Episode #13012 ~ Nicole receives a surprising visitor as she waits for Justin to post her bail; Maggie & Victor are stunned by Deimos' news; Deimos tries to reason with Chloe; Shane brings a potential new lead about Stefano to Steve, Rafe, Kayla, & Marlena.

Kayla: If Shane said he's coming, he's gonna come.

Rafe: Shane also said he has reason to believe that Stefano is still alive. Hope's life is on the line. What's more important than that?

Marlena: Hey, Shane knows that.

Rafe: Okay, you're right. I know. Okay, I'm sorry. It's just... I'm getting edgy. Time is of the essence here.

Justin: I don't want anyone to see us gloating.

Nicole: What?

Justin: Nicole, your bail hearing went extremely well. All we have to do is free up the funds, and you are out of here. It's called winning! Smile!

Nicole: Justin, thank you. I really do appreciate everything you've done. But I... I don't feel like a winner right now, because I'm still accused of murder, and I still don't have my baby girl.

Justin: I understand. Be patient. It'll happen.

Nicole: When?

Justin: Well, the DNA results should be back any minute, and then once I can legally prove that you are Holly's biological mother, I'll ask the court to award you sole custody, hopefully by this afternoon. So just hold on tight. I'll be right back.

Nicole: Okay.

[Soft music]

Daniel: It's not like you to be so defeated.

Nicole: [Gasps]

Maggie: Deimos, what's wrong?

Deimos: What? What do you mean?

Victor: You sent us a text: "Come to the hospital ASAP."

Deimos: Oh, I'm so sorry. I should have made it clear that it wasn't an emergency. No, I... I have some news to tell you, very important news.

Victor: Is it about the guy Nicole shoved a steak knife into?

Deimos: No, no, there's no news about him. He's still in an induced coma. The doctors have assured me that he's recovering nicely.

Maggie: I still find it so hard to believe that Nicole would do something like that.

Victor: Oh, really, Maggie? Do you not know the woman at all?

Deimos: She believed he was gonna kill me, Victor. She did what she had to to stop him.

Victor: A hit man?

Deimos: Yeah, seems likely. Well, let's see what kind of story he tries to spin once he wakes up. But no, that's--that's not the news I wanted to give you. Now, what I'm about to tell you will absolutely come as a shock to you, okay, so just--

[Dramatic music]

Well, hello, Chloe. Would you like to tell Victor and Maggie the truth about baby Holly, or shall I?

Deimos: I see you haven't been handcuffed, which means you haven't been charged yet.

Maggie: What?

Deimos: Officer, aren't you gonna do your duty?

All I did was conduct an interview, sir.

Chloe: Right, so if you'll excuse me...

Deimos: Victor, Maggie, I think it's important that you come to know that there was a DNA test performed today on baby Holly here. Now, the results are gonna surprise you... but not me and certainly not Chloe. Am I right?

Chloe: Holly is not my child, biologically. I was a surrogate. [Clears throat] Actually, she's... Nicole and Daniel's child. Maggie, she's your granddaughter.

Maggie: [Gasps]

Nicole: Daniel! Oh! I know this is a dream. Or maybe I'm just crazy. I think a lot of people would bet on crazy, but... I'm gonna go with a dream. Oh, I wish I could dream about you every night when I go to sleep. So I... I guess you know we have a baby.

Daniel: I do.

Nicole: Oh, wow. Daniel, I just remembered. When I dreamed about you before, that's what you were trying to tell me. When you said you would always be with me, you were trying to tell me about our little girl.

Daniel: Holly.

Nicole: Yes!

Daniel: Yes.

Nicole: Oh, God, to hear you say that, that's amazing! I never thought I'd hear you-- do you like it? Do you like her name?

Daniel: It's terrific. It suits her to a T.

Nicole: Yeah. You know, you need to be more specific, mister. You know, you--you said that I should move on and you'd always be with me, but you never mentioned anything about Holly. Because if you did, I could have saved myself a lot of trouble.

Daniel: Hey, don't worry. Do not worry. Everything is gonna be just fine.

Nicole: That's easy for you to say. Chloe has lawyered up, and she is suing for custody. And look at me. I'm barely out of handcuffs. That's really gonna go over well in the courts, right? And plus, Chloe's just gonna flash that smile of hers and tell the judge what a wonderful job she's done raising parker. And then the judge is just gonna give her Holly--

Daniel: Okay, Nicole? Nicole, hey. I trust you. I trust in you. Because I know you. You are gonna do whatever it takes to get our little girl back. And you will.

Steve: That's it. I agree with Rafe. Not cool for Shane to keep us waiting.

Rafe: Exactly. It's been over an hour.

Steve: I think I better go try to track him down.

Shane: Don't bother. I'm here. Sorry to keep you waiting, but I've been working round the clock, and I think you'll agree it was worth it.

Marlena: Oh, it's so good to see you.

Rafe: Finally.

Steve: Glad you could make it, governor.

Kayla: What have you got?

Shane: Good news, I think. You know that surveillance we had on those two houses Stefano owns? Well, it's just paid off.

[Dramatic music]

Nicole: Daniel, I know you want me to be strong and have faith and all that, but this is... this is bad. I stabbed a guy-- in public, with witnesses. It's like I'm old-school Nicole again. I mean, do you see what I've become without you here to ground me? I could go on trial for murder if this guy dies.

Daniel: Hey, no one is saying it's not serious, but you--you have been in tight spots before. You'll get through this.

Nicole: I wish I knew how.

Daniel: You love Holly. You want to be with her, raise her, be a mother to our little girl. That's your motivation. You will fight, and you will win.

Nicole: I do love her. And I want to be there for her, always, and watch her grow up. But, Daniel, you were supposed to be here to help.

Daniel: You will do great without me. I know you. You have so much love inside of you, so much strength. And don't forget, I will always be looking out for you.

Nicole: I know. I know. That means so much to me.

Daniel: I will also be looking out for our little girl and watching her grow up, beautiful, kind, funny-- like her mom.

Nicole: No. I want her to be like you, not me.

Daniel: Okay, how about if-- if she's like both of us, hmm? But mostly... like Holly, like herself.

Nicole: That sounds perfect.

Daniel: Okay.

Nicole: Oh, Daniel, I wish you could be here with me all the time and not just in my dreams. [Sobs]

Daniel: You remember this, okay? My heart will always be with you... and also with our daughter.

[Door clatters]

Nicole: Brady.

Brady: You okay?

Nicole: Yeah. Yeah.

Brady: You've been crying.

Nicole: I know. But it was just, uh... it was just a dream.

Brady: Well, hey, I got some news that might cheer you up. DNA results came back, and Holly is definitely yours and Daniel's, proof positive. Now, Justin is ready to go to court. You ready for a fight?

[Soft music]

Nicole: [Sighs]

Chloe: And Nicole had pretty much come to terms with the idea that she could never conceive. But every time she talked about not being able to have a child, I just saw such sadness in her eyes that one day, I just made a suggestion.

Maggie: In vitro, and you would be the surrogate.

Chloe: Right. Convincing Daniel was a whole other thing.

Victor: I'll bet it was.

Maggie: No. He knew how much Nicole wanted to be a mom. And he'd do anything to make her happy.

Chloe: Yeah. So we went ahead, and we did it, but it didn't work. We were all really disappointed, but I guess we shouldn't have been. The odds are never very high that it works. Anyway, they said that I could try again anytime that I felt like I was ready, and I was planning on trying again when they were on their honeymoon in February, but then...

Victor: Daniel died.

Chloe: Yeah. Nicole was so heartbroken that we never talked about a baby again. Then when I saw her again in may, she just-- she looked so sad and alone, and I-I got the idea that maybe I could help keep a part of him alive for her.

Maggie: For all of us.

Deimos: Yeah, but you see, the problem is that Chloe kept the whole thing secret, even after she came to realize that she was indeed carrying Nicole and Daniel's child.

Chloe: You know, I don't regret for one minute keeping this a secret. The idea of you being anywhere near Holly or parker is revolting. You are nothing but an evil--

Victor: Chloe, nobody cares what you think about Deimos. Seriously. You dare to judge him or anyone else after the kind of life you've led?

Maggie: Victor!

Victor: You had no right keeping that secret!

Maggie: Victor!

Chloe: You know how much I value your opinion, Victor.

Victor: You were nothing but an incubator. You are not the child's mother!

Chloe: Wrong. I carried this beautiful girl. I love her like she's my own.

Victor: Oh, you don't love anyone. You're incapable.

Maggie: Victor, stop!

Chloe: That is not true. I'm a damn good mother, Victor. Parker is a happy, well-adjusted little boy because of me.

Deimos: Oh, you know what? That's so touching, Chloe, but now that we have indisputable proof that Holly is not your child, I'm sorry, but I'm not all that moved by your love for her, and I'm sure as hell no one else is either...

Chloe: Just shut the hell up, okay?

Deimos: Especially considering the fact that her real mother is alive and well, ready to give her heart and soul to her daughter, this woman's granddaughter, who, in spite of all your pathetic protestations to the contrary, is not your child!

Chloe: I brought her into this world.

Deimos: All right, well, now it's time for you give her up!

Chloe: The hell I will. I'm suing for full custody.

[Dramatic music]

Shane: The agents in place thought I was nuts. I had them glued to those two houses Stefano DiMera owns. I'm sorry, I should say the houses Rudolfo owns. And Paul was a godsend. He helped me go through all the security cameras in the area. And I'm talking hours and hours of tape.

Rafe: Okay, but what did you get? Is there anything that we can use?

Shane: Well, how does a couple of dozen photographs of the man we think might be Stefano DiMera sound?

Rafe: Um, well, that sounds great, if it's him and if we can prove it, because that's the only way we can get a search warrant.

Steve: Hey, hey, hold on, buddy. Just wait till you see the ISA's facial recognition program.

Kayla: Well, do we have to go somewhere to see it?

Shane: Nope, it's all right here. It's an ISA program. It's highly classified but pretty neat all the same. You want to take a look?

Steve: Okay. Finally gonna see if the phoenix really did rise from the ashes... one more time.

Shane: All right, ready? Here we go.

Brady: Hey. Hey, you're not gonna go to-- go to pieces on me, are you? I mean, this is good news.

Nicole: I know. I know. It's... it's just that this is, uh... wow, this is overwhelming. When Chloe admitted that Holly was mine, it's not that I didn't believe her, because I did. But I was just thinking how many times I came close to being a mother and I failed. I just got used to it. I didn't trust that it could be true. I was waiting for the other shoe to drop, like it always did. [Laughs softly] But DNA, absolute proof-- I mean not just for the whole world but for me-- I mean, I didn't realize how much I needed to hear that.

Brady: Now you understand why Deimos and I didn't tell you right away, because if-- if I told you that Holly was yours and then the DNA came back another way--

Nicole: I know, okay? I know you only did that because you cared. I get that now, Brady. I do. And it was because of you-- especially you. You knew. You knew that it would tear me apart if I thought Holly was mine and then to have her taken away from me. And I'm sorry. I'm... I am so sorry that I was angry with you at first.

Brady: Stop. No, no, no. There's no need to apologize to me. I get it. I do.

Nicole: I am so grateful. I am... I am so grateful now, especially for this amazing gift that Daniel and I have been given. It's a miracle. It is such a miracle.

Brady: It's a total miracle. I love it. It is. Yes.

Nicole: So where's Holly now?

Brady: She's with Chloe, Nicole. Chloe's legally her mother. Until we get that birth certificate declared null and void, that's the way it is.

Nicole: I am so furious with Chloe for taking matters into her own hands and getting impregnated with my child without my knowledge. But if she hadn't, Holly wouldn't be alive, and that's all that matters now.

Brady: Justin is ready to sue for custody.

Nicole: So you mean until the courts go through God knows how many pages and hearings and testimonies, Holly's gonna be with Chloe?

Brady: Sorry. Yeah.

Nicole: [Sighs] That can't happen, Brady. It can't. I need to be with her. I need to be with my baby! [Crying]

Victor: Chloe, for once in your life, try not to be an idiot.

Maggie: Victor!

Victor: You don't have a leg to stand on. DNA, remember? You are not the mother!

Chloe: I'm Daniel's ex-wife.

Victor: What the hell has that got to do with anything?

Chloe: I'm the mother of his son, who's Holly's half brother. Oh, and on her birth certificate, where it says "mother," they put "Chloe lane." Add that to the fact that Nicole is being charged with attempted murder, I think the court will see things my way.

Deimos: Are you really willing to go through all of this just so that I can't be near Holly?

Chloe: Or parker or me.

Deimos: Even if that means that your best friend, Nicole, the mother of this child, will be legally forced to stay away from her as well?

Chloe: As long as you're hanging around. Maybe you should make that fresh start you tried to sell me on.

Victor: Oh, you stupid twit. Your case will be tossed in a heartbeat. Secretly having someone else's child implanted in you--

Chloe: There was nothing secret. I had Daniel and Nicole's written permission to try anytime. I've done nothing wrong.

Ma'am, I'm heading back to the station now. Remember, don't leave town.

Victor: "Don't leave town." Oh-ho-ho! Now, that's not the kind of advice police give to somebody who hasn't done anything wrong. Of course, you don't care about the courts.

Chloe: I'm so glad I'm being lectured on morals by you two.

Victor: You don't have a snowball's chance in hell, woman. Why don't you just figure out what's right and then do it for a change? Oh, no. No, no, no. You'd rather play mother of all mothers, protecting a baby that's not even yours just so you can stick it to Deimos.

Maggie: Victor, be quiet. Chloe, I'd like a moment with you... and my granddaughter.

Chloe: Maggie, I know this came out of the blue, and I thank you for shutting Victor down, but there's a reason why I--

Maggie: No, no, no. Never mind all that now. First things first. May I... may I hold Holly?

Chloe: Yeah, of course. Here you go, grandma. Here.

Maggie: Hi!

Chloe: Got her?

Maggie: Well, hello. [Speaking indistinctly] How are you? Oh, you're so tiny.

Chloe: Take her out of that.

Maggie: There you go.

Chloe: Yeah.

Maggie: And you're so perfect.

Chloe: Let's take that off.

Maggie: Oh, yes. I can see Daniel's eyes. You are just amazing. Yes, you are.

Chloe: Yeah, she is, isn't she?

Maggie: Here you go. Hi!

Chloe: I would give anything for Daniel to be able to see her even for just a minute.

Maggie: Well, you'd have plenty of company. I miss him every day. But when I hold this little one and see that chin and those eyes...

[Holly fussing]

Maggie: Why are you doing this, Chloe? Why are keeping Holly to yourself? I just don't-- it doesn't make any sense to me.

Chloe: I thought I was being clear. It's not about me keeping her for myself. It's about keeping her away from Deimos. That man is evil. There's no other way to put it.

Maggie: You think he would hurt her?

Chloe: Well, maybe not physically or directly, but people-- people get hurt in the Deimos sphere of influence. And even if she managed to avoid that at first, there's no way that Holly's not gonna be poisoned by who he is, what he is, his anger, his lack of morals.

Maggie: [Shushing]

Chloe: There's no way that I'm gonna let a child that I brought into this world be anywhere near that. Come on, Maggie, you of all people should understand me. You know what Deimos is like. You were paralyzed because of him. Do you really want him raising your granddaughter?

Maggie: I've made peace with Deimos. And it's easy to see how much he loves Nicole. But that's not what's important here. Chloe... a child should be brought up by its mother.

Chloe: Maggie, normally I would agree with you, but in this instance, no. Deimos is dangerous, and as long as Nicole is with him, I'm keeping this baby.

Deimos: I can't believe that twisted bitch. [Exhales sharply] I really need to stay calm.

Victor: You certainly do. You know, I can understand your having dark thoughts about that minx. She is still at the top of her game when it comes to making men unhappy.

Deimos: Believe me, I'm doing my best to be patient.

Victor: Just keep at it. In the end, you'll win. Remember, Daniel is my godson, so I've got a stake in this.

Deimos: I'll take whatever help I can get.

Victor: Then we both have the same goal. That child will be raised a Kiriakis.

Nicole: I'm not gonna let this get to me, Brady. I-I'm not, okay? Seriously. I mean, I... I have the facts on my side.

Brady: DNA doesn't lie.

Nicole: Bingo. Holly is mine, not Chloe's. And any judge in his right mind would see that and give me my baby.

Brady: Look at you, being all rational and calm. It's great.

Nicole: Daniel would want that.

Brady: Yes, he would. So good for you.

Nicole: Good for me.

Brady: Good for you.

Nicole: Oh. I'm lucky. I'm lucky to have someone looking out for me.

[Soft music]

Shane: Now, the program has already run through a lot of these images before, but I wanted you to see them so you can see the kind of problems we're facing.

Kayla: Looks an awful lot like Stefano.

Shane: Yeah, well, exactly. I'd agree with you, Kayla, but there aren't enough markers to give us a positive id. Yeah, it's the same with all the rest of these pictures. See, not enough markers, not enough light, too much light, et cetera, et cetera. Oh, and here, you see, going through some entranceway to what looks like an office building. So we blew it up.

Steve: Yeah, that kind of made it worse.

Shane: Yeah, you're right. Blowing up the photo just made it worse. And that's where our latest technology comes in. It uses what's called metric geometry. Now it's, um-- see, it's searching now for a--

Marlena: Oh! Wait, look at that.

Rafe: It's him!

Kayla: It's Stefano.

Marlena: It really is him.

Steve: Son of a bitch is still alive. (Vo) if you have type 2 diabetes,

Rafe: Where was that photo taken?

Shane: That one was taken in that office building we saw earlier, the one near Wenceslas square.

Rafe: Okay. Give me the address. I'm on it.

Shane: No, wait! Rafe, no! Hold up.

Rafe: What do you mean, "no"?

Shane: The ISA is gonna be handling things from now on in.

Rafe: Oh, handling things? You mean like through the proper channels, in slow motion, while Stefano gets away?

Steve: Rafe, come on.

Shane: He's probably not even there by now. This was taken yesterday.

Rafe: Where is he now?

Shane: Well, search me. Your guess is as good as mine. Probably in one of his two houses. I'll have the surveillance team get onto it, and, uh, I'll let you know. But they will be making the call as to how and when the arrest goes down, all right?

Rafe: Oh, okay. So will that be today or tomorrow, whenever they feel like it?

Marlena: Rafe.

Shane: We're gonna get him, Rafe. Seriously, we will. All right, I got to get out of here. I've got to go back to London. But my team will handle things here. Talk to you later.

Kayla: Thanks, Shane.

Marlena: Thank you so much.

Steve: Good work, man.

Marlena: Well.

Kayla: That was exciting.

Marlena: Yeah. That's positive proof, hmm?

Steve: Hey, we weren't on a wild-goose chase after all, huh?

Rafe: No, no, except now we're back where we were: Waiting.

Steve: I don't know about that.

Kayla: What do you mean?

Steve: Well, I don't think we should wait. The ISA is gonna be walking on eggshells, gonna be worrying about jurisdiction, protocol. I bet you every undersecretary at that embassy is gonna have to sign off on this thing.

Rafe: You're absolutely right. And as soon as Czech security finds out about it, Stefano is gonna know five minutes later.

Steve: Right.

Marlena: Wait a minute. What are you saying, we go after him ourselves?

Steve: Yeah. We'll clue in Shane eventually.

Rafe: I'm sure as hell not going back to Salem with a picture that Stefano's alive as proof. We need him in the flesh.

Steve: So we need to bring him in ourselves. Everybody up for that?

[Dramatic music]

Nicole: Thank you, Brady.

Brady: You're welcome.

Nicole: But really, you don't have to stay here with me. Justin's rounding up the bail, and I'll be out of here soon.

Brady: No, I want to see it with my own eyes when you walk out of here. I think, if the situation were reversed, you would probably stay for me.

Nicole: Yeah, probably would. We've been friends a long time, haven't we?

Brady: Yeah, a really long time.

Nicole: [Laughs]

Brady: Now we have even more in common. We have kids.

Nicole: Yeah.

Brady: We are parents.

Nicole: We have kids. And we're all on our own.

Brady: Hey, we're gonna be seeing a lot of each other. I don't know if you know that or not, but there's-- there's carpooling. There's babysitting. There's-- playdates are important. What is it?

Nicole: You miss him too, don't you?

Brady: Every time it beats, I miss him. He was my best friend. Hell, I still, uh... still have a bad day, and I'll just instinctively take out my cell phone, and I will hit his number and then realize that...

Nicole: I know.

Brady: [Sighs] He had this way. Whenever you were having a tough day, you go to him, he wouldn't just give you an answer. He would, um... he would ask you questions, which would make you think, and then he'd ask another question, and that would make you think even more, and before you knew it, you had the answer all on your own. I miss that about him.

Nicole: Oh, if Daniel were here to see his daughter... it's weird, you know? I mean, I spent so many years wanting to have a child of my own, and now it's happened, and I'M... I am so scared. I mean, how am I gonna do this alone?

Brady: No. You don't have to be alone. I am gonna be there for both of you. You understand?

Nicole: Yeah.

Brady: Okay.

Nicole: [Chuckles] [Sighs]

Chloe: Maggie, you're welcome to visit anytime you like. Just give me a call. Victor's invited as well, as long as he's willing to keep things civil.

Maggie: Thank you.

Victor: Well?

Chloe: Well what?

Victor: Wonderful. Just what America needs-- more lawyers, more legal fees. Come on, Maggie.

Chloe: Excuse me.

Deimos: Chloe, wait. Give me a minute, all right, maybe two.

Chloe: What for?

Deimos: I would like one last chance to try to change your mind. Please.

Rafe: Well, I'm in. What? Oh, come on, people, what are you waiting for? Hope is on the run. She could be shot, killed, or just captured and taken back to Statesville, where some inmate kills her!

Steve: You already know I'm in.

Rafe: Okay.

Steve: Ladies?

Kayla: I just don't know how we're gonna succeed when all these spy agencies haven't been able to.

Steve: We just have to figure out a way to get to him that they haven't thought of.

Marlena: So... we need a trap. And I know better than anybody what Stefano's obsessions can make him do. He tends to surrender his own best judgment. So... I say that I put myself out there as bait. And that's how we get hope back.

Maggie: I saw Holly.

Nicole: Oh.

Maggie: I even got a chance to hold that sweet little thing. [Sighs] I tried, Nicole-- I really tried-- but I couldn't get Chloe to change her mind.

Victor: The woman's an idiot. Talking to her is a waste of breath.

Maggie: I think what Victor wants to say is, forget about Chloe right now. Whatever you need, whether it's a custody fight or those charges that you're facing, we'll help any way that we can.

Justin: So! Guess whose bail I just posted.

Nicole: Yay!

Justin: Come on. You just have some forms to sign, and then you're out of here.

Nicole: Okay, let me at 'em.

Brady: I'll wait here. You come and get me when you're done, okay?

Nicole: Okay.

Brady: All right.

Deimos: Chloe, I realize that you haven't trusted me since... well, since I called you that day and asked for your help.

Chloe: And you admitted your name wasn't Robert? Yeah, go figure.

Deimos: And I'm truly sorry for all the things that I've done to hurt you.

Chloe: [Sighs] You're not gonna list them, are you? I don't have time for this.

Deimos: All right, you know what? Why don't we avoid talking about the past, shall we? Because what's important right now is the present... and the future.

Chloe: Okay, a minute, two?

Deimos: Chloe, I know that we have our differences, but there is one thing that we share in common: Our love for Nicole. It was your love, your respect for her that made you give her a child. You put your life at risk so that her dream of becoming a mother could finally come true. Try to remember, Chloe, why you did that, and give Nicole the baby that she so desperately wants. Now, that--that would be a true act of love and friendship on your part. My God. What the hell? Why do you even need the time? I mean, Victor said it himself. There's no way that you could win in court, which means that everything you're doing right now isn't just wrong-- morally wrong, Chloe-- but it's completely futile! Let me tell you something. If you don't give up that child now, it's only a matter of time before a judge takes her from you-- by force if necessary-- and gives her to us. Yeah, yeah, that's right, Chloe, us! Because when Nicole and I get married, I'm gonna be Holly's father. And let me tell you something. There's nothing you can do about it.

Chloe: No, stop. Stop. You and your threats can go to hell. I will see you and Nicole in court.

[Dramatic music]

Maggie: It's amazing. A part of Daniel... will be with us forever. Oh, Victor. As happy as I am to know that and as blessed as we all are to have this child in our lives, he should be here. He should be here to share in this joy.

Victor: You're right, Maggie. I'm so sorry.

Maggie: Oh, I just don't understand all this anger from Chloe.

Victor: I do. When she's not being stupid, she's crazy and vindictive.

Maggie: Well, let's just hope all of this works out and no one else gets hurt.

Victor: I doubt that very much. There's only gonna be one winner. And starting today, everybody in this family has to pull together to make sure Nicole comes out on top.
