Sami: EJ, what are we doing here?

EJ: You like it?

Sami: Well, yeah. I mean... it's great. Whose apartment is this, anyway?

EJ: As of this moment... it's yours.

Rafe: Nicole, hey.

Nicole: Nothing yet, and if I'm lucky, nothing will, although I'm hardly ever lucky.

Rafe: Why did you call me? You feeling okay?

Nicole: No, I'm good. I'm good. It's-- good enough to leave town, but I'm gonna need your help to do it.

Chad: [Sighs]

Caroline: Well, what can I get you two beautiful people? A wind machine? Oh, backlighting?

Gabi: [Laughs] I'll have a glass of water, please.

Chad: Um, coffee for me, please, thank you.

Caroline: Good grief, you're eating like supermodels too, aren't you? [Chuckles]

Melanie: [Laughing] But you're saying that with a full head of hair.

Abigail: Yeah, it was pretty humiliating.

Stefano: Before we begin, let me say that it's been quite a while since your last visit.

Lucas: Come on. Sami's phone went right to voicemail. No one's answering her home line. I'm starting to get worried about her.

Caroline: Me too.

Kayla: Why?

Caroline: Well, when I looked out the window, I saw Sami sitting there. She was very depressed. And she looked like she was feeling sorry for herself.

Lucas: Yeah, when she does that, she usually does something stupid thinking it'll make herself feel better.

Caroline: Exactly.

Kayla: Well, are you saying you saw her do something stupid?

Caroline: Well--[Scoffs] All I said--I came in to sign something, and then when I looked out the window I saw her leave with EJ.

Sami: What do you mean this place is mine?

EJ: I mean it's yours, Samantha. It's your to enjoy with the children when you move out of Rafe's loft.

Sami: But it's-- it's so--

EJ: Fabulous? Yes, thank you, it is. Uh, the furniture is included.

Sami: Oh, my God.

EJ: Mmm, oh, I forgot to tell you, you have a wonderful view of the Horton Town Square out here. You can hang around Salem's smart set. Uh.

Sami: I didn't know Salem had one.

EJ: There's state-of-the-art security, Samantha. State-of-the-art, and every single amenity you could possibly need. I know that because I own the building.

Sami: [Sighing laugh] Thank you. Thank you, EJ, but I cannot let you do this.

EJ: So what are you going to do, hmm? Samantha, pride goeth before a cardboard box in hobo town, darling.

Sami: EJ, I'm not gonna just forget the fact that you're the reason that my marriage to Rafe split up. I mean, I'm not gonna let you buy me.

EJ: I'm not buying you, Samantha.

Sami: Well--

EJ: Please, will you stop being proud and start being practical? What are your other options, hmm? You hate your mother, the pub's full.

Sami: Yeah, well--

EJ: If you think that I'm letting you raise my children out of the back of a car, you are mistaken.

Sami: [Scoffs]

EJ: Lucas will take Allie, and Johnny and Sydney will have to come live in the mansion with me.

Rafe: What are you talking about? You're not leaving town. You almost landed yourself in the hospital a couple of days ago, you just need to just relax, take it easy, and rest.

Nicole: How can I relax when EJ is that father of this baby? I can't let him know I'm pregnant, Rafe, I--

Rafe: Nicole, Nicole, would you stop worrying? You've got a while before you start showing, and Daniel and I, we're the only ones who know the whole story. We're not gonna say anything.

Nicole: Are you kidding? EJ's gonna find out. He always finds out. And when EJ gets wind that this kid is his, he's gonna do everything "DiMera" he can to take it away from me, and you know it's true.

Rafe: Well.

Nicole: I can't let that happen. I have to go someplace where he will never find me. Somewhere where I'm not afraid and the baby will be safe, and I'm--[Sighs] I'm sorry, Rafe, but... you're the only one who can help me do it.

John: Let's go.

Hope: Actually, John... I think we should hear what Stefano has to say. This favor he wants us to do must be rather important to him, or we'd still be wherever it was we were. Yes?

Stefano: Smart and beautiful. And correct. Now, this favor I'm asking of you is, uh, a little large.

Hope: And this rather large favor, is there something in it for all of us?

John: All right. You tell us about the favor first and then...We'll talk about our cut.

Stefano: It concerns my collection of designer eggs from the Czarist Russia.

Hope: Yes, they were quite exquisite.

Stefano: Mm-hmm. And there was a certain one-of-a-kind egg that was supposed to complete my collection. Now, it was held in a public place and it was under very tight security... until you stole it.

Hope: Did we?

John: No, I don't think we did. Sorry. Let's go.

Stefano: I know you have my egg.

Hope: [Laughs]

John: [Chuckles]

Hope: Now that is a sentence you do not hear every day.

Stefano: You stole it and you hid it. You were gonna use it to fund your escape from me.

John: Well, now, if that were true, we wouldn't be here, would we?

Hope: No, we most certainly would not. We would be on a beach in a nice country with a glass of champagne.

Stefano: This is not a debate! You either tell me where you have it hidden, or else.

John: Or else what?

Stefano: The same way that I brought you back, I can make you disappear. Boom! Gone forever.

Lucas: Sami left with EJ?

Caroline: Yeah.

Lucas: Do you know where they went?

Caroline: Well, as I said, I just happened to look out the window, and I saw them leave together.

Lucas: You know what? Um, Sami told me earlier something about Allie's parent-teacher conference. I'm she's just talking to EJ about Johnny's. I'm sure they'll be back soon.

Caroline: Oh, maybe you're right. Excuse me.

Lucas: [Clears throat]

Kayla: A parent-teacher conference? You can't really believe that that's what Sami is doing with EJ.

Lucas: No, of course not. I just didn't want to upset Caroline.

Kayla: Well, what do you think's really going on?

Lucas: I don't know. I don't know, but Sami being Sami, she never learns from her mistakes, or sees the next one coming. I know that because I used to be exactly the same way, and if EJ's involved... look out.

Sami: [Sighs] This is all Kate's idea, isn't it?

EJ: Oh, that mommy dearest? No.

Sami: She did this. She did it because she's gonna get me thrown in prison, then she can take my kids away from me.

EJ: [Sighs]

Sami: Lucas gets Allie, but she'll convince him to let Allie stay with her...

EJ: Samantha.

Sami: And you get the other two kids, which means all three of them are gonna end up under her roof. She is relentless! You know, I can't believe I actually liked her for, like, five seconds.

EJ: Samantha.

Sami: Okay, sorry. What?

EJ: You're not going to be wearing a jailhouse jumpsuit.

Sami: You don't know that.

EJ: I do know that, because I spoke to Kate and I told her not to press charges against you.

Sami: Oh, was it that easy? She went along with it because she was charmed by your accent? I don't think so. She's been waiting for something criminal to use against me for years. So have you, for that matter.

EJ: Okay, Samantha, you are the mother of my children. I gave you custody of them, because despite your many failings, you are a wonderful mother.

Sami: Thank you. I think.

EJ: I want Johnny and Sydney to grow up in a safe, happy house with their mother, okay? And Kate knows that when I want something, I get it.

Sami: That's code for you have something on her, something that you threatened her with that made her go along with this.

EJ: [Chuckles] I do not have anything on Kate.

Sami: Oh, stop it. Just tell me what it is. Tell me what it is, so that I can use it to muzzle that bitch once and for all.

Rafe: Why do you need me to help you leave town?

Nicole: Because... you worked for the FBI, you can get people into witness protection, and I need a chance to start over without looking over my shoulder for EJ. Please, Rafe, you-- please help me do this.

Rafe: [Sighs] I can't. I can't do it.

Abigail: I don't believe it.

Melanie: Yeah, well, he's a super-hot model now, so all the ladies want him.

Abigail: Mel, when Chad and I were together, I thought that he was hooking up with you behind my back, remember? Only I was wrong. Chad was still totally honorable even after we broke up. This isn't like him, he wouldn't do that.

Melanie: Yeah. I found an earring in his bed.

Melanie: I know, so unless it walked in there on its own--

Gabi: Okay, get real, Chad. I mean, Melanie has to know you're not the kind of guy who cheats.

Chad: Well, that was before she found an earring in my bed. And the twist? It wasn't hers.

Gabi: Oh, my God. I mean... do you have any idea how it got there?

Chad: No. And I mean, that's the truth.

Gabi: I believe you.

Chad: Yeah, well, Melanie didn't.

Gabi: Oh.

Chad: Why, what is it?

Gabi: You know, I hate--I hate to say this, because I care about both you and Melanie.

Chad: I know Melanie loves me. And I don't blame her for thinking the worst. It's just I--I-- I can't think of one logical explanation for how that earring got in my bed. So for tomorrow night, where would you like to go? Chez Rouge or Buddy's Burger Barn. Are--are you kidding me?

Gabi: Do you--do you have any idea who it belongs to?

Chad: No, no. I think I might have seen it before though.

Gabi: Uh, let me see it. Oh, my God. Chad, this is my earring.

John: You're saying that if Gina and I don't cough up your trinket, you're gonna wipe out our memories and make sure we never come back again?

Stefano: Precisely.

Hope: Now, now. [Clicks tongue] That would be self-defeating, would it not, Stefi?

John: You wipe out our memories, you're never gonna get your egg. Because you won't know where we hid it.

Stefano: If you don't do what I say, the last time you were together will be the last time you were together.

[Phone rings]

Melanie: Oh, he's calling me.

Abigail: Answer it.

Melanie: I don't want to.

Abigail: Melanie, give him a chance to explain himself.

[Phone ringing]

Melanie: Hey, Chad.

Chad: I'm so glad you answered.

Melanie: What do you want?

Chad: Look, I need to see you.

Melanie: Yeah, I don't think that's a good idea.

Chad: Please, it's important. Where are you?

Melanie: I'm at the coffee house, but--

Chad: I'll be right there.

Melanie: He's coming here.

Abigail: Good. Do you want to see him?

Melanie: I mean, not--not unless he can make everything better, which would take a miracle.

Rafe: If you were to disappear off the face of the earth, EJ would get suspicious and then he would come looking for you. What, you really think he wouldn't find you?

Nicole: Yeah, but you're smarter than he is. You would find me someplace super-safe.

Rafe: [Laughing] Yeah. Yeah, right. Just like I figured out where Sami was when she was in witness protection?

Nicole: Okay, EJ could find me.

Rafe: Hey, come on. It's not the kind of life you want to lead anyway, is it? Always looking over your shoulder, wondering if EJ's gonna pounce. What kind of life is that for your kid? You know, the more you tried to protect him, the more you'd actually be imprisoning him.

Nicole: Then what am I supposed to do?

Rafe: Hey.

Kayla: So do you know what's going on with Sami?

Lucas: Yeah, yeah, kind of.

Kayla: Anything I can do to help?

Lucas: I wish I could help. With everything going on, I mean, the last thing she needs right now is grief from EJ too.

Kayla: Sounds like you care a lot.

Lucas: I do, I do, I'm worried about her.

Kayla: So am I. You know, I can't help but ask you this. Are you sure you don't have feelings for Sami still?

Lucas: No, Kayla, I don't have feelings for Sami, come on. Come on, after everything we've been through? It's amazing that we're friends at all, and we're friends for the kids.

Kayla: For the kids.

Lucas: Yeah, for the kids. I'm engaged, all right? I can't wait to go back to Hong Kong and start a new life with Autumn, who's wonderful, by the way.

EJ: Samantha, I'm the mayor. I have to lead by example. I can't be going around threatening people.

EJ: Don't be vindictive.

Sami: She was trying to throw me in prison.

EJ: Mm-hmm. For a crime you absolutely committed and deserve to be punished for.

Sami: Details.

EJ: Details? I saved your ass. What do I give you? This lovely apartment you get to spend time in with your children. You get to be happy. You get to be safe. It's rent-free.

Sami: I know, but--

EJ: Utilities are included.

Sami: And all you want is my undying gratitude in return.

Sami: 'Cause if you mean that, then I just have one thing left to say. On behalf of my children and me, I will graciously accept your offer of this apartment. Thank you.

Sami: I want to pay you back.

EJ: Please, don't.

Sami: No, I mean that. Seriously, I'm going to find a way to pay you back. I don't want to owe anyone anything, especially you.

EJ: Okay, fine.

Hope: I would like to propose a compromise so that we can all get what we want.

Stefano: I'm listening, even though you're giving me a headache.

Hope: Oh, Stefi, I am so sorry.

Stefano: [Sighs]

Hope: Allow us to retrieve this exquisite egg for you.

John: Then we will tell you what we want for it.

Stefano: I see. [Laughs] And I should trust you to do that, eh?

Hope: Honestly, do you have a choice? Is it a deal? Or not?

Stefano: [Pounds fists] [Sighs] All right. There will be a car to take you back to the hotel. And in your room there are enough clothes for you, and also there's enough money for you to complete your task. Now, you have 48 hours to bring that egg back to me, hmm? So? You'd better get moving. The clock is ticking.

Nicole: I just--I feel like a sitting duck who's about to lay an egg.

Rafe: Well, EJ can't take your baby before it's born, can he?

Nicole: [Scoffs]

Nicole: Yeah.

John: You know, you're right. This place is a dump. It doesn't even have a damn mini bar.

Stefano: They're gonna go get that egg pretty soon, and as soon as you know for sure that they have it, you get it from them. I don't care how you do it.

John: Well, it took a while, but here we are.

Hope: Alone at last. Just the two of us.

[Ethereal music and vocalizing]

Stefano: No wonder Bo and Marlena didn't want them to leave. [Chuckles]

Melanie: Okay, so--

Chad: About the earring, um, Gabi has something she wants to say to you.

Gabi: The earring is, um-- it's mine.

Melanie: What?

Abigail: She said the earring is hers.

Melanie: No, I--[Laughs] It's--it's-- so--so you slept with Gabi?

Lucas: You are such a smug piece of--

Sami: Okay, okay, you know what, Lucas? There's no reason for you to get upset right now.

EJ: Well, on that rational note, um, I'm going to leave.

Sami: Uh--

EJ: You know, Lucas, I really don't know what causes these little tantrums of yours, but I can assure you I only have Samantha's best interests at heart.

Lucas: Yeah, yeah, I'll bet you do.

Rafe: Nicole, I know you're worried about a lot of stuff right now. You're scared. I promise you, everything's gonna be okay.

Rafe: I don't. I'm gonna help you through this, and I'm gonna protect you from EJ.

Nicole: How?

Rafe: We need a plan.

Nicole: Which we don't have.

Nicole: Well-- [Sighs] I hope you know wh--where to start, because I'm gonna be showing soon, and because I lost my last baby and supposedly I can't get pregnant, Daniel wants me to see some high-risk ob/gyn.

Sami: First of all, you don't know what you're talking about. E--EJ offered to help me for the kids' sake.

Lucas: Yeah.

Sami: I am going through a divorce, I just lost my job, all right, and he stepped in, right place, right time. You want to cough up a condo, we'll talk.

Lucas: Yeah, sure, if that's what it takes.

Sami: Well, thank you for the offer. That's--if that's what that was. Look, this is a perfect situation for me right now, okay? It's fully furnished, it's ready to go, it's what we need right now.

Lucas: I just wanted to talk to about this whole corporate espionage thing with my mom. Even though she's gunning for you, I talked to her and I think--I think she's all right. I don't think she's gonna press any charges.

Sami: EJ said the same thing. He said that he convinced her that she should leave me alone for the kids' sake.

Lucas: EJ did that? EJ convinced her?

Sami: Well, I'm not in handcuffs.

Lucas: You know, I think he's lying about everything. He's lying about the apartment. He's lying about my mom's threats being gone. He wouldn't do this unless he wanted something.

Sami: What do I have that EJ could possibly want?

Lucas: I'm thinking.

Sami: Oh, stop. Stop it, okay? It's not like that. I mean, believe me, after everything EJ and I have been through-- and he's still in love with Nicole. He's doing everything he can to try to win her back.

Stefano: You find 'em, or all kinds of hell is gonna break loose!

Martin: Yes, sir.

Lucas: [Clears throat]

Sami: Hey. Is everything all right? Isn't it, like, the middle of the night over there?

Lucas: Yeah, well, you know, she missed me.

Sami: Who wouldn't?

Lucas: And I miss her. Um, she wants me to come back.

Sami: Lucas, you can't. You can't leave me.

Nicole: Now, there's a restaurant review, hmm? Or my obituary. [Chuckles] "The condemned woman ate a hearty meal."
