Victor: Thank you for everything, john.

John: Yeah, um. Got a second?

[Ominous music]

Theresa and Brady's wedding is tomorrow. I expect you will find time to fix things with him by then?

Victor: Tried that the last time you asked me. Wasn't interested.

John: Try harder.

Brady: Frank, I appreciate it. I owe you one.

Theresa: Your friend, he can do something?

Brady: Well, he said the rule is first come, first serve when it comes to civil ceremonies. But-- he said he would make sure that we made the cut.

Theresa: Yeah?

Brady: Yeah, so if you-- I mean, if you want to do this--

Theresa: No, yeah, hell yeah. That is what I want.

Brady: You do?

Theresa: That's definitely...

Brady: All right. Then I will see you at city hall at 4:30.

[Heartwarming music]

Theresa: God, every time I think about us saying our vows, I feel like I'm gonna start crying--

Brady: Don't. [Laughs] Hey, don't--no. No crying. There's no crying. Don't make me kiss those tears away.

Theresa: Oh, actually, I--I feel a little choked up right now.

Brady: Are you-- are you upset? Are you sad, you sad?

Theresa: [Giggles]

Nicole: Aw. Lovebirds. Wedding night is supposed to come after the "I do's". [Chuckles]

Adrienne: Wow. Anybody ever tell you you look just like my brother Steve?

Steve: Oh, Adrienne, I--

Adrienne: Three. Let's count them, yes. One, two, three missed lunches. Three times you blew me off, dude.

[Somber music]

Steve: Yeah. Blowing people off, that's my specialty.

Adrienne: Hm.

Steve: I'm--I'm sorry. Come here.

Adrienne: Mm-mm.

Steve: Come on.

Adrienne: Mm-mm.

Steve: Come on.

Adrienne: Okay. [Giggles] Aw. Hey. Hey?

Steve: Mm-hmm?

Adrienne: That's not the best big brother hug I've ever had. What's going on with you?

Steve: I'm freaking out, baby sister.

[Dramatic music]

Steve: I'm really freaking out.

Chad: So you're not gonna be with Lucas and Adrienne for very long. Okay?

[Tender music]

I'm gonna come-- I'm gonna come see you all the time. I promise you that, okay, buddy? Okay? We're gonna make sure you have all your favorite stuff packed up. Music box and your little fluffy the dog. I'll make sure Adrienne knows that you don't even think about going to sleep without old fluffy.

Laura: All right, baby. I know what you must be going through. I was hoping that I could put your mind at ease.

[Dramatic music]

Jennifer: Put my mind at ease?

Laura: I have some news.

Jennifer: Can you tell me that JJ was wrong? Can you tell me that my little girl didn't go down in that airplane? No, of course you can't. And I am telling you right now, mom, if I didn't have JJ and Thomas, I would fall apart. And this time, I would stay that way.

Laura: This time? Honey, what are you talking about?

[Dramatic music]

Chad: What are you doing here?

Andre: You've suffered a terrible loss. And what matters more at times like this than family?

[Dramatic music pounds]

Jennifer: After the accident when-- when Daniel died and Eric-- Eric was responsible for...

Laura: I know ho-- that you cared for both of them.

[Somber music]

Jennifer: Well, I-- I discovered that, uh, the one thing that made me feel like I could function were these pills that I was taking for my back.

Laura: Oh, honey.

Jennifer: I know, I know, and I never-- I never thought I could become dependent on something, but I was.

Laura: Sweetheart, I'm so sorry. Is that why you wouldn't let me come back when Abigail disappeared?

Jennifer: It's just that every time I thought about her, I... mom, she is in such torment. She was fighting for her sanity. But she lost 'cause she ran away from everyone. She ran away from her-- her baby because she thought we were the enemy and that we didn't love her and--

Laura: No.

Jennifer: Yes! She--she spent the last days of her life with total strangers.

Laura: Jennifer, you have to stop this. Sweetheart, you're torturing yourself. You did everything that you could.

Jennifer: What are--you don't know that, mom.

Laura: Yes, I do know that. That's why I'm here.

Jennifer: What are you talking about?

Laura: The state that you said Abigail was in-- you thought that she was the way I was for so long, right?

Jennifer: Yes.

Laura: She wasn't. Not at all.

Kayla: You know, I don't know what I was thinking. Steve's not a therapy kind of guy. I mean, he said he would go, but he didn't mean it. He was just telling me what he thought I wanted to hear. I am forcing him out of his comfort zone and it is not my job to force him to do anything.

Marlena: What's your job?

Kayla: [Sighs]

Marlena: To love?

Kayla: You know, loving Steve Johnson is a full-time job.

Marlena: Love is work.

Kayla: I get that. But does he?

Marlena: For what it's worth, I think you're gonna make it.

Kayla: [Scoffs] When?

Marlena: Sooner than you think. You'll find an answer. And when you do, it will be the right one.

Adrienne: Great. So you skipped out on couples' therapy at the last minute because you were freaking out.

Steve: Yeah.

Adrienne: Why the freak-fest?

Steve: [Sighs] I--I don't--I don't really know. I guess I need a psychiatrist to tell me that, and I didn't go.

Adrienne: Hello. No, seriously, wake up in there. Push past your resistance, you big dummy. You think getting help is weak? Well, get over yourself. You're too old for that crap.

Steve: Did you just conk me on the head and call me a big dummy?

Adrienne: Mm-hmm.

Steve: What are we, 9 years old again?

[Gentle music]

Adrienne: I know you. And I love you. I live with my failed marriage every day. And it's not fun, but there's nothing I can do about it. But you can do something about it. Steve, please, face your fears. Get Kayla back. She's your soul mate. Best thing that ever happened to you. And you know what? This may be your last chance. So don't blow it.

Andre: You may have many reasons to reject what-- what I'm about to say, but I'm gonna say it anyway.

Chad: Surprise, surprise.

[Ominous music]

Andre: I want us to be closer. I want to do whatever I can to help you.

Chad: What's in it for you? 'Cause I know you, I know you've got an angle.

Andre: No angle. People come and go in one's life. But family, that's forever.

Jennifer: Abigail had post-traumatic stress disorder?

Laura: I believe she did.

Jennifer: No--I mean, the doctors at shady hills, they never even mentioned that.

Laura: Honey, I-- I checked into her treatment at shady hills.

[Somber music]

Laura: For some reason-- I mean, they seem to under-diagnose PTSD at that facility. I don't know why, I mean, maybe it's their philosophy. And they were giving Abigail medications, anxiety medications that can worsen the symptoms of PTSD. Honey, the world that she knew was an unsafe place for her. That's why she ran. She wasn't running from you. She wasn't running to anything in particular. She was just running. And she never, sweetheart, stopped loving you. And she did not die believing that you didn't love her.

Jennifer: Oh, god.

Laura: Sweetheart, I know that in her own way, she was, she was trying to find a way back to you. Please, sweetheart, believe that. I promise you it's the truth.

[Pensive music]

Steve: [Sighs]

Hey. What are you doing here? Not working?

Kayla: I--I just want a little time alone.

Steve: Okay. You want to be alone.

Kayla: I don't want to fight with you.

Steve: [Sighs] I don't want to fight either. Want to sit down? You look kind of tired.

Kayla: Yeah, I am. I'm not gonna lie.

Steve: Do you want to talk?

Kayla: You know, I'm not gonna make a big deal about you not showing up at Marlena's. You don't want to drag out our dirty laundry for her. She's a friend.

Steve: That's only part of it. I don't want to look at it. I mean, this brain under a microscope? It's not gonna be a pretty sight.

Kayla: So what do we do? Give up on us?

Steve: I'll never give up on us.

Deimos: I have a proposal for you.

Victor: OH. Now there's a phrase that's gotten me in trouble many times in the past.

Deimos: Listen, I know you and I will never trust each other. I've had way too many years of experience with you to accept that fact. But I'd still like you and Maggie to move back into this house so she can recuperate in familiar surroundings.

[Ominous music]

Victor: You want us to move in? With you?

Deimos: Yeah. That's right. Hey, if it makes you feel any better, think of it as keeping your enemies closer.

Theresa: Okay, I'll see you later at TBD. I love you. [Exhales] Oh, god. Good thing you showed up when you did because I have so much for you to do and I'm really counting on you and-- well. [Laughs] Come a long way, haven't we?

Nicole: Yes. Who'd've thunk it? Listen, I know we're not family, but I really do feel--

Theresa: No, hey, no, we are. We are in my heart. And in Brady's. And in Tate's.

Nicole: Get over here.

Theresa: [Laughs]

Nicole: [Giggles] Mmm.

Chad: Look, you've, uh, you've said what you came to say. And I appreciate that. I'm having a really rough day so if you wouldn't mind, could you just let--

Jennifer: I--I'm so sorry. Harold thought that you were alone.

Andre: Oh, hello, Laura. It's been a long time.

Laura: Not long enough.

Chad: Is this-- is this your mother?

Jennifer: Yes. Uh, mom, this is Chad, this is Abigail's husband.

Chad: Dr. Horton, it's--

Laura: I only agreed to come here so that I could see my great-grandson.

[Dramatic music]

Chad: Right. He's, uh, he's in the nursery down the hall, the door should be open.

Laura: Thank you.

Chad: You didn't tell me your mother was coming to visit.

Jennifer: I didn't know. She just showed up. She said she had something to tell me. She was able to go through Abigail's records at shady hills and she believes that Abigail was misdiagnosed there.

Chad: What?

Jennifer: She believes that Abigail was suffering from-- from PTSD. And--and--and-- and she knew that that would just be such a comfort to us, you know?

Chad: Why?

Jennifer: Because, Chad, it means that she wasn't running away from us. And she knew, she knew how much we loved here and it means that she wasn't like my mom was, that her condition was not the result of heredity and that is so important for Thomas.

Chad: Doesn't bring her back though.

Jennifer: No, it doesn't. But I--I just think that maybe someday that that'll help us explain to Thomas what happened to his mother.

Chad: Yeah, and I've got to do what's right for Thomas as he grows older, so...

Jennifer: Yeah. And that's why I'm so grateful that you agreed to let Adrienne and Lucas just have him for awhile, you know, so that we can--we can right ourselves in the middle of all... Chad, I--I said--

Chad: No, I-- I heard you.

Jennifer: You're sounding like you're having second thoughts.

Chad: Look, I know what I agreed to do. But when I was holding my son earlier, I don't think I can give my son to anyone, like, ever.

Jennifer: Can we have some privacy, please?

Andre: Oh. Of course.

[Tender music]

Steve: Listen, uh, I--I don't mean to send you mixed signals. It's just, I-- I--I'm all over the place right now. I mean, I was talking to Adrienne earlier, I actually told her I was freaking out. I mean, I actually used those words.

Kayla: Yeah. Brothers and sisters can help us regress, can't they? I was talking to Kimberly on the phone the other day, and I confessed that I was buggin'.

Steve: Oh.

Kayla: I don't even know what that means.

Steve: Well, it's not good. You think, uh, we'll ever be able to use words like "chill?" "Awesome." Hell, I'd even settle for "bitchin'."

Kayla: And "we're happy." I wonder what that would feel like.

Steve: That would feel right. That should be our goal. It's my goal. And I mean it this time.

[Tapping]

Marlena: I was stunned to get your message. What do you want?

[Wily music]

Clyde: Well, here's the deal. I get no privileges, I mean, none. No matter where they put me. But if I could get a better psych eval, that could get the boot off my neck, so to speak.

Marlena: And you think I would do that for you?

Clyde: I know that you could.

Marlena: I could evaluate you, yes. But there's no guarantee that things would tilt the way you'd like them to.

Clyde: Just a minute there, doctor. We're not through yet.

Nicole: You really asked Maggie and Victor to move back in?

Deimos: Yeah, that's right. I'm hoping the man Victor was all those years ago is not the man he is today. I just don't want to hate him anymore.

Nicole: I don't get it. What happened?

Deimos: You.

Nicole: Me?

Deimos: Mm-hmm.

Nicole: Oh, please. I'm the original "get even" girl.

Deimos: What can I say? When I'm with you, I can't even think about hating anybody.

Nicole: I actually think you mean that.

Deimos: Well, if you believe anything I say, that puts you in a very select group.

Nicole: Hmm, well, I make my own mind up about people.

Deimos: I'm sure you do.

Nicole: Mm-hmm.

Deimos: But that doesn't mean I'm gonna be a boy scout, I hope you realize that.

Nicole: Oh, I know.

Deimos: Which is why I'm sure someone is trying to make it look like I kidnapped Brady's son.

[Electronic ringing]

Deimos: Excuse me. [Clears throat]

Nicole: Did you talk to Victor about that?

Deimos: Yes, I did. He's hired john black to investigate this drug dealer named Titus drew.

Nicole: I remember that name from my reporting days.

Deimos: Really?

Nicole: Yeah.

Deimos: Well, I had some dealings with him. So did Victor.

Nicole: What kind of dealings?

Deimos: It's not important. It's in the past.

Nicole: Mm.

Deimos: I'm just telling you because john seems to think that he may lead us to whoever's trying to set us up.

[Romantic music]

Nicole: Well, um, what if I used my reporting skills on your behalf?

Deimos: You would do that?

Nicole: Absolutely.

Deimos: That would be great.

Nicole: I'll get right to work.

Deimos: Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Come here.

Nicole: My goodness. For a man who's a suspect in a kidnapping, you're in a pretty good mood.

Deimos: Well, it must be the company I keep.

Nicole: [Chuckles]

[Door closes]

[Dramatic music]

Victor: Brady, I know you saw me. Can we talk?

Brady: Why? I know what we're gonna talk about. I'm going to accuse you of kidnapping my son. You're gonna say you didn't do it. Can I go now?

Victor: No, just stay for a little bit. I have more for you than just a simple denial.

[Dramatic music]

Jennifer: Chad, I thought that we agreed that it would be best for Thomas to stay with Adrienne and Lucas right now.

Laura: That little boy is a piece of heaven. Is anything wrong?

Jennifer: We just need to talk privately right now.

Laura: All right. Well, it's a good thing we brought two cars, huh?

Jennifer: Yeah.

Laura: All right, darling. I'll see you back at the house.

Jennifer: Okay.

Chad: Dr. Horton, I'll hope you be in Salem for a while so I-- she hates me.

Jennifer: Like most people in this town, she's had some pretty unpleasant dealings with your family.

Chad: I'm not gonna let my son leave this house.

Jennifer: Chad--

[Footsteps approach]

Lucas: I, uh, think we showed up at a bad time.

Adrienne: Oh.

Chad: What are you doing here?

Jennifer: I called them to--

Chad: So you're just gonna make those decisions no matter what I say?

Clyde: You're so slick.

[Wily music]

Clyde: Think you got all the answers, don't you? That you, uh, control the whole game?

Marlena: Well, I'm not sure what the game is, but as far as control goes, you have none of that in here. So I can understand how you might feel a little of jealous of people that have their freedoms.

Clyde: Jealous? Let me tell you, I'd rather be stuck here in this hellhole than have to deal with the good people of Salem.

Marlena: That's so interesting. I'll make sure I write that up and put that in your evaluation.

Orpheus: Hey, that looked just like...

Clyde: The devil?

Orpheus: Yeah. Yeah, something like that. What's your name?

Clyde: Clyde. Clyde Weston. Yours?

Orpheus: My name is Milo harp, but I used to be known as "Orpheus."

[Cymbal shimmers]

Victor: You know I made a promise to your mother that I would always take care of you.

Brady: [Clears throat] Here we go again.

Victor: If you believe that I took your boy, then you believe I was conning her when I made that promise.

Brady: You know, bringing my mother into this, that's a pretty cheap shot, even for you.

Victor: I'm not playing by any rules. I'll do whatever I have to to make you believe me. Now, I know you looked at the facts, and you think you've come to the only conclusion, but you're being suckered by the people that took Tate--

Brady: 'Cause I can be suckered, because I'm-- I'm gullible. I've always been gullible. Right?

Victor: I want you to forget the facts and take a leap of faith. I want you to believe in me and my love for you and for your boy.

Steve: Look, the problem isn't with us. It's me. I mean, Adrienne said that, uh, I didn't want to ask for help because I would think it was weak. And I admit that's-- that's part of it. But if I don't ask for help, and it means losing you, I'll take the help.

Kayla: I can't make these decisions for you. You are gonna have to figure it out for yourself. I know you want to change. But changing your career path isn't the answer. I don't want you to be something that you're not. I just want to see you stop running from yourself. And whether you do that or not is completely up to you. But I cannot nag anymore. I cannot complain. I'm done.

Steve: I know.

Kayla: Well. Good luck with all that.

Steve: Hey, so-- listen. I'm gonna handle this. I'm gonna find someone to talk to who's not a personal friend, who's not Marlena, and I--I'll try that for a while, see how that goes. Okay?

Kayla: Sounds good.

Steve: And I'll work hard, I promise.

Kayla: It all sounds really good. But I have to say, uh, I'll believe it when I see it.

[Dramatic music]

My belly pain and constipation? You have kids. You know how hard it is for--for me to just say, like, "yes, please, take my son. I'll see you when I can." I mean, what would you do in my position?

Adrienne: We could move in here.

Lucas: [Chuckles] Sorry, excuse me for a second. We could what, where? Did you just say "move in here?"

Adrienne: Yeah, yeah. Oh, calm down. It's a perfect solution.

Lucas: Inviting more DiMeras into your life is never a good solution, honey. It's usually a problem, a big problem. So I say no. Hell no.

Adrienne: Lucas, you listen to me and you listen hard. It's not about you, baby. It's about Thomas. We could all love on him while we get through our grief.

Lucas: You're serious, aren't you? You really want me to live in this house?

Adrienne: Jennifer's your sister. Thomas is your grand-nephew. Lucas, this is where he lives. We're family. Doesn't family mean anything to you?

Lucas: Whoa--whoa-- wait a minute. Don't do that. And don't--don't get all teary eyed on me. I hate when you do that. You know I can't say no to anything when you cry. Please, stop, for me. All right, whatever you want. Just don't cry, okay?

Adrienne: Kay. This is why I love him.

[Tender music]

Jennifer: What do you say? Can this work for you?

Chad: Yeah. That I'm okay with.

Clyde: So you know the venerable dr. Evans, do you?

Orpheus: Well, it's been a long time since she and I crossed paths. But I knew her intimately.

[Dramatic music]

Orpheus: I just wish I'd recognized her sooner. I would love to have said hi. You know, catch up. I never dreamed I'd be seeing the one person I hate more than anyone in the world.

Clyde: Well then. We have something in common.

Orpheus: I'm recently transferred here, and, uh, I'm sure they're gonna move me again soon. But it is an exquisite kind of torture to be this close to Salem and yet find myself stuck behind bars.

Clyde: So tell me, what would you do if you weren't stuck behind bars?

Orpheus: I'd kill everyone in Salem.

We all need a hug in the morning...

Steve: Hey, sweetness, I did it. Have you ever heard of, uh, dr. Strauss? Dr. Carmine Strauss? I got an appointment with him. And I think I've already figured out what my issue is.

Kayla: That was quick.

Steve: Well, yeah, well, I--I haven't talked to him yet, but, um, they made me fill out this--this, uh, really detailed form, all these personal questions. And, I read it over before I turned it back in and I saw a pattern.

[Dramatic music]

Steve: There were all these questions about my childhood. Got me thinking about duke and everything he did to me and Adrienne. And it really brought home to me that the way I am and everything I do now-- living on the edge and-- and--and the dangerous jobs, all of that-- it's nothing but the flip side of lousy self-esteem.

Kayla: No kidding.

Steve: You knew that? Why didn't you ever say anything?

Kayla: Would you have listened?

Steve: No, probably not. So, look, I--I have the appointment with him next week. And, um, after that I was wondering if we could press the reset button on us.

Kayla: The reset? [Scoffs]

Steve: You know.

Kayla: I don't, actually. Why don't you figure it out? Get back to me.

[Cymbal shimmers]

Lucas: So, I mean, after we get to know Thomas a little and he gets to know us, we could take him out of the house, right? Maybe go to the park?

Chad: You got a car seat?

Lucas: Oh yeah. [Chuckling] Got a granddaughter. Yeah-- she doesn't use it that much, but-- I didn't give it up so I have it, we're good.

Adrienne: You know what, we'll check in with the nanny and figure out what time to bring him back, okay?

Chad: Okay.

Lucas: Yeah, we'll need that.

Adrienne: It's gonna be okay.

[Tender music]

Chad: [Sighs]

Jennifer: I know how hard this was for you. Thank you. Thank you so much.

Chad: Think your mom will like me a little bit more now?

Jennifer: [Laughs] It's okay. It doesn't even make a difference.

[Wily music]

Andre: I may have some good news. I happened to be at the right place at the right time today. I think I may have found someone that can turn out to be our ally.

Brady: How do you explain the pill that I found on your living room carpet?

Victor: Planted there to incriminate me.

Brady: What about Theresa? Your hatred for her, has that changed? I mean, are you finally ready to give us your blessing?

Theresa: Hey. What's going on?

Brady: Nothing's going on. I'm done; I'm finished.

Victor: I was hoping that wasn't so. Really.

[Ominous music]

Theresa: Hey, Brady. Are you okay?

Brady: No, I mean, yeah. He wants me to believe that he had nothing to do with what happened to Tate. And I--I can't do it. But I am getting married to you. And what I do know is that he will not be there.

Deimos: Great, you're back. I was just upstairs trying to figure out where everyone would stay if Victor takes me up on my offer.

Nicole: Well luckily this place is huge.

Deimos: Oh, I'm sure we'll still have plenty of privacy.

Nicole: We?

Deimos: Well, I'm hoping you remember that I made an offer to you too?

Nicole: Well, to be honest, I--I wasn't really thrilled with that idea.

Deimos: And why is that?

Nicole: Sitting across the breakfast table from Victor every morning of my life? No, I'm sorry. It's not gonna happen.

Deimos: Well, I did say it was your choice, right?

Nicole: Well, I do have something that might put you back in a good mood.

Deimos: Really?

Nicole: Mm-hmm.

Deimos: And what's that?

Nicole: Talked to one of my old sources about Titus drew.

[Odd thud]

[Ominous music]

Deimos: Oh, I'm sure it's just one of the maids.

Nicole: Do you think that'll help?

Deimos: Help?

Nicole: Mm-hmm?

Deimos: Are you kidding? That could be the missing piece that blows this thing wide open.

John: Clyde actually thought that you were gonna give him a positive evaluation?

Marlena: After all we've been through, can you even believe that?

John: No. But, you know what, I don't even care. I don't want to talk about Clyde Weston. He's really a non-issue. What I want to do is just focus on you.

[Romantic music]

All right. Us.

Orpheus: A pipe dream? Now, why would you think that?

Clyde: Well, isn't it obvious? I mean, it's one thing to plot revenge on your enemies if you're not stuck in a hellhole like this, but we're a little impotent here.

Orpheus: I never much cared for that word.

[Suspenseful music]

Clyde: So tell me, why do you hate Marlena Evans so much?

Marlena: Are you thinking of letting me go? Please let me go.

Orpheus: Oh, I'll-- I'll tell you someday, perhaps. But in the meantime, why don't we look for an opportunity to make our dreams of revenge a reality?

[Dramatic music]
