Sami: Oh! What are you doing here?

Lucas: Well, you got the good coffee...

Sami: [Laughs]

Lucas: And I thought that Will was gonna be with you.

Sami: Are you kidding? He's out celebrating. You got my message, right? All the charges were dropped.

Lucas: Yeah, yeah, hallelujah to that. Um, it's all over the news though. In fact, a reporter wanted a quote from me, and that's when I found out why the charges were dropped.

Sami: Will's alibi.

Lucas: Yeah. Yeah, his alibi. I mean, don't get me wrong, Sami, I'm glad he has an alibi, it's just that--you know, it kind of caught me off guard to hear that our son was on a date at a gay bar when Stefano was killed.

Sami: Hey, it's not your average alibi, but you know what, it works. Neil was willing to vouch for Will.

Lucas: Yeah, Neil outed our son to the whole world. Now everybody knows he's gay, whether he wanted them to or not.

Will: So what do I do now?

Sonny: About what?

Will: About being out to everybody at once? I--

Sonny: Dude, you are free now. You're out of the closet and cleared of murder in one amazing day. Smile.

Will: Good point, actually. I-I just wish I could see it the way that you see it.

Sonny: You will, my man, before you know it.

[Doorbell rings]

John: [Chuckles] I'm sorry, partner.

Abe: Thank you.

John: I'm sorry.

Abe: Thank you.

Marlena: [Sobs] Oh, gosh, there are no words.

Abe: You know what? Uh, come in, come in. [Laughs]

Marlena: Abe, we-- [Sobs] We'd like to do anything. Can we do anything?

Abe: Bo and Hope took care of all that, there's nothing-- I just-- thank you for being here.

Marlena: [Sighs]

Cameron: Mom? Don't you think it's time we go inside, say something to Abe?

Celeste: I'm not ready yet.

Cameron: It's hard. I know.

Celeste: I need to be here in this place, where my baby girl left this world.

Cameron: Mind if I join you?

Celeste: [Sobs] Please.

Cameron: [Sighs] I wish I'd had more time with her too.

Celeste: I'm sorry.

Cameron: I'm--I'm grateful for what we did have.

Celeste: [Sighs] And now, I suppose you'll go back to your old life, and you'll leave me too.

Cameron: No, Mom. That's not gonna happen.

Chad: [Sniffles]

Abigail: Chad.

Chad: [Sniffs] Hey.

Abigail: How are you doing?

Chad: Uh--

Abigail: I'm sorry, that sounds so lame. You just lost your father.

Chad: Well--well, it's a whole lot worse than that.

Abigail: Why, what happened?

Chad: Melanie and I got in a fight. She left me. I-I don't know what to do.

[Lock turning]

Gabi: [Sighs] Well, as long as Melanie stays away, I think I'll be good.

Andrew: Well... I'll take you upstairs.

Gabi: What's wrong?

Andrew: Nothing.

Sami: Certainly wish Carrie and Justin had managed to keep Will's personal life out of the press.

Lucas: I'm sure they tried to do that, Sami.

Sami: I'm sure they did, but the story isn't even that the charges were dropped against him. The story is that a gay kid was accused of murder and that his alibi is that he was on a date with a guy.

Lucas: Yeah, yeah, I know. Well, I guess the point is, he's not going to jail, and this is all over. He's innocent.

Sami: Yes, but like you said, it's how it happened.

Lucas: How did he handle it?

Sami: Well, I mean, he was certainly surprised that his... friend Neil came to--to tell the true story, but once the truth was out, he didn't deny it. In fact, he said he was coming to tell us.

Lucas: Well, that's good. That's a good thing, right?

Sami: Yeah. You would've been so proud. I was so proud, the way he handled himself. He was great.

Lucas: I guess maybe now that everyone knows, he'll finally feel comfortable in his own skin.

Sami: I hope so.

Lucas: You hope so? Why do you hope so? What--what aren't you telling me?

Will: You know, I guess I couldn't control coming out any more than I could control how people took it.

Sonny: Why, did someone give you a hard time?

Will: No. Just my grandfather...has concerns. You know, he said it's not about me though as much as the-- I don't know, the bad stuff that could happen to me or whatever.

Sonny: I told you, that's the same thing I went through with my Uncle Vic. You know, I went there, I wanted this--this big hug...

Will: [Laughs]

Sonny: An "A" for honesty, but you know what I got? Neither.

Will: [Laughs] Yeah, but he's cool now.

Sonny: What--you know, your granddad just needs some time. Give him some time, and he'll see that you're the same will and that being gay is just a part of who you are.

Will: Well, I hope you're right.

Sonny: Have you met me? I am always right, every time. [Laughs]

Will: So cocky.

Sonny: [Laughs]

Melanie: Oh, my God! [Whimpers]

Celeste: Cameron, you have a life to get back to, a job, a home.

Cameron: Actually, I'm thinking about making Salem home.

Celeste: You are? Really?

Cameron: [Laughs] I've gotten pretty attached to my nephew.

Celeste: [Laughs] And Theodore to you.

Cameron: Plus, I really like University Hospital, and if I stay, then it's like I'm keeping Lexie's work alive.

Celeste: She would love that. Well, this is marvelous, truly it is. But, Cameron, I know there is more behind this decision than family and work.

Cameron: Okay, Mom. Tell me what you think you know.

Celeste: Abigail Deveraux. You're staying in Salem to be with her.

Cameron: [Chuckles]

Abigail: Wait, wait, back up. Melanie just up and left Salem because she had a fight with you?

Chad: Well, ask Gabi, she can tell you.

Abigail: Wow, must have been some fight.

Chad: [Chuckling] Yeah, it was. And I felt really bad about it-- I felt really bad afterwards, so I tried to apologize. I-I called her, I texted her a bunch of times, but she wouldn't answer me, until I finally got an email saying she went to Europe to be with her mom.

Abigail: What?

Chad: Yeah, I couldn't believe it either.

Abigail: Have you gotten ahold of her since?

Chad: I tried, but she won't answer.

Abigail: This just doesn't sound like her. This doesn't sound like Melanie.

Chad: Yeah, I know, tell me about it. Seems like she just disappeared. You think something's wrong, don't you?

Andrew: Mel-a-nie. You are my honored guest. See, I wouldn't dream of leaving you alone, especially here... [Chuckles] In a place that is so... strange to you.

Melanie: Yeah, no, I just-- um, I just opened the door 'cause it was hard to breathe in there, it was stuffy, s--

Andrew: The door was locked.

Melanie: It was locked? I just--'cause I was able to just-- [Grunts] Get off me!

Andrew: [Grunts]

Melanie: Get--let me go!

Andrew: [Grunts]

Melanie: [Whimpers]

[Both struggle]

Abe: Yeah, everything-- everything she grew was, um, for a reason. The gardenias were from her bridal bouquet, and, uh-- you know, the lilacs--lilacs, they--she said that those were your favorite flowers, and they made her think of you.

Marlena: Lexie never forgot anything about the people she loved and cared about.

Abe: Yeah, well, you know, when she wanted to grow roses, she--she warned me, she said they were--they were delicate and--and prickly and took a lot of work. [Chuckles] [Sniffs] And--and--and she wasn't kidding. They--I mean, I'm just so glad that, uh--[Sniffs]

Marlena: Well, that--

John: Hey, partner--partner, you know, what you and Lexie created was a real testament to your love.

Marlena: It must comfort you.

Abe: [Sobs]

John: I-I-I'm sure that she crossed over exactly the way she wanted to.

Abe: Yeah, I just--I-I-- I had no idea it was so close.

Marlena: She was--she was very brave, you know.

Abe: Ev--even when she-- [Sniffs] Even knowing what Stefano did to her, you know, she was never-- never bitter for a second.

Marlena: What st--I don't know--what does that mean?

Abe: Roman didn't tell you?

Marlena: No.

Abe: When she was held prisoner in those tunnels underneath the DiMera mansion, she was exposed to a toxic gas that caused her tumor.

Marlena: Oh! Oh, no, Abe.

Abe: I mean-- [Sniffs] She died because of Stefano, and I didn't want her to know it, but she--she overheard us arguing and--

Marlena: I'm so sorry.

Abe: And knowing that your-- your own father cost you your life... I can't even begin to fathom what was going through her mind, I--it's just-- I swear-- [Sobs] Somehow she--she found a way to forgive him. I mean, that's how amazing she was.

John: So that old bastard went to his grave knowing that he was responsible for his daughter's death.

Abe: Yeah, well... you know, in a way, he got off easy, uh--

[Phone ringing]

Abe: If he had been here today, there would be no worse punishment.

Marlena: I'm so sorry, excuse me one second.

John: What do you got? [Sniffs, clears throat]

Marlena: Oh, John.

John: [Clears throat]

Marlena: Will's been released from jail. He is no longer a suspect.

John: My God, that's great news.

Marlena: Yeah.

Abe: Oh, I'm glad to hear that.

John: How did Carrie get him off?

Marlena: Well, it wasn't Carrie, it-- will had a-a-- a date with a young man, and he came forward and gave the alibi.

Sonny: Yeah. And I know I told you that coming out would be this huge relief for you--and it will be-- I mean, I hope it already is, but sometimes people just aren't gonna feel the same way.

Will: I know. You know when you opened common grounds, my grandfather came to me and he told me that if anybody gave you any trouble for being different, to come to him, and he'd handle it.

Sonny: Yeah?

Will: And it's ironic 'cause now I'm the person who's different, and he can't handle it.

Sonny: Sooner or later, he'll have to.

Will: What if he doesn't?

Sami: I think my dad was more shocked than anything else, you know? I mean, especially given the fact that Will would rather take a murder rap than admit where he was that night, you know? Instead, he finds out from that guy Neil...

Lucas: Yeah.

Sami: In front of a whole crowd at police headquarters.

Lucas: Something so private becoming so public, that had to have been hard.

Sami: Yeah. Well, you and I were pretty shocked when will told us. You handled it better than I did. I'm so--so mad at myself. Should've just hugged him, you know, and kept my mouth shut until I figured out the right thing to say. But I think I made up for it today.

Lucas: Do I even want to ask?

Sami: I told Will that if my dad or anyone else gives him a hard time, they're gonna have to answer to me.

Cameron: Mom, the main reason for me to stay in Salem is to be close to my family. Lexie wanted Theo to get to know me better, and I want the chance to be a real uncle to him.

Celeste: I think that's wonderful. Abraham will too, but getting back to Abigail, I still feel that there's something that--

Cameron: A dark cloud, a bad aura. Come on. Mom, you know I don't believe in that stuff.

Celeste: It's more than a feeling, Cameron, it's a gift, and I am hardly ever wrong. I knew my precious Alexandra's fate before anyone else, and now I sense these horrible, frightening feelings about Abigail.

Cameron: Like what?

Celeste: I don't know.

Cameron: Of course.

Celeste: Things I can't control or stop, but I can warn you not to let her darkness envelop you.

Cameron: Mom, how 'bout this? If there's anything bad headed her way, I'm gonna be the guy to protect her from it.

Abigail: So what was this fight about anyway?

Chad: My dad. I mean, what else, right? I found out Will got arrested, and I went ballistic. I got upset with Melanie for taking his side. Oh, and then I accused her of being happy that my father was dead.

Abigail: Oh.

Chad: Yeah.

Abigail: Ouch.

Chad: I-I didn't mean any of it 'cause I'm just angry that I shut my dad out of my life for as long as I did. I mean, I-I shouldn't have blamed Melanie for that. I mean, I tried to tell her.

Abigail: But she's not answering any of your texts?

Chad: No, I mean, just--just an email saying that she went to Europe. [Sighs]

Abigail: [Sighing] Oh, God. What are you going to do, Chad?

Chad: I don't know. I'm thinking about going to Europe myself and just apologizing to her in person.

Gabi: No, Chad, I think that's a really bad idea.

Melanie: No! Who are you, and why are you doing this?

Andrew: I'm your host, and I have my reasons.

Melanie: Oh! But I don't understand what I've done and why you won't let me go!

Andrew: Let you go? After an act like that? I may keep you here for the rest of your life.

John: Huh. Don't journalists check facts anymore? Just because Will was out with a buddy doesn't make him gay, if that's what they're trying to imply.

Marlena: Of course it doesn't... but he is.

John: You knew that?

Marlena: For a while now.

John: Why didn't you tell me?

Marlena: It wasn't my place, John. It's Will's place, when he's ready.

John: Doesn't matter. Next time I see him, I'll tell him, I love him just the same.

Abe: You know... I respect anyone who lives their own truth. So did Lexie.

Marlena: Abe?

Abe: Mm.

Marlena: Is there anything we can do for you?

Abe: You know, um... know what? Uh, I didn't ask Bo and Hope to call Chad. I thought EJ would do that himself, but, uh, he was in pretty bad shape when he left.

Marlena: Mm.

Abe: Uh, could you--?

Marlena: I'd be glad to.

Abe: Thank you. Uh, the number's in the kitchen by the--

Marlena: By the phone.

Abe: Yeah.

Marlena: I remember. I'll take care of it.

John: Hey, partner. You don't have to be so strong, man. When I thought I lost Doc, I cried in front of you so many times. And it helped. I don't know what I would have done without you.

Abe: [Sighs] [Sniffs] I think I'm still in shock, I-- you know, I-I know that I have to be strong for my son. You know, it--it's... it's like it's the other way around. He--he knew his mother was gone before I told him. He said that she was watching over us. She always will. He said it with-- [Sniffs] he said it with so much certainty, John. I truly believed him.

John: Well, you should. Abraham, children-- oh, they have this gift that we adults have lost along the line. Just don't forget that you've got friends. We are always, always gonna be here for you.

Abe: Thank you.

Celeste: And you have us. Hope called. I'm so sorry.

Abe: [Sniffs] I'm sorry too.

Gabi: Sorry, that came out a little bit intense. Um, what I'm trying to say is that I think--I think it's a big mistake for you to go running after Melanie.

Abigail: And why is that? 'Cause I think if someone flew to Europe to find me and beg their forgiveness, I'd forgive them.

Gabi: Yeah, I-I know, I mean, I get the whole grand gesture bit, I get you. It's just that I think that if somebody needs space, they should get it. You know, when this stalker guy started following me--

Abigail: Wha--come on, seriously? You're gonna compare Chad to your stalker?

Gabi: Melanie... went to Europe to get away from Chad. If she feels cornered in another continent, then I think you're gonna blow your chances for good.

Abigail: So what's he supposed to do, Gabi, hmm? Just--just sit by the phone and wait for her to call or come home?

Gabi: Exactly.

Chad: I don't know if I can do that.

Abigail: You know what, Chad? Wait. Maybe she has a point. As much as I hate to admit it, it's true. Maybe Melanie already feels you pushing her. Maybe that's why she only answered once to your texts and your calls.

Chad: Look, I wanted to fix things. I-I still do.

Abigail: I know. I know you do, so that's why maybe you should do like Gabi suggested and just give her a little bit of breathing room.

Chad: This--

Abigail: She'll come home. Chad, she'll come home. She has family here and--and friends. She loves you.

Chad: Just wish I would have heard something--anything.

[Phone ringing]

Abigail: Maybe that's her.

Chad: Hello?

Marlena: Chad, it's Marlena Evans... W-Will's grandmother. Abe asked me to call you.

Chad: [Sniffs] It's about Lexie, isn't it?

Marlena: Yes, she--um, she died at home today... in her garden, with Abe and her son.

Chad: [Sniffs] That's, uh... well, I guess that's how she would have wanted it.

Marlena: Abe wasn't--Abe wasn't sure if EJ had contacted you.

Chad: No--no, he hasn't, so thank you, and I'll--[Sniffs] I'll be there soon.

Abigail: Chad, I'm so sorry.

Gabi: Me too.

Chad: [Sniffs, sobs]

Melanie: Okay. Okay, okay!

Andrew: Now, why would you ever want to leave a place like this, especially when you have room service?

Melanie: What are you planning on doing to me?

Andrew: Oh, see, that-- that depends on you, pretty lady. See, if you're good, well, then I can be good. But if you're bad, well... I'm really good at being bad, if you know what I mean.

Melanie: Do you think you know bad? My boyfriend is a DiMera. My grandmother is married to Victor Kiriakis.

Andrew: Oh. I didn't know that.

Melanie: Of course. That's okay. Nothing's happened. But you don't want either family coming after you, or worse, both families coming after you because then... then you are a dead man.

Marlena: I spoke to Chad. He'll be here soon.

Abe: Oh, thank you. Uh, Celeste and Cameron, are going to help with the arrangements.

John: What else can we do?

Abe: Oh, go be with Will. Celebrate his freedom.

Marlena: Yes, and... make sure he's okay.

John: Yeah. Not that we thought for a minute that he murdered Stefano, but now the search for his killer's gonna start all over again.

Abe: There are so many suspects.

John: You sure you don't want us to stick around, partner?

Abe: Uh, you know... actually, I'd like to spend a little bit of quiet time with my son.

John: Oh, okay.

Marlena: Oh, darling. Oh. [Sighs]

Abe: Yes.

John: Hey, you remember, I'm just a phone call away, okay?

Marlena: Bye, Theo.

John: Yeah, see you, kid.

Theo: Bye.

John: We'll, uh, see you soon.

Celeste: We're, uh, we're going too.

Abe: Thank you. Yeah. [Sniffs] Hey, man. Mm. Thanks a lot.

Cameron: Yeah.

Abe: Uh, look, uh... call and tell me what he said, will you, please? Thank you.

Cameron: We'll call you later.

Abe: Yeah.

Cameron: Okay.

Abe: [Sighs]

Theo: Daddy? What do we do now?

Lucas: You know, I wish I'd been there, down at the station, when all this happened. That would've been nice, if you gave me a little heads-up.

Sami: I'm sorry, it was a million things happening, but you would have been proud of him. I was.

Lucas: Well, I would have been proud of you too. And that sounded condescending, so I'm sorry.

Sami: [Laughs] It didn't. I know what you meant. And you know, of course we're always gonna worry about Will, he's our kid, but after today, I... think it's gonna be all right. Think he's gonna be good.

Lucas: Well, I think we should go find him, go tell him how proud we are of him.

Sami: That's a great idea.

Lucas: Isn't it?

Sami: Let's go.

Lucas: Let's do it.

Sami: I'm driving.

Lucas: Uh, you gonna leave your coffee?

Sami: Yes. Let's get new coffee.

Lucas: That coffee's pretty good.

Sami: [Laughing] No.

[Phone ringing]

John: Hey, there he is.

Marlena: Yeah. Honey, um, I'm sorry, it's a patient. Go ahead, I've got to take this. I'll be right in.

John: Sure.

Will: You know, though, I gotta give my mom some credit, for once. She was really there for me today, and... I don't know, that's something I haven't felt in a long time.

Sonny: That's great. What about your dad?

[Door closes]

Will: He's been cool since the day he found out I was gay.

John: Ah, your old man's not the only one.

Sonny: Mr. Black.

John: Oh, hi. Hey, Sonny.

Will: How are ya?

John: Good.

Will: Uh, I guess you heard.

John: Yeah, you're gay, you're out, and I'm proud. [Laughter] I'm proud of you, kid, for owning your own truth. Being a man about the man that you are, and what you did today, damn, it took some real courage.

Will: Uh--um--[Laughs] Gee. I--wow, thank you. [Laughing] I-I don't know--thanks. I-I-I can't take the credit though, I-I mean, I wouldn't be out and okay with it if it weren't for Sonny. And, of course, you.

Marlena: [Sighs]

Will: You know, I wouldn't be me without you.

Marlena: Oof. I am so happy for you.

Will: [Laughs]

John: Hey, we all are.

Sonny: Totally, man.

Will: [Laughs] Uh, wow. I'm starting to be happy for me too, then. Uh, like I said though, Sonny had a-a lot to do with that.

Marlena: Tell me.

Will: Um--[Laughs] Just that--you know, he knew before I was sure, and he didn't push me. He just listened to me whining all the time. [Both laugh] So--and you know, you always told me the truth, so you made me see that, uh, I can be okay with--with who I am, so... you know, thank you. [Chuckles]

Sonny: You're welcome.

Sami: Will? For the record, nothing could make us ever love you any less.

Abigail: Chad, I hate to leave at a time like this, but I have to go, I have an exam.

Gabi: It's okay, I'm-- I'm here, it's okay.

Abigail: I'll check in with you later, okay? It's gonna be okay, and you call me if you need anything.

Chad: Yeah.

Abigail: Okay.

Gabi: Is there anything you need, or is there anything you want right now?

Chad: [Sniffs] Actually, there is.

Abigail: Celeste, Cameron... I just heard about Lexie. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Cameron: Thanks.

Celeste: Yeah. Come, Cameron, Abraham is counting on us.

Cameron: Can you just give me a minute with Abigail?

Celeste: [Sighs] All right.

Cameron: I'm sorry if she sounded kind of--

Abigail: No, it's okay. She's, uh, she's still in shock that Lexie's gone.

Cameron: We all are.

Abigail: This must be so hard for you.

Cameron: To be honest, I'm still reeling. I had a sister for years, and I only got to know her the last few months of her life. I can only imagine what Abe and Theo and my mom are going through, but I feel... cheated... and sad.

Abigail: I understand. And I'm sorry.

Cameron: Thanks. [Sighs] I just--God. I hope that I can be the kind of uncle to Theo that Lexie wanted me to be.

Abigail: You will be. You will be all that and more.

Gabi: What is it, Chad? What do you want?

Chad: Melanie. I want her back.

Melanie: Look, nothing's happened yet. I don't need to know who you are. I don't need to know why you locked me up in here. You just let me go, and everything will be fine.

Andrew: [Sighs] No.

Melanie: Why?

Andrew: [Grunts] 'Cause nobody is gonna come looking for you any time soon. Not after the fight that you had with your boyfriend in town square. See, everybody--everybody thinks that you're in Europe.

Melanie: Why would they think that?

Andrew: Because of the email you sent your boyfriend. [Laughs]

Melanie: Well, m-my dad and my grandmother, they'll know something's wrong if--if--if I don't check in with them.

Andrew: Oh, but s--but--but you will check in with them. See, you know, you're gonna-- you're gonna keep in constant contact. "Hey, everybody, Europe is great. I may never come home."

Sami: Your dad and I were talking about, um, everything that's happened and you and--

Lucas: And how you've handled it. And we can tell just by looking at you that the burden you've been carrying around is now gone, so... we're happy.

Sami: We're happy for you.

Sonny: See, what'd I tell you, buddy? Your family stepped up to the plate, just like mine did.

Sami: It took us a little longer, but hey, we got there.

Lucas: Some of us.

Sami: That's what matters, right? But the rest of us--all of us are gonna get there. I promise you that.

Lucas: Yeah, we just love you very much.

Sami: More than you'll ever know.

Will: [Laughs]

Sami: [Laughs]

Gabi: Look, Chad, I get that you want Melanie back. You just--you just lost your dad, and now you lost your sister. You need somebody to talk to, you need somebody to be with, and before that fight, Melanie was that person.

Chad: Now she's on a plane to Europe, and I can't even chase after her because I have to bury my sister. And I need her more than ever now, and she's gone. And I have no idea what I'm gonna do.

Gabi: Let me help you, Chad. Okay? Lean on me.

Melanie: Come on, you have to let me out of here! Ugh!

Theo: Daddy?

Abe: [Sniffs] Uh--[Clears throat] Yeah, I'm--I'm down here, son.

Theo: I miss Mommy.

Abe: Yeah. Yeah, me too. Mm. You know what? Mommy put together these pictures to remember her by. So that whenever we feel-- whenever we feel sad, we can remember all the wonderful times we had with mommy. You know what? I look at you, and I see mommy in your eyes. And your smile.

Theo: [Chuckles]

Abe: I love you, Theo.

[Solemn music]

Tantalizing summertime against the afternoon blowing wishes to the sky so dreams will come true candles on a birthday cake rhythm of my breath keeping secret all desire and hope for happiness if I could make one last wish I would do it all again I would hold the hands of time

Abe: [Chuckles]
