Chloe: I--I said something to him, and he didn't react the way that I thought he would.

Chloe: Well, everything now, it's different. Everything's changed.

Carly: Hi.

Carly: Hey, listen... I know how much you love Mrs. Horton, and for that reason I want to--I want to come with you. I want to see her too.

Madeline: Chad, before we join your father inside, there's something I want to tell you.

Chad: What, you're gonna hassle me about Wake Forest again?

Madeline: No, I want to talk to you about the DiMera family.

Stefano: Ah... oh, there you are. What took you so long?

Kate: I was just on the phone with Lucas.

Stefano: Those forged papers should be here any moment.

Kate: You don't even ask how he is?

Stefano: And as soon as they get here, you will do your best Madeline impersonation, and we will gain access to her safe deposit box.

Stefano: Once we do that, of course, we will get our hands on that tape, and then we will burn it to a crisp. All right... what?

Kate: I tell you that I'm on the phone with Lucas, and you don't even ask about him? You don't ask about my granddaughter? It's like my children don't even exist. Who the hell cares about my kids, right?

Stefano: Katherine, what's the matter? Why are you so upset?

Kate: Lucas is upset. He's beside himself, as a matter of fact.

Stefano: About what?

Kate: His grandmother. Alice isn't doing very well.

Stefano: Yes, I--I know. Mmm.

Kate: You know? You know, and you didn't tell me? What the hell is the matter with you?

Jennifer: [Gasps] Oh, aren't you two a sight for sore eyes! Oh, my goodness!

Laura: Hi, sweetheart.

Bill: How's my girl?

Jennifer: Oh, she needs her mom and dad right now... more than you know.

Laura: I missed you so much.

Nicole: Oh, my God. Oh...Brady!

Daniel: Everything's changed? What does that mean?

Chloe: When I confessed to Father Matt, I told him something that I guess caused a problem with my annulment to Lucas-- the validity of it.

Daniel: What? You gotta be kidding. That annulment was granted months ago.

Chloe: Yeah, I know. But...

Daniel: But what?

Chloe: Father Matt says he needs to research it some more, and that's why he refuses to marry us.

Daniel: That makes no sense, Chloe.

Chloe: It doesn't to me either, okay? I'm really upset about it. And frankly, I wish I wouldn't have brought it up to him.

Daniel: What did you bring up? And what, exactly did you say to the man?

Nicole: Okay, um, no injuries, I guess. Ooh, you smell like a freakin' brewery. Brady... why, Brady? You didn't. Brady, Brady, can you hear me?

Brady: [Muttering] What? What?

Nicole: It's Nicole.

Brady: Where--where am I?

Nicole: You're on the pier in a drunken stupor. Brady, why? What happened?

Chloe: Daniel, can't we just not get into this right now?

Daniel: Not get into this?

Chloe: It's so frustrating, but the thing is, it's out of our hands.

Daniel: No. No, it isn't. You still have not explained to me what the real problem is.

Chloe: It's something pertaining to religious law. I don't know, it sounded really complicated.

Daniel: What? What-- okay, well, why would Father Matt wait until now to drop that bomb on us?

Chloe: I don't know. But don't get mad at him, okay? It's not his fault.

Daniel: Well, why-- you still haven't explained to me what he's trying to say.

Chloe: Because you're expecting me to explain something that I don't even understand myself.

Daniel: Then you need to insist on understanding. Why didn't you insist on understanding?

Chloe: Because I-- I felt like it was really disrespectful to Father Matt. He's a priest. I figured I should just accept what he has to say.

Daniel: What, that he can't marry us?

Chloe: Right.

Daniel: All right, right. He can't marry us, and he can't clearly explain what the real issue is?

Chloe: Hey, maybe it's my fault, I don't know.

Daniel: No, no, no, no. No, you're not gonna do that again, all right? We're not blaming you. Look, I like Father Matt. But if he's come up with some lame excuse why he can't marry us, I'll tell you what-- we will find somebody who can.

Carly: Okay, I'm sorry. I'm being presumptuous.

Carly: I am. It's Hope's family, and I'm intruding. It's just that I-- I love you so much. And I know how much I love Mrs. Horton. And maybe I'm being selfish. I just felt like I should see her and say something to her and just...share in your grief. Not maybe. It's--it's selfish, isn't it?

Bo: No, it's... Mrs. H knows me better than I know myself. She never judged. Especially when it came to my feelings for you.

Victor: Maggie.

Maggie: Oh, Victor.

Victor: I heard Alice wasn't feeling well. I'm so sorry.

Maggie: Thank you.

Victor: If there's anything I can do, anything at all.

Stefano: Well, I knew that if I told you about Alice that you would run right over to her house, all right? And it would have been very humiliating for you.

Kate: Humiliating?

Stefano: To be thrown out on your ass!

Kate: What the hell are you talking about?

Stefano: Look, they don't want you there, Kate. All right? Yes, you are Lucas' mother, but you have alienated these people.

Kate: These people? These people--my son and my two grandchildren--are Hortons.

Stefano: It doesn't make any difference what the connection is to the Hortons as far as your children are concerned, okay? They hate you.

Kate: So? So they hate me. If I was fazed by everyone who hates me, I wouldn't even bother to get up in the morning.

Stefano: I was merely trying to help.

Kate: No, what you were doing and are doing is treating me like some pathetic, fragile little girl. And I resent that.

Stefano: Katherine, please--

Kate: How dare you decide what's important to me.

Brady: Why do you-- you look different?

Nicole: Different how?

Brady: Pretty. No, you were pretty before. I'm not saying you weren't pretty. But you look pretty.

Laura: Is Nathan with Alice now?

Bill: Yes.

Laura: Maybe we should go up and see Alice now too. Is that all right?

Jennifer: Yeah. Yeah, I'm ready.

Laura: Okay, honey, come on. It'll be all right.

Bill: Dear God.

[Doorbell rings]

Kate: Bill. It's good to see you.

Chad: Okay, let me take a wild guess what you're gonna say. Stefano DiMera's a bad man. Stay away from him, and stay away from his grandson. Am I getting close?

Madeline: Chad, why do you feel the need to mock me?

Chad: I'm not mocking you, Mom. I've just--I've heard this story a thousand times before.

Madeline: And yet, you still don't get it, do you?

Chad: No, what I get is you're telling me what to do and who to hang out with. And how am I supposed to be cool with that?

Madeline: Your father and I, we just want you to be safe and happy.

Chad: Mom, you can't just snap your fingers and expect me to be safe and happy.

Madeline: What is wrong? Did I do something?

Chad: Well, in case you haven't noticed, the last couple of years haven't been all that easy for me. First, you and Dad send me off to boarding school. Then I get back to Salem, and all hell breaks loose.

Madeline: I can imagine that it was very painful to find out that your ex-girlfriend had been pregnant and had your child.

Chad: Yeah. Yeah, it was. And still is.

Madeline: You still think about it, don't you?

Chad: Of course. All the time. I'll never stop thinking about it. And I'll never...

Madeline: What? Sweetie, tell me.

Chad: I'll never understand why Mia lied to me... that Grace was mine... and I was her father.

Chloe: Someone else marry us? How could you even suggest that? You know how special Father Matt is to me, and how much he's helped me.

Daniel: I know, but-- all right, you know what, maybe I should just have him call me. Or maybe I should call him. Maybe he can help me out. Maybe he can help explain why he doesn't want to marry us.

Chloe: No, just don't call him, please. I don't want to bother him anymore.

Daniel: Bother him? It is your wedding day, baby! What do you mean, bother him?

Chloe: He's gonna figure out this whole issue with the annulment, okay? And then he'll be able to marry us at some point.

Daniel: Yeah, maybe he can at some point. But nobody is gonna leave my beautiful bride waiting. Never. You know what, I have a friend-- a former patient of mine who is a justice of the peace. And I will bet you he can marry us today. All right? I will call him. You sit tight. I will make this happen.

Chloe: Daniel, no, you can't.

Daniel: You don't want my friend to marry us? Is that because he's not a priest?

Chloe: I want us to be able to say our vows in a church... before God. [Sighs] And hopefully, at that point, this whole thing will be figured out with Father Matt, and he can marry us. So please just-- please try to understand.

Daniel: Okay. Fine. Fine.

Chloe: Thank you. Come here. Oh...I promise, just a little more time and this will all work out, and we'll have no more obstacles, and we'll be married. And it'll all be perfect. Just perfect.

[Door opens]

Carly: Hey, um, I really wish I could stick around.

Bo: Yeah. You worried about a patient?

Carly: Yeah. Not her health. Physically, she's fine. I just hope she does the right thing for herself and the people she loves. You call me if there's any news about Mrs. Horton.

Bo: Yeah, yeah, I will. And we'll go visit her soon. Together.

Carly: Okay. Bye.

Caroline: Well, here you go.

Maggie: Oh, thank you, Caroline.

Caroline: Oh, no, no, no, no. On the house. Please.

Maggie: Well, that was very kind. Okay, well, I should be going.

Caroline: Okay.

Maggie: Bye. Victor.

Victor: Nice to see you, Maggie. Caroline, can I have a cup of black coffee to go, please?

Victor: Caroline, wait. You've heard, haven't you?

Caroline: Ha, well, hasn't everybody? I mean, your marriage to Vivian is big news in Salem, you know? Front page of the society section.

Victor: I take it you're not happy for me.

Caroline: Oh, Victor, I'm deliriously happy. I'm just hurt, you know, I wasn't invited. Although, given that your bride tends to bury people alive and throw them off roofs, you should be grateful I wasn't.

Kate: Lucas called me and told me about Alice.

Bill: How are you, Kate?

Kate: Um, I'm-- I'm very good, thank you.

Bill: I hear you're now Mrs. Stefano DiMera?

Kate: Yes, I am.

Bill: Why?

Kate: Why? Do you think you really have the right to ask me that? I mean, do you think you have the right to really ask me anything? Because you are no longer part of my life, Bill.

Bill: Kate, we share a son. I'll always be a part of your life.

Nicole: Uh, everything's fine, Officer.

Conway: Well, Mr. Black doesn't look very well.

Nicole: Yeah, he's feeling a little under the weather. That's why I'm taking him home.

Brady: No, no, no, we're not going home. We're going to get Ari, and she's at the poker game.

Nicole: Okay. Shh, shh.

Brady: At the game.

Conway: Had one too many, huh, Mr. Black?

Brady: You're a smart cop. Keen--keen observation from that guy.

Nicole: Brady, shh! Okay? You know, he's just-- he's on medication, you know, so if he just takes one sip of beer or wine or anything, it's kind of like lights out.

Brady: You know what, we'd love to stay and chat, really, but you know what, we've got places to do and people to go.

Conway: I don't think so, Mr. Black.

Brady: You don't think so? Who are you? Who are you?

Conway: Public intoxication is a misdemeanor, Mr. Black.

Brady: Public intoximation is a public-- [Laughs] Officer Conway, thank you for your concern. Now we'll be going.

Conway: Look, I need you to stay put.

Brady: Whoa, you need to keep your hands--

Conway: Okay, all right.

Nicole: Brady!

Conway: I'm putting you under arrest, Mr. Black.

Brady: Oh, I'm under arrest. I'm under arrest--

Conway: For drunk and disorderly--

Nicole: Brady! Brady! Oh, my God! Brady...

Kate: You left me with Lucas and took off for parts unknown. For years my son didn't even know who his father was.

Bill: Well, I didn't know either. And you were on your own, Kate, because you wanted it that way.

Kate: Yes, I had my life and you had yours. [Sighs] What are you looking at?

Bill: I guess when you're about to lose someone you love, you look at things in a different light. Your perspective changes.

Kate: So how have you changed?

Bill: I find myself wondering about the choices I've made in my life. About the people that I've chosen to share my life with.

Kate: Is there a point to this?

Bill: Do you think if I'd stayed with you, Kate, that we'd still be together? And if we were, do you think we'd be happy?

Victor: Caroline, perhaps you've forgotten that not too long ago I told you that I wished there could be more between us than just friendship.

Caroline: I haven't forgotten.

Victor: Then perhaps you'll also recall that you rejected me...broke my heart. And you're lashing out about my marriage. Could that be because you regret what you told me that day-- that Shawn is the only man you could ever love?

Caroline: There's nothing to regret, it was true.

Victor: Was true?

Kate: I realize that you're deeply saddened, but to second-guess choices that we made, I think we're a bit past that, don't you?

Bill: So I guess I sounded like a damn fool just then, huh?

Kate: No. No, I understand, believe me.

Bill: I just wonder, though... are you proud of your life, Kate? The person you've become?

Laura: Hello, Kate. I can't say it's a pleasure.

Maxine: Binge drinking. People don't understand how dangerous it can be.

Nicole: But Brady does. That's why I don't get it.

Maxine: Mostly we get college kids in here, four sheets to the wind. Pledging a fraternity or whatever. They don't understand they can die from it. Alcohol poisoning. This IV should help him out.

Nicole: Then--and then he'll be fine?

Maxine: Only 'cause he's lucky. A couple more drinks, guy could have been a goner.

Bo: Hey. What the hell happened?

Chloe: Daniel, please say that you understand.

Daniel: I'm trying to. Okay? Well, since we're not getting married today, I should probably cancel a few surprises.

Chloe: Okay.

Daniel: You get some rest.

Chloe: I will. Now kiss me.

Daniel: Twist my arm. Good night.

[Monitor beeping]

Chloe: You bitch! You did this to me. This is all your fault.

Kate: So are you two a couple again?

Bill: No, we arrived in Salem at the same time, but no, we're not a couple.

Laura: This gathering... it's family only. Didn't anyone tell you that?

Kate: No, actually, they didn't. But I understand. I brought some flowers by for Alice.

Laura: Alice isn't dead yet!

Bill: Laura!

Kate: I thought they might cheer her up.

Bill: It was very thoughtful of you, Kate. Thank you.

Kate: Alice is a very special person. She truly does make the world a better place. It was good seeing you, Bill. Laura.

Caroline: I have no regret! Shawn is the only man in my life.

Victor: I respect that. I wish you could also respect my decision to marry Vivian. Especially since...

Caroline: Since what?

Victor: Since I did it to protect our son.

Caroline: You brought that woman into your house, who tried to kill your daughter-in-law? How--how does that protect your son?

Victor: I can't explain it to you. I can just tell you again that that's the reason why I did it.

Caroline: What a fool I've been. Just...I thought there was good in you.

Victor: Well, you were wrong, weren't you?

Nicole: Well, Brady got a little pie-eyed and took a swing at a cop.

Bo: Yeah, I read the police report. What's your role in this little drama?

Nicole: Me?

Bo: Yeah. You're the one who got him drunk, right?

Nicole: No. I found him like that on the pier. I had nothing to do with it. Bo, I care about Brady. I would never do this to him.

Bo: Yeah, well, maybe Arianna's arrest hit him harder than we thought. And from what I hear, she's not accepting any of his help. Uh, maybe that sent him over the edge.

Nicole: I don't want either one of you to attack Arianna.

Baker: But wait a minute, didn't you say--

Nicole: I know, I know... I know, I wanted her to be your next victim. But this is what I see happening. The police are finally gonna find that woman who's been terrorizing the men of Salem, and that woman is going to be Arianna Hernandez. Incontrovertible evidence of her guilt. No.

Bo: No?

Nicole: It's all my fault.

Carly: Look, I know you're angry with me, but if you stop to think about what--

Chloe: Shut up! Just shut up, please. I don't want any more of your stupid lectures on honesty. You, who didn't tell Daniel for over 20 years that he had a daughter.

Carly: Does what I didn't do make it right for you to be dishonest with him?

Chloe: What you didn't do makes you the world's biggest hypocrite for tormenting me about one mistake! And no, I didn't tell Daniel about that mistake. I couldn't.

Carly: Then what happened?

Chloe: I postponed the wedding. Okay? I told him that we had to wait. Are you happy now? Are you satisfied?

Bo: You said you had nothing to do with this.

Nicole: I didn't. But it's like you said about Arianna, and how hard this is on Brady. And I contributed to that. I was supposed to be Arianna's alibi, and it fell through.

Bo: So he went out and tied one on? That's smart.

Nicole: Yeah.

Bo: And then he took a swing at a cop. What the hell was he thinking?

Nicole: He wasn't. And now he's going to jail, Bo. That's why I called you. You're his uncle. Can't you make this all just go away?

Bo: You really do care about him, don't you?

Nicole: Yeah, I do. Except now, seeing him like this, I-- I realized how much he loves Arianna.

Baker: Yeah, Jimmy... put a "G" on the red sox, okay? Listen, I gotta go. All right, talk to you. I'm sorry, Brady, but there's no way I'm gonna let you find out that I framed your girlfriend. You're gonna have a hell of a hangover, my friend. But with that drug I slipped you, you won't remember a thing.

Chad: Who was on the phone?

Madeline: Oh, it was just someone from work. I thought you were gonna go in, get us a table.

Chad: Yeah, I guess I'm having second thoughts... deciding whether or not I even want to have lunch with you and Dad considering all you do is lecture me.

Madeline: I'm sorry about that, Chad. I really am. You know that your father and I, we only want what's best--

Chad: What's best for me? Right. I just wish you'd let me make my own decisions... decide who my friends are, no matter who they're related to. Can you do that for me, please? Can you at least just consider it?

Stefano: Katherine.

Kate: I'll be upstairs, if you need me.

Stefano: Wait, wait, wait, wait. Look, I'm sorry I did not tell you about Alice. I have tunnel vision sometimes, I admit. Especially when it comes to trying to protect my family.

Kate: I do have a family and a life outside of you.

Stefano: I know that, I know that. Look, Katherine, if you are having second thoughts about impersonating Madeline...

Kate: I'm having second, I'm having third, and I'm having fourth.

Stefano: All right, so listen, why don't you just take that time and spend it with Lucas and Allie when they get here, and I'll find some other way to take care of the tape. I will defuse the blackmail situation... just find another way.

Kate: What kind of other way?

Stefano: I'm not sure yet, but there are always options.

Kate: So you would really be okay with me backing out of helping you?

Stefano: You don't get it, do you, Katherine? [Sighs] How much I really care for you. I want to spend my life taking care of you.

Kate: People said I was crazy to marry you. Some people think that someday I'll come to my senses, and I'll leave you.

Stefano: Oh?

Laura: I just want to know what you and Kate were talking about. What, I'm not allowed to be curious?

Jennifer: What was Kate doing here? What happened?

Laura: Ask him.

Jennifer: Did she upset you? I can't believe she would come here when Grandma's so sick.

Bill: All Kate did was deliver some flowers. And Alice would have welcomed her visit. Mom doesn't judge anyone.

Laura: You're right. Your mom doesn't judge. Maybe we should all take a page from her book right now.

Carly: This isn't about me being satisfied. It's in no way about me.

Chloe: Well, it's not about helping Daniel. Because I've confused the hell out of him, thanks to you.

Carly: Chloe, you can change that.

Chloe: You know, there's a part of me that just feels like I want to run away... try to forget him. Try to forget how much I've hurt him.

Carly: Come on, you know that's not the answer.

Chloe: Well, then, why don't you give me the answer? You seem to have them all.

Carly: Daniel loves you. He'll forgive you.

Chloe: Oh, yeah? Did your husband forgive you for cheating on him with Daniel?

Carly: That's a poor analogy, and you know it. Daniel is a good man. He's a forgiving man. You need to trust him and the love he has for you. You need to do the right thing.

Kate: I know what I got into when I married you. And I may have had doubts when I said "I do," but I don't anymore.

Stefano: That's nice to hear.

Kate: And I want you to know that I'm on your side now... always. And I know that you let me off the hook when it came to the Madeline situation, but I want to be back on it.

Stefano: Does that mean--

Kate: That means that we will find that tape, you and I, and we will negate the Madeline situation together. Just the same way we are in this marriage together.

[Monitor beeping]

Daniel: How you doing?

Chloe: Feeling a little better.

Daniel: Well, we'll try to get you out of here soon, okay?

Chloe: Great. Daniel, please be patient with me. I want you to know that I love you more than I ever thought I could love anyone. And I want to spend the rest of my life with you.

Daniel: You will. I'll make sure of that.

Bo: Hey, Victor, it's Bo. Call me when you get this. It's about Brady. Hey.

Nicole: Brady, can you hear me?

Brady: Nic-Nicole? Nicole?

Nicole: How are you feeling?

Brady: What happened?

Nicole: You deserve to know. I want to tell you everything.

EJ: I'm afraid I have some bad news.

Julie: You're making the worst mistake of your life.

Nicole: I know what you did, and I could kill you for it!
