Will: I just want Paul Narita out of both of our lives.

Melanie: Hey, Brady, it's me. Hope you're feeling better. I know you didn't want anybody to know about what happened, but I hope you're resting like you said you would, and I'll know if you're cheating, 'cause I have spies. Um...[Giggles] I'll call you later, and I do, I hope you're feeling better. Eric! Hi!

Eric: Melanie. Hey, what's up?

Melanie: I'm gonna go see Serena, and I haven't forgotten about what we talked about.

[Phone rings]

Daniel: We shouldn't.

Nicole: You don't really think that, do you?

Daniel: What I think and what I feel are two different things.

Jennifer: Do you know what I still have, that you made me? A picture of me and Abigail, and it's on my fridge.

Eve: Hi, Maggie, Jennifer, and look at that! Aren't you the cutest thing I've ever seen?

Jennifer: Eve...

Eve: He's grown so big! Gosh, it just seems like yesterday Paige was that size and now she is all grown up with a whole new exciting life ahead of her. New school, new classmates, and a new beau! In fact, Jen, she is with him right now. [Giggles]

JJ: I can't wait, not even another minute. I've got to know. Can you forgive me?

Paige: JJ... I want to. I do.

JJ: Paige, you won't regret it, I swear to you.

Paige: There's something I need you to tell me first. And it has to be the truth.

Eve: I know I have sparked your curiosity about Paige's new beau. And she would kill me if she knew I was babbling about it, but this boy is just someone that she can be proud to date, you know? His name's Cole, and he's a real catch. Trustworthy, smart, and just the kind of guy that she deserves, you know?

Maggie: Parker, honey, it's time for us to go home. See you soon, Jen.

Jennifer: Was that fun for you?

Eve: Oh yeah, it was.

Jennifer: Well, here's a little news flash: As desperate as you are to keep Paige and JJ apart, they belong together, and it's gonna happen.

Eve: Oh, no, no, no, I'm not desperate about anything, and I got another news flash for you. You kind of suck at blackmail, because Paige wants nothing to do with JJ at all.

JJ: What? What do you--

Paige: JJ... I know you were sincere before. I could feel it.

JJ: So...

Paige: So I just need to know if there's anything that you left out, if you didn't say something. I mean, I know you think it'd be easier if we could just put it all behind us, but is there anything, anything about Roxanne or the way we broke up, anything at all that I should know?

JJ: If there was anything else I thought you should know, I'd tell you.

Nicole: Are you mad at me?

Daniel: No.

Nicole: Well, then I don't understand.

Daniel: This started one way, and ended... another way, just a different way, and... my mom is going to bring parker home soon, and I...

Nicole: Okay, that's fair.

Daniel: And another thing. I'm just not ready to do this again. Look, you wanted to shave me so people could see the real me. Well, I want to see the real you, too.

Nicole: Wait a minute. Does this have to do with Eric? Oh, Daniel, that's nuts! That's--that's nuts! Eric and I are over, we're over! You don't have anything to worry about! There's nothing to worry about. Daniel... Daniel, come on. This is ridiculous. It's ridiculous!

Melanie: Well, you asked me to help you convince Serena to not leave Salem...

Eric: Right.

Melanie: So, I mean, I figure I would just find her and corner her and tell her that she absolutely must not leave this beautiful, fabulous, you know, town filled with the most amazing people on the planet.

Eric: That would be great. It's a very persuasive argument. Yeah.

Melanie: You really do love her, don't you?

Eric: She makes that part easy. You know, with Serena, it's what you see is what you get.

[Phone rings]

Serena: Dude, why are you doing this? I don't--I don't have it, yet. I mean, did you really have to come and tear up my place? Don't you know that you can trust me?

Navidad: He doesn't trust you. And he's tired of waiting.

Sonny: Exactly how does having all this stuff around get Paul Narita out of our lives?

Will: I didn't know you were coming home, for one thing.

Sonny: And the other?

Will: I gave you the space you wanted, Sonny.

Sonny: What does that have to do with anything?

Will: While you were out there "thinking," I was here, driving myself crazy. So I took out all this stuff, I sat down with it, and I tried to figure things out.

Sonny: Figure what things out?

Will: What I'm up against.

Navidad: He told me to tell you to stop talking, and start doing. You're out of time.

Serena: Have to get this done tonight. I can't risk--

[Phone rings]

Serena: [Clears throat] Hey! Sorry that I had to cut out on you like that before.

Eric: It's okay, I was just checking in. And you're still meeting Mel, right?

Serena: Yeah, just about to leave.

Eric: Cool. You doing anything special?

Serena: That might be an understatement.

Daniel: [Sighs] What?

Nicole: You always lounge around in your scrubs?

Daniel: Ah, okay, a colleague needs me to take his shift. He just texted me.

Nicole: You're going to work?

Daniel: Well, I just told you that he texted me, so I--

Nicole: Okay, I just thought we'd hang out a little longer.

Daniel: I'm sorry. I'm really--I can't-- [Groans] Need to see if Melanie can sit with parker. Look, I am not trying to kick you out.

Nicole: But you are.

Daniel: Look, okay, how about--how about coffee in the morning? Sonny's place?

Nicole: Coffee, morning, ducky, can't wait.

Daniel: Nicole-- [Sighs]

Maggie: Oh!

Nicole: Oh, hi.

Daniel: Oh, my goodness! Whoa!

Maggie: Hi!

Nicole: I was on my way out.

Maggie: Don't let me keep you. Did you just shave? You look wonderful.

Nicole: Well, at least something got accomplished here.

Maggie: Am I supposed to know what that meant?

Jennifer: You couldn't just walk by me, just now.

Eve: Oh, would you get over yourself? I was looking at that adorable child just now.

Jennifer: Despite the fact that you are Paige's mother, she is smart and she has good sense, and I believe she's still in love with my son. So it's just a matter of time before they get back together and they're happier than ever.

Eve: Oh, my gosh, what planet are you living on? "Happier than ever"? They've never been happy at all. Your son treated my daughter like dirt from the get-go.

Jennifer: You do not want to walk down that road with me right now, eve.

Eve: Jennifer, listen to me. JJ may have talked about how much he loved Paige, used those big puppy dog eyes, all sweet and sappy... but when it came to us, it never once stopped him, not once.

Jennifer: You are wrong about him.

Eve: Hmm, well, one of us is. That's for sure.

JJ: Maybe that wasn't a good enough answer. Maybe there isn't an answer that I can ever give you that will ever be good enough. But I can tell you, if you give me the chance, I will never take you for granted again, and I will be the best boyfriend you can ever hope to have. And I know that guys say that when they want something, but that's not why I am. I swear, it's just the truth. You knew I was playing that song for you. You stayed and you listened to me play it. Will: You asked Paul to marry you before you asked me.

Will: But yeah--but the reason he had to say no, it's gone now. He's no longer hiding. He's out of the closet--

Will: I have been thinking about this for a long time.

Sonny: I'm getting that.

Will: And now you're home. Sonny, all I need is for you to tell me that I'm wrong to be paranoid about you and Paul.

[Door opens]

Lucas: Will, can you help me with the...door?

Sonny: Hi, baby! I've missed you so much.

Melanie: Who knew you had such smooth cheeks under there?

Daniel: Okay, okay. Clean-shaven is a winner, I get it, I get it.

Melanie: Yeah, what brought that on?

Daniel: Well, ah, Nicole did. And you know, do not start with me, please.

Melanie: No, I--it's obviously just, you know. You guys have been spending a lot of time together.

Daniel: Yeah, well, I'm finding out that we have different definitions of the word "slow."

Melanie: No!

Daniel: Yes.

[Knocking on door]

Melanie: That's Serena.

Daniel: Okay, thank you so much for watching parker--

Melanie: Yeah, of course! No, of course.

Daniel: All right, buddy.

Serena: Hey!

Melanie: Hello. My dad is going to go to work.

Serena: Oh, okay. Hi--hi, Daniel.

Daniel: Hey, Serena. Sorry I can't stay. Okay, you be good for your sister.

Parker: Yes.

Daniel: Yeah, all right. Okay, thank you. All right, thank you for the assist.

Melanie: Of course, of course--you got--um, Dad. [Laughs] So happy you could come over.

Serena: Thank you. Yeah, nothing could keep me away.

Nicole: Seriously, Daniel. There is no issue with Eric. I don't know--I don't know what else I can do.

Eric: You're--you're here alone?

Nicole: I, uh...

Eric: You want some company?

Nicole: Not yours.

Jennifer: Did you forget your--hi!

Daniel: Hi, I was on my way to work, I was right behind you the whole way, saw you pull in.

Jennifer: Coincidence.

Daniel: Yeah, yeah, it is. And I'm a little early, so I have a few minutes.

Jennifer: Oh! Come in, yeah, come on in.

Daniel: Yeah, I usually wouldn't just come over without calling, but since you don't seem to be getting any of my messages or my texts, or you're just...flat-out ignoring them, I decided that I would find out what's going on in person.

Eve: Hmm. Oh, no, no, no, I'd better not press my luck. Jennifer doesn't know what the hell she's talking about anyway. Paige is done with JJ. He's history.

[Sighs] Why did everything have to get so complicated?

JJ: Paige--

Paige: I have to go.

JJ: Now? But I thought--

Paige: Yeah, look. Okay, if we're going to start being honest with each other about everything, there's something I need to fix first.

JJ: Fix something?

Paige: Yeah, with Cole. I was supposed to be on a date with him tonight. I lied and said that I wasn't feeling well to get out of it and come to you. I have to make it right. I have to be honest, not just with you. Being honest, truthful, that's really important to me, especially now.

JJ: Okay, I get it.

Paige: Thank you.

JJ: Just promise me that you're not going to let anyone talk you out of us.

Paige: I won't.

JJ: Because this is not a mistake.

Paige: No. It's not and it's my decision to make.

JJ: It's ours.

Paige: I'm holding you to everything you said.

JJ: You can do that.

Paige: You think this can work, so I do, too. I'm willing to try.

JJ: Not going to have to try. It'll just be, Paige.

Paige: I still love you, JJ.

JJ: I love you too, Paige. More than ever.

Nicole: That did not come out the way I meant it.

Eric: You know what, there's another way to interpret it. You want company, just not mine.

Nicole: No, Eric, wait, wait. You've been a lot more open towards me lately, and I'm very grateful for that.

Eric: But?

Nicole: But it just seems... like there's always these complications.

Eric: Serena.

Nicole: Well, and Daniel. You know, if I could, I would undo all the mistakes I made with Serena and not because I was wrong about her, but because it's made things difficult with Daniel, too. So me bursting out just now, that's what this was all about, not you. It's a messy situation and I... I made it that way.

Eric: I'm sorry.

Nicole: Yeah. So am I. And I didn't mean to be such a bitch, it just comes so naturally sometimes, so... oh, my goodness, please, sit down. Let me buy you a drink, we'll catch up.

Eric: I'd like that.

Nicole: You're not meeting anyone, are you? Should I get another chair for Serena?

Eric: No.

Melanie: Would you give me a few minutes to get parker to bed?

Serena: Uh, yeah. No, of course, that's fine.

Melanie: All right, little man, come here, look at me! Bedtime! I will even let you choose the bedtime story, if you're good and get into your PJs really fast. Say bye! Say good-bye. [Laughs]

[Knocking on door]

Melanie: Serena, can you get that for me?

Serena: Yeah, of course!

Maggie: Oh! Sorry, I was-- are you--

Serena: Serena, yes. You must be Daniel's mom.

Maggie: I am.

Serena: Melanie showed me tons of pictures of you and her dad. She's very proud of you guys.

Maggie: We're very proud of her. It's nice to meet you finally.

Serena: Yeah, same. It's really nice to meet you, too. Melanie just put parker down, but--

Maggie: Oh, oh. Well, gee, I don't want to disturb them, but I-- oh, and I don't have to. I think I left my wallet in parker's backpack, and--

Serena: Oh, there you go.

Maggie: Oh!

Serena: And you found it!

Maggie: I'm so relieved.

[Both laugh]

Serena: Okay, so, um... well, it was really nice to meet you.

Melanie: Hey! You're back.

Maggie: I'm back. Well, no, um, I stupidly left my wallet in parker's bag.

Melanie: Gotcha.

Maggie: Yes.

Melanie: Well, I'm glad you found it, and I'm glad you guys were able to meet. You should stick around, hang out with us.

Maggie: Um... I don't want to intrude.

Melanie: No, you're not intruding, don't be silly. You guys can get to know each other, we'll have, like, a redhead girls' night.

Maggie: Oh! Well, that sounds like fun.

Serena: Yeah! Super fun.

Jennifer: You have been such a true friend, really, and you have been so wonderful to both of my children. I don't even know where JJ would be without your help. And I am in your debt.

Daniel: No, no, no, no, no. You don't owe me anything, Jen. I just--look, I want to continue to be your friend. I want to be there for you and your kids.

Jennifer: Okay, yes. That is so kind of you, it is, but I--

Daniel: But you--but what?

Jennifer: What, I--I should never have come to you in the first place for help, and you really need to let this go.

Maggie: Yeah, oh, yeah.

[Laughter]

Serena: Ooh, thank you.

Melanie: Oh... I'm so happy, I get to hang out with two of my most favorite people.

Maggie: Thank you, darling.

Serena: That is very sweet.

Melanie: And what's really great is that I am with two people that I can trust and completely confide in, you know, when things get hard. Like now. Not, you know--not "this is a nightmare and it won't get any better" hard, but just hard.

Serena: Melanie, is something going on?

Melanie: Um... I'm not really supposed to say anything, so you can't tell Eric.

Serena: Well, what is it?

Melanie: Brady was attacked.

Serena: Oh, my god.

Maggie: He's gonna be okay.

Melanie: Mm-hmm, he's all right, but it was scary.

Serena: What happened?

Melanie: I can't really say that either until Brady talks to Victor. I just wanted to say it out loud to people I care about.

[Cell phone rings]

Maggie: Uh-oh. Uh-oh. Sorry, I gotta run.

Melanie: Everything okay?

Maggie: Yeah, yeah. It's just a sponsee emergency, you know. Serena, it was very nice to meet you. I look forward to getting to know you better.

Serena: Same here. Bye.

Maggie: Um, yeah. Listen, I'll call you.

Melanie: Okay.

Maggie: Okay, darling? And I'm still upset that Brady--you know, what he went through. You too?

Melanie: Yeah.

Maggie: Okay, but he's going to be okay, right?

Melanie: Yes.

Maggie: Thank god.

Melanie: Give Victor a hug for me.

Maggie: I will. I love you.

Maggie: Bye!

Serena: Bye.

Melanie: Hmm.

Serena: So now that Maggie's gone, you're gonna tell me what happened to Brady.

Melanie: No, now we're going to talk about you.

Serena: Well, I'm not going anywhere.

Sonny: I'm just going to go ahead and get her ready for bed. I am so happy to see you. I know, I've said that like a million times. But I just am! I just miss you, you're cute, you're adorable.

Lucas: So how'd it go?

Will: Not great.

Lucas: Sorry about that.

Will: Got off to a bad start.

Lucas: Well, what happened? Is it because I came in?

Will: No. Well, maybe the break's a good thing. We can...reset. Try again.

Lucas: All right.

Will: Sonny does not get why I had all this stuff out.

Lucas: Well, what is this? What is this?

Will: This is my notes on my article about Paul. I didn't get a chance to tell him what I figured out.

Lucas: You didn't get a chance to tell me. You left before you could.

Will: Paul Narita has no clue who he really is.

Sonny: I missed you so much. Oh, my god. I know, I will never stay away that long ever again. I promise, okay? I know. Oh, I love you, I love you, I love you. Oh, I love you.

Will: Okay, check this out. See that? Now look at this. You see that date right there? That's Paul's birthday.

Lucas: Wait, you actually think that--

Will: I took this information to Paul's mother. Now obviously, she didn't give anything up, but I could tell by the look on her face that I am on the right track. She was pregnant when this photo was taken.

Lucas: Son, it doesn't prove anything.

Will: Well, how about the fact that she's totally freaked to come out to Salem?

Lucas: Well, she does have a son who's a famous baseball player who just came out in a major magazine article.

Will: And everything that she's been telling Paul about his father, it's a lie.

Lucas: Which makes you think that his father is from Salem.

Will: If you remember how we figured out that this photo had to have been taken on the DiMera property?

Lucas: Right.

Will: I flat-out told Paul's mom that I thought his father was a DiMera.

Lucas: Wait a minute, you did what?

Will: She didn't deny it! It has to be Stefano! Or maybe peter. Either way, dad, this is huge.

Lucas: Wait a minute. Wait a minute. This is what you were working on when you were working on that follow-up piece on Paul? You were gonna write about this?

Will: It is beyond a scoop.

Lucas: I don't give a damn what it is.

Will: What is the matter with you?

Lucas: What's the matter with me? What's the matter with you? Sonny's back. Sonny's back, just leave all this alone and drop it, okay?

Will: Why would I do that? Do you have any idea what this can do for my career?

Lucas: I don't give a damn about your career! What the hell is more important to you, some scoop or your future with Sonny?

Paige: Mom? Mom, are you up?

Eve: Yeah, I'm here! I'm up, I'm up, but you're back early from your date. So tell me everything.

Paige: There's something we need to talk about first.

Eve: Is everything okay?

Paige: I want it to be, with us.

Eve: Okay, well... what is it? I mean, you're kind of scaring me here.

Paige: Here, just...

Eve: Okay.

Paige: Since all of this stuff has happened, all this fighting between you and me, we just kind of exist together. We're not close like we used to be.

Eve: Well, honey, we will be again. This is a start, though.

Paige: I was really mad at you, mom.

Eve: I know, and... I'm sorry about that, I am.

Paige: Lying about grandpa to keep me in California longer was really awful. And even if things have, you know, been a little better the last few days, it's not great, and it can't be unless I forgive you. So that's what I want to do. I want to forgive you for all of it, for real. I don't want it to come between us anymore. I want us to start over.

Eve: Thank you. Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you for that. Oh, my gosh, Cole has already had a positive effect on you. I couldn't be happier! That's wonderful!

Daniel: Wow, Jen. That's--that's it, huh?

Jennifer: I'm sorry that I've ignored your calls. I hope you know that. But I am grateful to you for what you've done for my two kids.

Daniel: Better get back to work.

Jennifer: Yeah.

Daniel: Whoa!

JJ: Daniel, hey!

Daniel: Hey, hey.

JJ: Ah, how are you, man?

Daniel: I'm all right. I'm actually all right, yeah.

JJ: Me, too. Yeah, I'm actually really great, in fact.

Daniel: I can definitely see that, yeah. Ah, so, um... well, what's the good news?

Eric: Serena's out with a friend tonight.

Nicole: Oh, well, that's probably best, at least for me.

Eric: I thought you two had worked things out.

Nicole: You know, I probably shouldn't talk about her without her here. But I-I ran into her, and things were a little chilly, but at least it's better than what happened earlier.

Eric: Um, earlier?

Nicole: Yeah, it's a long story, but suffice it to say, we ran into each other at Daniel's apartment and we were both startled. It was really awkward, you know? She was looking at some elephant statue and then she saw me and she jumped and she dropped it on the floor.

Eric: Right, the elephant statue, of course.

Nicole: Why "of course"?

Eric: She said I could give it away, but then she just can't seem to let it go.

Nicole: What are you talking about?

Eric: The elephant you saw at Daniel's, it used to be mine.

Melanie: So Eric and I talked, and we're worried you're thinking about leaving Salem.

Serena: [Sighs] Look. Everything is up in the air, Mel. I told Eric and I'll tell you too. It's too soon to know. I have no idea what's going to happen.

Melanie: Okay, well, I hope that you don't leave. I hope you stay, and not just for my own selfish sake, but Eric really cares about you, and you guys are so good together, and he doesn't want you to go.

Serena: I really hope Eric appreciates you going to bat for him. Look, I really do want it to all work out. That's the truth.

[Cell phone rings]

Melanie: Oh, one sec. Hi. Yeah, sure. No, I'll be right there. Uh, delivery service. Can you watch parker for a second while I run downstairs and get a package?

Serena: Of course.

Melanie: Thank you.

Serena: Only need a minute.

JJ: I'm good, yeah. Yeah, I just came home to talk to mom about something.

Daniel: No worries, I was just leaving.

JJ: Daniel, before you go, I know that we had, like, the worst start ever when we met, but I'm just really, really grateful to have a friend like you.

Daniel: I feel the same way. And if he's happy, maybe I should just stop worrying. Just stay out of it.

JJ: It's all happening, mom. Everything is working out, thanks to you.

Jennifer: Oh, honey! [Laughs]

Paige: Mom, there wasn't a date. I didn't see Cole at all. And I want to be honest with you, 100%. JJ and I are talking about getting back together. And before, I might not have even told you about it. Even now, I know it's not what you expected or wanted to hear, but if we're going to change how we are with each other, we have to be honest about everything, absolutely everything. Mom, I just--I wanted you to know that... I think it can work out with JJ. I really do.

Sonny: Hey, you need to rest. You're tired. I will be right here in the morning when you wake up. I promise, okay? You want to lay down for daddy? No? Okay, you can fall asleep in my arms. I love you.

Will: Don't you think Paul deserves to know the truth?

Lucas: You think I'm buying that you see this as a favor to Paul? You're trying to punish the guy. You and I both know that.

Sonny: Ari's asleep.

Lucas: Oh, good, good. You know what, I'm going to give you guys a chance to--to talk. I know you guys have a lot to talk about, so... I'm gonna go. Sonny, it's really great seeing you.

Will: My dad's right. We do have a lot to talk about.

Sonny: You should know I've already seen Paul. He was the first person I saw when I got back.

Eric: I bought the statue back in Africa. It was a long time ago. And then I gave it to Daniel as a gift and then parker really took to it. It just got really weird when Serena asked for it after I'd already given it away.

Nicole: Weird how?

Eric: Well, we went back and forth about it a lot, and then she just wouldn't let it go.

Nicole: Why is it so important to her?

Eric: Well, I suppose because when we were in Africa together, she had one just like it.

Nicole: You're telling me there were two statues?

Serena: [Sighs] Finally. I found you.
