Hope: Everyone having a great time?

All: Yeah!

Hope: I can't hear you. I'm so glad. I know that my wonderful grandparents, the beloved Tom and Alice Horton, would be so, so proud of this day. Family meant everything to them. And their definition of family was always very inclusive. They saw the people of Salem as family. I know my grandparents are here in spirit with us tonight. And now...[Laughs] There are two people that are very important to this community and to our family. And guess what, guys? They're here!

[Cheers and applause]

Hope: Not just in spirit, but in the flesh. Please turn around.

[Cheers and applause]

John: Good to see you.

Sami: Oh, I can't believe you're here.

Marlena: It's so good to see you. Oh, baby. Oh, my girls.

Bo: Well, that couldn't have gone better. Did you see the look on Sami's face?

Hope: On everyone's face.

Bo: Yeah.

Sami: You knew about this?

Carrie: Sorry, I was sworn to secrecy.

Sami: You are totally busted. Mom, I missed you so much.

Marlena: Oh, my goodness.

Rafe: Hi.

Marlena: Oh, my, this must be Rafe.

Rafe: Pleasure to meet you.

Marlena: Forget it. [Laughter] Oh. Thank you so much for taking care of my girl.

Rafe: Oh, god, yeah. Of course. My pleasure.

Sami: I don't make it easy. This is the best night ever, Mom.

Marlena: More. I'm gonna check on your dad.

Sami: Okay.

Marlena: Don't go anywhere.

Sami: Okay. Say hi.

Marlena: Wow. A little overwhelming, huh?

John: Mm, yeah, a little.

Marlena: Everybody's here.

John: No. Not everyone.

Brady: Chloe. What are you doing in bed? You got to get out of bed. You got to get ready for your audition. Come on, let's go.

Chloe: I'm not going.

Brady: Chloe.

Chloe: What's the point, Brady? I mean, really, what's the point?

Brady: What's the point? Excuse me, excuse me, remember, we were talking not too long ago, and we were talking about getting your life back together and getting back on track? Getting your son back. Hey, hey. What happened?

[Chatter]

Chad: [Clears throat] You don't seem quite as swept up in the spirit of the party as everyone else.

Kate: Au contraire. I am a vortex of emotion. Inside.

Chad: Well, I think it's great. Can't imagine a better party.

Kate: I could.

Daniel: You know, you Hortons really are something. Especially when you get together like this. It's hard for someone like me to fathom what it'd be like to have a family like that.

Jennifer: You know what, it's really wonderful. It is flat-out wonderful.

Daniel: Is it?

Jennifer: Yeah.

Daniel: Flat-out wonderful?

Jennifer: Flat-out wonderful. And I am so proud of Hope tonight because she managed to honor my grandparents in a way that is as special as they were.

Daniel: You know, those special qualities have been handed down to generations that followed. And I see that whenever I look at you.

Jennifer: You do? [Murmurs]

Will: Hi, Grandma.

Marlena: Will.

Will: Hi.

Marlena: Oh! [Exclaims] Oh, my. Look at you. Look at you. You're so big and... and you're so handsome.

Will: Thank you. Thank you. You've been really missed.

Marlena: Thank you.

Will: Oh, hi.

John: Hey, Will.

Will: How are you feeling?

John: Better. Hell of a lot better now.

Will: Okay. Um, do you mind--will you guys wait here for just a minute? Because there's someone that I want to introduce you to.

Marlena: We're not going anywhere. You go ahead.

Will: Okay.

Marlena: We'll be right here. Ooh, I love that boy.

John: Kid's so grown up, isn't he?

EJ: Kate, you missed the second coming of John and Marlena.

Kate: Ah, yes, well, if that was the great surprise, one can only imagine how hideous this evening's going to be.

EJ: You'll have to forgive Kate's ennui. She's a little bit jaded. I can assure you, if Prince William and Kate had walked in, she'd be bored.

Kate: Oh, please, I'm not bored. I'm just--I'm preoccupied. I was hoping one of these mystery guests would provide some kind of inspiration for me. I'm looking for new faces for the Countess W Collection.

EJ: Thinking about yourself, that's very out of character for you.

Kate: All right. I have been looking at models from the four corners of the world, and I haven't found anyone yet.

Patti: EJ's right. You're jaded. You don't see what's right in front of your face.

Kate: Excuse me?

Patti: You need to be thinking locally, not globally.

Kate: Locally? As in Salem?

Patti: Yeah. Mm-hmm. I've been here a short time. There are mighty fine pickins all over the place right here right now.

[Chatter]

Can I get pictures of you?

John: Oh, this'll be great.

Hope: Thank you. Thank you for being here.

John: All right, now, you're gonna have to stop thanking us. We're the ones who should be thanking you.

Marlena: Oh, Sami's there. Excuse me one second.

John: I have not seen her smile like that in quite a while.

Hope: Well, maybe that smile, and let's not forget the warm reception, will convince you to stick around for a while.

John: It's gonna be hard to leave. So much love in this town. So many... great people.

Hope: So I need to ask you something. I noticed that you and Marlena were whispering back and forth to one another. I'm not the only one with a surprise here tonight, am I?

John: Always the detective, aren't you?

Marlena: Well, you know me. So what's up?

John: What's up?

Hope: Yeah.

John: What's up is that you are gonna try a taste of your own medicine. You're just gonna have to wait and see.

Hope: John, I have missed you so much. I'm so glad you're back.

John: I missed you too.

Marlena: Sami, this is a celebration, and I know tonight is about other things, but I heard what you went through. You must have been so frightened. I'm so glad you're all right.

Sami: Daddy told you, even though I asked him not to.

Marlena: He told me after you knew that you were all right. Honey, I wish you had called me.

Sami: Mom, I didn't want to worry you.

Marlena: Is there anybody more important in my life than you are? I'm your mother. I'm the person you turn to in a crisis. And I would have been there for you.

Sami: I know that. But you're here now. Mom, you're here now. Everything's great.

Roman: Well, kid, it is good to have you back. Even though you are on the other side now.

Carrie: I'm a defense attorney, Dad. That doesn't make me a tool of the devil.

Roman: Your words, not mine. I just feel sorry for you, that's all. I mean, missing out on that joy, that rush of putting the bad guys away, right, Austin?

Austin: No way I'm getting in the middle of this one.

Roman: Oh, come on.

Abe: I will. I will. I will. Roman's right. You know, you would make an excellent prosecutor. I've known you since you were a little girl, and nobody had a keener sense of justice.

Carrie: Just because I got Sami grounded a few hundred times...

[Laughter]

Abe: Well, you know, I can pull some strings if you ever want to think about making the switch.

Carrie: Does it matter to anyone that I love what I do?

Roman: Oh. That.

Marlena: May I have a moment of your time, please?

[Murmuring]

Roman: What now? What's going on?

Marlena: While we were away, my grandson will emailed us every single day. Sometimes he sent us family pictures. Sometimes he just wrote a single line, and sometimes he wrote pages. He wasn't the only one. So many of you here tonight reached out to us, showing your support and your love... and sent us your heartfelt prayers. We needed them.

John: That's a fact.

[Laughter]

Marlena: John's rehab was grueling. Physically, mentally, and spiritually. And the love and concern that so many of you showed got us through some very dark days. So this moment is your moment. All of you. Sweetheart.

[Exclamations]

[Applause]

[Whistling]

John: Thank you. All of you. Thank you. Marlena's right. You... you all were a part of this. And I don't think that you will ever fully understand just... how important your love and support was to us. Now I still have a ways to go. Getting to the point where I can... beat my good friend Abe in a marathon may take... a week or two.

[Laughter]

Abe: I'm gonna hold you to that.

[Laughter]

John: I think by now you all know that I wouldn't even be here if-- hell, going way back, I might not be anywhere at all... without the love and support of the most amazing woman I have ever known. You are and always will be... the love of my life. Always.

[Applause]

Chloe: And she said that she was gonna make sure that there's no way that I'll even get partial custody of Parker.

Brady: Yeah, that's not Kate's call at all.

Chloe: She knows that I've been hooking this whole time. She's the one who got Quinn to go after me and blackmail me and all that.

Brady: Chloe, and she's gonna have a very special place in hell for doing that.

Chloe: Yeah, well, until that happy day, she's gonna get Child Protective Services to make sure that I can never see my son again.

Brady: What are you gonna do? You gonna give up?

Chloe: I told you, Kate knows.

Brady: I know, and here's what I know, Chloe Lane. You've got what it takes to turn your life around, and you're gonna do it.

Chloe: How? I'm out of options.

Brady: No, you're not. This audition is a big option. It's a big chance for you. I'm not gonna hear this anymore. Here's what's gonna happen. You're gonna get dressed, you're gonna get ready for that audition, you're gonna do it. And then we'll find Kate, and I'm gonna make sure that both of you get exactly what you deserve.

Kate: So I am very happy to say Countess W personal care is going to be based right here in this beautifully-restored Town Square.

I think the real story here is you, Mrs. DiMera.

Kate: Oh, no, no. Today is not about me.

I beg to differ. I think my friend is right. Kate, what is your secret?

Kate: My secret? I refuse to lose.

Marlena: John wanted to make sure that he could stand in front of everybody. Yeah. He stood for the first time last week.

Sami: Mom, it's a miracle. I mean, a new beginning.

Marlena: I'd like this to be a new beginning for all of us.

Sami: I'll try. I promise, I'm going to try.

Marlena: Okay, that's all I can ask.

Sami: But look at him. I mean, you would never know that he was injured.

Marlena: I know it looks that way. But he's not completely well. He's got a long way to go. Our John is not entirely back yet.

Sami: You mean physically. Is there more, Mom?

Marlena: We are on a long journey. It isn't over yet.

[Big band music]

Abigail: Melanie's trying to look like she's having fun. She can't quite pull it off.

Chad: It's been, what, a day since Dario took off?

Abigail: Ask her to dance.

Chad: Abigail, come on. Look at her. She looks amazing. Give her two minutes, some guy's gonna ask her to dance.

Abigail: And I say that guy should be you.

Chad: Okay, if you insist.

Abigail: I do.

Jennifer: We're going this way.

Daniel: Where are we going? Where are we going?

Jennifer: I am going to freshen up a little bit, and I'm gonna meet you right back here, right here.

Daniel: What? No.

Jennifer: Right here. Right here.

Daniel: All right. No problem.

Melanie: You do realize, don't you, that I know this is a pity dance?

Chad: No, because a pity dance is dancing with someone who looks bad. And, trust me, you look nice. Just beat everyone to the punch.

Melanie: Well, you certainly are a DiMera. You lie very well.

John: Figured I ought to warn you. Hope's already pushing for us to stay.

Marlena: [Chuckles] We expected that, didn't we? John.

John: It's okay.

Marlena: Nobody would mind if you wanted to sit down.

John: Oh, I'm feeling fine. Really. Okay, when the time comes, I'll find a chair, and I'll take a seat, I promise.

Marlena: I don't want you to overdo.

John: I don't want you worrying about me. But I like it when you do.

Maggie: Hi, honey. Oh, sorry. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you.

Jennifer: No, you didn't. It's not your fault. I-I just have the oddest feeling. I don't know what it is. I feel like something's going on and I'm missing it.

Maggie: Well, this party has been pretty overwhelming. One surprise after another.

Jennifer: Yeah. That's probably it. I'm waiting for the next one to happen, that's all.

Maggie: Well, you know what, this Town Square is filled with the presence of so many loved ones both present and past.

Jennifer: Yeah, that's just it, I'm sure.

Maggie: Yeah.

Jennifer: Wasn't it great seeing John?

Maggie: Oh, I know.

Nicole: I can't remember the last time that I was just myself or even independent, for that matter.

Kinsey: You talking about Brady?

Nicole: I'm talking about Brady and talking about EJ. I kept telling myself that I need a man to be fulfilled. Not anymore.

Marlena: No sign of Brady?

John: You know I hate it when you read my mind.

Marlena: He'll be here.

John: Yeah.

Nicole: Oh, my God, you look beautiful.

Kinsey: Good luck at your audition. You--you are gonna be great.

Chloe: Thank you. You know, there's something that I have to do first. I'll be right back.

Brady: Hey, hey-hey. I'll go with you if you want me to.

Chloe: No, Brady, I did listen to what you said before, and I have to get my life back. But I need to do it by myself.

Nicole: What the hell is going on, Brady?

Chris: I cannot tell you how nice it is to be working side-by-side with you again, Miss Roberts. Oh, DiMera. I don't know why I keep calling you that.

Kate: Okay, word to the wise, do not say that in front of my husband.

Chris: Right. Right. Not getting murdered by Stefano DiMera is at the top of my to-do list. [Laughter] What a party, right? The champagne, the caviar. I hear they have made-from- scratch-from-Alice Horton's-recipe doughnuts. Have you had one yet?

Kate: No.

Chris: Oh, I can't thank you enough for bringing me here.

Kate: Well, you are on the uninvited list along with me.

Chris: Oh, I don't care, I don't care. This is the most exciting thing to happen in Salem since... a really long time. I mean, this party has everything. Even the reporters are celebrities. Man, the Hortons really know how to toss a bash, don't they?

Kate: You know what we should do? We should string popcorn all around that hideous tree and then sing Kumbaya.

Chris: Oh, okay. I'm sure it's all downhill from here.

Kate: Well, it may have been a lousy party, but you know the high point? My press conference was pitch-perfect.

Chloe: We need to talk.

Kate: Hey, give me that. We said everything that we need to say to each other, Chloe.

Chloe: Oh, that's where you're wrong. We're not nearly done.

Marlena: Whoa! My heart, my heart.

John: I don't think I've seen her any happier.

Marlena: Oh, look at you all.

Carrie: Oh. They're all so beautiful. Sydney has your eyes.

Sami: Oh, I think they're more like my mom's.

Will: Okay, everybody, family picture.

Marlena: Oh, my goodness.

Rafe: I hope you got a wide-angle lens.

Sami: Come on, come on, everybody.

Marlena: Yup.

Sami: Up, up, up, up, up.

Lexie: [Sighs] I don't think this night could get any better.

Abe: Oh, so you think my big announcement's gonna be anticlimactic, huh?

Lexie: No.

Abe: You know, maybe I need a little help from my main man to beef it up. Ready to help your old man, Theo?

Theo: Okay.

Lexie: Okay.

Sami: Okay, we got it.

Rafe: Yay.

Sami: Oh, my gosh. So, Johnny, let me explain, okay, what's gonna be happening. We don't know how long they're gonna be able to stay for. But you know what? We're just gonna play and have so much fun while they're here, right?

Johnny: Oh, yeah.

Sydney: Hi, Daddy.

EJ: Samantha, can I... can I just have a moment with my children, please?

Roman: I warned you about causing trouble here tonight.

EJ: Look, I'm not looking to cause any trouble. I would just--I'd just like a moment to tell my kids that I love them, please.

Rafe: You want me to take care of this?

Sami: No. Okay.

Rafe: Okay.

Sami: Don't blow this.

EJ: Hey, sweetheart. [Sighs] Hey. Hey, son. Wow, it's a pretty amazing party, eh? Are you enjoying it? Congratulations... that you won your soccer game.

Johnny: You saw it?

EJ: No, I didn't. But I heard you scored a goal, right? That you outran Rudy, eh?

Sami: So, Johnny, if you want to, you can go give your daddy a great, big hug. But you don't have to. Okay? Whatever you want.

EJ: Thank you. Okay. Back you go, children.

Chris: Um, did you hear Miss DiMera? Look, I'm a big fan of yours, Miss Lane, but if you know what's good for you, am-scray.

Kate: Excuse us, Chris.

Chris: Oh, I can help--

Kate: Ah!

Chris: Or not.

Kate: Okay, ten words or less. What?

Chloe: I am going to be a mother to my son, and you are not gonna stop me.

Kate: You're right. I'm not. The good people at Child Protective Services, well, they're gonna do it. 'Cause they are a little picky about reuniting children with mommies who do what you did.

Chloe: I've talked to Quinn. He's trying to make amends. He's more than happy to swear out an affidavit about your involvement in his business. You know, how you helped him with his recruiting.

Kate: Really? 'Cause there's no proof of that.

Chloe: Well, maybe there's no proof, but it's a pretty unfortunate P.R. situation, you know, for someone launching a new business. See, Kate, it doesn't really matter who the new face of Countess W is when that old face is a blackmailing, vindictive, neurotic bitch who partners with pimps to get what she wants. Would you use her face cream?

Kate: You little--

Chloe: You can call me whatever you want, 'cause I win and you lose. More importantly, my son wins. Because I know, I know that I am a good mother. Something that you don't know anything about. So get out of my way. And get out of my life.

Chris: Looks like you could use a drink.

Kate: Hmm. Oh, I could use many, many, many, many drinks.

Marlena: Your mother said you had grown, but oh, my goodness. She was not kidding.

Will: Oh, yeah. I'm completely mature and responsible now.

Marlena: No, there's no rush. There's always time for that later on. How are you?

Will: I'm great. I'm great, and you're back. So everything's great.

Marlena: Been thinking about your emails. Realizing that you'd written a lot about everybody else, what they were doing, what they were thinking, and not so much about you and how you were feeling.

Will: You know, there are easier things in the world than having your grandmother be a shrink.

Marlena: I'm in your corner. Always have been. If you want to talk to me, it's always confidential. Don't say shrink.

Will: [Laughs] Sorry.

Marlena: Oh, I have missed you.

Will: I missed you too.

Hope: Ladies and gentlemen, it is now time for the official dedication of this new, revitalized square, a place that I know will become the heart and soul of Salem. I'm sorry. Hold on a second. There is a Horton miss-- ah, we've got her. Ladies and gentlemen, my beautiful cousin Jennifer Horton.

[Cheers and applause]

Jennifer: Thank you. Um, hi, everyone. And it is very true what Hope just said. We're not just here to celebrate this beautiful square. It's really the love that led to us all being here in this beautiful, special place. My grandmother and grandfather, they loved each other so, so very much. And I am telling you, it just overflowed, and it affected everyone around them. And not just their family, 'cause if you were a neighbor, if you worked at the hospital, if you lived in Salem, you were family, and they loved you.

[Laughter]

Abe: Amen.

All: Amen.

Jennifer: So even though we can no longer see my grandmother and grandfather... we feel them. We feel them every day. And especially here in this place. They loved this place so much. And they are still alive here, I know it. And they never--they never want us to stop knowing that the most important thing, the most important thing in your life... is to love each other. Anyway, on that note, my cousin Hope is going to read a poem that my grandfather wrote for my grandmother. And it is really a testament to how much they loved each other and how much they loved their life. Beauteous.

Hope: Thanks, Bo.

Jennifer: I'm shaking.

Hope: Our grandpa read this. "There was a light..."

Chloe: And I looked in Kate's eyes, and I knew that I'd won. That I'd get Parker back.

Brady: I'm very, very proud of you.

Chloe: Thank you. You're the one who said that I could do it. Thanks for everything.

Nicole: Honey, I mean, that's great, but you still have an audition to get to.

Brady: Yes.

Kinsey: Okay, come on. I will drive you.

Chloe: Thank you. I'll never forget how you stood by me. I love you. Both.

Brady: [Exhales]

Nicole: Well, you did good, Brady. Real good.

Hope: "There is a beauty... seen by my eye... perceived as only I see... for it adds now to memory... of past beauty still bright... and a life that has been lived with me... there is a name for this total... of light and sound and beauty... gilt and gold mined... all through my life... and the name of this treasure... held warm in my heart... is my friend... my lover... my wife."

[Applause]

Hope: And now I'd like to invite anyone who would like to come to the podium to share a memory of Tom and Alice.

EJ: Stupid.

Patti: Hey, where'd you go?

EJ: Hey, I'm sorry. I, um... just had some people that I had to talk to.

Patti: Look, I know you've got something planned for today. You think now's the time?

EJ: Soon. Not quite yet, though.

Maggie: I still miss my mother-in-law, my friend Alice, every day. Something'll happen, and I'll think, "Oh, I have to tell Alice." But then I don't really have to tell her. I know she's watching over me. She's urging me to live my life to the fullest. And she's reminding me that love is more powerful than anything.

Julie: What I remember most of all about my grandmother is how she would look at my grandfather. They'd be sitting across the dinner table from each other and he'd tell a story. And Grandma would be absolutely beaming at him.

[Laughter]

Bo: Wasn't that funny? Okay, so, after she broke me out of jail, I just figured she thought I was a pig.

John: Giving. Second-nature to 'em. Didn't think twice about helping others. They just did it.

Roman: All right. All right. Okay, so it's a cliché, okay, cops and doughnuts, all right. [Laughter] But I guarantee you this, when it came to doughnuts, Alice was our goddess.

[Cheers]

[Applause]

Abe: And Jennifer's right. If Mrs. Horton loved you, you were family. And that was the best feeling in the world.

Marlena: So this tree is a symbol of love between Tom and Alice and the rebirth of this unique community. As the tree grows, so will Salem--strong and with an unshakable foundation that will inspire us, just the way Tom and Alice did.

[Exclamations]

Sami: Wow.

Hope: I think it's time.

Doug: [Chuckles] Okay, all I need is the love of my life.

Hope: I think Bo's tracking her down. There she is.

Bo: Are you ready?

Julie: Are you kidding? I've been ready since you came up with this wonderful idea.

Doug: I'll be loving you always

Julie: With a love that's true always

Both: When the things you've planned need a helping hand I will understand

Julie: Always

Doug: Always

Julie: I'll be loving you always

Doug: With a love that's true always

Both: When the things you've planned need a helping hand I will understand always always days may not be fair always that's when I'll be there always not for just an hour not for just a day not for just a year but always

Marlena: We're home.

John: [Silently] We're home.

Both: Always

Adrienne: That little boy's gonna be so lucky to have you back in his life.

Chloe: I'm here to say good-bye. I wish I didn't have to go on my own.

Kinsey: What if you didn't?
