Episode #12120 ~ Jennifer lets JJ off the hook so they can spend a day with their family.
Provided By Suzanne
Abigail: Oh. A sweet little angel. Was she up a lot last night? Did you get any sleep?
Gabi: Like, four hours.
Abigail: That's it?
Gabi: Yeah. I'll take a nap during the day. What about you?
Abigail: What about me?
Gabi: Sleep. Did you get any last night?
Abigail: Okay, if that is code for "how did things go with Chad?" It was good. Great. Fine. It was not really a big deal.
Gabi: All right. Okay. Well, oh, so you know, Cameron, bachelor number two, stopped by the pub after you left.
Abigail: Wait, Gabi, you didn't tell him that I was with Chad, did you?
[Laughter]
Cameron: Oh, you make me feel like an old man.
Chad: Yo, me too. No, no, I need a break.
Theo: Get up.
Chad: Just five more minutes. Please, please.
Theo: No!
Tad: Happy fourth, everyone. What's up, brother? Hey, man, how you doing?
Chad: Dude, good, good. T, this is Cameron.
Tad: Cameron.
Cameron: Hey.
Chad: And this is little T.
Tad: Little T. How's it going, my man? So where's Sonny, will, and Gabi, and this kid I keep hearing about?
Chad: Uh, not here yet.
Tad: Man, it is crazy they have a kid. Honestly, I got to see it to believe it.
Sonny: You think Ari's gonna be too young for fireworks? Like, they might scare her.
Will: I don't know. I'll have to look that up.
Sonny: But if they do, we could always--could always leave, you know.
Will: Yeah.
Brent: Boom.
Sonny: Oh.
Brent: Two tickets to the July 4th rave. It's gonna be totally insane, man. It's gonna go all night.
Sonny: Remember memorial day last year? Now that was insane.
Brent: Yeah, but that's nothing compared to this, huh? This is the place to be. Come on. You know you want to.
Sonny: She might like the colors. Or she might just sleep through the whole thing. Why are you so serious all of a sudden?
Will: You know what, I was thinking, um, maybe you shouldn't come with us today.
Jennifer: JJ, I've tried so hard to be fair to you and treat you--
JJ: I'm not talking about me. How long did you give him? You, what, mourn dad for, like, eight months before you jumped in the sack with this guy?
Jennifer: Parker! [Gasps] What is that?
Daniel: What?
Jennifer: Oh, my goodness. Is this for me? "Congratulations."
Daniel: Yes, it is. It was a collaboration.
Jennifer: And is that me?
Daniel: Yes, and the hair he got right. I did the lettering.
Jennifer: I love that.
Daniel: But, yeah, he did the--that's you.
Jennifer: Oh, oh, you're gonna blow this out before me. Ready? Wait.
Daniel: Wait, she's gotta make a wish. Let her make a wish.
Jennifer: Oh, wait, that would be dumb to make a wish because I already have everything I want.
[Doorbell rings]
Jennifer: Come in.
Both: Hey.
Adrienne: Good morning. You look so cute.
Jennifer: Thank you. I dug up this cooler for you.
Adrienne: Oh, great.
Jennifer: Is that gonna work?
Adrienne: No, that's perfect.
Jennifer: Okay.
Adrienne: God, I'm so glad that you and Abigail and JJ are coming to the picnic this year.
Jennifer: Oh, we're not.
Adrienne: What? Wha... Jennifer, what's wrong?
Jennifer: Everything.
Sonny: You don't want me to go? I don't get it.
Will: It's not that I don't want you to go. I mean, I just think--I mean, it's the fourth of July. You should do something fun.
Sonny: As opposed to going to a picnic at the lake with you and Arianna and my friends and family? That sounds like torture, yeah.
Will: Look, I just don't want you to feel obligated.
Sonny: Obligated?
Will: Yes, obligated. Tied down. Whatever.
Sonny: I'm not tied down, will. I'm tied to you and Arianna. There's no place that I would rather be. Get over here.
Gabi: No, I-I didn't tell Cameron that you were out on a date with Chad, I didn't.
Abigail: Okay. Thank you.
Gabi: Your name hardly came up, actually.
Abigail: Oh. Huh.
Gabi: You wish it had?
Abigail: Oh, my God, Gabi, I don't know. I don't know what I wish. Honestly, I am such a mess about both of these guys. I mean, last night I had such a great time with Chad, you know. He was sweet and caring, and he doesn't put any pressure on me. You know? Like, I'm worth the wait.
Gabi: And Cameron?
Abigail: He's a little less patient, but I think that that is as much on me as it is on him.
Gabi: Well, maybe that's because he just likes you more.
Abigail: Yeah, I guess that could be the reason. [Sighs] Oh, g--I don't know, Gabi. I'm so confused.
Gabi: Okay, I have an idea. How about you just don't think about it? At least not today.
Abigail: Yeah, that'll happen.
Gabi: It will, if you come with us to the lake.
Abigail: I don't know if I'm in the mood for that, Gabi.
Gabi: Oh, come on, please. It's gonna be so much fun, and if you go, it's gonna be easier for will and Sonny to go off and do their own thing, because they know that you're gonna be keeping me and Ari company. You're gonna be doing me a favor, I promise.
Abigail: Okay, well, if you're sure.
Gabi: Yes, I'm sure. I'm positive. Plus, I need the distraction too.
Abigail: From?
Gabi: Just thinking, you know... about what might have been.
Abigail: You mean with Nick.
Gabi: Yeah.
Abigail: Oh, my God, Gabi. I am so sorry. Seriously, I am, like, the world's worst friend ever. I have been sitting here, complaining about my pathetic love life, and I didn't even ask you about Nick. I'm so sorry. What's going to happen with you two?
Gabi: Nothing, actually. We realized that, um, it's just not going to work between us. Not anymore. My marriage to Nick is over.
Adrienne: Jennifer, I had no idea this was going on.
Jennifer: Oh, yeah. It has been a war zone around here the past few weeks.
Adrienne: I'm so sorry.
Jennifer: And that's why I just think letting JJ go to a holiday picnic is sending the wrong message, you know? Although I can't seem to win no matter what I do, because he just gets madder and madder and more defiant.
Adrienne: Oh, I understand all too well.
Jennifer: Is everything okay with Sonny?
Adrienne: Mm, we're having our problems too.
Jennifer: I'm sorry.
Adrienne: I know, we're in the same boat here.
Jennifer: Great.
Adrienne: I was just hoping that, you know, knowing what we all share and focusing on that and how much we do love each other would help get us back on track. And honestly, that's why I thought all of us should go to the picnic together. And I think that's why you should go too. You and Abigail and JJ.
Jennifer: I don't know, Adrienne.
Adrienne: No, listen, listen, listen. Hanging with friends, family, good food, the beach, could be what you all need. Oh. Oh, honey. Come here, come here. It's so hard, I know, when your child's unhappy. They blame you for it, and they hate you for it. Honey, it's so, so hard.
[Doorbell rings]
JJ: Hey, aunt Adrienne.
Adrienne: JJ, it's good to see you.
Jennifer: I've been, uh, sharing with your aunt a little bit about what's been going on around here. But she thinks it would be really important for our family to spend time together today, so I'm going to give you your choices. You can stay here, and I will call you every 20 minutes on the landline, or you can go to the picnic with Abigail and me.
Adrienne: Your cousins will be there too.
JJ: Sounds cool. I'll, uh, go get my trunks and stuff.
Jennifer: Okay. Maybe you were right.
Adrienne: I know. I know I am. Honey, the three of you spending the day at the lake might just be what the doctor ordered. Hey, speaking of doctors, will Daniel be joining us?
Jennifer: Oh, no.
Adrienne: No?
Jennifer: We're just having some issues right now. But it's okay, because I need to focus on my family, and I need to make things right with my son.
Gabi: Nick and I are getting an annulment. You're the first person I've told.
Abigail: Oh, Gabi, I'm so sorry.
Gabi: I mean, we haven't worked out anything yet, but that's where we left it. We decided yesterday.
Abigail: Gabi, I know that you and Nick had a really tough time, but I could tell-- anyone could-- that you two cared about each other so much. Do you still love him?
Gabi: I really don't know. I mean, yeah, yesterday, I saw him, and it made me sad.
Abigail: Yeah.
Gabi: And sometimes, I really, really miss him. Looks like you're not the only one who's confused about what's in their heart.
Abigail: Oh, Gabi, no. No, my problems don't even compare to yours. I mean, you have a baby and a life that you're responsible for. I can't imagine how hard this is for you.
Gabi: It can be. But I don't want to-- I don't want to deal with that today. I want today to be fun.
Abigail: Okay.
Gabi: I want to go to the lake with my baby and my friends.
Sonny: Hey.
Will: Hey.
Abigail: Hey.
Will: Ready for the picnic? We're packed.
Sonny: Ready to go?
Gabi: Yes, definitely.
Abigail: Do you guys have room for one more?
Will: Um--
[Laughter]
Tad: All right, I reserved a court for us today.
Chad: Great. I'm in.
Tad: Good. Cameron?
Cameron: Sure.
Chad: All right, cool.
Tad: I know I got will and Sonny, but I need--we need one more. Um, what about Abigail Deveraux? She coming?
Adrienne: So cute. Oh, God. Justin, it seems like yesterday we were pushing Sonny in his little stroller.
Justin: Oh, yeah. It goes so fast.
Adrienne: Oh, I know. Too fast. Way too fast.
Gabi: I'm so glad that you came with us.
Abigail: Me too. Especially because I get to spend time with that sweet little Ari.
Will: I'm going to fire up the grill.
Gabi: Already?
Will: Yeah, um, apparently, some guy named Joey chestnut ate 68 hot dogs in ten minutes, and t wants to beat that, so...
Abigail: 68 hot dogs? That's crazy.
Gabi: Oh, wait, hang on. Hey, hey, hey. Let me help you.
Will: All right.
Abigail: Hey, will, uh, I heard that the charges against your mom have been dropped. Your family must be really relieved.
Will: Yeah, we are. Thank you. Uh, listen, thank you so much for keeping quiet about that video clip.
Abigail: Yeah. I wish I'd never seen it.
Will: Yeah, me too. But--but it would have made things really difficult for mom to defend herself, obviously, if that-- God, I'm so--I'm-- I'm dead serious. Thank you so much.
Abigail: Yeah.
Sonny: All right, I think that angle's right.
Gabi: Perfect.
Sonny: See, Ari? Now you're not going to get burned. Look at that smile. She has little gums, those little pink gums.
Gabi: She loves you. Why wouldn't she?
Sonny: She's a great little girl, and I really-- I'm--I'm really hooked on her, you know?
Gabi: Yeah, I've noticed. You two have kind of a special thing going on.
Jennifer: Hello.
Justin: Hey.
Adrienne: Hi.
Jennifer: Hi.
Justin: Hey, happy fourth.
Jennifer: How are you? Happy fourth.
Justin: Good to see you.
Jennifer: This is so great.
Justin: JJ.
JJ: How you doing, buddy?
Justin: Good to see you.
JJ: You too.
Jennifer: Excuse me for one minute. I am going over to see that baby.
Adrienne: So cute.
Justin: Enjoy.
Adrienne: Hey, want to sit with us?
JJ: Yeah, absolutely.
Adrienne: Excellent. Come on, sit down.
Justin: Hope you're hungry, JJ.
JJ: Yeah, for sure.
Adrienne: Do you have sunscreen on?
Abigail: [Clears throat]
JJ: Uh, you're blocking my sun.
Abigail: Well, you're lucky you're getting any. So much for getting grounded, huh?
Tad: Hey, you remember the last time we played volleyball? Abigail's jump serve? Oh, come on. Pretending like--like you don't remember? It was totally awesome. We called her "the hammer." Boom.
Chad: No.
Theo: The hammer? That's a cool name.
Tad: That's right, kid. The hammer. It was just like, boom. You got a nickname? No? All right. You're tall. How about "stretch"?
Theo: Yeah.
Tad: Yeah? All right. I'm telling you, me, the stretch, and the hammer-- we're going to be huge. So is she coming or not?
Cameron: I-I don't know.
Chad: I don't know, man.
Tad: All right, well, I'm going to go get commitments for this team. Stretch, make sure they stretch. I don't want any pulled muscles on my court. You hear me? Go.
Theo: Can we play pickle in the middle again?
Chad: [Groans]
Theo: Please?
Chad: All right, let's do it. Help me up, help me up.
Cameron: Oh, gosh.
Chad: Let's do it.
JJ: Just so you know, abs, mom filled the lecture quota for the day. For the decade, actually.
Adrienne: Boys will be boys.
Abigail: [Sighs]
Adrienne: Boys will be boys.
Jennifer: Oh, Gabi, she is so precious.
Gabi: Thank you. Yeah, when she's not screaming her little head off.
[Both laughing]
Jennifer: Of course.
Gabi: Hey, JJ.
JJ: Hey. God. Wow, she has really tiny hands, huh?
Gabi: Yeah, babies usually do.
Jennifer: I'm sure you could hold her. I mean, if that's all right with you.
Gabi: Of course, yeah. Here you go. Ari, look. Look who this is. Hi.
JJ: Hello. Hello, Arianna. I'm JJ. Wow, she's super cute.
Gabi: Thank you. I think she likes you. Hi. See?
JJ: Wow.
[Laughter]
Jennifer: Adrienne, you were right. This was really--really the perfect thing for my family today.
Adrienne: Aw.
Jennifer: I have not seen my son smile like that in a long time.
Adrienne: Jennifer, the way he's holding that baby-- oh, my gosh. He's such a good boy.
Jennifer: Yeah. I know he is, he's--
[Cell phone ringing]
Jennifer: Oh, excuse me. I'm sorry.
Adrienne: That's okay.
Jennifer: Clive? Clive, hey. What? Oh, uh-- yes. Okay. I-I'll be there in a few minutes. Wow, I guess Sami's non-indictment has caused a parade of rumors about a hospital cover-up, so now I need to leave, unfortunately.
Adrienne: Oh, Jennifer. On fourth of July?
Jennifer: I know. I'm sorry. But hopefully, I'll be able to come back.
Adrienne: Oh, I hope so.
Justin: Yeah.
Jennifer: Hey, um, in the meantime... will you just, uh, make sure he stays close?
Adrienne: Of course. Don't worry about it.
Justin: We'll keep an eye on him.
Jennifer: Okay.
JJ: Hey, uh, my trunks are in the beach bag, right?
Jennifer: Uh, yeah, they are, honey, but one second, I need to talk to you, please. I need to run over to the hospital. There's something there that I need to deal with.
JJ: Um, okay. What does this have to do with me?
Jennifer: Well, nothing, except that I need you to stay right here with family.
JJ: Uh, okay. I'll see you later.
Jennifer: Yeah. Um, I may be coming back. I mean, I hope so.
JJ: All right. Me too.
Jennifer: Okay. Bye. Be good. Um, Adrienne, will you just hang on to my beach bag, please?
Adrienne: Oh, sweetheart, don't worry about it. I've got it.
Jennifer: I'll be back, hopefully.
Adrienne: Okay, you better be. Oh.
JJ: Hey, aunt Adrienne.
Adrienne: Hi, JJ.
JJ: Water's nice and warm.
Adrienne: Oh, yeah?
JJ: Yeah.
Adrienne: Maybe I'll go in in a little bit.
JJ: Yeah, you should.
Adrienne: You know, JJ, I wanted to talk to you for a minute. When I saw you holding the baby before, I have to tell you, you so reminded me of your father.
JJ: Oh, yeah?
Adrienne: Yeah. In fact, I remember a time when you were really little, just a baby. In fact, you'd just started walking maybe a month or two. And you were really strong. And you'd managed to climb up onto your changing table, and you were so proud of yourself. And then you lost your balance, and you fell. I mean, it's not funny, but you fell right on the floor, flat on your face. And you had this goose egg like I've never seen before, and your poor little nose was all swollen. It was bad.
JJ: I've never heard this story before.
Adrienne: Oh. Oh, it was a horror story. You were screaming and crying. You wouldn't let anyone near you, except for your dad. He scooped you up in his arms. He started making these funny faces at you and doing these silly little voices like he does-- like he did. And you calmed right down. Your father loved you so much, JJ. He did. You must miss him terribly.
JJ: Yeah. You must miss him too.
Adrienne: I do. Of course I do. And it breaks my heart that he's gone... but especially for you, because I know how much a boy needs his father. Something else you should know that I know-- your father would have wanted you to live a good and happy life. You--seriously, listen to me. You, your sister, and your mother. Honey, he wouldn't want her to be alone.
JJ: I'm going to go put some dry clothes on.
Adrienne: Sure, you do that.
Justin: All right, I got the buns. Guess I'll start grilling soon.
Abigail: Hey, do you know where my brother's going?
Justin: Yeah, I just overheard him say he's going to go change.
Tad: Are you sure I'm doing this right?
Will: Yeah. Just keep--just keep supporting her head, yeah.
Tad: She's staring at me.
Will: Don't take it personally.
Gabi: Aww.
Tad: She's grabbing my finger.
Gabi: That means she's crazy about you.
Tad: Really?
Gabi: Yeah.
Will: No, she means she--
Sonny: She does that with everyone.
Brent: Hey.
Sonny: Hey, Brent.
Brent: Hey.
Sonny: What's up, man? Um, you remember will, right?
Brent: Yeah. Yeah, sure. Hi.
Will: Hey.
Brent: How's it going, t?
Tad: Good. Good.
Brent: Wow. That is-- it's hard to believe that's your kid, will.
Will: I know, yep. Mine and Gabi's.
Gabi: Hi.
Brent: Hey. It's crazy, you know, that you're a father now. Must feel like your whole life is different.
Will: It is, but in--in a good way.
Brent: Well, hey, I give it to you, man. I mean, it's-- you know, it's, like, really mature you can look at it that way.
Will: Mature, thanks.
Brent: Well, yeah. Yeah, 'cause, you know, for me, it would be-- be a whole lot more responsibility than I could handle right now.
Will: Mm-hmm. Probably.
Abigail: JJ?
Theo: [Laughs]
Abigail: Oh, hey, Theo. Are you all alone out here?
Theo: We're playing. Can you be in the middle?
Chad: Oh.
Sonny: Will is not just a dad. But he's a great dad. And Ari and I are lucky to have him, you know?
Tad: All right. Enough of this serious talk.
Gabi: What?
Tad: Who's up for some volleyball?
Sonny: I'm down.
Brent: I've got an inflatable joust set in my car. We could get a term and go out on the lake.
Tad: Yes.
Sonny: That'd be even better.
Gabi: Good idea.
Tad: And I gotta work up an appetite for my hot dog eating contest.
Gabi: All right, give her over here. Let's go, monkey. Hey. Guys, Ari is actually due for her nap, so go ahead. Go out without me, 'Kay?
Will: You sure?
Gabi: Yeah. Go have fun.
Sonny: Well, you know what? How about we'll watch her later, and this way, you can have fun. It'll be your turn, okay?
Gabi: Don't worry about it.
Sonny: Okay.
Brent: We'll, uh-- I'll go get the equipment.
Tad: All right, cool.
Brent: Be right back, guys.
Gabi: He's cute.
Sonny: Brent?
Gabi: Yeah, who else would I be talking about?
Sonny: Well, he does play for the other team, so--
Tad: Hey, that never stopped her, though. I mean-- I'm just saying.
Gabi: Really?
Tad: What?
Will: I'm gonna kill him.
Sonny: [Chuckles]
Cameron: Uh, Theo, maybe Abigail's busy with her family.
Theo: Which team, Abigail? Uncle Cameron's or uncle Chad's?
Abigail: You know what, Theo? How about if I'm on your team? How about that?
Theo: Yeah.
JJ: Hey, bro. It's me. Where are you? Grounded? Nah, it's independence day. I'm a free man.
Jennifer: Listen, Sami Brady's sole intent on pulling that trigger was to protect the life of a defenseless patient in this hospital. And the grand jury's failure to indict, it just proves ms. Brady's version of events. Okay, thank you. Call me if you need anything else. Okay. Good-bye.
Anne: Oh, wow. I should--I should take a picture. You know, to document a Horton coming to work on a holiday. This is like a once-in-a-lifetime event. Aww.
Jennifer: Happy fourth, Anne.
Anne: Uh, hey, I need to talk to you.
Jennifer: You need to talk to me? You didn't even know I was going to be here.
Anne: All right, well, I know now, and I need to discuss something with you of--of a personal nature.
JJ: Hey, dude, so you can hold this for me?
Rory: Yeah, is this all of it?
JJ: No, I kept a little. I'm just worried that my paranoid mother's going to violate my constitutional right to privacy and go looking for this stuff.
Rory: Hey, well, you've hooked me up. I can do this.
JJ: Thanks.
Bev: I broke up with Cole, F.Y.I. You were so totally right about him.
Rory: Yeah, he was going to screw it up for all of us. Also, dude, you took one for the team with that shoplifting thing.
JJ: Yeah, whatever, dude.
Bev: No, it was really cool, what you did. Amazing, actually.
JJ: Well, that's me. Cool and amazing.
Bev: It's true. So, um, what are you doing the rest of the day?
JJ: I, uh, I've, uh-- I've gotta go home. I had a grounding furlough, but in order to meet with you guys, I, uh, had to send my aunt a text, said I was sick, so now I gotta go home and act it.
Rory: Dude. That sucks, that you gotta go through all of that.
JJ: Mm-hmm. Yep.
Rory: Well, I got this covered for you, though.
JJ: Thank you, sir.
Bev: See you soon?
JJ: Yeah, I-I guess.
Rory: Later, dude.
JJ: Later.
Bev: Bye.
Theresa: Hi.
Justin: Hey. Oh, is she asleep?
Gabi: Just about.
Justin: Hey, Gabi, I wanted to tell you that I was, uh, contacted by Nick.
Gabi: Yeah. Uh, he, uh-- he did say he wanted to talk to a lawyer.
Justin: He asked me to handle the annulment.
Gabi: Right.
Justin: I'm sorry that it didn't work out for you two. I know it must be really hard.
Gabi: It is, yeah. But, uh, you know, it's the best thing. Not just for me, but for Nick too.
Brent: So you thought any more about going to the rave tonight, Sonny? Like I said, man, it's going to be totally insane. I really want you to--
Sonny: I-I know it's going to be, but like I said, I-I can't.
Brent: All right, well, just, you know, let me know if you change your mind. I still have an extra ticket.
Sonny: I probably won't, um, so maybe you should give it to someone else. I just don't want you to waste a ticket.
Tad: Man, I'm going to have a head rush for months, blowing up these paddles, but we are set, boys.
Sonny: All right, you ready?
Tad: Mm-hmm, yeah.
Sonny: You ready?
Tad: After you.
Abigail: You are the man. That was awesome. Ooh, five. And they are the also men.
[Bell ringing]
Theo: Ice cream!
Cameron: Oh, Theo, hang on.
Chad: No, no, I got it. I think I got a wet five in my trunks. Be right back.
Abigail: [Clears throat] I know, my hair's, like, already frizzing.
Cameron: Oh, no, you look-- you look beautiful.
Abigail: Hey, I'm sorry that I ruined your guy time with Theo.
Cameron: Oh, you didn't. We could all use a break.
Abigail: Right.
Cameron: Anyway, you being here, it's all good.
Abigail: Oh, wow. Thank you, Theo. Now that is what I call a real gentleman. I'm going to go hang out with Gabi. I said that I would help with the baby.
Cameron: Okay.
Abigail: You rock, little dude.
Theo: You rock. You should get some ice cream too.
Cameron: Oh, okay. Let's do it. When it comes to getting my family to eat breakfast,
Adrienne: Honey, too bad we're so old. That looks like fun.
Justin: You want some ice?
Adrienne: No, I don't want any ice.
Justin: How about a kiss?
Adrienne: Don't you-- oh! Going to get you!
Justin: [Laughing]
Gabi: So was it awkward?
Abigail: Actually, no. It wasn't. Cameron and Chad were totally cool, so it felt fine. I mean, at least for me, anyway.
Gabi: Well, that's a relief, huh?
Abigail: Yeah. I mean, I kind of wish that one of them would have been a jerk, because then it would have made it so much easier to decide who I would give my heart and soul to for all of eternity, you know?
Gabi: Right.
[Both laughing]
Adrienne: Careful where you put that thing.
Will: Okay. Thanks.
Tad: Man, I don't know how you put up with him.
Will: I know. Oh, you mean Sonny?
Tad: Yeah. He's good at everything.
Will: Yeah.
Tad: Slaughtered us in that race. But he's not going to win that hot dog eating contest. That's mine, baby.
Will: It's not a contest. You're eating hot dogs by yourself. Hey. So he, uh-- Sonny beat you too?
Brent: Yeah, right after he got you guys.
Will: Yeah.
Brent: He seems happy.
Will: Seems?
Brent: Look, I wasn't implying that he isn't.
Will: Oh, I'm--I'm-- well, what were you implying?
Brent: Will, will, you really have to get this through your head. Sonny and I are just friends. Nothing else, okay? We used to go to clubs, concerts, and stuff, but with other people, in groups. We never hooked up.
Will: I know. I know that.
Brent: Look, I didn't mean to offend you or anything. It's just-- I don't know, it's-- you know, it's weird, seeing Sonny living this totally different kind of life than he was living before...
Will: Mm-hmm.
Brent: All settled down.
Will: Yeah. What's your point?
Brent: I'm not trying to make a point. It's just an observation.
Will: Great. Um, I-I also made an observation, and that is that sometimes, life doesn't go as you planned, but you find yourself happier than you ever thought you could be.
Brent: All right. All right. And that's-- you know, that's obviously what's happening with you and Sonny. I can tell he really loves you. I mean, he must, to give up so much to be with you.
Will: Right.
Anne: Human resources is my domain, Jennifer.
Jennifer: Really? I didn't know that.
Anne: Let me finish. And because I take my position very seriously, I also take it very personally that you overstepped your bounds regarding a recent decision I made.
Jennifer: No, I didn't overstep your bounds, and you know I didn't. I followed procedure to the letter.
Anne: Right, of course you did, of course you did. What was I thinking? 'Cause you're always crossing your "T's and dotting your "I's. I mean, that's just who you are.
Jennifer: Now you've just completely contradicted yourself. Is this a little early dementia, Anne?
Anne: [Laughs] That's-- my God, who knew you were so witty?
Jennifer: I know, right?
Anne: Yeah.
Jennifer: See you later.
Anne: So, Jenn, your son... is he a chip off the old block?
Jennifer: What kind of question is that?
Anne: I don't know, just wondering...if he is always following the rules. You know, like his mommy.
[Firecrackers snapping]
Theresa: So this is what passes as fireworks in this town, huh? Whoo-hoo.
JJ: Um, you know, I could show you some real fireworks tonight.
Theresa: Oh, yeah?
JJ: Yeah, yeah. Tonight at the lake after dark?
Theresa: Wow, what a cool idea. You know, I think we should go right now and save some seats and get us a prime spot. Oh, wait, you can't go out for the fireworks tonight, can you? Not with that curfew that your mommy gave you.
Sonny: [Exhales] What's up?
Will: I am done jousting, but you, my dear, dear friend, have a bright future ahead of you, I think.
Sonny: I think I do. I know.
Adrienne: Hi, guys.
Sonny: Hey.
Adrienne: Hey, you did really good out there.
Sonny: Oh, thank you.
Adrienne: You guys having fun?
Will: Yeah.
Sonny: It's a great day. Water's wonderful.
Will: Wet, yeah.
[Laughter]
Adrienne: Um... will, you know, I know this isn't probably the right time or place, but I just... I wanted the chance to say that I am really glad that charges weren't brought against Sami.
Will: Thank you.
Adrienne: And I know when we all heard the news at first, that--that I wasn't as effusive as I should have been, you know, and as sad as the situation is, with a man losing his life, I do know that Sami would never shoot someone for no reason. And I really am sorry if I was insensitive to your feelings.
Will: It's okay. I understand. It's good.
Justin: All right, ladies, here we go. Fresh off the grill.
Abigail: Ooh, yum.
Gabi: Thank you so much.
Abigail: Hey, Justin, do you know if my brother's back from changing yet?
Justin: Oh, we should have told you. Uh, he texted Adrienne. Evidently he's not feeling well, and he decided to go home.
Abigail: Oh.
Justin: What do you think?
Gabi: Okay, let's see. This one.
JJ: Hey, you know what I do with those lame-ass curfews my mom throws me?
Theresa: Mm, can't wait to hear.
JJ: I ignore 'em. Totally.
Theresa: Well, aren't you a little rebel?
JJ: Hey, I'm not little.
Theresa: Sorry. You're a big, grown-up rebel.
JJ: I'll show you a really, really good time.
Theresa: Yeah? Except I'm not really looking to pick up any extra cash with a baby-sitting gig, so...
JJ: [Laughs] Oh, I don't think you take me seriously...which is your loss.
Theresa: Well...I'll tell you what. You let me in on that little bit that you told your friend you were holding, and I'll take you real seriously. John, it's over.
Jennifer: If you have something to say about my son, just say it.
Anne: No, I don't have much to say at all. I just heard he was back in town. I cannot wait to meet this kid. He must bring you so much happiness and pride, which you so richly deserve.
JJ: I'm not holding, but I can be.
Theresa: [Chuckles]
JJ: Give me your cell. Soon as I go home and get it, um, we could get high and see what happens.
Theresa: Yeah...no. See you in the candy store.
JJ: Oh, come on, don't be like that. Hey, what's your name?
Abigail: Chad, oh, my God, what happened?
Theo: Uncle Chad hit his head.
Abigail: Are you okay?
Chad: Yeah, I'm fine, okay? I was trying to do a log roll on the jousting float, and I must have hit an actual log on the bottom of the lake. It was just a rookie move.
Cameron: Wait, wait, whoa, look at me, man. This could be a concussion.
Chad: Oh, well, I'm definitely not going to the hospital, if that's where you're going with this, Cameron.
Cameron: We have to watch this, Chad. Any head injury--
Abigail: No, Chad, he--he's right. You can't take any chances, please. I won't let you.
Chad: I'm totally fine. Now come on. Let's get back to this game.
Sonny: [Groans] Long nap.
Will: Yeah, she skipped her earlier one.
Sonny: Right. You've been pretty quiet all day today.
Will: Really?
Sonny: Uh-huh.
Will: Well, I got this... dumb art history exam I gotta make up and gotta study all night tonight. You know what you should do?
Sonny: Hmm?
Will: You should go out. Do something.
Sonny: No, no, I just want to be here with you.
Will: What do you mean, "no"? Come on, Gabi and I could handle the baby, and you should go out and do something fun.
Sonny: Well, what could be more fun than this? You know--look, she's waking up. Hey. Hey, sweet pea.
Justin: Honey, we can do this later.
Adrienne: No, no, no, no, no, it's a really short video, but it's really cute. Ari's making these cute little faces, and will's smiling. It's so sweet.
Sonny: Mom, dad, come here. Come check this out. I swear, she's trying to roll over already.
Adrienne: Roll over? Did he say "roll over"? I think--
Justin: Roll over, that's a major milestone, isn't it?
Adrienne: I believe so. I think we should go.
Justin: I guess we gotta go.
Adrienne: Come on.
Justin: Here we go. All right, let's see this amazing feat.
Adrienne: [Chuckles] Aw, hey, aw...
Justin: Oh, there's her amazing feat. It is an amazing feat.
Adrienne: Oh, she's just waking up.
Will: We tied her up. She can't move.
Adrienne: Aw, how cute.
Justin: I'm not sure that's a roll.
Adrienne: Yeah, hon...
Will: She's doing the worm.
Adrienne: She might have a little bit of difficulty doing a roll.
Justin: Kind of a twist.
Adrienne: But it's--it's close, it's close. It's soon, it's coming. [Laughs]
