Chad: Yes, Mr. Shin, I intend to make my father very proud. And live up to the DiMera name.

Melanie: Chad... it's good to see you're finally admitting the man you really are.

Chad: Mel.

Melanie: Mm-hmm.

Chad: You look amazing. Welcome home.

Paul: Now that is what I call "hospitality."

Theresa: Oh, well, you never got a proper welcome to the neighborhood.

Paul: Does that include contraband? Because if it does, I'm totally on board with it. I mean, unless it gets you in trouble.

Theresa: Oh, no, it wouldn't feel like a workday if I wasn't somehow in trouble. Plus, Maxine's not gonna do her rounds for another hour. So...

Paul: So, we get to play.

Rafe: Well, it meant a lot to Gabi that you took the time to visit. She was still talking about it when I left.

Tad: Well, she's got nothing but time, so yeah.

Rafe: Yeah, how'd she seem to you?

Tad: Not so good.

Rafe: Yeah.

Tad: So excuse me. I gotta go.

Rafe: Yup. Well, hey, Sonny. Hey.

Sonny: Hey.

Rafe: So what's up with will?

Sonny: Why does everybody think I'm responsible for will?

Marlena: You said you didn't wanna become the kind of man your father was.

Clyde: Yeah.

Marlena: What does that mean?

Clyde: I meant that my daddy was a monster.

Marlena: And why are you concerned that you might become like him?

Clyde: Oh, I did become him. Maybe even worse.

Kate: What exactly did I do?

Jordan: You are responsible for bringing that psychopath to Salem.

Kate: Okay, so you're going to have to be more specific than that. Is Sami back in town? Because I didn't bring her--

Jordan: Don't even try and lie your way out of this, you bitch. You know exactly what you did. You went to poplar bluff. You went and told Clyde I was here in Salem.

Kate: Oh, that. Yes, yes, I did do that. I did exactly that.

Chad: When did you get in?

Melanie: Um, today.

Chad: So uh, how've you been?

Melanie: I don't wanna do the small talk thing.

Chad: Okay. Well, you got here fast. I mean, here, as in this house.

Melanie: Right. No. Well, I know you're in town so I thought I'd stop by and see you because I knew we would run into each other eventually, and I didn't it to be in public and awkward the first time, so...

Chad: Yeah, just get it out of the way, right?

Melanie: Yeah, right. I'm sorry about your brother.

Chad: Oh, this is a condolence call, really?

Melanie: No, no. I'm--I'm gonna be back in town.

Chad: Wait you're, you're not just visiting? You're moving back?

Melanie: Yeah, so I just wanna get a couple of things cleared up.

[Phone rings]

Paul: Is that your boyfriend?

Theresa: Who?

Paul: With all this TLC, there's gotta be some guy that snapped you up.

Theresa: Uh, nope. I am single, and free, and well, how could I not be for a guy with a 1.42 era.

Paul: Do you even know what an ERA. Is?

Theresa: I know that yours is one of the best in the league.

Paul: It's okay. I really don't like to talk about baseball.

Theresa: Good. I mean, not that I wouldn't. I just know more about other recreational sports.

Paul: I bet you do.

Jordan: You admit it?

Kate: Well, there's no point in denying it.

Jordan: Oh, my God, you're even proud of it. You don't even care what kind of danger you put me in?

Kate: Oh, come on. Please. The only danger was what you might do to Rafe. And it was my business because I'm responsible for you being here.

Jordan: What?

Kate: Yes, yes, that's right. It's because of me that you were brought here. I was paying Rafe's pt salary, I am the one who hired you, along with Kayla Brady because we thought you were the most qualified until you got here. And I saw that you had more than a professional interest in Rafe, which was of concern to me.

Jordan: Wait, so you spied on me.

Kate: You gave me more than enough reasons to think that you were up to no good.

Jordan: Why would think that?

Kate: Because you made Rafe believe that you were someone that you were not. Right, Tammy sue?

Rafe: Well, I just came from seeing Gabi and she hasn't heard from will since he moved to la. Hasn't heard a thing about her daughter.

Sonny: Tell her to get pick a number, wait in line.

Rafe: Well, hold on a second, Sonny. She's in jail, you know. She's locked in a cell. So she's just, uh-- she can't go around town starting a new business. And she certainly can't afford to snap at her friends. So why don't we lose the attitude.

Melanie: I heard you were back in town so I just wanted to make sure you knew that this was a coincidence.

Chad: Yeah, so I wouldn't read into anything.

Melanie: Exactly.

Chad: Yeah.

Melanie: No, my feelings haven't changed. Actually, to be fair, they did change a little bit when I talked to Abigail last winter. You faked a brain tumor?

Chad: Yeah, it just snowballed from a misunderstanding, really.

Melanie: Mm-hmm.

Chad: Not one of my best moments.

Melanie: No. No it wasn't.

Chad: Don't we all have moments that we're not so proud of? Well, Abigail didn't deserve that.

Chad: Yeah, I'd say she's at the top of the list of doing things she's not so proud of. And you know what she did. Or more to the point, who she did. The minute I left town, she just jumped in sack with my brother. Yeah, I thought so. You know all about it, don't you?

Paul: You must be quite an athlete.

Theresa: Oh, well, in the right recreational sport, count on it. But, um, considering where you are right now, maybe we should just unpack this first.

Paul: What do we have here?

Theresa: All the specialties of your homeland.

Paul: Arigato.

Theresa: Uh, oh um...

Theresa: "Chama nayo."

Paul: [Chuckles] You're gonna have to work on that a little before you go to Korea.

Theresa: Oh, seriously? I-I guess I put the wrong language in my translation program.

Paul: Yeah, we don't use that uh, expression much in Japanese.

Theresa: Oh. Well, you say it.

Paul: Duo itiashi mashite.

Theresa: That sounds so much better.

[Laughter]

Theresa: What?

Paul: Nothing, this is sweet. A pan-Asian experience.

Theresa: Did I get it wrong?

Paul: No, you just encompassed all pacific rim countries. All the way down to china.

Theresa: Well, I guess we don't really have a specialty store here, so I guess they lumped the whole continent together. I'm sorry.

Paul: Don't be. This is--this is great. Are you hungry?

Theresa: Ravenous.

Marlena: How was your father a monster?

Clyde: You know uh, with all respect, I'm too old to be whining about what my daddy did. You know I'm here, I'm the one we gotta work on. Why don't we just bat me around for a while.

Marlena: Is that how you think it works?

Clyde: I don't know.

Marlena: I do. That's why you're here. And if you trust me to see you through this process, then we're fine. And if you don't, I'm not the right doctor for you.

Jordan: Rafe knew who I was.

Kate: He didn't know your name though.

Jordan: Rafe and I would've been fine if you hadn't dug your claws into him, Kate. You had to sleep with him.

Kate: Well, that only happened because he couldn't turn to you. You practically drove him to me.

Jordan: And that's when Clyde came to town. Right after you slept with Rafe.

Kate: You know I can't really remember that timeline.

Jordan: Oh, the hell you don't. You brought Clyde here to terrorize me.

Kate: I most certainly did not.

Jordan: You knew Clyde being here would throw me off, that it would come between me and Rafe, and you thought you would just step right in. You did this to get Rafe back, didn't you?

Sonny: I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be a jerk.

Rafe: It's okay.

Sonny: All right.

Rafe: So what is up with will?

Sonny: I don't know. In fairness, we're both busy. And with the time difference it's hard to connect.

Rafe: Right.

Sonny: Yeah.

Rafe: Okay, well, listen, when you do connect with will, would you please let him know that it is really important that Gabi hears from him about her daughter?

Sonny: I know.

Rafe: Yeah. It's really the only thing that is helping her get through prison. Hearing that her daughter is healthy, happy.

Sonny: I get that. I do. And I promise you, next time I talk to will, I'll do my best.

Rafe: Great. Thank you.

Sonny: Mm-hmm.

Rafe: And, uh, hang in there.

Sonny: Voicemail. Great.

Melanie: I don't wanna talk about Abigail and EJ.

Chad: Yeah, of course not. I love how she just skated on that. Everybody seems to forget the fact that she willingly-- eagerly slept with someone else's fiancé. Never mind the fact that he was my brother. It is like all the usual morality police in this town just don't even bother taking that in.

Melanie: Neither of us get to judge Abigail.

Chad: But anything I ever did is fair game?

Melanie: Okay, that's fair.

Chad: Mm-hmm.

Melanie: I shouldn't have brought up Abigail. I'm here because of the two of us.

Chad: And you were very clear about how you feel about us. And I respect that. So we're both back in Salem, new start, new adventures. I just became co-CEO of DiMera enterprises. What's up with you?

Tad: All right, the supplies for the hospital waiting rooms are all set. If you're gonna be here for a few, I can drop them off.

Sonny: No, I gotta get to the south side location. I'll do it.

Tad: Okay.

Paul: Mmm. This is the best sushi I've had in--

Theresa: In all of Salem?

Paul: Mm-hmm.

Theresa: No, come on, I mean, I've seen the parties that you go to. The restaurants, I mean, you get invited to everything.

Paul: I guess.

Theresa: You guess? Oh, yeah, come on, I mean, you go to the most amazing parties with the most beautiful women.

Paul: Well, it's not a numbers game.

Theresa: Oh. So is there a special woman in your life?

Paul: I think I'm looking at her.

Kate: Clyde is not the plague that you think he is, Tammy sue.

Jordan: You have no idea what Clyde is.

Kate: He made mistakes with Ben, with you. He'll be the first one to admit that.

Jordan: Not exactly.

Kate: He's trying to make amends, but you keep on clinging to the fact that your mother died, and you're blaming him for it.

Jordan: Don't you ever, ever speak about my mother again.

Kate: Oh, great. Mommy issues too? You really need to see a shrink.

Jordan: You don't know what you started by bringing Clyde here. But I promise you, you're gonna regret it.

Kate: I'm so touched by your concern.

Jordan: That's not concern about you. It's fair warning.

Kate: Well, I'm not worried. Because you see, I can take care of myself.

Clyde: I tried to handle this on my own.

Marlena: And how did that work out?

Clyde: Oh, I'd get better. I'd do better. And then, I'd lose control.

Marlena: And what does that look like?

Clyde: I got a bad temper. When it gets the best of me, it's ugly. It's gotta stop. I'm looking for practical advice. Okay. We can figure out what triggers your anger and then sort out behaviors that will help you short circuit that automatic response.

Clyde: Sounds like the ticket.

Marlena: Tell me about your father.

Clyde: Why?

Marlena: That's what the process is.

Clyde: I'm in your hands.

Melanie: Well, I thought I'd become chief administrator at university hospital. Of course, until I run for mayor. Though I'm not really sure what the residency requirements on that are.

Chad: Great.

Melanie: Stop it. A peon like myself, I'll be lucky if get my job back at the hospital.

Chad: I, I didn't mean--

Melanie: No, you did. And it's fine. Thank you.

Chad: For?

Melanie: For making this a lot easier than I thought it would be.

Chad: You've had plenty of practice dismissing me. It's not that difficult for you.

Melanie: Right.

Chad: Melanie... what were you afraid was gonna happen?

Melanie: I don't know. I guess I thought maybe I would see just a little bit of the man that I was engaged to. The man that I...

Chad: Loved?

Melanie: Cared about.

Chad: That guy. The guy who got burned no matter what he did or how he tried to protect you?

Melanie: You're a real DiMera.

Chad: I was always a DiMera. Isn't that what attracted you in the first place?

[Phone rings]

Chad: This'll just take a minute. Chad DiMera. Thank you, Mr. Rice. I look forward to it. I'll see you soon. Hey, Melanie, maybe we should just--

[Phone rings]

Chad: [Clears throat] Chad DiMera. At last, automatic, reusable haircolor.

Tad: Look at you, girl!

Melanie: Thank you. And you. With the apron--the apron, taking charge and stuff.

Tad: Uh-huh, yeah. It's working on you, isn't it?

Melanie: Yeah--lady-killer.

Tad: Believe it.

Melanie: I do. I do.

Tad: How, so how long are you in town for?

Melanie: I'm staying. Um, but you can't tell Sonny. I kind of want to surprise him.

Tad: Well, he's not here. Um, neither is Chad.

Melanie: Right, yeah. No, I know, I uh-- I just saw Chad.

Tad: Okay.

Melanie: Yeah. Um, it's--do, uh--do you know if Sonny will be back soon?

Tad: Doubtful. He had to go to the hospital and then the other location, so it could be hours.

Melanie: Oh.

Tad: Yeah.

Melanie: Well, maybe I'll find Abigail.

Tad: I know exactly where she is.

Abigail: What's that about?

Ben: Nothing.

Abigail: Hey, come on. Tell me.

Ben: After what just happened, you have to ask?

Abigail: Tell me.

Ben: You told your mother about us.

Abigail: Yeah. Wasn't that okay?

Ben: Yeah. It's just that you said it like it was a big thing. Like, we're serious.

Abigail: I'm sorry, um, I-I thought--

Ben: Exactly what I thought. That's why it meant a lot to me.

Jordan: Hi, I'm sorry. Um, Harold said to come up but I didn't mean to just burst in.

Chad: Are you okay?

Jordan: Chad, you have to be really, really careful. You cannot trust Kate Roberts.

Chad: [Laughs]

Rafe: Hey, Maxine. Hi, Marlena around?

Maxine: Yeah, I think she's in her office.

Rafe: Okay, well, thanks.

Maxine: Oh, listen, when you see your sister, tell her to hang in there, and I'm thinking about her.

Rafe: I will, thank you.

Anne: Pack up the welcome wagon, Theresa. Come on, girl. Uh, Maxine, we need to have a meeting.

Maxine: About?

Anne: I have a problem with one of your--a--um, nurses.

Theresa: So you're saying that you're interested in me?

Paul: How can you be surprised? Look at you.

Theresa: Yeah, but like I said, I've seen the women that you date.

Paul: And you're different. We have a connection.

Theresa: Yeah, we do. You know I think that maybe we should hang out and get to know each other better.

Paul: Definitely.

Maxine: If you have a problem with one of my nurses, take it to the union.

Anne: Well, I take it to the union and it gets escalated and I was thinking maybe--

Maxine: Excuse me. Out celebrity patient just rang.

Anne: I doubt it.

Nurse: Maxine, can you take a look at this? It's a patient in 425.

Anne: Okay, break it up, kids. You're about to have a visit from--

Anne: Well, he seems fine, Maxine.

Maxine: Uh-huh. What's going on here?

Paul: Exactly what you think.

Clyde: So Daddy hit the balloon back at me and nearly knocked me over. You know I was only four or five at the time, and I looked at him, and it hit me. He was trying to play with me. You know I was shocked. He says, uh, "don't you know what to do, boy? Hit it back!" So I did and we started laughing, and uh, he was having a great time.

Marlena: That's a nice memory.

Clyde: Yeah.

Marlena: What happened then?

Clyde: Um, well... uh, Daddy always had this stogie in his mouth. Even then, you know. And we were doing this back and forth, and I hit the balloon and it landed on the cigar and popped. And I was so surprised, uh, I yelled or--something came out of my mouth and um, I started crying. And he looked at me and... the look on his face was, uh... pure rage and, uh... disgust. You know? I killed the fun and now I was crying.

Marlena: How did that feel?

Clyde: I was terrified. I never cried in front of the man again.

Marlena: You were five and you haven't cried since then?

Clyde: Yeah. Thereabouts. I haven't thought about that in a long time. I don't know why it came up now.

Marlena: Let's try something. Close your eyes. Thank you. I want you to think about your father's face that day. And please remember, you're an adult now and he can't hurt you. Tell me what you see.

Clyde: I see an angry, angry man. Miserable man. That was the last time he was happy with me. And I ruined it. Kids ruin everything.

Marlena: So you saw a miserable man. As an adult, can you understand that that a five-year-old had nothing to do with that?

Clyde: I don't know, maybe.

Marlena: Okay. Open your eyes. That's all for today.

Clyde: What? I mean, I thought we'd go farther.

Marlena: Well, that was bigger than you think. It's a process. Keep thinking about your father, what that anger was like, how that affected you in your life. We'll pick it up next time. Okay, Dr. Evans. Thank you.

Marlena: Mm-hmm.

Clyde: Oh, hey there, detective.

Rafe: Clyde.

Abigail: I wish I could stay here all day long with you.

Ben: When do you have to work?

Abigail: Soon. Do you mind if I check my messages, actually?

Ben: No, go ahead.

Abigail: Okay. You can take um, hop in the shower first if you want.

Ben: Alone?

Abigail: Well, if I go with you, then you will never get out, trust me.

Ben: Fine.

Melanie: Do I really wanna barge in on Abigail while she's with her new boyfriend?

Tad: Uh-huh. I have the perfect excuse. Ben left his phone here, so... you'd actually be doing me a huge favor if you drop it off.

[Phone rings]

Abigail: Hey, T.

Tad: Hey, is Ben there?

Abigail: He's in the shower.

Tad: I have his phone.

Abigail: Oh, that is so great. He thought he lost it.

Tad: Yeah. Is it all right if someone, uh, drops it by right now?

Abigail: Yeah, yeah, sure.

Tad: Okay, later. So here's the address. It's just right around the corner.

Melanie: Okay. Cool.

Tad: Perfect. Perfect surprise.

Melanie: Yeah, no kidding. And I'll get to meet her new boyfriend.

Tad: Mm-hmm.

Melanie: Thank you.

Tad: Yeah.

Maxine: Upper lip, right side.

Paul: Thanks.

Maxine: Then, if hr would clear the room, it's time for your vitals. Or I can call Kayla Brady or Seth burns.

Paul: Oh, there's no need for that, Maxine. This is my guest.

Paul: And everything that's happened here is exactly what I wanted.

Maxine: There are still some rules that we need to follow.

Anne: Yeah, and you and I have some work to do anyway.

Theresa: I'll see you later.

Anne: Get out, get out. How did you get him to kiss you?

Theresa: I didn't "get him" to do anything, all right? And, uh, thanks for barging in on us at exactly the wrong moment.

Anne: Well, you're welcome. I was trying to save you from the wrath of Maxine.

Theresa: No, we had a half-hour.

Anne: Uh-huh, well, Mr. Narita apparently pressed his call button and Maxine was flying in there.

Theresa: Really?

Anne: Yes.

Theresa: Oh, we must've hit it while we were kissing.

Anne: Blech.

Theresa: Oh, no, no, no. Wait a minute, you're just jealous, aren't you?

Anne: No. Me? No. Not in the least, okay? Yeah, I thought he was very cool and attractive at one time, but he's not my type. He's not--he's not edgy enough.

Theresa: Oh, come on, Anne. Yeah, right, he is so amazingly hot and you know it.

Anne: Whatever. Is he a good kisser?

Theresa: Oh, yeah.

Anne: I need details. Come on.

Jordan: I'm so glad you're enjoying this.

Chad: Okay, I'm sorry. I'm not. It's just, I never have trusted Kate. There is nothing you could tell me about her that would surprise me. All right, what has she done now?

Jordan: She is the reason Clyde found me. Kate is the one that brought my step-father to town.

Kate: You blind-sided me. Why the hell would you do something like that?

Clyde: Kate, I don't know what your--

Kate: We had an agreement. You honor your agreements or this relationship is done.

Clyde: We have a relationship?

Kate: I am dead serious. We both agreed that the best thing for everyone was for Jordan not to know that I'm responsible for you being here.

Clyde: I kept that agreement.

Kate: Why would you bother to lie? That's the only way Jordan could've found out. This bottle of Clorox bleach

Marlena: Oh, there you are. Hi, Rafe.

Rafe: Hey.

Marlena: How can I help you?

Rafe: Well, it's--it's not me. It's Gabi.

Marlena: Is there a problem in prison?

Rafe: No. She was okay with will taking Arianna to California, but um-- well, she's kind of having a hard time with it now. I was hoping you can go see her, talk to her, maybe help her. Obviously, I would pay you for any costs or time--

Marlena: No, no, I will go and see her gladly, and I will not take money. Could you give me some idea, specifically, what the problem is?

Rafe: It's will.

Paul: So, can I get out of this bed and stretch my legs?

Maxine: Sure, it's shift change. There won't be many people at the desk.

Sonny: Hey! Supplies from TBD.

Oh, are we glad to see you.

Jordan: Kate started investigating me from day one. So she finds out where I'm from, she goes there, meets with Clyde, and tells him exactly where I am.

Chad: Whoa.

Jordan: She knew I had arranged my whole life to keep him away. To make sure he would never find me.

Chad: Jordan, listen to me. Listen to me. You will not let this man ruin your life. Okay? I will not let this man ruin your life.

Jordan: The damage is already done. I am more worried about what Kate can do to you.

Chad: Don't be.

Jordan: Did you hear what I just said?

Chad: Okay, I get what she did to you was horrible. Okay? But I kind of owe her.

Jordan: For your job?

Chad: No, I would've--I would've gotten out anyway. Sooner or later. Hey, but if Kate hadn't brought you to this town, I would never have met you.

Clyde: I swear to you, I have not said a word to Jordan or anyone else about you coming to poplar bluff. What about that detective you hired?

Kate: No. No, because he wants to keep his license and my retainer. I don't pay people who let things slip.

Clyde: Oh, hell.

Kate: What?

Clyde: I might've slipped. And it's all your fault. My budget used to be hard on me.

Melanie: Surpri--ahh! Oh, I'm sorry! Dude, this is--

Jordan: Kate will grab any opportunity she has to use you.

Chad: Like I said--

Jordan: She slept with Rafe when he and I were together.

Chad: What?

Jordan: We had a misunderstanding for a few days when his sister was in trouble, and Kate jumped on it.

Chad: Wow. That was very thorough of her.

Jordan: Take it seriously, Chad.

Chad: Okay, I will. But now I need to ask you a question. Hey. And I want you to be completely honest with me. Do you still have feelings for Rafe?

Marlena: Sami said the studio is keeping will very busy.

Rafe: Yeah. Well, that doesn't help Gabi. Arianna is her daughter, it's her life, it's what she lives for.

Marlena: I understand. I'll talk to Gabi. And I will talk to my grandson about the promise he made to her.

Rafe: Thank you.

Marlena: My pleasure.

Rafe: Okay. Well--oh, uh, by the way, on the way in here, uh, I ran into someone in the hall.

Marlena: Oh?

Rafe: Yeah. And if that person is one of your patients... never mind.

Marlena: Okay. I'll will uh, check with you when I'm on the way to see Gabi.

Rafe: Thanks again.

Marlena: Always.

Clyde: So I was telling Ben how much you hated chicory coffee. He must've told Jordan, who put two and two together, or hell, maybe he figured it out and told somebody. I don't know. I'm sorry.

Kate: That's not okay.

Clyde: I know, my bad.

Kate: Well, how the hell is it my fault?

Clyde: Well, when I slipped, I was thinking about how sexy you were. Even drinking coffee you didn't like. You looked so hot.

Kate: All right, Clyde, this is not helpful at all. Not at all. What if Rafe finds out?

Clyde: What if? You worried about Rafe?

Kate: I can't be?

Clyde: You know, as sexy as you were that day, not near as hot as you storming through that door just now. It took all of my restraint.

Kate: I thought you didn't like restraint.

Theresa: Hmm... I bet he went looking for me.
