Chad: It's good to see you, Marlena.
Marlena: Thank you. And thank you for seeing me on short notice. I think it's important.
Kate: So you said on the phone call.
Marlena: Well, yes, I... I want to talk to you about Clyde. I've spoken with the police and the FBI and I filed a preliminary psychological evaluation.
Chad: Does it say that he's as psychotic as his son is?
Marlena: Well, I didn't really make a diagnosis. Mostly, I want to see what he's thinking so we can... so we can figure out what he might do next.
Chad: Of course. Well, whatever I can do.
Marlena: Thank you. What I really want to do is talk to Kate. You had a relationship with him. I'd like to talk about the time that you had together.
Kate: Well, no wonder you didn't mention this in the phone call. Did you know about this?
Chad: No. No.
Kate: Seriously? I don't even like thinking about that time, much less talking about him.
Marlena: I understand that, Kate. But the fact is that you knew him better than anybody except, perhaps, his children.
Kate: Well, I'd really like to forget about that.
Marlena: I understand that too. But the more we know about him, the better we'll be able to find him and maybe even stop him.
Chad: Kate, I think that maybe you should answer her questions. I'll take a hike if you want me to.
Kate: No. No, you don't have to do that. I mean, truthfully, when he was holding me at gunpoint, he did tell me that he came back for Thomas. That he wants to give that sweet baby to his deranged serial killer of a son. So, yes, of course. I will do anything I have to do to get that son of a bitch.
Clyde: Hey. How 'bout we order in, huh? How do you feel about sushi? Oh, wait a minute. Restaurants are closed and we can't get to the market 'cause the whole freakin' town's in a state of emergency because of your brilliant idea to blow up the power plant.
Orpheus: As I recall, you thought it was a fine idea.
Clyde: I thought it'd be a little shock and awe. And while everyone was shocked and awed, we'd get in there, do what we came here to do, and get the hell out. Didn't think we'd be setting up housekeeping.
Orpheus: Yeah. Let's hope that puts you in a better mood.
Clyde: We should be long gone by now.
Orpheus: You know, you're looking at this all wrong, Clyde. I'm actually quite enjoying myself.
Clyde: Yeah, it's great. After lunch, we can go to the spa.
Orpheus: No, no, no, no, think about it. Just think about it. All of those people out there are frightened to death, looking over their shoulders, wondering when we're gonna strike next. The Johnsons, worried about their son, if he's dead or alive. John and Marlena, trying to get back to their dreary little lives knowing they're at the top of my list.
Clyde: All this time has given DiMera time to turn his mansion into a fortress.
Orpheus: We're in a war of nerves, Clyde, which means if you lose yours, you become a liability. You don't want to be a liability.
Jennifer: All right, honey, just calm down and just tell me what happened. Here, sit. Sit.
Ciara: I was at the hospital with Theo after he just saw his dad. He was really upset and then he just, like, disappeared.
Jennifer: Well, maybe he just needed some time alone.
Ciara: No, he just left. Without a police escort. I think he did it on purpose.
Jennifer: Well, he probably went home, or maybe he went to see Chad.
Ciara: I already checked. His dad is all he has.
Jennifer: No, I know that, sweetie.
Ciara: He was really freaked out. I've never seen him like this.

Aiden: Yes, I understand your concern, but I am the district attorney. Yes, your restaurant, your staff, will have maximum security. No, no, no, no, see, you do not understand. This dinner is for hope Brady. She is a friend of yours. Yes? Fine. You do what you think it right. But let me tell you something. When the health inspectors come around your way, be ready.
André: My sympathy, Aiden. Must be really hard to plan a romantic dinner for two when the city's in lockdown.
Aiden: I'm busy.
André: I heard you mention hope Brady. Have you two kids finally worked it out?
Rafe: So... you wanna take a break.
Hope: I think it's best.
Rafe: "I think it's best." "I think it's best"? Doesn't sound like you. You don't talk like that.
Hope: I'm sorry. [Sighs] God, this is not easy. It's just that so much has happened this past year, I-I'm overwhelmed right now.
Rafe: By Aiden.
Hope: By everything. I need time-- I need time to think right now.
Rafe: I'm sorry. I'm just... I'm not buying it.
Hope: I'm sorry. You've done so much for me. It's understatement, isn't it? We're much better off as friends.
Rafe: Oh, it's friends? It's friends... um, you know, you are a really terrible liar. You do know that, right? I mean, terrible. So why don't you just tell me what's really going on.
Aiden: I don't like people listening in on my calls.
André: Oh, but... you and hope?
Aiden: Are working things out.
André: What about detective Hernandez? What is he, throwing in the romantic towel? Is he stepping aside selflessly to clear the way for a man who tried to kill his beloved?
Aiden: That was not me.
André: Oh... no, you just planned to kill her. [Chuckles] What can I say? The path of true love never runs smoothly.
Aiden: This conversation is over.
André: Really? When we haven't yet discussed the subject of blackmail?
Hope: Don't make it more difficult than it already is, all right? I do--I care. I care a lot.
Rafe: Okay.
Hope: Just not as much as you feel for me.
Rafe: Oh, hope... I mean, I'm supposed to buy that? Hope, it's me. Look at me. Look at me. Listen. Hey. It's me. It's me. Not just some guy that loves you, okay? I'm your partner. I know what you're thinking before you even think it. What is going here? Hope, look at me. Just look at me. Tell me you want to take a break. Tell me.
Hope: Damn it, Rafe. The city's in a state of emergency, we don't have time--
Rafe: Oh, state of emer-- look at me.
Hope: Rafe, not now.
Rafe: Look at me. Tell me you don't love me.
Hope: I can't.
Rafe: I knew it.
Hope: No, no, no. It's because I'M... I don't want to hurt you, okay? It doesn't mean I don't need a break. I need time. Alone without... without you, okay?
Rafe: Aiden's making you do this, isn't he?
Hope: No, no, no.
Rafe: Don't lie to me.
Hope: Rafe, I'm not--
Rafe: Stop it! We don't lie to each other. Do we? No. So don't start.
Hope: You're right. It's Aiden. It is Aiden.
We all need a hug in the morning...
Kate: Thing I have to face is that I didn't believe Jordan when she told all the things that Clyde had done to her. You know, the... the abuse... or maybe I chose not to believe her.
Marlena: You think it's possible she was telling the truth?
Kate: The anger was real. She was specific. But I told myself that she was making up lies because she wanted to get revenge on Clyde. Or maybe I just wanted to maintain the status quo. Clyde could be so... entertaining.
Chad: Yeah, a real laugh riot.
Marlena: Did you see any indication that he could be violent?
Kate: No. He has a really good act. You don't see anything he doesn't want you to see.
Chad: Yeah, back in the day, but now he's completely out of control--I mean, you should have heard the way that he was talking to Kate.
Marlena: Well, I did.
Chad: No, I mean the first time at the martin house. I mean, at first, he was just yelling at her.
Kate: Seems like a lot more than yelling when you're being held at gunpoint.
Chad: But then he got crazier and crazier until he started talking about taking my son and giving him to Ben, as if that was in a real realm of possibilities.
Kate: Chad's right. I think Clyde is completely delusional now. I think he actually believes if he could somehow get Thomas from Chad, if he could somehow get the baby to Ben that Ben would forgive him for everything that he did to him.
Marlena: You think that taking Thomas was his primary goal?
Kate: Absolutely, I do.
Chad: Over my dead body.
Clyde: You know, I look back now, I can see, I was arrogant. I lost track of what's important. You know? Now, at the end of the day, all that really matters is family.
Orpheus: Seven letters for "lachrymose."
Clyde: Now Jordan doesn't want anything to do with me. And my boy Ben is locked up and all alone.
Orpheus: "Maudlin."
Clyde: Hell, I didn't know anything about being a good father. My daddy used to beat the hell out of me too.
"Hell is other people" author.
Clyde: I know. You know, I'm not dumb.
Orpheus: "Sartre."
Clyde: I know all about cycles of abuse. Well, I tell you, man, I'm gonna break that cycle. I'm gonna kill that DiMera. I'm gonna get the kid. And give Ben a shot at being the kind of father I only dreamed about being.
Orpheus: The bar is low.
Clyde: One thing I feel bad about, though. Shooting that carver guy. I didn't mean to hurt him. He's got a boy of his own. You know, he isn't... he isn't right. You know--you know what I mean. But I feel bad about that kid.
Theo: "The shots came from the Salem inn. Police think the suspect couldn't have gotten far before they closed down the perimeter." He's close.
[Dramatic music]
And I'm gonna find him.
Roman: Yeah, yeah. The cops assigned to Theo already reported. He got away.
Jennifer: Ciara said that Theo is still really upset about Abe.
Roman: Yeah, well, everybody knows to keep an eye out for him. As you can imagine, it's kinda busy here.
Jennifer: Roman, listen, Ciara knows Theo better than anyone, any she's just so upset that he's gonna do something rash.
Ciara: Here, just-- uncle roman, I think he's gonna go after those guys. I think they're gonna kill him.
Roman: That is not gonna happen, I promise you that, okay? So you stay with Jenn. Try not to worry.
Jennifer: Honey, listen to me. I know that you're scared. But everybody loves Theo. They're gonna find him. They're not gonna let anything happen to him.
Ciara: [Sighs] He just--he wasn't like himself.
Jennifer: No, I know. But can you think of any place that he might go?
Ciara: No, I've already checked all the places I could think of. God, he was a mess when his mom died. If his dad dies too, he's...
Jennifer: Don't think about that, okay? Don't think about that. Don't even go there.
Ciara: I just wish there was something I could do.
Jennifer: There is, sweetie. You just got to pray.
Rafe: I knew--I knew it! I knew that there was something weird going on between the two of you. There was this tension! Oh, my God.
Hope: You're right. You're right, there is.
Rafe: Yeah.
Hope: A lot of tension because... there's so much unfinished business between us, and I'm sorry, but that's... that's it. That's why I need-- I need time away from you, Rafe. Just--it's complicated right now. It's too hard to explain, all right?
Rafe: Oh, yeah. It's too hard--yeah, it's too hard and complicated that you couldn't tell me what Aiden whispered to you when Abe got shot.
Hope: You know what--there! That's a perfect example. A perfect example why I need a break from you, Hernandez. Because you don't--when I don't give you the answer you want, you bully me and you keep at it. I'm so sick and tired of you telling me that you know me better than I know myself.
Rafe: I know when you're hiding something from me. This can only mean one thing. And it sure as hell isn't that you love Aiden. He knows that you killed Stefano, doesn't he? Why am I so devastatingly handsome, I'm in a fragrance...
Chad: How is it today?
Kate: The same.
Chad: She's been having these headaches.
Kate: I think it's just one long, non-stop headache, actually.
Marlena: Well, I think that's what the people in Salem are going through. It's this high level of stress and it's constant and unrelenting.
Kate: What are you thinking?
Marlena: Oh, something that Clyde had said in therapy. Of course, it's...privileged.
Chad: You wouldn't want to betray his trust.
Marlena: I realized when I was treating him that we weren't getting anywhere except...
Chad: Except what?
Marlena: For a long time, Clyde was able to deny the fact that he was treating his son as his father had treated him. And then he began losing it. And...well, as you said, he became delusional. And began to realize that he was actually turning into his father.
Clyde: You know, sometimes my daddy was whaling on me. I'd look up, and... look in his eyes, and... you know, he... he wasn't even there. And only with nobody home. I wonder if Ben felt that way about me. Hey, you want a drink?
Orpheus: No. You've had enough, I would say.
Clyde: Hey, Milo, you know what? You stuff it.
[Bang]
Clyde: The hell was that? I'm gonna see what's going on.
Rafe: I'm right, aren't I? All right. Aiden knows what happened, now he's blackmailing you.
Hope: He closed the case, remember?
Rafe: He's not interested in the case, hope. He's interested in you.
Hope: You're wrong. You could not be more--
Rafe: I can protect you. We can do this. We can do this together.
Hope: You already have. Again and again. You know I can't look you in the eye and lie to you. Please. Please. You need to back off. You need... to back off.
Rafe: He knows I covered for you, doesn't he?
[Tense music]
[Dramatic sting]
Aiden: I think you should be very careful before you start throwing words around like "blackmail."
André: Oh, you district attorneys, you're always so touchy.
Aiden: Hope and I are working to get back to where we were.
André: Oh. Before you planned to kill her.
Aiden: No, before you and your father took over my life.
André: What an optimistic little lady that hope is. Others might obstacles-- a failed murder attempt, months of lying... was there anything else? Oh, yes, the kids... they just don't get along.
Aiden: You need to get yourself in hand.
André: Do I?
Aiden: Mm-hmm.
André: May I remind you that it's I who gave you the ammo to take Justin Kiriakis's job away from him?
Aiden: That doesn't mean you're privy to my personal life.
André: No, what gives me privy to your personal life is that I can still frame you for the explosion that almost killed hope and her young stud Hernandez. But feel free to throw the word around, "blackmail." I'm not squeamish about it like you are.
Aiden: Know this. If you do anything to cross me now, you'd be making a very serious mistake. Consider yourself warned.
André: [Chuckles] Oh, I'm shaking.
Hope: Just stop it, okay?
Rafe: If you're doing this to protect me, stop it. I'm not afraid of Aiden.
Hope: I know--
Rafe: I'm not gonna stand by and let him blackmail you into being with him.
Hope: Damn it, you and I aren't the only ones Aiden could hurt!
Rafe: Roman.
Hope: Now will you let me do this my way?
Rafe: No, I--no. I'm not letting you do this your way. Listen to me. We are in this together.
Hope: No--
Rafe: I don't want roman to hurt, okay. You just go with Aiden, you buy a little time, and then you and I will figure out the next move.
Hope: Listen to me. This is too risky. He watches every move I make. He knows when we're together. No, you need to--
Rafe: Hope, listen to me. The city's on lockdown. We are partners. We have to spend time together.
Hope: Stop it. Please, stop.
Rafe: I am not gonna stop. I love you.
Hope: I know, stop, Rafe...
Rafe: I love you.
Hope: I know. That's what makes it so much more difficult. Please. Y! You're the-
Roman: Theo. What the hell do you think you're doing?
Theo: I-I-I went to my dad and now I'm going home.
Roman: Save it, okay? I know you ditched your protection. You don't do that just to go home. Besides, this is not the way home, so let's try this again, okay? Talk to me. Tell me the truth.
Theo: All right, look, I-I was--I was upset, and I wanted to walk alone.
Roman: And didn't answer your phone.
Theo: I was saving the battery.
Roman: You're not giving anything up, are you?
Theo: Look, I promise I'll go right home.
Roman: No, you're not. You're going to the station with me. Yeah, Jenn. Roman here. I've got Theo. He's fine.
Jennifer: Oh, thank God.
Roman: Okay, we're going to the station. Tell Ciara, okay?
Jennifer: Yeah, I will. Okay, roman is with Theo. He is fine, and they're heading over to the station.
Ciara: Thank God. Okay, I'm gonna tell Claire.
Jennifer: Wait, where are you going?
Ciara: To the station. Theo needs me.
Jennifer: What? Honey, no. Are you sure?
Ciara: Yeah, I have cops on me. I'll be fine.
Jennifer: All right, please be careful, and tell Theo he is more than welcome to come back here.
Ciara: Okay. Thank you for everything.
Jennifer: You're welcome, honey. Please be so careful.
Ciara: Okay.
Clyde: False alarm.
Orpheus: Also known as an overreaction
Clyde: Checked on the kid. Xander says he's been quiet. Course, being bound and gagged has that affect on people, you know?
Orpheus: His poor parents must be going through hell.
Clyde: Well, at least my boy's alive. I just gotta figure out how to get him out of there.
Orpheus: Yes. And I'm sure that once you've broken him out of a maximum security prison and handed him the baby you kidnapped, you'll all live happily ever after.
[Metal clangs]
Clyde: Just hate all this waiting around.
Orpheus: Yes. Think you might be on to something, Clyde. Perhaps we have waited long enough. I think it's time for us to have another chat with our old friend, roman.
Marlena: Thank you for taking the time.
Chad: You got it. Anything to help find that maniac. Excuse me. I gotta go check on Thomas.
Kate: I'm so worried about him. He's so tightly coiled. Do you really think refining this psychological profile, is it gonna help find Clyde?
Marlena: I don't know. But it's all I know how to do.
Kate: My, God, you're lucky. 'Cause I can't do squat.
Marlena: How are you holding up here?
Kate: What difference does it make, you know? I'm not the one that lost their wife, I'm not the one whose son's being threatened.
Marlena: I think you're doing a very good job of supporting Chad.
Kate: Well, if I can get him to think about business for two minutes, that's two minutes that he's not thinking about what the Westons did to him, what they did to his family. We have to find Clyde. I don't know how much longer he's gonna be able to go on like this.
Marlena: Frankly, I'm a little afraid that Weston may be learning from Orpheus. How to make people suffer. By making them wait.
Aiden: Yes, and just make sure when dinner is served, there are no interruptions
[Pounding on door]
Rafe: Open the door, you son of a bitch.
Aiden: Ah. And would you please make sure the champagne is properly iced? Thank you. Ah, there he is!
Clyde: I think it's time for some rules in this relationship. I wanna be the most important thing in your life. Not hawking lipstick or perfume or meddling--
Kate: Okay, so let-- let me get this straight. Clyde Weston is the most important thing in my life?
Clyde: That's what I'm getting at.
Kate: Oh, I see. But I don't suppose you're gonna stop running your trucking company, or you're gonna stop meddling in your children's lives. No. What is this, the 1960s? Did I wander onto the set of "man men"? Is this the twilight zone?
Clyde: Do you have a problem with me asking for due respect?
Kate: I have a problem with you acting like a chauvinistic jerk. Look. I have had a lot of losers in my life. I've been saddled with a lot of them. But I'm really learning how to cut my losses. I liked your confidence at the beginning--I did. But your ego is way, way out of control. You need to find someone who's gonna like being with a narcissist, because that certainly isn't me. Just consider yourself dumped.
Chad: She gone?
Kate: Yeah.
Chad: Look, there's something I need to talk to you about. Sonny told me that Clyde was the one that had him stabbed.
Kate: Damn him.
Chad: In order to get Victor to back off.
Kate: Will was so scared that Sonny was gonna die.
Chad: And that's why Sonny and Brady made that preemptive strike against Clyde.
Kate: Yeah, but-- what good did that do? Clyde is still at large. Kiriakis business holdings are at risk.
Chad: Sonny's mad at me for taking advantage of that and he won't even return my calls now.
Chad: Don't do that. Don't get sentimental. Don't back off. Don't make concessions.
Chad: Well, okay, you know, I have a little trouble putting the almighty dollar in front of everything when everybody's under siege, when my son's at risk.
Kate: I want you to think about your son. Clyde's gonna get caught. This whole nightmare is gonna be over. But those deals we made kept this company from going into bankruptcy in six months. And as we discussed before, it isn't just DiMera enterprises. It's your son's legacy. And you and I are going to protect that.
André: Is Laura with you? Good. I knew she could help. Oh, don't worry. I won't say a word to anyone. Not until you are good and ready.
Ciara: Theo. So scared when you just took off without me.
Theo: Well, I mean, sorry you were worried.
Ciara: Why didn't you answer my texts?
Theo: I wasn't checking my phone.
Ciara: That's not like you.
Theo: Well, I mean, I'm busy, I got things I need to do.
Ciara: What things?
Theo: Look. The man who shot my dad, he has to pay, okay?
Ciara: And he will. When he get caught, he'll be punished.
Theo: No, now.
Ciara: Now?
Theo: Yeah.
Ciara: Theo, I don't like the way that you're talking. Look, your dad is gonna be fine, and as for the guy that shot him, leave that to the police.
Theo: No, they don't care enough. No, not like me. I'm his son. It's up to me.
Ciara: It's not up to you. Those men are dangerous.
Theo: I know. So am I.
Orpheus: "You and john black meet me in the private area of the square equipped to transfer $20 million to the following Swiss bank account. Come alone. Do exactly as I say, or Joseph Johnson dies."
Clyde: You best be damn sure they can't trace that email.
Orpheus: Yes, Clyde. I'm damn sure they can't trace the email. Just glad we had enough power to send it. Well, it seems that our time here in Salem is drawing to a close. We terminate all those that need to be terminated. And we leave.
Clyde: With Thomas. God help him that gets in the way.
Jennifer: You just missed Ciara. They found Theo.
Hope: I know.
Jennifer: She went to the police station to see him--
Hope: I know, thank God. Thank God he's okay.
Jennifer: Yeah.
Hope: She texted me.
Jennifer: Good. I'm glad you dropped by.
Hope: Yeah.
Jennifer: What's going on?
Hope: I guess I wanted to tell you in person. I mean, you're gonna hear about it anyway.
Jennifer: What? What's wrong?
Hope: It's over between Rafe and me. I broke up with him.
Aiden: Very stupid thing to do.
Rafe: So is trying to blackmail hope. Now, I don't know what you think you have on her, but I'm not letting you get away with this.
Aiden: Look, you have no say in the situation.
Rafe: Oh, really?
Aiden: Yeah, and hope is a very strong-minded person. So she's gonna do what she thinks is best.
Rafe: Oh, you think you can make her do what you want her to do to protect the people she lives.
Aiden: [Sighs] I see. You need to put a spin on this, is that it?
Rafe: No.
Aiden: Is it? Because you're hurting. She dumped you. That's what happened, right? Listen to this, Rafe. She's gonna be with me. Deal with it.
Rafe: You'd have to kill me first.
Aiden: Don't tempt me.
Jennifer: You broke up with Rafe? Why did you do that? You love him.
Hope: Sometimes, love just isn't enough, is it?
Jennifer: But you do love him.
Hope: It's complicated.
Jennifer: No. That is not complicated, hope. I was there in the hospital after the explosion. His--oh, my goodness. His love for you, it was so all over him. Come on, I know that... you love him the same, so whatever it is--
Hope: I don't have a choice, okay?
Jennifer: What?
Hope: Just don't judge.
Jennifer: I would never. You know that. Please, I am on your side.
Hope: Thank you. That's what I need right now.
Rafe: You're not gonna get away with this. You're not.
Aiden: Let me give you a little reality check, okay? You just assaulted the district attorney. Now I can bring you up on police brutality charges. Or maybe something much, much worse.
Clyde: Roman and john should have responded by now.
Orpheus: Now they need to think, which we know is hard for both of them. But they will. They're not about to take chances with young Joseph's life.
Marlena: All right, I updated the file based on what I heard from Kate and Chad.
Roman: Thanks. But there's been a new development. I just got an untraceable email demanding we act now on that ransom demand.
Marlena: Oh, come on. That must be a trap. No, they don't want money. They want revenge.
Roman: I know that. But I don't have a choice at this point, not as long as they got Joey. So I set up a meeting for john to wire money and get Joey back.
Marlena: I don't like this. Don't like it. And you're right. We gotta do whatever they say.
Roman: I'm doing everything I can, I assure you, to make sure that john and Joey are both safe. But we don't have a lot of time, so john has to be in that town square ready to wire money in 30 minutes.
