Sami: I just need a second before we go back in there. Why did my dad want to meet us here anyway? Oh, God, just...

Lucas: Well, if you want, we can go home instead. Do you wanna do that?

Sami: If we go home, we have to tell the kids, and I don't know how to do that. I don't know how to tell them that their grandmother is dead, that so many family members that they love are gone.

Lucas: I will help you. I will help you the best way I can.

Sami: Lucas, do you think anybody believed me today?

Lucas: What do you mean?

Sami: You know, what I said earlier about my Mom. I can't even count how many times I've told her I hated her.

Lucas: I know, I know.

Sami: But I didn't. I loved her. I loved her so much, and I never got to tell her that. And now she's gone.

Lucas: It's all right.

John: What's going on in there?

Marlena: I was thinking about our family. How they're mourning us, and they have no idea that we're alive.

John: I know. I hate it too, but we had to do it. We have to convince Stefano that we are dead. Now, we're gonna get the evidence we need to put him away, and when that happens, he's never gonna mess with us ever again.

Marlena: Thank you. [Crying]

Nicole: That was a beautiful service.

Brady: It was. I just thought the next time that I'd be in St. Luke's would be to talk to Father Tim about our wedding.

Madison: Brady, we don't have to worry about that now. We'll just take as long as you need.

Brady: Yeah. I was gonna ask my dad to be my best man.

Doug: The one blessing in this whole tragedy is that Ciara is away with Caroline. But, dear God, when they get home, how are we gonna tell them?

Kayla: I don't know. At least we have all these guys in our heart, huh?

Roman: Good, thanks. All right, I just got word that Stefano was spotted outside the pub while the wake was in progress.

Shane: In other words, he's taken the bait.

Bo: Any sign of him at the memorial?

Roman: No.

Marlena: So our families went through all this for nothing?

Roman: No, no. Not nothing, Marlena. Stefano may not have been there, but I guarantee you his spies were. He has spies everywhere.

John: Yeah, even in the I.S.A.

Shane: If he had even the slightest notion their grief wasn't genuine--

Bo: This little charade of ours would be over.

Roman: Well, we were able to reach Belle and Shawn. They are quietly contacting the out-of-town family to let them know the truth. This doesn't go any further than it has to.

Hope: Thank God your mom took Ciara out of town. I mean, thank God they never had to believe for a second that--

Shane: By the time they get home, you'll be waiting for them.

Carrie: We hope so.

Shane: Oh, and, uh, Roman and I told Abe and Lexie the truth.

Roman: Yeah, they weren't at the memorial or the wake.

Marlena: I'm glad. That might've been just too much for Lexie.

Roman: Okay, it is now time to implement phase two of our plan. Are you ready, Shane?

Shane: I am indeed.

Roman: Okay, let's go. All right, we'll catch you all later.

Rafe: Hi. Thinking about Austin?

Carrie: I just feel horrible about all of this.

Rafe: Yeah. He loves you very much. Listen, I just think you have to do what feels right, what's in your heart.

Carrie: I know. I-I kept--I kept trying to make my marriage work, but my heart was--it is--with you. I'm so glad that we decided to be together.

Hope: Hey. We're gonna be out of here soon.

Bo: Yeah, not soon enough for me. If I get my hands on DiMera, I'll rip his damn throat out.

Hope: Hey, hey, Brady. He dug his own grave this time. He thinks he got rid of us for good. But little does he realize, he's given us the best chance we've ever had to nail him.

Carrie: I hope our decision to be together won't cause problems for Nicole.

Rafe: It won't. Listen, just because I'm protecting her and her baby from EJ, that does not mean it's gonna come between us, okay?

John: Hey, Rafe. We need to go over phase two of our plan. Let's go.

Rafe: Yeah, of course. Phase two.

Marlena: Well, seems like you and Rafe had a lot to talk about.

Carrie: I have something I wanna tell you. Rafe and I decided to be together.

Marlena: Wow. I thought you and Austin were gonna try to work on your marriage.

Carrie: I kept trying to make it work, but the whole time, my heart was with Rafe. I can't pretend anymore.

Marlena: Well, I'm sure you've thought about this a great deal.

Carrie: I have. And I was--I was scared to tell you because I didn't--I didn't want you to judge me.

Marlena: I'd never judge you. God, I was in the same situation when your father and I decided to separate and I ended up with John. You know this will send shock waves through our family. But whatever you decide to do, I will never, ever judge you.

Carrie: Thank you.

Marlena: I can tell you for sure that this will be a very rocky road for you and Rafe.

Austin: It's just that it wasn't long ago that I thought I lost Carrie to Rafe, and it just hit home to me how much I was in love with her. And then she decided to give our marriage a second chance, right? And I-I-I was determined--I was determined to make it count, Billie.

Billie: And you did. I saw how determined you were.

Austin: I just can't stop thinking...

Billie: What?

Austin: I was just a lot more committed to our marriage than she was.

Billie: Oh, come on, Austin.

Austin: No.

Billie: Stop it.

Austin: Billie, you know what my reoccurring thought is?

Billie: What?

Austin: She died with Rafe. I mean, I'm supposed to have children...with her. Why was she there? Tell me, Billie, why was she there? Why was she there?

Billie: I'm afraid that, that answer died with Carrie and Rafe. I'm sorry.

Sami: Gabi, um... I know my marriage to Rafe didn't work out, but I loved him. He was an amazing man. I'm so sorry.

Gabi: Thank you for saying that. Everybody loved him. He's--he was the best. Excuse me.

Sami: Hey, Will? I know how hard this must be for you. How hard it is for all of us to have lost so many people that we love. I know how close you were to my mom. But we're a family, and I think we could really help each other through this mourning if we could--if we could be together as a family and, I think that that's what my mom would want.

Will: Right now, the only thing I can think about is that I just lost six people that I love.

Lucas: Son, your mom and I were just trying to give you some support right now.

Sami: I just don't wanna lose him. I don't wanna make the same mistakes with will that I did with my whole family. I... I just can't lose him too.

Lucas: You're not gonna lose him. You won't.

Sami: I'm gonna be different. Lucas, I swear to you. I know--I know I have said it a thousand times, but this time, I am serious. I am not gonna be selfish. I am not gonna make scenes. And my mom may not be here--she may not be here to see it, but she is gonna be proud of me. I'm gonna make her proud of me.

Lucas: Shh.

Nicole: Thank you, um, for taking me to the service. Look, I know you're busy, so if you have to go to the hospital, I'm--I'm fine.

Daniel: Are you?

Nicole: Uh, physically. I'm just heartsick about Rafe after everything that he's done for me.

Daniel: Yeah, um... now that he's, uh, gone, you do know that it's gonna be harder to keep EJ away.

Nicole: Yeah, that thought has crossed my mind.

Daniel: Well, I also want you to know, I will do whatever it takes to help you in any way that I can.

Nicole: Thank you, Daniel. I appreciate that. But, um, I realize now that the only thing I can do to keep EJ away from my baby--away from my baby, is to just disappear.

Daniel: Well, how you--how you gonna do that? You're just gonna live life on the run like that? How is that a good idea for you and the baby? I'm not getting that.

Nicole: It's my only option.

Daniel: Well, no, it is not your only option.

Nicole: It is my only option to prevent my baby from becoming a DiMera. Stefano has already proved that he is a cold-blooded killer, and I do not want my baby anywhere in that world ever.

Daniel: Hey, hey, do not-- hey, hey, do not get yourself worked up. Breathe. Come on, do it. Breathe. There you go.

Nicole: I'm sorry. I'm sor--I'm sorry. You're right, okay? I-I will do anything to protect my little sweet pea, I will. Because this baby is the only thing I have left, Daniel.

Brady: I know you have a conference call in a couple minutes, so why don't you go ahead and go?

Madison: No, no, I don't wanna leave you at a time like this. Come on.

Brady: I'm--I'm--I'm fine. I'm not alone. I--there's plenty of people here, and I think Roman's coming by. He's gonna brief us on the investigation into the explosion anyway. I wanna hear that. So it's okay, you can go.

Madison: Are you sure? I mean, only if you're sure.

Brady: I'm sure. It's okay.

Madison: All right, well, I'm coming right back as soon as I'm done, okay?

Brady: All right. Thanks.

Sami: I just want you to know, I-I just don't know what to say.

Julie: Well, at least I know Hope perished doing something she believed in.

Doug: Yeah, but still, somehow you never expect anything like this to happen.

Bo: Hey, John. What do you think is the best way we handle that scum Harmon?

John: I say we bring back the tradition of hanging traitors in a public square.

Hope: Oh, well, as satisfying as that sounds, there's still no telling what he knows about Stefano's operations.

John: So what are you saying we do? We arrest him, and then we what? We sit him down and interrogate him?

Rafe: Well, he might be the key to breaking this case wide open.

John: Come on, Rafe, you can't trust a damn thing Harmon says.

Hope: Still, now that we know that about him, maybe we can use that to our advantage.

Bo: Yeah, we could have Shane feed him information, which he will obviously share with his boss. We could have that weasel manipulate Stefano into doing exactly what we want.

Billie: Austin, would you please stop torturing yourself about why Carrie was in the safe house with Rafe? Her family was there.

[Phone ringing]

Austin: Yeah, I know.

Billie: What? Listen, I've got to leave. But are you gonna be okay? You won't go and try to strangle Stefano, will you? Promise me.

Austin: If I decide to do that, I'll text you first. Deal?

Billie: Ha, ha.

Austin: Ha, ha. Besides, Roman's coming here, and he wants to talk to us, so I'm good.

Billie: Okay. All right, I love you. I'll call you later.

Austin: I love you.

Gabi: Yeah, I still haven't been able to get in touch with any of my family. I can't believe I'm going through this nightmare alone right now.

Will: You're not alone.

Gabi: Thanks for saying that.

Will: Gabi, I, um... if there's anything, you know-- whatever Rafe would've done for you, uh, I'll do it.

Roman: All right. First of all, thank you for waiting here. I have something very important to share with you.

Brady: Tell me it's that we're gonna nail Stefano for murder.

Roman: Unfortunately, not yet. But what I have to share with you is even better. Doug, Julie, Kayla, I need to speak with you alone. The rest of you, I need for you to move quickly and quietly to the rear of the pub. There's a beer truck out there. I want you to get in the back.

Sami: Dad, what is this all about?

Roman: Sami, no questions. Just do what I tell you right now.

Harmon: How you holding up, Agent Donovan? As close as you've been to the Brady family, I can't imagine it was easy for you to be at the memorial.

Shane: Bo, Hope, John, and Marlena, they were family to me. I hate to admit this, but with their deaths, the I.S.A. has suffered a crippling blow in its efforts to bring down Stefano DiMera.

Roman: All right, all right, everybody. All right, settle down. Uh, you ready? I want you to take your blindfolds off.

Brady: What? What the...

Marlena: You're not dreaming this.

Sami: Mom, is that really you? Oh, my God.

Brady: Dad.

John: I'm still kicking.

[General chatter]

Gabi: Don't ever do that to me ever again.

Austin: I thought I lost you. I thought I lost you.

Will: Oh, my... never, never do that to me again. Never do that to me again.

Marlena: Oh! Oh, my dear boy. Oh.

Julie: I feel like--I feel like I should be pinching myself.

Doug: It's a miracle. Really, I mean, even Roman figured that they all died from that bomb blast when it went off. A trapdoor. I mean, how lucky can you get?

Kayla: I don't know.

Julie: [Laughing]

Kayla: To nine lives.

Julie: Yes.

Kayla: And more.

Julie: And more.

[Laughing]

Julie: My God.

Lucas: Oh, I cannot believe you.

[General chatter]

Roman: All right, all right. All you happy people. Happy people, listen up, I need your attention, okay? First of all, I don't think I've ever seen so much joy in one place. But I am sure you are all very confused about everything that happened.

Nicole: "Confused" doesn't really describe it.

Roman: Well, I'm gonna clear that up. Our friends here were forced into hiding by Stefano DiMera. He was responsible for rigging the house to blow up. The explosion was real.

John: Fortunately, we got to safety with seconds to spare.

Hope: It was pure luck we found that trapdoor. It saved our lives.

Marlena: We never meant to cause you a moment's pain. Not a moment, not a moment.

John: But it was necessary. In order to bring DiMera down for good, we need the upper hand.

Bo: Your grieving for us? It has convinced Stefano that we are dead.

Hope: We can operate behind the scenes, get the evidence we need to nail this bastard.

John: Which means it is critical that all of you continue to pretend that we're dead, so we can operate underground.

Bo: Everything we're doing here--everything we're doing-- hinges on the fact that you keep this secret.

Marlena: My dear boy. Oh.

Rafe: Hey.

Nicole: Hi.

Both: [Chuckling]

Rafe: So? Aww... how we doing?

Nicole: I'm much better now.

Rafe: Well, that's good. I'm sorry. I'm really sorry. I'm sure the last thing that you need right now is this stress. It doesn't really help, does it?

Nicole: No, I-I was stressed, yeah, but I'm fine now because Daniel was there for me.

Rafe: Oh, well, that's good. I'm glad to hear that.

Nicole: Yeah, I mean, I just can't--I just really can't believe that you're alive right now, you know? Not--not just--not just because you're the only one standing in between EJ and the baby, but because I actually care about you.

Rafe: Okay.

Sami: Well, I mean, I should say that a part of me is really glad that you two are okay, and everyone is okay. But another part of me thinks... I can't believe you let us go through with that. I can't believe you put us through thinking you were dead.

Rafe: Right, okay. Well, for the part that's glad that I'm okay, thank you.

Sami: I mean, was that your idea, Rafe? I can't believe that you would've thought of something like that. It's unbelievably selfish to--to torture us like that. I mean, we were mourning, and-- and weeping.

Rafe: Sami, Sami. Stefano tried to kill us, so we put this plan together to protect our families, okay? Do you see how that works there?

Sami: No, I don't.

Rafe: Okay, then, I'm sorry. I don't know what you want me to say.

Shane: The loss of John, Bo, and Hope severely undermines the I.S.A. efforts to get Stefano DiMera.

Harmon: Why? Don't you have the information we need to move forward?

Shane: I was on my way to debrief in the safe house just before the explosion happened. I'm afraid all the information they had on Stefano died with them in that explosion.

Harmon: I didn't realize that.

Shane: So essentially we're having to start again from scratch. Only this time, Agent Harmon, I'd like you to be at the center of our investigation. Can I count on you?

Harmon: It would be my honor.

Shane: Good man.

Rafe: Okay, uh, listen, before Sami interrupted us, there was something that I wanted to tell you also.

Nicole: Okay. Yeah?

Rafe: I care about you too. Which also makes this a lot harder to say. Um...

Nicole: Oh, God. What? What?

Rafe: Calm down. You know I'm here for you, okay?

Nicole: Yeah.

Rafe: We are in this together. I wanna protect you and the baby from EJ. You know that, right?

Nicole: Yes.

Rafe: Okay. But, um, when I thought that we were gonna die, I told Carrie the truth about the baby.

Nicole: Oh, oh, okay, um... yeah, of course. Sure, I under--I understand. I mean, I just--I just hope that she doesn't tell anyone our secret.

Rafe: No, no, no, she's not gonna say anything.

Nicole: Okay.

Rafe: Hey, and besides that, everyone thinks we're dead, so...

Nicole: [Chuckling]

Rafe: Buys you some time, right?

Nicole: Right.

Rafe: Right.

Nicole: So you love her? Lucky girl.

Rafe: Listen, hey. You know I'm here for you.

Nicole: Mm-hmm.

Rafe: I'm here for you. I'm gonna protect you and that baby from EJ, okay?

Nicole: [Chuckling] Yeah. I mean, heck, ten minutes ago, I thought you were dead, so things are really looking up now. Oh, God, you know what? I'm sorry, um...

Rafe: No.

Nicole: I really, I-I... I really do need to thank you. I need to thank you for making me believe that there are really good guys out there, and that maybe I... sorry. And that maybe I will fall in love with one. I'm okay, I'm okay, I'm okay. I'm good. Mm-hmm.

Rafe: All right.

Carrie: I'm sorry that we put you through that.

Austin: No, but I--but I understand now. I understand that it was to get Stefano. When I think of what he did, when I think of how close you all got to dying--

Carrie: I know.

Austin: Carrie.

Carrie: I know, it was crazy.

Austin: But what I--I don't-- I don't understand--what I don't understand is--is--is Bo, Hope, John, and Marlena, they had to be in this safe house. And once--once you helped your father get everyone settled, Carrie, you knew how dangerous it was. Why did you stay?

Carrie: I know that I stayed at the safe house longer than I-I should've, but I planned to leave.

Austin: I can't believe I was torturing myself. I was torturing myself thinking that the reason that you were staying here was because... because of Rafe. But none of that matters anymore. The only thing that matters is that you're alive, and I-I-I don't want you to explain anything to me, Carrie, because I'm just grateful--I'm just grateful to have you back.

Brady: There's, uh--there's something I've got to ask you.

John: Yeah? What is it?

Brady: When all this is done, when all this is over, will you be my best man at my wedding?

John: Oh, kid, nothing would make me prouder. [Chuckling] My boy's getting married.

Brady: He is [Chuckling].

Marlena: I am so sorry we put you through this.

Will: It's okay. It was hard to think I lost everybody, but especially you. 'Cause you're more than just my Grandma, you know? You're my shrink.

Marlena: [Laughing]

Will: And I need my shrink.

Both: [Laughing]

John: Now remember, everyone, it is crucial that you continue to grieve. Make it real.

Sami: Are you serious? It is real. We thought they were really dead. I thought my sister and my mother and--and--and Rafe, I thought they were really dead. It wasn't just some act for your convenience.

Marlena: We understand that, Sami.

Sami: Really? Do you understand that I almost told my kids? That I almost put your grandchildren through this? That I--that we were really heartbroken thinking that you were dead? How could you think it was okay to do that to all of us?

Marlena: We hated doing that. It was necessary until the memorial service.

Sami: So there's a justification. There's always a reason that it is okay for you to hurt us.

Lucas: You stop. You said you were gonna be nice. Don't do this right now.

Sami: I think I am perfectly justified in being upset about how this happened. I am not going to apologize.

Lucas: Six people almost died, Sami. It was a nightmare for everybody. Relax.

Sami: I'm not gonna relax, Lucas. They should've gone home to their families. They should've told the people that they love that they were okay. And now they tell us they want us to--to fake it all while they are sitting here cozy and comfortable eating pie?

Carrie: Sami, come on. You're being ridiculous. Stop it.

Sami: Well, I know how comfortable you are with Rafe, Carrie.

Roman: Okay, Sami. Sami, that's enough. All right, time to wrap this up. Everybody say their good-byes. Let's go. Come on.

Carrie: I'm sorry that she said that.

Austin: No, no, no. No, no, no, it's not your fault.

Carrie: I'm --I hope she didn't upset you.

Austin: No, look, I understand that it hasn't been... it hasn't been exactly fun and games here. I get it. But listen, Carrie, why do you have to stay here now? Maybe I could arrange it with Roman--maybe I could arrange it with Roman to take you back to Switzerland for a while. That way, we would disappear.

Carrie: Well, we--we--we can't risk, you know, Stefano finding out, and we--this is how it has to be for now.

Austin: It's gonna be hard to let you go again.

Carrie: I know.

Austin: Okay. But you remember that I'll be-- I'll be waiting for you out there.

Carrie: Oh, Austin, I have to--I have to tell you something, okay?

Roman: Carrie? Time for Austin to leave. Let's go.

Austin: Well, look--

Roman: Austin.

Austin: Okay. We're gonna have plenty of time to talk when you come back to me. I miss you, and I love you.

Billie: Shane. Listen, I didn't have a chance to offer my condolences the other day, and I just wanted to say I'm really sorry.

Shane: Actually, they're all alive. I'll explain later.

Billie: Do they know I'm working with the I.S.A.?

Shane: No, not yet.

Billie: Let me know if there's anything I can do.

Shane: Thanks. Thank you.

Daniel: Did I, uh, just interrupt something?

Billie: Shane and I were just sharing some memories about Bo.

Daniel: I'm sorry, Billie, I know you must be going through hell.

Billie: It's just--it's really hard imagining that--that Bo's really gone.

Daniel: Yeah. Well, if you need someone to talk to or lean on...

Billie: Thank you. I really appreciate that.

Daniel: Would you like a cup of coffee?

Billie: You know what? I would love one.

Daniel: All right.

Brady: Hey.

Madison: Hi, Brady. I've been looking everywhere for you.

Brady: I-I just--I needed to walk and clear my head. I didn't know you'd be done with your call so quickly.

Madison: Yeah, I cut it short. I-I was worried about you.

Brady: I'm okay.

Madison: Honey, your dad just died. I wanna be strong for you.

Brady: I just--I just wish...

Madison: What?

Brady: I just wanna hold you.

Doug: And you saw them all up close?

Julie: And--and they're all right? No one was hurt at all in that explosion?

Lucas: No, everyone's absolutely fine. It's crazy.

Julie: Oh, thank God. Oh!

Austin: Yeah, and they can't wait to get home.

Kayla: Well, where's Roman?

Sami: He went to talk to, uh, Victor and Maggie, right?

Julie: Good, good. Well, maybe they can put a stop to starting World War III with the DiMeras.

Kayla: Yeah. Champagne?

Sami: No, I'm not in the mood.

Julie: Oh, Sami, it's gonna be okay.

Austin: What a day, huh?

Sami: Yeah, totally. Hey, so, Austin, have you, um, talked to Carrie? Did you ask her why she was there?

Austin: Yeah. Yeah, I did. She just said that she was there to help, and she was at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Sami: Oh, come on, Austin. You don't really believe that, do you?

Rafe: Well, Austin sure looked happy to see you.

Carrie: I hate this emotional rollercoaster that we're putting them through.

Rafe: Come on. It's not your fault.

Carrie: Yeah, it is.

Rafe: What?

Carrie: I just--I keep thinking about how awful it's going to be when I break his heart.

Rafe: Are you sure you still wanna do this?

Carrie: Maybe it is selfish of me to put a life with you ahead of what Austin needs, but I need you, Rafe, and Austin's such a good guy, he deserves someone who loves him completely.

Rafe: Okay.

Carrie: I mean, he'll find someone new, right? Just like we did.

Rafe: Listen, I just don't want you to have any regrets, okay?

Marlena: Shane and Roman are on the way over. They wanna talk about the next step.

Rafe: Sure. Good.

Lucas: Come on, Sami. Come on, don't do that.

Austin: Carrie and Rafe were there together to set up the safe house, and that's it.

Sami: And now they're stuck together in a new safe house, and you cannot be feeling great about that.

Austin: Sami, she and I are committed to our marriage, and as far as I know, I haven't seen anything to refute that, okay? And not that it's anybody else's business.

Sami: Austin, don't be a fool.

Bo: Okay, now that Stefano thinks we're dead, we got to gather the evidence to put him away.

Carrie: We might just have enough evidence to do that. If we could get Agent Harmon to testify that Stefano--

Rafe: Carrie, Carrie. Carrie, the guy's a liar and a traitor. Now Stefano's attorney's gonna have a field day with that guy in court.

Shane: Well, at least Harmon now believes the I.S.A.'s in total disarray because of your deaths.

Hope: Good. That will give Stefano false confidence.

Marlena: Shane, is there any evidence to connect Stefano to the embezzlement of the Basic Black pension funds?

Shane: We have an agent working on that right now, but so far, I'm afraid there's no hard evidence.

Roman: John, what's wrong?

John: Why did I ever think this was gonna work?

Marlena: Why do you say that?

John: It's been two days, folks. Two whole days, and what do we have to show for it? Nothing.

Hope: John, we've got to be patient.

John: Patient? I have been patient most of my life. You know, it doesn't matter what kind of evidence we gather here, or what kind of a case we build. DiMera will just pay off the judge or the jury, and he'll walk free like he always does.

Bo: Okay, okay. So what do you suggest we do? Because we're not giving up.

Marlena: John, where is this coming from?

John: I'm sick of taking it, Doc. He has threatened all of us for as long as I can remember. That explosion? That's the final straw for me. Now there's only one way to stop this man, and I think you all know what it is. All of us, everyone we care about, will never be out of danger until that son of a bitch is dead.
