Nathan: Oh, don't apologize. You're fine. You're just worried about your grandma. It's normal.

Stephanie: A stroke, Nathan. She can't even sit still, much less have people wait on her. God, she's the most active person I know. This is gonna drive her crazy, break her spirit.

Nathan: Hey, well, listen. I assure you that the hospital is going to do everything in their power to make sure she gets the absolute best care possible.

Stephanie: I know.

Nathan: Hey, isn't it lucky? At least your mom's there with her.

Stephanie: Yeah, really lucky.

Victor: Daniel, I got your message.

Daniel: I need some help.

Victor: Anything.

Daniel: With Chloe.

[Knock at door]

Nicole: Hi, I just wanted to make sure Parker was sleeping.

Chloe: He is. He's such a good boy, such a happy baby.

Nicole: Uh...uh... Chloe, um... did I come at a bad time?

Chloe: No. The time doesn't make any difference.

Nicole: Okay, you're starting to freak me out. What's with the zombie act?

Chloe: I've lost him, Nicole. I've lost Daniel, which means I've lost everything.

EJ: Okay, look. There we go. Before I tell you a story about pirates, there's something important that I want to talk to you about.

Johnny: My eye?

EJ: No, no, no, no. No, no, not your eye, okay, something nice, something that will make you happy. You like Nicole, right? Yeah? You like her a lot? Well, your daddy likes Nicole a lot too, and that's why we're going to get married. Isn't that nice?

Johnny: No!

EJ: Well, but you just told me that you really liked Nicole, so, now, why wouldn't you want your daddy to get married to her, hmm?

Johnny: I don't want another mommy. I want my Mommy.

Sami: [Sighs] Hey, Brady, it's Sami. Yeah. No, no, I want to talk to you about the fight we had the other day when I caught you and Nicole at my apartment making out. Yeah, I mean, I just think it's okay, you know. I understand. You and Nicole need to have time together, and if you want to meet at my place, it's totally okay with me. What EJ doesn't know won't hurt him, right?

Stefano: No, Samantha, not right.

Jennifer: All right, just don't read it. Just don't read it. After what you wrote last time, Jack... mm. Blogged already? 'Cause what you wrote before didn't make me mad enough, now you're gonna make me even madder, Jack? Why? Why do you have to do this right now? Please tell me that. What--[Gasps]

Ben: You know what they say about talking to yourself, right? [Laughs] I'm sorry. I got delayed.

Jennifer: That's okay. I--I wasn't talking to myself. It just so happens the person that I was speaking to doesn't happen to be here right now.

Ben: Ah, the husband, right? What's he done now?

Jennifer: Well, he'll tell you all about it in his blog. Do you want to read it in detail, in excruciating detail?

Ben: Uh...

EJ: Look, I know this is difficult, Johnny, but we talked about this, remember? Your mommy, she wants to live with Rafe in his house, and she wants you to live here with me, and I just thought that it'd be a lot more fun if Nicole came to live with us, you know, because I know you two really, really get on, and I know she loves you very much.

Johnny: She's not my Mommy.

EJ: Listen, listen, I just need you to trust your daddy on this one and know that what I'm doing is the best thing for the family.

Johnny: Do you love Nicole as much as you love Mommy?

EJ: Um... well, that's a--a very interesting... question.

Sami: Hey, I'm gonna have to call you back, 'cause someone is stalking me.

Stefano: Stalking you. That's very good. [Laughs] You know, Elvis has enough evidence to put you in jail, so do you think it's a wise time to line up with Brady and Nicole?

Sami: I don't suppose there's any way to persuade you not to pass on idle gossip to EJ about them.

Stefano: Well, maybe you should be a little more careful about making personal phone calls in public places. Maybe you don't realize, but your voice carries. [Laughs] Ah. La-la-la-la-la la-la-la-la-la

Sami: Hook, line, and sinker. [Laughs]

Roman: Do me a favor. Tell her I was here, okay? I got to check back at the station.

Kayla: Okay, well, do good work. I don't want to have to give her any more bad news.

Roman: You know I will. It's good you're back.

Kayla: Yeah. Mm, I'm just doing a terrific job... [Scoffs] Screaming at her till she has a stroke. Hey, Mom. Hey. Roman was just here. He's gonna come back. And Kimberly called. She--she can't get here, but you're in her thoughts.

Caroline: Stephanie.

Kayla: Stephanie's coming. She's coming. She's on her way.

Caroline: No, no. You got to tell her no, stay away. No.

Kayla: Shh. Hey, no, no, no.

Caroline: Stay--tell her. Tell her. Tell her stay away.

Kayla: Shh, shh, shh. Calm down. Calm down.

Nathan: We'll go straight to the hospital when we get there. It'll be good for you to see her and talk to her, a lot less scary than wondering how she's doing.

Stephanie: I was hoping we'd be married when we got back. I mean, for my grandma's sake, I just thought it would be good medicine for her.

Nathan: Yeah, this is the right thing to do, okay? Just think. I bet you before we know it, she'll be nice and strong, and she'll be at our wedding instead of having to hear about it.

Chloe: It was unreal. We were getting ready to leave the church, and everyone was so happy and smiling, and Daniel was holding Parker, and then Melanie opened the doors to vestibule, and my whole world just blew up. Kayla, I mean, why was she even there?

Nicole: Kayla Brady?

Chloe: Yeah, she was saying that Daniel wasn't Parker's father.

Nicole: Wait. What?

Chloe: Yeah, she was talking to Caroline, and we all heard it, and Philip was trying to get rid of her and make sure that she didn't go anywhere near Daniel, but then she just-- she went berserk, and Caroline, she started screaming about how she had switched the paternity test results and that Philip was the father.

Nicole: Philip? Oh, my God, Chloe. Is that true? And Daniel, he knows now.

Chloe: And Melanie. Oh, God, that woman. Why would she even do it, and... she ruins everyone's life. Oh, and then...

Nicole: There's another "then"?

Chloe: Yeah, she has a stroke.

Nicole: Oh, well, why didn't she have it before she opened her big mouth?

Chloe: Nicole.

Nicole: I mean, that bitch, that trouble making bitch. What does she thinks she's doing, and why in God's name would she switch the results?

Chloe: I had no idea. I mean, and I don't think Daniel believes me, but after the test, I had no idea it was Philip. I mean, I was so happy that Daniel was the father.

Nicole: I know. I know.

Chloe: Now he is so mad, and he's so hurt, and I just don't know if he's gonna get past any of this.

Nicole: Chloe, he's not, not ever.

Victor: You want me to help with Chloe?

Daniel: I probably should be having this conversation with Philip, but I'm not so sure I wouldn't, you know, just kill him.

Victor: Look, I told you and I told him about Chloe. She is a one-woman plague.

Daniel: Okay, do not go off on her. I really think we need to just keep this clinical and detached.

Victor: What does that mean?

Daniel: I want to know that someone is gonna look after Chloe, and seeing as how Philip's track record isn't exactly stellar...

Victor: Now, just hold on here.

Daniel: The last time he fathered a child, he got rid of it like a used tissue. I do not want Chloe saddled with a baby without some financial support from the Kiriakis family.

Victor: Well, I'm sorry, Daniel.

Daniel: He placed the order, Victor. He can pick up the bill.

Victor: That's just not gonna happen.

Sami: Rafe? Perfect. Okay. Nothing screams "Nicole Walker" like sparkly trash. Oh, God. Okay, so EJ has already heard about my little pretend phone call. Where should I put this? He'll come. He'll find this right here-- no, that's too much-- and he'll have no choice but to throw that whore out. [Exhales]

Chloe: Don't say that.

Nicole: Chloe, look what happened to him. I mean, you really think Daniel can just get past this? There is a sleeping baby in that room that is a constant reminder of what you and Philip did.

Chloe: He loves Parker. He's named after Daniel's mother.

Nicole: Mm, yeah, see, that just makes it worse, not better.

Chloe: No, it proves that I did think he was the father and that I wasn't trying to hurt him.

Nicole: Chloe, come on. Try and see it from his point of view. Look, Philip and Melanie were married when you hit the sheets, and you not only had another man's baby, but you slept with his daughter's husband.

Chloe: But I thought that Daniel was with Carly, and Philip thought that Melanie was with Nathan.

Nicole: [Sighs] All right, let me put it to you another way. Let's say Daniel ended up with Carly and, just like you and Philip, it was a big mistake, only Daniel got Carly pregnant. Would you want to raise that kid? And let's throw in that the whole town would know about the baby and that Daniel cheated on you.

Chloe: Why are you being so mean?

Nicole: Because you have got to wake up. You've got to stop being sweet, dreamy Chloe and hope that Daniel will get past it. You have got to take care of yourself and that baby, and you have got to do it alone.

EJ: It's--it's hard to talk about how much you love someone, but I can tell you that I love the part of Nicole that takes very good care of you and your sister, and I love that she always puts you and Sydney first. Listen, Tiger, why don't you go upstairs and take a little nap, okay? When you get done with that, we will go and buy you a suit that you can wear at the wedding, all right? And then we'll talk about things in the car, okay?

Johnny: Okay. Daddy's getting married, not to Mommy.

Stefano: [Sighs]

EJ: He will be fine, okay?

Stefano: Oh, yes, I can see that.

EJ: Just... don't start, all right?

Stefano: Look, I'm afraid I have some news that is pertinent. Now, you can work as hard as you want to try to convince yourself or paint Nicole as the mother of the year, but she is still seeing Brady and not for tips about child care.

Ben: Uh, well, it's, um... it's detailed.

Jennifer: Yes, it's detailed about his feelings, his feelings about desert sunsets and salamanders. Not once does he mention his children.

Ben: Or you. Look, having done a walkabout, I guess what I want to say is that it... it's a process, you know? I mean, maybe this is good for him. Maybe--maybe he'll start thinking about his children, about you, after he's figured out other things.

Jennifer: Oh, gosh. Well, I really hope it all works out for him. Does being a husband or a father impede this process?

Ben: You know, I don't know you all that well, but I get the impression that you might be through with this guy.

EJ: I'm sorry. What did you just say?

Stefano: That Nicole's candle is lit at both ends. See, while you were trying to convince Giovanni that she should be his new mommy, I overheard Samantha on the telephone with Brady, and she was saying to him that she doesn't mind that there's no problem with he and Nicole using her apartment, all right, for their nido d'amore.

EJ: Hmm. I see. Would you, um... have Mary look after the children, please? There's a call I need to make.

Kayla: Mom, you need to calm down, please.

Caroline: Don't let... do what I say. Don't let Stephanie come home.

Kayla: I--I can't stop her. She's on her way.

Caroline: Well, then send her back to Nathan.

Kayla: No, Nathan is coming with her.

Caroline: Oh! Then... you promise me to keep... her out of this. Swear... you will keep her out of it.

Woman: Ladies and gentlemen, we should be landing in Salem in about five minutes.

Nathan: Here we go. You're gonna feel a lot better once you see and talk to your grandmother, all right?

Stephanie: I hope you're right.

Chloe: Nicole, it's beautiful, but Parker only wore a dress for the christening. It was a one-shot deal.

Nicole: Oh, I'm--I'm so sorry. That stupid clerk. Okay, this was for Sydney. She wrapped the wrong thing. I'm so sorry.

Chloe: Sydney? What, you're still buying presents for Sydney even though you're not allowed anywhere near her?

Nicole: Actually, things have changed.

Chloe: What do you mean?

Nicole: I've--I've moved back into the DiMera mansion. Just to spend time with Sydney and Johnny too.

Chloe: Really? I mean, not that I'm not thrilled that you get to see Sydney, but I thought EJ was never gonna forgive you.

Nicole: Actually, there's more. We're getting married.

Chloe: That's wonderful.

Nicole: Oh, well, you know, it's not exactly Romeo and Juliet or anything. It's more like... Chloe, what's wrong?

Chloe: Well, don't you see? If--if EJ can forgive you and all the things that you did, then Daniel is definitely gonna have to forgive me too.

[Knock at door]

Sami: You made great time, EJ. No traffic? EJ... what are you doing here?

EJ: You know what, Samantha? I think you already really answered that.

Sami: Really? 'Cause I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

Kayla: So how'd it go down at the station?

Roman: [Exhales] Not good. She could be facing some serious charges for switching those test results.

Kayla: Well, don't tell her that.

Roman: Oh, really? Really? Well, you know what? I thought that might be just the thing to cheer her up.

Kayla: Well, aren't you in a great mood?

Roman: All right, I'm sorry. I am, but you know what, Kayla? I don't know. Just something about this whole damn mess bothers me.

Kayla: What?

Roman: I don't know, but I do know something more happened than Ma is letting us in on.

Daniel: Look, I know that you hate Chloe, but has it slipped your mind that that's Philip's son, your grandson?

Victor: Just hold your horses, okay?

Daniel: No, what is all this crap you spew about family, and now you're ready to hang your grandson out to dry like Philip had nothing to do with it?

Victor: Damn it, Daniel. I want to help that baby. I... I just can't, not financially, anyway.

Daniel: What, on moral grounds?

Victor: Vivian has executed perhaps the most hostile takeover I've ever seen. She controls all of Titan's cash and assets. I can't get a dime out of her.

Daniel: You're kidding me, right?

Victor: I wish I were.

Daniel: You let her take over your company?

Victor: I didn't let her. Look, we're working on it. Hopefully it's only temporary. As soon as we get everything straightened out, I'll set up a trust fund for Parker.

Daniel: [Sighs]

Victor: It is what you want, isn't it?

Daniel: It's just not a lot of fun to hear Philip's son called by my mother's name.

Victor: Look, I'm sorry, Daniel. You didn't deserve any of this.

Daniel: No? I wonder if Lucas would agree with that.

Nicole: Honey, please. Don't get sentimental about me and EJ, okay? This isn't the happy ending you think it is.

Chloe: But you said you're getting married. After all the things you did, EJ trusts you again.

Nicole: [Scoffs] Trusts me? This marriage isn't about trust. It's about sticking it to Sami Brady.

EJ: Do you really think that my father would overhear a conversation with you aiding and abetting Nicole and Brady in their sordid little affair and not tell me?

Sami: This may come as a shock to you, but sometimes your father lies, 'cause that's who he is. I love my brother. I would never want him to get involved with Nicole. I think less of her than you do.

EJ: Hmm? Oh, I doubt that.

Sami: [Scoffs] Besides, I--I mean, they have kids here. How could they... how could they--you know what? I'm not even gonna have this conversation with you right now. You're leaving. Get out, EJ. I don't want you in my house. Rafe doesn't want you in his house, so you need... what are you doing?

EJ: Wow, look at this. Cheap and obvious, so... clear that's Brady's taste.

Sami: No, it's mine. I--

EJ: No, no, no, no. Samantha, I think you've lied to me enough today, don't you? Thank you.

Ben: Okay.

Jennifer: You know, I'm just thinking it's not a good idea for me to read Jack's blog anymore. I mean, it just makes me a little...

Ben: Angry?

Jennifer: Well, I was gonna say homicidal, but you know what? We're not gonna talk about him anymore. That's it. I'm done.

Ben: Okay. Okay, let's talk about you.

Jennifer: No. All we do is talk about me. I want to talk about you. All I know about you is that you're a doctor.

Ben: Well, that might be because that's all there is to know. I am--I am... I'm somewhat obsessive about it. It's--it's pretty much my whole life.

Jennifer: That's so interesting, because you went on a walkabout. I mean, that kind of break doesn't seem like a workaholic thing to do.

Ben: Well, it's funny you say that, because when I was out there all alone, all I thought about was medicine 24-7. I kind of realized I couldn't fight it, so I came back, and I've been working nonstop ever since.

Jennifer: You really love it.

Ben: I do, but it can also be very frustrating. It drives me crazy when I know that I can save a patient's life if I could just get my hands on the organs that he or she needs.

Jennifer: Well, I mean, let me know if there's anything that I can do to help. I mean, anything I can do without dying.

Ben: [Laughs]

Kayla: Um, why would you think that?

Roman: Well, I talked to Carly Manning.

Kayla: Oh, well, there's a reliable source.

Roman: Yeah, I get your point, but I think, in this case, she just might be reliable. She told me that when Chloe took the paternity test, she used an alias, so how did ma know that she was taking tests in the first place?

Kayla: Well, you know mom. Where there's a will, there's a way.

Roman: Yeah, but how did she even know that paternity was a question? I mean, somebody had to tell her something.

Kayla: Stephanie.

Roman: What?

Kayla: I'm glad you're back, baby.

[Laughs]

Victor: Look, I don't know what else to say, except... well, don't worry about the baby. He's not your problem.

Daniel: [Scoffs] He's not my problem? He's real. He's a real, live human being.

Victor: You love him, don't you?

Daniel: No. No. I thought I did. I thought he was the sun and the moon, but after the christening, I just flipped the off switch. Yeah, he's not my kid, so why would I give a damn?

Victor: It would be a lot easier for you if that were true.

Nicole: Oh, sorry to disturb you.

Stefano: No, no, no, no, no, no, don't go. Come in. Come in. Come in. You know, you and I should have a little chat.

Nicole: I don't think we have anything to talk about.

Stefano: Oh, really? I think there's all kinds of things to talk about, you know, like, for instance, um, are you going to have a white wedding? Are you going to keep your own name? Is it fun doing Brady at Samantha Brady's house?

Nicole: Oh senile one, since your son and I have pledged our troth, I'm not seeing Brady anymore. EJ and I are determined to make this marriage work the second time around.

Stefano: Hmm. Now, you can call me all the names you want, but in a few moments, Elvis is gonna know everything that you are up to, so I was wondering perhaps you would like me to get Mary to go upstairs and help you pack.

Nicole: You listen to me, old man. I have given up almost everything that matters to me to be with Sydney, and since I've done that, I'm not going anywhere.

EJ: You really think that if Nicole had met Brady here that I wouldn't have known about that, right? Come on, props, you know, and this is quite a little production that you have going on here. But unfortunately, Samantha, I know everywhere that Nicole's been since we got engaged.

Sami: Oh, really? You're having her followed? Trust your fiancé that much? Match made in heaven.

EJ: Actually, we're very happy, and you're not about to screw that up.

Sami: How could I, couple of soul mates like you?

EJ: You know, Samantha, you might want to ask yourself a question. If I knew that Nicole and Brady weren't hooking up here, why did I go to the time and the trouble to come over here anyway, hmm?

Sami: You wanted to ask me to do a reading at the wedding?

EJ: That's good. No. I wanted to ask you to back off. Nicole has a lot on her plate at the moment. She has a wedding to organize. She also has her children to raise.

Sami: They're my children.

EJ: No, they are your children for now, unless you cross a line, unless I change my mind.

Sami: And who cares, right, about Sydney and Johnny? Who cares about their happiness?

EJ: Well, maybe you should have thought about that before you put a bullet into daddy's brain.

Chloe: Daniel. I had a dream that you were coming back to us. Am I dreaming now?

Daniel: No.

Chloe: Are you coming back to us?

Stefano: Oh-ho, I must say that your self-absorption is truly staggering. You say that you are willing to give up everything to move back into this mansion and then also take my son's name and, more important, help raise his children.

Nicole: I have.

Stefano: Well, all right, then. Tell me something. Aren't you going to be upset when Elvis comes back from Samantha's and kicks you out? Hmm? You would have given up everything for nothing.

Nicole: So Sami's mixed up in this, huh? Surprise, surprise.

Stefano: Mm, you know, they were stupid enough to-- what is that awful saying? Hook up with Brady, but to hook up with him in Samantha's house, that is truly moronic.

Nicole: So Sami spilled the beans, huh?

Stefano: Mm-hmm. That's right. The jig, as they say, is up.

Nicole: [Sighs] See this, Stefano?

Stefano: Uh-huh.

Nicole: Beautiful, isn't it?

Stefano: Beautiful.

Nicole: Yeah, it was a gift from your son.

Stefano: Uh-huh.

Nicole: It's chic. It's delicate. It's a tracking device.

Stefano: [Laughs]

Nicole: [Groans] So yes, I have given up everything, my freedom, my dignity, my right to accessorize. So yes, EJ knows where I've been, and he knows that I haven't been anywhere near Brady. So, Stefano, when you've been duped by Sami, maybe you shouldn't throw around the word "moronic."

Sami: You think with everything our son is going through right now, recovering, trying to adjust to his new life, you think it's okay to put Nicole in the mix just to get revenge against me?

EJ: I think Nicole is a wonderful mother. I think Johnny adores her.

Sami: Johnny is scared and lonely right now, so of course he's gonna latch on to anyone. And Nicole is being on her best behavior for you, but that's not gonna last. She's Nicole, and you know better than anyone that she can't be trusted. She's a ticking bomb, and the next time she goes off, she could be in front of our children.

EJ: Well, see, I have Nicole in something of a... a self-improvement program. She understands that there are certain standards that are expected if she's gonna be Johnny and Sydney's mother.

Sami: She's not their mother. I am.

EJ: Well, even if I can't get her to improve upon herself, see, as long as she doesn't play to the dark side of her persona, she'll be a much better mother than you.

Kayla: It's good you're here.

Stephanie: Is it?

Nathan: Yeah, I'll let you guys catch up.

Kayla: Yeah.

Stephanie: How did this happen?

Kayla: I'm afraid the truth came out--the whole truth.

Jennifer: No, I'm serious. I have a lot of time on my hands right now. I could volunteer, maybe do some paperwork.

Ben: [Laughs] Well, first of all, thank you, but I'm afraid the problem isn't with staffing. It's just a lack of donors. [Pager beeping] Excuse me.

Jennifer: Oh.

Ben: Ah, I'm sorry. I have to get back to the hospital.

Jennifer: Oh, okay. That's--that's fine. Really, it's okay.

Ben: But listen, I--well, not by me. I'd like to get to know you better. Maybe we can do this again sometime.

Jennifer: Yeah. Yeah, I'd like that.

Ben: Great, me too. I'll see you soon.

Jennifer: Okay.

Daniel: I haven't come back. I've come to say good-bye.

Chloe: No. Think about Parker. He needs you.

Daniel: I, um... I've got you a furnished apartment for the next few months, and for right now, I'm going to... I'm gonna leave you here.

Chloe: No, please. This is our home.

Daniel: Not anymore. Good-bye, Chloe.

Stephanie: The truth is out. What do you mean by that?

Maxine: Stephanie, honey.

Stephanie: Hi, Maxine.

Maxine: I'm so sorry you had to come back like this. Your mom's MRI results are back if you want to see them.

Kayla: Okay. I have to go. I'll be right back.

Stephanie: [Sighs] How did it get to this?

Nathan: Well, I guess I don't have to ask why you're upset. The truth, it's all over the hospital.

Sami: You know, you might want to have Lexie re-examine you. That bullet obviously did some serious brain damage if you think that Nicole can actually change. 'Cause you can offer her domestic bliss. You can offer Nicole to be Sydney's mother. But Nicole is gonna want it all. She's at her best when she's, like, going after what she wants, and right now, she wants Brady. So you can keep her in that mansion, but her--let's be generous and call it her heart-- will always be across town with Brady.

EJ: Oh, I don't really care where her heart is. Her butt, however, will be upstairs looking after my kids.

Sami: You're an idiot. There is no foolproof way of keeping Nicole from Brady.

EJ: Hmm, actually, you know, I think there is.

Stefano: [Laughing] A tracking device. You know, I'm surprised that Elvis didn't have you branded at the same time.

Nicole: Joke all you want, Stefano. Sneer at me. I don't care. If the fact that Johnny and Sydney love me enough for me to stomach this, then I can stomach you, and I can face the truth. I am not their mommy, and I never will be, but somehow, I'm the next best thing, and by marrying EJ, I am promising to take care of those children, to protect them, to keep them safe, which is more than can be said of Sami.
