Abigail: Mom. Mom are you--

Jennifer: Yeah, I'm good. I just... this is... you're here. [Laughs] It's not--it's not my dream. You're really here.

Abigail: Yeah. Yeah, I am. Are you sure JJ's not gonna come walking in here or anything?

Jennifer: No. No, he works late tonight. He won't be back till 8:00 or 9:00.

Abigail: Okay. Okay, good. I just... I'm starting to get a little bit claustrophobic hiding up in the attic.

Jennifer: No, you're good. We can just relax, and we have lots of time.

Abigail: I know, but I still feel kind of guilty that you're missing Lucas and Adrienne's wedding.

Jennifer: Oh, no. Honey, they will completely understand, especially when I tell them the reason why.

Abigail: No. Mom. No, they cannot find out that I'm alive.

Andre: You know the problem with our Japanese investors? They want to know every bloody detail. What is the size of the ship? Right to the damn centimeter, no less. You know, I was trying to point out-- Chad. Chad?

Chad: Sorry, what?

Andre: Are you all right? Is there--do you have a problem with the deal?

Chad: None of your business. What--nothing. It's personal.

Andre: Okay, so... [Clears throat] Let me put it this way: Is it true?

Chad: I--[Clears throat] I don't know. I may have feelings for... but she just broke up with JJ, so...

Andre: [Sighs] You don't want to take advantage of her vulnerability.

Chad: Right? Exactly. And I'm mourning still. I'm supposed to be mourning. I mean, I'm not ready to... move on. Right?

Andre: Hmm.

Dario: Coffee?

Gabi: Yes.

Dario: Has JJ come sniffing around, begging for your forgiveness?

Gabi: No, Dario, and would you please stop making threats about beating him to a pulp? Just let it go, okay? It's not worth it.

Dario: Sounds like you're getting him out of your system.

Gabi: [Sighs] I don't know. Yes. No. [Exhales] I just--I feel like I could still scream, I'm so angry, but... Dario, I have to tell you something. I'm really messed up.

Dario: Why, what's up?

Gabi: I don't know. Things have just kind of changed between Chad and me.

Dario: He's your boss.

Gabi: And my friend.

Dario: Are you guys more than friends?

Gabi: Well, there have been times where-- I don't know, that seems to be...

Dario: Okay, Gabi... is that what you want?

Gabi: I don't know. I don't know. I'm not over JJ, but you said it: Chad's my boss. I don't understand. It's just--everything is so complicated. I don't know what to do, Dario.

[Orchestra music playing]

Justin: Adrienne! Don't do this.

[Soft dramatic music]

I can't let you do this, so please just stop.

Lucas: What the hell's the matter with you, Justin?

Justin: Nothing. Nothing's the matter with me, but please, Adrienne, just don't get married tonight. [Softly] Please.

Adrienne: What are you doing?

Justin: I don't know. I don't know what I'm doing. I just--it just hit me that I can't let you go through with this, not without telling you that... I'm still in love with you.

[Dramatic music]

Lucas: I don't know if you're drunk or high or what. Who cares? Get out of here right now!

Justin: Adrienne, please, just hear what I have to say.

Lucas: I said leave her alone!

Justin: I just need to tell you something, please.

Adrienne: No! No! Justin, this is ridiculous. If you have things to tell me, put 'em in a letter and mail it to Maui where I'll be on my honeymoon.

Justin: It'll only take a minute! Adrienne, if I ever meant anything at all to you, you will give me this moment. Please. Please.

Adrienne: Fine.

Lucas: What?

Adrienne: Whatever it takes to end this idiocy. Talk. And then... we'll get on with our wedding. This is absolutely absurd. What could you possibly have to tell me that would make me change my mind?

Dario: I'm not one for giving people advice, but... don't even think about getting back with that cop.

Gabi: Oh, so in other words, you're gonna give me advice anyway.

Dario: Yeah, and while I'm at it, stay the hell away from Chad too.

Gabi: Why?

Dario: Listen, it's bad enough you're working for a DiMera. Don't let things get past that. That's a huge mistake.

Gabi: Dario, you're saying this because of a business arrangement?

Dario: Listen, sis, this is important, okay? If you want your family to have a new life, if you want your father to succeed, I'm sorry, you got to make a choice. Your family or Chad DiMera. What's it gonna be?

Gabi: Guess I know what I have to do.

Andre: [Exhales] Chad, Chad, Chad. You're still in mourning. This is not the time to look for somebody else. Abigail's body's barely cold--

Chad: What--why the hell would you say something like that? That's--why come over here and you're gonna make me feel disloyal to my dead wife? That's real great.

Andre: Now, that's just it. You're not. Your heart is still with Abigail. All those loving memories. Now's not the time to look for someone else, especially Gabrielle Hernandez.

Chad: What is that supposed to mean?

Andre: Well, didn't she put new meaning in the word "stalk" and take it to new heights?

Chad: That was a long time ago, and we've both changed a lot since then. Thank you very much.

Andre: Yeah, you're right, I suppose. [Exhales] I don't know why I'm so cynical. Probably just my life experiences. Anyway, Gabrielle is on the rebound, as are you. Listen, it's not for me to tell you how to feel and how to behave, but I think, right now, you should be concentrating on Thomas and rebuilding your business.

Chad: Gabi's a part of that business, so...

Andre: Oh... maybe she shouldn't be.

Jennifer: I still don't understand why you don't want people to know that you're back. They would be so thrilled, honey.

Abigail: No, I can't do it.

Jennifer: Really, they would just not even-- please don't tell me that you're thinking about leaving again.

Abigail: It may be the only real option.

Jennifer: No. No, I will not let you do that. I will not let you leave again. I understand why you left before, but, honey, you're well now, and people want to know that we didn't really lose you.

Abigail: Mom, I have to be realistic. I mean, I can't just hide in the attic forever. Come on. I mean... and for me to just come out and tell people--look. It's really hard for me to have to say this to you... but when I escaped from shady hills, mom... I never intended to come back here. Ever. I mean, crazy or not crazy or whatever it was, I wasn't about to live the rest of my life locked in some mental institution.

Jennifer: You're not crazy. Please don't say that, honey.

Abigail: You know, and I also--I wasn't gonna let Chad deal with a wife who lives in a psych ward. Coming for sad Sunday visits. And Thomas? Having Thomas looking at me like I'm some once-a-week stranger? I mean, I can't even imagine. I mean, I remember how hard it was for you when grandma Laura was institutionalized.

Jennifer: It's not like that nowadays.

Abigail: Maybe. Okay, maybe you're right, but all that I can remember is laying in a bed and hearing a bunch of doctors say about me that I--say that I'm a danger. I was a danger to myself, a danger to others. What in the world--what if I had hurt Thomas?

Jennifer: No, that never would have happened.

Abigail: I don't know, mom. I don't. I mean, the drugs that they had me on... I'm fine now, but still. I never would have come back here. I never would have dared to come to Salem if I hadn't heard that jj'd been shot.

Jennifer: Which is so strange to me. How did you even hear about that?

Abigail: I mean, there's-- there are ways of keeping tabs on anything, anywhere. Newspapers are all online now, so... [Sighs] You know, when I found out, I had to come.

Jennifer: You know what? I'm just gonna say it. I think that there is another reason deep down.

Abigail: What?

Jennifer: You knew giving up your life here was a terrible mistake.

Justin: Please, everyone, could we just have some privacy?

Lucas: [Softly] Oh, come on.

Louis: Absolutely. Fine by me. Someone can come and get me if they need any, uh... spiritual counsel.

Lucas: You think I'm gonna leave you alone with my fiancée so you could say god knows what, you better think again, man.

Sonny: Dad, if Lucas is staying, I'm staying too. I can kind of referee, I guess.

Kate: Oh, really? Well, I'm not going to abandon my son with his so-called bride.

Lucas: You could stay; just don't say anything, all right?

Kate: Okay, well, Philip stays too.

Lucas: Fine.

Justin: Oh, for god's sake. Is anybody going to leave?

Steve: We are.

Kayla: Yeah.

Steve: Come on, sweetness.

Kayla: Yeah, that's a good idea.

Steve: I think my sister needs to work this out on her own. We'll be right out here.

Lucas: Well, you're on, pal. Make it quick. Come on.

Justin: Adrienne, I love you. I always have. I always will. I think, if you're honest with yourself, you'll admit that you feel the same way.

Lucas: Don't tell her how she feels. She's your ex for a reason.

Sonny: Lucas, could we just let 'em just talk real quick?

Lucas: You know what?

Justin: I can see it in your eyes. You do feel the same way. From the first time I saw you on that park bench crying, I knew that you were the one for me. The only one. I know I've screwed up... but if I can, if you'll let me, I want to fix it. Will you give me that chance? One last chance?

[Soft music]

Jennifer: Honey, once you were off all of those drugs that they were giving you, I just believe that you could see clearly, and you realized that this is where you belong. You belong here with your family, with your husband and your son.

Abigail: I mean, it's not like that didn't cross my mind.

Jennifer: Yeah.

Abigail: I mean, the second that I got those drugs out of my system that they put me on in shady hills and I was put on antidepressants the way I should have been, things cleared up right away. And yeah, mom, you're right. I did want my old life back, but I--

Jennifer: But what? No, baby. There is nothing stopping you. Do you have any idea how happy your brother would be to see you? And your husband, my god. Your husband was so devastated, honey. He was drinking so much, I almost had to take him to court over Thomas. Can you even imagine how ecstatic he would be to know that you're alive? Not to mention that you're perfectly well.

Abigail: I'm still kind of fragile, mom, and, I mean, the thing is, while I was gone, life moved on without me, and I... I can't just come barging back in here expecting and demanding that everything goes back to the way it was because that's not fair. And especially since Chad is...

Jennifer: Chad is what?

Abigail: He moved on, mom. He's... he's with Gabi now.

Gabi: [Clears throat]

Chad: So thanks for coming over.

Gabi: Yeah, no problem. I was actually gonna call you when you were texting me 'cause I wanted to tell you something.

Chad: Yeah, you know, I just got to tell you something important.

Gabi: Oh, yeah, then go ahead, you talk.

Chad: No, you know what? You go ahead. Ladies first.

Gabi: No, mine can wait. It's okay.

Chad: No, seriously. You go ahead.

Gabi: Okay, well, I just want to say I want to quit.

Chad: I got to let you go.

Both: What did you just say?

Kayla: Joey, what's going on with you?

Joey: [Sighs]

Steve: Joe, tell your mom.

Joey: [Exhales] I'm gonna be a father.

Justin: We have a lifetime of memories together.

Lucas: Yeah, and half of those memories have been painful as hell for her. How many times have you and Adrienne been divorced? Three or four? I know you think I can't hang with the Kiriakis bank account. We're not in Greece right now. I don't have a guitar in my hand making some sappy serenade, and we're not taking a yacht trip later at all. But you know what? None of that matters to Adrienne anymore because she's changed. We have more in common than you think. We enjoy spending time together. Quiet time together. That's what matters to us. You think you can just scream in here on your white horse and change everything at the last minute? What's the matter with you, man? Where you been? Where were you when Adrienne had her cancer scare? Where were you when your son was stabbed? I'll tell you where I was. I was by her side, holding her hand, helping her through the whole thing while you were in Dubai hitting the sheets with your ever-loving Elsa. It doesn't matter what we do. We spend great time together. We laugh. We joke. We spend all night just talking. We have more in common than you might want to admit, Justin.

Philip: Looks like you're gonna lose that bet after all. My money, please?

Lucas: You know, Adrienne told me she just can't be herself around you. Did you know that? I mean, how could she be?

Justin: You said that?

Lucas: That's the truth. You spent your whole life trying to be the big shot. Trying to be Mr. Kiriakis with all the money. But you know what? None of that matters to her anymore. And that's not the only reason why she's ready to move on. She knows I'll never cheat on her. I'll never disrespect her like that. I'll treat her the way she deserves to be treated. So you know what? We're done with you right now. You can leave. Adrienne, are you ready? Are you ready to get this wedding back on track?

[Soft dramatic music]

Blanca: [Clears throat]

Dario: Thank you for coming. I wasn't sure you would. It's obvious you're still upset about the stuff you heard me say to my sister.

Blanca: Dario, the only reason I agreed to meet you for a drink is because I'm seriously thinking on throwing it in your face.

Dario: Blanca, come on. Come on.

Blanca: Hey, hey, remember, I've been there, done that. Guillermo? A liar. Dario? The same.

Dario: It's not true.

Blanca: Hey, I really don't want to argue. This will be our good-bye drink.

Dario: Blanca, don't be like that.

Blanca: Cook county medical offered me a job. I'm leaving to Chicago tonight.

Dario: What? No, no, no, wait a minute.

Blanca: Yes, yes. Hey, I couldn't be any happier. You know why? Because I can't have a relationship with another liar.

Dario: Okay, Blanca, if you're upset with me, I get it, but don't leave town. You said you liked it here.

Blanca: Yes. I like it very much... but I'm also very attracted to you. Very much. And I know myself well enough to know that I might give in.

[Tender music]

Jennifer: Honey... I don't know how you got that in your head, but don't believe that, really. Gabi works for Chad. They're not an item. [Chuckles]

Abigail: Mom, I saw them. I mean, I was in the square and I was off in the shadows, and the next thing I know, here come Chad and Gabi, and he had bought her flowers and they were laughing, and they were all smiles, and they were totally into each other.

Jennifer: What?

Abigail: Yeah, and that's what I'm saying. So when I found that JJ and Gabi had broke up, suddenly it didn't really--it made a little bit more sense. I mean, those two, they've got a lot of history, and it goes way back.

Jennifer: No...

Abigail: It wouldn't have taken that much for them to get the ball rolling again.

Jennifer: No, honey, listen to me. You are so wrong. Really, Gabi and JJ, they just broke up. She was devastated by what he did. And Chad? Even though he thinks that you are gone forever, he still talks about how much he loves you and how wonderful you were. Please don't do this to yourself.

Abigail: Mom...

Jennifer: Honey.

Abigail: I saw what I saw. I saw Chad and I saw Gabi, and they were going somewhere, and they were laughing and they were wanting to touch and they were totally into each other. All smiles and--

Jennifer: No, you are wron-- I am telling you right now, you are wrong. Chad loves you and he misses you and he is so lost without you.

Gabi: Hold on. You're firing me?

Chad: Oh, so you're just gonna walk in here and quit?

Gabi: Why would you fire me?

Chad: Why would you quit?

Gabi: I've done a terrific job, Chad.

Chad: What did I do?

Gabi: What are you talking about? I don't know who you think you are, but... [Laughs]

Chad: This is weird.

Gabi: Yeah, I don't know what's going on.

Chad: This is why I was gonna let you go. 'Cause it's getting weird now.

Gabi: Yeah, the you and me thing's weird.

Chad: Right.

Gabi: Right. (Man) my dad and I have the same eyes.

[Tender music]

Blanca: [Exhales] You're good. You're very good. I'll give you that.

Dario: Don't fight it.

Blanca: Hey. Did you listen to me? I've been there. I've done that.

Dario: I am not some traficante Como Guillermo.

Blanca: Okay, okay, I get it. Maybe you're not a drug dealer, but you are playing some kind of game at the docks, and I'm not sticking around to watch my life go bad.

Dario: Blanca, Blanca--

Blanca: No. No, Dario. No. [Sighs] Please tell Gabi and Rafe I say bye, okay?

[Soft dramatic music]

Joey: The weird thing is, I had decided I didn't want to be with her anymore. I told you about that, dad. It just didn't feel right.

Kayla: Why on earth did you sleep with her?

Joey: I don't know. It just--it just... it just happened. I tried ignoring her, but that didn't work, so I was going to tell her in person that I didn't want to be with her anymore.

Kayla: And then she told you that she was pregnant? And that's awfully convenient, isn't it?

Steve: Hey, listen, listen. Why don't we get out of here? We'll go to the pub and talk this through.

Joey: What's the point in talking? There's nothing I can do.

Steve: We can try. Come on. I'll wait out here.

Kayla: [Exhales sharply]

Joey: I'm sorry.

Lucas: Adrienne, all we have to do is call father Louis back, and we can pick up where we left off. Adrienne?

Kate: Oh, for god's sakes. I knew this would happen. I knew she would break your heart.

Lucas: Mom, stop it.

Kate: She always goes back to that womanizer.

Lucas: Enough.

Sonny: Whoa, Kate, hey, hey. I'm gonna give you a break out of respect for will, but just shut it down.

Philip: Oh, come on, sonny. Even you've got to see how ridiculous this is.

Lucas: You know what, you guys? This is none of your business. Just stay out of it.

Justin: Take a deep breath, okay? Let Adrienne have a moment to--

[All talking at once]

Adrienne: Stop! Stop, please! I can't think. [Crying] [Exhales] Justin, you're... you're right. I do still love you. But the reality is, Lucas... I love you too.

Kate: [Scoffs] Do you love him with your whole heart?

Philip: Mom.

Kate: This isn't a two-for-one sale. Make up your damn mind, Adrienne!

Adrienne: [Crying]

Chad: You know, you've been amazing with, um... all the consulting stuff-- clothing, pr, helping me with Vicky and brad bush. It's the job part, well, the "us" part, I guess, because it's not-- I don't think it's employer-employee anymore.

Gabi: Right. Yeah, I guess you're right.

Chad: And then, you know, and then there's... the Vicky kiss, but then there was, like, the almost real...kiss.

Gabi: [Quietly] Yeah.

Chad: And I'm not ready yet, I don't think.

Gabi: Mm-mm.

Chad: And neither are you?

Gabi: No, no, which is why I came here to quit tonight and why you decided to fire me.

Chad: I didn't want to, though, 'cause you're so amazing, but it's getting we-- I didn't want it to get weird or uncomfortable.

Gabi: Right. We're just not ready to be involved with anyone yet. You're still grieving.

Chad: Yeah, and you just broke up with JJ.

Gabi: Yeah, so it's settled. We will not be working together anymore.

Abigail: No, Mom... [Scoffs] I love you, but you are being way too optimistic. I mean, can you imagine if I walked--okay, yeah, I walked up to the mansion. I ring the doorbell. I say, "hi, Chad. Hey." You know what he would be? Furious. And why wouldn't he be? I completely abandoned him, abandoned Thomas, made him believe a complete lie. I put him through so much pai-- oh, my god. Mom, I can't believe you and JJ had to go through that.

Jennifer: Please, you have to look at me--stop it. Look at me. Look at me right now.

Abigail: I mean, come on, you fainted.

Jennifer: Look at me. You're alive. That washes everything away. Everything. And Chad would feel the same way.

Abigail: [Sighs] I don't know, mom. I saw him with Gabi, and it was pretty clear.

Jennifer: Mm-mm. Or you misjudged what you saw.

Abigail: You've seen it too, haven't you? I mean, it's okay. I can kind of tell by the way you're trying to word things.

Jennifer: No, I don't-- I don't know if there's anything going on with Chad and Gabi. But what I do know is that Chad loves you, and he's never gonna stop loving you, and he needs you. And your son, Thomas... he needs his mother.

Abigail: [Sighs]

Kayla: [Clears throat]

Steve: There you go.

Kayla: [Sighs] So... has jade said whether or not she's gonna keep the baby?

Joey: She is.

Kayla: Wow, very convenient.

Steve: Yeah. You tell her you're breaking up with her, and all of a sudden, she's pregnant?

Kayla: How do you know that she's not lying? I mean, maybe this is just some big manipulation, Joey.

Joey: She said she'd take a test if I wanted her to.

Kayla: You're damn right she's going to take a test.

Steve: Okay. Let's say she is pregnant. Are you sure it's yours?

Joey: Yeah, I mean, she hasn't been seeing anyone else. Times out about right, so... [Sighs]

Steve: Has she told her parents?

Joey: Yeah. They kicked her out of the house.

Kayla: Again. This just gets better and better.

Joey: She's been crashing on her friend's couch. She doesn't even know how much longer she can stay there.

[Cell phone ringing]

Steve: You gonna get that?

Joey: [Sighs] It's jade.

Steve: You got to talk to her.

[Ringing continues]

Kayla: [Softly] Oh, my god. How is Joey gonna be a parent? He is just a kid himself. He's not ready for this. Neither are we.

Lucas: Where the hell you think you're going?

Justin: To find Adrienne.

Lucas: Why do you think she left? She wanted to get away from you.

Justin: You don't have a clue what she wants!

Lucas: I said hold it.

Justin: Ah, get your hand off of me.

Lucas: Fine.

Justin: [Groans]

Lucas: Leave her alone!

Justin: You son of a bitch.

Sonny: Dad, no, no, dad!

[All shouting]

Philip: Settle down! Come on!

Lucas: You think you can just come in here and wreck my life?

Justin: Oh, I don't give a damn about your life! I care about Adrienne!

Lucas: You don't care about nothing but yourself!

Sonny: Dad! Dad! Come on. Let's go. Let's go.

Justin: Fine!

Sonny: [Exhales sharply] [Softly] I'm sorry.

Lucas: Don't let him go after your mother. She needs time alone to herself.

Kate: [Scoffs] [Softly] God.

Lucas: [Sighs]

Philip: [Exhales]

Kate: I am so sorry this had to happen to you, but, honey, I do believe that it's for the best.

Lucas: No, no, you were right, mom. You're always right. Break out the champagne and celebrate. Go ahead.

Philip: I'm sorry, man.

Lucas: [Sighs] No, it's all right. You guys, just leave. Okay, just go, both of you. Go.

[Soft dramatic music]

[Crying]

Kayla: Can I have that? [Exhales]

Steve: So what's going on with jade?

Joey: Well, she wants ginger ale and rocky road ice cream.

Kayla: Oh, well, I'm sure your grandmother has that here.

Steve: Joe... are you really set on this? You think you're ready to be a father?

Joey: I don't have a choice, do I? I just have to man up. Find a way to take care of jade and the baby.

Kayla: How you gonna do that, Joey?

Joey: [Sighs] Drop out of school, I guess. Get a job. No more playing teenager. Time to be an adult, right? I have no one to blame but myself.

Adrienne: [Sobbing] Oh, god. I'm an awful person.

Sonny: No, you're not.

Adrienne: Yes, I am.

Sonny: No, you're not.

Adrienne: Yes! I am! I just broke Lucas' heart. And as for your father, what is wrong with him? Why did he wait so long?

Sonny: I don't know. Okay? But there's no sense in looking back. There's not. We just need to figure out what you're gonna do now.

Adrienne: Oh, god, I wish I knew. I wish I knew. [Sobbing continues]

Sonny: [Softly] It's okay. It's okay.

[Soft dramatic music]

Andre: Laura, I'm just asking a simple question. Has Abigail been back to your place or not? No, no, no, no, don't do anything. I have a way of tracking her down. [Mouthing words] But you will let me know if she comes back or not, yes? Right. Ah, Abigail's in hiding. Just perfect. [Sighs] That way... I'm the one who's going to bring her back to Chad. Yes. [Laughs]

Abigail: Thomas is... [Chuckles] He's so different now.

Jennifer: He's grown a lot, huh?

Abigail: Yeah.

Jennifer: You saw him in the square?

Abigail: Yeah. But after that, I went to the house, and... I waited till Chad stepped out and then I went into the study and he was just there in the crib.

Jennifer: [Softly] Yeah. And you just got to stare at him, huh? Wasn't that the most wonderful feeling, honey? After all this time?

Abigail: [Sighs] Gosh, I can't believe he's almost a year old.

[Both laugh]

Abigail: It's like he's a different baby. You know, I was really worried that he wasn't gonna know who I was, but I think... yeah... I think he does.

Jennifer: I know you're scared. I know there are a lot of things that happened before you got well, things that you're gonna have to talk about and you're gonna have to deal with, baby.

Abigail: [Sighs] Like the fire at shady hills? [Chuckles] The plane? Fake id when the plane went down? Not to mention the fact that I did abandon both my husband and my son, mom.

Jennifer: You're a good mom, and you're a good wife...

Abigail: [Crying softly]

Jennifer: And Thomas deserves his mother back, and so does Chad. Don't you hide anymore, baby. You take your life back.

Chad: I'm gonna give you... six months. We'll do six months with pay.

Gabi: What? Chad, no, come on. I don't want your charity.

Chad: What are you talking about? It's not charity. It's a severance. I talked you into leaving your last job, so it's only--

Gabi: No, I don't want you to feel bad for me either.

Chad: Why are you getting defensive about it?

Gabi: I'm not getting defensive.

Chad: I'm trying to make this as painless as possible.

Gabi: No, I don't want you to treat me like another employee, okay?
