Abigail: Hi. How's your grandma?

Will: Oh, she is on her meds, and she is bossing around the cook, like usual, so...

Abigail: Did she figure out that you were trying to check up on her?

Will: Yeah, totally. But she didn't really care, 'cause I guess she's just happy to be back.

Abigail: You are lucky to have her in your life. I envy you.

Will: Yes, I am very lucky.

Abigail: I wanted to get together with you because, um, Gabi asked me to be her maid of honor.

Will: Really? You know I'm the best man, right?

Abigail: Yeah.

Will: I guess Nick didn't have anybody else to ask, because we are not exactly tight.

Abigail: I need to ask you something. Um... do you think it's a little weird that Gabi and Nick are together and that they're getting married now because Gabi's pregnant?

Sister Margaret: Father Eric will be with you in a few minutes.

Gabi: Thank you, sister. Father Eric? I thought Rafe said it was father Tobias.

Nick: Well, it's not a big deal, is it?

Gabi: No, I mean, Rafe didn't say it would be a new priest. It's just--do you think he knows I'm pregnant?

Eric: [Clears throat]

Justin: So why aren't we meeting at the coffee house so you can at least make a buck off the deal?

Sonny: Because I don't want anyone I know to walk in on us.

Justin: Okay.

Sonny: I want to talk to you about Gabi Hernandez.

Kristen: Chai latte, nonfat milk--sooner, not later.

Chad: Oh. Are you always this charming first thing in the morning?

Kristen: Only to my baby, baby brother. He doesn't write. You never call me.

Chad: Well, you should talk. I haven't even seen you.

Kristen: You're right. You got me there. Sorry about that. I haven't stopped by lately 'cause I've been a little busy.

Brady: Okay. "I hope this makes your wrist feel better." "And... I hope our night together was as memorable for you... as it was for me. Brady."

[Knock at door]

Marlena: Come in.

[Door opens]

John: Hey.

Marlena: Hi. Wow. What are you doing here?

John: Well, you left the house so early this morning, I kind of figured that whatever was bothering you... still is.

Marlena: You're right. I haven't been... completely honest with you.

Victor: Well, that looks like a box from squires jewelers.

Brady: It's nothing important--no big deal.

Victor: Yeah, that's why you jammed it in your pocket the minute you heard my voice, because it's so inconsequential.

Brady: Let me put it another way. It's none of your business.

Victor: Oh.

Chad: So what's been keeping you so busy?

Kristen: Well, I had to hand over the reins of countess w to eej.

Chad: Ah. Like I say, what's been keeping you so busy?

Kristen: It wasn't just a paper transition.

Chad: No?

Kristen: No. I had to spend a lot of time with him, which was great, 'cause I got to know him better. But now I want to get to know you better.

Chad: Oh, I see. So Stefano didn't give you the dossier he keeps on me?

Kristen: Ouch! Why are you being so difficult?

Chad: Look, if you want to get to know me, here's the bottom line-- I am not in a great place these days.

Kristen: I know... because your fiancée broke things off?

Chad: That's, uh-- that's one of the reasons, yeah.

Kristen: Want to talk about it? I'm on your side.

Chad: There aren't sides to me--I'm the problem.

Kristen: An imperfect person in the DiMera family-- shocking. What'd you do?

Chad: I told somebody something I shouldn't have.

Kristen: So are you upset because you broke a trust... or because you're afraid it's gonna come back and bite you?

Justin: Why do you need to talk to me about Gabi?

Sonny: Because I think she's using will somehow.

Justin: That's it? That's what you want to talk about?

Sonny: Well, Gabi's pregnant. She and Nick Fallon are getting married.

Justin: Really?

Sonny: Really.

Justin: And what does that have to do with her using will?

Sonny: [Sighs] I love will, and I know him. And I think he's protecting her somehow.

Justin: From what?

Sonny: [Sighs] Chad told me something about her. He said that she was behind Melanie's kidnapping.

John: You know, if you haven't been completely honest about something, that something must be Kristen.

Marlena: Boy... I can't get a thing past you, can I?

John: So what's going on? I thought you said that was all over with, that you wanted to move on.

Marlena: No, I know. And I meant that. I-I meant that. It's just that circumstances have conspired against me here.

John: What does that mean?

Marlena: Something has happened that I just can't ignore.

John: Doc, will you just stop with all the "something" and just tell me what it is? Jamie and matt have their Christmas list --

Chad: So this, um, guy that I talked to... I'm pretty sure he'll keep quiet.

Kristen: Okay, so what's your problem?

Chad: The fact that I shot off my big mouth in the first place.

Kristen: Were you using what you know as a weapon? You were. You know, information is a powerful thing... especially when you can use it to your own advantage.

Chad: I don't know what I was trying to get out of what I did... except maybe a feeling... one that didn't last very long.

Kristen: When it comes to information... you can tailor it to get the results you want. But you have to be very clear on what it is you want.

Chad: Are you saying you know exactly what you want?

Kristen: No. I'm still trying to navigate through all of that. But the good thing is I'm a really quick study.

Victor: Well, let's see... you're buying jewelry, you're telling me to butt out, and in the last couple of days, I think I've heard you whistling...

Brady: I do not whistle.

Victor: Which leads me to deduce that you've met someone.

Brady: You can deduce whatever you want.

Victor: And I'm delighted.

Brady: Who are you? Who are you? What have you done with my grandfather? Where is he?

Victor: I certainly wish that I knew the lady's name so I could have her properly vetted.

Brady: What lady?

Victor: Nevertheless, I'm delighted that she's brought you back among the living. Life goes on.

Brady: Yeah, whether you want it to or not sometimes.

Victor: Brady, I know that sometimes you wish that you had died in that explosion with Madison, but I'm very glad you didn't. And I hope this woman makes you very glad you didn't. And that's all I'm going to say on the matter.

Brady: Thank you.

Victor: Why don't we go over to Sonny's and get some of that overpriced coffee of his? I haven't thrown him any cash lately.

Brady: You want to go out for coffee?

Victor: Yeah, we'll talk business on the way over. It'll be a write-off.

[Cell phone ringing]

Brady: All right.

Victor: Ah, the lawyers-- I have to take this. Irving, who's suing us today? What do you mean I never signed the contract? You never sent me the contract. Brady?

Brady: Yeah?

Victor: Irving says he sent over the contracts on the wilhoit deal. Did you see 'em?

Brady: No, I haven't seen 'em. I'll be there in a second.

Victor: I need you right now. Come in here. Tell Irving he's an idiot.

Brady: I-I know he's an idiot--hold on.

Victor: Come on, come on.

Brady: Okay.

Sonny: If Chad's right and Gabi's behind Melanie's kidnapping and that's the problem that she's talking to will about, can he get into any legal trouble for not turning her in? Like--like a what... accessory after the fact?

Justin: Sonny, I cannot talk about that situation.

Sonny: At all?

Justin: Right.

Sonny: You only say that when you're someone's lawyer.

Justin: Sorry, Sonny. I can't say anything more.

Sonny: It's true, isn't it? Gabi did it, and you're her lawyer.

Will: Gabi being pregnant was probably more of a surprise to me than anyone.

Abigail: [Sighs] I mean, she and Nick haven't even been together all that long. I hope everything works out for them.

Will: Yeah, me too.

Abigail: Is everything else okay? Are you and Sonny all right?

Will: Yeah. Why?

Abigail: I don't know. You just seem a little down.

Will: Oh, no. Just worried about Gabi, you know? Sonny and I are, um... I don't know... [Chuckles] Awesome, I'd say.

Abigail: Oh. You should see your face when you talk about Sonny. It is the exact same way that Gabi looks when she talks about Nick. Are you in love?

Eric: So your brother tells me you want to get married as soon as possible.

Gabi: Uh, yes. And now you know why.

Eric: Well, how long have you two been together?

Nick: Uh, not--not that long.

Gabi: We met working at the Brady pub... um, right after Nick came back to Salem.

Eric: I didn't know you knew my grandma.

Nick: Caroline? She's your--she's your grandma?

Eric: Yeah. My last name is Brady.

Gabi: Are--are you related to will?

Eric: Yeah. He's my nephew. That's not gonna be a problem, is it?

Justin: I am not representing Gabi--I can tell you that. And I can also tell you that it is in your best interest to let this go. Do not talk to will about it or anyone else.

Sonny: Are you kidding me?

Justin: What happened between Chad and Nick and Gabi is nobody's business.

Sonny: What Gabi did is a crime.

Justin: The law says she is innocent until proven guilty.

Sonny: Well, I don't care what the law says.

Justin: Are you listening to me, Sonny? You cannot talk to anyone about this.

Sonny: Okay. I'm sorry I put you in a tough position. I'm just really worried about will.

Justin: I understand. Will is not going to get in any kind of trouble. I have to get to a meeting. You heard what I said, right?

Sonny: Right.

Justin: Good. Thanks for the coffee.

Will: I love Sonny. And he is the best thing that has ever happened to me.

Abigail: Does he know that you feel this way?

Will: Yeah.

Abigail: And does he feel the same way about you?

Will: Yeah.

Abigail: Oh, will... wow. Well, once again, I envy you.

Will: Oh, you just haven't found a guy that deserves you yet.

Abigail: Oh, yeah, that's it. Well, I don't seem to be very good at the whole girlfriend thing.

Will: That's not true. I'm serious. Just, I don't know, give it time. You're not ancient. You're not 40.

Abigail: [Laughs]

Will: So, yeah, I'm sure the right guy's gonna find you.

Abigail: Like Sonny found you?

Will: Mm.

Abigail: Yeah. Yeah, maybe.

[Cell phone ringing]

Will: Excuse me. Oh, speaking of, uh, it's Sonny.

Abigail: Okay. Well, you take that. I will see you later.

Will: Okay.

Abigail: I love you.

Will: Love you. Hi.

Sonny: Where are you?

Will: I'm at the pub.

Sonny: All right, wait for me there. I need to talk to you.

Will: Okay. Y-you sound upset.

Sonny: That's because I am upset.

Will: What's this about?

Sonny: Gabi.

Gabi: Will's one of my best friends.

Nick: Uh, and my best man.

Eric: Small world.

Gabi: I didn't realize that father Eric and uncle Eric are the...

Both: Same person.

Gabi: Yeah, that's, um-- are you Sami's brother?

Eric: We're actually twins.

Gabi: Oh, no kidding.

Eric: Are you okay with me still marrying you?

Nick: Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Abso--absolutely.

Eric: Great. Well, there are a few other things that we need to confirm before we can proceed.

Nick: Well, are you saying that we might not be able to get married in this church?

Kristen: It's a little difficult to move on with your life when you're being choked by anger.

Chad: I found that out.

Kristen: Yeah. And I found out the hard way that revenge can be tricky. It can come back at you.

Chad: So what do I do? I just--just let this go?

Kristen: No, I didn't say that. Have you ever heard of the saying that "revenge is a dish best served cold"?

Chad: I have, but I had no idea what it meant.

Kristen: Okay. It means you can't be emotional. You can't be bloodthirsty. You got to step back. You got to look at the situation. And then you put things in motion that make sure that what you want to have happen... happens.

John: Sit down. Y-yeah. Now... talk to me.

Marlena: We have survived so much... I mean, things that married couples normally wouldn't survive, and we survived because we are together. We are such a team.

John: Mm-hmm.

Marlena: This whole thing with Kristen is making me feel very much alone.

John: But you're not alone.

Marlena: No, I-I-I-- I understand. Not if I handle it the way that you do, which is take her at face value. I've tried that. It doesn't work for me.

John: Do you think Kristen is still after me?

Marlena: No, no. No, not exactly.

John: All right, then what's the damn problem?

Eric: No, you can get married in the church.

Nick: Oh. Thank you. Great.

Eric: Good. Well, there are gonna be some hoops you're gonna have to jump through first, like some pre-cana counseling.

Nick: Cana, like the marriage at cana?

Eric: Exactly. You know, everyone has to go through them before they can get married in the catholic church.

Gabi: Okay, yeah. Just tell us when and where, and we'll be there.

Eric: Well, I kind of already set up some appointments for you, so just let me know if that can work for you.

Nick: Okay.

[Cell phone ringing]

Gabi: We can do this, right?

Nick: Yeah. Sure, sure.

Gabi: Yeah, this is great.

Eric: Well, knowing my grandma, she's gonna go out of her way to make sure you can make it here. So I'll see you then. I'm sorry--I got to take this right now, but it was very nice meeting you both.

Gabi: Thank you for everything.

Nick: Great to meet you, father.

Eric: Very much.

Nick: Thank you.

Gabi: [Sighs] Still want to get married in the church?

Nick: Yeah, absolutely. I mean, I know this is important to you.

Gabi: Well, my mom would kill me if I didn't get married in the church. I mean, she wants to do the mass and the whole bit and everything.

Nick: I know. I know. We're doing the right thing... for us and for our baby.

Gabi: I love it when you say "our baby."

Nick: Well, I love you. Let's get going.

Gabi: Okay.

Chad: I think I get what you're saying.

Kristen: Well, revenge is only truly satisfying when the object of your revenge can't turn it back on you.

Chad: Whoa. Now, that's cold.

Kristen: Just how it has to be. But, you know, if you take it slowly and you play it carefully... you never know what might just fall right into your lap.

Victor: That fruitcake still in town? You worried about what she's got in mind for your dad?

Brady: Nope.

Victor: Really? Last time we talked, you said she was giving him hell.

Brady: Well, it turns out she's not giving him hell... or anything else.

Marlena: I can't talk to you if you put me on the defensive.

John: Ah, well, I'm sorry. But, you know, I try to reassure you, and that doesn't work.

Marlena: This isn't what you think it is.

[Cell phone ringing]

John: One second. Mindy, what's up? They're on strike? No, you're kidding me. I thought that whole contract issue was resolved. Yeah, yeah, we don't need this. Um, I-I'm not far away. I'll be in the office in a few minutes. Yeah. Employees at our largest manufacturer just went on strike.

Marlena: I'm so sorry.

John: Yeah, not half as sorry as I am. I got to go.

Marlena: Yeah, that's okay. This--this can wait.

John: I love you.

Marlena: Mm-hmm. I love you, honey. [Sighing] Why didn't I tell him? Because I know that if I did... it would destroy his relationship with Brady. And it would destroy my relationship with Brady too. Well, you can either tell John, or you can continue the affair and keep it a secret.

Kristen: It kind of sounds like that's what you want.

Marlena: Actually, I don't give a damn.

Kristen: Of course you do... because as long as I continue my affair with Brady, that will keep me from sleeping with John.

Marlena: And, of course, there is that.

Sonny: Hey.

Will: Hi.

Sonny: Thanks for waiting for me.

Will: Well, what else was I supposed to do? You sounded really upset.

Sonny: I am upset.

Will: And it's about Gabi? It's okay. They're--I don't-- I think she left with Nick, so...

Sonny: Okay, well, uh... I have a problem with you being the best man at their wedding.

Will: So do I. But I can't really back out now.

Sonny: Why not?

Will: 'Cause I said that I would--you know, gave 'em my word.

Sonny: Yeah, but Nick--he can find someone else. You know, you just stand there, right? It's not a big deal.

Will: Why-- why are you so bothered by this?

Sonny: Because I don't trust Gabi. And I don't think you should either.

Kristen: So will you think about what I said?

Chad: Definitely.

Kristen: Okay. Will you also think about maybe spending a little time with EJ and me during the holidays?

Chad: Yeah, okay.

Kristen: Ah! Ooh, that's what I like to hear.

Chad: Mm. All right. I'll see you later.

Kristen: Okay.

Victor: I guess she left her tinfoil hat back at the hotel.

Brady: It's been a lot of years. Maybe you should let it go, huh?

Victor: Your father want to let it go?

Brady: Yes, he does.

Victor: You can't be serious.

Brady: When Kristen came back to town, I had the same reaction you're having. But I feel differently now.

Victor: That bump on the head you got from the mugger that was after her--did that scramble your brains?

Brady: I helped her out when she was in trouble, and she helped me out when I was knocked out. She's not after my dad. Even he realizes that now. And, uh, I think she's back in town because she realizes she made some mistakes in the past, and she wants to make it right now.

Victor: And you and John actually bought that? What does Marlena think about Kristen's sudden return to sanity?

Brady: Well, I can't worry about that. Listen, I don't see Sonny anywhere, so I'm gonna get going, actually.

Victor: See you back at the house.

Brady: All right.

[Door closes]

Victor: It's me. I've got to see you right away.

Gabi: Hey, guys.

Will: Hey.

Sonny: I have to go.

Nick: See you later, Sonny. What's up with him?

Gabi: I'll be right back. Hey, hey, Sonny, wait up. Hold on. Would you mind telling me what's going on with you?

Sonny: I don't feel like talking, Gabi.

Gabi: Hey... that's too bad, because I do.

[Christmas music playing]

Abigail: Hi.

Chad: Hi. Um... can I get you anything?

Abigail: No, thank you. I am looking for Sonny.

Chad: Oh, um, I don't know when he's coming in.

Abigail: Oh, bummer.

Chad: Oh.

Abigail: Well, it's not a big deal. I was just gonna tell him how happy I am for him and will.

Chad: Why? What happened?

Abigail: Nothing happened. They're in love.

Chad: Oh, right, right, yeah. Um, lucky them, right?

Abigail: Yeah.

Chad: Say, uh... do you ever hear from--from Melanie?

Abigail: Not real-- uh, not in a long time.

Chad: Yeah, I, uh--I never do. I don't know--it's... [Sniffs] Um...

Abigail: It's kind of like she blew through our lives, and now she's just--

Chad: Gone. And I think you might be the only other person that might get that. Do you want to go out sometime? I mean, nothing special, of course, but...

Abigail: Oh, well, when you put it like that, how could a girl resist?

[Both chuckle]

Chad: Well, you always knew how to make me laugh. Um... these days I don't--I don't laugh much. So it'd be good for me... and you.

Justin: I--uh, Chad...

Chad: Oh.

Justin: I need to talk to you. Sorry to interrupt.

Abigail: Oh, that's okay. Don't worry about it.

Chad: What's, uh-- what's going on?

Justin: I see you've turned into a real DiMera.

Kristen: [Gasps]

Brady: Hi.

Kristen: You can't be here like this without warning me.

Brady: Let me in, shut the door, and nobody will be the wiser, okay?

Kristen: I thought we agreed that we're not gonna let anybody know about this. Remember?

Brady: Oh. You know, if that's what you wanted, you shouldn't have given me that look at the coffee house earlier. That was a good look. You know the look you gave me. Maybe you can be there;

Justin: Come here. Now that your name is DiMera, you think you can do whatever you want?

Chad: I don't even know what you're talking about.

Justin: Don't even try to play me. You are in direct violation of the agreement that you signed.

Chad: There was no agreement. I was forced into signing it.

Justin: Yeah, by your own actions.

Chad: All right, look, I had to talk to somebody. Sonny--he's my business partner. He's one of my best friends. He's not gonna say anything to anyone.

Justin: He told me. So what--you want a police record? You want to do some time for deadly assault? Because that can be arranged.

Chad: Okay. I won't say anything to anyone else. I promise, okay?

Justin: I'd like to tell you that that fixes everything, but, unfortunately, it doesn't. Your fate now rests in Sonny's hands.

Sonny: What do you want to talk about, Gabi?

Gabi: Well, I thought we were friends. You said we were. And now all of a sudden, you look at me like I'm dirt or something? What happened, Sonny? Right. Chad talked to you, didn't he?

Will: So my uncle is-- my uncle Eric is the one who's gonna be marrying you and Gabi?

Nick: Well, we're not really sure yet. We got to do the pre-cana stuff first, but--but maybe.

Will: Okay. Great. This is a nightmare.

Nick: Will, it's gonna be okay.

Will: Yeah, for you it will be, 'cause you don't have to stand in front of my uncle and-- and the church and watch another man marry the woman who's carrying your child.

Marlena: Sorry. I should have called. I didn't know if you'd be in or not.

Eric: No, no, no. Don't you worry about it. I happen to be able to give very special dispensation. Hey... what's wrong?

Marlena: Oh, am I that transparent?

Eric: Yes, you are to me.

Marlena: Of course. I tried to call my psychiatrist, but she's out of town, and I really need someone to talk to.

Eric: This isn't about Kristen again, is it?

Victor: Brady tells me that Kristen's got you two believing that she's turned from lizzie Borden into Mary Poppins.

John: [Laughs] That's what I love about you, vic. You never overstate the case, do you?

Victor: Oh, come on, John, you know you can't believe a word that comes out of that wingbat's mouth.

John: Well, I kind of remember a time when you felt differently about her.

Victor: So do I, until she proved to me that she was a chip off the old block.

John: Yeah, Vic, I hear what you're saying. But really, I'm just gonna handle this my own way, okay?

Victor: You know, John, I consider you family. Kristen's not only crazy, she's cunning. I'd hate to see you and Marlena blindsided.

John: Well, I appreciate your concern, victor, but really, there's nothing for you to worry about.

Victor: Well, I'll figure that out for myself. Thanks for coming by. Sorry you didn't hear a word I said, but I got a conference call in a little bit.

John: Always a good talk. I know my way out. Who in this house would be sending Kristen gifts? That's Brady's handwriting.

Kristen: Are you sure nobody saw you when you came here?

Brady: It was really good for me too.

Kristen: Answer my question.

Brady: If you keep hitting me, I'm not gonna give you what I got you.

Kristen: Brady...

Brady: Hmm?

Kristen: You got me a present?

Brady: It's nothing major. Yeah, it's a little--maybe a little something-something.

Kristen: What'd you get me?

Brady: Hold on. I was just thinking about you, right? And I thought that... oh, man, I'm an idiot.

Kristen: You thought you were an idiot?

Brady: [Sighs] I left it at home.

Kristen: Oh, well, that's okay.

Brady: Not really, because I left it on a table at victor's house, where anybody can see it, with an envelope with your name on it.

Kristen: You are an idiot.

John: What's going on here?

Nick: You're not going south on me, buddy, are you?

Will: I'm not your buddy.

Nick: Okay, will, you got to calm down.

Will: Okay, really? How am I supposed to do that?

Nick: We're gonna get through this, okay? Once the wedding is over and the spotlight is off of us, everything will go back to normal.

Will: You know what? How does Gabi feel about being married by my uncle?

Nick: You know what? She was a little surprised at first, but now she's fine. You're not gonna be trouble for us, are you, will?

Gabi: I can only imagine the horrible things that Chad's told you about me.

Sonny: You saying he made all that up?

Sonny: Melanie left Chad because he beat Nick to a pulp. All right? And he doesn't want to believe that, so he's trying to blame it on me.

Sonny: Yeah, well, he's my friend. He and I own a business together. He's never lied to me about anything.

Gabi: Sonny, you weren't there. You don't know what happened, all right? So, please, just... back the hell off.

Chad: I was trying to make Sonny understand that Gabi is poison that can't be trusted and that he should be doing whatever he can to keep her away from will.

Justin: Mm-hmm. And what if Nick finds out?

Chad: You know what? I never should have signed that stupid agreement. What kind of lawyer are you? Who draws up something like that for a guy with a prison record?

Justin: I don't know Gabi very well. And I don't give a damn about Nick. I was actually looking out for you.

Chad: Me?

Justin: Do the math. Gabi has a clean record and a big brother who's a cop. You, on the other hand, are now a member of the DiMera family.

Chad: So what am I supposed to do--just take it?

Justin: Nick has witnesses and pictures of what you did to his face. So, yeah, you just got to take it.

[Door closes]

Abigail: That looked kind of intense. Are you okay?

Chad: Yeah, I'm fine.

Abigail: Are you sure?

Chad: Or I will be if, um... if you go out with me.

Abigail: And why would I do that?

Chad: I don't know--to commiserate, to have some fun. You remember fun, don't you?

Abigail: Fun. Uh, no. Actually, I'm not sure I'm familiar with it.

Chad: So what do you say?

Abigail: I'll think about it.

Chad: [Chuckles]

[Door opens, closes]

Marlena: I feel like my whole life is about Kristen these days. And every time I disengage, she finds some way to pull me right back in.

Eric: And what are those things?

Marlena: I'm beginning to question my own behavior.

Eric: How?

Marlena: Well, do I do what I believe is right or what I think will work best for me?

Eric: I wish-- I wish there was something more I could do, but I don't have a clue on what's going on.

Marlena: I know. I can't give you a clue. I can't even give John a clue. I tried--I couldn't do it.

Eric: Because of what you think... he'll think of you?

Marlena: If he finds out the truth... God knows what he'll do.

Kristen: Hurry.

Brady: What?

Kristen: Hurry.
