[Door closes]
Aiden: Hope. I'm glad I ran into you.
Adrienne: Roll it... hey, Theo, hey. I'm so glad you're staying here. I know your dad is too.
Theo: Oh, yeah, he-- he worries.
Adrienne: Hey, could you watch Arianna and Thomas for just a minute while I warm Thomas's bottle?
Theo: Sure.
Adrienne: Oh, great. Thank you. Thank you, sweetie.
Theo: You're welcome.
Adrienne: [Laughs] Hey, um, you know what? I'm gonna check on security too, make sure everything's okay.
Theo: Okay, yeah. No worries.
Aiden: We need to talk.
Hope: Aiden. We have nothing to discuss.
Aiden: It's important.
[Explosion]
Gabi: Hey, um, do you have the receipts for those bags that I--I put them in the bag. Do you know where they are?
Chad: Um, yup. Those are upstairs.
Gabi: Do you know where upstairs?
Chad: Yes, I'll show you in just a second.
Gabi: Okay, thank you. Oh, whoa. What's going on? Oh, my god! What's happening?
Chad: Um... the power's out, so... we're trapped.
Theo: It's--it's okay. You know, everything-- everything's gonna be fine. Lights are gonna be back on in a minute, and we'll be good.
[Suspenseful music]
Hope: Okay.
Aiden: Did you hear that?
Hope: Of course I heard that. It was loud enough to wake the dead.
Aiden: No lights! Looks like the whole downtown is out.
Hope: Please, god, don't let it be what I think it is. I need to go check on Caroline. Aiden, you should probably go.
Aiden: No, that's okay. I can wait here and--
Hope: I'm fine. Please, just go.
[Glass shatters]
Aiden: Ah! Damn it!
Rafe: So we've got three maniacs on the loose, there was an explosion, and now there's a blackout, and you think it's a coincidence? Oh, okay. Well, I'm at the square. There's no one here. Evidently, everyone knew to stay home. Yeah. Hey, by the way, have you heard from hope? I tried calling her; no answer.
Gabi: What do you mean, we're trapped in here?
Chad: Well, it's an electromagnetic lock, which means if there is no power, we're--there's no way to get out.
Gabi: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Arianna? Arianna! Somebody, please help us! We're stuck!
Chad: That's not--
Theo: I don't know why the lights are out.
[Tense music]
Orpheus: "Ill met by moonlight, proud titania." I bet that right now, you're praying that this is a nightmare.
Kayla: [Screams] [Whimpering]
Orpheus: Remember me?
[Crickets chirping]
Joey: What's up with the lights? What the hell? Hey, get away from her!
Orpheus: Patch Jr. It is in your mother's best interest if you remain very, very quiet. You can do that, can't you?
Joey: Yes, sir.
Orpheus: Good answer.
Xander: So what now?
Orpheus: Now we have some fun.
[Clattering]
Steve: What the hell is going on? I don't want you to worry, sweet pea. I'm not gonna let anything happen to you or Joe.
Kayla: I was so terrified when Orpheus held me captive.
Steve: I know. But I got there, and everything worked out, right?
Kayla: For us, yeah. But not Marlena. And if it could happen to her, it could happen to us. I mean, look, he-- he already shot john.
[Ominous music]
Steve: No. No.
[Tense music]
Oh, god.
Gabi: Arianna!
Chad: Stop. Nobody can hear you. Gabi, stop.
Gabi: Oh, my god.
Chad: Arianna's gonna be fine, all right? So is Thomas. Adrienne and Lucas are gonna take good care of them. Okay?
Gabi: Okay, okay.
[Baby crying]
Theo: Adrienne? Lucas? What happened? It's--it's all-- it's dark everywhere.
[Object clatters]
[Lock clicks]
[Baby crying]
Theo: It's--it's okay. We're safe now.
Claire: Right, no service. Who needs service in a blackout?
Hope: I thought you'd be gone.
Aiden: I know. I'm sorry. I--
Hope: Aiden, you're bleeding.
Aiden: Broke--broke a glass with my hand. It's nothing, really. I'm--
Hope: Sit down. Put your hand up.
Aiden: I'm okay, really. I just--
Hope: I'll decide that. When I was upstairs, I looked out the back window. Nothing but headlights and taillights, so it's not just downtown. It's the whole city.
Aiden: The explosion.
Hope: The central power plant.
Aiden: Orpheus and friends?
Hope: He's always loved blowing things up. Let me take a look at this.
Aiden: Yes.
Hope: It's a deep cut. You need stitches.
Aiden: Serves me right, huh? For being so clumsy.
Hope: This may hurt.
Aiden: Oh. [Chuckles]
Hope: Sorry.
Aiden: I'm sorry. Before, I should have-- I shouldn't have done that.
Aiden: Aiden? I told you before. There's nothing for us to talk about. After I get you patched up, you're on your own.
Claire: You know, you scared the hell out of me!
JJ: You know, I don't care. What the hell are you doing out here alone? I distinctly told you to stay put.
Claire: Yeah, well, I'm not a kid, you know.
JJ: Well, you're acting like one. Just what part of "killers on the loose" didn't you understand?
Claire: Uh, my god, cops to protect, serve, and boss people around. Okay, so what happened to all the lights? Did you hear that explosion?
JJ: Yeah.
Claire: Okay, well, did they do that, the killers on the loose?
Rafe: Hey. I heard a scream. Is everyone okay?
Claire: Yeah, yeah. Sorry, that was me. It was pitch black, and this idiot came out of nowhere and grabbed me.
JJ: 'Cause she was out here alone. You're going back to my mom's.
Claire: I live in a police state.
JJ: I'm sorry I was trying to prevent you from getting killed.
Rafe: Okay, don't mean to interrupt. JJ, have you heard from Gabi?
JJ: Not since the explosion. I tried calling her; I got her voicemail.
Rafe: All right, okay. Listen to what he tells you to do. Whatever is going on, it is not a joke.
[Phone beeps]
Claire: Wait, hold up. You have service? I don't.
JJ: Let's go.
Claire: JJ, your house is that way.
JJ: Change of plans.
Claire: Okay, I'll go by myself.
JJ: No, you're coming with me; come on.
Claire: Oh!
Chad: I know that there is an override button somewhere in here.
Gabi: Really? Okay, I just hope my text went through to JJ.
Chad: Got it.
Gabi: Got it?
Chad: Nothing.
Gabi: It didn't work?
Chad: No, it didn't work, all right? It's all so new that nothing has been checked out.
Gabi: You know, I did-- I did hear something when the door closed. It sounded like--like thunder or something.
Chad: It was a perfectly clear night.
Gabi: Is it getting hot in here or what?
Chad: We're not gonna suffocate.
Gabi: Yeah, we're just gonna roast.
Chad: Just pretend it's a sauna and hope that JJ got your text.
[Baby crying]
Theo: Thomas, please stop crying.
[Baby crying]
Theo: Why didn't she come back? Something's wrong. Something's-- something's really wrong. Thomas, please stop crying. You don't have to cry. I'll take care of you, like Adrienne said. Okay?
[Baby whining]
Theo: Where is she? Where is she?
Adrienne: Do you know what happened?
Lucas: I don't know. I checked the breaker, but that wasn't it. Did you hear that explosion?
Adrienne: It was hard to miss. Lucas.
Lucas: What?
Adrienne: Lucas.
Lucas: I called security. They said cell phone service--
Adrienne: The door's closed. Thomas is crying. Jeez, it's locked.
Lucas: It's what?
Adrienne: It's locked!
Steve: Kayla?
Orpheus: You looking for this?
Steve: You son of a bitch. Where the hell is my family?
[Dramatic music]
Our invigorating ocean spray single-serve juice drinks
Gabi: JJ still hasn't texted me back. It probably didn't go through.
Chad: Okay, well, Adrienne and Lucas know where I'm at. Here, water.
Gabi: I know. Where are they?
Chad: Well, probably taking care of the kids.
Gabi: [Sighs]
Chad: Has it been that long? They probably haven't even realized something's wrong.
Gabi: All right, so you said you want me to think of this as a sauna? [Chuckles] Good thing this is not like a sauna, because a sauna, you could leave.
Chad: mot tense.
Gabi: Yeah, I just want to make sure that you knew I wasn't putting down your family or anything.
Chad: Well, you were.
Gabi: No. I mean... yes, the DiMeras have a reputation. But you're...different, Chad. You're not like them. You're kind and caring and compassionate. You're nothing like them.
Chad: Well, that doesn't make sense. I have to be a little bit like them, genetically speaking.
Gabi: Not necessarily. Okay, yes, in certain aspects, yes, but...
Chad: But what? No, but there are--there are no buts about it. Look, yes, I, um... I am like the DiMeras in certain ways. I have DiMera tendencies. But the difference is, is I fight them. I--I spend my life fighting them. My love for Abby motivated me to be a better person, and now that she's gone, I have to do that for my son so someday, hopefully, he can be proud of his father so when he grows up to be a man, even when people make very funny jokes like you just did, he can be proud to be a DiMera.
Gabi: Right. Of course. And if you're as a dad the kind of man that you are and the example that you're setting, I think he's gonna be very proud of his name.
Chad: I hope so. But what you said about... nothing good can come from having anything to do with a DiMera, even though I know you meant that as a joke, it was-- it's unfortunately very true.
[Baby crying]
Theo: Thomas, please, please, please stop crying. Please. God, I wish Ciara was here. She'd know what to do.
Adrienne: Theo? Theo, honey, please! Please open the door. It's locked!
[Baby crying]
Lucas: Theo, come on, buddy. You got to open the door.
Adrienne: Honey, please!
Lucas: Come on, Theo! Come on!
Adrienne: What are we gonna do?
Lucas: I don't know.
Theo: [Breathing heavily]
[Baby crying]
Aiden: Look, I know you don't want to talk, but there is something I think you should know. I sent chase back up to Portland. He's gonna see that psychiatrist he saw after Meredith died. I thought maybe Ciara would want to know, you know, he's gone.
Hope: I'll make sure she knows. You said "sent."
Tell me you didn't buy this for yourself. Fresh cup of coffee and a comfy armchair? Mmm. You know, it's the little things that you learn to appreciate when you're in prison. Although it is difficult to make a good cup of coffee during a power outage. My bad. The power outage, I mean. It's wonderful what you can do with just a little c4. Kaboom.
So, Steve... where were you when the lights went out?
Steve: Where the hell is my family?
Orpheus: My friend, you have a one-track mind. Cue the family.
Kayla: [Muffled cries]
Orpheus: Seems like old times, doesn't it?
[Tense music]
Gabi: I'm sorry. I can't--I can't take this. It's too hot. Hey, I'm sorry. I was trying to be funny, and it was totally unfunny, and now I have you thinking about Abigail.
Chad: Stop, I-- [Sighs] I think about Abby all the time. You know, I, um-- when things were going well between her and I, I used to tell myself the exact same thing you just told me: That-- it's hot. That, you know, I-- I wasn't like the rest of the DiMeras and I was one of the good guys and that if she was with me, she would be happy and safe. And in the end, she just-- she got hurt, like everyone else who's fallen for a DiMera.
Gabi: I mean, isn't that a little egocentric? Ben was to blame for everything that happened with Abigail. I mean, she didn't pay because she fell for you. It was because she got involved with a homicidal maniac, and then everything went wrong. You have to know that, Chad. No? Yes?
Chad: Yeah, yeah. Yes.
Gabi: You know, I get it. You're still--you feel responsible. That's a shame, 'cause you shouldn't. You know, you've been through so much, Chad. And you have a beautiful baby boy now. You should give yourself a break and accept that as heartbreaking and tragic as that event was, I mean, it has nothing to do with you. It wasn't your fault.
Chad: That was very well said.
Gabi: [Laughs]
Chad: And I thank you for trying to alleviate my guilt or at least put things in perspective, so I will do my best to take your advice and give myself a break.
Gabi: Good. I'm glad. But that does not save you from being to blame for this current predicament that we are in.
Chad: For this?
Gabi: Yes, for this. You are completely at fault for this.
Chad: Okay, fine, yeah. I'll take the blame for this. You're right; I should have-- I should have stopped you from coming in. Or when you did, I should have just kicked you out immediately, because what are you doing in my panic room?
Gabi: Yeah, you should have kicked me out, exactly. And you should have never let me see this super-scary room, and it's now much scarier, because we're trapped in here.
Chad: Right. Well, my sincerest apologies.
Gabi: Accepted. [Laughs] Shouldn't-- shouldn't they have found us by now? I mean, it's been a while now.
Chad: Hasn't been that long.
Gabi: Long enough, Chad. I mean--I mean, haven't they noticed that we're missing? [Sighs]
Adrienne: Theo! Honey, please!
Both: Open the door!
Adrienne: We want to help you!
Lucas: There's got to be a spare key or something.
Adrienne: I don't know if there's a spare key.
Lucas: Theo, come on, buddy. Come on!
Adrienne: We haven't seen Chad since the blackout.
Lucas: He went to check on the panic room. Maybe the power outage activated the mechanism or something.
Adrienne: God, no.
Lucas: Come on, Theo! Come on, buddy!
Adrienne: Theo! Theo, please open the door!
Lucas: Jack should have been back by now. He should have been back.
Adrienne: We've got to get him to open this door.
Lucas: It's all up to Theo now. It's all up to Theo. Come on, Theo. Come on, buddy. You can do it.
Adrienne: Please open the door!
Lucas: Come on, man.
[Baby crying]
Theo: [Crying softly]
Rafe: Hey. There you are. You okay?
Hope: Yeah, yeah. I'm fine.
Rafe: Good.
Hope: Yeah.
Rafe: What's he doing here?
Hope: He got hurt in the blackout.
Rafe: Yeah, but what was he doing here in the first place? Shouldn't this place be off limits to him?
Aiden: Hello, I'm right here.
Rafe: Well, hopefully not for long. I tried calling you. The line was down.
Hope: The power station--
Rafe: Yeah, roman's dealing with it right now. He's got a crew of guys out there, and it looks like sabotage.
Hope: Seems like Orpheus hasn't changed a bit.
Orpheus: This is a lovely portrait of family values. Just beautiful. 30 years ago, I had you bound and gagged. Now I have your son.
Steve: You got me, man. Let them go. I'm the one you have a beef with.
Orpheus: Yeah, that's right. You got in the way, the result being that john and Marlena were free to live their petty little lives while I spent 30 years in prison. So yeah, I have a little bone to pick with you.
Steve: Joe, no. No, no, no. No. Joe, you let me handle this.
Orpheus: The way you handled it so long ago on my yacht.
[Ominous music]
Kayla: What was that?
Steve: That was trouble. Just stay put. Stay put. Shh, shh. Please, baby, listen, listen. Come on.
Kayla: No, it was roman. I know it was.
Steve: We got to get out of here.
Orpheus: You're not going anywhere, Johnson.
Steve: Okay. Now, maybe we can just make a little deal, huh? [Yells] Come on! Run, run, run, run, run! Go!
[Gunshots]
Adrienne: Hey, Theo. So glad you're staying here. I know your dad is too.
Theo: Oh, yeah, he-- he worries.
Adrienne: Hey, could you watch Arianna and Thomas for just a minute while I warm Thomas's bottle up?
Theo: Sure.
Adrienne: Oh, great. Thank you. Thank you, sweetie.
Theo: You're welcome.
Adrienne: Um, you know what? I'm gonna check on security too, make sure everything's okay.
Theo: Okay, yeah. No worries.
[Baby crying, pounding at door]
Adrienne: You can do it! Theo, please! You can do it. Just open the door. You know--thank god.
Lucas: You okay? You all right? Everything's okay?
Adrienne: Shh.
Theo: I took care of them. I took care of them.
Adrienne: Shh. Shh.
[Baby crying]
Chad: I think it's-- I think it's time that we realize that those things are probably just useless.
Gabi: [Sighs] I'm so happy Adrienne and Lucas are with the kids, because if not, I'd be losing my mind. You know, they've been amazing to Ari. Lucas is so sweet when he looks at her sometimes. I think she reminds him of will but not, like, in a sad way.
Chad: No, I get it. Jennifer does that with Thomas. We've had to grow up fast.
Gabi: Too fast. Well, wait. That actually sounds like I didn't want Arianna.
Chad: No, I know. I know what you meant. It's just, I mean, who-- who would have actually thought that we would have, you know, seen things get this bad?
Gabi: Or find out how bad people could be?
Clyde: Milo, I know you think you're the brains of this operation, but this country boy thinks that blowing up the power plant and plunging the city into darkness was a bit like leaving a calling card, you know? Hell, even the Salem pd might put two and two together. Therefore, I do not think we have time for your little trip down memory lane, so kill him now, brother. Tempus fugit.
Orpheus: I am the brains of this operation, Clyde, so concentrate on being a silent partner.
Clyde: [Chuckles] On your say-so, huh?
Xander: He's right. This is taking too long.
Steve: Oh. Wow. Sounds like you little boys could use a time-out. [Laughs] Are we getting on each other's nerves?
Orpheus: I don't see that you're in any position to make jokes.
Steve: No? Well, well, I seem to be dealing with Larry, curly, and Moe here. Hey, big boy. Are you starting to wonder if partnering up with this guy was the stupidest thing you've ever done? Yeah. You see it, don't you? Yeah, you see it real clear. Thanks to Milo here, instead of maximum security, you'll be facing the death penalty.
Orpheus: Shut up.
Steve: Oh, you know I'm right. You're not just a petty drug lord anymore. Now you're a domestic terrorist. And that is playing so well these days.
Orpheus: I said shut up.
Kayla: [Shrieks]
Steve: So, big boy, what you gonna do when they come for you?
[Tense music]
Orpheus: Shut... up.
Adrienne: Theo, honey? You sure you're okay?
Theo: Yeah, I'm sorry I locked the door. I got--I got scared.
Adrienne: No, honey. No, no, no. You were taking care of the kids, just like you said you would. It's okay, babe. It's okay.
JJ: Is everything okay? I got a text from Gabi.
Lucas: What? Gabi's still here?
JJ: She said that she was trapped in the panic room.
Lucas: Oh, my god.
JJ: Show me where it is.
Lucas: Come on.
JJ: Claire, do not move from this room. Watch her; she can't be trusted.
Claire: Yeah, I'm not going anywhere. Okay, so I was walking across the square, and then all of a sudden, all the lights go out. Hey. Hey, Theo. You look really upset. What's wrong?
Chad: Oh, it's so hot. Okay. I'm sorry. You remember--remember the lake in high school?
Gabi: [Laughs]
Chad: Yeah, I'm going for it. [Laughs] Okay. Oh, god. Okay.
Gabi: I remember.
Chad: Oh!
Gabi: Yeah.
Chad: You know what I remember from-- from high school?
Gabi: No, I just told you I don't want to hear anything from high school. Those days are over.
Chad: I remember how you handled those-- those tiny jock strap-wearing twins in the cafeteria.
Gabi: Oh, the Valentinos, yeah. It's--they wanted-- they wanted me to help them cheat on a history test, and as I remember, you kind of handled them.
Chad: No, no, you started yelling at them in Spanish. I don't think anybody understood a damn word you were saying, but they--they got the message.
Gabi: I was mad. I was mad.
Chad: Yeah, you were. You were a fireball. [Laughs] Yeah, that was--that was the first time I asked you out. 'Cause you were strong. You should have been scared of them, but you weren't. That was the last time that I felt like a kid. I'm just--I'm an idiot. I don't know what happened.
Gabi: No, you were--
Chad: I was a jerk.
Gabi: You were not a jerk.
Chad: Yeah.
Gabi: You were very cool.
Chad: [Laughs] I was cool?
Gabi: Yeah.
Chad: Oh, god, I thought I knew all the answers.
Gabi: Yeah, well, we all did. And then life happens, and... grace happened.
Chad: Yeah.
Gabi: You know.
Chad: I know.
Gabi: It seems like such a long time ago.
Chad: Thank god for Thomas. You know? The reminder that I haven't lost everything.
[Pounding at door]
Gabi: Oh. Oh, it looks like we're gonna get out of the sauna.
Chad: Looks like we're saved. [Laughs]
Rafe: So, Mr. District Attorney, you want to tell me why you're following her?
Aiden: I wasn't.
Hope: Rafe.
Rafe: You weren't? Oh, really?
Aiden: Yeah.
Rafe: So all hell's breaking loose in the town. Your buddy Clyde's back, he's waving a gun around, and you just had a craving for clam chowder. Is that it?
Aiden: Hmm. I happened to be walking by, saw that hope was inside, thought I'd talk to her.
Rafe: Should have kept walking.
Aiden: I wanted her to know that I sent chase to Portland for therapy.
Rafe: That's great.
Aiden: Yeah, thought it would relieve some of the strain off of her and Ciara, knowing that he's gone, so--
Rafe: Oh, oh, okay. So that's why you're here.
Aiden: That's right.
Rafe: You're worried about the strain on Ciara.
Hope: Don't--
Rafe: No, what am I doing? Huh, what am I doing? I think I have a right to be here. He's the one who shouldn't be here, and I don't think he gives a rat's ass about the strain on Ciara.
Aiden: You better watch it.
Rafe: I should watch it? No, you should watch it, and you should stay away from her. I'm on to you. I don't buy your fake concern, and I don't buy the "new man" routine. The only thing that I do buy is, you're a bag of crap in an expensive suit.
Steve: You know who you remind me of? Hitler in the bunker, frothing at the mouth.
Orpheus: Gag him.
Steve: Wait, wait, wait, wait. Lackeys, listen. Just one more question. Did you ever ask yourselves why you met this master criminal in prison? Because he's a lousy master criminal!
Orpheus: I told you to shut him up!
Steve: [Laughs]
Kayla: [Screaming]
Theo: I feel so stupid. I shouldn't have locked the door.
Claire: Look, Theo, you were taking care of the kids. And there are crazy people with guns out there. You did exactly the right thing.
Theo: Yeah, but I was scared.
Claire: Come on. Everyone was scared. It's not how you feel that matters. It's what you did.
[Gentle music]
Claire: You did great.
Theo: Thank you.
Gabi: Thanks.
Chad: How's Thomas?
Lucas: He's fine. He's with Adrienne.
Chad: Okay. Are you okay?
JJ: Seems like things got pretty hot in here, huh?
Gabi: Yeah.
JJ: Are you okay?
Gabi: Yeah, thanks to you. Thank you. I need to get a little bit of air.
JJ: Okay, yeah.
Gabi: Okay.
[Unsettled music]
Hope: Stop. That's it.
Rafe: What?
Hope: You need to believe that I can handle this. All right? Don't make it worse--
Rafe: Okay. Okay, I won't. I just really hate him.
Hope: It's good that chase is gone, and Aiden says he's leaving soon. Hey.
Rafe: Hmm?
Hope: You have nothing to worry about.
Rafe: Right.
Hope: We're gonna be fine.
Rafe: Mm-hmm.
Hope: Aiden, thank you so much for telling me about chase.
Aiden: Yeah.
Iden: Okay.
Rafe: Bye.
Kayla: [Crying softly]
Steve: [Gasps]
Kayla: Oh, my god. Oh, my god, you're okay. Oh, my god. [Crying] Orpheus said he was just gonna leave me here with your corpse, like with his wife. Oh, my god. My god, my god.
Steve: Okay.
Kayla: Are you okay?
Steve: I'm okay.
Kayla: Oh, my god. [Crying]
Steve: Are you all right?
Kayla: Yeah.
Steve: Get this--this off. Okay. It'll be okay. I'm so sorry.
Kayla: [Crying]
Steve: [Coughs]
Kayla: Oh, god.
Steve: Oh, god, Kayla. Where's Joe?
Kayla: They took him. [Crying] They took him.
