Lexie: Chloe? Chloe, can you hear me?

Roman: Chloe. It's Roman Brady. How you feeling?

Lucas: Oh, my God. You're awake.

Chloe: What? What's going on?

Lucas: She's awake.

Chloe: I don't understand. Wh--why am I in the hospital?

Lucas: My God, she's back.

[Heart monitor beeps]

[Kate sighs]

[Daniel grunts]

[Muffled shouting]

EJ: She's fine. So...Mia lied to you.

Will: Yeah.

EJ: This troubles you a great deal obviously. Look, I'm gonna take back what I said earlier. Why don't you tell me what it was she lied to you about?

Will: It's complicated.

EJ: Situations usually are. That's fine. I have plenty of time.

Mia: Will is not going to tell anybody. Besides, he thinks it was a closed adoption, that I don't even know where the baby went. Nobody is going to find out.

Nicole: We hope.

Mia: How is anyone going to know you lost your baby? Everybody saw you pregnant. They know you had your little girl and that her name is Sydney. How could anyone connect her to me?

[Phone rings]

Nicole: Hi, honey.

EJ: Sweetheart, you've had your phone off ever since you left the house.

Nicole: Yeah, I--I'm sorry. I realized that a little while ago and I turned it back on. Where are you?

EJ: Well, I went for a walk in the park with Sydney looking for you actually and then I came to the Java Cafe. I'm just having a chat with Samantha’s son, Will.

Sami: You're here. You're back.

Rafe: I never really left.

Rafe: Hey.

Arianna: You did it, didn't you?

Rafe: Shh.

Arianna: I'm sorry.

Rafe: It's all good. I think I'm on to something. I know Nicole’s keeping a little secret. From her husband, from the rest of the world.

Rafe: Nicole had a miscarriage.

Arianna: Really?

Rafe: Uh-huh.

Arianna: I didn't even know she was pregnant again.

Rafe: Yeah, well I'm not sure when it happened.

Arianna: Okay, well then how do you know?

Rafe: I was in the right place at the right time.

Arianna: I'm confused.

Rafe: [Laughs] I was in the park earlier tonight.

Arianna: Okay.

Rafe: I overheard Brady and Nicole. They were talking. Nicole says to Brady, her exact words, "EJ can never know about my miscarriage."

Arianna: Sh-she was confiding in Brady?

Rafe: Yeah. I think they have some sort of bond.

Arianna: Yeah. Okay. So what does this all mean? What do you think Nicole is up to?

Nicole: My goodness. You're at Java with Will.

EJ: I am. I'd like it if you could join us.

Nicole: Oh, uh, I'd love to, honey. But, um, it's a little strange, isn't it? You and Will having a talk. What's it about?

EJ: I'll tell you when you get here. Soon, please.

Mia: E.J.'s with Will?

Nicole: Yes.

Mia: I don't get it. Will doesn't even like EJ. Why--

Nicole: Why? Why? I don't know. I'm asking myself the same thing. You told Will that you had a baby, and an hour later he's having a little chat with EJ.

Mia: Well, Will promised he wouldn't tell anyone.

Nicole: Yes, of course. And men never lie.

Mia: But I didn't tell him that Sydney was my baby and there's no way that he could figure that out. And I know, I know that he wouldn't break his promise.

Nicole: You better hope so, Mia. Because if he starts blabbing this around, trust me, you will be in a world of pain and then-- you know what? I have to get there. I have to find out for myself what's going on. And--and no matter what, there's got to be a way to handle this.

[Sighs] Or not. Oh, God. If everything comes out, Mia, I can't even count how many people will get hurt. You just--you stay here and you keep your phone on, okay?

Mia: Yeah, sure.

Nicole: And if Will calls, you admit nothing. Not until we talk. Understood?

Mia: Yes. Nicole. I really don't think anything's wrong. But if it is, I'm sorry.

Nicole: You're sorry? Mia, I trusted you. I trusted you! You know the only thing I wanted in my entire life was to have a good home with my husband and my child. To love them and be loved. I'm gonna fix this. So help me God, no one--no one will ruin the life that I have built.

Mia: [Sighs]

Nathan: You were right, he was right. I'm so glad that we did this.

Roman: Okay, take these two downtown, put them in a holding cell.

Melanie: But--but, no, she woke up. You should let us go now.

Roman: Doesn't work that way.

Nathan: Well, can you at least call Dr. Jonas? He needs to know what happened.

Melanie: Yeah.

Roman: Ah, I'll tell you what. First I need to talk to Chloe, then we'll see.

Melanie: Is she gonna be okay?

Roman: I don't know.

[Heart monitor beeps]

Chloe: Lucas, just a lot of... a lot of things I don't understand. Last I remembered I was shooting the show and... you seem so different. Did something happen?

Lucas: Yeah, something happened. I guess you could say that. A hell of a lot has happened.

Kate: Things probably could've been a little different early on. If only we could turn back the clock, right? But we can’t. And since you insisted on rutting with that stupid little slut, spitting in my face, spitting in my son's face... you've really left me no choice.

[Daniel grunts]

Arianna: Okay, so what does Nicole’s miscarriage have to do with Sami?

Rafe: Maybe nothing. I don't know. Nicole could've lost the baby six weeks ago or six days ago. I'm not sure. Or maybe--maybe she lost the baby around the time that Grace died. Which would explain why she was so emotional.

Arianna: Okay.

Rafe: Yeah.

Arianna: But why the secret?

Rafe: You know, I hate to say it, but maybe it was Brady’s.

Arianna: No. No. You know what? You're way off base there, okay?

Rafe: Maybe.

Arianna: Okay.

Rafe: Yeah, but my first theory didn't float either that Nicole went to the clinic and somehow did something to Grace which caused her to--to die.

Arianna: So, are you back to square one?

[Phone rings]

Rafe: Hello.

Sami: Hey, hey, it's me. Don't hang up.

Maggie: Oh, hi, honey. How are you? I had to pick up a few things. Mia? Sweetheart, what's wrong?

Mia: Sorry, uh...sorry. I should--I should go to my room.

Maggie: Honey, wait. Uh, and would you be honest? Have you had a, um... slip?

Mia: No. No. All that 12 step stuff is... never mind. I'm fine.

Maggie: Well, honey, obviously you are not fine. Can you at least give me a hint?

Mia: People shouldn't keep secrets. Not from people they care about.

Maggie: Mia, is this about Will?

Mia: I lied to him. And to you. Everybody.

Maggie: About what?

Mia: I had a baby. Before. It was before I met Will or you. I didn't take off to go into rehab. I disappeared so I could have a baby. And then I gave it up for adoption. It's in a good home, but now... I told Will. And I really thought he understood.

Maggie: But he didn’t. He didn't forgive you.

Mia: I don't think he ever will. But he did promise he wouldn't tell anyone, and now...I think he's gonna break his promise.

Maggie: Oh, honey.

Rafe: Sami, I would never hang up on you. What's going on?

Sami: Um, actually I had a dream about you.

Rafe: A dream? Well, I hope it's a good one. I'd hate to think that you'd been tortured by bad memories.

Arianna: I'm gonna do the inventory, okay?

Rafe: Sami, you still there?

Sami: Uh, yeah, yeah. I--I didn't know who else to call.

Rafe: Well, you can call me anytime. What's up? Where are you?

Sami: At the convent, actually. Sister Claire gave me a room. She said I could stay as long as I want. I just needed to be alone.

Rafe: Convent? Okay. Well, anyway, you said you had this dream.

Sami: I'm not telling you about my dream, okay? I was just thinking about you and...and I was thinking about Grace. And I was thinking how lucky I am to have known you. I mean, I wouldn't be alive if it weren't for you. I wouldn't have had time with Grace if it weren't for you. Would never have known her beautiful smile without you.

Rafe: Yeah. Yeah, she did have a beautiful smile. That's one of the things that made me fall in love with her.

Sami: I wish you could've been there when she was born.

Rafe: I would've liked that.

Sami: I would've loved knowing that you were the first person to hold her. I know she would've loved that too. I mean, Sister Theresa was great and all, but it would've been so wonderful if you could've been there with me to help me. I was so scared when they took her away from me.

Rafe: They what? They took who away from you, Sami?

Chloe: Lucas, are you upset about something? I'm just confused. I'm having a hard time.

Lucas: Am I upset about something? Yeah, I guess you could say that I'm upset. I'm a little upset because you've been lying to me. You lied to me before we were engaged. You lied to me before we got married. You've been lying to me since the day I told you I loved you.

Lexie: Lucas, Lucas, don't do this.

Lucas: I know everything, Chloe. I know every little detail. I know you slept with Daniel and I know you've been lying to my face about it.

Lexie: Stop it!

Chloe: Lexie.

Lexie: Yeah, yeah. Yeah, Chloe, I'm right here.

Chloe: Do you know where Daniel is?

Lucas: Who gives a damn where that bastard is!

Kate: Okay. So this is an old rundown motel. There's only one other room occupied. And it's a good, um, seven or eight doors down so no one can hear you. And I've decided to let you have a last word. Now, isn't that sweet of me?

Daniel: You bitch.

Kate: [Laughs] Oh, my God. Really, that's it? Come on. This could be your final moment. I'm expecting something a little more. Maybe a plea for mercy.

Daniel: Go to hell! [Grunts] Ugh.

Kate: Tell you what. I'll meet you there.

Daniel: [Groans]

Roman: You okay?

Chloe: I should've told him. He's so angry.

Roman: All right, listen, I don't want to upset you anymore than you are, but I do need to ask you some questions. You feel up to it?

Chloe: Is it really the middle of September?

Roman: Yeah. Yeah, it is. You've been in a coma quite a few weeks.

Chloe: Oh, my God.

Roman: Now listen, Chloe, the thing is we've got Daniel Jonas under arrest for giving you the poison that made this happen--

Chloe: Poison? No, that's not true.

Roman: Well, hear me out here, okay?

Chloe: No, Daniel would never hurt me. You have to let him go.

Roman: Take it easy, okay. He's out on bail. But I think right now you need to hear the evidence we have against him.

Chloe: I don't care about any evidence. Daniel loves me and I love him. He would never hurt me.

Roman: Okay, all right. Calm down.

Chloe: I have been hiding it for so long and it was wrong, but you have to listen to me. You have to understand. Daniel loves me.

[Phone rings]

Kate: Don't go anywhere. Look, sweetheart, can I call you back? I'm in the middle of something.

Lucas: You know what? You're not gonna believe this. No one in the world is gonna believe this. It's like a nightmare.

Kate: Baby, calm down. What's going on?

Lucas: She's defending him. I can't believe it. She's defending him. She still wants to be with him.

Kate: What are you talking about?

Lucas: Chloe. Chloe woke up and she says she's in love with Daniel.

Nicole: Will, it really is good to see you. It's been a while.

Will: Yeah, you too. I've got to go. I've got something I've got to do.

EJ: You sure?

Will: Yeah. Later though, okay?

EJ: Well, it was nice talking to you.

Will: You too.

Nicole: Good night. So?

EJ: Poor kid, I feel sorry for him. He's having problems with his girlfriend, Mia. Do you remember her?

Nicole: Oh, yeah. Of course. What kind of problems? Did he say?

EJ: Yeah, he was pretty specific actually. She's, uh, she's being dishonest with him.

Nicole: Really? How?

Rafe: Sami, are you talking about Grace? Somebody took Grace from you the night she was born?

Sami: Well, yeah. I thought I told you that.

Rafe: Uh, I don't think so. I mean, that was quite a night for both of us, but who took her?

Sami: Dr. Baker. She was having trouble breathing. And he had to work on her. Just thinking about that night, I really wish you'd been there.

Rafe: Yeah, me too. So what happened?

Sami: Um, Dr. Baker took her to another room to work on her. It seemed like forever. You know, I hadn't even gotten to look at her or hold her or anything.

Rafe: Wait, wait--you're telling me that Dr. Baker took her out of the delivery room?

Sami: Yeah. Yeah, he had to clear her airway or something. Then he brought her back and he said she was fine. I guess she wasn't fine in the end, was she?

Rafe: Sami, listen to me, okay? I need you to focus. Now you need to tell me. How long was Baker gone?

Sami: Rafe, I don't want to talk about it, okay? Never mind, I'm sorry I called.

Rafe: No--

Mia: I'm sorry I lied.

Maggie: Mia, it's okay. It's understandable. You know, and this thing with Will, it isn't insurmountable. Now you trust me on that, okay?

[Phone rings] Oh, my goodness. At this hour? Ugh! Look, whoever this is, I really don't have time-- what? Oh. Okay. All right, I'll be right there. Um...um...I got-- can we talk about this in about an hour? I'll be back as soon as I can, okay?

Mia: What's wrong?

Maggie: It's Melanie. I don't know. Something happened. They've arrested her. I don't know why, but they've also arrested Nathan too.

Officer: Holding cell is full of drunks. Commissioner says you can wait in here.

Nathan: Hmm. Can we have our phones back?

Officer: No.

Nathan: Mm, didn't think so.

Melanie: Well, so much for telling Dr. Jonas what's going on.

Nathan: Yeah, well at least we know he's in the clear. [Sighs] It's a good feeling, right?

Melanie: Yeah. Unless your name is Nathan Horton. I mean, you broke every rule there is for an intern. Your career is on the line and it's completely my fault.

Nathan: Hey, were you going to take all the credit? Look, I made a conscious decision. And look, it turned out to be a great decision, right?

Melanie: Yeah, but you wanted to be the next big doctor in your family. I mean, you risked everything for somebody you don't even know. I don't understand you.

Nathan: I did what I thought was right. I mean, what else was I supposed to do, right? The one I don't understand in this whole situation is you.

Chloe: I don't care what people say or what they think. Daniel would never hurt me.

Roman: Chloe, sometimes the victim is the last one to understand the truth.

Chloe: No, Roman, listen. I feel terrible about Lucas. I should've told him. And I'm ashamed of that. But one of the last things I remember was deciding to stop living a lie. Daniel and I love each other and we were planning on leaving Salem together. And Daniel was so happy.

Roman: The evidence points right at him, Chloe.

Chloe: I don't care about any so-called evidence. I understand what you're saying to me. I was poisoned, but not by Daniel. By someone else.

Kate: I don't understand. I thought that was impossible.

Lucas: Oh, it's possible all right. She woke up and she's in there right now talking to roman. She's probably telling him what a great guy Daniel is.

Kate: You stay calm, baby. I'm gonna be right there. Well, Chloe has regained consciousness. She's gonna recover.

Arianna: Where did Rafe go?

Rafe: Yeah, listen, Sarah, I am so sorry to bother you. But, uh, if you don't answer my question, I'm gonna track you down and get you to tell me the truth. Now tell me, what the hell was Baker doing at that clinic that was so damn bad?

Sara: Okay. I'll tell you but never, never call me again. Got it?

Rafe: Agreed.

Sara: Dr. Baker was buying and selling babies illegally.

Rafe: Buying and selling babies illegally. What the hell? How does this make sense?

Kate: I can't believe this is happening.

Daniel: Kate... Kate, your son just told you that Chloe’s awake. It's over. Just face it. No matter what you do or what happens to me, Chloe is gonna tell the truth. It's all gonna come out.

Kate: Shut up.

Daniel: Hey, listen to me. I know you're in one hell of a bind and there is no easy way out. I get that. But I will help you, okay? Just--all you got to do is just go to the police, tell the truth, and I will do everything I can to make it easier for you.

Kate: Would you do that? Would you do that for me?

Daniel: Yes. Yes, I would. Please, untie me.

Kate: You...are a kind man. You are a very kind man.

[Daniel grunts]

[Muffled shouting]

Nathan: I mean, you went to bat for Daniel right from the start and all you had to go off of was Brady’s word that he was a good guy.

Melanie: Well, Brady doesn't lie.

Nathan: Yeah, but besides that. Like, you always go around acting like the only person that you care about is you. It's bull. Come on, that's why you went to bat for me. Tried to save my ass when we got caught.

Melanie: It doesn't mean anything.

Nathan: It--it doesn't mean anything? Look at me, look at me. It means a lot to me.

EJ: So Mia was lying to him. He didn't say what about specifically, but it's obviously very painful for him.

Nicole: Yeah, it's terrible.

EJ: I mean, having been raised by Samantha, you can only imagine how difficult it is for him to be lied to by somebody else that he cares about.

Nicole: Well, hopefully someday Sami can learn to be honest with him. But as for Mia, do you have any idea what she was lying about?

EJ: Why would you care to know that?

[Knocking]

Sister Claire: Sami? What is it? What's wrong?

Sami: I've done something stupid.

Sister Claire: Tell me.

Sami: I came here to get away from everything. I make one phone call and I make everything worse.

[Rafe thinking]: Baker's in the baby-selling business. Sami doesn't see her baby right after she's born. Nicole was also Baker's patient and gave birth there that same night. Wait, Nicole had a miscarriage.

Sara: The first time she was here was some kind of walk-in emergency.

Rafe: Nicole had an emergency when she was pregnant with Sydney. Oh, my God. Is that when she had the miscarriage?

Melanie: Okay. Okay, let's say I saved Dr. Jonas because I am too sweet for words. And then I saved your butt because I am amazingly selfless. And now you think I'm just so good it hurts. And then...

Nathan: And then? What?

Melanie: And then I disappoint you because I'm not that girl and I never will be.

Mia: What are you doing back here?

Will: Look, I had to apologize for walking out earlier. I can be a real jerk sometimes. I'm sorry.

Mia: You didn't tell anybody, did you?

Will: No.

Mia: Okay. That's, uh, that's the important thing.

Will: No, the important thing is that I walked out earlier. That was--that was wrong of me.

Mia: Well, I understand.

Will: Well, you shouldn’t. I mean, where do I get off judging you?

Mia: You don't have to be nice to me.

Will: I'm not--I'm not being nice. I mean, I'm just being honest.

Mia: Like I never am, right?

Will: Look, I said I'm not judging you anymore, okay? I mean, if you have a secret that you want to keep, keep it. Or tell me when you're ready.

Mia: I want to tell you everything, but--

Will: Well, if you can't, you can’t. But if you want to know how I feel about you.

Sami: I came here to get away from everything. To think about--

Sister Claire: Rafe.

Sami: I mean, he's this terrific guy. But then these things started coming up and I was doubting him. And he wouldn't tell me everything, and of course that can't be good.

Sister Claire: It's difficult to trust someone who isn't forthcoming.

Sami: And then I started to think maybe I shouldn't trust him.

Sister Claire: Yes, but--

Sami: But of course I should. I mean, he's this great guy and he's strong and he's been there for me and proven himself through everything. And I had this dream.

Sister Claire: A dream about what?

Sami: I don't want to say it out loud because then maybe it won't come true.

Sister Claire: But what if it could?

Rafe: Nicole lost her baby. She faked her pregnancy. She was sad. I remember she was really, really sad. She pulled it off. At some point, she faked her pregnancy. But she needed a baby, a real live baby, so she goes to her doctor, the baby broker. She was at the clinic to get one of Baker's black market babies. That's why the nurse never saw her. But she could've pretended to have a baby any day she chose. So why that night, the night Sami was having a baby? Weird. She arranges for Sami to deliver at that clinic, then she goes there that same night and pretends to have her baby. Why? Because she knew that Sami was having E.J.'s baby. Oh, my God.

Nathan: Hey, are you really that sure you're going to be a disappointment to me?

[Door opens]

Maggie: Oh, my God, Nathan. I'm so glad I found you. Okay, now I just heard you were arrested. What's going on here?

Nathan: Maggie, calm down. What Melanie and I did turned out to be such a great thing.

Roman: Okay, Chloe, that was very helpful. Thanks for being so truthful. Now, you hang in there. I'll give you a call when I locate Daniel and give you the news.

Chloe: Thank you.

Roman: All right, take care of yourself.

[Heart monitor beeps]

Lucas: Wait a minute, what are you doing? You can't get out of bed.

Chloe: I don't know. I just... I so don't want to be here.

Lucas: Where do you want to be? You want to be with Daniel? You want to be with the man who poisoned you? Is that it?

Chloe: Lucas, Daniel couldn't possibly be the one who poisoned me.

Lucas: Chloe, I've been waiting in this damn hospital room forever and I want an answer. I want it now.

Chloe: Lucas.

Lucas: You're in love with him still? You love him after what he did to you? After what he did to us? You're in love with him, aren't you? Yes or no?

Chloe: Yes. Now can you tell me where he is?

[Daniel grunting]

[Shouts]

Kate: I need your help.

Will: Don't worry. Chad will never know the truth.

Nicole: EJ, it's not important what Mia lied to Will about, okay? I just want them to be happy like we are. Is that so wrong?

EJ: No, of course it's not wrong.

Nicole: I mean, sometimes I think that people should be as in love as we are.

EJ: I'd do anything in the world to make you happy. You know that, don't you?

Nicole: Really?

EJ: Of course. Anything. Name it.

Nicole: I want to go away from here, EJ. You and Sydney and me, and I want to go away and never come back.

Sister Claire: Sami, dear. I don't know what should happen. No one truly ever knows that. But if it's God's will, then even if it takes a miracle, it'll happen.

Sami: Yeah, I know. But I don't know if there are any miracles left for me.

Rafe: She wanted Sami’s baby. She knew Baker had access to black market babies, but she didn't just want any baby. She wanted E.J.'s. Oh, my God. That baby I felt kicking inside Sami wasn't Grace. It was never Grace. Grace was someone else's child. Nicole had Baker switch babies. Which means Sami’s baby's still alive. My God. Oh, my God. Sami's baby is Sydney. Sami's baby is Sydney.

Sister Claire: She's in seclusion.

Rafe: Would you just tell her that Rafe called and it's very important?

Sister Claire: I think he really needs to speak with you.

Chloe: I know how much I've hurt you.

Lucas: Do you really?
