Nicole: [Sighs]

Chloe: Why are you really working here? You don't need the money, and you don't believe in The Church. So, what's the attraction?

Guard: Father, this is Vargas.

Vargas: My name is Vargas.

Eric: Mr. Vargas. It's a pleasure to meet you. Please, take a seat. I'm sure you know why I'm here.

Vargas: You want to help people like me with life on the outside.

Eric: Right, exactly.

Vargas: All due respect, Father, I was raised Catholic. But given what I've done with my life, I don't think The Church is gonna want me back.

Will: You want me out of my baby's life because I'm gay?

Nick: Yes.

Will: I thought we were good, though. I mean, I thought that you were okay with me, you know? You let me take your place at Gabi's sonogram and see my baby. I mean, Sonny said that you were setting me up, but I told him he was wrong.

Nick: Your boyfriend was right.

Sonny: I just wish that I would have been in his life when all that started happening, you know?

Kate: Well, we all have regrets about what might have been, but I-- I have a feeling that this is about more than that. Sonny, is there something going on in Will's life that I don't know about? Does Will need my help?

Rafe: You ever ask Nick about what happened to him in prison?

Gabi: Yeah. Yeah, I've asked him, but every time we talk about it, he just shuts down. Obviously something horrible happened. Somebody tried to kill him.

EJ: I will do anything you want me to do.

Sami: I want Nick Fallon gone.

EJ: Do you know what you're saying?

Sami: I know exactly what I am saying. Nick is hurting my son. I offered him anything to make him stop, and he wouldn't. He had his chance and he blew it. So now, he has to go.

Nicole: Okay, well Eric's my friend, as you know, and he needed a secretary and I needed a sanctuary, so...

Chloe: So, what, that's a match made in heaven? Nicole, come on. Spas, cruises, beaches on the south of France, those are sanctuaries. This is an old dusty church.

Nicole: Okay, I'm kind of busy, so what can I do for you?

Chloe: [Sighs] Look, I know that things have been scratchy between us since I've been back, but I miss you. And I miss our friendship.

Nicole: Yeah, I kinda miss you too.

Chloe: And obviously you have something on your mind. And while I'm sure the nuns here are great listeners, virgins tend to be kind of judgmental.

Nicole: [Chuckles] Ain't that the truth.

Chloe: So come on. Just between us bad girls, tell me what's going on? Maybe I can help.

Eric: Our outreach program isn't about religion. I mean, you're free to practice any faith of your choice, or-- or none at all. Our goal is to help you find a way on the outside. You've been in here a long time.

Vargas: Ten years. But I was only sentenced to serve seven.

Will: Okay, you let me think that we all wanted the same thing, and that we were all gonna raise this baby together, and now you're telling me that you wanted me out of the way from the beginning.

Nick: Will, I've always wanted what was best for Gabi's baby.

Will: How is what's best for her never seeing her father? Why--what--how is what's best for her keeping me away from her all the time?

Nick: You know what, Will, your mother made it impossible for me to even consider having you be a part of this child's life. With her threats and her accusations, she was terrorizing Gabi. She left us no choice.

Will: Who is us? Who's us? Gabi? Does Gabi know about this?

Nick: No, okay, it was my choice, all right? Not Gabi's. And I did it to protect the baby.

Will: From me. You really hate me that much because I'm gay?

Sami: Nick Fallon is claiming that he's doing what he has to do to protect this child. So it justifies his behavior. He is hurting my son. He is going to keep my son from his own child, and I cannot allow that. Nick does not know who he is messing with, and I will do anything to protect my son.

EJ: Let me just get this straight. When you say you want Nick gone, you mean that you want him dead, yes?

Nicole: [Sighs] The thing is, uh--well, I've been a little tormented lately about various things. Conflicted. [Chuckles] What else is new?

[Phone rings]

Chloe: Hmm. Oh, sorry. Oh, it's my mom. I just have to text her back. She's actually coming to stay here for a while, to help me with Parker.

Nicole: Really? Your mom? I'm surprised Victor agreed to that.

Chloe: Uh--oh! I didn't tell you. I moved out of that Kiriakis dungeon. I'm staying at Daniel's place now.

Nicole: You're what?

Chloe: Well don't get too excited. Daniel's staying at a hotel.

Nicole: Okay, let me get this straight. So you and Parker moved in, and Daniel moved out.

Chloe: For now.

Nicole: I told you it was gonna be hard to pry Daniel away from Jennifer.

Chloe: I know. I should have listened to you.

Nicole: Mm.

Chloe: You have some experience dealing with Daniel's obsession with Jen-Jen.

Nicole: I do indeed.

Chloe: And since you recently went to battle with her, I was hoping maybe you'd share a few cautionary tales with me. What do you say?

Rafe: I already know that Nick was stabbed when he was in prison.

Gabi: How do you know that, Rafe?

Rafe: I read his file.

Gabi: Oh, yeah?

Rafe: Yeah.

Gabi: [Sighs]

Rafe: Oh, come on. Don't give me that look. I gotta make sure that my baby sister is gonna be okay. Four years of incarceration? [Chuckles] Could do a lot of bad things to anyone, especially a guy like Nick.

Gabi: Okay, what does that mean, "a guy like Nick"?

Rafe: Well, he's not the biggest guy. And trust me, because I've put a lot of them behind bars, I know what goes on. It's not pretty.

Gabi: [Sighs] I know that, okay? I know. But Nick is a very smart guy, okay? He would totally use that to his advantage.

Rafe: Well, actually, it probably made him more of a target. And what I really want to know is why he refused to give the name of the guy who stabbed him?

Eric: Do you mind if I call you by your first name?

Vargas: Thing is, I've been Vargas for as long as I can remember. So if it's all right with you, Father, I'd rather keep it that way.

Eric: That's fair enough. So you said your original sentence was seven years.

Vargas: Yes, it was. I'm not gonna make any excuses. I accept responsibility for what I did outside those walls as well as in here.

[Door opens]

Hope: Sorry. Well, thank you, gentlemen. That call took longer than expected.

Eric: No, it's okay. Vargas, this is Detective Brady. She is the lead liaison for our program.

Vargas: Ah, ma'am.

Hope: I didn't mean to interrupt. Please, sit down. [Both clearing throat] Finish what you were saying.

Vargas: Uh, if it's all the same to you, I--I think I've talked enough here. I think I should listen to what you have to say and Father Eric here.

Sonny: Yeah, Will's just, you know, going through a lot right now.

Kate: Okay, well I know that Sami rocked the boat in her usual self-serving way, but it seems to me that things have calmed down. I mean, Gabi and Will and Nick seem to have really...worked things out.

Sonny: Yeah, I mean they, uh, they have. They've worked things out.

Kate: Okay, now, wait. You positively flinched when I mentioned Nick's name. Now, is Nick causing problems for Will?

Nick: I don't hate you, Will.

Will: Why did you just make me give up any claim I had to my own daughter?

Nick: It's not personal. It never has been. I'm just protecting Gabi's baby.

Will: From me? From her own father?

Nick: I'll be there for her, Will. I'll be there for her, always. Why is that not good enough for you now? Why can't you see this the way that you did before?

Will: Because the way that I saw it before was wrong! The way I rationalized it before was wrong. I was not thinking straight!

Nick: Well--

Will: And I thought that you understood that.

Nick: Have you considered the fact that maybe you're not thinking straight now?

Will: [Sighs] N-no.

Nick: Will. Will. When you found out that Gabi was gonna have a baby, you were perfectly content to go on with the rest of your life without her, and let Gabi and me raise the baby as our own.

Will: I was never--I was never perfectly content, and you know that. I was confused.

Nick: That's right, you were confused, and you're still confused. Nothing has changed.

Will: Everything has changed! Everything has changed! From the moment that I saw my baby, from the moment that I felt her kick, everything changed for me. I felt such--

Nick: You felt a connection? You felt a connection? I warned you that would happen, Will. I warned you. I tried to tell you that if you spent time with this baby, even before it was born, that you would develop an emotional connection.

Will: I have an emotional connection!

Nick: That's because you didn't listen to me. And that's your fault, okay?

Will: Okay, you are the one who is separating me from my daughter. That is on you! You are the one who is keeping me from her.

Nick: How can you not see that this child will be better off with two parents...

Will: She--

Nick: In a loving, stable relationship? How can you not see that you're saving your daughter years of confusion and heartache and embarrassment? How can it be good for her, Will? How can it be good for her to see you popping in and out of her life with whomever you happen to be sleeping with?

Will: I am with Sonny.

Nick: Yeah, now. And for how long? And when you're done with him, how many other guys will there be?

Will: Sonny and I are both looking forward to being a part...

Nick: No, no, no, no!

Will: A big part, of my daughter's--

Nick: You can just forget it! You two want something to love, get a dog. Because you and your boyfriend are not gonna screw up Gabi's baby.

Sami: Oh, yeah, if Nick was dead, it would just make-- no. No. No. EJ, we can't do that, okay? I'm serious, we--we have to find another way to get Nick out of the way without actually killing him. I mean, he makes me sick, the way that he thinks he's so justified in judging all of us just because he's marrying a girl who's pregnant with someone else's baby.

EJ: It should.

Sami: There's gotta be another way, right? Another way we can take care of him without actually, you know, killing him?

EJ: But what if there's not another way? What if Nick has to die to make sure he can never hurt your son again? Can you live with that?

Chloe: Maybe if you told me what happened with you and Daniel--

Nicole: Okay. [Sighs] Here you go, on the house.

Chloe: What am I gonna do with this?

Nicole: Well, first you can get down on your knees--pretty sure you know how to do that-- and you can strike up a conversation with the big guy above because I am out of answers, sweetheart.

Chloe: Nicole, I just thought that--

Nicole: Yeah, I know what you thought. You're more transparent than your wardrobe. You didn't come here because you missed me or our friendship.

Chloe: Yes, I did.

Nicole: No, you came here because you wanted information about Daniel so you can get him back in your bed. That's the only reason you came back here. Just a-a little tidbit so you can blow Daniel and Jennifer out of the water and get your greedy hands back on him. Well, you're out of luck.

Chloe: Wow. I knew it. You're still in love with him.

Nicole: [Sighs] I am not in love with anyone.

Chloe: Liar.

Vargas: I know a lot has changed since I walked through those prison gates, but so have I. I'm not the same man that I was, made all those mistakes that landed me in here.

Eric: You know, if you're committed to keeping your life on the straight and narrow, Detective Brady and I, we both know some people who are willing to offer you some help in Salem.

Vargas: [Whispering] Salem?

Eric: Yeah, that's where we're from. That's where our prison outreach program will be based, in St. Luke's.

Vargas: That's your church?

Eric: Yes.

Vargas: I'm sure you're talking to a lot of other inmates here. I just feel blessed to have this opportunity, and I'm most definitely interested.

Gabi: Rafe, look. Nick doesn't know who stabbed him. Okay, that's why he can't I.D. Anyone.

Rafe: Well, well, from what I've read it seems like Nick is hiding something.

Gabi: Stop. Okay, that's it. I don't want to talk about this any more than Nick does, all right? That's in the past, and we're trying to move on. That's why we're getting married tomorrow.

Rafe: Yeah.

Sami: EJ, there's got to be another way. Another way to deal with Nick. I shouldn't even have asked you for this. I know you are trying to be a better man for me. We're both trying to be better people, and I don't want you to ever stop listening to your better angels just for me.

EJ: But what if there isn't another way? Can't you understand, Samantha? Nick's not just hurting William. He's also hurting this innocent girl by depriving her of her father, and I know exactly how terrifying and heartbreaking that is. Now, you're asking me to do what is right by that little girl, and that is exactly what I'm going to do.

Will: You're sick.

Nick: I'm sick? You want this baby to have three fathers. No. No. She will be normal. You and Sonny, that's what's sick. [Sighs] Look... this isn't getting us anywhere, Will. You signed away your parental rights, and you're not getting them back. But look at what you got in return, right? You saved your own ass, and you kept your grandfather and your father and Uncle Bo and Aunt Hope from paying the price for this miscarriage of justice. It's a win-win for all the Hortons. You should be thanking me, Will. Stepping up. Providing your child with the type of home every kid deserves. Your daughter will have a wonderful life. I promise you that. I'm sorry that--that you won't be able to be a part of it. But you're just gonna have to learn to live with that.

Chloe: Don't try to deny it, Nicole. I know you. And I know how hard it is to want someone that everyone is telling you you can't have.

Nicole: Oh, my God!

Chloe: Because I love Daniel too. But he and I belong together. We share a son, and that means something.

Nicole: Okay, all right. Let's just say that you do the impossible and get back together with Daniel. He's not gonna be happy with you.

Chloe: And what, he's gonna be happy with Jennifer? How can you not hate her?

Nicole: Because, I've been there, I've done that, and it wasn't that great a trip.

Chloe: You know, living in the convent has totally ruined you. Since when do you care about doing the right thing?

Nicole: I care about you using me to get to Daniel.

Chloe: Oh, yeah, and using someone is so beneath you. Nicole, you are just as bad as I am, if not worse. You are scarred and damaged and twisted, and it doesn't matter how many days you live under this roof, you are never gonna be one of the good girls. Sorry to tell you.

Both: Oh!

Eric: I'm so sorry, excuse me.

Chloe: Sorry.

Eric: Chloe?

Chloe: Eric. Oh, wow, I-I barely recognized you.

Eric: Yeah, new collar.

Chloe: It's very becoming.

Nicole: Okay, she was just leaving.

Chloe: No, actually, I was not. I'm here because I needed to see you...

Nicole: Mm.

Chloe: Father Eric.

Sonny: No, there's no problem. Like you said, Nick and Gabi and Will are--they're cool. Just been a rough couple months for Will. And like I said, I'm just glad to be in his corner.

Kate: Well, I'm glad too.

Sonny: But if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna take care of some stuff behind the bar.

Kate: Okay.

Sonny: Good talk.

Will: Hey, Grandma.

Kate: I want to speak to you.

Will: Oh, you know what? Now is not a-a great time.

Kate: Yeah, yeah, I'm sure it's not. You know, I had to just about beat it out of Sonny, but I know all about your problem, and I want to help you.

Gabi: So are you gonna be there tomorrow?

Rafe: I'm gonna do everything I can to be there for you when you marry Nick.

Gabi: [Gasps] Oh, Rafe. Oh, my gosh, come here.

Rafe: Mm.

Gabi: Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.

Rafe: Okay.

Gabi: You don't know how much this means to me. I'm so happy.

Nick: I'm back.

Gabi: Oh, my gosh. Look, I have amazing news.

Nick: What?

Gabi: Rafe gave us his blessing.

Nick: What?

Gabi: Yeah.

Nick: Wow, Rafe. Thank you so much. I-I promise you that I am gonna dedicate my life to keeping Gabi safe and--and making her happy.

Rafe: I'm gonna hold you to that.

Nick: Yeah.

Rafe: I love you.

Gabi: I love you too.

Rafe: Okay.

Gabi: I'll see you tomorrow. You'll be there?

Rafe: See you tomorrow. Yep, I'll be there.

Gabi: Okay.

Nick: See you, Rafe.

Rafe: See ya.

Gabi: Hey, so are you really okay?

[Door closes]

Nick: I'm better than okay. Better than okay. Oh, tomorrow I am marrying the girl of my dreams...

Gabi: Mm.

Nick: And there isn't anything or anyone who can get in the way of our happily ever after.

EJ: If it were made to appear that Nick had broken the conditions of his parole, then he'd have to go back to prison to serve the remainder of his sentence. Right?

Sami: Sounds good to me. You know, I can handle that.

EJ: I know a guy who could--

Sami: Well, I mean I--

EJ: But I mean, if you want-- it--I mean, it's--

Sami: No, I think your people are probably better at that than--and if you did, I would-- I would be ever so grateful.

EJ: Really? Just, um, exactly how grateful would...you...be?

Sami: I think it'd be easier if I showed you.

Chloe: Thank you. Daniel and I had Parker christened here at St. Luke's.

Eric: You did?

Chloe: Mm-hmm. I was always hoping that we'd attend services here as a family.

[Drawer slams]

Chloe: But things fell apart for us pretty quickly.

Eric: Yeah, I heard. I'm really sorry about that.

Chloe: Thank you. But I did get the miracle that I was praying for. It turned out that Daniel really was Parker's father, so...we're back.

[Papers pounding]

Chloe: That made me want to return to the fold. And I'm hoping that I can get Daniel to come with us.

[Papers slam]

Chloe: I'm thinking it'll be really good for Parker.

Eric: Well, I just want you to know our door is always open to you and your son.

Chloe: Thank you. Oh, also I was wondering if there was an opening on the music committee?

Nicole: [Coughs]

Chloe: I just want to volunteer my time and show my gratitude for all that God has given me.

Eric: Well, let me talk to somebody from the committee and I'll get back to you. But I really need to get going.

Chloe: Uh, great, you know what, can I walk you out?

Eric: Sure. After you.

Nicole: Such a bitch! [Grunts] [Sighs] Ugh.

Chloe: Um, FYI. There's a typo here. It's supposed to say, "Returning to the fold: six ways to reunite with The Church's love." You put an "e" instead of an "I."

Nicole: What? Where?

Chloe: Right there. It says "sex," not "six." Somebody's not gettin' any.

Nicole: Oh, you know what? Ju—

Sonny: Hey! Glad you got my message. I wanted to bounce some ideas off you for St. Patrick's Day.

Will: Great. That's great.

Sonny: Mm-hmm.

Will: Is that okay?

Kate: Sure. No problem. I just want you to know that I would do anything to help you, no matter what it is.

Will: Thank you so much. I-I have no idea what you're talking about, but thank you. That means a lot.

Kate: Thanks, Sonny.

Sonny: Mm-hmm.

Kate: I love you, sweetheart.

Will: Oh, I love you. Okay.

Sonny: Thought you needed some rescuing.

Will: Did you say anything to her?

Sonny: No. Why, did she say I said something?

Will: Yeah. She hinted that you did. I'm--I'm sorry. I should have known better, obviously.

Sonny: Did--did you say something?

Will: No. But I can't--you were right. Nick is a--is a bigot. And I just gave my daughter away to an ignorant, homophobic bigot, and there is nothing that I can do about it.

Sami: Mm.

EJ: Plotting to kill Nick really turns you on, doesn't it?

Sami: [Chuckles] No. It's you. Being with a man who's powerful enough to get the job done.

EJ: Thanks, now I feel all dirty and used.

Sami: [Laughs] Right, you should feel used. I am. I'm totally using you for your money and your power. Not because you are handsome and charming and wonderful to me and father to my kids. No. None of that matters to shallow old me.

EJ: Yeah? Can I tell you something? Shallow old me thinks you have the most...beautiful... pair of...eyes.

Sami: [Laughs] That's not shallow, at all.

EJ: I adore everything about you.

Sami: Mm, that's definitely not shallow.

EJ: Okay.

Sami: What?

EJ: Mm-mm.

Sami: No, I--

EJ: Uh-uh.

Sami: What?

EJ: Uh-uh-uh, no. We have to get back to the matter at hand.

Sami: [Sighs] Right now?

EJ: No, yeah--no. Yes. Look, I've been giving this a little bit of thought, and the way I see it we only have one problem.

Sami: Okay, tell me.

EJ: If Nick goes back to prison, how long do you think it's gonna take him to work out who sent him there? He's a smart guy.

Sami: I don't care if he knows, right? So what?

EJ: Samantha, the first thing that he is going to do is tell the authorities everything that he knows about William's involvement in my shooting.

Nick: Did you have enough to eat?

Gabi: Plenty, thank you.

Nick: Okay. Do you want a refill?

Gabi: No, what I want is for you to sit down and talk to me.

Nick: Oh. [Chuckles] Okay. Uh, about what?

Gabi: Well, it's about why you got so upset when Hope asked you about your parole officer earlier.

Nick: Because that's in the past, and it doesn't matter anymore.

Gabi: The thing is, it's not in the past, Nick. I mean, you're still on parole, and you still have to talk to your parole officer.

Nick: Fine. I'll--I'll call him tomorrow after our wedding, okay? Is that--is that what you need to hear?

Gabi: Remember when, um--when you told me that you don't know who stabbed you in prison?

Nick: Yeah, because I don't. Why--why are we even talking about this again?

Gabi: Rafe read your prison file.

Nick: What?

Gabi: Okay, look, don't be mad at him, okay? Because he was just looking out for me. But the thing is that he read something along the lines of that the authorities thought you knew who stabbed you, but that you were trying to cover it up.

Nicole: You know, it is one thing to offer your services to hardened criminals, okay? Because some of them actually deserve your help. But Chloe, really? Taking her up on her offer to "give back"? That's just ridiculous. Open your eyes. She is just using you--and God, by the way--to score points with Daniel. It's just sick, and manipulative. Blasphemous! It's just plain wrong. Hello? Why aren't you saying anything?

Eric: I think I finally understand the depth of what's going on with you, Nicole. And I think it's about time we talk about it.

Hope: Hey.

Rafe: Well, hey there. And where have you been?

Hope: Well, I went from the hospital straight to the prison with Eric.

Rafe: Oh, yeah. Heard about that. You working with him on this outreach program?

Hope: Yeah, I'm gonna be the police liaison.

Rafe: Huh.

Hope: What? What are you thinking?

Rafe: About Nick. His time in prison, and how it affected him.

EJ: There are three things that we have to do to deal with Nick.

Sami: Okay, just three? Good. Let's hear it.

EJ: The first thing we need to do is find the evidence that shows that he shot me, and make that disappear. The second thing we have to do is find the confessions-- William's taped confessions--and destroy those. And--

Sami: And the third thing would then be to set Nick up so he violates his parole.

EJ: Okay, right. And then, and only then, is he able to go to prison, right? 'Cause the authorities are not going to listen to anything he says, and he'll be in prison for a bloody long time. Mwah.

Will: How could I have not seen Nick for who he really is?

Sonny: You were just trying to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Will: Yeah, how noble of me.

Sonny: Will, people like Nick, they learn to hide their feelings.

Will: Mm-hmm.

Sonny: Even from themselves. And they always have a rationale for their intolerance. They hide behind pity, or religion, or they think they're defending what they call a family. But really all it is is hatred and fear.

Will: I see that now. And Nick especially. I mean, the fear--what is he so afraid of, though?

Vargas: [Grunting] I'm gonna protect you for now, Nicky, even though your big mouth is the reason I'm still stuck in this hellhole. Don't you worry. Because the day is coming when you're gonna pay me back big time for the three years of my life you've cost me.

Nick: Why are you pushing me to talk about this?

Gabi: Because, Nick, because I want to take care of you, okay? I want to take care of you the way that you take care of me and the baby. And if something is bothering you, or hurting you, I want to know about it.

Eric: It really hurts me to see somebody I care about in so much pain. Nicole, I know. You were starting to tell me in the confessional.

Nicole: Oh, if you know, then why don't you see?

Eric: See what?

Nicole: What's right in front of you.

Eric: [Sighs]

Nicole: Oh, never mind.

Eric: Okay, hey, Nicole. Please, help me. What am I supposed to see? What is it? Just please tell me.

Nick: Not so long ago, I walked through those doors, right over there, and I met the most incredible woman. She totally changed my life, and everything before, it no longer mattered, because I was truly born again that day. And God knows, I didn't deserve it. But I was lucky enough to have her fall in love with me, just as I was falling in love with her. And now the two of us are gonna raise a child. We're gonna be a family. We're gonna build a new life together.

Sami: So, you know what? I can take care of the police evidence locker. I can get in...

EJ: Mm-hmm.

Sami: I have someone who will help me, you know, get rid of that evidence.

EJ: Okay.

Sami: And it's not Rafe, of course. Not like he would risk his badge for anyone but his sister.

EJ: Okay, so that takes care of the first problem, right? Then we have to get a hold of those audio recordings. Now, they're probably on Nick's computer. That shouldn't be too hard to find, and then we can just erase them.

Sami: Yeah. And we have time to get this done. I mean, Gabi's not due for another month.

Gabi: Oh. [Sighs]

Sami: So we have time to get Will back into his baby's life, and Nick out of everyone else's.

EJ: Okay. Sounds like we have a plan?

Sami: Mm-hmm.

EJ: Good. Whoa.

Nick: [Chuckles] Do you like it? I've never picked out baby clothes before, so.

Gabi: Are you kidding me? I-I love it. It's beautiful, and--and I love you so much.

Nick: Do you--do you think she--she's gonna like it?

[Laughter]

Gabi: Are you kidding me? She's gonna love it. Arianna Grace is the only person in the world luckier than I am.

Nick: Everything is gonna work out for us, Gabi. From now on. [Sighs]
