Anne: Chloe!

Chloe: Anne, hey!

Anne: Hi!

Chloe: It's been a while.

Anne: Yes! Hi! It has been. Oh, Chloe, I have such fond memories of helping you stick it to Jennifer Horton. You know, back when you were trying to win over Daniel. [Laughs]

Chloe: Yeah, I kind of regret doing that now.

Anne: Yeah. Yeah, yeah, me too. You know, this company I was working for went under, and I had to take a job at "the spectator" working for Jennifer. Ugh, ugh, and ugh.

Chloe: Yeah, it's funny where life takes us.

Anne: Yes, it is. And maybe to a new kid, huh? Another kid!

Chloe: Yeah, a little girl. I never realized how much I wanted a daughter.

Anne: Yeah, so you married again?

Chloe: No.

Anne: Baby daddy?

Chloe: No, not in the picture, and he won't be.

Anne: Oh, that's a tough life, huh?

Chloe: Oh, it's okay. I can handle it.

Anne: Well, she is a really pretty girl, huh? As pretty as her mother.

Chloe: Thank you.

Brady: Yeah, she is. But her mother isn't Chloe.

[Dramatic music]

Deimos: I don't care that you roughed up Chad this time. But just don't make a habit of it, you hear me? And you keep your hands off of Gabi Hernandez. I need to make sure that they're both in good shape if I'm gonna make any kind of deal with their families whatsoever.

[Door shuts]

Deimos: You came. I wasn't sure you would.

Nicole: What is it?

Deimos: I have a surprise for you.

Rafe: No, Shawn, I am not kidding. We got him. I'm at the police station right now, and he is in a cell.

Shawn: I can't believe this.

Belle: What?

Shawn: Rafe said that they have Stefano. They have him in jail.

Belle: Oh, my god!

Shawn: I wish I could tell my mom.

Rafe: Well, you'll get your chance, believe me.

Steve: So Rafe and I tracked him outside the building, down the street. We ended up at that outdoor cafe we've been hanging out at. We thought we'd lost him. All of a sudden, Rafe turned around. There he was.

Marlena: And it's Stefano. You're sure?

Steve: I'm sure. He's been booked, fingerprinted, and they took a DNA swab.

Sonny: Is he talking now?

Steve: No, not a word. But I didn't expect him to. Doesn't change anything, though. The ISA is sending proof he's alive to Salem.

Kayla: So now the man that hope confessed she murdered is still breathing.

Austin: Sounds like a "get out of jail free" card to me.

Steve: Exactly.

Marlena: This is wonderful.

Steve: Listen, I want to thank all of you for your part in this.

Paul: I still can't believe this is really happening.

Kayla: But it did.

Paul: Should we call dad?

Marlena: What?

Paul: Dad--should we call him?

Marlena: Oh, uh, uh, of course, of course.

Kayla: Marlena, is something wrong?

Deimos: Why don't we start with this?

Nicole: Are you redecorating?

Deimos: Take a look at the design sketch. Read what it says.

Nicole: [Sighs]

[Dramatic music]

"Holly's room."

Deimos: Yeah, that's right. I'm gonna have a nursery made, with your help, of course. Now, that's something that Chloe couldn't possibly provide in her wildest dreams.

Nicole: Thank you. But it presumes that I'm still going to marry you and live in this house with you and my child. And you, you just can't count on any of that.

Deimos: I will take my chances. I'm gonna prove to you, Nicole, that I'm still the man that you thought I was.

Nicole: How?

Deimos: Why don't you let me worry about that part, okay? All you have to do is start picking out wallpaper and baby furniture. Start designing that dream room for that child you never thought you'd have.

Nicole: You really think you can try and win me over with interior design?

Deimos: Wouldn't you like to stop thinking about how to beat Chloe and start planning for that day that you'll have your daughter living with you?

Marlena: We've all been running on adrenaline for so long. And then reality began to set in. I realized that when I thought Stefano was dead, there were so many things I wanted to say to him, that I needed to say to him. I need to talk to Stefano.

Steve: He's not gonna talk back.

Marlena: That's okay, as long as he can listen to me. Because now I need some closure on this.

Steve: Not gonna stand in your way.

Anna: Well, you're gonna have to take a number, honey, because family comes first.

Anne: Chloe, you just-- you just said...

Brady: Yeah, Chloe says a lot of things, but... do you mind if I talk to Chloe alone for a minute, Anne, please?

Chloe: No, Brady, we don't have anything to talk about. Seriously, don't go.

Anne: Oh, no, no, don't worry about it. It's fine, really, not a problem. But nice--nice to see you.

Chloe: Yeah. [Sighs]

Brady: Look, I know you think I'm taking sides here. I'm not. I'm just--I'm thinking about what's best for you. You are gonna be heartbroken when Nicole wins this thing.

Chloe: Well, then back off, Brady. Stop trying to help her take my baby away.

Brady: Listen, your baby? Do you hear yourself?

Chloe: Quit looking at me like I'm crazy. I'm the only one who's trying to do what's right for this little girl.

Brady: But you're not-- Chloe, you're shopping for her. You're breast-feeding her. You're--I mean, what is this? What are you doing?

Chloe: Stop!

Brady: Summer clothes for a one-year-old? So you're planning your future with holly? You understand that when Nicole gets custody, you're gonna look at this outfit, and it's gonna kill you inside.

Chloe: She's not going to win.

Brady: She's gonna win. Chloe, she's the biological mother. She's willing to give Deimos up. That was your whole point. That was your case. For the love of god, for everybody involved, Chloe, let this go, please.

[Dramatic music]

Nicole: Well, you're right about one thing. I've been so obsessed with getting holly back from Chloe, I haven't even given myself a chance to think about what color I want to paint the nursery.

Deimos: And I want you to have that.

Nicole: I did have that... with Sydney. And after I lost her, every time I went in that room, it was like a knife in my heart.

Deimos: Sydney wasn't yours. But holly is. Nicole, I know how much you've wanted a child, because, well, I've wanted the same. And to help you make a home for her, well, that-- that would be as good as it gets.

Nicole: But holly isn't your daughter. She's Daniel's.

Deimos: That doesn't change a thing for me. She's a part of you. And I will love that little girl as if she were my own, and I will do anything-- and I mean anything--for her. Nicole, I promised you when I asked you to marry me that I would make all your dreams come true. And I will. I will.

Nicole: Yeah? And what about my nightmares? The ones I keep having since I saw Dario in the hospital, when I found out the man I love is the one who did it? So you can wave our future in front of us, but it is now--it is right now-- that I hate the present. You tell me, can you handle that?

Rafe: Okay, roman, I will. [Laughs] All right, man. Thanks a lot. I'll talk to you soon.

Steve: What did he say?

Rafe: Well, unfortunately he can't call off the manhunt for hope. But now since there is going to be exculpatory evidence, he can pull rank on Raines so that he doesn't use excessive force again.

Carrie: Well, thank god for that.

Rafe: Yeah. I guess Anna is still in with Stefano? Hmm? I thought you made a deal with her that if you came here, she wouldn't.

Austin: You know, I thought we made a deal too, but I guess she crossed her fingers.

Carrie: Welcome to my life.

Kayla: Why did you let Anna confront Stefano first?

Marlena: Well, if I hadn't, she would have made a terrible scene, 'cause we know Anna. And also because I've been waiting for so long to say these things to him, waiting a while longer didn't seem to matter.

Kayla: Well, you go for it if you must, but I'll tell you something. For me, I don't care if I ever see Stefano or talk to him again.

Carrie: John must be very proud of you.

Sonny: He is.

Carrie: I want you to know how much it means to all of us what you've done to help hope. Rafe, now maybe you and hope can actually be together.

Rafe: That's the plan.

Anna: You see this, you...pig? It's all I have left of my tony.

Stefano: [Laughs]

Anna: He and I loved each other so much, and we should be having this happy, happy life together. But you came between us every chance that you got. You're the reason I'm alone.

Stefano: [Laughs]

Anna: Oh, what are you smirking at? You're the one sitting in a jail cell.

Stefano: [Laughs]

Anna: Say something, damn it! But, then, what can you really say, hmm? 'Cause you have nothing. Tony is dead. EJ's dead. Lexie's dead. Kristen's dead. And you're going to prison. At least I know my tony is in heaven and I'll get to see him there again someday. But you? You're headed straight for hell.

[Dramatic music]

Chloe: I'm having a really hard time believing that you actually care about my feelings. This feels like some sort of new tactic to help Nicole get what she wants.

Brady: Why are you going to the mat over this?

Chloe: Because I care about this baby.

Brady: You know damn well that Nicole is gonna be a fine mother to holly.

Chloe: Oh, really?

Brady: Yes.

Chloe: And you're basing this on what, her history? The former porn queen who has slept with or married every man in Salem? The baby-napper?

Brady: Chloe, you're not exactly mother Theresa.

Chloe: I know, Brady. But you can check my record since I've had parker. I've never missed a teacher's meeting, a dentist appointment. I've sat up with him when he's had the stomach flu, an ear infection. I will be just as good a mother to his little sister. Now, Nicole, on the other hand, she's just gonna leave her with nannies while she jets around the world with Deimos.

Brady: She--she's considering leaving Deimos. She's gonna leave him.

Chloe: No, she just said that because that's what she wants me to believe, but it's not true. She's probably at your house right now, sitting on his lap.

Brady: Do you really-- do you really-- do you really want this to go to court? You know that her lawyers, they're gonna--they're gonna dig your past up. They're gonna drag it out, including the time when you firmly believed that parker was actually Philip's.

Chloe: I don't care what people think or what they say about me. I know what I'm doing is right for holly.

Brady: By taking her away from her mother who loves her? Holly's not gonna be a baby forever, Chloe. She's gonna grow up, and she's gonna ask questions. And when she finds out what you've done, she's gonna hate you for it. She will hate you for it.

Chloe: No, she will not. Because I will tell her that I'm the one who carried her, gave birth to her, has taken care of her, and I'm the one who's gonna keep her from becoming a victim of her biological mother's mobster boyfriend. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm late to my meeting with my attorney. You know belle believes in me 100%? I'm just sad that I'm finally finding out who my real friends are.

[Dramatic music]

Deimos: What happened with Dario and André was a one-time deal. It's all but over. If you and holly are my family, I promise, I will change how I react to people like André.

Nicole: You can do that?

Deimos: Once I tie up a few loose ends, absolutely. 'Cause you and baby holly mean everything to me. Tell me, Nicole, what can I do to convince you?

Nicole: I don't know. Get a sheet of paper and write 100 times that you promise never to whack anyone again?

Deimos: I can do that, in several languages. Give me a pen.

Nicole: Thank you for saying that and... sounding like you mean it. But I'm not sure if that's enough.

Deimos: For holly... or for us?

Nicole: Both.

Austin: The money DiMera enterprises' accountants found missing after an audit... the exact amount was deposited in a dummy account that Stefano's been using since he's been on the run.

Carrie: Mom?

[Soft music]

Kayla: Did you get what you wanted?

Anna: The old bastard didn't say a word. He just sat there staring at me like I was speaking Martian or something.

Rafe: He heard you.

Anna: Yeah, I think he did. And seeing him sitting there in a cell, so down and out, that was actually more satisfying than putting a bullet in him. I think I got what I came for.

Steve: What's going on, baby?

Kayla: Yeah, this whole thing doesn't seem real. I mean, I just find it hard to believe that Stefano doesn't have some big surprise yet ahead, you know, some encore or something.

Steve: Listen. He pulled off this one last thing. It took a lot out of him. He's done. Believe me, the phoenix doesn't have it in him to rise from the ashes one more time.

Marlena: Oh, my. You know... the last time you disappeared, I thought to myself, "oh, here we go again." And then André played that tape for all of Salem to hear. You know, it was when hope was so anguished, talking about how she had killed you, even though you're a vile and disgusting human being. And I thought to myself, "he really is dead." And it made me wonder what made you tick. What I finally realized was, it's your fear. You know, you're going to hate prison. Hope won't even be there to welcome you because she'll be home with Rafe and her children. Did you know that Steve and Kayla are going to remarry? Valentine's day. Isn't that romantic? And me, I'm going home to john, the great love of my life. You know, at your memorial service-- well, what we called it was a celebration of your death-- john spoke. He said that all the things you had done to us to hurt us and separate us had only made us stronger. That was very true. The queen. Checkmate.

[Dramatic music]

Sonny: Thanks for coming out here with me.

Paul: Well, my job's done there. So you're heading back to Salem, right?

Sonny: Yeah. My mom needs me.

Paul: Yeah, yeah, I know it was hard for you, leaving her.

Sonny: Yeah.

Paul: Thank you for, uh, being out here.

Sonny: Of course. You know, I wanted to see you in action. It was pretty cool.

Paul: Steve and Rafe did all the heavy lifting.

Sonny: Yeah, but you were right there.

Paul: You know, I-I had no idea what my life was gonna be after baseball. But it never entered my mind that I was gonna be a partner with my birth father at a detective agency. [Laughs]

Sonny: Now you can make a difference in people's lives. I just wish I could say the same thing.

Shawn: No, I swear to you, grandma Julie. No, if Steve and Rafe say that it's true, then you can believe it. Yeah. All right, love you too.

Chloe: Hey, guys. So I heard a rumor that Steve and Rafe found Stefano alive?

Shawn: Yup. I was just telling Doug and Julie that my mom's nightmare is pretty much over.

Chloe: Wow, that's amazing news. Hey, I wanted to talk to you about the case, but I don't want to bother you guys right now.

Belle: Oh, no, it's fine. Sit down.

Chloe: Okay, great. Holly's sleeping, so...

Shawn: Chloe, you-- I mean, you know that we all go--we all go way back.

Chloe: Yeah, we do. High school. Last blast days.

[Laughter]

Shawn: So I hope that you know that what I'm about to say is not--is not me trying to hurt your feelings.

Chloe: I think I know where this is going.

Shawn: Look, are you sure you're doing the right thing?

Deimos: I'll tell you what. Why don't you go upstairs, all right? Take a look at the room that I've chosen for the nursery. Tell me what you think. Will you do that?

Nicole: Yeah, okay.

Deimos: All right.

[Dramatic music]

[Line rings]

Deimos: Yes, I'd like to speak with the judge. Tell him it's Deimos Kiriakis, victor Kiriakis' brother. I'm sure he'll take my call. Thank you. Judge Pearce, thank you so much for taking the time to speak with me. I know you're a busy man. My brother's doing just fine. I'll make sure that he knows that you were asking for him. But listen, um, the reason I'm calling is that I've come to learn that you've been assigned a child custody case between Chloe lane and Nicole walker. All right, well, then I have a proposition for you, one that'll make sure that justice is served. I have asthma...

[Soft music]

It's beautiful. I mean, all that light in the room.

Deimos: Yeah. And it's not too far from the master?

Nicole: No, it's-- it's not. It's just, thinking about the baby, no matter what room, it... it scares me.

Deimos: You don't have to be scared.

Nicole: Oh, come on, Deimos! When we get in front of a judge, Chloe is gonna bring up every rotten thing about my past. And I've done some rotten things. Just ask victor, okay? This is gonna go badly.

Deimos: That's not gonna happen.

Nicole: Yeah? Brady told me that I need to be patient and wait for my day in court.

Deimos: Well, Brady is right. You don't have to worry. It's all gonna work out.

Nicole: Well, why do you say that?

[Door shuts]

Brady: Hi. What brings you by?

Deimos: I asked her to come by, Brady. Is that all right?

Nicole: [Chuckles]

Brady: Mm-hmm.

Nicole: Deimos had a surprise for me. He wanted to decorate holly's nursery.

Brady: Oh, that's--that's-- that's lovely. Guess that means you two are going to be working things out, then?

Nicole: Brady, I just looked at a couple of swatches. I mean, it's not really a big deal.

Brady: No, no, it-- I mean, it is a big deal. As long as you're not throwing swatches in his face, then that means things are looking good for the two of you.

Steve: Did Kayla tell you we're getting married again?

Carrie: [Gasps] No! Really?

Austin: Oh, wow! Congratulations!

Kayla: Thank you. Listen, we want you guys to come.

Steve: Yeah.

Carrie: When is it?

Steve: It's on love day.

Kayla: Valentine's day.

Steve: Right.

Austin: Oh, that's, uh-- it's next week.

Kayla: Yeah, yeah, but I can't tell you what kind of wedding it's gonna be because all the plans keep changing, but...

Steve: Oh, baby, but we like living on the edge, don't we?

Kayla: Oh, yeah, that's who we are, right?

[Laughter]

Austin: All right, uh, we'll go. We'll be there.

Steve: Great, great.

Kayla: Wonderful!

Carrie: It's time Salem had something to celebrate.

Kayla: Yeah.

Steve: Yeah.

Kayla: That's right. Rrr.

Steve: Ooh.

Rafe: Hey. I just wanted to let you know they're all taking numbers out there to see who's gonna come in here first and give you hell. I got to say, the people I'm happiest for are the Bradys, Marlena. Maybe when Sami finds out you're gonna spend the rest of your life behind bars, she can actually tell the rest of her family where she and her kids really are. And there's hope. She's finally coming home. Yup, everything you did to her is gonna be put behind her. How was that? Yeah, how was that, goading a grieving woman into putting a bullet in your chest? Was that a good time? 'Cause, uh... looks like the good times are over. We won. You lost. Yeah. Oh, by the way, I hear there's lots of rats in here, so...you should feel right at home.

[Muffled sound of a carcreaking]

Brady: So how are André and Dario doing?

Deimos: They're both gonna make a full recovery.

Brady: So you're serious, then, no more violence?

Deimos: I don't want to lose Nicole. And she's made that one of her conditions. So from this point forward, no one else is going to be hurt on my order.

[Dramatic music]

Nicole: [Sighs] I'm not back together with him, Brady.

Brady: But you want to be.

Nicole: I'm not stupid.

Brady: I know you're not stupid. I just want you to be happy. I don't think there's a man on earth that's gonna make you happier than having holly back in your life.

Nicole: I'm just...trying to be hopeful for the future.

Brady: It's a good mind-set.

Nicole: What's wrong?

Brady: I ran into Chloe in the square.

Nicole: And?

Brady: And she had bags full of... baby items, Nicole. She's digging her heels in.

Nicole: Yeah. Well, so am I.

Brady: I told her she's making a mistake. I told her that we-- you are going to win this.

Nicole: Thank you.

Brady: I believe it. You know what I also believe? I also believe that this time next year, holly and Tate may be sharing this very same roof and that you will be an amazing mom. That's what I believe.

Nicole: Oh. Bless you for saying that and for being such a great friend.

Chloe: Oh, my god. Are you turning against me too now?

Shawn: Look, I-I know that belle wouldn't have taken this case if it didn't have any merit.

Belle: That's right.

Shawn: And--and you have proven with parker that you-- you can be a good mother. But you are not holly's mother. Nicole is. And you keeping the two of them apart, it's-- Chloe, it's just--it's wrong.

Chloe: Listen, Nicole keeps saying that she wants to have a child, but she's never gonna change. Some man will always be more important to her. Now, I may date every once in a while, but parker will always come first with me. And so will holly. And I guarantee that I'm never gonna hook up with another Kiriakis man for as long as I will live. And I just know that Nicole can't promise that.

Shawn: Yeah, I mean, I-I guess I can-- I can see your point.

Belle: Listen, you know I had reservations about taking this case. And you know that it's gonna be an uphill climb.

Chloe: But you're still on my side, right, no matter what your husband here says?

Belle: Yes. And I think we have a good shot at winning.

Chloe: [Sighs] Thank you. I mean, I just... I have to take care of holly. You guys are parents. You know what that feels like.

Shawn: Well, yeah, we--we do. Look, Chloe, I-I know that I have some questions about why you--why you're doing what you're doing, but... you are my friend, and I'm gonna find a way to support you.

Paul: Why do you think you're not making a difference to people?

Sonny: You know how I hired you to investigate Dario and Eduardo Hernandez? Well, it turned into something way bigger than knock-off leather goods.

Paul: Is that all you can say? What, you wish--you wish you'd left well enough alone?

Sonny: No.

Paul: Is that what you mean by making a difference?

Sonny: I just-- I can't say anything else.

Paul: Sonny--

Sonny: Here, look. I got you a present when you were out playing secret agent man.

Paul: Vinyl! Are you kidding me?

Sonny: Look what song it is.

Paul: This is the song that played tonight. Oh, my god! I've been looking everywhere for this.

Sonny: Yeah, you can't find it in the states.

Paul: [Laughs]

Sonny: You still have your turntable?

Paul: Yeah, it plays better than any CD ever. [Laughs] Thank you.

Sonny: You're welcome.

Paul: I mean, I didn't expect you to get me a gift. I-I, uh... I mean, I didn't get you anything.

Sonny: Hey, that's okay. Helping us nail Stefano is the greatest gift anyone could give me.

Paul: [Laughs] Okay. Well, I guess--I guess, um-- I guess I should get going. [Laughs]

Sonny: Hey, Paul, before you go...

Carrie: You're coming back to Zurich with us, right?

Anna: Well, I want to see my grandson, don't I?

Carrie: Great. Oh, as a matter of fact, we were just invited to Steve and Kayla's wedding next week, and it would be fabulous if you--

Anna: Oh, I would love to be there!

Carrie: Oh, uh, no, mom, I wasn't saying that you were invited.

Anna: Oh.

Kayla: But you are more than welcome, really.

Anna: No, no, that's all right. But maybe I will tag along to Salem. There's someone there that tony and I would really like to see.

Austin: If we leave right now, we can get on an earlier flight.

Anna: Uh, you know, I haven't said a proper good-bye to Marlena.

Marlena: Oh, email. Through email, we can do that.

Carrie: Let's go, mother. It's so exciting that we'll see you next week.

Kayla: All right, next week.

Marlena: Mwah! My darling.

Carrie: See you next week.

Kayla: All right, bye-bye.

Steve: Bye, sweetie.

Kayla: Wow.

[Cell phone ringing]

Marlena: Uh...

Kayla: No, go ahead.

Marlena: Sorry. Hi. Oh, good, you got my message. Um, uh... I am, um-- I have news to share with you. I am at the police station, and...Stefano is in a cell. I saw him there myself. Yeah. We had a very long and difficult nightmare. It's finally over.

Chloe: Thank you guys for your support. It just means so much to be with old friends.

Belle: I'll call you tomorrow.

Chloe: Okay.

Shawn: All right. Afraid this isn't going to end well.

Belle: I know. Nicole may not be a paragon of virtue, but neither is Chloe.

Shawn: But if anyone can win it for her, it's you.

Belle: Mm.

Shawn: As a trial lawyer, you--you're a natural.

Belle: Thanks for the vote of confidence.

Shawn: Mm. Always.

[Dramatic music]

Marlena: Well, Steve, Paul, and that police officer have been gone for a while, haven't they?

Rafe: Well, there was a lot of paperwork to process.

Marlena: Do you suppose Stefano will fight going back to the U.S.? I mean, that could make things hard for hope, wouldn't it?

Rafe: I don't know. I'm just glad that the DNA evidence and the fingerprints will be in the states by tomorrow.

Kayla: Well, that's got to help her, right?

Rafe: It should. But I'm not gonna rest easy till Stefano is in custody in Salem.

Marlena: Oh, he will be. I'm sure of that.

Steve: Wonder if he'll start talking when I tell him he's flying commercial.

Paul: [Laughs]

Steve: What the hell's going on? Where the hell is he?

I don't know.

Steve: I don't believe it. He did it again.

[Suspenseful music]
