Aiden: You know, for what it's worth, I'm not very happy about doing this. Just so happens I need the money because my son--

Kate: Okay, that's-- that's too much information. I got what I want. You got what you want.

Aiden: Not yet. No one knows about this. This is a one-time thing. No follow-ups.

Kate: Trust me, I have a lot more to lose than you do if we are exposed.

Aiden: Good luck.

[Phone ringing]

Ciara: Hey, Mom. How's the island?

Hope: Actually, Sweetheart, I'm um--I'm back in town. Are you at the mansion?

Ciara: Yeah, but, um, I'm about to leave. Thomas has an appointment with the pediatrician.

Hope: Right, uh, will you text when you get back? I need to talk to you.

Ciara: Sure. What's going o over the phone.

Ciara: Mom, is everything okay?

Hope: It will be. Hey, we'll talk soon. I love you.

Roman: You're back.

Hope: I am.

Roman: Kind of soon.

Hope: I know.

Roman: Does that mean you've figured things out? Or you just quit trying?

Aiden: Rafe. Hey, um, have you heard anything from Hope?

Rafe: No, not today. Uh, why?

Aiden: Uh, well, first of all, I'm sorry, because I know this has to be a difficult situation for you.

Rafe: Well, I think you're the one with the situation. How's Chase doing?

Aiden: Uh, well, he's coming along, thanks, but, um, I was talking about Hope, actually, with her going out of town?

Rafe: Excuse me?

Aiden: Oh, you didn't know that? I'm sorry, I thought you would have known that--yeah, she just left town for a few days. Wanted to be by herself, think things through.

Rafe: Mm-hmm.

Aiden: Decide whether or not she's gonna give me a second chance.

Dario: Whoa. No, I'm not celebrating. I'm fortifying.

Nicole: tering on some courage.

Dario: Because...

Nicole: Because there's good news and there's bad news. The good news is Deimos disappeared, and people are starting to think he's dead.

Dario: Wait a minute, Nicole. If that's the good news, then--

Nicole: And the bad news is if they find proof Deimos is dead, then they're going to arrest me for murder. Ha!

[Eerie music]

Rafe: Well, Hope's been through a lot lately, so--

Aiden: Yeah.

Rafe: Yeah, it makes some sense that she would take time to figure things out.

Aiden: And you'll support her no matter what, right?

Rafe: Yeah, of course. You know, listen, I know that you've been through some hard times lately. Well, being abducted and held prisoner, and there was that whole, uh, attempted murder on your wedding night--

Aiden: Yeah, that wasn't me.

Rafe: Yeah, I know. That was proven. But my point is--

Aiden: Right.

Rafe: I know you're still under a lot of pressure. Chase is in the hospital, and I heard you've got some financial troubles, so--

Aiden: Okay, all right. Okay. All right. All right. Like making a list of my problems, don't you?

Rafe: No, my point is: my first concern is Hope. My only concern is Hope. So if I find out t her, or manipulated her--

Aiden: That's not gonna happen.

Rafe: Yeah. Because if I do, I'm gonna come find you, and I'm gonna deal with you.

Aiden: Well, always appreciate a good threat. Still don't trust me, do you?

Rafe: Still don't have reason to.

Nicole: Deimos is definitely missing. Supposedly, he disappeared into the river, and because had a fight with him, I'm suspect number one.

Dario: They arrested you?

Nicole: Sort of. Roman hauled me in, but they had to let me go, and I hired Belle Black to stick up for me. And I was told not to leave town or they promised to shoot me as I was crossing the city line.

Dario: Okay. Okay, let's--let's get serious here for--

Nicole: I am serious.

Dario: I--I hate to put it out there like this, but... did you do it?

Nicole: No! I did not. I already told you: I shoved him away, and then I left.

Dario: I had to ask. You want me to give you an alibi? I could say you were with me.

Nicole: [Sighs] That's very sweet. That's not gonna work. Because what I didn't tell you is there's a witness.

Dario: Who?

Nicole: Kate Roberts. And not only did she follow me down to the river, but she got the fight on her cell phone.

Dario: Well, that's a good thing, right?

Nicole: No. Kate conveniently dropped her phone after I shoved him away. Oh, no, she didn't--she didn't get me walking away, she just got the fight. And I really lost it, believe me. And now, the cops have a video of my motive.

Hope: So Deimos is officially missing.

Roman: Nice evasion.

Hope: I'm not avoiding the question. I need to talk to Rafe and Aiden before I can--

Roman: Before you... spill your guts to me? I get that. I understand that.

Hope: Thank you. So, Deimos.

Roman: MIA. Kate is a grieving widow, Nicole is a person of interest, and something smells really, really bad about this whole damn thing.

Hope: Yeah, no kidding.

Roman: Yeah.

Rafe: Hey, Hope.

Hope: Hey.

Rafe: Hey. Didn't expect to see you so soon. [Phone ringing] Thought you'd left town for a few days.

Roman: Brady.

Hope: Yeah, I, um... You know, after we talked in the Horton Square, I decided that you were absolutely right, and that I needed some time. I had to figure some things out. So I went out to Smith Island.

Rafe: Well, you didn't stay long.

Hope: No.

Rafe: Well... Um...

Hope: Let's go for a walk, okay? Come on.

Rafe: Okay.

Dario: Maybe you should have some breakfast to go with that gallon of champagne.

Nicole: It's weird how similar it all is, you know?

Dario: What is?

Nicole: What happened to me, what happened to Deimos when he was with Helena, that woman I look like. He was accused of pushing her to her death, swore it was a lie, and wound up spending the next 30 years of his life in prison. I wonder how long I'll get if Kate's lie about me holds up.

Dario: You think it will?

Nicole: I don't know. I'm more the glass-half-empty kind of person.

Dario: Why would she try to pull off some bogus story like that? I mean, I get it: she's crazy about Deimos' money, and he was ready to dump her in a heartbeat if you played nice, but she really hates you that much, to try to pull off some wild story like that?

Nicole: See, I was thinking the same thing. I wouldn't be surprised if Kate killed the bastard herself.

Dario: That would make sense. I mean, if she did it, then he's gone for good. Why would she spend all this time trying to frame you if Deimos would show up any minute?

Kate: Good morning.

Roman: Kate.

Kate: Have you recovered Deimos' body?

Roman: No. No trace.

Kate: No other news.

Roman: Actually, we do have news. We got a forensics report back from the area where you filmed the fight between Nicole and Deimos. There was actually blood on a tree down by the river, and it did match Deimos.

Kate: I could have told you that--

Roman: Of course you could, Kate, of course you could. But now, we can actually prove there was a definite scuffle down there that night.

Kate: There wasn't a scuffle. There was a fight. There was a full-blown fight. Nicole pushed him into the river! Don't tell me you're gonna let that woman get away with murder, Roman! [Sighs] [Dramatic music]

Aiden: Hey. Shh. Shh.

Rafe: Well, it sounds like one hell of a dream.

Hope: It was. It was so real. And powerful. You know, I went out there thinking that I'd lost control again. Of my life.

Rafe: Well, anyone would feel that way. You know, you've been through so much. But you're too strong to let it destroy you.

Hope: That's what... Bo said in my dream. You're always right there. No matter what. My rock. And I've put you through so much, Rafe. Rafe: Hey. I would do it all again. But that's not gonna happen, is it?

Rafe: It's okay. It's okay. Hey... I get it. You got to follow your heart. Yeah...

Hope: I don't know where this will lead me. [Sighs] I don't know where any of this is going with Aiden. But I did love him. I married him. Then I hated him. I have to see where this goes. I have to see it through. I have to. So I can move on with my life. To see if we can get back what we lost because of Stefano. Or to find out that we never can.

Rafe: You got a second chance, you got to take it.

Hope: [Sobs] I don't know if it's a second chance. I don't know what it is. But what I do know is that, um... you're there for me. Every time. Couldn't have made it without you, Rafe, I couldn't have. You know, we've always had this connection, you and me. I don't want to lose that.

Rafe: You never will.

Chase: [heavy breathing]

Aiden: Right here, buddy. Taken care of everything. So, I made some inquiries at Shady Hills. I got to tell you, I think that's the--the best place for you. Had a chance to meet some of the staff, it seems like they really do care, so... They also said they have a bed available. I just got to get court approval, and that will happen. Gonna help you get better. Then you're gonna be the Chase that you used to be. Don't you worry about the expense. 'Cause I got it covered. [Sad piano music]

Roman: [Chuckles] Kate, if you would stop making accusations, and just listen for a minute, I would finish telling you where we are.

Kate: Oh, by all means.

Roman: Okay, we dredged the river from Stony Point down to Pierson's Landing. No trace of a body.

Kate: Well, then you need to expand the search, Roman. She pushed him into the river. There is no way he could have survived that. If my husband was alive, he would have contacted me--

Roman: You know what? About that marriage. Yeah, um... I'm gonna need some proof. You know: time, place, who officiated. I would also like to see a marriage license.

Kate: Really?

Roman: Mm-hmm.

Kate: So that's how this goes? You can be absolutely thorough when it comes to my relationship with Deimos, but when you're investigating Nicole as the murderer--

Roman: Kate. Kate. Do you have the documents or not?

Kate: Fine, Roman. Just fine. They're in the desk at the mansion. till tomorrow? How about you and I go to the Kiriakis estate and you show me the documents now?

Nicole: Thanks, Judy. You're the best.

Dario: Did they find Deimos' body?

Nicole: Not that anyone in the newsroom heard.

Dario: Fine. No body, no case.

Nicole: Yeah, but it could still show up.

Dario: Okay. Okay, let's think about that. I mean, what do the cops have? Talk about thin--they got a video of you and Deimos fighting shot by a woman who hates you, which gives no clue to what happened after the footage ran out.

Nicole: True. True, but I still can't relax. Kate Roberts is one barracuda bitch. And those teeth come out in her smile right before she eats you. I mean, Deimos was a challenge. Okay, I admit that, but Kate?

Dario: She's got half a movie and no body.

Nicole: Yeah. Well, now she claims she's his wife.

Dario: Wait a minute. I thought that was supposed to happen tomorrow or something.

Nicole: Well, apparently not. She has the paperwork to prove it, she says. Oh, my God. groan, and cry herself a river--

Dario: All the way to the bank.

Nicole: Yeah, you got it.

Dario: Okay. What can I do to help?

Nicole: How good are you at bringing people back from the dead? [Dramatic music] s it. That's about all I can tell you right now. Aiden and I had a future, a chance at happiness, and that was taken away. Now we have a second chance. I was thinking that, well, maybe I should-- I should give it a chance. But Ciara, seriously, I mean this: if you're not okay with it, I will rethink the whole thing, forget the whole thing, whatever. The last thing I would ever want to do, baby, is hurt you. Cause you any more pain.

Dario: Mm-hmm. You should eat more.

Nicole: No, I'm fine. I only had a couple mimosas.

Dario: Uh, you had three after I got here.

Nicole: Okay? Or at least I will be if I ever stop worrying. Oh, God, I just, I-- I keep going over that damn fight I had with Deimos. I'm trying to remember if there's anything that could come back and bite me.

Dario: Maybe you should just let it go. it go? Have you been paying a If Deimos shows up dead, there's gonna be a huge investigation. Huge. I mean, they're--they're gonna dig up everything. They're gonna dig up everything on Deimos, everything on me-- especially how many times I told people that I wanted that bastard to pay for what he did to Maggie.

Kate: Why don't you get the door, and, uh, I'll find the key and I'll get back to you.

[Suspenseful music]

Roman: What are you doing, Kate?

[Dramatic music]

Deimos: [Grunting] Ah... Ah! Mm! Ah. Oh! [Heavy breathing] Ah! Oh! Mm! [Wincing]

Hope: No, it's okay. Say no more. I understand. I do.

Ciara: No, no. You don't understand. Look, I know that this is hard to talk about, but I'm not gonna say no. I mean, would I like it more if Rafe was the guy? Yeah. But this is about you being happy.

Hope: But Baby, I need to know if you're okay with it. I could never be happy--ever-- at your expense.

Ciara: Mom, I will be. Okay? Listen, I've been talking to Marlena about this, and living here with Chad and Thomas, it's given me, like, this whole new outlook on life. And I know that Aiden isn't responsible for what Chase did to me. So yeah. Go for it, Mom.

Roman: Apparently, you found your key.

Kate: Yeah. I did. Such a tiny little thing, and this is such a a wall safe put in. Anyway, here we go. We have the wedding certificate, we--oh, here, the receipt from the wedding chapel. Forever Elvis Wedding Chapel. Also, if you want to check the flight manifests. Okay.

Kate: [Sighs]

Roman: You never change. Do you, Kate?

Kate: What's that supposed to mean?

Roman: You know, when I was out there in the foyer, looking around, thinking of all the things that have happened in this old place. This was Victor and Maggie's home. Now you live here. So determined to prove that you're married to the man who crippled Maggie and bankrupted Victor.

Kate: Oh, my God--

Roman: Do you even have a sense of what's right, Kate?

Kate: Yeah, I do. It's somewhere out there with your sense of duty, because this isn't about me. And it's not about your opinion of me--this is about my

husband.be hurt. Who's probably dead. And you don't give a damn that Nicole Walker is responsible for it.

Nicole: You know, I just-- I just keep hoping that Deimos planned this whole thing. You know, that he's just gonna show up and yell, "Surprise!" He's love to see the look on my face, and Kate's face, Victor... He's cruel like that.

Dario: Yeah, somehow I doubt that's what's happening.

Nicole: Yeah, well, it wouldn't be any fun to face him anyway, you know, after that fight? He hates me. And he loves getting his revenge. I mean, look what he did to Victor. Scary.

Dario: Nicole? You need to focus.

Nicole: Yeah. Stick with the facts.

Dario: Mm-hmm. Nicole:

Deimos is missing, and Kate is trying to frame me for his murder.

Dario: Right, and the cops obviously aren't taking her word for it. And if you didn't do it, then there's no real proof.

Nicole: I got to go. uh, somewhere I have to be.

Dario: Nicole! [Sighs]

Kate: You could have read those three times over by now. What's the holdup?

Roman: Just being thorough.

Kate: Okay. Okay. Well, you can have them verified by experts at a later date. Clearly, right now, I am Mr. Deimos Kiriakis, and I need help. So, how am I going to get the-- the police department to move on this? Do I need to make out a missing persons report, or what?

Roman: He's already listed as missing. We put out an APB, we dredged the river, even had dogs lead a search party down by the river. There's not much more to do right now, Kate.

Kate: Well, maybe I need to hire a private investigator--

Roman: No, you don't. No. You let the police handle this.

Kate: Well, they're not. That's my point.

Roman: Kate. Let me tell you something. I hope to hell Deimos Kiriakis is okay--not because I like the man--I don't. But just because this whole scenario? It is just so damn bizarre. My take on it? This is going to end very ugly for somebody, maybe you. You have a nice day, Kate.

[Dramatic music]

Aiden: Hope.

Hope: Huh? Oh. Hey.

Aiden: Hi.

Hope: Hi. Thanks for coming to meet me.

Aiden: You kidding me? So happy to see you. So, were you able to sort things out?

Hope: I was. Yes. I... Please, sit down with me. I'll explain everything. Sit down.

Aiden: Yeah. [Suspenseful music]

Deimos: The ring is not for Kate. Not this one. This one... this one is way too important.

Nicole: You bought that for Helena.

Deimos: Mm-hmm. I was gonna give it to her that night. But Victor got to her before I could. When she died, I put it away. Couldn't even look at it. Not until... What was your endgame? Huh, Nicole? Tell me. Was it to--what--convince me to marry you? And then what? What, poison me? Cut my throat in my sleep?

Nicole: Of course not!

Deimos: Or maybe you thought you could push me down the same flight of stairs that Maggie fell down--

Nicole: Deimos! Please! You're hurting me!

Deimos: Just as long as you killed me, right? And inherited my money?

Nicole: [Screams]

Deimos: You think. Huh?

Nicole: [Screams] [gasps] Oh, my God. Dario, you scared me half to death. I thought you were the-- the cops, or--or Kate, or Victor, or...Deimos--

Dario: Hey, no. Sorry, I-- I was worried about you. Here. Supposed to rain. Nicole...

Nicole: [Sighs]

Dario: Your hands are shaking--seriously, I would never try to scare you. Not in a million years. Come here. Come here. Okay? Nobody's gonna hurt you. All right? Better?

Nicole: Yeah. I'm fine. Thank you--thank you for the umbrella. I'd like to be alone for a little while longer.

Dario: You sure? I mean, you-- you still look pale.

Nicole: I'm fine. Thank you, for... everything.

[Soft piano music]

[Eerie music]

Deimos: [Grunting] Hey.

Man: Whoa.

Deimos: Hey.

Man: What happened to you?

Deimos: Uh, nothing. Nothing. It's just... I took a fall. That's all. I'll be fine. I'm fine. I am.

Man: The hell you are. Let me call 9-1-1.

Deimos: That's very kind of you, okay, but I--I'm gonna be fine. I promise. Just--I need to make a call. Can I--can I please, please use your phone?

Man: No problem.

Deimos: Thank you. Thank you.

[Dramatic music]

Deimos: Hey. Hi, it's Robert. I need your help.

Roman: Rafe.

Rafe: Yeah.

Rafe: Fine. Great.

Hope: When we first got to know each other, I--well, as you know, I...had a lot of trouble accepting you. But then eventually, I came around, and-- well, we connected. And it was wonderful. And it looked like we were going to have a bright future together. Then it got taken away from us.

Aiden: Until now.

Hope: Maybe.

Aiden: Meaning...

Hope: I'm willing to try. To get back what we lost. Maybe we can't. I don't know, maybe we can't. But unless we try, we'll never know.

Aiden: You have no idea how happy this makes me. I promise you this: And it's gonna be wonderful. [nervous laughter]

Nicole: [Sighs] Deimos, where are you? And what the hell happened here? [Suspenseful music]

Deimos: I would have loved you like you've never been loved before. Passionate. Raw. Honest emotion. Not that simplistic, selfish crap you had with Daniel.

Nicole: I loved Daniel!

Deimos: Oh, please! You would have been bored within six months of marrying him. Playing the good wife. Having dinner ready on the table for hubby when he came home from work. The two of you sitting together on the couch, watching the latest dance competition on TV!

Nicole: That sounds wonderful, actually--

Deimos: But that isn't you, Nicole! And you know it! You settled.

Kate: I wanted love the same way you wanted Nicole to love you. But love makes fools of us all. And I'll keep looking for my king, and you'll keep looking for Helena, and we're both doomed to fail.

Deimos: Well, then, I guess we really do deserve each other, don't we? So what do you say? Maybe we should get on that flight to Vegas after all, huh? I mean, it's flashy, it's sexy, superficial, it's all about money, right? I'm sure you'll be right at home.

Deimos: Ooh! Ah!

[Dramatic music]

[Car wheels scraping]

[Car door opening]

Chloe: Oh, gosh. Come on. Oh, my--oh, my God. Come on. Okay. Here you go. Come on. One step at a time. Okay, we can do this. Okay, take it easy. All right.
