Brady: I can't. I can't marry you. It's not because of Dad and Marlena. It's not later, once things have calmed down, no. None of those things are the reasons, okay? It's not gonna change. I can't. I can't ever marry you.
Gabi: [Laughs]
Nick: Hey.
Gabi: Hi.
Nick: What's up?
Gabi: Um, I'm sor-- I'm sorry, this is just kind of funny.
Nick: Funny? What do you mean? What's funny? Is there something funny? Am I missing something?
Gabi: No, it's just-- it's--it's so sweet and so thoughtful and-- and... muy chulo.
Nick: Muy--muy what?
Gabi: Muy this.
EJ: Happy Valentine's Day.
Caroline: Wha-- EJ. Casanova. Well, whatever it is you want, the answer is no.
EJ: Fine. I will place this in Samantha's bouquet.
Caroline: Oh.
EJ: [Chuckles]
Caroline: Well, when you talk to Samantha, would you please tell her to give her grandmother a call?
EJ: Oh, actually, that won't be necessary. I'm meeting her here for lunch.
Caroline: Oh, good.
EJ: Good, huh?
Caroline: I can keep an eye on you.
EJ: Ah.
Florist: Caroline Brady?
Caroline: Yes? Oh, no, no. That's a mistake.
Florist: It's no mistake.
EJ: Caroline, looks to me like somebody is keeping their eye on you.
Maggie: Happy Valentine's Day, darling. Oh, I know how you feel about greeting card holidays, but I couldn't ignore this one.
Victor: Thanks, sweetie. You make every day seem like Valentine's Day to me.
Maggie: Do I? Thank you.
Victor: Yes, and now I sound like a greeting card.
[Laughter]
Maggie: No, you don't. Never. [Gasps] Victor, I didn't-- I didn't expect--
Victor: Just open it.
Maggie: Okay. I like gifts. [Gasps] Oh, my goodness. Oh, my goodness. Oh! Oh. My family tree. How did you do all this?
Victor: Oh, I had a hand from Melissa. And it's all up to date.
Maggie: Oh! Oh, Victor, it's the most perfect gift.
Victor: And now, I hope you're hungry, because I made luncheon reservations for us.
Maggie: Oh, you're gonna have to cancel it.
Victor: Why?
Maggie: Because I-I'm not going.
Sonny: Hey, Chad. It's slow. Why don't you go home early tonight?
Chad: And do what? It's not like I have plans.
Sonny: Me neither.
Chad: Ah, are you sure about that?
Sami: Will. What--
Will: Hey, look at you.
Sami: Um, yeah. Oh, well, you know, I'm meeting EJ for lunch.
Will: Oh, right. Oh, I forgot today was Valentine's Day. I guess that means you guys are getting pretty serious.
Sami: Uh, well... actually, um... I think he's gonna propose.
Kristen: You're very pale. Are you sick?
Brady: Kristen--
Kristen: No, come on, you're not sick, are you? I mean, are you? Is that why you can't marry me? You want to spare me the pain of losing you?
Will: EJ is, uh, going to propose to you? Why?
Sami: Why?
Will: Yeah.
Sami: What kind of question is that?
Will: I think it's a good one. Wasn't it, like, two weeks ago that we kind of thought you were going to walk down the aisle with Rafe, or--
Sami: Well, that's definitely not gonna happen, right? I mean, I know it seems sudden, but the truth is EJ and I have been sort of, you know, doing this dance for a long time. We have two kids together. And this time, it just seems right.
Will: Wha--okay. So he said that he's going to propose to you?
Sami: Well, no. Not exactly. I just happened to, um, find the ring in his jacket pocket.
Will: And why is it not on your finger?
Sami: That's a good question. I was sort of wondering the same thing. I was agonizing about it last night, wondering when he was gonna ask, and then I realized, maybe he was waiting for today. 'Cause it's Valentine's Day, right?
Will: Oh, yeah.
Sami: Yeah. So I'm-- speaking of which, I should probably go meet him, so that he can--
Will: Okay. Wait, okay. Are you sure you want to-- you want to run?
Sami: Yes. I want to do this. I want to make sure that I am not late. So we have a lot to talk about, but I love you. Mwah!
Will: I love you too.
Sami: Oh! [Laughs] Sorry.
Will: Well, good luck. God.
Nick: Happy Valentine's Day.
Gabi: Thank you for making today so special. We probably won't be able to do this next year. We'll have the baby, and--
Nick: Find a way.
Gabi: I just want to stay here forever.
Nick: It's gonna be okay. Baby, look at me. I'm gonna take care of you and our baby girl. Forever.
Gabi: I know you will.
EJ: Looks like I've been outdone.
Caroline: [Laughs] Really? Ah, yes, of course. Yes, yes, yes. By whom?
EJ: You have a secret admirer.
Caroline: Oh, come on, EJ. Would you please just say what you really want?
EJ: Why don't you have a look and see who they're from? Thank you. Well?
Caroline: I don't believe it.
Victor: You don't want to have lunch with me?
Maggie: Well, couldn't we have dinner instead?
Victor: You have plans? Why didn't you just say so?
Maggie: No, I-I don't. Considering what a difficult year this has been and... we never know what the future holds... maybe you'd like to have lunch today at the Brady Pub.
Sami: Hi, Grandma.
Caroline: Oh, hi.
Sami: EJ.
Caroline: Hi, honey.
EJ: My goodness, you look absolutely stunning.
Sami: Thank you. Am I a bit overdressed for the pub?
EJ: No, look. No, not at all. Not at all.
Sami: Grandma, those flowers are beautiful. Where did they come from?
Woman: Mrs. Brady?
Caroline: Yes?
Woman: Menu question for you.
Caroline: Oh, I-- excuse me.
EJ: Of course.
Sami: Grandma?
EJ: Did you see that?
Sami: What?
EJ: I think she just gave me the evil eye.
Sami: Oh, well, get used to it. I've seen worse.
EJ: Yes, I'm sure I will too.
Sami: You know, we didn't have to come here. If you would rather go to somewhere that's more neutral territory--
EJ: No, I want to be here. Look, your grandmother said she hadn't seen you in an incredibly long time, and it's very important to me that you don't feel that you have to choose between me and your family. You know? I know how they feel about me. I'm not flavor of the month with them. They--they're gonna dish out a lot, but that's okay, because I can take it. Because you, young lady, are worth it.
Sami: So are you.
EJ: Thank you. Allow me.
Sami: Thank you.
EJ: Please.
Sami: Oh. What is that?
EJ: Happy Valentine's Day.
Chad: I'll, uh, be in the back.
Brian: Hey. I was hoping to hear from you. I'm sorry if the other night I--
Sonny: No, you have nothing to be sorry for. You know, I'm just not ready--
Brian: I get it.
Sonny: Do you, though? I mean, you were right about me and Will. More right than I could ever imagine. But I still--
Brian: Love him.
Sonny: You ever been in love, Brian?
Brian: Thought I was. But I was wrong.
Sonny: Why do you say that?
Brian: 'Cause now I think I understand what the real deal looks like.
Will: Uh... "W.H., I love you. S.K." Oh, my God. Does he-- does he want to get back together?
Brady: No, I'm not sick.
Kristen: Why are you looking like this?
Brady: It's nothing like that.
Kristen: You're very grim.
Brady: Look, I love the way you make me feel. You make me very happy. And I love the way things are right now.
Kristen: Really? Okay, wait, the way things are is that people in this town think that we're just a passing fling. And they think that if they trash me enough to you, that you're just gonna end up dumping me. And this is what I'm saying about getting married. I-I just think people would respect us more.
Brady: Kristen, even--even if a miracle happened and my dad and Marlena came around, I'd be worried about hurting you, okay?
Kristen: What are you talking about?
Brady: My past, I'm talking about my past. My past scares the hell out of me.
Kristen: What about my past? I mean, we both have so much baggage on the road that brought us here, you know? But it--it doesn't mean we have to take it with us into our future.
Brady: It's not about bag-- it's not about baggage. It's not about divorces, it's not about exes, it's not about drugs. It's none of that, Kristen.
Kristen: What's going on?
Brady: It's much worse than that.
Victor: Maggie, why would you suggest that, uh--
Maggie: The florist called earlier with a question about the arrangement you were sending Caroline.
Victor: Oh. I hope I haven't upset you.
Maggie: No. You haven't. Caroline is the mother of one of your sons. She needs her family and friends around her more than ever. And, Victor, I have to say... that's exactly the gesture that made me fall in love with you.
Victor: Thank you for understanding.
Maggie: Of course, I understand. And while I'm--I'm sure the flowers will brighten up her day, I know the one thing that would mean even more is the gift of your companionship. Oh, Victor, we're so lucky.
Victor: I'm the lucky one.
Will: Our greatest hits.
Gabi: That's a pretty bow. Hi.
Will: Hi, sorry, yeah.
Gabi: That's a beautiful box.
Will: Thanks. It's a pretty nice gift too.
Gabi: Is--is that from, uh--
Will: Sonny, yeah.
Gabi: Are--are you guys back togeth--
Will: I-I don't know. I mean, I don't know. This is the last thing I expected to find in my mailbox. I mean, I-I think he might be giving me another chance. So what's up, what's up?
Gabi: Nothing. That's great. It's what you want, right?
Will: Yeah. Hell, yeah.
Gabi: You know, when we found out that I was carrying your baby, it--it felt like our lives were just going to fall apart. Me and Nick, you and Sonny-- but, I mean, look at us now. You know, maybe--maybe we could have a happily ever after.
Sonny: You know, love isn't something that you can just make happen.
Brian: Yeah. Maybe "like" is a better place to start? You know I like you, Sonny. I would love to get to know you better. But if you don't feel the same way--
Sonny: You think that we should just be friends, and--
Will: Yeah, I think so.
Sonny: Yeah.
Will: I think that's the best way, you know? My life's going to be crazy with the baby.
Sonny: No. I'd like to get to know you better too.
Sami: I never expected something like this. I'm so surprised.
EJ: Open it.
Sami: I will, I will. I'm just-- I just--I just want to say that, you know, I know a couple weeks ago, my life was so different, but now it's Valentine's Day, and I'm here with you, and we're gonna be--
EJ: What's the matter? Do you not like it?
Kristen: Hey.
Brady: [Sighs]
Kristen: What could possibly be so bad?
Brady: I'm no good for you.
Kristen: What are you talking about?
Brady: You know I was engaged twice after Chloe.
Kristen: Yeah.
Brady: A woman by the name of Arianna. She died in an accident, an accident that I-- well, I thought I could have prevented. And then there was Madison, on our wedding day, Kristen.
Kristen: Yeah, I know about those things, but-- I mean, you can't possibly blame yourself.
Brady: I don't blame myself, but I sure as hell think I could have done things differently.
Kristen: So what are you saying? You think that if we got engaged, something bad would happen to me? What are you, bad luck Brady?
Brady: No, no, but you said--
Kristen: Oh, come on.
Brady: You said it, not me.
Kristen: Come on. That's silly.
Brady: Kristen, it's--it's not silly to me, and I'll tell you why. 'Cause every time I push things a little too fast and a little too hard, they don't work out. Everything goes straight to hell. I don't want that to happen with us. I really like what we have. And I don't want anything to change that.
Kristen: But, Brady--
Brady: I'm falling in love with you. And I want to protect you and what we have. That's how I feel.
Kristen: Brady, that's really sweet of you--
[Cell phone rings]
Brady: I'm sorry, sorry. It's, uh, it's work. It's an emergency. I gotta go. So we can, uh-- we can talk about this later, but I can't change my mind about this.
Kristen: Well, I can change your mind.
Brian: All right, let's go.
Chad: Where's, uh, Brian headed off to?
Sonny: Oh, he'll be back in an hour. Not a date, we're just hanging out, you know?
Chad: Still, I'm--I'm sorry about what happened to you and Will. But just so you know, there are, uh, plenty of other guys out there.
Sonny: Well, I'm not looking for just another guy.
Chad: I know you're not. That's why I'm glad it's Brian. All right?
Sonny: Me too. Your shift's over.
Chad: I know.
Sonny: Why don't you get on out of here?
Chad: I'm out of here. I'm outtie. Have a good time, man.
Sonny: Thank you.
Gabi: Are you kidding me? Sonny must have dropped some serious cash for all these songs.
Will: No, he just shared his playlist.
Gabi: Whoa, hold on. Asteroid Crush? Wait, I thought you were the only person on the planet that ever listened to this band.
Will: I know, so did I. Okay, but please, can you not tell anybody about this, please?
Gabi: Why?
Will: Because I haven't talked to Sonny yet, and I don't even-- you know, I want to make sure. I gotta go home, and I gotta get--get cleaned up, and I gotta get him a gift.
Gabi: Well, Sonny's not gonna want you to just give him a gift just because.
Will: I know. I want to, though, so-- okay, wish me luck.
Gabi: Good luck.
Will: Okay.
Gabi: [Sighs] Oh, baby girl. I want your daddy to be happy. But more importantly, I want us to be happy. I can't lose you. I won't.
Sami: Um, no, I do. Of course, I do. They're beautiful. I'm just-- I'm just stunned.
EJ: I just wanted to find something as beautiful and exquisite as you. Samantha, I know that we've been down this road many, many times before, but this time is going to be different. And I just want to savor every single moment as if it's the last time, which, by the way, I bloody hope it is.
Sami: I remember the first time you gave me earrings. They were pearls in an oyster shell. I was so--
EJ: Smitten?
Sami: Smitten is the perfect word. EJ, you deserve a huge "I told you so," because you have been right about us from the beginning.
EJ: Oh, Samantha, I think we both always knew. And whether we loved one another or hated one another, we were never indifferent. These last few months, I-I've come to realize that I cannot imagine my life without you. I love you. I want to make love to you all afternoon.
Sami: Then why don't you?
EJ: Um, because we have a company to run, unfortunately.
Sami: Do we have to?
EJ: Yes, we do. I am gonna talk to Perry, see if I can rustle us up a little bit of food.
Chad: Glad you were free for lunch.
Kristen: Me too. But it's Valentine's Day. What are you doing here with your big sister?
Chad: Well, it's better than being alone.
Kristen: [Laughs]
Chad: I-I'm sorry, I didn't-- I didn't mean that.
Kristen: It's okay. I know what you meant. I get it. I'm a pretty good listener. Do you want to talk about it?
Chad: No, no, no. Please, I don't-- I don't want to talk about it.
Kristen: Oh, come on. I mean it. I want to know. What?
Chad: Okay. Um, well, since Melanie left, I-I'm having a hard time accepting that she's never coming back, so--
Kristen: I'm sorry, Chad.
Chad: Me too. And, um, I started hanging out with Abigail. I thought maybe that, uh, there'd be another chance for us, but, uh--
Kristen: But what?
Chad: Screwed that up too. And now, she, uh, she won't even talk to me.
Kristen: Well, you know, I don't think you should blame yourself entirely for that, because when it comes to Horton and DiMera romances, you know, they kind of always end up as a train wreck. I don't know why, but I think it could be a law of nature, is what I'm thinking.
Chad: Yeah, yeah, you're probably right. Yeah. You know, I used to-- I used to think that, uh, it was unfair for people to judge me because of my last name, you know? But, uh, they're kind of justified. 'Cause there I was, going all DiMera at the wedding, getting revenge on Gabi.
Kristen: Chad, I kind of warned you about that.
Chad: Yeah, you did.
Kristen: You know what I didn't warn you about, though? Is that even the best revenge sometimes comes with a price tag, you know? Might lose a little piece of yourself.
Chad: So you've been there too.
Kristen: Have I ever.
Caroline: Victor. Oh, I don't know how to thank you for the flowers. They're my favorite, you know?
Victor: Yes, I know. I'm glad you like them.
Caroline: Well, where's Maggie?
Victor: Oh, she had plans for lunch, so I thought I'd stop by here and have a bite. Any chance you could join me?
Caroline: Oh, we're really short for help today.
Nick: Not anymore. I can help. Hey, Uncle Victor.
Caroline: But you--babe, you don't work here anymore.
Nick: Well, maybe not, but I think a free shift is the least I owe you. I can bus a few tables, unless you're afraid I'm gonna break more dishes.
Caroline: No, no. Well, all right. Thank you. Thank you for the gracious offer.
Nick: Absolutely.
Victor: Thank you, Nick.
Nick: What can I get you guys?
Caroline: A very good blue plate special.
Victor: I'll have that.
Nick: All right. Coming right up.
Caroline: Your wife doesn't mind that you're spending Valentine's Day with your former lover?
Victor: Maggie knows how important you are to me, and always will be.
Brady: Ah, red--red roses are such a cliché. Can we mix a few white roses in with that? That'd be great. Perfect. All right, thank you.
Maggie: Oh, hi, Brady.
Brady: Hi, hi, Maggie.
Maggie: What is it? Oh. Wait a minute, don't tell me. What's Kristen done now?
Chad: Since you've been through this before, please tell me, what do I do now?
Kristen: Well, I know for sure that you can't put the genie back in the bottle. Sorry.
Chad: Well, I know that you paid a huge price after whatever happened with you and John. But, uh, you're back in Salem, a changed woman. Everything's great, right?
Kristen: Right. You know what? I am so sorry. I forgot--I forgot I had to do something. I'm gonna have to go.
Chad: Did I--did I say something to upset you?
Kristen: No, no, Chad. Not at all. Honestly, I just-- it totally slipped my mind.
Chad: Okay.
Kristen: I'm sorry.
Chad: No, it's fine. It's good, it's just-- you know, when I see you with Brady, I just, um-- it makes me feel better to know that-- that there's a possibility of me having a happy ending someday. So--
Kristen: It's not a happy ending. It's just beginning. Okay. Bye.
Will: Sonny?
Sonny: I've missed you.
Will: Not as much as I've missed you.
Sonny: You want to bet?
Gabi: Nick, I'm so glad you're still here.
Nick: Is everything okay?
Gabi: Um, no, it's not.
Will: "Sonny, I'm not sure I'll find the words when I see you, and I want to make sure I get this right. I never thought I'd get another chance with the only guy that I have ever loved. So thank you for being patient and generous, and for loving me as much as I love you. And most of all, thank you for giving me a second chance. Love, Will." Okay.
Brady: Kristen hasn't done anything. Why does everybody think that that's the first thing that-- the truth is, Maggie, that I'm not good enough for her. That's the truth.
Maggie: Brady, how can you say that?
Brady: Because she has turned her life around completely. I admire that. It wasn't easy for her. It was a struggle. But she did it.
Maggie: Brady, I know that's how you see it, but--
Brady: No, no. That's not how I see it, Maggie. That's how it is. She lost her parents. She lost my dad, at one point. All her dreams, everything she ever wanted, came crashing down. And the problem is, I can never make those dreams come true for her. You know?
Maggie: Brady, that's not your problem. It's not your responsibility. All right, Brady, look. I just want you to know that I'm there for you, no matter what.
Brady: I don't need a sponsor, Maggie.
Maggie: No. You need a friend.
Brady: Yeah, well, I feel like the only friend that I really have anymore is Kristen.
Kristen: Oh. "Thank you for showing me that I could be happy again. You might not know it, but you saved my life. I love you so much. Brady." Brady, that's so trite. But I know you mean it from your heart. The sins of the father shall be visited on the generations. I don't know anymore. I don't know anymore if it's the right thing to do.
Sami: "Dear Samantha, your grandmother once told me true love can change anyone, and Caroline was right. It has. I love you more than I have ever loved another woman. The proof is in our children and in my heart. EJ." Oh. He set me up. Yeahhhh!
Caroline: You know, Victor, I'm really a fortunate woman. I have children and grandchildren, great-grandchildren. I have material comforts. Most of all... I have beautiful memories.
Victor: I feel exactly the same way.
[Phone ringing]
Kristen: Hi, Brady. Thank you so much for the flowers. They're so beautiful.
Brady: Kristen, I need to see you. It's important.
Kristen: Actually, I need to see you too.
Gabi: Okay, so, you were right. Will and Sonny are together. And if Sonny tells Will what I did to Melanie--
Nick: I don't want you to worry about that.
Gabi: How can I not worry about it? I mean, if Will sues for custody, which I really don't think that he would do that-- I mean, with your track record and my track record, he could win, Nick.
Nick: It won't happen. Neither of those guys is going anywhere near our baby.
Will: "2012, get Will Horton to fall in love with me." Did you just write this, like, five minutes ago?
Sonny: No, I wrote it last year.
Will: Are you serious?
Sonny: This is what I wanted all year.
EJ: So, what do you think of my proposal?
