Brady: What's wrong? What is it?
Taylor: Nothing's wrong. Something is very...very right.
Brady: Um... then why are you crying?
EJ: Hey. I wanted you to know this matter is resolved...permanently.
Nicole: Meaning...
EJ: Meaning exactly what I said. There's not going to be any revenge.
Nicole: Just like that.
EJ: Just like that.
Nicole: And I should believe you why?
EJ: You clearly don't know me...as well as you think you do. This is over, Nikky. Look... I understand that... you're skeptical, obviously. Yes? No? Skeptical, buying it--which is it?
Nicole: I-I buy it. Because actually, I do know you as well as I think I do. And I can see in your eyes that it... it is true.
EJ: Thank you. Good. Well, now you can go back to, uh...you know, shopping, lunch with friends. Whatever it is that...you do.
Nicole: [Laughs] You know, I'm not worried about my life, EJ. I am worried about Brady.
EJ: You're such a good friend.
Nicole: Okay. You've convinced me you're not out for blood. But how the hell are you gonna convince him?
Maggie: Victor, I'm a bit thrown...not to mention hurt.
Victor: I'm sorry, Maggie. It can't be helped.
Maggie: What can't?
Victor: [Sighs] I'm sorry.
Maggie: Will you stop being sorry, please? Victor, if you have to cancel dinner with me, that's fine. I get it--things come up. But especially--
Sonny: Oh... hey, Maggie.
Maggie: Hi.
Sonny: Uh, I was wondering if we could talk.
Victor: Not a good time.
Sonny: Yeah, but it's only gonna take--
Victor: Not now, sonny.
Sonny: Sorry. Sorry to interrupt.
Maggie: Mm. As I said, it's rude and hurtful to cancel on someone and not tell them why. Especially after the-- Victor, we spent the night together.
Victor: I know that, Maggie. I was there.
Maggie: Yes. You were very much there. So what now, you just disappear on me and...well, just forget about it? You cannot and you will not just blow me off... not without giving me a damn good reason!
Stefano: I want all my men on full alert, Marco. Victor Kiriakis has called for a meeting to prevent a war, but... [Chuckles] I don't trust him.
Marco: And it was definitely his grandson, Brady black, who almost murdered your son.
Stefano: Yes. Kiriakis has gotta be out of his mind if he thinks that what happened to Elvis is gonna go unavenged.
Marco: We've got everybody up and mobilized, sir. All we need is for you to give us the go-ahead.
Stefano: I can never trust Kiriakis. I mean, this could be a trap. But they're gonna find out what it means to cross a DiMera.
Sami: [Laughs] Oh, man. Have I ever told you... I definitely like you better than all those stupid boy action figures? You're my favorite. But you know that, don't you?
[Door clatters]
Rafe: Ah... ah! There she is.
Sami: Hi. [Giggles] I was just having a heart-to-heart with Nigel, you know, telling him that he's my favorite.
Rafe: Yes. I'm aware of that.
Sami: [Laughs] Well, that's only because the sweetest guy in the whole world, he, um, searched high and low till he found him for me.
Rafe: I was forced into that, as I recall.
Sami: Forced? Hardly! I just gently suggested that you might wanna find stuffed penguins for the twins.
Rafe: Gently suggested? Ha. I don't think you've ever gently suggested anything in your life, honey.
Sami: Okay, okay, so maybe I was a little intense about it, but it's a good thing you found him, 'cause it's when I fell in love with you.
Rafe: Oh. Mmm...
Sami: What took you so long anyway? I was worried about you.
Rafe: Seriously? Traffic. It's driving me nuts. Where is everyone in Salem going, by the way? I just wanted to come home and see you.
Sami: Actually, I haven't been home that long myself.
Rafe: No? Kids in bed?
Sami: Actually, I was dropping them off. Allie's at Emily's for the sleepover, and you know that Johnny is on a sleepover, too, at Kevin's and Sydney is visiting grandma.
Rafe: How about will?
Sami: He called and said he wouldn't be home till late.
Rafe: Oh. So...it's just us, huh?
Sami: So boring, right? I mean, what are we gonna do? No stories to read, no tucking into the bed. I don't know what we're gonna do.
Rafe: I am sure that we'll think of something.
Taylor: I'm happy. I'm happy because this is finally over. I spoke to EJ and he--he decided he's...he's dropping this.
Brady: He's dropping what?
Taylor: He decided to follow through on the changes that he promised to make...for his sake, for his family's sake. It's--it's--it's over. He is not gonna pursue this any further.
Brady: No kidding? That's good. Yippee-yippee-yi-ay. EJ's finally gonna change. I cannot believe--we should put it in sky writing!
Taylor: Brady, come on.
Brady: No, really, now that he said it outright, he's vocalized it... oh, my God, this is terrific. We can sleep better at night. We can get along with our lives now--this is wonderful news! I love it!
Taylor: Brady, Brady, it's true, it's true. I-I-I promise you, it's real. You are safe. This vendetta is done with.
Stefano: That's why there is only one solution.
Chad: Solution to what?
Stefano: Chad. Ha. Marco and I were just talking about business.
Chad: You guys weren't chatting about business. Whatever you're dealing with is obviously personal. I can tell just by looking at you.
Marco: Maybe you should trust your father.
Stefano: No, maybe I should handle this. Chad...
Chad: Look... I don't mind you keeping me out of it. That's your call. Just don't lie to me.
Stefano: Chad, wait. You're right. You're my son. You deserve to know what happened.
Maggie: Now, tell me what's going on. Why are you canceling tonight?
Victor: I can't be specific, but I assure you, whatever it is, I'll deal with it.
Maggie: I don't want to be assured. I wanted to be informed. I wanted you to stop being cryptic and mysterious and tell me what's going on.
Victor: Maggie, I thought I made it clear that there were certain aspects of my business that I can't discuss--with anyone. Is that no longer acceptable to you?
Maggie: No. It isn't. Good night, Victor.
Victor: Maggie, wait, please. You're the best thing that's ever happened to me...by far. You do believe that, don't you?
Maggie: I do. I mean, I think that you think that. Victor, can you tell me... you're not in any danger, are you?
Victor: No, absolutely not.
Rafe: Oh, I just remembered.
Sami: What?
Rafe: No, I gotta do something.
Sami: [Laughs] I thought we were doing something.
Rafe: Yeah, but, um... ah. Here. This is what I need.
Sami: Wait. You're really gonna do a project right now?
Rafe: No, no, no, it's not... not really a project.
Sami: So...I spent all day, I couldn't wait to be in your arms, and you're gonna fix the sink?
Rafe: Not the sink. The sink can wait. Johnny's train--look. It got all derailed and it's all screwed up. I...I told him I would fix it. He asked me to do it this morning, and I had to go to work, so I...I promised him that it would be done by the time he got home from his sleepover. So...
Sami: You are so sweet.
Rafe: Wish I was a little bit...better at fixing this stuff, you know? I think that's the problem, though.
[Both laugh]
Sami: Hey! Oh, I have a manual, I think.
Rafe: The manual. Okay. Yeah, okay.
Sami: Really? Okay, cool. I think it's in Johnny's desk drawer.
Victor: Maggie, I promise.
Maggie: That you'll make it up to me. You said that.
Victor: If there was any way I didn't have to do this tonight...
Maggie: Right. This completely safe, totally harmless whatever it is...
Victor: There's always tomorrow. Keep it open for me, okay?
Maggie: Well, how about I pencil it in in case something else comes up?
Victor: It won't.
Maggie: Well, then, I better let you get to it. This...whatever benign, harmless thing is...that you have to do.
Victor: Thank you for being so understanding.
Maggie: I'm really not, you know? It's just that... I happen to be crazy about you. So...I'm cutting you some slack. This time.
Victor: I'll see you soon.
Maggie: Yeah. And now it starts. Ha. The lies.
Stefano: Marco, would you excuse us a moment? [Ahem] You're very perceptive. Chad, what did happen is personal...extremely personal.
Chad: Is this about the attack on EJ?
Stefano: No, no, no, no. It's not just about Elvis, okay? It's the attack on all of us, okay? It's the attack that cannot go unavenged. So what I have to know is... can I count on you, son, for what has to be done?
Brady: You know, for as smart as you are, for all the diplomas and the fancy education that you have, you're pretty gullible, you know?
Taylor: Brady...
Brady: You are.
Taylor: I swear on my life the DiMeras are not coming after you. EJ was telling me the truth. I saw it in his eyes.
Brady: You don't think that EJ can play the part of the honest guy? He acts, he pretends. He pulls wool over people's eyes. This is what he does for a living, Taylor.
Taylor: Okay. But not this time.
Brady: You remember the last time that he lied to your face and you looked into his eyes and you knew damn well that he was being honest with you? Remember that? Hmm?
Taylor: Okay, you're right. All right? You're right, I've been gullible when it comes to EJ. I have believed his lies because I wanted to because...I didn't want to lose him.
Brady: Exactly. Now we're finally getting someplace.
Taylor: But not this time. I know in my heart...
Brady: Oh, my God.
Taylor: I know in my heart this vendetta is over, Brady.
Brady: Uh-huh.
Taylor: It's a clean slate for us--for EJ, for me, for you. There is nothing hanging over our heads anymore. You are free.
Brady: Free to do what?
EJ: Look, I think I can handle Brady. All right?
Nicole: Okay. That sounds great. I mean, why not, right? Everything's always been kittens and rainbows and sunsets with you.
EJ: I'm trying to change. Look, I realize it would be presumptuous, if not completely deluded, of me...to expect you just to believe that. But short of taking a lie detector test, it's about the best I can do. I don't think they have a lie detector in the Brady pub. It's not a hoax.
Nicole: I can see that. I-I really can.
EJ: Nikky, giving up my children... stopping this senseless war... it's all part of a bigger picture. This war with Brady ends tonight.
Melanie: Maggie, sit down. Tell me about your life and your job and Victor.
Maggie: Ah, work. Work. Work is fine. I didn't go into chez rouge. I called, though. They're very busy, apparently.
Melanie: Okay. That's good. And Victor?
Maggie: Ah...he and I had a dinner date.
Melanie: Ooh.
Maggie: Tonight.
Maggie: Why are you home?
Maggie: He canceled.
Maggie: Well, he better have a good reason.
Maggie: He did. But he wouldn't tell me what it was.
Melanie: Well, he'll tell me.
Maggie: No. No. Stop. You're not calling him.
Melanie: Well, I don't like him bailing on you like this.
Maggie: Well, I don't either. I tried to get him to open up to me, but... Melanie, I'm afraid something very serious is going on with him. Why...aren't you saying anything? Melanie, do you have an idea what it is?
Melanie: Um... last night EJ was really close to figuring out that Brady was the one that beat him up on the pier.
Maggie: Dear God. Does Brady know this?
Melanie: Mm-hmm. Yeah, he does, and he says he's going to...handle it.
Maggie: Mm. Well, that's why Victor wouldn't go out to dinner with me. Okay. Brady told him about EJ. And now they're mobilizing.
Dmitri: So you meet DiMera on the pier and what? You hug it out, make nice? All's forgiven?
Victor: [Chuckles] Your genius for diplomacy knows no bounds, Dmitri.
Dmitri: Just trying to get an idea, Mr. K.
Victor: Well, I know what drives people, Dmitri. Stefano DiMera's ruled by his passions, certainly, but underneath it all, he's a businessman.
Dmitri: Money makes his world go round, right?
Victor: To put it simplistically, yes. I mean, he's angry about what happened to his son--livid, in fact. But...dangle a couple of very generous proposals in front of the man...
Dmitri: Cooler heads might prevail?
Sonny: Uh, sorry to interrupt again, uncle vic. I was wondering if you were free now.
Victor: I am. Dmitri. Now, what can I do for you, sonny?
Sonny: Look, I want you to hear this from me before you heard it from anyone else. I got a job here in town with the D.A.
Victor: The D.A.? That idiot woods?
Sonny: Look, I know he's not well-respected, believe me. All right, my father thinks the only reason he hired me was to have an insider at the house.
Victor: Well, your father short-changes you. You're much too savvy to get played.
Sonny: [Laughs] Exactly. Thanks for acknowledging that.
Victor: Well, I have every confidence in you. But we're gonna have to finish this conversation at another time. I've gotta go.
Sonny: Where are you off to?
Victor: I am off to, uh... make your new job a little easier. Fix it so you don't have much to do in the next few weeks.
Chad: So what do you want from me?
Stefano: We are very close to finding out the truth about Elvis's beating.
Chad: How so? He says he doesn't remember a thing.
Stefano: Nevertheless, I received a phone call from someone...for a large sum of money is willing to give me all the facts. This man can be met at the intersection of Gloria street and wisteria avenue. Just outside of town. Interested?
Chad: What, you...you want me to go?
Stefano: You would do us a huge favor.
Chad: Fine. What the hell?
Stefano: Good. All right. You will be met by a man in a dark sedan, Pennsylvania license plate. You give him this money. He will give you an envelope, and you bring it back here.
Chad: You can count on me.
Stefano: I had no doubt. [Sighs] [Knocking on desk] Marco... when my son gets out there, you make sure there's a man there that he does not recognize, all right? Because I want my son as far away as possible from anything that may come down tonight. As a matter of fact, both my sons. Put a tail on Elvis also.
Marco: Of course, Mr. DiMera.
Stefano: He did not trust me enough to tell me that it was Brady black who attacked him, see? So I have to attack first. Before he finds out that I know what happened. And there's a very simple reason why Elvis doesn't want me involved.
Marco: What? You think Elvis wants to handle this himself?
Stefano: Marco... your powers of deduction never cease to amaze me.
Chad: What the hell is going on here?
Taylor: I don't know, maybe it's not my place to say this, but I'm gonna go out on a limb anyway, and... I think you need to find true love, because you deserve it.
Brady: Wow. I need to find true love. That's beautiful, Taylor. How do you suggest I do that? Should I go online? Should I go to the singles' bars or something?
Taylor: Don't make a joke of it, Brady.
Brady: I'm sorry, okay, you're being serious. Love is a serious subject, I won't make fun of it. Love is a many splendid thing. All right, all right, I'm sorry. Yes, I should find true love because it's a wonderful thing. Everyone should have it in their lives. And when you meet the right woman, she can be terrific for you, and she can make you into a better man. Right?
Taylor: Mm-hmm. It's great, and you should do that.
Brady: I will do that. I will find that. But I need your help. I need you to point me in the right direction. I need to know where she is, and I need to know who she is. Can you help me with that?
Nicole: You know what, I should go. Thank you.
EJ: For what?
Nicole: For not getting the man I love killed.
Melanie: Brady, hi, it's Melanie, again. Call me back when you get this, please.
Maggie: Heh!
Melanie: Fun never stops, does it?
Maggie: Mm-hmm. You know, when Victor told me he had business, I asked him point-blank if it was dangerous.
Melanie: And he said no.
Maggie: He promised me it was fine, benign, whatever.
Melanie: And you were expecting him to be honest?
Maggie: Oh, Melanie. Why am I always putting myself in a position of--
Melanie: What? Of caring too much?
Maggie: Mm.
Melanie: I don't know, gosh, maybe it's because you have the biggest heart of anybody I've ever met. You don't wanna watch anybody hurt somebody else. And if that person is somebody that you love... look, let's--let's not get ahead of ourselves. You know, maybe this-- maybe this isn't so dire. Maybe there's a possibility of-- of this being fine.
Maggie: Either way, the writing's on the wall.
Melanie: Wait, between you and Victor?
Maggie: We just got started. We were finally putting aside all those...feelings that were pulling us apart. And now this. It's just no good.
Melanie: What're you gonna do?
Maggie: I'm gonna find him. And I'm gonna ask him a direct question. And...I'm gonna expect a direct and honest answer.
Melanie: Um... m-- oh.
Stefano: Did you pack the car?
Marco: Whatever you need, boss, we're all set.
Stefano: Eh, what I need is retribution. That's what I need, pure and simple. For Elvis and for my family.
Sonny: Hey, man. You looking for someone?
Chad: Yeah, I'm looking for my brother.
Sonny: I haven't seen him, but I just got here so--
Chad: Well, I just tried calling him, too. It went straight to voicemail. But I probably should keep looking for him, but thanks, man.
Sonny: Chad, Chad, wait. What's going on?
Chad: Listen, buddy, I gotta go find my brother, man.
Sonny: No, not until you answer my question first.
Chad: Look, I gotta go.
Sonny: What, you think I'm some kind of idiot? I'm a Kiriakis, Chad. And I happen to know something's going down between my family and yours. If it's been escalating, I wanna know. So has it?
Chad: Yeah, it has. And that's why I'm looking for EJ. I'm hoping maybe he can find a way to circumvent whatever might happen. What?
Sonny: Just something my uncle said earlier... it's starting to make a lot more sense.
Chad: [Sighs]
Brady: Okay, come on, let's go find this woman. I got my car parked out here, all I need is a destination. Where should I go to find her?
Taylor: Oh, well, why don't you go to the toy store? Get yourself an action figure, some building blocks, and maybe a stuffed bear.
Brady: I'm sorry, I don't really follow that.
Taylor: Let me explain it, you're acting like a two-year-old.
Brady: I'm acting like a two-year-old? Are you kidding me? You told me to go out and find true love. How juvenile and infantile is that?
Taylor: Oh, you're right, you're right, it is. I regret it.
Brady: All right, you know what, Taylor, Taylor. I'm joking with you, come here. Please. I'm sorry, you're actually being sincere and I appreciate it. But it would be helpful if you could be a little specific.
Taylor: What, you didn't think I had someone in mind? Are you that dense?
[Phone ringing]
Brady: Hold that thought. Oh, I gotta take this. EJ, my man, how you doin'?
EJ: I think the two of us need to meet.
Brady: I absolutely agree. And I wanna thank you, it means a lot to me. I'm touched that you reached out to me. Name the time and place, buddy.
EJ: I'm in the forest clearing, just north of the lake. Get here as soon as you can.
Brady: You got it, chief. Well, looks like our little love chat is gonna have to wait. I got something...
Taylor: Okay, Brady. Brady.
Sami: I'm holding it steady.
Rafe: I know. Just...keep up the good work.
Sami: There's no need for sarcasm, agent Hernandez.
Rafe: I wasn't being sarcastic, you're actually helping me a lot right now.
Sami: Thank you.
Rafe: Now you're in my light.
Sami: Oh, my God, what should I do? Should I chop my head off?
Rafe: N-- can you just move it a little?
Sami: I'm trying, God.
[Metal clinks]
Sami: Oh, my God, can't this be easier? Maybe we should just take a five.
Rafe: N-n-n-no. No, just...
Sami: Break, just one break?
Rafe: No, we're not taking a break.
Sami: But I mean, all these--
Rafe: No. Listen, just hold it for me?
Sami: Okay, yes.
Rafe: Please, okay?
Sami: All right, all right.
Rafe: Just steady.
Sami: I'm being steady.
Rafe: [Grunts softly] There. There. Now that's what I'm talking about, okay? Now that should do it.
Sami: Oh, my God! I can't believe you did it!
Rafe: It's not done yet.
Sami: That is amazing. Seriously... [Laughing] Hallelujah!
Rafe: Huh? That's what I'm talkin' about.
Sami: Oh, my God, I'm so happy we're done. And Johnny had better be freakin' thrilled.
Rafe: Well, that's the idea. But you've seen him, the way his eyes light up, and... I had to fix it for him.
Sami: You're a hero... agent handyman.
Rafe: Well, I couldn't have done it without you. There are a lot of things you couldn't do without me.
Rafe: Yeah, I could name a couple.
Sami: I could think of one I would wanna start with.
Maggie: You won't even tell me where he went?
Dmitri: I'm not allowed to divulge that kind of information, ma'am.
Maggie: To me you are. I mean, Victor and I... [Clears throat] We happen to be very close.
Dmitri: Sorry, ma'am.
Maggie: You should be. If you think your boss is gonna be happy when he finds out how unhelpful you've been to me, the woman he loves... he's gonna fire you.
Sonny: So it was Brady?
Chad: He's the one. Sent EJ to the hospital two punches shy of an early grave.
Sonny: Stefano knows this?
Chad: Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah, and what were you muttering about before? What that Victor said was finally making sense?
Sonny: It was just more the way he was acting.
Chad: Well, in my opinion, if this is between EJ and Brady, we should do a little recon of our own, hm? What do you say? Find one of them, or both. Put a stop to this before somebody gets killed.
Sonny: I'm in.
Chad: Let's do this. Start with a rich soil,
[Knocking]
Nicole: Brady.
Taylor: Hey.
Nicole: Hi, Tay.
Taylor: Hey, um... I just wanted you to know, I've got news, EJ--
Nicole: Is walking away. I know, I just saw him.
Taylor: Oh.
Nicole: He says he wants to drop it, the whole revenge thing. I guess it's over.
Taylor: I thought you'd be happy.
Nicole: It's been a long day, Taylor. And it's never easy seeing EJ, even when he is full of good news.
Taylor: Okay, well, I just wanted you to know that he didn't do this because of me. I didn't get to do what you asked me to. I didn't tell him that I wanted him back.
Nicole: Well, I guess that's for the best. It's the result that matters.
Taylor: You know, Nic, somewhere EJ and Brady, they're trying to figure things out and they're trying to move forward.
Nicole: And what? Are-- are you suggesting we do the same?
Taylor: Well, I want that very much. But I'm guessing you don't. Do you?
Maggie: You tell me where Mr. Kiriakis is, and I will be charming and adorable.
Dmitri: Well, take it from me. Where the boss went, you don't belong.
Maggie: Oh, no? Why is that?
[Phone ringing]
Dmitri: Well, I gotta take this. You can let yourself out. Yeah. That's right. The boss already left for that meeting with DiMera. Right, the pier at the chandler street entrance. We're supposed to get going at 9:00.
Maggie: Great. I'll be there too.
Dmitri: Yeah, right, mm-hmm. Okay, no problem.
Stefano: By the time Kiriakis gets here, I want you up those steps, maybe hiding behind those poles, I guess. He says he's coming alone, but he's a born liar.
Marco: Ted and Enzo have the perimeter covered. If he's not alone, they'll know it.
Stefano: Now, just keep your eye on him and make sure you watch every move he makes very closely. 'Cause the old goat may get it in his head to end this himself. Go ahead. [Sighs]
Sami: You know what's really satisfying? I mean, aside from the obvious.
Rafe: What?
Sami: Well, that when we work together, we fix things.
Rafe: I don't know. Got kinda tense there for a moment.
Sami: Yeah, because you were all "hold steady Sami, you're in my light, Sami."
Rafe: You were.
Sami: Maybe, a little bit. But anyway, aside from one minute of tension, it was pure collaboration. We are in sync.
Rafe: In sync, huh?
Sami: Yeah.
Rafe: Really?
Sami: Mm-hmm. So where's the remote? Any requests?
Rafe: Well... I hope there's nothing good on, that's my request.
Sami: You know what?
Rafe: Hmm?
Sami: I think I can state, categorically and with great authority, that there is absolutely nothing... nothing good or interesting on TV right now.
Rafe: Well, in that case.
Sami: Yeah, well, I'm 100% sure.
Victor: Stefano?
Stefano: Ah, you made it.
Victor: I'm here.
Stefano: It's very ironic that you've picked this place for our meeting. This is where it happened, Victor. This is where your precious grandson tried to kill my son.
Taylor: What, so you don't think we can move forward, or you just don't want to?
Nicole: A lot has happened, Taylor.
Taylor: I know, God knows. But I was just thinking that sometimes...you need to just stop looking in the past. Gotta put that behind you and just move forward.
Nicole: For someone as smart as you are...
Taylor: Sounded a little stupid, a little trite? Yeah, okay, you know what? Why don't I just be direct and succinct, and tell you that... I'd like to give the future a shot. Because the future, for me, will be much better with my sister in in my life.
EJ: Thank you for coming, Brady.
Brady: Absolutely. You asked me to jump, I say...
Sonny: That was EJ's car. This way.
EJ: Looks like the word's getting out, so why don't we just get this over with, okay? Here.
Brady: [Sighs]
EJ: Come on. Okay.
Brady: Mm-hmm.
Victor: Stefano, there is no point in re-hashing all the ol--
Stefano: No point in re-hashing? My son was lying here, dying. I almost lost him the way I lost Antony to members of your family. Will you admit what your grandson has done to my son?
Victor: It was provoked!
Stefano: Yes, and he's got to pay, and he will.
Victor: No. Now I want you--
Maggie: Victor!
[Gunshot]
Maggie: [Whimpers]
Carly: You don't get it. You never will.
Quinn: Try me.
EJ: This has to end now!
Victor: You son of a bitch! What have you done?
