Ciara: Who are you going on a date with, Mom?

Aiden: Ah, there you are.

Ciara: No. No, no, no, no, no, no. Not you!

Aiden: I'm sorry, did I interrupt something?

Ciara: Don't tell me you're going on a date with Chase's dad! I-I won't let you.

Eve: Hey, Beth, did something happen to my daughter? Sweetheart, if you have something to say, please say it.

Paige: Oh, Marybeth.

Marybeth: Paige! This is for birth control.

Paige: I want you to be my first.

JJ: Wow. Um...

Paige: "Wow"? That's it?

JJ: No, it's just that you kind of caught me off guard there, uh, that's all. It's like the last thing I--

Paige: You expected, right? Well, I mean it. I, uh...I got this this afternoon.

JJ: You bought birth control.

Paige: Everything's changed, JJ. Ever since Kayla.

Abigail: Remember the last time we talked? You were talking about EJ and you started to say that you never wanted anyone to die but then you stopped yourself.

Ben: Yeah, so?

Abigail: I just--I feel like there was something you weren't saying. Did you once want someone dead?

Kate: Imagine me thinking that you were plying me with expensive gifts. A funny fortune cookie. I didn't see that coming.

Clyde: Well, I just wanted to provide you a little distraction, that's all. You know, with EJ DiMera dying so suddenly like that, makes you think... how random life is sometimes. There's just no understanding why things happen the way they do.

Sami: I'm gonna figure out how to stop crying. EJ, I really will figure it out and then--and then I swear to you I am going to be strong for our children. I'm going to protect our kids. That is my sacred vow to you. I just have to figure out how I'm gonna keep it.

Lucas: You do it with the help of the people who love you.

Sami: I am so glad that you are here. I mean, I know I always pretend like I don't need my friends and my family, and I can do it alone, but I can't. I just--I can't. I need the people I love. I need you all--

Lucas: I know, I know. Listen, listen to me. We are gonna do our best to be there for you, but don't sell yourself short, okay? You're gonna do it. You're gonna--you're gonna keep that promise. Now I know it seems like this is the worst point in your life right now. I know it seems rock bottom for you, but you--you are the most amazing survivor I've ever known or ever will know.

Eve: Marybeth, did something happen?

Marybeth: Nothing new. I just hope that you can find a way to make Paige see what a loser JJ is.

Eve: Oh, trust me, I am trying. I just have to find a way to stop her before she makes an even bigger mistake.

Marybeth: I'll keep my ears open.

Eve: Okay.

Marybeth: It's the best I can do.

Eve: Good, you do that, all right? Because the sooner she realizes that he's not worthy of her, the better.

JJ: Aunt Kayla? You mean what she said? Paige, why would that change everything?

Paige: Well, it's just... ever since I found out what happened to her, I've watched how supportive and protective you've been about her-- about your whole family, really. And it convinced me that everything that I think about you is true. You're amazing.

JJ: No, no, I'm not.

Paige: Hey, don't contradict me. You're the one I've been waiting for... all this time.

Ben: I didn't want EJ dead. And you know how I feel about you, but you moved out of his life. You didn't even want to think about him ever again.

Abigail: Yeah--that's--that's right, but I wasn't asking about EJ. Ben, I was talking about you. Talking like that, it reminded you of something.

Ben: Mind reader. Look, I don't ever want to lie to you. You're right, there was once someone that I wished were dead. My father.

Clyde: Tell me, is there gonna be some kind of memorial?

Kate: No, uh, EJ didn't really want anything like that.

Clyde: Well, still, you think a man like Stefano DiMera would want some kind of tribute to his son.

Kate: Actually, it was very complicated between EJ and Stefano. They were back and forth. It was good, and then it was bad. It was--it was very volatile. And unfortunately, they were in a very bad place when this happened and they didn't get to make up before EJ died.

Clyde: No, I'm sorry. That's just wrong.

Sami: So Rafe said they found the guy who did it, who--who killed EJ... and that he was dead, that he died of an overdose, that he had EJ's things. And he had the gun. I just can't wrap my head around the idea that EJ was the victim of something so--so insanely random.

Lucas: Listen, I'm sure you and the kids don't see it that way, all right? You just--you want him back. That's all.

Allie: Daddy!

Sami: Oh, sweetheart.

Lucas: Honey, come here.

Hope: Honey, calm down. It's okay, everything's gonna be all right.

Ciara: Wanna bet?

Hope: What I mean is, you and Aiden are getting to know each other, starting to become friends. I've seen it. I know you like him.

Ciara: Just because I like him doesn't mean I want him to be my new dad.

[Knock at door]

Eric: Ms. Larson? Eric Brady. I'm here to do your publicity shots.

Eve: You're the photographer?

Eric: Why are you surprised?

Eve: Honey, you just look like you should be in front of the camera, not behind it.

JJ: Paige, listen, you can't put me on some pedestal.

Paige: No, no, I'm not. But still. JJ, I don't like to talk about this much, but I watched this series of really terrible guys come in and out of my mom's life and I'd wonder to myself if every guy in the world was like that. But now I know it's not true... because I found you. You're good and decent and I love you. And I know you. And I know you mean it when you say you love me.

JJ: Paige, of course I mean it. I do love you.

Paige: Oh, JJ, then it will be perfect.

Hope: Hey, baby, look at me. Not for a second would I ever suggest Aiden or anyone could ever replace your dad, not ever, ever.

Ciara: Isn't that what a date is for? To see if you like someone enough to marry him?

Hope: Baby, you're getting way ahead of yourself here.

Ciara: You're the one who's divorcing dad. Isn't that so you can marry someone else? Someone like him?

Hope: Sweetie, no one is marrying anyone here.

Julie: Hey, what's going on here? Darling, I don't know what has you so upset, but take a deep breath. [Inhales] [Exhales] You need to get in touch with your inner peace. Something we all should do more of.

Ciara: How am I supposed to do that when mom is going out with him on a date?

Julie: What?

Ben: I don't think we should be talking about me tonight. And I know we shouldn't be talking about this.

Abigail: You're wrong. Ben, we should.

Ben: Abigail, you lost your father and I'm talking about wanting mine dead the day after someone you know was murdered.

Abigail: Do you ever notice, Ben, that we almost never talk about you? Like, hardly ever. And you always have a really good reason not to. I want to know--I want to know who you are. I want to know what made you who you are, Ben... like how you can be so gentle and kind but yet you say that you wished your father were dead. That confuses me and I wanna know you. I-I talked to your father. I know. He told me that he made some bad mistakes when you were young, but that's not the whole story, is it?

Ben: No, that's not the whole story.

Abigail: I'm sorry if I'm prying but I... I do want to know who you are.

Ben: My mom died when I was pretty young. After that, it got--it got bad. Jordan got the worst of it, especially when she would try and step in to protect me.

Abigail: When we talked about this before it was a lot worse than you led on, right?

Ben: Yeah. Dad could get pretty nasty with that belt.

Abigail: A belt? Ben, oh, my God. How old were you? That's--I can't believe that a parent would be able to get away with something like that. That's crazy. I'm sorry.

Ben: Yeah, so that's why Jordan and I took off. We just couldn't put up with it anymore. I didn't want to see him ever again.

Abigail: And here he is.

Ben: And here he is.

Abigail: Do you still wish that he were dead?

Kate: How I do enjoy being told I'm wrong. Especially about someone I've known for years and you don't know at all.

Clyde: Oh, I'm so sorry. What you said about EJ DiMera and his daddy, I meant that he was wrong. And it came out a little strongly 'cause it--it hit so close to home. My kids have hated me for so long, I mean, they still do, but, ya know, I figure before you check out, you just gotta take a chance on fixing things. You just got to.

Kate: Well, that's a two-way street, don't you think? I mean, they could reach out to you.

Clyde: Not in this case. This one is on me 100%. They're real good kids and I didn't do right by them. Now, with Jordan it may be too late. Hell, it's definitely too late with Jordan. But with my boy, I still have a chance. You know, I might be able to make him see the old man has changed. 'Cause I have. I want a second chance. Like the one that EJ and his daddy didn't have.

Lucas: Pumpkin, I'm so sorry I didn't get here sooner. How ya doing? Are you doing okay? How's Johnny and Sydney?

Allie: They're never gonna see their daddy again.

Lucas: I know, I know that, I know.

Allie: Johnny and Sydney cried. I tried not to.

Lucas: Well, honey, it's okay, I mean, if--if you feel like crying, you can cry. It's okay.

Allie: He's not my daddy.

Lucas: I know--I know but he did--he did love you like he was.

Allie: I know. But now... it's not fair.

Lucas: What isn't, sweetheart? What?

Allie: I still have my daddy, but Johnny and Sydney... daddy, will you be to them as EJ was to me? My budget and I are good. But it wasn't always that way.

Hope: Not quite how I wanted you to find out.

Julie: I know you. You were JJ's lawyer, you helped out at the gala, and now you're, um...

Hope: His name's Aiden. He's a friend.

Julie: How do you do, Aiden?

Aiden: Good, uh, hey, Ciara, looks to me like your mom would like to talk to this lovely lady. So maybe we can go to the square, give them some privacy? Does that sound okay? Or--

Julie: Aiden, thank you for the compliment but I'm much more than "a lovely lady." I am the person closest to hope of anyone in the entire world. At least I thought so.

Ben: I've seen my father a lot lately. And he's saying all the right things but... I have to wonder, can someone ever really change? Jordan doesn't buy it at all. And I've seen flashes of that-- that anger a couple of times now since he's been here.

Abigail: Yeah. Well, everyone gets angry once in a while.

Ben: Okay, I-I know you mean me. It's true, I have a temper and I got it from him. But Abigail, I don't wish my dad was dead. I just wish he would go away.

Clyde: I realize I must be soundin' pretty pie in the sky, huh? The way I see it, you gotta be open to change. Ya know, you gotta be open to things that might help you change, ya know? Become the person that your kids want you to be.

Kate: Within reason. I think my son Lucas would like me to become a cloistered nun.

Clyde: Well, if he has half a brain, he wouldn't change a thing about you.

Kate: Well, I wouldn't go that far.

Clyde: I would. You know, change can happen in all kinds of ways. Say, for example, the right person comes along.

[Phone rings]

Kate: Sorry. I have to take this.

Lucas: Well, yeah, yeah, I will, I'll try to help Johnny and Sydney as much as I can. I mean, I love them like EJ loved you. And I'll do my best. I mean, I'll tell them everything. How great he was as a father, and how special he was, and how much he loved you guys. And he loved them and he loved your mother with all his heart.

Allie: Thanks, daddy. I'm gonna go pack up now.

Sami: Sweetheart, if you wanna stay and be with your daddy for a little bit, you should stay. Great-grandma and Mary, they're up with Johnny and Sydney. It's okay.

Allie: No, I think the three of us should stick together now.

Lucas: Oh, baby, that's so sweet. All right, listen, just for now, okay? And then I'll be right up there.

Sami: I love you, princess.

Allie: Bye.

Sami: Thank you.

Eric: So you said you were staging a comeback.

Eve: Yeah, I am indeed. You know, it's um--I've waited a long time for this and I'm throwing everything I have into it--oh, look, look, look, look. I actually like--I like those.

Eric: Okay. So I'm taking it the surgery went well?

Eve: Oh, I haven't had it yet.

Eric: Meaning that?

Eve: Well, I'm not the least bit scared. Just a couple of minutes under the knife and my voice will be as good as when I recorded these. Yeah. And you have to promise me, right here and right now, that you'll come to my debut performance, okay? Promise?

Eric: Yeah, well, let's make sure you play to a packed house by getting some good pictures.

Eve: Okay.

Eric: Should we get to work?

Eve: Yeah, let's do it!

Eric: Okay. That's your daughter?

Eve: Yeah, she's the light of my life.

JJ: Okay, I just--I--I think we gotta stop 'cause this is Daniel's place and I promised him that nothing like this would go down here, so...

Paige: Right, I'm sorry. So let's go someplace else. My friend Daphne said we could use her dorm room. I could call her--

JJ: Don't--don't--do you think that it's too late like, too last minute?

Paige: Well, I mean, maybe. But--but you do want us to be together, right?

JJ: Sure, yeah, yeah. It's just that I don't see it happening tonight, you know, 'cause I'm just really tired and you had that early class. So, I'm--I'm gonna go head home, okay? I'm just gonna hit the hay.

Paige: Okay. Do you know where my phone is?

JJ: Uh, I think it's maybe behind the cushions.

Paige: Yeah.

JJ: All right, so I'll see ya.

Paige: JJ?

JJ: No, I just--I gotta go home and get some sleep. All right, but you can use your key to lock up.

Aiden: Looks like I really got my work cut out for me, don't I?

Ciara: Why? You don't care what I think. Grown-ups just do what they want, always.

Aiden: I remember it looking that way when I was a kid, but trust me, grown-ups don't always just do what they want.

Ciara: Oh, so now you want me to feel sorry for you?

Aiden: I know that's not gonna happen. Cards on the table. I like your mom, I really do.

Ciara: Tell me something I don't know.

Aiden: Okay, Ciara. We wouldn't be having this conversation if I didn't like you too.

Hope: I should have told you what was going on. But Julie, honestly, I have a hard time telling you and daddy things that I know will upset you and make you worry about me.

Julie: First of all, never say you know what I'm thinking because you really have no idea.

Hope: Okay.

Julie: Bo has left you in a horrible position and if you're ready to move on, I'm 100% behind you. And Bo is a damn fool.

Hope: Hear, hear.

Julie: But this is a lot for me to take in.

Hope: I know.

Julie: So please put my mind at rest about this, this dating. Just tell me something about this man.

Hope: Okay, um... well, that's the thing. I-I can't. Not really.

Rory: Hey, so where's your boyfriend?

Paige: Why do you say it like that?

Rory: Well, I mean, ya know, he's supposedly in love with you but here you are, all alone.

Paige: I just came from seeing him.

Rory: Oh, and he had somewhere else to be? Shocking.

Paige: He went home. He's tired, okay?

Rory: Well, just be sure that he's not ditching you to steal someone else's date.

JJ: Mom? Abs?

Lucas: So what do you want me to do? Put me to work. What can I do for you? I mean, obviously, I'll go upstairs and I can distract the kids, but do you need help with planning anything, like a memorial or something like that?

Sami: No. No. EJ didn't want the kids to have to go through that, you know, the circus it would become.

Lucas: I hate to say it, but he's right.

Sami: So, I do wanna put together something, you know, just for the kids. Something private so that they can--so they can say good-bye.

Lucas: Yeah, right.

Sami: And then I have to get to work figuring out how to get them the hell away from here. Get them out of this place for good and away from Stefano for good.

Kate: Are you sure? Did you double-check? No, it's just worse than I thought.

Clyde: Are you all right?

Kate: I need to take care of something. I am so sorry to cut this short, but, um, it's kind of an emergency.

Clyde: Yeah, sounds that way. Well, I hope to see you again soon.

Kate: Yeah, well, if I don't fix this, it might be 10 to 20. Thanks for the fortune cookie. Sami, you idiot.

Aiden: Okay, I know that we started out kind of tough, right? But I like to think we became friends. I mean, remember during the auction, when we teamed up to save the day?

Ciara: With uncle roman and that lady?

Aiden: Giselle. Yeah, I think we kind of bonded then. Think about law school, kid, 'cause you don't give an inch. Oh, I saw you laughing.

Ciara: Did not.

Aiden: Yeah! Oh--all right, well, maybe you're just laughing at me. Because I must sound pretty desperate trying to remind you how we became friends. But even if you don't think that I am your friend... I think that you're my friend. And it's important to me that you know that I would never, ever even try to take your dad's place. I totally respect how you feel about him. In fact, that's one of the things I like about you. And I like your mom too. I would--I would like to see your mom a lot. All right? But even if I'm lucky enough to do that, I promise you, and I take my promises really seriously... I won't do anything to hurt either one of you... ever.

Hope: Maybe that's why I never told you about Aiden. Because he's difficult to describe.

Julie: Good-looking comes to mind.

Hope: Really? See, I'm not superficial like you, I really never noticed. Okay, he is very good-looking and he's a lawyer. He has a son in Ciara's class at St. Luke's, which I believe you already know. See, I know, you know, things like that about him. But there may be a lot of things that I may never know. He's--he's really private and kind of guarded, but he's a good dad. He loves his son. He's very sweet with Ciara and he makes me laugh even when I don't want to.

Julie: Been a long time since I heard you laugh, darling.

Hope: Yeah, I know. We're friends and if friendship turns into trust and he decides to open up, I'll listen. But I'm definitely not gonna push him. That's ridiculous, it would be so out of character for me, wouldn't it? I don't know where this is going, but I think I'd like to find out.

Julie: Then I want you to find out. Hope, darling, all I want is a happy ending for you.

Hope: Thank you. I love you, thank you.

Rory: You know, there's JJ's story about what happened with the girl at that party and then there's what probably really did happen.

Paige: How would you know? You passed out!

Rory: Well, I know that there was a really hot girl who was into me and the next thing I know, she ends up with my so-called best friend.

Paige: That's not how it happened.

Rory: Fine. You believe what JJ said about that night and that he's just tired and wanted to go home. And Scarlett Johansson isn't totally hot.

JJ: Just tell her. She'll get it, yeah.

Abigail: Do you have to get back to work now?

Ben: It's more like I need to find a second job.

Abigail: What? No. I am having a hard enough time as it is trying to find a first job. You can't get a second job.

Ben: I know, I know. It's tough but it will happen.

Abigail: You really thinking about getting a second job?

Ben: Well, I definitely need to make more money than I am here.

Abigail: Right, yeah.

Ben: Just so I can move into a better place, you know? A place, by which I mean, I actually have a front door I can lock.

Abigail: Yeah, I'd like that too, I think.

Ben: Yeah? Good.

Abigail: But, you know, if you get a second job, then I would never see you, so...

Ben: Well, it's either that or my only other option is to just use some of the money I've been saving for college.

Abigail: No, what are you-- no, you can't use that money. Not only would you have to pay that stupid penalty, but college is way too important to you. Don't use that money. You can--you can find another way. Something else will come up. It always does.

Ben: Come here.

Lucas: You're gonna be fine. And I guess I can start helping you by going upstairs and distracting the kids, so, um...

Sami: I'll be right there.

Lucas: All right.

Sami: Okay?

Lucas: Don't worry about it. Take your time, okay?

Kate: You have really stepped in it this time. This is Jim.

Hope: Oh! Y'all are back, and you didn't kill each other. That's--that's a good sign. Honey, you wanna talk?

Ciara: No, I'm kind of talked out and maybe you two could... I don't know, go on a date. Maybe it won't be so bad. Only...

Hope: Only what?

Ciara: I'll be watching you.

Aiden: [Laughs] I think that's a smart idea.

Abigail: I hate to do this, but I better get going. I have that interview tomorrow and I'm gonna meet with a friend before it to try to get some inside information.

Ben: Oh, yeah?

Abigail: Yeah.

Ben: Well, just hang in there. Your luck is bound to change sooner or later. Maybe this one's the one.

Abigail: Yeah, you know, you say that every single time but this time, maybe you're right.

Ben: I think so.

Abigail: Bye.

Ben: Hey, stalker. How long have you been here?

Clyde: Not long. Just thought I'd drop by--

Ben: Anyway, I don't have the money to pay you back yet, but I'll get it.

Clyde: I told you, son, that's not necessary.

Ben: I'm not sure that's your call anymore.

Clyde: Keep the money, please? You deserve it after the hell I put you through. You got a right to it. That and a whole lot more.

Sami: Kate, what?

Kate: Stay off this. Stay off your phone.

Sami: What are you talking about? What the hell?

Kate: It's about you headed for prison. I don't wanna get dragged along for that ride.

Eric: All right, that's it. You did great.

Eve: Oh, thank you, thank you! I guess it's kinda like, um, riding a bike, huh?

Eric: I'm gonna put a proof sheet together so we can go over it later. Talk about prints and graphics.

Eve: You know, I still cannot believe that you used to be a priest.

Eric: The only thing constant in life is change, right?

Eve: Yeah, you said that. But talk about father what-a-waste. You know what? I got an idea. What do you think about this? We forget about the proof sheet, we go some place, and we'll look at the pictures right on your camera's digital display. We'll order a couple of drinks, celebrate how great this went tonight. What do you say?

Eric: You know what? I don't know, it's just--

Eve: Really? Come on! You're in business now. You gotta keep your client happy. My treat, okay? And a check for services rendered.

Eric: Okay.

Eve: Okay!

Eric: Sounds good.

Eve: Good.

Eric: Let me just pack up my things.

Eve: Great.

Eric: Unless you need to stay home for your daughter.

Eve: Oh, Paige, she's probably still studying. She's got her plate full with school.

Paige: The door's open? So you're tired, huh?

JJ: Paige?
