Will: Mom, are you sure?

Stephanie: You're back soon.

Kayla: Well, Sister Ann had to reschedule again. I don't know, something came up. We're gonna try to meet later this afternoon.

Stephanie: Oh. Right.

Kayla: Okay. What's goin' on?

Stephanie: Well...the paternity test...it may not even be important anymore.

Kayla: Why not?

Stephanie: Melanie found out that Chloe cheated on her father.

Kayla: What?

Stephanie: Mm-hmm. She doesn't know who with, but it doesn't even matter, because she's probably at Daniel and Chloe's wedding right now making sure it doesn't even happen.

Judge: Dearly beloved, we are gathered here on this beautiful morning for the wedding--

Melanie: Stop! Stop. I'm sorry. I have something to say, and you're not gonna like it.

Daniel: Mel, wh-what is going on?

Melanie: I need to talk to Chloe alone.

Daniel: You need to talk to Chloe now? What is this about?

Melanie: What do you think, Chloe...alone or publicly?

EJ: I know. Apparently, I am... healed.

Ben: Uh, not healed, EJ, but you are well enough. But remember, no heavy physical activity, no alcohol, no excitement.

EJ: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I will be the epitome of dull.

[Laughter]

Man: Hi. EJ DiMera?

EJ: Just...give me the document.

Man: You've been served.

Stefano: What is that? Wait, wait, what is that all about? Come back here--what--

Lexie: What's that? What is it?

EJ: It's just a document. It's, uh...[Clears throat] It's paperwork saying I can't see the children until we have a hearing in a family court.

Sami: Of course, I'm sure. Look, EJ doesn't have anything to go on, and he never will. He is never going to be able to prove that I'm the one who shot him.

[Light clatter]

Will: What was that?

Sami: Sounded like it came from over here.

[Cell phone rings]

Will: You know, maybe the wind is...moving something--

Sami: Hang on, hang on. Hey. Rafe, what's up?

Rafe: Hey. I need to see you right away. Can you meet me back at the loft?

Sami: Yeah, we're just down at the pier. Will and I grabbed some lunch.

Rafe: Good. Make sure he comes with you.

Sami: Okay. See you soon.

Will: What'd he say?

Sami: Uh, Rafe needs us to get back to the loft. He wants to talk to us. Come on.

Will: Okay.

Arianna: Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Sami shot EJ! And Rafe loves her. Oh, God, what do I do? [Whispering]

Maggie: Melanie seemed upset. I think I'm gonna see if she's all right.

Victor: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. What happened to "observe from a distance and interfere only when absolutely necessary"?

Maggie: I'm not sure I like being around someone who can remember everything I say.

Victor: Well, better get used to it.

Brady: Melanie stopped the wedding. What--what the hell is going on?

Nicole: I don't know, but obviously, it's important.

Daniel: I hope they can work it out.

Philip: Yeah. Maybe I should go talk to them.

Daniel: No, no, no, just hang on, hang on. If Chloe said yes, I'm sure she's okay with it. Let them talk it through.

Chloe: Nicole just blurted it out, okay, and sometimes she just makes things up so fast that I can't even keep up--

Melanie: You were standing right there. I mean, you could have just said, "Daniel, that's not true. I never said Melanie's not a part of our real family."

Chloe: I know, and I am really sorry. I-I was just so stressed out, I couldn't even think.

Melanie: Right. Because you're too busy juggling all your other lies, like cheating on my dad.

Chloe: God, that was one time. One time, okay? And I swear, I love your dad more than anything in this whole world. All I wanna do is make him happy. Now, Melanie, please... I know that I made a really horrible mistake. But you have to believe that I will never do anything to hurt Daniel ever again. Now, this is your dad's child inside of me. Please...don't ruin all of our futures.

Stefano: I cannot believe how cruel that bitch can be. You are barely out of your deathbed, and she slaps you with a court order?

Lexie: Okay, would you stop yelling, all right? Although I agree this wasn't the time or the place to serve papers. Look, I'll...I'll be back. I'm going to get the prescriptions you'll need.

Stefano: All right, fine. Don't let this get to you, Elvis, all right? We will find another judge, huh? You will see Giovanni and Sydney again.

EJ: Father, with the proof the police have that I kidnapped Sydney, it's not bloody likely.

Stefano: I thought you said that recording that Hernandez has could never be used in court.

EJ: No, it can't be used in a criminal court, no. No, it can't. But a family court is a completely different matter, Father. Unless I can prove that Samantha shot me, I'm never going to see my children again.

Stefano: Don't say that. Do not say that. There is a way...and we will find it.

[Door opens]

Sami: Hey.

Will: Hi. How's it going?

Rafe: Good. Good, thanks. Glad you're here, Will. You need to be in on this too.

Sami: In on what?

Rafe: The fact that I'm out. I resigned from the FBI today.

Will: What? Why?

Rafe: Because I need to be able to protect your mother, and I can't do that and be an agent at the same time.

Sami: Rafe, I still can't believe that you did that.

Rafe: Sam, you need to listen to me, okay? Now, the DiMeras are gonna be coming with everything they got. If they think that you're the one who shot EJ, they're gonna come after you, and I can't be playing by the rules, waiting for them to pick and choose when they're gonna do that.

Will: Wait, I-isn't it possible that maybe they won't find out?

Rafe: That depends how good you are at keeping a secret. No one--and I mean no one--can ever find out that you shot EJ.

Kayla: And you didn't realize that Melanie was there.

Stephanie: No. I was so intent on what Nathan was saying, and he was so hung up about it that we didn't realize anyone else was around.

Kayla: Are you sure... that you didn't know that she could hear you?

Stephanie: Yes, I'm sure. Look, I know you think I'm probably still acting crazy, always worried that Nathan's gonna dump me and try to manipulate things, but I didn't set this up. Frankly, I wish it had never happened, and so does Nathan.

Kayla: I bet Melanie went ballistic.

Stephanie: Yeah. Nathan said she really lit into him... [Sighs] And then stormed off to confront Chloe. God knows what she said to her. If Melanie stops this wedding, Mom...

Kayla: Then Daniel will know everything.

Stephanie: Absolutely. He may even find out that the guy was Philip.

Kayla: Well, you know, actually...

Stephanie: What?

Kayla: It might be better if this wedding doesn't happen.

Melanie: You can't possibly think I will ever forgive you, because you're not that dumb.

Chloe: I know. But all I'm asking you... is that you let me give Daniel his child... and you let me make him happy.

EJ: Let's just try to be realistic.

Stefano: I am being realistic. There is no way any stupid court order is gonna keep you away from your children!

Lexie: Father...calm down! All right? This has caused EJ enough stress for one day. He doesn't need you adding to it.

Stefano: You're right. I'm sorry. I'm, uh... gonna go phone our driver to meet us in front, all right?

Lexie: Try not to let him upset you, okay?

EJ: Hmm? No. It's fine. No. If he didn't rant and rave on a regular basis, I'd think something was wrong with him.

Lexie: [Laughs] Yeah. You've got a point there. [Ahem] I understand...you're getting your memory back.

EJ: Yeah. I remember everything...pretty much. Kidnapping Sydney. Tormenting everybody.

[Lexie sighs]

EJ: The fact that I fell in love with her again, not really much for an excuse, is it?

Lexie: Mm-mm. So you understand why she wants to keep the kids.

EJ: Oh, of course, I do. She's doing exactly the same thing that I would do. I kept her daughter from her, so she keeps my children from me.

Lexie: Yep. But I-I think I know Sami well enough to know that this isn't gonna last forever. Pretty soon she'll realize that keeping Johnny and Sydney away from you...mm-mm. It's not good for them.

EJ: Maybe.

Arianna: Okay...Sami shot EJ. Oh, God. Rafe, he...he loves her. He wants to marry her. Right. But EJ has always stood by me, so he needs to know. He needs to know right now. No, no, no, no, no. Can't do this on the phone. No, no, no, I'm just gonna-- I'm gonna go to him, and I'm gonna speak to him. I'm gonna see him face-to-face. [Under breath] That's what I'm gonna do, face-to-face.

Daniel: Everything okay?

Melanie: Yeah. I, um... just had to get some things off my chest.

Chloe: I'm glad that you did.

Melanie: Right. Are we gonna do this thing?

Daniel: Yes. All right, people. I think we're actually gonna do this. Well, God knows it hasn't been easy finding our way here today. But... we're getting married, finally. We made it. Because through all of it, we... always had our love. True love. And I never imagined I could feel this much joy. I love you. Today, tomorrow... forever.

Chloe: And I know that I haven't always been a perfect partner for you. Um...but today I know just to trust... in you and in our love and...we're gonna be just fine. I've never been happier than I am right now. And I love you so much.

Judge: Beautifully spoken, Chloe. Do we have the rings?

Daniel: Yes, we do.

Judge: Okay, Daniel... if you'll take Chloe's left hand, place the ring on her finger, and repeat after me. "I, Daniel, take you, Chloe, to be my lawfully wedded wife."

Judge: Thanks to you both. Now, by the power vested in me, I pronounce you husband and wife. Dr. Jonas, you may kiss the bride.

Philip: You okay?

Melanie: Yeah.

Philip: I guess you didn't tell Daniel.

Melanie: No. Which makes me just as bad as my mom.

Arianna: E-- maybe this is good. [Under breath] This could be good. Oh. Excuse me. Hi.

Ben: Hi.

Arianna: Um... has EJ been sent home?

Ben: Yes. Is there something I can help you with?

Arianna: No. No, absolutely not.

[Hurrying footsteps]

Lexie: Um, I'm gonna go talk to the nurse and the staff about EJ's medications.

Stefano: I'll go with you.

Lexie: Father, I can handle it.

Stefano: Trust me, if I stand behind you, they'll memorize every word you say.

Lexie: [Sighs] Okay, look, you try to rest, okay?

EJ: Yes, Doctor.

Lexie: Okay.

Sami: Anything I felt for you, you killed! You destroyed it with what you did. I mean, I can't believe you! I'm taking my kids, and I'm getting out of here... and I swear to God, EJ, I will make sure that you never see your children again!

Sami: Yeah, uh, Grandma, hi. Sorry. Are they causing problems for you?

Rafe: So right now, we need to have each other's backs.

Will: Yeah. Protect Mom.

Rafe: Right.

Sami: Of course. That's no problem. Yeah, I can only imagine what you're thinking, will. You know Rafe. You know that he's always been on the right side of the law, always fair and...honest, and you're wondering how he could do something like this.

Rafe: Protect the woman I love?

Sami: Protect the woman who tried to murder the father of two of her children.

Will: Yeah, it's a little hard to wrap my head around.

Sami: I mean, you're just throwing it all away... everything that's important to you, and you know what, Rafe? I am not gonna let you do it.

Stephanie: Why would it be better if there was no wedding?

Kayla: Because then everyone would have to deal with what's real...not all these lies and secrets.

Stephanie: Well, sometimes what you don't know can't hurt you.

Kayla: No, no. Usually, it just hurts you later. Look, I know that you are worried that Nathan will leave you for Melanie if she breaks up with Philip. But you know what? You need to take a long, hard look at the truth.

Stephanie: Which is?

Kayla: Nathan loves you!

Stephanie: I know that. I know. But in the back of my mind... there's always that "what if." I mean, what if Melanie forgives Nathan?

Kayla: He will still love you. Listen, he is not Philip or Chloe or any of that bunch. He's Nathan Horton, for God's sakes. I think his word means something.

Stephanie: [Sighs] You're right. But I still hope Melanie doesn't stop that wedding.

Kayla: Sweetie pie... it is out of your hands. If Melanie wants the truth to come out, so be it.

Stephanie: What about the paternity test?

Kayla: [Scoffs] What about it?

Maggie: I'm so thrilled for Daniel. Look at his smile. What?

Victor: Well, I just hope he's ready for the heartburn coming his way.

Maggie: Victor, could you try not to be negative on their wedding day? At least wait until tomorrow.

Victor: Chloe just keeps popping up in this family. So does Nicole. They're like a couple of bad pennies.

Brady: I'm so happy for you.

Daniel: Yes.

Brady: You're a lucky man.

Carly: Wait, please.

Melanie: We don't really have anything else to talk about.

Carly: We can try.

Melanie: Why?

Sami: Well, they really wore out their welcome at the pub. Grandma said that Allie kept wanting to help her make pies and Johnny insisted on practicing his running.

Rafe: [Laughs] You think Will's gonna be able to get them to sleep?

Sami: Oh, are you kidding? He has the magic touch and, um, I think he's gonna be okay for a while.

Rafe: Good. Good. That way we can talk about what's going on.

Sami: I meant what I said. I'm not gonna let you just... throw everything away, your-- your future, your career.

Rafe: Well, it's beyond that. It's done. I'm no longer FBI.

Sami: What do you mean, it's done? You didn't even ask me before you made that huge decision.

Rafe: Well, you didn't ask me when you decided to try and blow EJ's head off, now, did you?

Sami: That's why I didn't want to involve you...or Will! I didn't want either of you to know!

Rafe: All right, well, it's too late. I do, and you're crazy if you think I'm gonna let you go through this alone.

Sami: I'm the one who pulled the trigger. Rafe, I did it, and I don't see why you and Will have to risk everything to try to help me.

Rafe: Why? Well...because we love you. Okay?

Sami: And I love you. I love you so much, and that is why I wish I hadn't told you, and I hadn't gotten you involved.

Rafe: Well...

Sami: But...but there's just no evidence against me, right? I mean, no one can prove anything.

Rafe: Evidence, prove--wait. Are...you serious right now? Sami, we are talking about the DiMeras, okay? Now, it's only a matter of time before they connect the dots. My job is to make sure that they don't connect them to you or Will.

Stefano: Ah. I decided to let Alexandra... take care of things without me. [Paper rustles] So... you are home now, Elvis, hmm? With your family. And we are gonna make sure that you get your children back. What are you thinking?

EJ: What do you think I'm thinking? I'm thinking I miss my children desperately, Father. I'm... I'm thinking...

Brady: Daniel looked very happy today, didn't he?

Nicole: They both did.

Brady: You know what? We need to get back to the house and deal with our little project.

Nicole: Oh, yes, good old Vivian.

Victor: What about my ex-wife?

Brady: Ah, Grandfather, I was just commenting on how beautiful the wedding was and how fortunate it was that the old witch didn't come in and ruin it the way she did Melanie's and Philip's.

Nicole: And, of course, when Brady said witch, naturally, I said Vivian. Ha. Who else? Anyway, if you'll excuse me, I'd like to say good-bye to Chloe and Daniel before they head off on their honeymoon.

Brady: What?

Victor: Well, I see you're still thick as thieves with Nicole.

[Loud throat clearing]

Victor: Hmm. Yes. Well, uh, watch your back, boy.

Brady: I always do.

Maggie: Victor, it's, uh, getting late. I'd like you to take me home.

Victor: My pleasure.

Daniel: All right, come on. Something's going on. Somebody spill.

Melanie: Uh, no. Carly and I just had a disagreement, that's all.

Daniel: Yeah? About?

Carly: You know what, it's between Melanie and me, and we just have to work through a few things...right? So we can talk later.

Nicole: Hey, Chloe. You did it.

Chloe: Yeah.

Nicole: Okay, well, big smiles, huh, I mean... it's not every day someone dodges a bullet like that.

Chloe: I know, I know. I'll always be grateful to Melanie for that. She could have destroyed my whole life, and she didn't.

Nicole: Yeah. What's up with that?

Stefano: So you did suffer brain damage! This proves it! Oh, my God! I--ha ha--I have no doubt whatsoever in my mind.

EJ: Leave me alone.

Stefano: Elvis, what the hell is the matter with you? You are rhapsodizing about a woman who wants you dead, who even tried maybe to put a bullet in your brain!

EJ: Father, if she did put a bullet in my brain, I got exactly what I deserved.

Stefano: Forget damage. You have lost your mind completely!

EJ: I ripped her heart out, you know. I took her baby's bloody clothes. I put them in a river, and I told her she was dead. If she did pull the trigger, I got exactly what I deserved.

Stefano: Do you deserve this? Hmm? Never to see your children again? Being raised by that murderous whore?

Sami: You have no idea how much it means to me-- everything you're doing for me and what you've already done... I mean, you quit the FBI--

Rafe: There's no need to thank me...okay? There's no regrets. I love you. Besides...it's kind of important that you and Will have protection, isn't it?

Sami: We haven't, uh... talked about how you feel about...you know. The horrible thing I did.

Maggie: Seriously, Victor... just let this thing between Nicole and Brady play itself out. I'm sure it'll be short-lived.

Victor: No, Maggie, that's where you're wrong.

Stephanie: Mom, that paternity test is still important.

Kayla: Why? Look, what if Daniel isn't the father? Or what if he is? What if the hospital made a legitimate mistake but then they corrected it. Or what if a hacker got in there, and he changed the results? Is it really that important right now?

Stephanie: So you're not gonna check with Sister Ann about the test?

Kayla: Sure, I'll check with her, but you know what? I may come up empty.

Stephanie: Actually, the baby probably is Daniel's. Right? I mean, the people who knew about the test, they-- they didn't know how to switch the results.

Carly: Where's Melanie?

Philip: Uh, she got a text from her father asking her to come to his apartment before he leaves.

Carly: Great. Thank you.

Philip: Uh, Carly, wait. I'm really sorry about this. I know you were just trying to protect Chloe. You shouldn't have to lose your daughter over something like this.

Carly: No, I deserved it. I thought I could lie to protect Chloe, but I was wrong, and now I may have lost one of the most important people in my life.

Philip: Not gonna happen to me. I will not lose Melanie. No way in hell.

Chloe: Oh! I can't stop smiling.

Daniel: Then don't, 'cause it lights up the room, baby.

Chloe: You know what, if we don't hurry up, we're gonna miss this plane.

[Knock at door]

Daniel: You know what, I'll get that. You go check the bags, and I'll pick 'em up in a second, okay?

Melanie: Yeah.

Daniel: Hey, listen... I'm not gonna push it, but... did you and Chloe work things out?

Melanie: Mm-hmm.

Daniel: Look... I know what was said about your not being my real daughter. It was extremely hurtful. But like I said before, Chloe don't believe that. She adores you. And you know what I also believe? The two of you are going to have a great relationship as time goes on. You... once you guys get to know each other.

Melanie: Yeah. Um...a great relationship. [Sighs] Dad...

Nicole: So... the wedding was great. And everything. Except I-I kept having these flashes, you know, of EJ and Sydney. A-a better time, anyway. And I--I just kept thinking if I had another chance to do it all over--

Brady: I get it. I get it. Nicole, when I married Chloe way back when, I thought my future was set. I thought that's what it was gonna be, and it didn't turn out that way. That's okay. I mean, there's other things to concentrate on now, right?

Nicole: Yes. So...forget about the past. So should we...check on Vivian and see what that old bat's up to?

Vivian: You know, the problem with getting involved with Nicole, it's not just trouble. It's disaster. It's a catastrophe. Much more so for the person she's involved with than for her.

[Knock at door]

Sami: What about you? And your career? I have wrecked it! I have wrecked your entire future!

EJ: Make no mistake, Father. I will not allow Samantha to take my children away from me. Doesn't matter what kind of evidence she has. We will find a way to win.

[Doorbell rings]
