Nicole: And so tonight, Arianna Hernandez can come back here to this place she calls home, a squalid room over a cheap bar, free on bail. And yes, despite the overwhelming forensic evidence against her, she is once again free on bail. And one can only wonder if the series of savage, inhuman, and perverted muggings will continue. This is Nicole DiMera reporting the latest news in Salem. And please, stay safe.

Cameraman: So fair, so balanced.

Nicole: Oh, up yours.

Cameraman: Thought you weren't even gonna do this story.

Nicole: You know, I didn't wanna cover it, because I didn't want it to be true. Just go back to the station and try not to get mugged.

Cameraman: More fun than working with you.

Nicole: Hey, I heard that. [Sigh]

Richard: Okay, so you didn't get EJ to tell you about his proof that you framed Ms. Hernandez?

Nicole: No, all he keeps saying to me in his pompous DiMera way is I'm not gonna know what hits me or when. I'm not gonna let you get me, EJ. Even if Baker won't help me. I'm not gonna let you throw me back in that hell hole. [Sighs]

EJ: Did Nicole say I posted Arianna's bail? Uh-huh. Did she talk about the evidence against her? Right. Hey listen, you keep following her. I want to know everything she says, everything she does, do you understand me? Everything.

Stefano: So...you're having Nicole followed. [Clears throat]

EJ: Keeping the pressure on her till she makes a mistake.

Stefano: Well, how long do you think she's gonna stay rattled, hm? I mean, how long do you think it will be before she catches on that you don't have a thing on her at all.

EJ: I don't know. But she's pretty afraid of going back to prison, so I'm sure she'll screw up shortly.

Stefano: Mm. Well, maybe I can come up with something to turn up the heat and...make her tip her hand.

Caroline: So here's what I don't understand.

Sami: Oh, here we go.

Caroline: If you live at the DiMera mausoleum, the only upside has got to be all those cooks, and butlers and everything. So why am I making all the food for your cockamamie picnic?

Sami: Because Grandma, you love your family. And I have been dreaming about your fried chicken for weeks.

Caroline: Oh, my, that was laid on with a trowel.

Sami: Well Grandma, you tend to ignore subtleties.

Caroline: Well, I guess you're right, I like things direct. So tell me directly... did I fry any of that chicken for EJ?

Sami: Uh, well, EJ doesn't really eat fried foods.

Caroline: So he is joining in the activities, huh? Just one big happy family.

Sami: I don't know if he's gonna come, I actually haven't even talked to him about it yet.

Caroline: That's good. 'Cause a little time alone with your kids would be a good idea.

Sami: Grandma, two of them are his kids. And he's really good with Allie too.

Caroline: Is he good with you too?

Sami: Grandma.

Caroline: Come on now, level with me. How deep are you getting into this with EJ?

Kate: I will help you as much as I can as long as it doesn't cost me anything.

Madeline: Why am I not surprised?

Kate: Because it's exactly what you would do, right? Anyway, I suggest if you don't want Stefano to find out anything more about your sordid past than he already does, it's probably time for you to leave.

Madeline: God help me for Chad's sake.

Chad: Get your hands off me.

Will: Don't you dare say anything about my mother again. Never again! Do you understand?

Chad: Ooh, looks like I hit a nerve. Maybe she's the reason you're so protective of the ladies.

Will: I said shut up!

Chad: She's had how many kids with how many fathers? She was how old when you were-- I guess maybe I'd be an uptight prude like you too if I had a mother like that.

Will: At least my mother wasn't a whore like yours was!

Chad: What did you just say?

Will: The truth. My mother made mistakes, but she never turned tricks.

Chad: Oh, you son of a...

Will: [Grunts]

Justin: Ooh, I like this one. I think this would look really nice in my room.

Ciara: I do too. That's a dollar.

Justin: Well, for a dollar, I think it--I need it signed by the artist there. [Chuckles] I'll get my wallet.

Ciara: You can't. You lost it.

Justin: Now how do you know that?

Ciara: 'Cause Mommy had it.

Justin: Your mommy had it?

Ciara: Yeah, with the other men's wallets, under her bed. They're gone now.

Justin: Okay, wha--Ciara, will you do me a favor? Would you--would you just draw another picture for yourself, and I'm gonna go talk to your mom for just a second. I'll be right back.

[Phone ringing]

Richard: Yeah?

Hope: I'm back.

Nicole: You know what I have to do? I have to find out just how much EJ has confided in Sami. Because if he does have the goods on me, I'm pretty sure he would've told her all about it. [Scoffs]

Hope: Did you miss me?

Richard: What's not to miss?

Hope: I need to see you tonight.

Richard: I think I can clear my schedule.

Hope: Same place as usual.

Richard: See you there.

Hope: Good. Because I have some very big plans.

Chad: You're gonna be sorry you ever said anything about--

Will: Maybe now you won't be so fast to look down on mine!

Officer: Okay you two, break it up. I said break it up now.

Will: You liar, you liar!

EJ: I think it's a good idea. So I keep bluffing, you start applying some pressure... and then she cracks, right?

Stefano: She is her own worst enemy.

EJ: No. That would be me, but she is a close second.

Stefano: It's good that we're both on the same team again. At least I think so.

EJ: I admit I could use some help here.

Stefano: But you know I don't mind being in your good graces again. I will always regret conspiring with Nicole against you.

EJ: I will always regret what I did to Samantha, so. Maybe we should just put this whole situation behind us.

Stefano: I'm having a hard time dealing with this new and improved Elvis. An Elvis that regrets things and feels remorse.

EJ: No matter how angry I was with Samantha, she didn't deserve what I did to her.

Stefano: No. Well now, I am scared for you.

EJ: Scared?

Stefano: That you are heading for a great fall when it comes to this woman. You are dealing with a potent cocktail of family ties, hm, physical attraction, and guilt. And that particular formula, well... can wreak havoc.

Sami: Grandma, I'm telling you EJ is different. Being a father has--well, it's-- I think that it just cancelled out everything that he was in the past.

Caroline: So then it's all for the sake of the children? It has nothing to do with your feelings for him? Right?

Sami: Look, it's not like I've forgotten what a bastard he used to be. I know that. But Grandma, I can see a guy who's trying to change. And maybe he already has.

Caroline: I don't like to talk about this very much, but the hardest thing about loving Victor was knowing that he sincerely wanted to change and knowing he just couldn't.

Justin: I thought you were tired and going to bed.

Hope: So did I.

Justin: Are you going someplace?

Hope: I just was lying in bed with my eyes closed, and I just--my mind started racing, and I couldn't shut it off. You know how that is. So I thought I'd go for a walk and try to clear my head.

Justin: Dressed up for a walk, wouldn't you say?

Hope: I'm sorry, was I supposed to clear my wardrobe choices with you?

Justin: No, no.

Hope: Good. Then if you'll excuse me.

Justin: Whoa, hold on a second, Hope, I need to talk to you about something first. It's important.

Hope: What?

Justin: Just now I was with Ciara... [Chuckles] And she told me that you had my wallet, along with a lot of others, under your bed.

Hope: Damn it. You see? She lies, she lies. She lies just to get attention.

Justin: Well, I know you told me that. But she said it so casually, I just don't think that--

Hope: You think what? You don't think that she's lying, you think it's me? You think that I'm lying? That's it, isn't it? Isn't it?

EJ: If you're trying to get back into my good graces, this is not the way to do it.

Stefano: Elvis, I'm very worried about you. Do you think that it is a good idea to open your heart to a woman who will rip it out of your chest if she finds out what you did?

EJ: Well, she's not going to find out what I did.

Stefano: Ah, sure, if you play it real safe. But you're not.

EJ: What are you worried about, Father? I mean, do you think I'm just going to blurt out that I kidnapped her daughter in some fit of passion?

Stefano: Elvis, I think you are on very thin ice. You know what she is like.

EJ: Thank you, Father. I'm not an idiot.

Stefano: You're in love. It's exactly the same thing.

EJ: [Scoffs]

Sami: Hey, Judas.

Nicole: Hey, Sami. Cute earrings.

Sami: Hey, Nicole. I wish you were still in prison.

Nicole: Yeah, well, you can't always get what you want, right?

Sami: Right. Exactly like you wanting my daughter. But here we are engaging, and I really don't wanna do that. But of course it would be way easier to not engage with you if you went to hell or something.

Nicole: Yeah, well, I can't do that, I'm working right now. Besides, Arianna was released on bail, and I was waiting to see if she comes home.

Sami: Oh, so you can torture her more?

Nicole: What, you're actually on her side? I mean, she might have attacked your father or EJ.

Sami: Are you kidding me? EJ's defending her, obviously he doesn't think she did it.

Nicole: Even with all of that DNA evidence against her?

Sami: You see how this is going? We're, like, talking back and forth. I really don't like that.

Nicole: Well, then again, I mean, EJ wouldn't take the case unless he could somehow find a way to refute that evidence, right? Or something...

Sami: Or something, that's right. You know what, I'm not telling you anything. Got that? You can write it down. Anything. Excuse me. Grandma.

Caroline: Yes? Everything okay? Yeah.

Sami: So you don't mind if I leave quickly.

Caroline: No, absolutely not, darling. Okay.

Sami: Thanks for the advice.

Caroline: Which you'll ignore.

Sami: Well, you know me. I can't wait to enjoy the chicken though. It's going to be perfect for my family picnic. I'm sure EJ will love it.

[Door closes]

Nicole: [Sighs] Desperate times, desperate measures.

Officer: Enough! You need to listen better, dude. 'Cause now I gotta take you in.

Chad: No, no, no, that's not a good idea. No, no.

Officer: Wait, don't I know you? I mean, aren't you--

Will: Commander Brady's grandson. And look...this is all my fault, Officer, it really is. I started it. And if you have to take someone in, take me. But I swear that this fight is over and it will not happen again.

Officer: Play nice, guys. Stay in school.

Chad: [Panting]

Will: I'm really... I'm really sorry. I shouldn't have said that.

Chad: But you did. And I wanna know why.

Justin: Can you just please dial it down here? I did not call you a liar. I'm actually worried about Ciara.

Hope: And what, you think I'm not? She's all I care about.

Justin: Hope, calm down. Okay?

Hope: I'm sorry. I'm sorry, I was just hoping that things were...getting better. That she... did she say anything about the wallets?

Justin: No, just that they disappeared. Do you ever wonder how she could even come up with a story like this?

Hope: All the time. I don't know what goes on in that little head of hers.

Justin: You know, I'm pretty close with Ciara. I think I can get her to trust me.

Hope: What are you getting at?

Justin: Well, maybe I could get her to tell me more about the wallets.

Hope: No.

Justin: You know, what she thinks she saw. Maybe it has some basis in reality.

Adrienne: Ciara, what are you doing down here all by yourself?

Ciara: Drawing.

Adrienne: Really? Ooh, can I see? Wow, this is great.

Ciara: Thanks.

Adrienne: [Giggles] You know, I'm looking for Uncle Justin, have you seen him?

Ciara: Yeah, he's up in Mommy's room.

EJ: I understand that she cannot know what I did, okay? I understand that.

Stefano: Mm-hmm. Then act accordingly, huh? Send her back to her little suburban life, all right? Keep custody of your children, and keep your meetings with her at a minimum.

EJ: You know, you just don't like having her around, do you?

Stefano: [Chuckles] Elvis...Capone...Nixon--

EJ: Here we go.

Stefano: Clinton...

EJ: Mm-hmm.

Stefano: It's not the crime that counts, it's the cover-up. And every conversation you have with her is a minefield.

EJ: Okay, but I am a little bit smarter than Samantha.

Stefano: Ah? Well, think about Mr. Agent Hernandez. Because just the idea that she is living here with you inflames the man, all right? You are going to guarantee to keep him digging.

EJ: Father, the man is completely incompetent.

Stefano: But he is dogged. Come on, Elvis, let us concentrate on something productive, like destroying Nicole's life. Let Samantha go.

EJ: No.

Stefano: Do you know what you're doing here, huh? You are playing with fire, okay? You know that, don't you?

EJ: Father, come on. It's me. Everything is going to be fine. Okay?

Stefano: Eh.

EJ: [Laughing] Yeah?

Stefano: [Laughing] Famous last words.

EJ: [Sighs]

Will: Okay. Chad, I'm sorry, I shot my mouth off.

Chad: So you lied?

Will: No, I...

Chad: Damn it, Horton, just say it. All right, say you lied about my mother.

Will: I didn't. If you don't believe me, then ask her yourself.

Chad: [Chuckles]

Nicole: Couple of sips of courage and I'm off.

Stefano: I would like to propose a toast. To the end of the reign of Nicole Walker. May she rest in peace.

Justin: Adrienne.

Adrienne: No, I-- this is awkward. Just pretend it didn't happen.

Hope: No. Please, don't be mad at Justin. I was falling apart, he was trying to keep me together.

Adrienne: No, I know. It's been an awful day for you, and I'm really--I'm sorry to have made it worse.

Justin: Well, how--what are you doing here?

Adrienne: I need your signature on some files that I'm faxing to Dubai. And Ciara told me you were up here, and I'm really--I'm just so sorry.

Hope: No, it's fine. It's fine. I'm fine. It's--go. Sign the papers. I'm okay, I promise.

Justin: Try and get some sleep, okay?

Hope: I will. I'll be much better in the morning. Now go, come on, go. Sign the papers, I've already taken up too much time.

Justin: Call me if you need anything, okay?

Hope: I won't need anything. I'm going right to bed.

Justin: Okay.

Hope: Good night, Adrienne.

Adrienne: Good night.

Hope: Good night. The truth is, you've wasted my time. Just when I'm at end game.

Sami: Hey, EJ, I-- oh, um...you're obviously in the middle of something. I don't mean to bother you.

EJ: No, no, I'm fine, don't go.

Sami: Oh, no, no. It's a general rule of thumb with crime bosses that you shouldn't interrupt them while they're brooding.

EJ: Oh, is that right? Well, I was thinking about you, actually.

Sami: Really? 'Cause you didn't look happy.

EJ: I was thinking you've had a pretty tough year, and... you deserve to be happy.

Sami: [Giggles] Well, I'm thinking about my plans for dinner, and a picnic. And I'm not gonna think about the crappy year I've had. Instead I'm going to focus on how hard I worked at the gym to enjoy my grandma's fried chicken and some flashlight tag.

EJ: You have quite the spirit.

Sami: Either that, or I'm just shallow. [Giggles]

EJ: [Chuckles]

Sami: Anyway, um...

EJ: Yeah, go, have fun.

Sami: Oh, we will. Yeah, yeah, it's gonna be really fun. But... look, look, I know if it seems totally boring to you, but... you're welcome to come with us.

EJ: Come with you like... a date come with you? Is that a date?

Sami: It's--

EJ: Sounds like a date.

Sami: It's not--stop.

EJ: Is that a date?

Stefano: Just the person I wanted to see.

Nicole: Are you following me?

Stefano: Not personally.

Nicole: [Scoffs]

Stefano: Now don't go. We're not done yet.

Nicole: [Clears throat]

Stefano: You know when we are really serious, don't you? Hm?

Nicole: No, I just realize that leaving would only postpone the inevitable. Because once you get it in your head to spew meaningless threats, there's no stopping you.

Stefano: I was going to offer you a way to get out before it all comes crashing down around you. See...Elvis really has the goods on you.

Nicole: He's bluffing.

Stefano: No. I've seen what he's got. And it's what I think lawyers call "incontrovertible." So, you can get on the bus at midnight and go somewhere else, or... [Clicks tongue] Back to prison.

Nicole: [Clicks tongue] So what does he have on me?

Stefano: [Chuckles] Nice try. So what is it going to be, my dear? A first departure or 10 to 15 without any chance of parole? As always, it's up to you.

[Quiet chatter]

Hope: Time to finish what I started.

Richard: Game doesn't start till later, we have the whole place to ourselves.

Hope: Good.

Richard: It's been a long time.

Hope: It has. I had some personal business to deal with. But now I'm back.

Richard: That's good. 'Cause my life's not the same without you. It's not crazy, terrifying.

Hope: You really did miss me, didn't you?

Richard: Got kind of boring. Nobody to worry about.

Hope: Why were you worried about me? Ah, because of what I told you about my ex?

Richard: I could kill that guy for how he hurt you.

Hope: Really? Well, don't you worry. He's gonna pay for what he did to me. I swear to God he is.

Chad: Okay, what the hell are you talking about?

Will: Just...just let it go, okay?

Chad: The hell I will. You don't get to lie about my mother just because you're mad at me.

Will: I'm not lying! I heard her talking to my grandmother. And everyone knows she's got this weird past, and your mother is a part of it too.

Chad: All right, okay, now I know you're lying.

Will: Okay, then check it out. I heard her say it.

Chad: Oh, come on. My mother, who went to law school, who's a judge!

Will: That's why she's so scared someone will find out.

Chad: There's nothing to find out. Look, this is crazy, all right. You're crazy, you know that?

Will: We saw that picture, we know they were friends. Look, Chad, I'm--I am not judging. Coming from my family, I can't. But I think that there's a whole lot about your mom that you don't know. Including who she used to be.

Sami: Yeah, yeah, it's totally a date I planned. Really romantic--with my twin preschoolers and a baby, at a community park. Definitely just as good as a weekend in Paris.

EJ: I think it sounds wonderful. I'm just glad that...

Sami: Say it.

EJ: I'm just glad that I didn't scare you off when I told you I loved you.

Sami: Right, about that. We should probably talk about it, huh?

EJ: Yeah, well, I think I know what you should say. I think you should say that you're starting to have feelings for me again.

Sami: [Giggles] I did talk to my grandma about it. Got a lecture. And, um...the truth is, I'm just really confused.

EJ: Confused? Confused is wonderful. I'm happy you're confused. You used to loathe me. I think confused is a fantastic step in the right direction.

Sami: [Scoffs] Only you.

EJ: [Laughing]

Sami: From my perspective, it makes me feel like I haven't grown up at all. [Sigh]

Stefano: So, what is it going to be, my dear? A fast departure, or 10 to 15 without any chance of parole. As always, it's up to you.

Nicole: I think I'll go with a third option. Oh, great, my own personal GPS. Oh, excuse me. I seem to be a little lost, could you tell me where the Brady Pub is?

P.I.: You just came from there.

Nicole: Well, you're a genius, aren't you? Telling the mark that you're tailing her, so shrewd.

P.I.: Hey, watch your mouth.

Nicole: No, you watch it. [Screams]

[Door closes]

Madeline: Sweetie, over here. Now you are a sight for sore eyes. I'm going to warn you right off the bat I've had a perfectly awful day. I might even have a martini with my cheeseburger.

Chad: Ah.

Madeline: Something wrong?

Chad: I don't know, maybe.

Madeline: I don't understand. Chad, have you been fighting?

Chad: Yeah, yeah, I have.

Madeline: For God's sakes, why?

EJ: Samantha, I think you've grown up a great deal in the last year.

Sami: I'm not 16 anymore. I shouldn't be telling my grandma that I don't know how I feel about a guy, and I don't know how he feels about me.

EJ: I've told you exactly how I feel.

Sami: And I don't know how Rafe feels about me, or how I feel about him. But I do know that when feelings are confused, people can end up getting hurt. And I shouldn't be thinking about any of that, I should be thinking about me right now and figuring out what kind of person I wanna be.

EJ: Um... well...do you want to be more independent?

Sami: So right now you're thinking I should be focusing on my kids, and making sure that they have their father.

EJ: Whoa, whoa, whoa. Wait a second, Samantha, don't put words in my mouth, please. Okay. I think it's really important that your children see that you do exactly what is right for you.

Sami: That's all I want, you know. I shouldn't be involved with anyone until I can figure out if I can stand on my own two feet or not.

EJ: If you want to go, I won't stop you.

Sami: Really?

EJ: Really. I want you to be happy. Even if that means I have to let you go.

Nicole: You see, I'm a television celebrity, and I think he was stalking me. Look, he ripped my blouse.

P.I.: She's lying.

Nicole: [Scoffs]

Officer: Do you wanna press charges?

Nicole: No, I just don't want him anywhere near me. You keep him here until I get to my car, okay? And I'm sure he regrets how stupid he was.

Hope: Almost done.

Richard: What is this?

Hope: A list of things I need for you to get for me.

Richard: Oh, my God.

Sami: [Giggles]

EJ: Okay, we ready?

Sami: What's that?

EJ: This is a chilled Bellini Montrachet. It goes very, very well with fried food, I'm told.

Sami: [Laughing] Well, there's no way around it, DiMera, you got class.

EJ: I thought it'd make a wonderful toast... to us, and the short time that we all spent under one roof.

Sami: Hey, come on. You don't have to be sad, we haven't left yet.

EJ: Yeah. You're not sad?

Sami: Well...

EJ: Maybe? A little bit?

Sami: [Giggles] A little.

[Car horn honks]

EJ: Come on. We're holding up the parade.

Sami: Sydney, what am I gonna do with him? Come on, let's get you in that car. Hey, don't forget the food.

EJ: Oh, yeah. [Sigh] See Father, you're wrong.

Nicole: EJ... if you've got proof, I'm gonna find it.

Madeline: I'm not trying to chide you, sweetie. But you can't be getting into fights. Things like that get on your record and can impact the rest of your life.

Chad: I'm just a kid, who cares what I do now?

Madeline: Trust me, things that you do when you're young, they can come back to haunt you.

Chad: And what, you're talking from personal experience?

Madeline: What?

Chad: Nothing.

Madeline: So what was this fight about, and with whom were you fighting?

Chad: See, I'm not gonna tell you because I don't want them getting Dad, pulling him in for questioning. And besides, the fight was kind of about you.

Madeline: Me?

Chad: You and Dad. Paying my way through Wake Forest. I mean, the kids are--think I have it easy. And they're just jealous.

Madeline: Well, your father and I worked really hard to earn the money to send you to school.

Chad: Oh, that must've been pretty hard, right? I mean, after your parents died, you were pretty much on your own, weren't you? How did you get through school?

Madeline: I managed.

Chad: You got scholarships, or did you work, or...?

Madeline: I-I worked.

Chad: So I mean, what did you do? The bookstore, the cafeteria? I mean, that doesn't nearly add up. I mean...

Madeline: I-I-I managed. I got through it. And now I really don't like to talk about that time.

Chad: Yeah, well I can see that.

Madeline: I just wanna make sure you never have to go through what I did. Ever.

Richard: The stuff on this list... if you're gonna do with it what I think you are, are you sure about this?

Hope: I thought you said you were worried about me. That you could kill that guy for what he did to me.

Richard: Well, yeah, but--

Hope: And now, my friend... my dear, dear friend... you won't have to worry anymore. Because the problems I had with that man will finally be laid to rest.

Melanie: Carly, is there a problem?

Carly: Yeah, there is.

Chloe: You ruined my life!

Sami: Are you sure you have to go?
