Eric: Nicole.

Nicole: [Crying]

Eric: Nicole... if we don't make it out of here, it wouldn't be right not to have said anything. I need to be honest with you. I need to be honest with myself. I need to be honest with God. I love you, Nicole.

Nicole: You love me?

Eric: I don't think I've ever stopped.

Nicole: Eric, I-- oh!

Eric: I know. Picked the right time, didn't I? Well, even if we weren't tied up in a basement with a gas leak, you're with Daniel. You love him.

Nicole: I do, but, Eric, there's-- there's more to the story. And I'll try to tell you, I will. I-- if there's time. If there's time. [Crying] Oh, God.

Roman: Okay, start from the beginning. I need the whole story.

[Knocking on door]

Daniel: Well--okay, hold on.

Marlena: Oh--

Daniel: Oh, good. Please come in.

Marlena: I got your call. What happened? Is something wrong?

Daniel: Well, good, I can tell you both at the same time. I have been looking all over for Nicole and Eric, and I can't seem to find them anywhere.

Tad: So, let me see it.

Will: See what?

Tad: The bling.

Will: What are you talking about?

Tad: What are you, a moron? Sonny proposed, and you said no?

Gabi: I am telling you, Julie is not gonna stop until she figures out what happened to Nick.

Sami: Okay, seriously, you have to listen to me right now. This is important. There is nothing to figure out because Nick's body is never going to resurface. He's fish food.

Gabi: Julie--she's gonna go to Hope, and then we're finished.

Sami: No, no, we're not finished, okay? We're fine. You just need to breathe deeply, okay?

Gabi: Is that what EJ thinks?

Sami: EJ? Where did that come from?

Gabi: Well, I have a lot of faith in him, that's all. If you ask me, there's just nothing that he can't handle.

[Eerie music]

Sami: Uh, does your big brother know how you feel about EJ? Because somehow I feel like he would have a thing or two to say about that.

Gabi: If Rafe knew how protective EJ's been of his little sister, he'd be grateful too, believe me. I mean, EJ came to my rescue when I messed up, and he went out of his way to put out the fire with Abigail.

[Keys hit table]

Brady: [Sighs] Mm. Maggie? You home? Thank God. [Sighs]

Theresa: And I'm not stupid. For example, I know you're drinking. Your enunciation is just a little too perfect. You can't kid a kidder.

[Glass slams on table]

Brady: I can't take this anymore. I gotta get out of here. I know just where to go.

Marlena: Can you--can you put out an APB?

Roman: I need to tell the units what to look for. Is Nicole's car in the parking lot?

Daniel: I--you know what? I don't know.

Roman: What does she drive? I'll take a look.

Daniel: Whoa, hold on. Hold on, hold on. Eric has a Smartphone. Do you have his password?

Marlena: I do, but not memorized. Oh, wait, wait, wait. Got it written down.

Daniel: Well, maybe if we can find his phone, we can find him, and we can get to the bottom of this.

[Clatter]

Nicole: [Sighs] I'm getting light-headed, and I--I have to make sure it comes out right. There were moments with Daniel. But I'm not like you. I-I can't--I can't be alone.

Eric: Moments? What does that--

Nicole: You're different. You have your--your vocation, your relationship with God. You're strong enough to live that way.

Eric: And now you found your feelings for Daniel. I get it.

Nicole: [Sighs] What I have to tell you is-- it's not that simple.

Tad: So why'd you turn him down? You love him, right?

Will: Come on, you know I do. But it's not as simple as just loving somebody.

Tad: Why not? He's crazy about you. He's a great guy. I mean, heck, I'd marry him if I swung that way.

Will: [Chuckles] You're something else, you know that? I mean, I know we had our tough times when I came out, but you're clearly in our corner. You're a real friend.

Tad: Uh, well, real friends deserve real answers. So you say you love Sonny. When are you gonna start saying yes?

Marlena: Got it.

Daniel: Yeah. The program uses GPS to give me the exact location of Eric's phone. I got a hit. I got a hit, and it's right here in town.

Marlena: Yeah.

Roman: All right.

Daniel: Let's go.

Roman: Let's go.

Eric: Nicole, what happened between you and Daniel is private. I don't want to hear it.

Nicole: You have to hear it.

Eric: No, it's private. It's between you and Daniel.

Nicole: We might-- we might have made it-- Daniel and me--but... it blew up because of circumstances that--

Eric: And now you've found a way to each other.

Nicole: No, we haven't. I mean, we--we might have... if one of us wanted it bad enough.

Eric: Nicole, why do you make it sound like you're not even together? But you said--

Nicole: We lied. We lied because we knew that's what you wanted to think.

Eric: Nicole, you said you love Daniel.

Nicole: I do. But I'm not in love with him. Not anymore. The one I'm in love with is you. I love you.

Gabi: I'm sorry. Did I say something wrong? I mean, is there something going on between you and EJ?

Sami: Oh, well... [Chuckles] Every couple goes through rough patches. That's all I want to say about it.

Gabi: This is probably none of my business, but, uh, do you know how much EJ loves you?

Sami: It was never a question of that.

Gabi: Is this about Rafe? I mean, he's moved on. I mean, he's getting his life back together, and it looks like you are too. I mean, you're with EJ, and I mean, that's where you belong. I guess that's where you always have. Um, all right, I'm sorry. I'm sor--I'm gonna shut up. Because when I was married, I know that I didn't want to hear what anybody else thought, and so--

Sami: No, um, it's okay. Actually, I'd like to hear what you were gonna say.

Gabi: I was gonna say that there's nothing EJ wouldn't do for you.

Abigail: Oh, my God. I can't believe myself. What am I doing? [Sighs] I don't understand. It's like I turn off this switch in my brain that tells me that this has "disaster" clearly written all over it.

EJ: Yes, it does, and it's a good thing we didn't make the same mistake twice.

Abigail: I have to go. I'm really sorry.

EJ: Abigail, wait. Just wait, please, just for one second, wait. Look, I just don't wish you to leave without understanding one important thing... which is that, Abigail, I never meant to hurt you. I know I was very abrupt when I asked you not to call me again, and I'm sorry.

Abigail: That's okay. Uh... you were right.

EJ: Look, I wasn't trying to ship you off to Europe or buy you off. May not seem like the case, but I care about you.

Abigail: Just please don't, EJ.

EJ: Just hear me out, please. When Chad was in hospital, there was only one person in that waiting room that I knew cared about him as much as I did, and that was you.

Abigail: I didn't know that he was lying to me then, and that you were helping him.

EJ: We had this great connection, and we just-- we took that connection too far.

Abigail: Yes, we did.

EJ: But I do not like to hear you denigrate yourself, young lady. You are a good person. I respect that. I may not entirely understand it, but I respect it. And I'm grateful for the time that we've shared together, and I do hope that we can stay friends.

Abigail: Thank you. I appreciate it. It helps hearing you say that. I have to go.

EJ: I'll give you a lift back in the boat.

Abigail: Uh, I think it's probably best if I take the ferry, right?

EJ: Yeah. [Sighs]

Gabi: I gotta go. I just--I wanted to tell you about the whole Julie thing, and I hope that you mention it to EJ.

Sami: Yeah. Yeah, no, I will.

Gabi: Okay.

Sami: [Chuckles] [Sighs]

Will: You've gotta keep quiet about Sonny proposing.

Tad: I will, I will.

Will: And for the record, I'm going to say yes the minute I know it's not gonna hurt him for me to say yes.

Tad: How is it gonna hurt him?

Will: You remember when I told you that things were complicated? That was putting it mildly. But hopefully things won't be anymore.

Tad: Is Sonny okay?

Will: God, I sure hope so. I love him more than I ever thought I could love somebody.

Tad: What's that like?

Will: It'll happen for you. You'll see. And when it does, you'll know.

Tad: So do you know how lucky you are?

Will: Are you kidding? Yeah, I know how lucky I am. I know how lucky my daughter is. We've got the world's greatest guy in our lives, you know? Whether we're married or not, he's stuck with us, permanently.

Tad: Uh, well, you know best. Uh, better get back to work.

Sonny: [Clears throat]

Will: So...how much of that did you actually hear?

Sonny: Enough to make me want to marry you more than I did before, and I didn't think that was possible.

Roman: Eric! Eric!

Marlena: Are you sure that Eric's phone is here somewhere?

Daniel: Well, if it's here, this will make it sound a chime.

[Cell phone ringing]

Roman: Over here. Got something.

Daniel: What have we got?

Marlena: Roman? Oh. [Gasps] Somebody threw Eric's phone away.

Roman: Yeah, and it wasn't Eric. I'll have this tested for prints, but I'm pretty sure it's been wiped clean.

Marlena: Then they've got him, or they've done something to him.

Roman: Whoever wiped your computer--they didn't stop there.

Daniel: And I just figured something out. Eric got a good look at him. We both did.

Roman: When?

Daniel: This morning, he came to my office so I could tell him what I'd found out. Somebody knocked. Eric opened the door. This guy said he was a doctor, and he had a good cover story about why he was there. But Eric-- I don't know, this guy recognized him.

Marlena: Oh, no. Oh, no.

Roman: That's our guy.

Daniel: Yeah, I'd bet any amount of money.

Chyka: Ah, looks like I'm not too late.

Brady: No, you better make yourself comfortable, though, because the flight's been delayed.

Chyka: Oh, not for long, I hope.

Brady: [Chuckles] Looking forward to blowing this town too? Me as well.

Nicole: When you first came back to Salem, I was-- I was at the lowest part of my life. Then I saw you, and... I thought God had answered my prayer. And then I saw your roman collar, and I realized that God had a sense of humor.

[Both chuckle]

Nicole: And I tried to convince myself that my feelings weren't real, that I was just on the rebound. And I saw what being a priest had--had done for you. You didn't even-- you didn't even have to try to be committed or devout. You--you just-- it was just so right, and you know what? It-- it made me love you even more. And I fought it. I did, I fought it. And then I-I just had to face that there was no use fighting it anymore, and you know who made me do that? Kristen.

Eric: She has a sharp eye for human vulnerability.

Nicole: I wanted to kill her, but she was right. And that's why I turned to that guy, Vargas, and--and Brady. And I just kept trying to quit. This was about running away, and for all the good it did me... there is no running away from what I'm feeling. Especially now.

Roman: Tell all units to proceed with caution. He could be armed. He could also have my son. We can't find Eric, but we found his phone dumped in a trash can in the park.

Daniel: Hey.

Marlena: Hmm?

Daniel: Why don't we retrace Eric and Nicole's last steps, figure out where this guy might have intercepted them?

Marlena: All right, uh, I walked in on Brady and Nicole having an argument. It was about Eric, about the way--about the way she feels about him.

Daniel: Sounds like the perfect place to start. Hey, just hang in there, okay? We're gonna find him.

Brady: How can we be delayed? I mean, it can't be the weather in Vegas, right?

[Cell phone vibrates]

Brady: [Sighs]

Chyka: Aren't you going to get that?

Brady: Uh, no. That can wait. But what can't wait is my stomach. I need something to eat. I can hit those vending machines over there. And all I have is 20s. Vending machines don't take 20s, do they?

Chyka: Ah, I can break it for you.

Brady: Thank you. Appreciate that. Oh, uh... that's, uh-- that's beautiful. My brother has a rosary just like this.

Eric: Why did you lie?

Nicole: [Scoffs] Because if you knew I was in love with you... you wouldn't have trusted me. You wouldn't have let me help you prove what Kristen had done to you.

Eric: Probably not.

Nicole: I forced Daniel to lie. He's--he didn't want to. He's so by the book, it drives me nuts sometimes.

Eric: And all this time, you've loved me. [Sighs] And I accused you of doing what Kristen did.

Nicole: I gotta say... if you wanted to turn me off, that was one way to do it.

Eric: [Sighs] God, I'm such a clueless jerk.

Nicole: No, it's-- don't be so hard on yourself. You figured it out. You apologized. That's what made me love you even more. You were-- you were the man I thought you were... the man I fell in love with. And you were in so much trouble, I just wanted to do anything I could to help you because I love you. God. We love each other. Who knew? Oh, God. Mm.

[Both sigh]

Gabi: Okay, so Julie found out that the phone company turned off Nick's phone service, and then she was all over me about why that happened.

Sonny: Well, she called the apartment today looking for you.

Gabi: Yeah, well, I bet she's calling to ask you all the same questions.

Will: Great.

Gabi: Your mom says that we have nothing to worry about.

Will: Gabi, my mom always thinks there's nothing to worry about.

Gabi: Yeah, well, I mean, I'm just glad EJ took charge when she was gone. That's good.

Sonny: Yeah.

Abigail: Hi.

Sonny: Hey. Here, sit down. Uh, have a seat. [Clears throat]

Abigail: Are you sure? Kind of seems like you guys were talking about something serious.

Gabi: I was just telling Will that I've done a 180 about EJ, and I'm really glad that Sami has him in her life.

[Door opens]

[Door closes]

[Keys jingle]

Sami: EJ?

EJ: You're back.

Sami: Yeah, I was hoping you would come home soon 'cause, um, I think we need to talk.

Abigail: I don't really, uh-- I don't really have an opinion about Sami and EJ either way. I just want you to be happy.

Will: Thank you.

Abigail: Yeah, well, I came in and saw you guys here, so I just wanted to say hi, but I gotta run home now.

Will: You can't stick around?

Abigail: No, I'm pretty tired, so I will see you guys at the christening.

Gabi: Right, I'll call you in the morning.

Abigail: Great, bye.

Will: Bye, Abigail.

Sonny: See ya.

Abigail: Bye.

Gabi: Oh, thank God she didn't hear what we were talking about.

Will: I'll be right back.

Sonny: Where you--where you going?

Will: I forgot to tell Abigail something.

Sonny: [Sighs]

Will: Abigail!

Abigail: Will, hi. I thought that I already said good night to you.

Will: Yeah, but I don't know, you seemed kind of off.

Abigail: Oh, I'm just-- I'm just exhausted. I'm gonna go home and fall right into bed.

Will: Well, that's gonna be kind of hard. Home is in the opposite direction.

Abigail: Oh, right. [Chuckles] You're right. See, I told you, I'm so tired.

Will: Okay, drop the act. What's going on?

EJ: Samantha, I'm exhausted. Could we possibly just postpone this conversation until tomorrow? Look, I promise to listen to everything you have to say. I just, uh--I really don't think I have the energy to go another round with you this evening.

Sami: After the way we left things, you can just go upstairs and go to sleep? I know I couldn't.

EJ: This conversation always ends up in exactly the same place.

Sami: I know. I've just been doing a lot of thinking, and I keep coming back to the same thing. [Sighs] The person that is mostly to blame for this... is me.

Roman: I need you to stay with me, okay? Daniel, you need to go to your place. There's a squad car on the way. You need to let them in.

Daniel: All right, you got it.

Roman: They're gonna dust your computer for prints and anything else the guy might have messed with.

Daniel: Sure, and I'll keep trying Brady just in case.

Roman: Good.

Daniel: All right, and, um, I'm really sorry about all this. Okay, you just hang in there.

Marlena: Yeah, I'm sorry too. Thank you.

Daniel: Yeah, we're gonna find him.

Marlena: Yes, yes, yes, yes.

Roman: Hey, look at me. It's gonna be okay, I guarantee you there. All right?

Marlena: Mm.

Chyka: Thank you. I'm sure they made millions of these things.

Brady: Actually, no. That rosary wasn't mass-produced. I know this because my-- my brother's a priest. He got his in Africa while he was doing his missionary service. But I know that's not his, because you'd have to pry it out of his dead, cold hands for him to give it to you.

[Cell phone rings]

Brady: [Sighs] What is this? Time to turn this off. Bugging me.

Chyka: You know, your brother sounds like a good man. The priesthood gets a bad rap these days, but there are so many truly dedicated ones.

Man: Hey, don't you guys read the papers?

Brady: Yeah, I read the papers. You're interrupting a conversation, though, buddy.

Man: The priest from St. Luke's was doing some blonde. They even made a video of themselves going at it.

Brady: You know what? Um, you should mind your own business and shut your face while you're at it. You don't know what you're talking about, okay?

Man: Oh, yeah, and like you do.

Brady: Yeah, I do, because that priest is my brother.

Nicole: I'm glad I told you. I'm glad we both know everything. But that doesn't change anything. Being a priest is who you are. And I guess I have a-a thing about men being unavailable. Oh, I'm so glad this pole is here and you're here. I'd be on my face right now.

Eric: Nicole... Nicole, you stay with me. Stay with me.

Nicole: I hope you're right.

Eric: About what?

Nicole: About there being an afterlife... 'cause I can't deal with the idea of this being the last time I'll ever see you.

Will: I've known you my entire life. I know when something's bugging you. Is it a guy?

Abigail: [Sighs]

Will: Nailed it, huh?

Abigail: How do you do that? It's every single time. I can't hide anything from you.

Will: So who is it?

Abigail: It's--it's no one. It's not a big deal. I don't really want to talk about it, Will.

Will: Are you actually turning away a single girl's greatest resource?

Abigail: What's that?

Will: The gay friend. Haven't you ever seen sex and the city?

Abigail: [Chuckles]

Will: You tell me your problems. I give you insight into how straight men operate, and then I give you a solution. And then you owe me for life.

Abigail: You know, uh... I don't even think Stanford Blatch could figure this one out, Will.

Will: See, you do want to talk about it, I could tell.

EJ: You don't have to take all of the blame.

Sami: I said "mostly." I'm happy to negotiate that part too.

EJ: Where is this coming from?

Sami: I guess just going away, you know, having a chance to...separate myself, help me think clearly, and it also got me scared.

EJ: Scared of what?

Sami: That I had allowed my ego to stop me from being able to fix this when I could've, and that maybe--maybe it couldn't be fixed. I hate the way things are between us.

EJ: Well, I'm certainly not very fond of it either.

Sami: I hate what your sister did to my brother. I hate that you didn't tell me what she told you. But she's your sister, and blood is blood. And I understand that she did this to Eric, not you. My brother's just trying to move on with his life. Maybe I should do the same thing.

Eric: I think--I think I see the breaker... for the building's power. If I can just find a way to turn it off and shut off all the lights, maybe the people will come down and check on it. [Grunting]

Nicole: We're tied up. We're too far away.

Eric: Yeah. Did I ever tell you I was the kicker for my high school football team? [Grunts]

Nicole: That's it. We're done.

Eric: Oh, ye of little faith. Heavenly Father, I'm in need of a miracle. Please, please help me nail it. [Grunts] Okay, it wasn't the main breaker. But hey, it had to turn something off. Hey, Nicole, you can't lose hope. You can't give up on me. Nicole... Nicole, you can't leave me. Nicole!

Brady: You know, I really-- I really did want to go to Vegas, but, you know, if it means having to sit on a plane with a jackass like you for three hours, it's not really worth it.

Man: Yeesh, what a grouch, huh? Vegas, baby! We're better off without him.

Chyka: You can say that again.

Daniel: Yeah, it's me again, Brady. Call me when you can. It's urgent.

Molina: So what if it's off? It's January, for crying out loud.

Holiday: You wouldn't talk like that if you ever had a hot flash.

Daniel: What is wrong, Mrs. Holiday?

Holiday: The air conditioning is out, and the super isn't answering the phone.

Molina: I went down to the basement to check it out, but the key to the boiler room's not on the hook that it's usually on. But like I said, it's January.

Daniel: Okay, well, I'll call the super.

Holiday: It makes no sense. It was on until a little while ago.

Will: Whoever this guy is, he's really gotten to you.

Abigail: [Scoffs]

Will: Can you at least tell me his name?

Abigail: No. [Chuckles] No, I cannot tell you. [Sighs]

Will: Oh, my God. I know who it is.

EJ: I don't want to argue about Eric or anything else that's going on on the outside of us. If we're going to have this talk, Samantha, it's going to be about you and me, or it's not happening.

Sami: Fair enough. I'd like to go first. EJ, I know I can't hold you responsible for the actions of every other member of your family. I remember when we moved in here together, we promised that we wouldn't let your family come between us. And I understand that that is exactly what I have done, even after you stood by me and were there for me during one of the worst and scariest times in my entire life. I took your love and your support and your loyalty for granted, and I'm ashamed of myself.

EJ: Is this your way of telling me that this separation between the two of us is over?

Man: Hey, I heard somebody say we're about to start boarding. Viva Las Vegas! Whoo-hoo!

Chyka: And not a moment too soon.

Daniel: Nothing. Mrs. Holiday, you there? How can-- Mrs. Hol--you said that the air conditioning was on earlier, right?

Holiday: Until about a half hour ago. I have to go check my brisket.

Daniel: And the key to the boiler room is-- is missing? Please... please tell me that I'm right. Please tell me that they're still alive. [Sighs]

[Gas hissing]
