Eve: Jennifer. You, uh, are in a hurry today.

Jennifer: Yeah, um... I-I need to get home.

Brady: Get home with those pills, Jenn?

Jennifer: Eve, what are you doing back in Salem? I thought that you were, uh, living in new York and going to school and...

Eve: I'm not going to school. I'm teaching at a conservatory. But I came home to... look after my, uh, little sister's baby boy.

Jennifer: Uh, yes, we--we need to be there for Tate and for Brady. So, um, good luck and I'll see you soon.

Brady: Jenn. Mind if I talk to you for a minute in private, please?

Jennifer: I have so many errands to run and I really need to get home and... yeah, sure. Sure. Now's good.

Rafe: Hey, Chad.

Chad: Hey. Thanks for staying late.

Rafe: Well, sounded important. What's up?

Chad: It's about hope. And, um, I have some information about the night my father was shot. It's gonna change everything.

Roman: You know, I... I'm just really not sure what I can do to help her, but if Hattie has the kind of pull around here that I've heard she has, then anything that will help you will be done.

Hope: I appreciate that. She's kinda taken a liking to me. I should warn you, before she shows up that--

Roman: Ah, hey, Ms. Adams.

Hattie: Wow. What a gentleman. Stands up when a lady comes in the room, you know? You are just as sweet as you can be.

Roman: Well--

Hattie: And I wanna thank you for coming all the way up here. Just to help me. Been too long. Too long since I saw that handsome face.

Roman: [Chuckles]

Nicole: Oh, my god. [Exhales]

[Tense music]

How's that drug I gave you, pal? Doing it for you? Feeling the buzz?

[Knock at door]

Deimos: Is he ready?

Oh, yeah. This boy's brain is wide open.

Deimos: Good. Time to get some answers.

[Dramatic music]

Brady: Would you give us a minute, please?

Eve: Sure, Brady. I'll just take Tate around and we'll look at the Christmas decorations in the window.

Brady: Thank you.

Eve: [Indistinct murmuring]

Brady: You wanna tell me about these pills here, Jenn?

Jennifer: Brady, really, it's no big deal. It's just--

Brady: [Indistinct] Just--let me see. Give them to me, please.

Jennifer: Okay, fine. I knew you were gonna do this anyway, so fine, here. It's a refill on a prescription.

Brady: A refill of-- what is it?

Jennifer: It's, uh... I was having a hard time after Abigail, and... and after JJ being shot, so my mother got me a prescription for antidepressants. And they are non-habit-forming.

Brady: Non-habit-forming. I understand that, it's just... sorry, it's just...

Jennifer: What?

Brady: You acted very nervous. You were really nervous about showing me these.

Jennifer: I know that, because I knew that you were gonna do what you just did, and so I got defensive and that made me nervous, and I didn't mean to get nervous. It was just a whole knee-jerk reaction, the whole thing.

Brady: Okay, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Just looking out for you. I'm just trying to be a friend. I didn't mean to jump to conclusions, Jenn.

Jennifer: It's okay. Thank you.

Brady: Are these antidepressants-- are they working for you?

Jennifer: Yeah, seem to be fine.

Brady: You know that if you ever need a friend to talk to, you know...just... just call me. I'll be there for you.

Jennifer: I know. I know. Thank you, Brady.

Brady: I'm glad you know.

[Tender music]

Daniel: You know this is a dream, right?

Nicole: I wish it wasn't. I wish this would last forever. We had everything planned, didn't we? The wedding, our honeymoon, spending the rest of our lives together. And it was taken from us.

Daniel: I remember you once said to me, when I was feeling sorry about myself for something... you said, "hey, when option a isn't available, you kick the livin' daylight out of option B." You remember that?

Nicole: I do.

Daniel: Yeah. Every day, Nicole, every day is so special. Maybe losing me can help you find some... some deeper gratitude for all these good things in your life. Especially people, the people who care about you... and love you. Starting with Deimos.

Deimos: You can leave now. I've got this.

Philip: Why? Why are you doing this?

Deimos: No, no, no, Philip. That's not how this works. I ask the questions. You give the answers. Starting now.

Rafe: This way we'll have a little more privacy. So what's this new information?

Chad: Well, it, um, it came from Harold. You know, my butler.

Rafe: All right.

Chad: Um...I'll just start. So apparently, a few days before my father was shot, a man came to the house to deliver a gun that my father had ordered, a pistol. Normally, Harold wouldn't have a clue about this sort of thing, but 'cause my father was in a wheelchair...

Rafe: Got it.

Chad: Anyway, apparently, they were just joking around while my father was counting out the money. And Harold said he heard him ask my father if he was planning on shooting someone. Well, my father replied with, "no. But if I play my cards right, somebody will shoot me."

Rafe: Seriously?

Chad: Yeah. Harold said those were his exact words.

Rafe: Wow.

Chad: So the theory you and Shawn had is...it's right. Apparently.

Rafe: Stefano wanted to be shot. Planned on it.

Chad: At least he'd have a quick death. And I doubt he knew hope was gonna be the one to show up to do--

Rafe: No, no, no. He had no idea she was going there.

Chad: You remember how hope said that he offered her a gun to shoot him?

Rafe: Yeah, this totally backs that up, that he was goading her into doing it, that... he wanted to die. And she just walked right into that trap.

Chad: For her it was the wrong place, wrong time. For him, it was the right person, perfect time. He got to pull off one last act of revenge, taking down one of the Bradys.

Hattie: Really? You've never tried speed dating, huh?

Roman: No, 'fraid not.

Hattie: Wow. It's what everybody's doing now, you know? It's, um...well, you see, the woman, she gets about a minute to, you know, to talk about herself, and then the guy, he gets about a minute to talk about himself, and then everybody changes seats. Anyway, so I went to this hotel and I had about a new York minute with this... this really handsome guy.

Roman: Clarizo.

Hattie: Alfonso Clarizo, yeah. Alfie.

Roman: And this is the guy you believe framed you.

Hattie: Oh, I know he's the one that framed me. He sweet-talked me to the point where I couldn't even see the nose in front of my face. Then before you knew what happened, millions of dollars went missing. Alfie went missing. Then I got arrested. Mr. Roman, I can still see that lion face in my dreams, you know what? Oh, hey! They went and made you the commissioner, didn't they?

Roman: [Chuckles] Yes, they did.

Hattie: That's great. That's great. That's a really powerful position, you know, and... you know what they say about power. You know? Power is the real aphrodisiac.

Roman: [Chuckles nervously] Well, uh...ms. Adams--

Hattie: You know what? I just like you to call me Hattie.

Roman: Okay. But you know what, Hattie? I wanna say this. I am so very sorry that Alfie took advantage of you and got you in so much trouble, so what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna have a sketch artist come down here. And I'm gonna look further into it, and I will do everything I possibly can to help you. And that is a promise.

Hattie: Oh! Isn't he just the bees' knees?

Hope: That's... that's what he is.

Roman: And also, Hattie, thank you so much for looking after hope. She is my family, and that's important to me.

Hattie: Oh, okay...

Hope: [No audio]

Hattie: Well, then... I'm real glad to do it for ya.

Roman: Well, thank you 'cause it is good to know somebody's watching her back.

Hattie: Yeah. I love--

Hattie. Time.

Hattie: [Growls] Just as we were getting to know each other better. Well, I wanna thank you, Mr. Roman for helping me out here. I gotta go work in the kitchen now, so I...

Roman: Well. Thank you.

Hattie: Yeah. I'm thinking that maybe, you know what, I'll... I'll just go make my specialty. It's a soufflé, and I make it real sweet... like you.

Roman: Thank you. [Laughs]

Rafe: Chad, this is amazing. Hope might get-- wait a second. Will Harold testify?

Chad: Yes, he said he would.

Rafe: Oh, my God. Do you have any idea what this will do to Justin and the weight of his appeal? You didn't need to come in here and do this, and you did. Thank you so much.

Chad: Just the right thing to do.

Rafe: Okay, yeah, it was, but...I know I've said some pretty bad stuff about your father and the department obviously feels a certain way about him--

Chad: I knew him by reputation before I knew he was my father.

Rafe: Look, I get it.

Chad: I knew the man that he was. He was capable of hurting people. He was corrupt, he would steal, he would take advantage. That never stopped. Manipulating was a high art to him and...and... as soon as hope walked in...

Rafe: She was pretty much doomed.

Chad: Had she walked away, we wouldn't be having this conversation. She was in a bad place. My father saw it, took advantage of it, the way he does. Now she's paying the price.

Jennifer: Thank you for not freaking out about the whole pill thing in front of eve, because we just have this history--

Brady: I get it, I get it. I understand. As far as the pill thing is concerned, it's between us, all right?

Jennifer: Thank you.

Brady: Jenn, look, I know about what happened with Abigail, and it's gotta be hard for you. It still has to be hard for you.

Jennifer: Yeah, I just take it one day at a time.

Brady: Hey, are you a mocha latte girl, by any chance?

Eve: Now how did you know that? Thank you so much.

[Cell phone rings]

Brady: This is work. I should really take this. Excuse me.

Eve: How's JJ? I heard he was shot, but he's recovering. Everything okay?

Jennifer: Mm-hmm. We don't need to talk about JJ. I really need to go, so if you could just tell Brady I said good-bye, thank you.

Eve: Jennifer, wait. I want you to know how sorry I am about Abigail.

Jennifer: Thank you.

Eve: I know-- I know all too well what you're going through and how unbearable it can be... and I also know that sometimes it helps if you talk to somebody who's, you know, going though the same suffering that you are, so if you ever feel like... well, if you ever wanna talk to anyone, just know that I'd be available to you.

Jennifer: That's very kind. I hope that you find happiness one day, eve.

Eve: You too, Jennifer. You too.

Nicole: I don't understand. You're okay with Deimos?

Daniel: Yeah, of course. And don't look at me like that. You knew I would be.

Nicole: No, I didn't know that.

Daniel: Listen to me. Just because you found love doesn't mean our love will just somehow disappear. I know you'll always love me. But I can't be there anymore. Not when you're stressed out, or you need a shoulder, or another opinion... or just someone to hold you in his arms. All I want... is for you to happy. And you can't do that if you don't let go and just...live. You live and you love. Okay?

Nicole: So... with Deimos.

Daniel: If you found it, you go for it. And remember, I will always be there with you, one way or another. Okay, one way... or another. I am with you.

[Tense music]

Deimos: Hey! Look at me! Philip. I heard you, so don't you even try to lie.

Philip: Try to lie...

Deimos: I heard you talking to Chloe's mother-- Nancy.

Philip: Yeah, Nancy...

Deimos: Right. What did you tell her?

Philip: I... I don't know...

Deimos: No, no, no, no, no. You do, Philip. You told her that it was important that Nicole never find out the secret.

Philip: Oh, yeah.

Deimos: Oh, yeah. So you starting to get the picture now, Philip? You more than anyone know from personal experience with me that I mean business.

Philip: It's hard for me to think. [Groans]

Deimos: Really? Well, I'm not getting any pleasure out of this, so why don't we get it over with quickly, shall we? Just tell me what it is that I want to know.

Philip: I... I don't have...

Deimos: All right. Where were you going when you left the house?

Philip: I was... gonna meet Chloe.

Deimos: Very good. And?

Philip: What?

Deimos: [Sighs] Why were you going to meet Chloe? Were you gonna tell her something? Something very important. Something about the secret. About Nicole.

Philip: I was gonna tell her... we were meant for each other. First love... way back...

Deimos: Oh, my-- what the hell?

Philip: High school...

Deimos: [Sighs]

Philip: Chloe needs me...

Deimos: Yes. Yes. She needs you, Philip. That's right. The poor girl is pregnant, she's all alone. And you wanna ride to her rescue, is that it? Well, that's fine with me, but you're gonna tell me what I wanna hear first. Hey! Philip! Look at me! No more lies! Do you hear me? Whatever it is that you know about Nicole, whatever this secret is, you're gonna tell me. And you're gonna tell me now.

Jennifer: Oh, this is great news. This has to be front page.

Chad: Okay, well, maybe you should talk to Justin first. You know, sometimes when things show up in the press first...

Jennifer: You're right. That's a good point. But I'm sure this is something he's gonna wanna really hit hard during the appeal, you know? So we'll send someone over to take your statement and then we'll just hold on to it until Justin says it's okay.

Chad: Okay, good.

Jennifer: I mean, it's still so strange that Stefano was really dying and then wanted someone to end it for him.... I'm sorry. That's your father, and... it hurts.

Chad: No, it's fine. It's fine, honestly, I don't know how to feel. At first, I thought he was a victim, and now I find out that maybe he manipulated the whole thing. I mean, honestly, it's like every single time I think my life is about to get back on track, something comes up, and just knocks me right--

Jennifer: Oh, yeah. I get exactly how you feel.

Chad: Maybe things just affect me more now. My life's always been complicated, but... now I've ever-- God, seems like nothing goes right lately, ever since that plane went down and I found out that Abby was gonna be gone forever.

Nicole: Eve? Hey! What a surprise.

Eve: Nicole!

Nicole: How are you? Come here!

Eve: Good! I am good. My school is on winter break so I thought I would come here and see if I could help any way with Tate.

Nicole: Oh, that's really good of you.

Brady: Listen, I'm gonna get him a snack. It's his snack time, so you two catch up. All right?

Nicole: All right, see ya.

Eve: Later.

Nicole: How are you doing? Really.

Eve: I'm coping. You?

Nicole: Same. Come on in. Please.

Eve: So what's going on?

Nicole: That's what I want to know. You're close with Theresa, right? Did you know she was back on drugs or planning to walk away from her family?

Philip: Chloe... wanna help...her.

Deimos: Okay, all right, fine. Look, why don't we start with that, all right? Work with me, Philip. The sooner we get this over with, the sooner you can be with Chloe. That's what you want, isn't it?

Philip: Wanna be... Chloe.

Deimos: Right, okay, great. Great, cooperate. So what is it? What is this secret? Tell me. Chloe's hiding something and you know what it is. Tell me and you can go be with Chloe. You can hold her in your arms, you can tell her you love her, whatever you want.

Philip: Embryo...

Roman: [Sighs] I hope Hattie doesn't get her hopes too high. Just not a hell of a lot to go on here.

Hope: A lot of time has passed.

Roman: Yeah. And if he was just using her, odds are Alfonso Clarizo isn't his real name.

Hope: You'll keep trying?

Roman: Course I will.

Hope: Thank you. Case you didn't notice, Hattie...sort of has a thing for you, Mr. Roman.

Roman: Really?

Hope: Mm.

Roman: Must have missed that. Somehow.

Hope: Right.

Roman: We'll talk later.

Hope: Bye.

Eve: I had no idea that Theresa was about to go off the rails. I mean, not a word, and I practically had to force daddy to tell me what happened.

Nicole: So what did happen? Brady doesn't want to talk about it.

Eve: Well, apparently she slipped and went back on drugs. Figured that family life wasn't for her anymore, and just took off.

Nicole: My God. We were business partners. I thought I knew her. I thought she was happy.

Eve: I know, Nicole. So did I. Drugs, I guess, you know? I'm not surprise that she went back to her old ways, because when it comes to drugs, people have a hard time walking away from that stuff. You know?

Nicole: I guess.

Eve: But Tate, he needs his father and he needs a mother. A mother figure, anyway. So that's why I came back.

Nicole: Well, I'm sure Brady appreciates the help.

Eve: I hope so. My life has been, you know... it's been empty since Paige, and then sometimes being alone in new York is just...it's hard. It's awful. It's hell. I still... miss Paige so much.

Nicole: I know. Oh, my God. I know exactly how you feel.

Brady: Boy, are you gonna have a long, long list for Santa this year, huh? You have been such a good boy. Best boy.

[Tate fusses]

Brady: I know you miss your mom. I know you do. Well, who she used to be. I miss her too, buddy. But you and I, hey, we're gonna be okay, right?

[Tate fusses]

Brady: Yeah.

[Cell phone vibrates]

Brady: Hello? He did what?

Deimos: Embryo? What does that mean? What does that have to do with Nicole? Hey, hey. Philip, look at me! Look at me. I'm right here. What do you mean, embryo?

Philip: Embryo?

Deimos: Oh, for the love of Mary. You know what? I'm gonna up the dosage. 1 cc didn't do the trick. Maybe 2 will.

Philip: Embryo!

Deimos: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Embryo, I heard you. I heard you. Means absolutely nothing to me. Unless you tell me how an embryo has anything to-- wait a minute.

Chad: I didn't mean to bring up Abby like that.

Jennifer: No. It's perfectly fine that you bring up Abby. I think you should talk about her. I think you should... think about her all the time. That's what I do. Talk about her, think about her. She's in my heart. Listen, if you ever want someone just to talk to about it, you can come to me.

Chad: Thank you.

Jennifer: And I want you to know that I really believe that things are gonna get better. Just hang on.

Chad: Okay, it's okay. I'm not--I know. I know things are gonna get better. Hey, and I'm not gonna forget about Abby ever. I just, you know, right now, I have to-- I have to focus on Thomas, okay? Um, oh, uh...before I forget, the memorial that father Louis mentioned, I'm gonna go ahead and I'm gonna go forward with it.

Jennifer: Oh.

Chad: Yeah, just so Thomas has something that he can, you know, connect with his mother when he's older.

Jennifer: Right, um, I don't think it's something you have to rush into, though. I think you should take your time till you can really decide the right way to do that.

Chad: No, yeah, I have. It's gonna be great. It's gonna be just like the one the town did for your grandparents.

Hope: You're sure? Harold wouldn't be making any of this up, right?

Rafe: No, he told Chad that he would testify. I'm telling you, this could be your ticket out of here.

Hope: I hope so.

Rafe: Yeah.

Hope: But I've seen judges pass on new evidence before.

Rafe: No, no, no, no, no. Hope, that is not gonna happen. This backs up exactly what you said, that Stefano kept pushing you and pushing you till he finally got what he wanted.

Hope: With an added bonus. I ended up in prison.

Rafe: Okay, yeah, for now. But the bottom line is Justin thinks this is gonna carry a lot of weight with this appeal. You could be out of here sooner than you think.

Deimos: Answer me! Is Chloe carrying Nicole's baby? Philip! Philip, look at me. Is Chloe carrying Nicole's baby, yes or no? Wake up, you bastard. You know, now tell me! Am I right? Chad: I, uh... what I said in court, hope, I'M... I'd like to try to make peace.

Brady: Deimos, what is that?

Deimos: All right. I'm sorry.

Brady: The hell's wrong with you?

Deimos: [Sighs] Got carried away, okay? Just needed some answers. And how the hell did you find me anyway?

Brady: Little birdie told me that you kidnapped your nephew, tied him up and drugged him? Are you kidding me? Are you insane?

Deimos: I said I'm sorry.

Brady: Sorry, understand that you're sorry. Can't imagine what he knows to make you do something like this. You're put in a prominent family position, our family. Is this how you conduct business?

Deimos: Okay, fine, fine. I know it looks bad.

Brady: You think it looks bad?

Deimos: Back in here. Look, I needed to get some answers and I needed them quickly. That only he could give me. I wasn't gonna sit around waiting for him to share.

Brady: I can't imagine what he knows to warrant something like this.

Deimos: Look, it's not as bad as it looks. All right? The drug will wear off in a few hours. There's no side effects whatsoever.

Brady: Okay, doctor. Is he even conscious?

Philip: Even conscious...

Brady: Philip, hey, hey, hey. Philip? Philip, it's Brady. You're gonna be okay. You're gonna be all right.

Philip: Okay, all right.

Brady: Completely out of it.

Deimos: Just take him in the other room, all right? Make him comfortable. When he comes to, make sure he has something to drink. If he wants to leave, let him get the hell out of here.

Brady: Well, now that you're sorry and that he's taken care of, do you wanna tell me what you were questioning him about? Couldn't help but overhear something about Chloe and Nicole. You tell me what's going on.

Hope: I don't hold what you said about me in court against you.

Chad: Even if I asked the judge to throw the book at you?

Hope: I killed your father.

Chad: Yeah, but now it looks like he tricked you into doing it.

Hope: But I still did it.

Chad: Hope, I want you to know that I'm not angry. And I hate seeing you punished.

Deimos: Doesn't matter what I was questioning him about. It's personal.

Brady: Well, since Chloe was my ex-wife and Nicole's one of my best friends in the world, it's personal to me too.

Deimos: Whatever you think you heard, Brady, you were mistaken. I never mentioned their names.

Brady: You got a lot of nerve lying to me. Right to my face after what you pulled with Philip. I don't know, maybe it's time. Maybe it's time we bring victor out of retirement and let him know what's going on here. You know, he trusted you to lead this family, Deimos, in a way that he wanted it to be lead, not like a petty tyrant with a private goon squad. So you make up your mind right now. Do I call Victor? Do we make this a big deal, a family meeting has to be called, or do you just level with me right now and keep it right here?

Deimos: All right. Okay, fine. I overheard Philip talking to Chloe's mother about a secret that they were keeping from Nicole.

Brady: Which is?

Deimos: I believe Chloe is carrying Daniel and Nicole's baby.
