Nicole: Would you believe I was just checking to make sure that someone picked up the DNA test?

Daniel: I believe you're switching a DNA test. Were you? Do you really think you can get away with it?

Nicole: Yes? No? I-I don't know. I don't-- I'm just scared, Daniel. What am I gonna do when EJ finds out this baby is his?

[Pop music playing]

Abigail: Ahem. Ahem.

Melanie: Hi. Oh, sorry.

Abigail: I totally won't be offended if you tell me to get lost.

Chad: Uh, get outta here.

Melanie: Yeah.

Chad: I'm kidding.

Melanie: Sit down. Don't be silly. Where's your man?

Abigail: Cameron? He's, uh, he's at the hospital checking on one of his sister's patients.

Chad: He's a good man.

Abigail: Yeah. So where's Gabi? I thought she was hanging out with you guys tonight.

Chad: Mm, I haven't seen her.

Melanie: She wasn't at the apartment. She better not be alone.

Chad: Yeah, especially with that creep who's been stalking her.

Gabi: [Gasps] Oh, my God. You scared me.

Will: Gabi? What the hell are you doing here? This is the sketchiest part of town.

Gabi: Yeah, I could ask you the same thing. What's--what's in this bag?

Will: Don't.

Gabi: What's in the bag?

Will: Don't, Gabi. Don't!

Lucas: EJ, hold up a sec.

EJ: I don't have time, Lucas.

Lucas: Do you know where I can find Will?

EJ: No, I have no idea where Will is.

Lucas: Sure you do. You got him on call 24/7. Just tell me where he is.

EJ: He does not work for me anymore.

Stefano: [Groans] [Sighs] I'm going to be lost without you, Alexandra. Lost.

Hope: Roman, what's up?

Roman: I just got off the phone with Shane. Apparently, the big guns at the CIA aren't real happy with us. They didn't appreciate our efforts in trying to bring down Stefano.

John: Yeah, well, that's tough.

Roman: Bottom line is we have been ordered to be on our best behavior where Stefano is concerned.

Hope: Heh. We're being told to back off? When this psychopath tried to blow us up?

Marlena: It's true. There is no justice.

Bo: So Shane told those CIA jerks where they could shove it, right?

Roman: He tried. He tried, but they weren't very receptive. The way they see it, they couldn't have caught those arms traffickers without DiMera's help. They're also claiming that we almost botched their entire operation.

Hope: So we're not supposed to touch Stefano, right?

Roman: I don't like it any better than you do.

Marlena: Stefano has to be stopped before he hurts us or our families.

John: Oh, he will be stopped, Doc. You have my word on that.

Will: Gabi, I said let go. Gabi, let--

Gabi: What is your big deal? Why are you getting so freaked out?

Will: I'm not.

Gabi: I guess it's not takeout for EJ.

Will: Okay, drop it. You never told me what you're doing here, anyway.

Gabi: I-I got lost, okay? I was supposed to meet some friends from my anthropology class, and I must've gotten the address wrong. It's probably East Maple, not West.

Will: Okay, well, it's not safe for you to be out here by yourself. What about--what about the, uh, that stalker that you keep telling me about? He could be anywhere. So I'm just gonna take you--

Gabi: No, you have no right--

Will: Don't argue with me.

Gabi: No, Will, you have to--

Will: Don't argue with me.

Gabi: Oh, my God.

Lucas: Wow, this must be the best day of my life. Don't tell me. My son finally came to his senses and told you what you could do with your damn job?

EJ: Actually, uh, he didn't quit, Lucas. I fired him.

Lucas: Oh, yeah, right. You fired him. A willing assistant that doesn't ask probing questions about your extracurricular activities, and you fired him? Come on. All right, why? Why did you fire my son?

EJ: You sound somewhat conflicted. It's interesting you didn't ask why he wanted to work for me in the first place, and now you sound almost self-righteously indignant about the fact that I fired him.

Lucas: I don't know. It just doesn't make much sense to me. I mean, I didn't want him working for you, but he was fond of the job. Must've been all that money you gave him. All the money and power and apartment and car. I mean, he was willing to do anything for you. Why--why the hell'd you fire him?

EJ: Because William lacks the quality that I value most in an employee, Lucas. Loyalty.

Lucas: Loyalty? My son is loyal.

EJ: Well, you might want to ask him about that.

Melanie: Uh, hey, Gabi. It's Melanie. Give me a call back when you get this, okay, so I know you're okay.

Abigail: Has this creep ever stalked her or called her while she was with either one of you?

Melanie: No.

Chad: No, why would he? If he's watching her, he knows when we're around. You know, I just hope that she's, you know, not by herself tonight.

Melanie: Yeah, especially that headless doll thing.

Chad: Yeah.

Abigail: But she was all by herself when she found it, though, right?

Melanie: Yeah.

Chad: Uh, what--

Melanie: Right?

Chad: What are you getting at here?

Abigail: Look, I hate to say it, but is it possible that Gabi maybe put the doll outside of her own door?

Melanie: Well... with its head chopped off, though?

Chad: Okay, so let--let me get this straight. You think Gabi made up this stalker. Why? What would she do that?

Abigail: There's only one reason I can think of, Chad. You.

Will: I'm running late, but be careful.

Gabi: Of course. Hey, look, I got a little sidetracked, but I'm on my way.

Bo: DiMera only worked with the Feds 'cause he knew we were on to him.

Hope: Exactly.

John: Well, I hope he's enjoying his moment of glory.

Marlena: Why do you say it like that?

John: Old man's always got away with his crimes 'cause he trusts that we're not capable of being as cold-blooded and ruthless as he is. Gang, I think it's time to make a change.

Bo: I'm with you there.

Marlena: No, we don't have to behave like Stefano to bring him to justice. There are other ways to neutralize him.

John: [Sighs]

Marlena: But I'm afraid it's gonna have to wait. I've got a patient to see.

Bo: Okay.

John: See you, honey.

Marlena: Look, listen to me. Don't let him get to you. That's what he wants. Okay?

John: Mm.

Marlena: See you at home. Bye, everybody.

Hope: Uh, you know, I should really get going myself.

Bo: Yeah. I'll catch you later, bro.

Roman: Not so fast. The three of you stay.

[Phone ringing]

Stefano: Oh. Pronto. Ah, Signore Mateo. Have you found out anything more about the coin that was made for my father? [Exhales] Ah. Well, by all means, you keep looking, all right? Grazie. Ciao.

[Phone clatters on the table]

Nicole: You know, Daniel, there was a time when, uh... finding out I was pregnant with EJ's baby would've made me the happiest woman on this earth.

Daniel: No, I know what you've been through. I got that. I do.

Nicole: But I don't-- I don't think there is a greater pain than the loss of a child. And, uh... when I found out that I was pregnant again--[Laughs] Daniel, do you believe in God?

Daniel: Nic--Nic--

Nicole: I didn't-- I didn't either, but I have to. I have to, because how else would this miracle be possible? Right? But the trouble is, is that God likes to grant his miracles with a twist. He made the father the one person that I cannot have in my baby's life.

Daniel: I don't blame you for being afraid. I don't. But you can't--

Nicole: I'm not talking about myself. Tell me something. How--how is a baby supposed to defend itself against a family who thinks it's totally justifiable to tear him away from his mother's arms? I am not going to give EJ that chance. I am gonna protect my baby with everything I got.

Daniel: Okay. Okay. All right, all right, I want you to think about this, all right? And don't take it the wrong way. But isn't it possible that EJ's threats could just be rants of somebody whose dreams are just going up in smoke? He wanted a baby with you, Nicole.

Nicole: Well, he should've thought about that before he slept with Sami and lied about it.

Daniel: Okay. I'm--I'm not gonna try to make excuses for the guy. I'm not. But he is losing his sister. And whatever his faults are, whatever they are, losing a loved one, I-- [Sighs]

Nicole: She's, uh, probably the only one who loves him in spite of himself.

Daniel: I'm gonna-- let me put this another way. There's gonna be a time, months from now, there's gonna be a beautiful little baby. A baby who could have your incredible eyes and EJ's nose. Or EJ's smile and your... long legs.

Nicole: I see where you're going with this, Daniel.

Daniel: Okay, then stay with me, then, all right? Given that, isn't it possible-- come here, sit down. Now, look. Isn't it possible that-- I know you don't feel like it right now, right? You don't. But at some point, I mean, maybe over time, the two of you, you and EJ, you could kind of repair the damage between you. It's happened before.

Nicole: Mm-mm.

Daniel: I mean, don't you think that maybe the two of you could--I don't know, just be together? Especially for the sake of this child.

Nicole: Let me stop you right there, Daniel. Never.

Daniel: You mean, like, ev--

Nicole: Never.

Daniel: Okay.

EJ: It's all here. Proof... that the tunnel that you held Lexie in... contained the gases that are responsible for the tumor that is killing her.

Stefano: I'm afraid that... Alexandra already knows what I may or may not have to do with this whole horror.

Nicole: It's a lovely hypothetical, Daniel, that you've painted of me and EJ finding our way back to each other because of the baby, walking hand-in-hand into our own sweet sunset.

Daniel: Wow, was I really that sappy? That's just like, ugh.

Nicole: Yeah. It's okay. I know what you were trying to do. Look, and I'm really sorry, you know. I just--I don't-- I don't want you to get in trouble.

Daniel: Yeah, but you are trouble, Nic. I mean, that's a-- I mean, I know. I know you don't.

Nicole: I just really need you to know that there is no chance of me getting back together with EJ, not even for the sake of the baby.

Daniel: Okay.

Nicole: Okay?

Daniel: Okay.

Nicole: I've thought about this a lot. You have to know that. I mean, sleeping with Sami isn't the worst thing that EJ's ever done to me, sadly. But it is one insult too many. And it just sent me over the top, and I'm not ever going back, and I'm not ever going to give him the chance to hurt this baby in any way. Okay, I'm-- I end up going over and over and over this. I-I'm--I'm sorry. What about you? You know, what about you and Jennifer? I thought the two of you would be holding hands, walking into your own sunset.

Daniel: Yeah, well, it didn't work out that way, did it? No.

Nicole: I'm sorry.

Daniel: Nah, that's all right. Look, I didn't really handle it all that well anyway. I mean, my solution was to just, you know, skip town in hopes I could forget the mess I made of my life.

Nicole: Why did you come back?

Daniel: Wow, miss me, did ya? [Chuckles]

Nicole: I'm glad that you're back, I-I am.

Daniel: Nice save, nice save.

Nicole: But it was such a great idea to leave. I mean, you know, now that I have absolutely no chance of-- of keeping this baby from EJ, I-I'm going to do that. That's exactly what I'm going to do, you know that? Do you have any suggestions? Maybe where to go? Right? Maybe fly under EJ's radar, maybe--I know, maybe...[Gasps] We could go to some little island off the coast of Maine or somewhere exotic, like Bali. Would you like to go to Bali?

Daniel: Bali's really nice, actually. But it's a bad idea for you.

Nicole: Yeah, that's what Rafe said too, but that's really my only option. In fact, I'm wasting time talking to you, so I'm gonna go.

Daniel: What do you mean, wasting time talking to me? No, you're not leaving. You are not going anywhere.

Nicole: Oh, I'm not? Why?

Daniel: No. Nowhere.

Nicole: Why?

Daniel: Because the last thing you need right now is to be alone.

Marlena: Will?

Roman: All right. Look. I was outside that safe house when it blew up. I thought you all were dead. So nobody wants Stefano punished any more than I do.

Bo: That's debatable.

Roman: Well, what is not debatable here is, nobody is going rogue on this.

John: Roman... that makes us sitting ducks. We gotta play by the rules, and DiMera just makes his up as he goes along.

Hope: We have always fought him within the bounds of law, Roman. That's the problem.

Bo: There are the laws we are sworn to uphold. Then there are natural laws. An eye for an eye.

EJ: How dare you break her heart in her last days just so you could ease your conscience? You don't even have a conscience.

Stefano: I would've given anything in this world for her not to have found out.

EJ: Then how the hell did she find out?

Stefano: [Sighs] She heard Abraham and I arguing.

EJ: [Snorts] Wow. My poor sister. Just so you know, you may have disowned me, but she is still my sister. And that is something that you can never take away from me.

Stefano: She is the best part of me.

EJ: There is no best part of you. You're responsible for her death. And nothing you can say, nothing you can do is going to change that.

Abigail: I mean, don't you guys think it's a little bit weird that she's so insistent on not going to the police?

Melanie: Yes.

Chad: Uh...

Abigail: Seriously, ever since she found that doll outside her door, you have been more and more protective of her. Chad, she's living in your apartment.

Chad: Look, she can't stay by herself right now, all right? She knows I'm in love with Melanie. Look, you know what, Abby? I'm gonna go grab some more coffees, okay? Do you--do you want anything? Do you guys want anything? All right? Before we argue more about this. Okay, I'll be right back.

Abigail: Do you think I'm nuts? Look, Gabi and Chad were a couple before. So isn't it possible that Gabi still has feelings for him, and--and this is the only way she can think of to get him away from you?

Melanie: [Sighs] God. Honestly, I have no idea what to think. [Sighs]

[Footsteps approach]

Andrew: Boo.

Gabi: Oh, my-- Andrew, this is a scary neighborhood, okay?

Andrew: Chill. You're the one who asked me to meet you here, model girl.

Gabi: Okay, you know what you're supposed to do?

Andrew: I've been rehearsing all day. What do you think of my look?

Gabi: It's good. You don't look like a photographer's assistant.

Andrew: Yeah, well. You know, not that I mind the extra cash, but I wanted to, uh, ask you about this. Don't you think it might be a little extreme? I mean, you really think that the extra publicity is gonna get you back in front of the lens with Sami?

Gabi: I hope so.

Andrew: Showtime.

Gabi: Almost. Andrew, make this good. Make it real.

Daniel: I understand why you're feeling so desperate, which is exactly why this is the wrong time for you to leave.

Nicole: Do you think I want to leave? Do you really think I want to leave right now? Because I don't. Look, but I have everything to gain right now and nothing to lose, and I am so tired of sitting in my hotel room, wondering every night how I'm gonna battle EJ when he finds out about the results.

Daniel: Shh, okay, okay. Shh. Okay. Look, let me tell you a little something about sleepless nights, 'cause I've been there. All right? You're up. You can't think. You're looking for an answer. You're just hoping, praying, whatever you're doing to find an answer, and it just doesn't work. Maybe you can run away. I don't know. But for me, it didn't work. Because the demons, they're-- they weren't in Salem. They were inside of me. And the only way to lose them is you've gotta come home, and you've gotta face them. You gotta face your demons head-on.

Nicole: But it's different for you. You have your daughter. And your mother.

Daniel: You have me.

Marlena: Will. Will! You're soaked! Oh, my goodness.

Will: Hey.

Marlena: How about a cup of coffee with your favorite grandmother, huh? Oh, but don't tell Kate you feel that way, okay? No, do tell her.

Will: I wish I had time. I--

Marlena: Then you know what? Make time. Come on. Come on, you're soaked. Walk me in. Walk me in. Okay. Oh! [Giggles] Oh, my gosh. Honey, grab a table. Oh. Coffee, please, for my wet friend. Sweetie, how about right here? Come on. Oh, my gosh. Here, here, here. Dry yourself off. You are soaking, crazy wet. Like when you were small, in mud puddles. Hey. I'm eager to hear about how it's going with your mom.

Will: Can I call you tomorrow? Because there's something I need to do, actually.

Marlena: Do you have an urgent mission for EJ?

Will: Um...

Marlena: You know what? Look at this. Honey, if you can't tell me what it is, think what that means about this job you're doing.

Will: I don't work for EJ anymore.

Marlena: Oh. [Laughs] Wow, great. I didn't know you were quitting, though.

Will: I didn't quit. He fired me.

Marlena: What? Why?

Will: Because of Stefano.

Stefano: Ahh. There's been no such thing as peace ever since I found out how sick she was.

EJ: Is that supposed to make me feel sorry for you?

Stefano: No.

EJ: 'Cause nobody's suffering the way that she is suffering. She's leaving her husband behind. She's leaving her child behind. I hope you burn in hell for all eternity for what you've done to her.

Roman: That's exactly the kind of attitude I'm talking about here. Bo, how many times do we have to have this conversation? You can't take matters into your own hands and think you can get away with it.

John: Stefano does.

Roman: Fact one. His son is the mayor. Fact two. The mayor's our boss. Fact three. He could strip us of our jobs, put his cronies in place. What good does that do, and where does that leave us?

Bo: Roman, come on.

Roman: Look, listen to me. Don't you think I share your frustration? Don't you get that? But I got a job to do, okay? And I'm telling you all this. Anybody in this room starts operating outside the law, I gotta come after you. And I don't care if you're friend or family. And don't think I'll look the other way, 'cause I won't.

Hope: Why are we having this conversation?

Roman: Because it is pretty clear to me that, given the opportunity, all three of you in this room would just as soon kill Stefano with your own hands.

Marlena: Tell me about Stefano.

Will: Do you know why Rafe left Mom?

Marlena: Of course, I do.

Will: I'm the reason that he found out about her and EJ.

Marlena: Will, what does that mean? What does that mean?

Will: Stefano told me to make sure that Rafe found out. So I made sure he overheard me telling Sonny.

Marlena: Will. Will, look at me. Why would you do something that would hurt Rafe because Stefano told you to?

Will: He said he had-- I gotta go.

Marlena: No. No. You're going nowhere until you tell me what Stefano did to you.

EJ: Sort of ironic, isn't it, really when you think about it, that the most generous, loving person that I've ever known... is biologically related to you? Whereas me, somebody who is so much like you I can barely look at myself in the mirror, is no relation to you whatsoever.

Stefano: [Sighs] I agree with you. Alexandra is far better than either one of us.

EJ: You know, even in her last days, she's focused on other people. She wants us to find a way to make peace.

Stefano: Then what do you say we honor her wish, hmm? If we can. Go, before either one of us says something that we are going to regret.

EJ: I'm not leaving here... until I've done what I came to do.

Chad: [Sighs]

[Cell phone rings]

Chad: Oh. It's Gabi. Hello?

Gabi: Chad, it's me. I think I'm being followed again.

Chad: Where are you?

Gabi: I'm--I'm heading to the town square, but everything is closed, and the--and-- I don't know what to do!

Chad: Okay, I'll--I'll be right there.

Abigail: Again, maybe she should call the police.

Gabi: [Screaming]

Chad: Gabi?

Gabi: Oh, my God--

Chad: Hel--hello? Gabi. Hello? Hel-- she's not answering. Let's go.

Abigail: [Sighs]

Nicole: What do you mean, I have you? I--

Daniel: I-I just--I meant-- I meant I know what it's like to believe that you--you're with the right person, and you find out that you're not. I mean, you wake up in the morning, you throw your clothes on, and you manage to get through the day like, you know, everything's okay. Everything's fine. But in the end, you just-- you just dread the night time, because you're going home alone.

Nicole: Yeah.

Daniel: And, you know, you feel like you're the only person in the world who feels that way.

Nicole: But you're not.

Daniel: No. You're not.

Nicole: Um... w-what was that?

Daniel: Uh, you tell me.

Nicole: I-I-I, um-- I don't know. Um--

Daniel: Right, I'm sorry.

Gabi: No, please! [Screams] No! [Screams]

Chad: Hey! Hey! Get away from her! Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa!

Gabi: No, Chad, don't! Stop! No, he could hurt you!

Chad: He's gonna get away! What are you talking about, huh?

Melanie: Look, he might have a weapon or something. It's okay.

Chad: Okay, are you okay? You all right? Come here, come here. You all right?

Gabi: I think so, yeah. I heard footsteps, and then I called you, and I tried to get away. I tried to fight and scream, but he was so strong. I'm so glad you got here when you did.

Chad: Okay, it's all right. You're okay now. You're okay.

John: You know, since Doc's got a patient, I think I'll just go on home and sit on my thumbs and watch the ballgame.

Bo: Later, man.

John: Mm-hmm.

Hope: Bye, John. Hey, Brady, uh, what about you?

Bo: Hmm?

Hope: You gonna go watch the game too?

Bo: I don't know. Maybe. You know, I think I'll go over and say hi to mom first. You?

Hope: I-I have a ton of errands to run. I'll head over with you, though.

Bo: Okay.

Hope: Okay.

Marlena: How did Stefano make you do something you swore you never would?

Will: Because... I was afraid of what he would do to me if I said no. Why are you asking me this? You know better than anyone how evil he is.

Marlena: That's why you should've come to me. Look--look, if he's blackmailing you, tell me what he has on you.

Will: It doesn't matter. What matters... is that he is not going to get away with it.

Marlena: Will. Will. Will!

[Door slams]

EJ: You know, it really sickens me that Alexandra had to live out the last of her days knowing the ugly truth about you. You know the saddest thing? If you'd asked her for her forgiveness, I'm sure she would've gladly given it to you.

Stefano: She forgave me... with her eyes.

EJ: Did she really? Well, I'll tell you this. I'm not going to forgive you.

[Phone rings]

Daniel: Oh, it's-- hold on. Hello? Yeah, I'll, uh-- I'll bring them right down. Mm-hmm. Uh, that--that's the lab. They need me to bring the samples down.

Nicole: Okay.

Daniel: Listen, um, I'm-- I'm--I'm sorry.

Nicole: It--it's okay. It's okay.

Daniel: Look, I-I don't know what happened right there between us, but you have my word that whatever happens with you and EJ, however that goes down, you do not have to be alone. Okay?

Nicole: Yeah.

[Door slams]

Lucas: Whoa! Hey, man. I've been--hey. What are you doing? What are you packing?

Will: [Laughs uncomfortably]

Lucas: What the hell are you doing with that?

Roman: Hey. [Chuckles]

Marlena: Oh, hi there.

Roman: Looking for me?

Marlena: Uh, no, I was, uh-- I was looking for John. I thought he might've stayed here for a few minutes. He's not at home.

Roman: No, they all took off right after my lecture.

Marlena: [Laughing] Oh.

Roman: But I'm glad you came back, because since you're here, I can give you the, uh, short version of it.

Marlena: Oh. All right.

Roman: Don't take matters into your own hands, Doc. I don't care how much you want to.

Marlena: We're not children, you know.

Roman: No. But like children, you could get so angry and frustrated that you act without thinking about the consequences. Your family needs you.

Marlena: Especially Will.

Roman: Why? What happened?

Marlena: Nothing I want to talk about. Look, don't worry about me, okay? I will always be here for my family.

Roman: I hope so. Okay, I gotta return a phone call.

Marlena: Okay, I'll just let myself out.

Bo: Sure you don't want to come in and say hi to mom?

Hope: Give her a big hug and kiss for me. I have a ton of errands to run. I'll see you later, okay?

Bo: You got it. You mean everything to me, Fancy Face.

Hope: Right back at you, Brady.

Bo: Okay. [Clears throat]

EJ: You didn't deserve Alexandra's forgiveness, and you're not going to get it from anybody else.

Stefano: Hers is all I need.

EJ: It's too bad you're not going to be able to enjoy it for very long.

Stefano: Is that some kind of a threat?

EJ: You took away from me the woman that I loved.

Stefano: Ah, yes. Small William with the big mouth.

EJ: [Chuckles] It's nothing compared to what you did to Lexie. Oh, I'm stepping up to defend the only family that I've ever known. I'm not going to let you do to Theo and Chad what you did to me and Lexie.

Stefano: And how do you intend to protect these people that you're not even related to?

EJ: It's an excellent question. I could only come up with one solution.
