Brady: [Grunts] Morning.

Kristen: Oh, my God. We didn't--? [Gasps]

Brady: Yeah, we did.

Kristen: Oh, God. Give it to me-- aah! [Grunts]

Marlena: Thank you.

John: So what is on your agenda for today?

Marlena: Well, there is something that I want to talk to you about.

John: Mm. Let me guess. Is it about Kristen?

Sami: [Sighs]

Rafe: Need water. Thank you for your help with Gabi.

Sami: You're welcome. Wasn't very gracious, was it? The least he could do is update me on how Gabi's feeling.

[Cell phone rings]

[Door opens]

EJ: Hey, oh, I'm sorry. Is that important?

Sami: It can wait.

Nicole: Oh!

Eric: Good morning.

Nicole: Good morning. Bam!

Eric: What is this?

Nicole: It's a packet for the meeting... with the school's building fund. Yes, sister Margaret briefed me.

Eric: [Chuckles] I'm sorry I missed it.

Nicole: Yeah. Me taking orders from a nun? I'm just as surprised. But she loves me. I get the feeling they're lacking in the technical skills department in the church office.

Eric: [Chuckles]

Nicole: But I know I'm gonna be a big hit soon. Promise.

Eric: I'm sure you will.

Nicole: [Giggling] Um, Eric? I really just--I need to thank you again.

Eric: You don't.

Nicole: Yes, I do. Because you're giving me a chance, and I just--I want you to know I am gonna do better.

Gabi: Hey, is Caroline in already?

Will: Yeah, she is, actually. She got here at 7:00. It's really good to see her again.

Gabi: Yeah.

Will: So, um, where's Nick?

Gabi: He actually took a later shift because his aunt Maggie invited him for breakfast.

Will: Hmm.

Gabi: Did you sleep?

Will: Nope. Just kinda, you know, thinking about everything.

Gabi: Okay, so what did you decide?

Will: I didn't yet. But I'm going to, you know? This is my child's future.

Kristen: [Grunting] Oh!

Brady: Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Where are you going? Where are you going?

Kristen: All right.

Brady: Wha--?

Kristen: Go. I mean it, Brady. You gotta go and never come back.

Eric: Nicole, you have made some real steps. I can see that.

Nicole: Well, if you're talking about what I'm wearing, get used to it, 'cause I'm not really sure what else works in this place.

Eric: I meant the fact that you're staying here says enough.

Nicole: Yeah. That is a big change. I haven't slept in a twin bed since I was nine. But, um, it was comfortable. And it was so peaceful, I slept like a rock. How did you sleep?

Eric: Um...I was up all night, uh, with a parishioner.

Nicole: It's true, you are a saint.

Eric: No, I'm not.

[Cell phone ringing]

EJ: Don't you want to get that?

Sami: Um, no. It can wait.

[Phone continues ringing]

Rafe: Ay-yi-yi. Come on, Sami, what do you want now?

Sami: What's this?

EJ: It's the market research for Asia. I have to get out of here and drop a check off to St. Luke's.

Sami: I thought that was Kristen's thing.

EJ: Oh, it is, but she's not answering the phone. Apparently the church is not her top priority today.

Brady: Come on, Kristen--

Kristen: Brady, Brady, Brady.

Brady: What?

Kristen: You have to leave. This was wrong.

Brady: Is that how it felt for you too?

Kristen: Don't start. Don't start with that.

Brady: Look, look--come on, come on. I know this whole thing is unexpected.

Kristen: It's wrong. Completely wrong. Deeply wrong.

Brady: It doesn't feel wrong!

Kristen: Yes, it's wrong! It's almost biblically wrong.

Brady: You know what? Take a deep breath. This was good, all right? Let's just talk about it.

Kristen: No, there's nothing to say. We have to forget this ever happened.

John: I don't want to talk about Kristen, doc, I got a full day. I'll see you.

Marlena: John-- oh, John, j--

[Door shuts]

We put a week's worth

of bad odors in a home.

Will: You know, I was--I was up all night, kind of playing everything in my head.

Gabi: I don't--I don't want this to be a mess for you, will. I really don't think it has to be.

Will: You know, it is my responsibility too, you know.

Gabi: I know. But it doesn't have to be. I mean, if Nick and I decide to raise this baby as our own, then he would be the dad.

Will: So that's-- you decided then? That's what you want? You want me out of the picture?

Gabi: No, I want you to be happy, all right? And I want this baby to have a really great life.

Will: Mm-hmm.

Gabi: And that's why this is such a very difficult decision.

[Door opens]

Will: Yeah.

Rafe: Yeah, that was a hard decision to make. What I don't get is why will is in the middle of this again.

Sami: Well, I'd like to go with you if you don't mind because, well, I earned a break, didn't I?

EJ: Yeah, of course you did. I think we put in enough hard work last night.

Sami: We sure did. It was fun though.

EJ: It was. I think Johnny was right. All work from now on should be fun.

Sami: Yeah, well, it was nice to brainstorm, you know, and have the opportunity to be creative. You had a brilliant idea there, boss.

EJ: Well, you weren't so bad yourself, employee.

Sami: [Laughs] That's "president" to you!

EJ: [Chuckles]

Sami: Ms. President.

Nicole: Um, Eric, I did check out the contributors' list.

Eric: Is there anybody that, uh, we may not have thought of?

Nicole: I can think of a few.

Eric: Well, add them.

Nicole: I don't think you want them to know that I'm working here. I mean, you might actually lose donations.

Eric: I don't think that's something you need to worry about.

Nicole: I just don't want the school to hurt because of me.

Eric: You're here because you're turning your life around. That's our business. Anybody who has a problem with that wouldn't have given us money anyway. You're not gonna get out of here that easy.

Nicole: [Laughs] I wasn't trying to.

Eric: Nicole.

Nicole: [Sighs] Okay, I'm sticking with what I said earlier. You--you might be a saint.

Eric: And you need to stop saying that.

Nicole: No, you have no idea how much this means to me. Thank you.

Brady: I'm not gonna leave you when you're this upset.

Kristen: I'm not upset. I'm not very upset. Look, this happened, right? And I know that you've been going through a difficult time in your life, so there's a million reasons why--

Brady: Kristen, you're saying this was all me?

Kristen: No. There's an attraction there. But, you know, it's more like a friction, you know?

Brady: A friction.

Kristen: Yeah. You hate me, remember?

Brady: That changed.

Kristen: Just for one crazy moment. Now it's over.

Brady: Oh, I don't think it's over.

Kristen: Listen. There's only one word for it-- wrong. Hey big guy,

Gabi: I called him. Will's my best friend, and I wanted to talk to him about some things.

Rafe: Oh, well, great. That's why I'm here.

Will: You know, I have some errands to run, I think.

Rafe: Oh.

Gabi: Okay, yeah, I'll talk to you later.

Rafe: See ya. Why'd you call him and not me?

Gabi: Well, he's my best friend, okay? And you have to respect that. And honestly, the way you treated him yesterday, I don't think it was fair.

Rafe: Sorry. All right? How are you feeling today, hmm?

Gabi: Okay. Bad. Excited. Everything, I don't know.

Rafe: Well, sounds about right. What do you need?

Gabi: I don't know.

Rafe: Well, you got a lot to think about. You made a big decision yesterday.

Gabi: Yeah, well, I also have another big decision to think about.

Rafe: Oh, what's that?

Gabi: Nick asked me to marry him.

Sami: Hey, look at you! So official!

Eric: [Chuckles] How you doing?

Sami: Good. Good to see you.

Eric: You too.

Sami: This is EJ DiMera. My brother Eric. He's a priest. I can't get used to it.

EJ: Mm-hmm. I noticed.

Eric: It's nice to meet you.

EJ: Good to meet you. I've heard many good things about you over the years.

Eric: And we're very grateful for all the things that you and your company have done for us.

EJ: Yes, no doubt. People are always most grateful to us when we lead with our wallets.

Sami: [Chuckles]

EJ: Speaking of which, I do have the check that Kristen forgot yesterday. And I understand there's some sort of matching funds offer.

Eric: Uh, there is. Are you gonna be taking over for Kristen?

EJ: No, no, she's still going to be the point person on this. I'm just filling in. She's a little bit tied up at the moment.

Eric: Well, we look forward to seeing her. Thank you very much for coming by. You know, it's very funny that you two arrived at the same time.

Sami: Um, yeah, well, we were at the office, and we both had to come see you about something.

Eric: The office?

Sami: We work together.

Nicole: I totally forgot half the donor list-- [Clears throat]

Sami: What are you doing here?

Eric: Nicole is our new assistant.

Nicole: I just started this morning.

Sami: No freaking way. Have you lost your mind?

Kate: Welcome me home.

Marlena: Am I your welcoming committee?

Kate: Well, you're the only one here I know.

Marlena: [Laughs]

Kate: Actually, I have to tell you, I think you're going to be pleased with my news.

Marlena: Oh?

Kate: Yes. I've divorced Stefano. I tracked him down in Europe, and I ended the misery for both of us. Good riddance.

Marlena: Is that how you feel about it?

Kate: Oh, I forgot that you're a bore about feelings. I'm rid of him. Oh, I think you of all people would think that's a good idea.

Marlena: I know you loved him. So regardless of what other people felt about him, I know you put a lot into that marriage. And a different man might have appreciated all that effort.

Kate: [Groans] I would have kept going if the bastard had given me half the chance, yes.

Marlena: I know.

Kate: I forgot that you're good at this. What is it? Where did you get that?

Kristen: Get out of here.

Brady: I'm just not buying the tough act here, Kristen.

Kristen: You don't think I mean it?

Brady: I think you're scared to death.

Kristen: And you should be too.

Brady: I'm sorry that this is so--

Kristen: Overwhelming?

Brady: Yeah.

Kristen: When Marlena broke in here and she read my journal, I felt like somebody had just cut me open. I felt so--

Brady: Vulnerable?

Kristen: Exposed.

Brady: [Sighs] I can tell that things run deep with you, and that's why I know what happened last night--I know it wasn't casual for you. It wasn't casual for me.

Kristen: It was completely casual for me.

Brady: Kri--

Kristen: It was. I'm not gonna lie. I mean, obviously I have... feelings for you, Brady, but I was never, ever gonna act on them.

Brady: Because of my father, right?

Kristen: Yes.

Brady: You said you were over my father.

Kristen: Thank you. I am. I've moved on. But I can't move on with you. Don't you feel the slightest bit uncomfortable?

Brady: No. No. I can't take my eyes off you, and it feels--

Kristen: Don't say "right."

Brady: I'm gonna say "right." It feels inevitable. It feels true.

Kristen: Wait a second. You sure this doesn't have anything to do with your father for you?

Brady: No, no.

Kristen: He's never gonna see it that way.

Brady: Why are we talking about my father? He doesn't even know this is happening.

Kristen: Is that what you want to do? You want to sneak around? You're not that kind of man, and I'm not that kind of woman. Well, I mean, not anymore.

Brady: There's gotta be-- there's gotta be a way.

Kristen: There isn't. Trust me. You have to leave. You can't come back. John and Marlena can never know about this, okay? Look at me. This has to be our secret.

Sami: Give me a moment alone with my brother, please.

EJ: Yes, of course. [Clears throat] It has been a real pleasure, father, as always.

Sami: Are you kidding me? I mean, it's like you're asking for trouble. I warned you about Nicole.

Eric: Yes.

Sami: Well, what are you doing? I mean, do you know what she has done to me?

Eric: I know exactly what Nicole's done. And I know what you've done too.

Rafe: I'm not surprised Nick proposed to you. Nick's, uh... well, he's really into you.

Gabi: Yeah, he is, and I love him.

Rafe: Yeah, that's what Sami said. Yeah. So this is good, right? I mean, if that's what's gonna make you happy.

Gabi: Well, I mean, that depends on so much.

Rafe: Yeah.

Gabi: How do you feel about it?

Rafe: Not my decision to make. Yesterday was different. I just wanted you to think clearly and rationally before you did anything.

Gabi: I did, I did. And I did it on my own.

Rafe: You did, and I am so proud of you for that. I would have liked to have known sooner, but--

Gabi: Well, you know everything now, right?

Rafe: Yeah.

Gabi: It was nice to see you and Sami together like that.

Rafe: Yeah, well, Sami and I weren't together like that.

Gabi: I know, I know. I was just--like, you know, it kind of reminded me of when you guys were married. I think you should probably make a move.

Rafe: Yeah, well--hey, hey, we're not talking about me. Right?

Gabi: Well, I mean, why not? Look, you know that you've never been happier with anyone than when you've been with Sami. It's really obvious.

Rafe: Is it?

Gabi: Yeah.

Rafe: All right, well, maybe you're right. I admit it, it was nice spending some time with her. But, uh, it's Sami, so...it's complicated.

Sami: Eric, you couldn't possibly be talking about the things that I have done in the same breath as Nicole walker?

Eric: Well, why not?

Sami: Well, she lied about her baby's father. I mean, she was ready to--

Eric: How long did you let Austin believe that he was will's father?

Sami: That's different. I was a kid, she stole my--

Eric: You tried to sell our baby sister belle when she was a baby.

Sami: I was a kid!

Eric: But you knew it wasn't the right thing. I would have loved you anyway, and I would have been there to help you in any way I could.

Sami: I can't believe you are comparing me and Nicole.

Eric: Why not? You know, between a sin and felony schedule, you and Nicole aren't much different.

Sami: [Scoffs]

EJ: I am truly dumbfounded, I mean, speechless. How does somebody with your particular reputation, your particular rap sheet, and that sexual appetite of yours find themselves working for the priests at St. Luke's?

Nicole: You know, for a guy who's speechless, you sure are talking a lot of smack.

EJ: I'm baffled, that's all. Frankly, I can't quite figure out exactly what you're up to. Because you're up to something.

Nicole: Mm-hmm.

EJ: So what's your plan?

Nicole: I'm changing, EJ. That's the plan, and I want a life where people like you can't hurt me anymore because they don't even get the chance.

EJ: Oh, I see. So you're taking up the veil, right?

Nicole: I don't need to become a nun. Just a better person. And I'm gonna get there.

EJ: [Scoffs]

Kate: Well, this is the prototype for a brand-new countess w lipstick. I mean, it's not going to be launched for weeks. This should be completely under wraps.

Marlena: How do you know all that?

Kate: It's my business to know that, Marlena. I've had chemists working on this for weeks.

Marlena: [Laughs] Oh, God. Lovely business you're in.

Kate: Well, it's standard corporate research, believe me. They would have done the exact same thing to me. It's just been so hard to get my hands on this though. Actually, there's no more than five prototypes that exist.

Marlena: And who would have them?

Kate: Well, Sami would have one. Kristen would have one.

Brady: [Sighs]

[Door closes]

Brady: [Sighs]

Kristen: [Sighs]

Sami: You are bringing up things that I did when I was a kid. I'm talking about the crimes that Nicole has committed in this century. She is a grown woman, and she should know better.

Eric: You know, even though you say things like that, I still love you.

Sami: Eric, you're my little brother. And I think you want to believe the best in people. But that means you get taken advantage of.

Eric: You think I'm a big sucker?

Sami: I think you have a big heart, and sometimes that means you have poor judgment.

Eric: Did you just say that I have poor judgment?

Sami: You hired Nicole.

Eric: And you're working with EJ.

Sami: [Scoffs]

Eric: I know what he's done to you, to my niece, to our family.

Sami: EJ isn't Stefano. He's a good father.

Eric: I saw the show earlier. That's why you brought EJ over here, isn't it? To make sure he had a good front, that he didn't slip up in front of me?

Sami: Wow, you are working hard to get me off track, aren't you?

Eric: And you're the one to talk about lousy judgment. You've been making lousy judgments since you were three, Samantha jean. Don't play that card with me.

Nicole: I can't run from me anymore, EJ, this is it. I'm not a fool, and I am not getting any younger. And if I don't make these changes now, I probably never will.

EJ: [Chuckles]

Nicole: What, you don't agree with me?

EJ: I don't really like the odds on you changing. See, I think you're hard-wired to have all of these self-destructive tendencies.

Nicole: Oh, yeah, and you would know all about those, wouldn't you? You're still trying to get Sami back, aren't you?

EJ: [Laughs] Why would you think that?

Nicole: You don't--you don't think I can see it? You want her, even though it's hopeless. She fell in love with Rafe the day they met. They have real love. And you can't compete with that. Excuse me, I have work to do.

EJ: The lord's work, no doubt.

Nicole: No doubt.

Rafe: All right. Well, I've gotta get to the station, all right?

Gabi: Great, I mention Sami, and now all of a sudden, you have to go.

Rafe: If you need me, I'll call in.

Gabi: No, I'm good.

Rafe: You sure?

Gabi: Yeah, I'm good.

Rafe: Okay. Well, see you guys later, all right?

Gabi: Stop!

Rafe: Take care.

Gabi: Bye.

Rafe: Okay, bye.

[Door closes]

Will: What did you tell him?

Gabi: That Nick proposed to me.

Will: And that's it? What did he think about that?

Gabi: Well, he said it was my decision to make.

Will: You, um, you want to go with Nick's plan, don't you?

Gabi: Well, I just think that it's the best thing for everybody.

Will: Okay. So, um, you two get married. You raise the baby like it's his, and then we lie to my child for the rest of his life.

Gabi: Well, now you're making it sound--

Will: Wrong? Yeah. That's--that's it. That's how I was raised. I was lied to. I didn't know who my father was. So how could I do that to my own child?

John: [Sighs]

Kristen: Thank you.

[Cell phone rings]

John: John black.

Kristen: Hi. It's Kristen. I need to see you. Now.

The weather outside is frightful

Sami: All that stuff about poor judgment--I didn't think priests were allowed to be mean.

Eric: I didn't intend to be unkind. Was it honest?

Sami: Maybe at one time. But not anymore.

Eric: So EJ...is what?

Sami: He's my boss. He's the father of my children. And, yes--yes, it would mean a lot to me if you guys could get along.

Eric: What else is going on?

Sami: Nothing.

Eric: Good. Sami, the guy kidnapped your child.

Sami: I know, okay? I know what he's done. I know the terrible things that he has done--

Eric: Wait, wait. Terrible?

Sami: But he also gave me sole custody of those kids because he thought it was the right thing for them. He ran for mayor because he wanted to make his kids proud of him. He's done--the point is, he's changed.

Eric: He's changed. You've changed. I've changed. Nicole, she can't change?

Sami: No. No! Nicole walker cannot change.

Eric: Look, you may not believe it, but I do. Nicole is trying.

Sami: She might be trying, but she will not succeed.

Eric: I've seen the other side of her.

Sami: Yeah. Exactly.

Eric: No. Don't.

Sami: Come on, don't you think that's why she's here?

Eric: I'm helping Nicole, just like I would help anybody else in trouble.

Sami: She's not anybody else. She's the first woman you were ever with. She was your first love. And I don't think that just disappeared with that collar.

Gabi: Look, I know it sucks to think about lying to your child and everybody else. But what alternative do we have? I mean, imagine what your life could be. Imagine what would happen with Sonny.

Will: I think he'll understand. I mean, it's not like we were-- like he and I were together when this whole thing happened.

Gabi: No. No, but we've been lying to him for a long time.

Will: You know, I think he could get over that.

Gabi: Could he get over knowing that you're committed to raising this child for the next 20 years? Could he deal with that?

Will: I don't know.

Gabi: How would this--how would this even work? I mean, would this kid go back and forth between us? Is that--?

Will: No.

Gabi: Will, I care about you. Okay, you know that. But you also know that we can't raise this child living together because there are thousands of reasons why that would never work.

Will: Yeah, I'm beginning to see why that would be a nightmare.

Gabi: And what if Sonny leaves when he finds out the truth?

Will: This--

Gabi: Could you accept that?

Will: This isn't about me, Gabi.

Gabi: I know. I know that. God, do you know how lucky I am? Look, I have this man that loves me and knows the truth about this baby and still wants to raise it as his own.

Will: What happens to that acceptance if I go public as the father, hmm? And he can't raise it as his own? Do you think he's still gonna want to be involved?

Gabi: I don't know.

Will: Okay, so you could lose Nick.

Gabi: And you could lose Sonny.

Will: I guess our baby bounces back and forth, like you said.

Gabi: Maybe it wouldn't be like that.

Will: Yeah. Trust me, it is. That's exactly how I grew up.

Brady: [Sighs]

[Door opens]

Billie: Welcome home, mama.

Kate: Baby, hi.

Billie: Hi, honey. Ooh! Hi, Marlena.

Marlena: Hi, honey.

Billie: I just saw John at the Salem inn.

Marlena: Oh.

Billie: Yeah, I said hi, but I don't think he heard me.

Marlena: Well, he's been awfully busy lately. You know, and I actually have to run myself.

Billie: But--

Kate: Do you have to rush off?

Marlena: I do. I actually do. Thank you. Good to see you both.

Billie: Bye.

Kate: Okay, bye.

Marlena: [Scoffs] You've played me for the last time, Kristen.

Kristen: Hi, John, I'm glad you came by. There's something I need to discuss with you.

Will: I was the trophy in the sami-lucas wars. And I know how that feels.

Gabi: We could promise each other that it would never be like that.

Will: Yeah, we could. We could say it. We could promise it. We could even mean it.

Gabi: I know that it's hard.

Will: Well, it's just as hard for you.

Gabi: It could be a lot easier.

Will: Yes, if we lie about my baby.

Gabi: If we tell the truth, we can both lose the people that we love. And we'd still have to raise this baby. Are you sure that's what you want, will?

Sami: EJ.

EJ: Oh, how did it go?

Sami: Oh, it's a total train wreck. I mean, Nicole is gonna try to ruin Eric's life again. Just like she did before she--

EJ: Samantha. I'm not going to let that happen, okay? I promise. Okay?

Sami: Okay.

Nicole: You just went a few rounds with Sami, didn't you?

Eric: Yeah, well--

Nicole: Look, Eric, you're new at this priest thing, and this is your first gig and everything, and I don't want to mess it up.

Eric: Have you?

Nicole: Well, you're fighting with your family because of me.

Eric: Have you changed?

Nicole: What?

Eric: Nicole, do you really mean that you've changed?

Nicole: I do.

Eric: Then everything's settled. We're fine here.

Nicole: Yeah, but I mean, you're--

Eric: It's settled.

Nicole: Okay.

Eric: And we have work to do, all right? This is a list of more potential donors for our school. So why don't you add them to the list?

Nicole: Okay. I will.

Billie: So how was it with Stefano?

Kate: [Sighs] Brutal. But final.

Billie: I'm sorry.

Kate: No, you're not.

Billie: I am too! I'm sorry that you're sad, and I'm sorry that it hurts. But I still think it's for the best.

Kate: I know. [Sighs] So do I.

Billie: It's gonna get better. You closed one door, and another one's gonna open, and you never know what's gonna be on the other side.

Kate: [Sighs]

Kristen: [Moans]
