Adrienne: Oh, honey. Thank you. That is so sweet of you to help out.

Sonny: I'm the best man. It's my job to help out. And the bride-to-be is my mom. Who I haven't seen this happy in a very long time.

Adrienne: Oh, I am. I really am. Lucas makes me so happy.

[Dramatic music]

Steve: So how's it feeling?

Joey: Hurts worse now than when I got it.

Steve: Hmm.

Joey: I swear the doctor had a smile on his face as he was zapping me.

Steve: Oh, come on.

Joey: There was a burning smell.

Steve: Ooh, don't tell me about the burning smell. The important thing is, scorpion branding is gone.

Joey: At least mom will be relieved.

Steve: Oh, yeah.

Joey: Jade'll be pretty bummed, though. She liked having matching symbols.

Steve: Speaking of jade, how are things going with you two now that she's back?

Joey: To be honest, not as good as I'd hoped.

André: Laura, I don't want to hear any excuses. Abigail is missing, and that's on you. The reason I brought you on is because I thought you could take good care of her. Obviously, you failed at that task. Just call me when you have good news.

[Knocking at door]

André: Oh. Detective Hernandez. What brings you to my door?

Rafe: Hope's requested to see you.

André: Well, I--

Rafe: Alone.

André: Well, I'm very busy right now.

Rafe: Look, I don't want her anywhere near you, but this is for her. See, she needs to fully understand the terms of your agreement before she goes in front of the judge.

André: I'm surprised that you know about the agreement.

Rafe: She tells me everything. So yes, I am fully aware that she's taking responsibility for the murder so there won't be any further exposure.

Hope: Thank you.

Marlena: Is there anything you need? Before the arraignment? Anything at all? Hope?

Hope: I'm sorry. Just so exhausted. I can't tell you how much it means that you came to visit me.

Marlena: Of course I did. So many people love you.

Hope: I've let so many people down. My family, my friends, myself--

Marlena: No.

Hope: I murdered Stefano, and I framed an innocent man. I went against everything-- everything I believe in.

Marlena: You listen to me. I know you. You're a strong woman. You'll get through this. Look at me! John and I are here. We will help you. We will see you through this. I promise.

Hope: Can't tell you how much that means to me. Thank you.

Marlena: Your lawyer is working on some psych evals for you and Stefano. I'm helping him with those. And your confession will not determine the outcome here. Your lawyer is gonna find a way to keep you out of prison.

Shane: [Sighs] There you are. Where were you last night? You--you went right off the grid.

Theresa: Yeah, I stayed at grandma Caroline's. I didn't tell Brady where I was, and now he's going crazy. He left me like 15 voice messages.

Shane: All part of your plan, right? Getting Brady to think you're out partying, so--hoping he's gonna push you away?

Theresa: Yes. Dad, this plan is killing me. Brady doesn't deserve this.

Shane: Well, you're right. He doesn't. And neither do you. So please, drop this plan of yours and tell him the truth.

Theresa: No, absolutely not. Okay, I will never put Brady or Tate in any kind of danger. Never.

[Phone beeping]

Theresa: [Sighs]

Shane: Is it Brady again?

Theresa: No. It's Mateo. He wants to meet. [Sighs]

Rafe: What are you smiling about now?

André: I just think it's absolutely heartwarming, the way you and hope show your devotion to each other. Covering up murders, framing innocent men. You know, I was just wondering how you're going to be able to demonstrate, in the near future, your affection towards each other when your dates are going to be confined to a prison visiting room. What? You haven't thought that far ahead?

Rafe: You know, it's no secret that your father was a menace to Salem for decades. Actually, "menace," that's-- that's way too kind of a word, now isn't it? He was actually a sadistic son of a bitch whose only goal in life was to make other people's lives miserable. Including hope.

André: Hope Brady viciously killed a man in a wheelchair, and then framed me for the murder. Yeah. She'll pay. You have my word. She will. .

Justin: Sorry to interrupt. I need to speak to my son. Titan business.

Sonny: Right. Yeah.

Adrienne: We were done anyway. Talk later?

Sonny: Definitely.

Adrienne: Okay, sweetie. Oh, I love you, baby.

Sonny: I love you too.

Adrienne: Take care, Justin.

Sonny: You're looking at me like I stole your puppy.

Justin: What?

Sonny: Dad, I know you're upset. You hate the fact that mom's marrying Lucas and that I'm standing up for him at the wedding.

Justin: I'm dealing with it.

Sonny: Yeah, you're "dealing with it"? You give mom the evil eye every time you run into her.

Justin: You're not there every time I run into her.

Sonny: I was just now. And you gave her the evil eye. I thought you two were gonna try to be civil.

Justin: I would like to be friends with your mother. But right now, things are a little tense. And it's really hard for me to root for this marriage to Lucas because--

Sonny: Because you don't want mom marrying Lucas.

Justin: I didn't say that.

Sonny: It's obvious. You can't be friends with mom because you're still in love with her.

Kate: Oh. Where are you headed?

André: Well, I'm off to have a tête-à-tête with hope. Detective Hernandez said she wants to have a meet with me. Alone.

Kate: Of course. Whatever hope wants, right?

André: Do I detect a sense of sarcasm in your tone?

Kate: I'm just disappointed in you, that's all.

André: Why? I would think you of all people would be proud of the fact that I've found some peace of mind in exposing my father's killer.

Kate: Well, I thought that you were finished with your petty revenge project.

André: Petty? Really? Vengeance makes the world go round.

Kate: Vengeance makes the earth a graveyard. Hmm? That's more accurate.

André: In case you've forgotten... hope killed my father.

Kate: In case you have forgotten, how many people did Stefano have killed?

André: That's irrelevant.

Kate: Only to people not in their right mind.

André: This is about family. Justice.

Kate: No, this is about vengeance, and it ties in perfectly with your previous motives.

André: Well, your wisdom and your insight is absolutely... amazing.

Kate: André. Listen to me. If you're sincere about wanting to improve your image and your status in Salem, then you need to be a bit more forgiving. Especially if you expect people to be forgiving with you.

[Dramatic music]

Brady: Theresa, it's me. Again. Listen, I'm--I'm worried. But I'm--I'm also mad because, not coming home last night, really? You have a son. I mean, you have a son here that needs you, and it's... it's not like you to not return calls and texts. So if you would just do me a favor, please, please just-- just call me, let me know that you're all right. I would appreciate it, because I'm pissed, but I love you.

[Suspenseful music]

[Phone beeps]

Theresa: [Gasps] [Sighs] You scared me.

Mateo: I didn't mean to.

Theresa: [Sighs] I...

Mateo: I brought you a gift. I remember how much you liked the dahlia flower when you were with me all those years ago. I hope you still do.

Theresa: [Deep breath]

Mateo: Put it on.

Theresa: I...um...

Mateo: Please. I'd love to see it on you.

Theresa: Later.

Mateo: Okay, but only if you promise me I'll see it around your neck when we leave Salem for Mexico city.

Theresa: Mateo, I... I don't understand. Why are you doing this? I mean, all of this for me?

Mateo: What's to understand? I love you. The time we spent together was the happiest of my life. I never should have let you walk away. The only woman I ever felt this way about, and the only one who ever walk away.

Theresa: Yeah, I get that it's about your pride, but--

Mateo: No, it's not about my pride. It's about love.

Theresa: Look, you can say that all you want, Mateo, but--

Because it's true.

Theresa: No, Mateo. If you really love me, you would let me go. Look, I have a fiancé now, okay? And I--I have a child. I have a little boy.

Mateo: We belong together.

Theresa: Mateo, please.

Mateo: I've tried, Theresa. I did everything I could to get you out of my system, but it was impossible. I thought about you day and night for years. I finally had to find you. And bring you home to where you belong.

Theresa: What about what I want?

Mateo: You want this. I know you do.

Theresa: No, I--

Mateo: You just can't admit it to yourself.

Theresa: Please--

Mateo: I have, though. And I've never been happier. Knowing love like this. Theresa, I've never gone to this kind of trouble for anyone before. That's how deeply you've gotten under my skin. Theresa. I'm gonna rule the world. A king needs a queen.

Theresa: [Gasps]

Mateo: No one ever says no to me. You shouldn't either.

Theresa: Please. I just-- I just need a little more time. Okay? Just to make a clean-- clean getaway. Please?

Mateo: Of course.

Theresa: Look, um-- look, I just, I need... I just need some more time to convince Brady that I don't love him. Okay? So--so he doesn't come after me when I'm in Mexico. Look, it's really important. You know, he-- he has enough resources to-- to be a problem for you.

Mateo: Fine. You need more time.

Theresa: Yes.

Mateo: I'll give you more time.

Theresa: Thank you. Before you go, um... look, I... I need something from you.

Steve: [Sighs] So. Tell me what's going on. You two have a fight?

Joey: No, no fight. We just... I don't know, maybe I'm just... not ready to commit? I mean, I'm too young to be tied down, right?

Steve: Oh, definitely. Yeah. You got plenty of time for that. So. Are you thinking about breaking it off?

Joey: Yeah, I am.

Steve: Can I give you some advice?

Joey: Please.

Steve: Just be straight with her. Tell her the truth. It might hurt her to hear it, but it's the only way to go. Shows you have respect.

Joey: Right.

Steve: Anyway. That's my two cents.

Joey: Thanks, dad. I really appreciate it.

Steve: I know I don't have the best, uh, track record when it comes to relationships. I mean... I wish I'd had myself more together when I was your age. Then maybe your mom and I might not have had so many problems.

Joey: But you guys are good now, right?

Steve: Yeah. We're good. Matter of fact, I have some big news.

Joey: Oh, yeah?

Steve: Your mom and I are engaged again.

Joey: What?

Steve: Yeah.

Joey: That's crazy.

Steve: Right?

Joey: I mean, amazing. Congrats. [Sighs] I'm so happy for you guys.

Steve: Thanks, buddy. That means a lot to me.

Joey: The way you and mom love each other, always find your way back to each other, that's the kind of love that I want.

Steve: Gonna have that someday, son. Have no doubt about it.

Justin: In love with her? Sonny, that's--

Sonny: Dad, you can deny it all you want.

Justin: You know, that's-- let's just not talk about this, okay? I came looking for you because I need to talk business, okay?

Sonny: Okay. Well, what's going on?

Justin: Okay. Eduardo Hernandez and Deimos made a deal to work together, but I don't like it.

Sonny: You--well what's-- what's wrong with the deal?

Justin: Well, without going into great detail, the official agreement is worrisome at best.

Sonny: How so? Course, I heard the rumors about Eduardo and his sketchy past, but he's cleaned up his act, right?

Justin: Mm, well, I'm a bit more cynical than you are. Deimos might not care what Eduardo is shipping in, but I do. So I need someone to keep an eye on the docks.

Sonny: Let me--let me guess: You--that someone is me?

Justin: Best man for the job.

Sonny: I wouldn't say that. I mean, you know my track record with the docks, right?

Justin: Here's your chance to turn it around. Maybe you can hire someone to monitor the situation. Just to keep an eye on Deimos, without letting him know. I really need you to work with me on this.

Sonny: Fine. I'll do it.

Justin: Excellent. I'll grab a couple coffees, and then, uh, we can start laying the groundwork.

[Dramatic music]

Marlena: Oh.

André: Oh, Marlena. How nice it is to see you. I assume you came to see hope?

Marlena: Yes, I did. Heard you might be stopping by. I'd hoped I'd be out of here before you arrived.

André: Well, fate had other ideas.

Marlena: You really are a despicable man. Exposing hope publicly the way that you did.

André: Well, it was all in the name of justice. Hope is a murderer. I thought the public had a right to know. And besides, I take this personally, being that my father was the victim here. And while we're on the topic of justice--doing the right thing, as you will-- I never did get that thank you. For saving your life, and Kayla's. Oh, well. Just seeing you alive and well, that's thank you enough for me.

Marlena: You're such a clever man. You figured out where Orpheus was. How did you do that?

André: As you said, I'm a clever man. Lovely to see you. You always put me in a good mood. Anyway, give my best to john. Can't see it. Can't taste it.

[Dramatic music]

Rafe: Listen, I know you're in a dark place right now, but you still have a chance. You do. Roman, Justin, and I, we are all fighting to get you out of here. You know that, don't you?

Hope: Rafe--

Rafe: We are--

Hope: It's not-- it's not just the murder charge. That's just the beginning. They're also coming after me for obstruction and falsifying evidence.

[Knocking on door]

André: Hello, hope. You don't seem very happy to see me.

Hope: What part gave it away?

André: Well, you're the one who called for this meeting.

Hope: I need an answer.

André: Well, I'll try to answer whatever I can. Whatever the question may be.

Hope: First, I want to thank you for keeping Rafe and roman out of this mess so far. Now, what'll it take to keep it that way? I need security. That you will never reveal their part in the cover-up of your father's murder.

André: You're astonishing. Here you are, incarcerated, and you're looking out for other people?

Hope: I don't want to play games.

André: Life is going very well for me. My father's killer is just steps away from being in prison for life. My brother Chad and I are making progress. Kate has become--well, she's decided to be the voice of my conscience. [Sighs] After all this time, I think I've finally found my footing. And after being a year in Salem's warm embrace. So what's the point of bringing down the police department? Why push for more when I've been blessed with so much? Oh. But remember: As long as you take legal responsibility for the murder, then Rafe and roman are off the hook.

Hope: Is there a catch?

André: No catch. Let's chalk it up to me not being greedy. And why should I be? I've got you exactly where I want you. Now, if I was to go after Rafe and roman too, well, then, you'd have more reason to change your plea. To many opportunities to muddy the water, and then I would risk the fact that none of you would pay for your crimes. So at least now I'm assured that you will be punished sufficiently.

Hope: I have your word.

André: It's taken me a long time to realize that my father's dead. And nothing's gonna bring him back this time. Well, at least you have confessed. You'll be pleading guilty. Even though you framed me for the murder and then had me sent to prison for months. But then, in retrospect... hmm... perhaps I had it coming. Anyway. Your punishment for taking a life will be up to the judge. So why don't we just leave it at that? Honey, aren't we having friends over? It reeks in here.

Sonny: Hey. What's up, guys?

Paul: Not much. Just recovering from Halloween.

Derrick: Crazy night, man.

Paul: Yeah. Hey, uh, derrick and I, we're gonna go grab breakfast. So...

Sonny: Oh, yeah. No. Go for it. No worries. I'm actually here with my dad. We're going over a little-- a little business. And Paul, make sure you try those crepes. They're delicious.

Paul: Thanks for the rec.

Derrick: Catch you later.

Sonny: All right. See you later.

[Dramatic music]

Brady: You sure this isn't a bad time?

Marlena: It's a perfect time. I don't have a patient. You sounded pretty stressed on the phone.

Brady: Yeah, it's--it's, uh, it's about Theresa. Think I'm--I think I'm losing my mind. 'Cause she's--she's been acting out of control. And it happened like that.

Marlena: Tell me.

Brady: Well, up until--until a couple days ago, everything was fine, right? We're in love, we're planning our future--everything's great. She goes out last night, and she literally just takes off. I try to contact her. No response. I tried multiple times. Nothing.

Marlena: Do you know where she went?

Brady: Yeah, she went out with, um... with her friend Anne. Which was strange, because she-- Anne is a part of her past. You know, the--the partying, and the--and the drinking, and everything that Theresa isn't now.

Marlena: Mm-hmm. Or maybe it's got something to do with the recent trauma.

Brady: Right. Tate being kidnapped, and Xander coming after her, and...

Marlena: Maybe that was more than she could cope with.

Brady: Right, so she's probably--she's probably just overwhelmed, right?

Marlena: Understandably.

Brady: So what do I do?

Marlena: Well... I would be gentle with her. I would be patient. She loves you so much. Give her some time, and I think she'll--she'll come around. She'll talk to you about what's going on. And you know, when that happens, maybe suggest A... well, a trip. Get away somewhere.

Brady: Vacation. A vacation. That's--oh, my God. That's a great idea. That is exactly what she needs.

[Dramatic music]

Theresa: [Sobbing]

Justin: Well, that covers just about everything Kiriakis. Any questions?

Sonny: Nope. I'm just really happy to be helping out the family.

Justin: Good.

Sonny: You heading out?

Justin: Yes. I have to consult with hope. Her arraignment is, uh-- comes up within the hour.

Sonny: Right. Yeah. Good luck. I know the whole town is pulling for her to beat this thing.

Justin: Yeah, definitely. So, let's check in later. Okay?

Sonny: Yeah. Talk to you soon.

Justin: See you, Sonny.

Paul: Mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm. They are delicious.

Derrick: I think I like yours better.

Paul: Oh, oh. Too bad. Too bad.

Derrick: No.

Paul: Mm! [Chuckles]

Derrick: That's mine.

Paul: You're a crepe thief. [Chuckles]

[Phone beeping] Mmm.

Derrick: Damn.

Paul: What's up?

Derrick: Work text from the hospital. I got to shoot 'em a call. Be right back.

Paul: Mm-hmm.

Sonny: So, you went with the crepes.

Paul: Oh, yeah. You were so right about these. They're amazing.

Sonny: They are. You know, I might have another great idea for you.

Paul: Oh, yeah?

Sonny: Mm-hmm. Oh, I--I want to hire you to work for me. Work with me.

Paul: Doing?

Sonny: Surveillance on the docks. All above board.

Paul: I mean, it sounds interesting. But, uh, I mean, do you think that's a good idea? Us working together?

Sonny: Yeah, I don't think-- I mean, why would it be a problem?

Paul: [Chuckles] Well, can I-- can I have a little time to think about it maybe?

Sonny: Of course. Yeah. Absolutely. I can send you over the details, and then we'll talk. Is that cool?

Paul: Sure. Thanks.

Sonny: All right. I'll see you. Enjoy.

Paul: [Chuckles]

Theresa: [Sobbing]

Brady: Theresa?

Theresa: Ah... [Deep breath] Ah... [Moans]

Brady: I saw your car outside.

Theresa: [Sighs] What are you looking at?

Brady: I was hoping we, uh, we could talk, Theresa.

Theresa: [Groans] Do we have to? Right now, I just want to sleep. [Groans] Are you just gonna stand there judging me?

Brady: Where were you last night? Where were you?

Theresa: Where wasn't I? Was a better question. I was out with friends, hitting every bar within a ten-mile radius.

Brady: This isn't like you. All right? I don't know what's going on, but this is not like you. I don't get it.

Theresa: What's there to get, Brady? I just--I need sleep.

Brady: You need--you need-- you need to straighten up. Baby--

Theresa: [Scoffs] Straighten up? Okay, Grandpa. [Moans]

Brady: Listen to me. Why don't we, um, why don't we go on a trip, huh? Why don't we get out of here? Why don't we take Tate on a vacation? We could go to Australia. We could go to Hawaii, Bora Bora--you pick--

Theresa: Whatever.

Brady: You pick.

Theresa: Whatever.

Brady: Where are you going? I want to talk to you.

Theresa: I'm going to shower and try not to throw up.

Brady: Damn it.

[Dramatic music]

Justin: Your arraignment escorts have arrived.

Rafe: So how did your one-on-one with André go? Oh, he knows. I ran it by him.

Justin: I really wish you would have allowed me to sit in on this chat.

Hope: I know, but I really needed to talk to him alone. And I'm glad that I did.

Rafe: So what happened?

Hope: I don't know. Something's up. He didn't seem himself. He actually seemed geared toward cutting me some slack.

Justin: How so?

Hope: As long as I still plead guilty, he said he's willing to let the cards fall where they may.

Justin: Well, let's just see if they fall in our favor. You ready?

Steve: Got a text, says he needs a PI, tells me to meet him here. He's a no-show. I'll give him five more minutes.

Shane: Hey--whoa! Easy, easy, easy.

Steve: Hey! What? What? What the hell?

[Dramatic music]

Kate: Please tell me your talk went well with hope.

André: [Chuckles] Let's just say that your words of wisdom were not lost on me.

Steve: Wow, man. It is really good to see you, governor.

Shane: Seriously? After all these years, and he still has to call me that.

Steve: Well, that's because I know how much you love it. So what's with the sneak attack? You know that our fair city was recently under siege? It's not the best time to make like Tiny Tim and tiptoe through the tulips.

Shane: Yeah, I, uh, I know. I apologize.

Steve: So, you gonna tell me why you're here, or we gonna play 20 questions?

Shane: It's, uh-- I'm here in Salem on family business. I'm trying to keep a low profile.

Steve: Oh. So you're the client who contacted me earlier.

Shane: Yeah, I, um-- I wanted to touch base about hope. I feel terrible about the situation she's in.

Steve: You're not the only one.

Shane: Yeah, I should have worked harder to keep an eye on her. And Bo.

Steve: So that's why you're here? Because of hope?

Shane: I want to help. Any way I can.

[Dramatic music]

Rafe: What the hell just happened?

Justin: I put on a good show. I thought we had a chance.

Hope: Bail request was never gonna go through. Not after I plead guilty.

Justin: Trask is bucking for a promotion, but I still did not expect her to ask for special circumstances.

Hope: It's the number of bullets in the body. It can only mean one thing. The death penalty.
