my job.

Rafe: Oh, my God.

Hope: [Laughs]

Rafe: So good to see you.

Shawn: Sorry, Rafe. I tried to stop him.

André: I'd like to have a word with her.

Rafe: Yeah, in your dreams.

Shawn: Look, you grab one arm, I'll grab the other. Come on, let's get him out of here.

Hope: No. No. I'd like to have a word with him too. When it's time to move to underwear

Stephanie: I'll be honest with you, mom. When you and Joey left Africa and moved back here, I gave up on you and dad.

Kayla: I did too.

Stephanie: I mean, even when he moved back, I-- I didn't think it would make any difference.

Kayla: Is that why you didn't want to come for a visit?

Stephanie: I didn't want to see the two of you not together. It was just too hard. I mean, we were such a happy family, but we could be that family again.

Kayla: Yes, we can. And your dad and I want that more than anything.

Stephanie: He must be over the moon, huh?

Kayla: Yeah, I-- I think he is, actually.

Stephanie: So you and grandma got something old and something new covered.

Marlena: Yep, so you're on.

Kayla: Oh, no. You are not in on this.

Stephanie: Of course.

Kayla: Oh, what is it? Oh, Stephanie Johnson, did you--did you buy this?

Stephanie: I did. You'll look great in it. As awkward as this is, you can't sleep in a t-shirt on your wedding night.

Kayla: Oh, you are too much. I love it and I love you.

Carrie: Hello!

Kayla: Hi. You made it! That's so great.

Carrie: I told you I would. I wouldn't miss it. [Gasps]

Stephanie: Hi.

Carrie: Hey, cuz. I haven't seen you in forever.

Stephanie: I know.

Carrie: You look stunning.

Stephanie: You do too.

Carrie: Nice to see you. Marlena.

Marlena: Hello, my darling.

Carrie: So happy to be here! We're so happy to be part of this day.

Marlena: And I guess you got my text, so you--you--

Carrie: Yes, I did. I got it. Something borrowed.

Kayla: Oh, man.

Carrie: I bought these in Prague. I hope they look all right with your wedding dress.

Kayla: I love them, and I really love them because they are from you. Thank you. I will wear those with pride. Listen, I have one request, all right? No rice, all right? It's bad for the birds, come on.

Carrie: Oh, when we were in Prague, I heard the Czechoslovakians like to throw frozen peas after someone gets married.

Kayla: Peas? No, thank you. No way! No peas! No peas, come on. I love this. I love you guys.

Marlena: Okay, well, it's that time. Time to get to the ceremony, if you're ready.

Kayla: I am so ready.

Steve: I know we both agreed that hope can never find out what we did, but--

Shane: No. No one can find out.

Steve: Not even our wives?

Shane: Especially not our wives. Steve, listen, we've been over this before. Now, I'm never gonna tell Kimberly, but this is your wedding day, and in a moment of weakness, in the heat of the moment during your wedding night, you might spill the whole story.

Steve: That's what I'm afraid of. Listen, we both knew what we were getting into when we came up with this plan. But to perpetuate this lie-- I mean, it kind of damns us a little, don't you think? And I'm okay with that because we did it for hope, but do we have to keep lying to our wives?

Joey: Hey.

Steve: Joe! Look at you, dude. You are looking sharp! Come here.

Joey: Hey, you're gonna wrinkle my tie.

Steve: Well, I don't care. I believe you know my best man.

Shane: Yeah, good to see you again, Joey. Listen, I hear you moved into some new digs.

Joey: Yeah, I moved in with my friends.

Steve: How's that working out?

Joey: It's going well. It's good to be hanging with them, going to school, doing things a guy my age would normally do, you know.

Steve: Yeah. How's jade doing?

Joey: Uh, she seems okay. I mean, she's liking her classes, seems to be getting along in the apartment, and she's really grateful for you and mom, for taking care of her portion of the rent.

Steve: Yeah, well, maybe her parents will step up soon, huh?

Joey: Yeah, she's not holding her breath.

Steve: Well, I'm really proud of you, son.

Joey: Dad.

Steve: No, I am. The way you've been taking care of business--amazing.

Joey: Hey, I'm proud of you too.

Steve: Okay, that's enough of that.

Joey: I heard what you guys did for aunt hope. Sounds like you guys are big heroes--maybe they'll throw a parade for you.

Steve: Not gonna be any parades. How 'bout you call your mom and find out what's keeping her? I want to get this party started.

Joey: All right.

Steve: I want to get married.

Joey: [Laughs]

André: I'd like to have a word with hope privately.

Shawn: Look, too bad.

Ciara: Shawn, come on. This is complicated enough as it is. Mom, we're gonna be outside okay?

Hope: Okay. I presume that you're here because you heard the good news that your father's alive? Well, it seems that he's fooled all of us.

André: Couldn't care less about my father and his stupid games. You and I had a deal after you, Rafe, and roman framed me. I agreed I wouldn't go public with their being part of it 'cause you were going to prison. But now that you're out, the deal's off.

Hope: What are you gonna do?

André: The three of you were so happy to send me to prison for months. Perhaps lieutenant... Raines, is it? Hmm. Perhaps he'd like to hear about that. Or, you know, maybe I should tell your cousin Jennifer, now that she owns "the spectator." She'd love that story. And you know, newspapers these days are having such a hard time of it.

Hope: I got a story too. You want to hear it? It is about a man who named himself Alfonzo clarizo, but he'd prefer people to call him Alfie. And one of those people specifically being a very lovely lady we both know-- Hattie Adams. Alfie romanced her because she worked for a holding company in Chicago--it was a multimillion dollar business. And poor Hattie, well, she couldn't' see straight. She was so smitten by him that he was able to get all sorts of classified information out of her that he used to steal a fortune from the company and frame Hattie.

André: Why are you telling me all of this?

Hope: Because, André, I managed to download footage from the security company and, um, that footage showed Alfie showing up at the office to pick Hattie up to go on a lovely date, and it also showed Hattie leaving her desk and Alfie sitting right in front of the computer, hacking his way in. Oh! What do you know? Hello, Alfie.

André: So what?

Hope: So what? So I traced that money to a Swiss bank account that was owned by DiMera enterprises and then withdrawn by someone using André--you-- your user id and deposited into your account that very same day. Now, the way I see it, you can play this two ways. I can hand all of this evidence over to the FBI, get Hattie released from prison, send you back to Statesville, or I give the police just enough to get Hattie out of prison.

Rafe: And you agree not to make any accusations against hope.

Hope: Or anyone else. Alfie, what's it going to be?

Steve: Is that my little sweetness?

Stephanie: Papa, come here.

Steve: Come here, baby. Oh, it's so good to see you. I'm so glad you could be here.

Stephanie: This is such a happy day.

Steve: Yes, it is.

Stephanie: Oh, my God. You look so grown up.

Joey: Had to happen some time, right?

Stephanie: Look at you.

Steve: Okay. Well, little time before the wedding starts. Looks like you two want to catch up some.

Stephanie: Oh, yeah, that's a great idea. Let's go, kid. Come here.

Joey: Oh, give me a break.

Stephanie: Is this your coat?

[Laughter]

Steve: Hey.

Marlena: Oh, here you are.

Steve: Oh, thank you. Oh, it's nice.

Kayla: Oh, my gosh, I need some help in my--ah! Oh, no! My zipper!

Steve: Ah. There she is, finally.

Marlena: Yeah.

Steve: Well, you look beautiful with that coat in front of you.

Kayla: Just give me a second to pull it together.

Carrie: There we go.

Steve: Okay. I'll give you a second.

Kayla: Much better.

Marlena: All right, come on. You and me. Let's go. Carrie, give us a hand.

[Laughter]

Rafe: So what's it gonna be, André, hmm? Door number one, or door number two?

André: I'll take your bloody deal.

Rafe: Smart. [Laughs] Oh, my God. Oh! Well, you were amazing. That story that you told about waking up in a dumpster, though, really?

Hope: I'm fine. I survived. I'm good.

Rafe: And you took André down, too. You're not a half bad cop, you know that?

Hope: Well... you're not too shabby yourself. You gave me my freedom back.

Austin: So who is the new man in your life? Please tell me it's not André.

Kate: There is no new man.

Austin: Come on, mom.

Kate: What? It's true. I think I'm actually better off being alone.

Austin: You're kidding.

Kate: I'm not kidding.

Austin: You've always had a man.

Kate: [Scoffs] Maybe I should have been more cautious with that.

Austin: It sounds like you got burned. Who is he? Just tell me who he is and I'll take him out for you.

Kate: [Laughs] No. You know, Austin, it really doesn't matter. I came to the conclusion that we would never have worked out anyway.
