Sonny: Hey. I thought maybe you would be home. I just got here and--

Will: What? What's going on? You okay?

Sonny: I got served with a subpoena. I'm gonna have to testify against your mom.

Will: Yeah, that makes two of us.

Sami: EJ, I feel hopeless. I feel like if I go through with this trial, I'm gonna spend the rest of my life in prison.

EJ: What do you mean, Samantha? "If" you go through with this trial?

Sami: I just mean if I go through with it. You know, if I make it through the whole thing. I just--

EJ: That's not what you said. You said "if."

Sami: Look, EJ--

EJ: As though you--

Sami: This has been really horrible. Every day gets worse. And you heard what Justin said. My chances are terrible.

Kristen: Just remember it's always darkest before the dawn.

Nick: No, no, no, no, no. Aunt Maggie, you can't be everywhere at once, all right? It's totally fine that I was there alone. Honestly, it might have even been better. My parole officer shook my hand, he said congratulations, and then I was out of there, a free man. Yeah. You bet. Yeah, we'll celebrate. I'll see you later. [Sighs] Celebrate what? What now?

Daniel: I think about you. I want you with me all day, all night, all th--I don't even know how else to say it. But I love you, Jennifer. And I want the world to know it. So I'm gonna take that as a yes.

Jennifer: JJ, wait a minute. Just--just hold on.

JJ: Some--some photo shoot, mom.

Jennifer: No. It's--just let me explain for one minute.

JJ: Yeah, just at the office? Nothing important, just strictly business?

Jennifer: No, it is not what you think. We--

JJ: I'm--honest to God, I don't even know who you are anymore, but you're sure as hell not my mother.

Sami: Thank you, Kristen, for that very trite bit of reassurance.

Kristen: I'm just trying to be positive. Look, I know you're going through a hard time. You must be really stressed out. I just wanted to come by and wish you well.

Sami: Well, thank you.

Kristen: Oh, you don't have to thank me. You're engaged to my brother. You're Brady's sister. Of course I'm gonna stop by.

EJ: Uh, Kristen, it's not a good time. Samantha and I are just talking. She needs to explain to me why she--

Sami: Actually, Kristen, I just realized I am very glad that you're here.

Sonny: All right, you know what we're gonna do? Let's take one step at a time, I'm gonna get in touch with my dad and he'll let us know what to do next.

Will: Okay. I'm going to head over to the club. You think you could meet us there?

Gabi: Oh, I'm so glad that you are here. I don't wanna be late for my class, and Ari is finally asleep.

Sonny: Uh, listen, I know that we had plans that I would be here for the next few hours, but I have a meeting to go to and it's very urgent.

Gabi: Okay. Did you call will?

Sonny: That's the thing. Will is gonna be at the same meeting so--

Gabi: So what, I'm just supposed to miss class?

Sonny: Look, I'm really sorry, but can't someone just take notes for you? That'd be amazing. They'll do that for you, right?

Gabi: No, no one can do that. It's not that easy, okay? Yesterday I let you guys go to the club opening so now it's my turn. So if you guys have a meeting to go to just figure it out because I'm leaving.

Sonny: No, no, no. No, you're not.

Jennifer: JJ, listen to me. This--this was a photo shoot and this was strictly business.

JJ: The lies just keep pouring out of your mouth, don't they?

Jennifer: No.

JJ: For weeks, all I heard is that you were through with this guy. And then I walk in and you have your tongue halfway down his throat?

Sami: Well, here's the thing. Jury selection starts in a little bit and I need help.

Sami: Well, I mean, I'd asked EJ, but he brought the wrong shoes from my closet.

EJ: You could just tell me exactly which ones you would like me to get.

Sami: Well, it's very cute that you think that you could do that.

EJ: I can't think of any reason why I can't do that.

Sami: Me neither, except for that you did. I asked you to bring me the cream colored shoes and you brought me nude shoes and they're totally different.

Kristen: Listen, I'm gonna give you a quick tutorial in women's shoe logic, okay? So just come with me.

EJ: Okay, wonderful. Well, I feel duly chastised. Kristen, thank you very much for offering to get the shoes. Samantha, you and I need to have a conversation about the opinion that you were voicing earlier.

Sami: No, don't--EJ. Look, I was trying to be subtle. I just want you to go with Kristen, please. You can come right back, but I have to talk to Justin about what's happening today. And when you and Justin are together you guys just argue about the law. Can you just please give me some time?

EJ: Okay. Fine. Just try not to worry, okay? Things may not be as bad as this bleak picture that Justin is painting. I love you.

Sami: I love you.

EJ: Come here.

Sami: Hurry back. They really are cream with a gold trim. Matches my zipper. Thank you.

Kristen: Sure. A pleasure.

Sami: Okay, okay, so, um, look, about that prosecutor's plea deal. Can you just tell me if you really think that ten years is the best that I could do?

Justin: Sorry?

Sami: Look, if I do this--if I give up EJ and he ends up getting arrested, don't you think I could do better than that?

Roman: Adrienne.

Adrienne: How are you?

Roman: Aside from the fact my daughter's going on trial for murder?

Adrienne: I hate it that that's what it--

Roman: A closed trial. So her dad can't even be there to support her.

Adrienne: I'm sorry.

Roman: Yeah. You sorry about Sami or the fact you turned in the evidence that's gonna put her in prison?

Gabi: Wait, now you're giving orders?

Sonny: Look, I'm--I'm sorry. I'm just really messed up. I got served a subpoena and I have to go testify in Sami's case.

Gabi: Well--

Sonny: Okay, and so did will. He got the same thing.

Gabi: You already knew that was coming.

Sonny: Yeah, but you don't understand. We were subpoenaed by the prosecution. So will and I need to go talk to my dad right now.

Gabi: Okay fine. But just take Arianna with you. She'll sleep in her carrier. She'll be fine, okay?

Sonny: Look, Gabi, I can't. I don't know how long I'm gonna be, all right? And what if she wakes up? What if she needs to be fed? I know this timing sucks, but jury selection's today. And if the prosecution pushes things we might get sent to court right away.

Gabi: Come on! Please.

Sonny: We can't do that. My dad's time is very precious. So we need to meet him when he can meet us. Will's mom could go to prison for life. Please.

Gabi: I should have never taken summer classes because now I'm behind and, Sonny, I'm running on two hours of sleep, okay? I need to do this.

Sonny: Okay, you know what, you know what, how about you sleep right now? Ari's still down, okay? And I know people will give you notes. They will. It'll all work out. I will make this fast, but I have to go, okay?

EJ: I still don't understand why you're doing this.

Kristen: Why is it so hard to believe that I'd wanna help my future sister-in-law? Who is facing life in prison, by the way. Besides, it gives me something else to concentrate on.

EJ: Meaning?

Kristen: Oh, nothing. You know, I really hope you don't have to change that portrait in any way, you know? Maybe add a little prison orange to Sami's outfit?

Will: Who has Ari? I thought Gabi had a class.

Sonny: No, Gabi had to skip her lecture because of what we're doing here. She had to take care of Ari. Um, you know, we just didn't wanna disrupt her sleeping schedule.

Will: I'm sure she loved that she's gotta stay home again. This sucks. This sucks.

Sonny: Yeah, no kidding. But my dad did text me and say he would be here as soon as he can get away from the office.

Will: Okay, that's good.

Nick: Listen, you guys. Um, I gotta go. Sounds like you guys have stuff to--to work out, but, um, I'll see you soon and good luck with this place. It looks great.

Sonny: Thanks, Nick.

Daniel: You have been treating him like he is made out of glass for months. And he just gives--you give in to him.

Jennifer: I'm not arguing with you about this right now.

Daniel: No, the second he pulls a stunt and makes you feel guilty, you give in.

Jennifer: You know what, he has been doing so much better until you just wrecked everything that we have been trying to build.

Daniel: Me? Me? Okay. I do not believe you actually are putting this on me?

Jennifer: Why wouldn't I put this on you? You just attacked my son.

Daniel: Who called his mother--his mother a slut! Jennifer, we were kissing. You--you--you may be as smart as they come, but when JJ's involved, you are deaf, dumb, and blind.

Jennifer: That's because you have no idea what--

Daniel: You really are, and I'm not just talking about how he makes you jump through hoops when it comes to me. I am talking about who he is, what he does when you're not around. Do you know what that is?

Jennifer: That's right because you think he's a criminal, right?

Daniel: No, I don't.

Jennifer: Why don't you just admit it and at the same time, why don't you give me proof of why you even think that?

Daniel: Okay, look, I have--I have heard some things, yes. And I've seen him hanging around some shady characters. But since you never wanted to hear it, I just keep my mouth shut.

Jennifer: That's amazing.

Daniel: I don't say a thing.

Jennifer: No, JJ's right. You do hate him.

[Knocks on door]

Gabi: Okay. Thank you so much. Okay, bye.

Nick: Hey. Are you okay?

Gabi: Yeah, I just have to be here with Ari and I'm missing my history lecture again, so--

Nick: Oh, is that gonna count against you?

Gabi: Well, the professor doesn't take attendance if that's what you mean, but I mean, I need to know what he's emphasizing in the finals next week, so I'm--in the meantime, I'm trying to do my calculus homework, which I totally don't get--

Nick: Hey, hey, hey, hey. Calm down. You got to your history lecture. I'll take care of Arianna.

Gabi: No, sorry. I don't think that's a good idea.

EJ: That was fast.

Kristen: Yeah, Sami was very specific. I didn't have to make any decisions really. I got these kids' photos. I thought she might like 'em.

EJ: Oh, she will love them. Thank you.

Kristen: Mm-hmm. She seemed pretty pessimistic. Do you really think the trial's gonna go that badly?

EJ: Um-- [Clears throat] Actually, I'm very encouraged by the way things are going now.

Kristen: Mm-hmm. Well, Justin is a first-rate lawyer. He doesn't seem very optimistic. Why do you?

EJ: Instincts. Gut feeling. Whatever it is that people call it.

Kristen: I think they call it bribery, blackmail, and intimidation.

EJ: I have no idea what you're talking about, darling.

Kristen: So you have no idea that we DiMeras tend to stack the deck to make sure we win?

EJ: This is going to be a fair trial.

Kristen: I hope so. I'd hate to see with you charged with something stupid like criminal conspiracy.

EJ: Not going to happen.

Kristen: Or leave an opening for Stefano to strike back.

EJ: Kristen, I can assure you, I am firmly in control of the situation. The only thing that matters to me is Samantha. I did not spend my entire life working to be with the woman who I love and trust just to let it slip through my fingers.

Justin: You're thinking Melinda Trask's deal is something you might be able to accept?

Sami: Well, it's my deal, isn't it?

Justin: What do you mean?

Sami: Look, she thinks I can give her Stefano, right? If I do that, wouldn't it be worth more than just ten years? Couldn't I reduce it to, like, time served? Okay, one year. Five years?

Justin: All right, let's just--let's just skip the sentence part. In order for you to give her Stefano, you have to give her EJ. Are you ready to do that?

JJ: Yeah, what?

Rory: Dude, I'm going to see you at the final later, right? You said I could look at your answers?

JJ: Whatever, dude.

JJ: Rory, I could pass the finals with my eyes closed, man. Just gotta take care of some business first.

JJ: Right. People are gonna wanna party after the final gets out, including me. You down?

JJ: Yeah, I'm--I'm fine. See ya.

Jennifer: We need to talk.

[Knocks on door]

Daniel: What?

Man: You should get your door fixed. Package for you.

Man: Can you sign? Have a nice day.

Daniel: Yeah, you too. Stupid time to get a package. "Why don't you get your door fixed?" You know, I don't give a damn--

Adrienne: Roman, I've known you since forever and I definitely know how you feel about your children. So let me ask you this. Wouldn't you have done the same thing to protect one of your own?

Roman: You know what, Adrienne? I'm not gonna stand here and give a lecture on what's right or wrong. You did what you did. Nothing we say or do here is gonna change that.

Adrienne: But, roman, you--

Gabi: I'm sorry, okay. I know that you're trying to help.

Nick: No, no, no, it's honestly no problem. I totally get it. After what I did to--to will and Sonny, leaving me here to babysit is, uh--some people, you know, aren't gonna forgive and forget that, uh--that easily. So, um...no--no history lecture, but what's going on with calculus?

Gabi: Uh, well, she gave us some--she gave us all these problems to solve and then we have to work on these other things on derivatives and then I have my test coming up and-- oh, my God, I am so sorry. Today you had your parole hearing. I didn't even ask you how it went.

Nick: Yeah, I know, I was wondering about that. You should be thinking about me 24/7 instead of thinking about your history lectures and your calculus and what--what's your baby's name again?

Gabi: Shut up, just tell me.

Nick: Uh, I was in and out in seven minutes. I'm a free man.

Gabi: Oh, my gosh, that--that is amazing. Congratulations.

Nick: Thank you. It feels--it feels really good. It feels like maybe I have, like, a-a shot at a good life now. But, um, that's--that's for later. Right now we have to focus on this calculus problem so that we can move on to derivatives.

Gabi: Good luck with that.

Nick: Gabi, it's--honestly, it's pure math. It's logic. Once you understand this, you're--it's gonna be as easy as, like, changing diapers.

Gabi: Okay, great.

EJ: I'm sorry. I missed you and Brady at Chad's opening. It was quite the gala.

Kristen: I know. We were there, we just left early.

EJ: Everything okay?

Kristen: Everything's better than okay. It's righter than right.

EJ: So the two of you are back together then, eh?

Kristen: Mm-hmm. No problems. Well, I forgot to tell you, but I'm sure you already know. You can't tell anybody about this pregnancy scare, not even Daniel.

EJ: I wish I could believe you.

Kristen: Sorry?

EJ: Kristen, I get the feeling that things are not as perfect as you say they are.

Kristen: No, everything's under control. I know what I want. I know how to make it happen.

Sami: Okay, so if I give that bitchy prosecutor something on EJ a he ends up getting arrested, don't you think he could work some deal where if he gives them Stefano, he probably wouldn't have to serve any time at all, right?

Justin: Okay, let me ask you. How do you think EJ will react when you hand him over to the prosecutor?

Sami: He'll be angry, obviously. But he loves me. And he would do anything to save me. He told me that. And he's really smart. I really think he could get out of this. I mean, he's gotten out of worse things than this, right? So if--if the prosecutor reduces my sentence, right, to something doable, something short, then if I hand over EJ, he could work some deal, right, where he doesn't have to serve any time at all if he hands them Stefano. And then Stefano's the one who goes to prison and everybody else wins.

Justin: Mm-hmm. There's a lot of ifs in that long sentence. Have you thought about what might happen if EJ can't deliver Stefano?

Sami: Then that would mean that--

Justin: You and EJ would both be in prison.

Sami: So, is that from Track? I mean, is she freaking out 'cause I haven't taken her offer yet? Maybe we should wait a little bit and then she'll sweeten the deal.

Justin: No, Sami, that was to Sonny. Um, listen, I gotta take off for a little while, but try not to worry.

Sami: That's it? That's what you're gonna tell me? Try not to worry?

Justin: What do you want me to say?

Sami: You're my lawyer. I want you to tell me that you're gonna make sure I don't go down for murder.

Justin: Yeah, well, I certainly don't hope that happens.

[Ari crying]

Jennifer: I have missed seeing this face. I have missed seeing these eyes and this nose and these teeth and these ears and these knees and these shoes and your toys and everything.

Daniel: All right. Oh, come on, Jenn. Pick up. Pick up.

JJ: Look, mom, I'm sorry I called you that name, okay?

Jennifer: You should be sorry.

JJ: I am. I feel awful about it. And honestly, I wish I could take it back, I do. But the rest of it, I'm not sorry in the least. You lied to me.

Jennifer: I never lied to you.

JJ: Mom, you told me over and over that you and Dr. Jonas were done.

Jennifer: No, that is not what I said to you. I said that we were taking a break.

JJ: Oh, come off of it, please. You played word games and made me believe that it was over.

Jennifer: You are gonna sit down right now and we are gonna settle this.

JJ: No, I'm out of here.

Jennifer: No, you are not! Because I have stood here and I have listened to every word that you have said. And I am so tired. And we're gonna sit down and we're gonna settle this. And the first thing that you're gonna understand is that I have never lied to you.

JJ: You know what, mom? I've got a final. You want to make me sit here and listen to you while I miss it?

Jennifer: No, you need to go to school and then you're gonna come right back here and we're gonna finish this conversation.

JJ: You know what, thank you for today. Let's hope I can focus so I don't fail.

Adrienne: Hey, guys.

Sonny: Mom.

Adrienne: Oh, hey. Listen, I--look, I-I understand why you didn't invite me to the opening and everything, but I just wanted to stop by and see the place and it is terrific, honey.

Sonny: Thank you. Yeah, uh, it's just that right now is not a good time for--

Adrienne: Justin, could you please explain to Sonny that I-I just came by to see the place and wish him well.

Justin: Well, actually, Adrienne, I need to speak to Sonny and will alone.

Adrienne: I should leave?

Justin: If you don't mind.

Kristen: So, don't you think Sami's gonna want these pretty soon?

EJ: Yes, I was just about to leave. Why? Is Brady coming around for a midday...snack?

Kristen: No. Not a bad idea though. Actually, I'm gonna go see a friend and--

Jennifer: Hello?

Daniel: Jenn, look, I know this is hard. It was--it was a terrible situation. It got way out of hand.

Jennifer: Is that what happened?

Daniel: I think so. Yes. I--okay, whatever, whatever. I just--I want you to know that I will do anything to help you.

Jennifer: Uh, Daniel, I love you, but I think that you only helped make everything worse. I s trying to figure out a way for all of us to be happy and I just think that if...

Daniel: What? What? What? Agreed to sneak around and lie to people?

Jennifer: I don't know. Maybe. But I really--I can't even think about that right now because I need to concentrate on my son.

Daniel: As opposed to us. Okay, great. So we're gonna take another break and we're just gonna act like we don't care about each other?

Jennifer: I don't know.

Daniel: Jennifer, JJ walked in on us kissing. You can't un-ring the bell. He can't unknow that. And your idea of sneaking around is ridiculous, okay? I won't do it.

Jennifer: Why are you making this all about you?

Justin: If I was your lawyer, which of course I can't be since I'm Sami's, I would advise you to tell the truth. What you both need to do is hire your own attorneys. Look, I'm gonna forward you the names and the numbers of two very good attorneys. I will contact them first and tell them to expect your call, all right? So don't delay, all right? Do this.

Will: Well, um, I guess you call your guy and whatever and I will go relieve Gabi.

JJ: Yep. Wish I could do some myself right now.

Rory: We could. I mean, the final's not for a few hours, but come on, you don't wanna be half-baked during the test, right?

Sami: I can't believe those cops you thought were your friends wanted to crowd in there and give me the evil eye.

Roman: Yeah. And you know EJ's gonna do everything he can to help Justin get you a fair trial.

Sami: Yeah. Just wish there was something I could hang onto.

Roman: Now you listen to me, my beautiful daughter. I love you. You hang onto that, okay?

Sami: Heard from Trask yet? Has she offered a better deal?

Justin: Sami, you can't expect that. The ball's in our court. It's up to us to take it or not. And you should also realize that if Trask gets a jury that she thinks will convict, she could just pull the offer.

Sami: Really?

Justin: I'm afraid so.

EJ: Shoes for milady. Just in time.

Justin: The jury selection starts in ten minutes, you guys.

EJ: And I brought you some tape so that you can stick these up.

Sami: Thank you. God, you know what I want more than this though? To not see these walls ever again.

Adrienne: How could I leave when you're so obviously upset and worried about something?

Sonny: Will and I both got subpoenaed to testify against Sami. And will's thinking about clamming up, but that could put him in prison. But then if he testifies and says everything that he knows, that can make Sami's case worse.

Adrienne: Thank God you're protected.

Sami: I love that you brought me these pictures. But I just wish I could have them in person, you know?

EJ: You will. Okay? Hopefully soon. Samantha, I'm not going to let anything bad happen to you.

Justin: Okay, it's time.

Will: Gabi, why did you think I would be okay with this? Nick Fallon is the last person in the world that I want in this house. It does not matter to me who invites him in.

Kristen: I heard you tell Jennifer that you weren't gonna keep it a secret.

Daniel: And you're talking about you and Brady?

Kristen: Uh, no, that would be...crazy because Brady and I are in love. We don't care who knows about it because we're together.

Daniel: Then what did you think I meant?

Kristen: Nothing. Look, I just came by 'cause I heard that Jennifer was here doing a photo shoot. Clearly she's gone. So I'm just gonna be on my way and I hope your day gets better.

Daniel: Okay, you know what, Kristen? No. No. Because I am so sick of secrets and lies and you are not going anywhere until you tell me what secret you thought I was talking about.
