Episode #12393 ~ Rafe rushes to confront Sami; Sami stuns Adrienne by turning the tables on her; Sonny turns to Victor for help; Eric tries to control his feelings for Nicole.

Eric: [Sighs] I have to meet with the cardinal in a few hours.

Nicole: And if things go your way, you'll get your collar back. You'll be a priest again. But you're not a priest yet. And if we do it now, you won't be... breaking any vows.

Victor: Sonny, what can I do for you?

Sonny: I hope this isn't a bad time.

Victor: It's never a bad time. You sounded upset on the phone.

Sonny: I need a favor.

Victor: Of course.

Sonny: First off, I really appreciate that you helped will get an in at the magazine. But now I need you to call his editor and get her to back off the expose she asked him to write about EJ and Sami.

Victor: Oh, I'm sorry, Sonny. I just can't do that.

Will: Thank you for coming.

EJ: Of course... though I-I have to admit... you are the last person who I would have thought would want to talk to me.

Will: Well, I've been going over things in my head a million times, and I'm trying to figure out what went wrong between you and my mom.

EJ: You're not the only one.

Will: I've heard her side of things, of course. But when I take into account everything that you've done for Sonny and Ari... and me... well, I figure it's only fair that I hear your side as well.

Rafe: Hey, Ben.

Ben: Hi.

Rafe: You seen Jordan?

Ben: Yeah. I got through to her late last night.

Rafe: And?

Ben: She was a mess. I tried asking her what was wrong, but she didn't want to talk about it. She said she needed more time. Did you finally catch up with her yesterday?

Rafe: Yeah.

Ben: Then do you mind telling me what the hell's going on?

Jordan: [Breathing heavily] Did you have sex with Kate again after we were together? [Scoffs]

Rafe: It's true.

Jordan: Why, Rafe?

Clyde: Well, if it ain't my boy's little conquest.

Adrienne: Hi, honey. How are you doing?

Abigail: Hi. Um, okay.

Adrienne: No, no, you're not okay. And I, for one, cannot imagine how Sami can possibly live with herself.

Abigail: [Sighs]

Sami: No, thank you, Mr. Shin. Kate and I are not looking for bonuses. We're doing the work we love to do, and we thank you for your support as we move forward. Oh, EJ and Stefano are very impressed. No, they're speechless. Yes, yes, you and I will talk after the meeting. Thank you.

Kate: Sounds like the board is pleased.

Sami: Mm-hmm. They think we are rock stars and actually even more so now that they know we are going to continue to be liquidating some of Stefano and EJ's assets that are draining the company's money.

Kate: Okay. What are you planning now?

[Papers shuffling]

Kate: Are you seriously prepared to cross this line? It's one thing to go after Stefano's businesses. It's a whole different thing to humiliate him personally. Do you value your life?

Kate: This from the woman who donated his private island to the fresh air reserve.

Kate: Yes, that's right, and we got a nice business tax break, and that is good business. It's a whole different thing. To take away his jet-- that's treason.

Sami: Oh, and pushing him out of his own company isn't?

Kate: [Sighs] Right now Stefano has no choice but to tolerate everything we're doing at DiMera enterprises. Yes, we're divesting his shell companies, but we're also bringing in record profits. He can't argue with that.

Sami: No, he can't.

Kate: Look, if--if you're so determined to up the--the vindictiveness quotient, you should stick to destroying EJ, okay?

Sami: Oh, what, so that you have more time to keep Jordan whatever-her-name-is away from Rafe?

Kate: Actually, you've already taken care of that for me.

Sami: You're welcome.

Jordan: I guess no one was able to get through to me. But now... I'm so glad that that didn't happen... because I found you... and you found me.

Rafe: I promise. I love you.

Jordan: I love you too. Was it all a lie?

Kate: Well, after I got your text, I, um, of course, happened upon them.

Sami: Mm-hmm. What did you say?

Kate: Well, I defended Rafe. I said that he was drunk and, you know, that it was all my fault and... I don't think she believed me. Poor, poor Jordan.

Sami: Now it's poor, poor Kate, huh?

Kate: What do you mean by that?

Sami: Well, I mean, now you're going to have to face reality, right? That Rafe is actually going to be single, but you still have a better chance of getting Stefano back into bed than having some happy future with Rafe.

Rafe: It's not really my place to tell you what's going on with your sister.

Ben: Well, did you give her a hard time?

Rafe: What?

Ben: Jordan was going to tell you, um, just about our past.

Rafe: Yeah.

Ben: Did you freak out on her?

Rafe: Of course not.

Ben: Well, then it must be about what your ex-wife did.

Rafe: Yeah, I have no idea what you're talking about right now.

Ben: Sami said something to Jordan that really upset her last night.

Rafe: Oh, my God. Sami told her. I've got to find Sami. When your baby is ready to explore the world,

Nicole: So how do I look? I mean for the cardinal. Do you think he'll approve?

[Knock at door]

Eric: [Sniffs] [Grunts] One second. Father.

Father: After your long flight, I wanted to see that you were awake for your meeting with the cardinal.

Eric: Thank you. Have you seen ms. Walker?

Father: She's resting at the nuns' guesthouse. Would you like to see her before?

Eric: No, no, thank you.

Adrienne: Honey, it's just so unfair. I know how much you loved that job.

Abigail: I did, and Sami knew that.

Adrienne: Yeah, but she put Kayla in an impossible situation.

Abigail: Yeah, but honestly, even if there was anything that aunt Kayla could have done, I have to take responsibility for my actions. I did violate the conditions of my employment.

Adrienne: Oh, come on, who hasn't?

Abigail: I didn't steal stationery from a supply room or text on the job. I slept with Sami's fiancé. And he happened to be a board member and therefore my employer. I didn't just give Sami all the ammunition she needed. I practically loaded the gun for her.

Adrienne: Well, Sami should beware of a loaded gun in her general area. She hasn't had a very good history with those... so, you know...

Abigail: [Chuckles]

Adrienne: What are you going to do now, hmm?

Abigail: I don't know. But I sure as hell am not gonna let Sami have the satisfaction of watching me sit around feeling sorry for myself.

Adrienne: That a girl.

Abigail: Yeah, one way or another, I'm gonna move forward... move forward to something that I hope will be great.

Sonny: What do you mean you can't help? You're the one who pulled strings to get him the job.

Victor: And as I told you, he'd be working for whatever editor agreed to hire him. I allow for complete autonomy when it comes to the creative process. Otherwise, I find that it hinders, well, creativity.

Sonny: I understand that. But ms. Browning flipped when she read his samples, kept going on and on and on how talented he is.

Victor: And I'm sure that's why she's having him write a cover story.

Sonny: Wait. I-I didn't mention it was a cover story.

Victor: Well, you must've.

Sonny: No. This expose was your idea, wasn't it? And you wanted will to be the one to write this story and skewer his mom and EJ.

EJ: I-I strayed. And things... things spiraled out of control. But I never once stopped loving your mother.

Will: Well, one thing that I know for sure is that you would not have given her your proxies and your purse strings if you weren't truly in love with her.

EJ: You know, it pains me to say this, but, um... I admire the way she maneuvered that position for maximum leverage. You know, she made sure I wouldn't get bail.

[Both chuckle]

EJ: And then I had no choice but to sign over all my proxies to her so she could represent my best interests, and, boy, did she ever. But...

Will: What?

EJ: I think that what your mother's doing right now-- despite her intentions-- is not in the children's best interest, William. Now, I've tried to talk to her. She won't listen. I need somebody else to talk to her.

Will: And you want that person to be me?

Kate: Sami, I told you that--

Sami: Oh, I know what you told me. But your actions say otherwise, Kate. It's clear that you have this pathetic hope that you are going to have a future with Rafe.

Kate: Sami...

Sami: Don't deny it. Admit it. It doesn't matter, because it's not going to happen. Bottom line is Rafe only hooked up with you in the first place because me was trying to get back at me for choosing EJ. What a huge mistake that was.

Kate: Excuse me?

Sami: Oh, no. I meant, obviously, EJ and me. I'm just saying that I was the love of his life. I broke his heart, so he found comfort with you. And then when you ended things with him, he found a crutch in mousy little Jordan.

Kate: Really? So you're saying Rafe doesn't care about mousy little Jordan because he's still head over heels in love with you?

Sami: Is that so hard to believe?

Kate: [Laughing] Oh, my God. You are the most delusional woman on earth!

Sami: I was the love of Rafe's life. And that is why I am sure that he is going to be relieved that things imploded with Jordan.

Kate: [Laughing] Oh, my God.

Sami: Stop it.

Kate: Oh, my God. Rafe will never come back to you, never.

Sami: [Scoffs] Don't be so sure.

Jordan: I'm working. Now's not really the time or the place.

Rafe: Jordan... Jordan, I know that I hurt you, but we need to talk. Please? Don't throw away what we have.

Jordan: You mean what we had. And what was that, Rafe? Hmm? You insisted on knowing everything about my past because you cared so much, you said. No more lies, no more secrets... and I was ready to share all of that with you.

Rafe: I'm so sorry. I really am.

Jordan: I thought I knew everything there was to know about you and Kate. You promised me that it was over, that she didn't mean anything to you.

Rafe: Just--please, just let me explain.

Jordan: No, there's nothing left to explain!

Victor: Look, I had absolutely nothing to do with will writing this piece.

Sonny: But you asked the editor for a cover story on EJ and Sami. You knew she'd give it to will.

Victor: Well, as you said, she was very impressed with his talent. Believe me, Jackson Kiriakis, your husband wouldn't be working for me if he wasn't good. But he is good. And this is a perfect opportunity for any young writer. Of course, if he doesn't want to do the piece...

Sonny: Well, that's the problem, uncle vic. He does.

Victor: Well, then why are you standing in his way?

EJ: William, I realize this puts you in a very awkward position. I-I'm concerned about your mother, and... I need somebody to listen to me.

Will: I'm listening.

EJ: William, your mother and Kate may think they have everything in hand at DiMera enterprises, but they're playing a very dangerous game. Now, at some point, my father is going to lose his patience. And when he does, it will be my job to protect Samantha and our family.

Will: Do you really think that after everything that's happened, you're still a family?

EJ: Absolutely. We share children. That is an unbreakable bond. You know that. And look, I still consider you and Allie and Arianna grace to be a part of my family too.

Will: You and mom are still married, right?

EJ: Absolutely, and I intend on keeping it that way. We've weathered worse storms than this, William. I'm not about to give up on this, not now, not ever.

Adrienne: I know she's here, so don't even bother. Sami, a word?

Sami: Yes, of course. Harold, Adrienne is family. It's fine. Thank you. So happy you stopped by.

Adrienne: Well, you may not feel that way after you hear what I have to say. I considered staying out of this, but we're in-laws now, for better or worse, and I will not stand idly by while you just--

Sami: While I what? While I make sure that your niece... Abby, the slut, suffers for destroying my family?

Adrienne: She is not a slut.

Sami: She betrayed me, and she betrayed my children. And if she thinks that I have made her life hell now, you can let her know from me that I am just getting warmed up.

Eric: [Sighs]

Nicole: Let me help you with that.

Eric: This has got to stop.

Rafe: Jordan, please, there is a lot to explain.

Rafe: I'm not gonna make excuses for what I did. I'm not gonna blame Kate. I was drunk.

Jordan: And you were hurting because of Gabi. I understand that. But you shut me out, Rafe, and then you went to Kate.

Rafe: I wasn't thinking straight, okay? I-I wasn't thinking at all.

Jordan: You were hurting, and you didn't think you could come to me.

Rafe: I didn't want to let you down... the same way I let Gabi down.

Jordan: Well, you've done it now. And, please, whatever you say next, do not say that what happened with Kate didn't mean anything... because it meant a hell of a lot to me.

Sonny: When will first took this assignment, he said he wanted to control the narrative, make sure this didn't turn into something that would embarrass his family or hurt his mom.

Victor: And now?

Sonny: He decided that Sami needs to be taught a lesson. And she does. But I don't like the way he's involved with this. It's not good for him or the relationship with his family.

Victor: Did you marry this man or adopt him?

Sonny: Come on, uncle vic. You know how Sami gets. She's gonna think this is the ultimate betrayal.

Victor: And whose fault is that?

Sonny: What do you mean?

Victor: First of all, you came to me, and you asked me to pull some strings to help will get his foot in the door. He had no idea that I own this particular magazine. Hell, I hardly knew.

Sonny: I know, and I'm very grateful that you got ms. Browning to read his samples.

Victor: Now you want me to interfere again? Now, if he has any idea that he didn't get this job because of his merits...

Sonny: He did.

Victor: Or that you were poking around behind his back trying to interfere with his decision to do this piece... Sonny, I know how much you love him. You have to trust his judgment.

Sonny: I do trust him.

Victor: Well, then back off. Or take it from me, you'll be very sorry.

EJ: Please think carefully about what I've said. And thank you for hearing me out. It's the most that I could ask.

Will: [Sniffs]

EJ: [On recording] And thank you for hearing me out. It's the most that I could ask.

Adrienne: Are you not the same person who drugged her sister's fiancé and slept with him and then led everyone in town to believe that he was the father of your son?

Sami: Yeah. [Chuckles] When I was a kid. Okay, so what's your excuse for the last two decades, Sami? You're a mother.

Sami: Yes, I am a mother. And that slut, your niece-- she destroyed my children's family.

Adrienne: Sami, EJ had a hand in that.

Sami: I agree with you.

Adrienne: Have you ever considered, just considered, that maybe your children are better off without a father who lies, cheats, and occasionally murders people?

Sami: Okay, so now you are crossing into territory you have no business--

Adrienne: You upset my son. You upset your son by attacking their cousin.

Sami: So that gives you the right to come into my home and attack me?

Adrienne: Sami, I'm just trying to make you see. I'm just saying that you--

Sami: I know what you are saying, Adrienne. That's always what you do, right? You say a whole bunch of things to people who really don't want to hear it.

Adrienne: [Scoffs]

Sami: I'll make a deal with you. You give me one minute, Adrienne, and then I will hear you out, whatever you want to say.

Adrienne: Go ahead.

Sami: Please sit.

Adrienne: I'm sitting.

Sami: You are friends with my aunt Kayla, is that right? You two are very close.

Adrienne: [Chuckles] Uh, yes. Yes, why?

Sami: When you're in trouble, when you're hurt or upset, she's the person you call, the person you count on to be there for you and--and vice versa.

Adrienne: Of course.

Sami: That's the kind of relationship I thought I was developing with Abby. I thought she was my friend. I mean, it was just starting out, but, you know, I mean, I thought we really were getting close, so much so that when she thought she was pregnant... with my husband's child... who do you think was there for her? Who held her hand through that? Me. [Scoffs] I didn't want to have to be the one to do this.

Adrienne: Do what?

Sami: [Sighs] I, um... do you remember when Justin was working with EJ so closely to, uh, help push Stefano out of the company?

Adrienne: Yeah.

Sami: Well, EJ had Justin followed, you know, just to make sure that he was 100% loyal.

Adrienne: Which he was.

Sami: Yes. To EJ, yes, but...

Adrienne: But what?

Sami: Well, I guess you two had had a fight. You had kicked Justin out of the house, and he was staying at his club for a while.

Adrienne: Yeah, okay. What about it?

Sami: My aunt Kayla was... very lonely. She's had a difficult time dealing with losing uncle Steve. He--he broke her heart.

Adrienne: Leave my brother out of this.

Sami: I'm sure that Justin and Kayla did not want to hurt you.

Adrienne: No.

Sami: I have the proof right here.

Eric: I know it's a sin to hate. I don't want to hate Nicole. I don't want to lust after her either. After today, there's a chance that I could be your humble priestly servant again. Please remove this... sickness from my thoughts. I don't know why they're there. I need to know your will, God.

[Knock at door]

Eric: It's time.

Ben: Anyway, I called you out here because I spoke to a customer today that works for a recruiter. Got you a couple job leads.

Abigail: What? You did?

Ben: Mm-hmm.

Abigail: Ben, that's so sweet of you. Wow. [Chuckles] Huh, "pastry chef." I never went to culinary school.

Ben: Yeah, but you do make the best chocolate-chip cookies ever.

Abigail: My grandma's recipe.

Ben: I know you're kind of lukewarm on the whole barista training, but I told sonny he ought to hire you just to make our desserts.

Abigail: I think I've had enough of working for my family for a while. Oh, "P.R. And marketing manager for a start-up." That totally sounds like my speed.

Ben: Perfect.

Abigail: This is great. Thank you. "Psychic." Seriously?

Ben: Hey, you are as qualified as anyone, don't you think?

Abigail: I mean--

Ben: I mean, hey, listen, it did take the power of perception to clue you in that I liked you.

Abigail: Oh, that wasn't that hard.

Ben: [Chuckles] Look, I know you really don't need my help finding a job.

Abigail: No, no, I-I wouldn't say that.

Ben: I just wanted to show you how many options you have, 'cause you're smart, and you're talented, and you're hardworking, and I know, no matter what you decide to do, you're going to be brilliant at it.

[Keys clacking]

[Door opens]

Sonny: Hey. Is Ari still sleeping?

Will: Yep. Looks like we'll have to wake her up for her music class. We should sign her up for her afternoon session next time.

Sonny: That'd be a good idea.

Will: [Sighs]

Sonny: How's the article going?

Will: A lot slower.

Sonny: How come?

Will: Well, I lost some time this morning because I asked EJ to stop by.

Sonny: Okay. Did you tell him about the article?

Will: No. But he said some things that... made me question whether or not this is the right thing to do.

Sonny: Yeah?

Will: I don't want to hurt my mom.

Sonny: I know you don't.

Will: Yeah, it's just she's out of control. Maybe writing an expose is not the best way to bring her back down to earth. Maybe--maybe what she needs is voice of reason.

Adrienne: I don't believe you.

Sami: I found them in Stefano's safe when I was cleaning house. As it turns out, EJ and Stefano have a lot of information on a lot of people. My instinct when I first saw them was to burn these photos.

Adrienne: You're lying.

Sami: Ignorance is bliss. I don't blame you, Adrienne. I mean, honestly, I--

Adrienne: These are your wedding pictures.

Sami: Yeah, they are. But for a few seconds... you believed... you were me. For just a moment, you were heartbroken, furious... and you wanted to hurt them the way that they had hurt you. You were willing to do anything to make the pain go away. So now you have had a little taste of what it's like for me... except in my case, it's never going to go away. So I'm hoping that you can understand why I am doing what I am doing. But if you can't... then I suggest you keep your head down and stay the hell out of my way.

Adrienne: How could you do something so hateful?

Sami: To get you off your high horse, Adrienne... to encourage you to look on me and my situation with a little bit of compassion... and maybe to encourage you to give your niece's behavior a good, hard look.

Adrienne: I should've known it was a mistake to come here.

Sami: Yeah, Adrienne, you should've. [Sighs]

Rafe: I know that I hurt you, and I can't tell you how terrible I feel.

Jordan: Then stop trying.

Rafe: But I wanted to be the one to tell you the truth... the truth about what happened with Kate. And I was going to tell you. I was going to tell you yesterday.

Jordan: Was that before or after you told me that you loved me?

Rafe: I do love you.

Jordan: [Scoffs]

Rafe: I-I love you with all my heart.

Jordan: I wish that I could believe that. But I guess Sami was right all along.

Rafe: What?

Jordan: I was just fooling myself about us. I helped you get back on your feet, and you were grateful. And as soon as you didn't need me anymore...

Rafe: Jordan, please. Please don't go. I'm sorry.

Jordan: Don't.

Rafe: Jordan.

Kate: Good. I'm glad you're here.

EJ: I bet.

Kate: Yeah. I wanted to tell you that Sami and I have decided to jettison the Houston refinery. The EPA is giving us some problems. It's really not worth the hassle.

EJ: Whoa, whoa, whoa. Not worth the hassle? Kate, you can't just--

Kate: Yes, we can. And the board approves.

EJ: Listen, that refinery--

Kate: That refinery was your baby? Yes, understood, and I think the word that you were looking for is "was."

EJ: No, no, I need those funds.

Kate: You need those funds for what, EJ? For what? Whatever you were going to use that money for, it's kind of immaterial now. You don't have a job. You don't have a home. You don't have a family. You don't have anything to spend that money on, do you?

EJ: You're not giving me much choice.

Sonny: If you're having second thoughts, why don't you just call your editor and tell her you don't want to do it? She'll understand. It's so close to home.

Will: It's my first big assignment.

Sonny: It'll be okay.

Sonny: [Laughs]

[Cell phone ringing]

Will: Hello?

Adrienne: Will, hi. It's Adrienne. I'm glad you picked up.

Will: What's going on?

Adrienne: Listen, honey, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I wanted you to hear it from me before your mother got you involved. God, that women is--

Will: What?

Adrienne: Sami is on a mission to punish Abigail.

Will: I know.

Adrienne: And every time I think she hits a new low, virtually the only thing left is bloodletting.

Will: What did she do now?

Adrienne: Sami used her DiMera powers to extort your aunt Kayla. If Abigail didn't resign from the hospital, Sami was going to make your aunt Kayla fire her.

Eric: And the angel Gabriel said to Mary... "do not be afraid, for nothing is impossible with God." Gabriel brought news from God. Today I'll receive my news.

Abigail: How do you do that? You always know how to make me feel better.

Ben: It's a gift.

Abigail: Yeah, it is. Oh, and speaking of gifts, I'm still trying to find something special enough to put in that box that you gave me. That was seriously the sweetest thing ever.

Ben: No. You are.

Abigail: [Chuckles] [Gasps]

Ben: What's wrong?

Jordan: [Sighs]

Kate: [Sighs]

Jordan: You think you've won him back, don't you?

Kate: I just want to assure you that what happened between Rafe and I--

Jordan: What happened? You mean you sleeping with him?

Kate: Yes, yes, that. I was telling the truth. It was all my fault.

Jordan: You told me lies, just like every other word you've ever said to me since the day we met.

Kate: And that must be deeply upsetting to you, Jordan... or whatever the hell your name really is.

Victor: To what do I owe this displeasure?

EJ: You know, I was thinking about what you said the other day. Perhaps you were onto something. Maybe we should work together. Are you okay? You look a little bit, uh, dyspeptic. Shall I call Henderson?

Victor: I must be losing my grip. Either that, or your time in jail has addled your brain. I thought I heard you say that you and I could work together.

EJ: Maybe--maybe I should phrase that a little bit differently.

Victor: You didn't really buy that offer I made, did you?

EJ: No, no. I know you called me over here to gloat about picking up DiMera subsidiaries for pennies on the dollar.

Victor: Well, Kate and Sami didn't exactly drive a hard bargain.

EJ: I'm sure they did not. But the fact remains, you stand to lose money if those companies do not produce. I know how to make them produce.

Victor: And you're willing to share your expertise with me?

EJ: Absolutely... if you play your part.

Victor: Ah.

Will: I can't believe that she would do that. Actually, I can.

Adrienne: And when I went over there, you know what she did then? She told me that Justin was cheating on me with your aunt Kayla.

Will: What?

Adrienne: It was a lie. She admitted it. She just wanted to put me in her shoes for a second so I'd sympathize with her.

Will: I-I-I am so sorry.

Adrienne: Honey, you have nothing, nothing to be sorry about. You just need to know that your mother is a one-woman destruction machine. She is hell-bent on destroying Abigail and anyone who dares defend her. And, honestly, she just needs to be stopped.

Will: I know. Do you want to talk to sonny? He's--he's with Ari right now.

Adrienne: You know what? No, honey. Uh, thank you for letting me vent. Just--just tell him I'll call him later.

Will: Thanks for calling.

Sonny: What's wrong?

Will: I've made up my mind, sonny. I'm definitely writing that article.

Sonny: [Sighs]

Harold: Detective Hernandez is here to see you, ma'am.

Sami: Oh. Uh, thank you, Harold. [Chuckles] I knew he would come. Hello, Rafe.
