Jennifer: So tell me the truth. What's going on with you and Daniel?

JJ: I don't wanna talk about it.

Jennifer: I do wanna talk about it.

JJ: It wasn't anything. It would just, like, a "hey, how you doing?"

Jennifer: No, because you and Daniel don't, "hey, how you doing?" I thought we were past hiding things and covering up things, right? Or was that just talk?

JJ: No, mom, it's not just talk.

Jennifer: Okay, then tell me what is going, right now.

Theresa: I need to know what happened--everything--the night that you saved my life.

Daniel: Well, what happened is luckily, I found you in time. And I was able to get you to the hospital.

Theresa: Yeah, I know. And I'm so appreciative of that. And that is one really important thing that happened that night. But there's another one that I-I really need to know about.

[Phone ringing]

Jordan: Hello?

Rafe: Well, hey, boss. It's me, Rafe.

Jordan: I'm not your boss.

Rafe: Listen. I know you finally got some time off, some time to yourself. So feel free to say no on this one.

Jordan: Go on.

Rafe: I would really like to see my niece, Gabi's little girl.

Jordan: I thought you were going to ask something hard. No problem.

Rafe: Ms. Ridgeway, you're the best.

Jordan: I am Jordan Ridgeway. And I'm not gonna run. I'm not gonna need these this time. [Sighs] Not this time.

Will: [Humming]

Sonny: Gabi, we're home.

Will: Where's your mom?

Kate: Okay, okay. That's it, turn the--

Sami: I'm trying. Okay, I did not exactly pick the right shoes for--

Kate: Do you wanna try six-inch spikes, Sami? You wanna trade off?

Sami: Oh, my God. You know what, Kate? I do, yes.

Gabi: I heard something. I think I heard something.

Sami: [Shushes]

Kate: It's over there.

Sami: Oh, my God. Okay, hold on, turn around. [Grunts] Okay. Oh, God. Give me that. Here, here.

Man: Greetings!

Kate: Ahh, greetings.

Sami: Hello.

Man: I saw you lovely ladies from across the way, recognized the sonorous song of your voices.

Kate: And thought you'd say "greetings"... [Chuckles] In passing?

Man: May I? Thank you. Now, I'd like to ask a question. Why did you all deceive me when we were down by the river the other night? Did you think I wouldn't find out what you did?

Gabi: What are you talking about? What did you see?

Daniel: I'm sorry. I-I don't get what you're asking.

Theresa: I guess, Dr. Jonas, what I'm asking is what happened between us that night?

JJ: Don't freak out, okay? I was talking to Daniel, just-- just because I had to.

Jennifer: Why, JJ?

JJ: Because I know that all the stuff between Daniel and Theresa really upset you.

Jennifer: JJ, please, I wish that you hadn't done that.

JJ: Mom, don't deny it. You know that it did. But what you don't know is that there's more to the story. There's a lot more.

What do you mean, "what did I see?"

Kate: Well, you know, I think what my friend here is referring to is the fact that the three of us were a little giddy that night. We had been drinking a little too much wine.

Sami: [Laughs] Right?

Kate: Mm-hmm.

Sami: We were being so silly. But, come on, sweetheart, it's nothing to be embarrassed about.

Gabi: You're right. I'm sorry.

Sami: And believe me, we were making fools of ourselves.

Man: No, I think I'm the one you made a fool of. And don't think for a second you pulled the wool over my eyes.

Sonny: Gabi didn't leave a message or a note.

Will: I don't have one either.

Sonny: Well, she knew we both had things to do today. "Was there a shopping crisis?"

Will: No, no. I don't wanna upset her.

Sonny: I don't wanna do that either, but I have a business to run, and you should be writing.

Will: Okay, then you go run your business and I'll write here while Ari naps. Problem solved. [Chuckles] You're not going.

Sonny: [Deep breath] Actually that, "I have a business to run" was me on my high horse.

Will: Thought so.

Sonny: Everything's good. T's at the club. So why don't I just hang here with you? You can write. And if Ari wakes up, I'll take care of her.

Will: You really do always look out for me.

Sonny: I'm quite wonderful and selfless.

Will: Yes, you really are. You know, you were ready to leave everything here and move to New York with me.

Sonny: Well, actually I was gonna leave everything here and go to New York with Ari. Oh, were you gonna come to New York with us?

Will: [Chuckles] Yes.

Sonny: [Laughs]

Will: You know, my mom was right.

Sonny: That's highly unlike.

Will: When she told you that I love you, she was right. Because I really do.

Sonny: Well, that works out great, 'cause I love you too.

Will: Mmm. God, I hope that she naps.

Jordan: So, it's not gonna be long until we're moving you into your transitional apartment.

Rafe: Oh, yeah. And I can't wait, for a lot of reasons.

Jordan: Yes, it will be a significant milestone in your road to a full recovery.

Rafe: Wow, buzz killer.

[Doorbell rings]

Sonny: [Sighs] Someone's at the door.

Will: Yes, I know. I'll get it.

Rafe: Hey.

Will: Hey.

Both: Hey.

Will: This is a surprise.

Rafe: What? It is?

Will: Come on in.

Rafe: Gabi didn't tell you we were coming?

Sonny: Nope, she didn't tell us anything. She's not here.

Kate: [Sighs] You know, I don't really know what you're getting at. You're certainly willing to talk about anything you think you saw.

Man: It's what I didn't see that's the issue-- the thespesius occidentalis. [Clicks tongue] Indeed.

Sami: What about it? [Chuckles] Well, um, I've seen all kinds of interesting creatures in the woods in my time. But I've never seen one of those. So, when you pulled that out of your hat, I was intrigued, and with good reason. So I went back, did my research, and found that-- well, the duck-billed dinosaur's been extinct for quite some time now. You, young lady, were pulling my leg. Or did you actually find a thespesius occidentalis?

Kate: No, no, no. My friend here loves pulling practical jokes on people.

Man: Ah, well, I love a good joke.

[Both chuckle]

Man: And you did have me fooled. So, then, exactly what were you lovely ladies doing down by the river that night?

Kate: Okay, then. I don't think we have any choice but to, uh, tell him the truth.

Sami: [Sighs]

Daniel: If you're asking me if we--

Theresa: Had sex? Uh, no, not exactly. I mean, I know from my chart that we didn't actually do the deed, but-- I guess what I'm asking is, were we headed in that direction? I mean, it kinda looks like we were. That's what "g" is for, right?

Daniel: Um-- you do know that we didn't have any kind of relationship before that night?

Theresa: Yeah. Except that time that I came on to you, and you had no problem shooting me down. In fact, you told me that you weren't interested at all. So, now I'm really confused. I mean, I don't understand what changed between us that would make you come over to my place that night.

Daniel: Theresa-- hey.

Theresa: [Crying] Oh, God, I-- I think I know.

Jennifer: I changed my mind. I don't wanna talk about this.

JJ: I know that you don't, but I think that we have to. Because I need you to understand the truth about what happened.

Jennifer: Okay, and what would that truth be?

JJ: I wanna talk to you about before Theresa got here, before we knew anything about her.

Jennifer: I don't understand.

JJ: I'm talking about when I first came home, after I got kicked out of school. I was angry. And I was upset. Not to mention, a liar and a criminal. And I did some things.

Jennifer: Honey, I know what you did. We put that all behind us.

JJ: No, I'm talking about you and Daniel, and what I did to the two of you. 3qyou disgust me.

Will: So, I think we're all really glad that Gabi decided not to go to New York after all.

Rafe: Well, yeah, that's for sure. I mean, I told her I was cool with whatever she decided. But I'm sure glad I don't have to say good-bye to her, and you. Yeah, especially you, right? Mwah.

Will: Well, something changed her mind. I have no idea what it is though. One minute, she really wanted to go, and then the next minute, she really wanted to stay. Huh.

Jordan: Yeah, she probably realized what a drag it would be to be a highly paid model in the most exciting city in the world. And she'd be missing the holiday jumble sale coming up at the hospital, so--

Rafe: Oh, yeah. Yeah, no doubt. You got a good point there.

Will: Yeah, great.

Sonny: So where's Gabi? I'm sorry, um--

Rafe: Do you need to go?

Will: No, we're fine.

Rafe: Listen, if it's all right with Jordan, I would love to stay here and watch Arianna, so--

Jordan: Oh, yeah, that's fine by me. I don't have to be at the hospital till later.

Will: Are you sure?

Rafe: Well, yeah. It's not like it's a problem watching you, is it? Is it?

Sonny: Great, thank you.

Rafe: Yeah.

Will: Okay, awesome, great. Just give me a call if Gabi doesn't show up, and I'll be back in five minutes.

Rafe: All right.

Will: All right, be good. Be good. Thanks, Jordan.

Jordan: Bye.

Sonny: It was good seeing you.

Will: Oh, thanks.

Sonny: I got your coat.

Rafe: See you later.

Will: See you.

Rafe: Well, looks like it's just us, huh? Me and you and my boss, Jordan. Oh, yeah, babe boss.

Sami: [Exhales] I'm sorry to say, it's sort of embarrassing. Well, I mean, it is for my friend. You know, uh, as hard as it is to believe, she has a boyfriend.

Man: A very lucky man.

Sami: Right, you would think, but he doesn't it. I mean, we've been discovering, over the last bit of time, that he may be stepping out on her with a younger, more attractive woman. It's really sad. I mean, I've been trying to tell you to stop being so desperate.

Kate: Yeah, if only I had listened.

Sami: I-I know, I know. Well, anyway, so we were following him.

Man: Down by the river? You thought that you would sight in flagrante delicto al fresco?

Sami: [Laughs] Aren't you funny? Well, he's an outdoorsman, so she thought that--she was obsessed with the idea, in fact, that he had taken this young chippy out to one of those cute little cabins down by the river. Uh, the whole thing, it's so sad. It's humiliating. I mean, it's almost like sunset boulevard.

Kate: Ah, well--[Chuckles] Thank God I have my good friends to turn to.

Sami: Aw.

Kate: Yeah.

Sami: There you go.

Kate: Anyway, unfortunately, after you waylaid us, uh--

Sami: Yeah, we lost sight of him. I mean, he slipped through our fingers.

Man: I'm sorry I disrupted your investigation. [Sighs] Oh, um-- but, I am going back down there again tonight, to see if I can catch another glimpse of the megascops asio. So if I see your roving lothario, I shall give him a piece of my mind. And, of course, if I find a body, I'll know the three of you got to your victim first.

[Laughter]

Sami: You are so--

Man: You seem to have a more delicate sensibility than your friends.

Sami: Well, we're in the process of corrupting her.

Man: Mm-hmm.

Gabi: I have a headache. Um--

What a lovely bag you have. I'm surprised you ever gave up your backpack. You seemed so attached to it the other night. Well, it's been a pleasure seeing you again.

Kate: Oh, the pleasure was all ours. [Chuckles]

Sami: [Exhales]

Gabi: He knows. Oh, my God, he knows!

Sami: We are getting her out of here. Come on, come on.

Gabi: [Panting]

Daniel: You know what I was doing there?

Theresa: Well, I have pretty good idea. But you're too much of a gentleman to tell me.

Daniel: Tell you what?

Theresa: That I lied or tricked you or did something awful to make you come over.

Daniel: Okay, I really don't think there's a lot to gain by going over the past. What you need to do--you just need to concentrate on the future.

Theresa: Yeah, like I said, a gentleman. I-I just want you to understand, though, I feel so guilty. And I don't know what happened that night, but it must've been pretty pathetic or desperate, for me to call you to come over.

Daniel: Okay, I-I--

Theresa: You know, I-I don't wanna hear about it, Daniel. Actually, I've decided I-I just don't know if I can handle all the gory details of my behavior. I mean, as it stands right now, I'm--I'm pretty ashamed of who I am.

Daniel: Well, I really think you're right--

Theresa: Look, I'm not gonna run away from my actions, okay. So, yeah, I might not understand all the details of my O.D. or what made you come over that night, but I do know that it was all my fault.

Daniel: Okay, Theresa--

Theresa: I just need you to understand that after what happened that night-- after waking up in the hospital, I'm not that same person anymore.

Jennifer: I don't want to rehash all that. Really, honey, more than anything, I want us to move forward and just put the past behind us.

JJ: But I don't think that we can put it behind us unless we talk about it. Mom, you told me before I came home that you were seeing a guy named Daniel Jonas. And I didn't like it. But when I came home and actually saw the two of you together, I-I freaked.

Jennifer: And I understand that, but we've been through all of that. And if I had brought you home right after your father died, none of that would've happened.

JJ: But it wasn't your fault, it was mine. It doesn't matter when I got home, I would've acted the same way. Look how I acted at school.

Jennifer: Right, because you were in another country and you were alone, dealing with incredible grief. So, like I said, if I had acted, if I had brought you here, and you were surrounded by your family--

JJ: No, no, please don't let me off the hook. I did every stupid thing that I could possibly think of to break up the two of you. Okay, I made you feel guilty, mom. And I lied about Daniel to try to make him look like a bad guy. Okay, when that wasn't enough, I-I issued an ultimatum-- him or me. You know, and if I hadn't have done that--

Jennifer: You know what? I am so proud of you, for being so honest with me right now. But I don't know what you're trying to say. What's done is done.

JJ: But it doesn't have to be. Look, if I hadn't have been such a jerk, then Daniel would've never been with Theresa that night, okay? And he would be here with you. So, maybe it's not too late to just try to fix things.

Jennifer: So are you saying I should give Daniel another chance?

Sonny: I can't help but think that something else is going on with Gabi, you know? She's just been out of it lately.

Will: What do you mean, exactly?

Sonny: Well, I'm not sure what I mean, but-- oh, she was at the club yesterday to meet Rafe. All right, and then Kate shows up. And then they start having this intense conversation.

Will: Okay. Did you hear what it was about?

Sonny: No. Okay? But that's because it's none of my business, but...

Will: You're worried about her?

Sonny: A little bit, yes.

Will: Okay, so the constant bickering is just to pass the time?

Sonny: Just because she irritates me, doesn't mean I don't care about her on some level. But all jokes aside, I'm telling you, something is going on with her.

Gabi: Okay, hold on, wait. I just--I feel like that guy really knows what we did.

Sami: No, he doesn't. He doesn't know anything.

Gabi: Yes--

Sami: Okay, if he knew something, he wouldn't be talking to us about bird-watching, he would've been calling the police.

Gabi: Okay, then why did he keep asking about the backpack?

Kate: He asked once, because you were clutching it like you had the crown jewels in there.

Gabi: Oh, no, only the murder weapon.

Sami: Look, stop using that word. And the only reason he was upset is because when he offered to carry it, you freaked out on him.

Gabi: Because he knew what was in it. He wanted to know what was in it.

Kate: Because he was acting old-school nice, okay, Gabi?

Gabi: Okay, I'm sorry. I'm just a little freaked out, okay? I've been really nervous and panicked and scared.

Sami: Okay, you know what, though? That's why we're here. We're gonna go into the pub. It looks like no one else is in there. It's quiet. We can have a nice cup of tea and calm down.

Gabi: Wait, what time is it? Because I'm forgetting something--

Sami: No, no, no, no, no. You're not leaving. We need to go have a cup of tea. Honestly, whatever it is, it can wait. We can talk and you can listen. Understand?

Gabi: Okay.

Kate: I am going to calm her down if I have to kill her to do it.

Daniel: It sounds like you had some kind of an epiphany.

Theresa: Oh, yeah, yeah. Overdosing will do that. You know, I just-- I wanna make amends, especially with you.

Daniel: All right, you know what? You don't owe me anything.

Theresa: No?

Daniel: No, you don't.

Theresa: No, I'm kind of on this side of the grass because of you.

Daniel: I can tell, you're trying to-- you're trying to change.

Theresa: That's all I want.

Daniel: Well, I wish you the best, I do, sincerely.

Theresa: So, despite everything, we're okay?

Daniel: Yeah, we're okay.

Theresa: Good.

Daniel: But, um, if could ask you something-- if I had you do something for me.

Theresa: Yeah, anything.

Daniel: Could you find it in your heart to be kind to Jennifer? You don't have to be her best friend. Just--just steer clear of her. I think that would be best for everybody involved.

Theresa: What--you still love her, don't you?

Daniel: Why would you ask me that?

JJ: I can't tell you what to do. But considering everything that I've done, maybe you just wanna talk to the guy.

Jennifer: You know, honey, this isn't about what you've done.

JJ: But you were really happy with him. I know you were. And I wanna see you happy again.

Jennifer: I'm happy. I'm happy that we're okay. And I am happy that you are owning up to the things that you did. But I don't wanna talk with you about Daniel.

JJ: But--

Jennifer: No, I don't wanna talk with you about him.

JJ: You did break up with him.

Jennifer: Okay, so he went for Theresa? Honey, you're a kid, and you realize how poisonous and dangerous she is. So Daniel goes for this vindictive, troubled girl? I am telling you right now, he is not the man that I thought he was. But you know what? It worked out for the best. It really did. And I need you to accept that.

JJ: I guess I don't have much of a choice.

Jennifer: Okay, thank you. Thank you. to do my best to be good to Jennifer. Which translates to, I'll stay away from JJ.

Daniel: Yeah, that would be great. Thank you. I gotta go.

Theresa: Oh, and, Dr. Jonas, I just wanted to say thanks for everything. You know, for saving my life and listening. I really do wanna be a better person.

Daniel: I believe you do.

Theresa: And I know you gotta go, but before you do, I just wanna let you know that I'm gonna let my family know that you're nothing but a gentleman, and that there's nothing going on between us.

Daniel: Okay, I appreciate that, but don't--

Theresa: And I don't really have a lot of friends here, which I know, you know, which is completely my fault. And I'm sure that you'd love to stay away from me, which you should, but, uh-- listen, if it gets really bad and I don't have anybody to talk to, do you think maybe I could stop by? I mean, for, like, five minutes.

Daniel: Theresa, yeah. Yeah, that would be fine. Probably six minutes. Okay, but I really gotta go.

Theresa: Yeah, I know, I know, you gotta go.

Daniel: Yeah, I gotta pick my son up, okay?

Theresa: You know, he's a lucky kid, having a dad like you.

Daniel: Well, I'm the lucky one. So, uh, you're gonna have to take care of yourself.

[Door opens]

Rory: So your mom let you off your leash?

JJ: Huh?

Rory: Got big plans for the day? Maybe a trip to the malt shoppe? Go crazy and get two scoops of vanilla.

JJ: [Chuckles] I forgot how funny you were.

Rory: Uh-- it's great seeing you, dude. Hope you don't pass out from sheer goodness.

JJ: Hey, Rory, can I ask you a question?

Rory: Am I holding? Am I ready to have some fun?

JJ: No, when we were dealing and doing all of that stuff, we took a lot of risks, didn't we?

Rory: You, me, lady gaga. We're all on the edge.

JJ: Sometimes it worked.

Rory: Sometimes? Man, most of the time. Are you thinking about getting the business back together? 'Cause I'm totally down, if you are.

JJ: No, dude, I don't want to deal, man. It's just, I'm thinking about taking another type of risk. And while it could come back and bite me, it's just something that I have to do. I'll see you around, man. All right?

Rory: [Sighs] Great talking with you, jerk.

Rafe: Mmm.

Jordan: So how did an old, single guy like you get so good with babies?

Rafe: Oh, old, huh? Nice. Well, as you know, her name's Arianna grace. And, uh, Gabi and I, we had a sister named Arianna, who we lost a couple years ago. And, um, grace, yes. Well, when Sami and I were together, she had a baby. Grace--beautiful girl. And we, uh-- we helped bring up her together.

Jordan: Oh, I thought her name was Sydney.

Rafe: Yeah, that was a long story. The babies were switched. Yes, they were. And, uh, well, even though she wasn't Sami's biologically, we could not have loved her any more. She was, uh-- she was the sweetest, cutest thing. I'll tell you, she had this-- this goofy smile. God.

Jordan: Had?

Rafe: Yeah. Yeah, had. She, uh--she passed away. She was a little bit younger than Arianna is now.

Jordan: Ugh. How horrible.

Rafe: Yeah. Yeah, she was sick. It was bad. But, uh, you know what? You know what I try and do? I just try and think of all the great times that we had. And we had a lot of 'em, you know? Sami and me and all her kids. And there wasn't a second that she wasn't loved.

Jordan: That happy family that you always hear about.

Rafe: Yeah. You know what? I-I'm with Sonny now. I need to know where Gabi is. Can you hold for a second? I just wanna text--

Jordan: Oh, yeah, hold on.

Rafe: Text her.

Jordan: Come here. Hi. Come here, mama.

Rafe: Go to the boss.

Jordan: Hi, hi.

[Phone ringing]

Gabi: Oh, no, that's--

Kate: What?

Gabi: That's what I was forgetting. That Rafe is coming over to the house, and so I need to--

Kate: No, no, no--

Sami: "Sorry. I'm running late."

Gabi: No, Sami, no.

Kate: Yes. Dude, you are in no condition to see Rafe right now.

Sami: He says he's fine. He says he's watching Ari for will and he's glad to have time with her. "You're in a wheelchair." He says that Jordan is with him. That, um, they're watching her together.

Kate: Of course she is.

Gabi: Yeah, he's probably telling her how much I let him down by sleeping with Nick.

Sami: Why would you tell your brother about that?

Gabi: I didn't, she did.

Kate: Because you were about to confess that you killed Nick. That's why.

Sami: Okay, can we all stop talking about that, right? And you, you cannot tell your brother. You understand how serious this is, right? That Rafe cannot just sweep something like this under the rug. He will have no choice but to send us all to prison.

Rafe: Thank you so much for doing this for me.

Jordan: And her.

Rafe: Wait. Where you going?

Jordan: She has what you would call a winning way about her.

Rafe: Yes, she does. I think she's actually trying to make her way back to you. So how about you? You have any brothers or sisters?

Jordan: No, I was an only child.

Rafe: Oh.

Gabi: He's not going to arrest us, because-- because he's never gonna find out. Right? You can make sure that he's never gonna find out.

Sami: Yes. As long as you can keep your mouth shut. Can you do that?

Gabi: I can.

Kate: Good. Because if you can't, all three of us are going to go to prison for-- for the "m" word. Do you understand that?

Rafe: Oh, you like that. So, Ari, I gotta introduce you to someone. Yeah, right here, this is my boss--the big boss.

Jordan: Would you stop calling me that?

Rafe: Bossy pants.

Jordan: I would like to think of myself as a motivator. And I couldn't have done any of this if your uncle hadn't have worked so hard.

Rafe: Oh.

Jordan: I'd like to think of us as a team.

Rafe: I could get used to that.

Jordan: Your uncle is also incorrigible.

Rafe: Oh, God, here it comes. "See, I consider myself your physical therapist. And that's why we can't be close friends." It's all good. I respect that.

Jordan: Mm-hmm. You do?

Rafe: Mm-hmm. Which is why as soon as I get my new apartment, you're fired. [Whispers] She's so fired. Yes, she is.

Will: Um, I get why you think something might be wrong with Gabi, but Rafe doesn't seem concerned. And, you know, if something was going on with her, I think he would know.

Sonny: Well, you're probably right.

Will: Great, all right. I'm gonna get to the library, 'cause I gotta get those books in case Rafe needs me back.

Sonny: Mm-kay.

Will: Mmm.

Sonny: I'll see you soon, tolsy. [Sighs] Sure hope you're right about Gabi.

Gabi: You know, I think that this would be a lot easier if I didn't keep having these nightmares about Nick showing up and tormenting me.

Sami: No, I understand. I'm having nightmares too. I mean, it's terrifying. I keep imagining him grabbing onto me and pulling me underwater.

Kate: What--oh, this is great. Let's just go over all the fun details all over again, Sami.

Sami: Kate, the point is, I think it's our subconscious's way of reminding us what a horrible, evil human being Nick Fallon was. And that he ultimately got what he deserved.

Will: What the hell?

Daniel: So here, check this out. Here's who we can cross off our list. So we got presents for mommy. We got presents for grandpa Craig, grandma Nancy, aunt joy. We got one for Melanie. All that's left is who?

Parker: Jennifer. Jennifer!

Jennifer: Ooh, hi!

JJ: Hey.

Theresa: No. Look, JJ, I told you I can't be around you.

JJ: Wait, hold on. I promise you that this will be the last time I ever bother you. Okay, but I'm not leaving until you know the truth and until I try to make things right.

Theresa: What are you talking about?

JJ: I'm talking about the night you almost died.

Jordan: Ah, she went sleep, just like that. Oh, God, that is a sweet baby.

Rafe: Yeah. I'm so sorry that my sister is late.

Jordan: No, it's fine. I have time.

Rafe: Okay.

Jordan: And besides, it's nice to see this side of you.
