Eve: Paige, n-- Paige, no! Listen, there aren't any aspirin in there. I just checked.

Paige: But there was some yesterday. Oh. I see. Okay, mom... what's going on here?

Jordan: Oh, God.

Abigail: Why didn't Chad just tell Ben that the DiMeras owned the apartment building he was trying to get into? No, instead, he had to go and give him a bad reference. It's so like Chad to mess with him like that.

Jordan: Maybe.

Abigail: No, you don't know Chad like I know Chad. There is no maybe about it.

Jordan: Well, Ben didn't have to go and slug him when he found out he didn't get the apartment.

Abigail: Yeah, it's true.

Jordan: Ben's temper is the real problem here. We both know that.

Ben: Well, you were right. I wouldn't want to live in an apartment that your family owned.

Chad: As I said, I get it. It's bad enough your boss was your girlfriend's first, right?

Ben: Excuse me?

Chad: You didn't know. Me, Abigail... I mean, she was a virgin when I had-- have I said too much?

Ben: You son of a bitch.

Nicole: Brady has to be off his rocker, right? I mean, the idea of you and Kristen, I mean, you--you wouldn't--

Daniel: Okay, we didn't sleep together. It didn't get that far.

Nicole: "That far"?

Daniel: Well, it went far enough.

Nicole: Wha--are you saying-- you touched her? Ew! Daniel, after what she did to--to Eric and Brady, ick, ugh, agh!

Daniel: I was in a bad place. We both were in a bad place. I made a mistake. I know that.

Nicole: "A bad place"?

Daniel: Yes.

Nicole: Man, you had to be in a horrible place, like the third circle of hell, if you were even considering-- wait a minute. Was this about Jennifer?

Daniel: It's over. We had it out once and for all, and it's--it--I mean, it's just over, and I am never gonna get her back.

[Cell phone ringing]

Brady: [Sighs] What the hell do you want?

Kristen: I'll be leaving soon. But before I go, there's something you need to know.

Brady: I saw you with Daniel. I know everything I need to know about you.

Kristen: I just wanted to tell you that I'm not going to be leaving empty-handed.

Theresa: [Screaming]

You hear that? Someone's coming.

Eve: What--what do you mean "what's going on," Paige? And how can you even talk to me like that? Do you have any idea what I've been through today?

Paige: I'm sorry. Had some really bad news, and here I am, arguing about whether we've got any aspirin or not. I know how much you were counting on having that surgery.

Eve: I just wanted to sing again, you know. I... I wanted you to be proud of me.

Paige: I'm already proud of you. I want you to know... I understand.

Brady: You're not leaving town empty-handed, huh? What, are you taking Daniel with you?

Kristen: What you saw... [Sighs] Was two brokenhearted people that were reaching out to each other, Brady.

Brady: [Chuckles] I'm glad you cleared that up, because to me, it looked like two horny people having sex.

Kristen: You've made it very clear how you feel about me. But you know what? I'm always gonna have the memories of what we shared, and I'm always gonna have the dreams of what we could've had.

Brady: I'm hanging up now. Do me a favor. Don't try to call me back, 'cause I won't pick up.

Kristen: Just one more thing... just one more thing, and then you can hang up. When I go... I'm going to be carrying a part of you inside of me... the very best part.

Jordan: What?

Abigail: Jordan, I know about what happened to you when you were young.

Ben: You want to have this out right here, Chad, right now?

Chad: It's like you want me to press charges.

Ben: Seems more like you want me to crack you in your jaw again. Why else would you talk about Abigail that way?

Chad: Look, I'm just trying to get it all out there on the table so you have all the facts. That's why you said you went nuts when you found out you didn't get the apartment--was because you didn't have all the facts.

Ben: I know what I said.

Chad: Honestly, I figured you already knew... I mean, about Abigail. But since you--since you don't seem to. First, it was me. Then it was my brother EJ, and then it was, well, you, I guess. I mean, you two have done the deed, right?

Ben: This is how you talk about a woman you used to love?

Chad: I'm looking out for you. I don't want you to get blown out of the water like I did when I read the magazine article. But you never know. I mean, there could be other guys.

Ben: You need to shut your mouth right now, Chad.

Chad: See, here I am, trying to help you, and you look like you're ready to lose it. Now, speaking as your boss, this attitude leaves a lot to be desired.

Nicole: Look, Daniel, I am so sorry I went off on you just now. You must be so-- I feel so bad for you.

Daniel: Look, I really just need to get out of here.

Eve: Thank you for saying all that to me, sweetheart. It's just I--

Paige: We still don't have any aspirin, and you still have a headache. I'll go to the drugstore.

Eve: Thank you, sweetheart.

Paige: Yeah, you just take it easy, and I'll be right back.

Eve: Okay.

Paige: [Sighs]

Eve: Oh.

JJ: I am so out of here.

Eve: No. No, no, wait!

JJ: What?

Eve: Wait just a minute.

Jordan: Did Clyde say something to you?

Abigail: No, um, Ben told me about the abuse you both had to take from him.

Jordan: Oh, I see.

Abigail: And... Clyde--he--he pretty much admitted the same thing. He said that he really regrets the way he treated the both of you when you were young.

Jordan: [Scoffs] Oh, he does. He regrets beating us with a belt. Gee, that really makes it a lot better, Clyde.

Abigail: I'm really sorry I brought that up, Jordan. I can't imagine how you must feel.

Jordan: You want to know why Ben has such a temper? It's because Clyde was such a great role model. And don't believe for one second that he regrets a damn thing.

Abigail: God, you must hate it that he's letting Clyde help him pay for college.

Jordan: No, it's okay. You know, Ben can't do it by himself, and I can't help him because I'm still paying off my own loans. Besides, Clyde owes him this.

Abigail: Yeah, that's what Ben said, you know. He said that he's taking the money, but it's not like it means that he's forgiving his father.

Jordan: He can never forgive that man... not ever.

Ben: You don't like my attitude?

Chad: That's what I said.

Ben: Then fire my ass, but keep your mouth shut about Abigail.

Chad: Look, you're really misreading me.

Ben: And how am I doing that?

Chad: I know Jordan was with Rafe before I met her, but you don't see me being all bothered about it. You want to punch me for saying--

Ben: Because I'm not you, Chad, all right? Look, I know what you're trying to do. And I promise you, my man, it's not going to work.

Paige: I've seen that coat before. I know I have. Mom and... Dr. Jonas? But he's with JJ's mom. Oh, JJ. What has she done?

JJ: Paige will be back any minute. Don't you want me out of here?

Eve: I'll tell you what I don't want. I don't want tonight to have happened is what I want!

JJ: Like I do?

Eve: My God, she saw this, JJ. She saw your damn jacket. Now get the hell out of here and don't come back!

JJ: Not a problem.

Eve: My God. What happened in that bedroom tonight did not happen. You were never here. I never saw you. You and I--none of it.

JJ: Yeah.

Eve: None of it!

JJ: I'm not gonna tell anyone.

Eve: Get out of here.

JJ: I wish to God I never even met you.

Eve: Oh, God. [Breathing heavily] Oh.

Daniel: [Groans] Idiot. [Sighs]

[Knock at door]

Daniel: Maybe they'll go away.

[Knocking continues]

Daniel: Not gonna go away. [Sighs] Go away.

Nicole: And leave you here like this? Forget about it.

Daniel: [Sighs]

Maggie: [Sighs] Ah! Do you know that they finally have a fairly good Thai restaurant in this town? And you should try it. I mean, I went there to dinner-- Brady, what's happened here? It's not your dad, is it?

Brady: Yeah, it is.

Maggie: Oh, dear. I thought he was doing so well.

Brady: Oh, no. Physically, he's great. He's fine.

Maggie: Well, then why are you so upset?

Brady: [Sighs] Because it's not just him. It's, uh... oh, God, Maggie, it's Theresa. It's--it's my father. It's Kristen. Take your pick.

Maggie: I don't understand.

Brady: Welcome to the club. Mm-mm. I haven't touched it. I'm fine. I'm sober. I just-- I want to--I think I should go to a meeting.

Maggie: Okay, I'll drive, and you can fill me in on the way.

Brady: Okay, thanks.

Maggie: Mm-hmm.

Brady: Hey... I was hoping that you'd come home.

Maggie: Okay, next time, don't wait for me to come home. Call me.

Brady: Okay.

[Knock at door]

Kristen: What do you want?

Dr. Mandrake sent me to get you. It's time.

Kristen: Let's go.

[Door opens, footsteps approaching]

[Door closes]

Mandrake: Just take it easy.

Theresa: Where am I-- home?

Mandrake: Yes. Home.

Theresa: Don't like needles.

Mandrake: All you'll feel is a little pinch.

Theresa: Wait. I'm--I'm pregnant.

Mandrake: Oh, I know. I know you are.

Abigail: I'm sorry that I brought all this up, about what happened to you and Ben during...

Jordan: I don't really like thinking about that time, and I don't want to answer questions.

Abigail: Okay. Yeah. Sure. Um, I won't ever bring it up again.

Jordan: Oh, what are those two doing out there?

Ben: This whole thing is a setup, Chad. You knew what was gonna happen when I found out about the apartment.

Chad: Oh, so you're a mind reader now.

Ben: You are barely here to darken the door of this club, and yet you made sure to be here when that landlord called, huh?

Chad: What, so you could lose it and deck me? Hey, I must have one hell of an imagination to set something like that up.

Ben: I told Rafe to send you out here so I could apologize for punching you in that mouth. I did that. We're done here.

JJ: Aunt Kayla?

Kayla: JJ, honey. Oh, listen, I'm sorry. You know, I, um--my computer crashed, and I got to get this report in tomorrow. I used the key your mom gave me. I know she's out of town.

JJ: Sure.

Kayla: So I didn't scare you, did I?

JJ: No, no, I was just surprised.

Kayla: Yeah, so where you been? Hope you were doing something fun.

JJ: Actually, uh... no, it wasn't fun. Um...

Kayla: Ah, JJ, I saw Paige at the hospital, and she said that, well, it's not the best time for you guys. I really hope it works out for you.

JJ: Yeah, well, you can hope all you want, but it won't do you any good. I, uh... I blew it sky high tonight, just like I always do. Um, I ruined everything.

Eve: Oh, God, what have I done? Oh, what have I done?

[Keys jingling]

Eve: Oh, did you get the aspirin?

Paige: Mm-hmm.

Eve: Great. I've just got a pounding, pounding headache. I'm gonna take a couple of those, and then I am going straight to bed. Okay. They say this is childproof. It's more like people-proof.

Paige: Here, give it to me. I'll open it.

Eve: Okay, thank you. I just can't tell you how much it means to me that you--you're here instead of going-- you're going to spend the night with--what's her name?

Paige: Uh, Daphne.

Eve: Yeah, Daphne. I mean, when I found out I couldn't have my surgery, the thought of coming home to an empty apartment, being alone, you know?

Paige: Here you go.

Eve: Could I have three?

[Pills rattle]

Eve: Thank you. I don't know what I would do without you. It means so much that you're here, and I'm not alone.

Paige: Mom, you don't have to say that.

Eve: Yes, I do... 'cause it's the truth.

Paige: When I, uh--when I got here before... I knew someone was with you.

Nicole: You gonna invite me in?

Daniel: You're acting like I'm gonna shoot myself. Well, I'm not.

Nicole: Well, if it really is over with Jennifer, maybe it's a good idea that I'm here.

Daniel: Brady caught me in bed... with Kristen?

Nicole: Well, thank God you didn't have sex with her. At least you dodged that bullet.

Daniel: No, no, my point is, if there was some hope--some hope for me and Jenn, I wouldn't have gone anywhere near Kristen. But there--there isn't any hope. There's--

Nicole: And, uh--and that's all my fault.

Daniel: Yeah, how do you figure that?

Nicole: Well, let's go back to the beginning.

Daniel: Okay, don't try to make this about yourself, please?

Nicole: Well, I'm not. I'm just saying that I understand, probably more than anyone else, how much you're hurting right now.

Daniel: Look, here's--here's what happened. I was feeling like I-I-I just didn't meet Jenn's standard, that I wasn't good enough, and I don't like that feeling. And now I'm starting to think that--you know what? She is right on the money.

Nicole: What?

Daniel: I mean, I was in a bad way, right? I'm a mess, and what do I do? What do I do, Nicole? I revert to type, and I go to a woman like Kristen?

Nicole: Okay, come on.

Nicole: Look, she probably slipped you aphrodisiacs in your coffee or your house plants or something.

Daniel: No, she wasn't up to her old tricks. She was in the same way as I was... because of Brady--my friend, and I still--

Nicole: All right, stop. Stop. Stop it. Look, you're probably not gonna want to hear me say this, but to hell with what Jennifer thinks, okay? I know a terrible person when I see one, and you are not a terrible person.

Daniel: All right, be honest. Even if we did stop... me getting it on, going at it with Kristen, after what she did to Eric and Brady... yeah. Kind of makes you sick to stomach, doesn't it?

Jordan: Hey, so is everything okay out there?

Ben: You mean did I apologize? Yeah, I did. Moving on.

Jordan: [Scoffs] Would you please give Ben and me a minute?

Abigail: Yeah, sure.

Ben: [Sighs] Save the lecture, okay? I know I have a bad temper and I need to control it.

Jordan: Well, I know you're tired of hearing me say it, but I don't want to see you--

Ben: What? Turning into him? Is that what you're gonna say? 'Cause I'm nothing like my father. I've got this, okay?

Abigail: Ben said he apologized to you.

Chad: Yeah, he did.

Abigail: So then this is over, right? We can forget about it.

Chad: We better be able to.

Abigail: And what's that supposed to mean?

Chad: Sonny and I are opening a club on the south side. Ben had a chance to manage, make a lot more money.

Abigail: He had the chance?

Chad: I guess he still has it, if he watches that temper of his.

Abigail: He will.

Chad: Abby, the guy's a powder keg. If he blows again, especially if it's at an employee or a customer, he's not just gonna lose his job. He's gonna wind up in jail.

Eve: What are you accusing me of, Paige?

Paige: I'm not judging you. And I'm not saying you should tell me stuff. It's none of my business.

Eve: You know, I-I... I felt so bad. I-I--it was just-- it was stupid, and I'm embarrassed.

Paige: I would like to know one thing. And then I'll drop it.

Eve: What's... what's the one thing?

Paige: Is this man... is it serious?

Eve: Oh, no. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. I was just--I was upset. I was feeling bad, and I just-- my judgment went out the window, honey. If I could just go back--it's really nothing. If I could go back and do this night over again, I would. I can't--

Paige: I know how much you were counting on being able to sing again.

Eve: I was. I real--I really was.

Paige: [Clicks tongue] I just wish I'd been there for you when you found out.

Eve: Oh, I do too, honey. I do too, you know... more than you know.

Kayla: Maybe this--whatever you did--isn't as bad as you think it is. You know, sometimes two people-- they just--they just need to, you know, step away and sleep on it.

JJ: Yeah, that's not gonna help. That's--that's not gonna change what happened tonight. Paige found out what my dad did to you.

Kayla: Oh, my God.

JJ: Yeah, and my reaction, um... it wasn't the best.

Kayla: What does that mean?

JJ: Well, first I lied to her, and then, uh... then I blew up at her.

Kayla: Did you try apologizing?

JJ: I left her a message, but, uh... I doubt that she'll even listen to it.

Kayla: JJ, I am so sorry. Can I do anything to help?

JJ: No, I didn't think. And that's my problem. I forgot what was really important to me.

Kayla: I want you to promise me something, though. You won't give up on Paige. You know, when two people care about each other the way you guys do... anything can be made right.

JJ: Okay, I hear what you're saying.

Kayla: Okay. I'm gonna let myself out, all right? You are a good guy. And I love you. All right, I'll see you later.

JJ: No, I'm not.

Eve: I just... I just feel so stupid. I did something just...

Paige: Don't say that, no.

Eve: So stupid. Yes, I... you know, pinning all my hopes on having a singing career again, now I just... I feel like I have nothing left.

Paige: You have me. And you always will, okay?

Eve: I don't want you to... you know, don't feel sorry for me, all right? When I first met with Dr. Jonas, I was hopeful because he was so positive about my chances, and then I met with Dr. Chung, and he ran all those tests, and he... pulled the rug right out from under me, and I... [Voice breaking] Just did something really stupid with a complete nobody. And the worst part about it... is that you know about it.

Paige: Don't do that to yourself, mom. I'm here with you now. The whole thing with JJ--it got between us, and I really hated that.

Eve: You did?

Paige: I love you, Mom. You're my mom. [Laughs] I know how much you wanted me to go to Stanford, but I'm glad I'm here. And this thing that happened to you... were gonna get through it together, okay?

Eve: What did I ever do to deserve a daughter like you.

Paige: No.

Eve: Baby, I love you so much. I love you so... so much.

Ben: So I guess I need to start apartment hunting all over again.

Abigail: You know, um, Chad said that he and sonny might be opening up this new club on the south side and that it might be a great opportunity for you to make some money.

Ben: Yeah, if I'm a good boy, right?

Abigail: I just thought that it would be a nice way for you to get a new place.

Ben: I can't believe he's talking about me to you. I mean, does he ever stop playing people?

Abigail: He didn't play me, Ben.

Ben: Okay, see, that's exactly what being played means, Abigail. You don't even see it happening.

Abigail: Oh, well, I guess I'm just a sucker, then, right? Is that what you're saying?

Ben: [Sighs]

Chad: We just never hit it off. And I wish that wasn't true, but no matter what I try to do about it, it just seems to rub Ben the wrong way.

Jordan: But he did apologize, though, right?

Chad: Yeah.

Jordan: What?

Chad: Hey, look, I don't like telling you this, all right? But for a while out there, I thought Ben was gonna come after me again.

Jordan: Are you kidding?

Chad: It was probably my fault, okay? I was just trying to tell him I understand how he feels. I guess I said it the wrong way. I--

Jordan: You know, maybe the best idea is just steer clear of each other.

Chad: What do you mean-- Ben and me or--or you and me?

Maggie: How could she do it? How could Theresa let you think that you did it?

Brady: Made me think I did it. Made me think that I put my own father in a coma.

Maggie: All those weeks. So john--he remembered what really happened.

Brady: Mm-hmm.

Maggie: Could you just-- could you just walk me through why he lied about that to you?

Brady: He thought that if he told me that Theresa was the one that hit him that I would dump Theresa and go back to Kristen.

Maggie: Oh.

Brady: He basically had no faith in me at all.

Maggie: Oh, Brady, I'm sure that's not true. He was just being protect--

Brady: No, he--he had nothing to worry about. [Sighs]

Maggie: Brady... [Clears throat] You seem so bitter.

Brady: Surprised about that?

Maggie: No. I mean, look, I know you have a thousand reasons for hating Kristen. But she was actually trying to help you in this case. So I wonder, is there something that I'm missing?

Brady: No. No, like you said, I have A... a thousand reasons to hate her.

Nicole: So what, you want me to let you have it, call you a lowlife?

Daniel: No, I want you to go away. I can handle this all by myself.

Nicole: Hmm. Parker's with Chloe. Yeah. So what are you going to do when he gets back? Are you gonna be like this? Because he's gonna be able to tell that something's wrong.

Daniel: Maybe he's better off with her.

Nicole: Oh. Jennifer really did a number on you.

Daniel: Don't put this on Jennifer.

Nicole: Okay, fine. It's all you. You're the scum of the earth. Feel better? Especially coming from a pillar of respectability like me. You know, I-I've lied to you. I shot you, used you when it was convenient. Oh, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm making this all about me again. But in the interest of making this about you, can I just say one more thing?

Daniel: Can I stop you?

Nicole: No. You, for I don't know how many years, loved Jennifer. And now you--you say you've broken up for good. And you feel really bad about it, and you're in pain. And that kind of pain can make a person... do stupid things. I know. But you know what? You won't even admit it. In fact, you're trying to inflict more pain on yourself. And do you think that I'm just gonna sit here and help you do that? Besides, who the hell am I to judge you? [Scoffs]

Ben: Look, we left the club, what, 20 minutes ago? We can actually stop talking about Chad now.

Abigail: No, we can't, Ben, because you think that he played me and I'm too dumb to realize it.

Ben: No, I never called you dumb. You told me that he played you before and that he lied about something.

Abigail: And I learned from that experience.

Ben: Okay, but not before EJ came along, right?

Abigail: You know, I think, uh--I think it's best if we just say good night before either one of us says something that we--

Ben: Abigail, you know I didn't mean it like that. I'm sorry.

Abigail: Yes, I do, I'm sure. Good night, Ben.

Ben: Good night.

Jordan: I was talking about you and Ben staying away from each other, not you and me.

Chad: Well, that was close.

Jordan: [Chuckles]

Chad: I know you have a lot going on. I could see something was up when you got here. If I made anything worse, then...

Jordan: No, it--it wasn't you.

Chad: I don't want to pressure you, all right? But if there's anything that you ever want to talk about now or later...

Clyde: It's best now that you don't remember what you did, but know this... I will never forget.

Jordan: Thanks, but this is something I got to figure out on my own.

Chad: [Sighs]

Clyde: You got a lot more than your mama's blood on your hands.

Jordan: I need to know the truth.

Eve: What I'm gonna do-- I'm just gonna take a little walk and get some air. I think that'll be good for me, sweetheart.

Paige: You want me to go with you?

Eve: No, honey, no, no, no. You've done enough for me already. Just a minute. [Whispering] Oh, my God. Please don't ever let her find out.

Paige: Poor Mom.

[Cell phone vibrates]

JJ: She's sorry?

Daniel: So... you're not gonna judge me, even though--

Nicole: You've judged me a few times in the past.

Daniel: Harshly, yeah.

Nicole: Well, face it-- maybe I'm a finer person than you've ever suspected.

Daniel: Yeah, probably.

Nicole: You look beat. Maybe you should get some sleep, and in the morning, things won't look so bad.

Daniel: What are you, a motivational speaker now?

Nicole: So you're not perfect. Please, who is? But, Daniel, you are still a good man. I've always known that. [Smooches] Good night.

Daniel: [Sighs]

Brady: You know, Maggie, right before you got home, I got a, um... I got a really weird call from Kristen.

Maggie: What'd she say?

Brady: A bunch of stuff I didn't even understand.

Maggie: Because she wanted you to beg her for an explanation?

Brady: What matters is she told me that she is leaving Salem, and that's really all I care about. I mean, I'm done. I'm done with her. I'm done with my dad. I'm done with... Theresa. I swear to God, Maggie, my one wish in life would be that I never see any of those people ever again.

Mandrake: Are you ready, Miss DiMera?

Kristen: Of course, I am. [Snaps fingers] Let's do it. It's happening. It's really happening. Finally I'm going to get what's rightfully mine.
