Monique: Okay, we're all set with the seatingy, there's a bride's side and a groom's side.

Nicole: Good, good. That's 100% perfect, because if the Bradys or the Kiriakises sit next to a DiMera, blood could be shed. Actually, it will be shed, and no one can get killed at my wedding, okay? That would be very, very, very bad luck.

Chelsea: Righty tighty, lefty loosey.

Stephanie: Whoa, that looks like fun.

Chelsea: Yeah, it's a blast.

Stephanie: So your dreams of being a carpenter...

Chelsea: Uh, forever dashed.

Stephanie: Need any help?

Chelsea: Nope, I'm taking a break for three days.

Stephanie: Good. Recharge those batteries.

Chelsea: So, I guess I don't need to ask how it went with Philip.

Stephanie: I know you have your doubts, Chelsea. But I don't, not anymore. Philip needs me, and I need him.

Chelsea: Okay, so why aren't you with him? Why are you here?

Stephanie: Because I wanted to give him some time alone with his father. And because I needed some time, too, to process some stuff.

Chelsea: Like what stuff?

Stephanie: Well, I used to be afraid that Philip was gonna hurt me or that he was a guy that I couldn't be with, but...

Chelsea: But you're not worried about that now, right? I mean, you just said you don't have any more doubts.

Stephanie: No, I don't, but now I'm afraid... I shouldn't even say it.

Chelsea: Steph, just tell me.

Stephanie: I'm afraid something terrible is gonna happen to him because of the DiMeras.

E.J.: So, this is what we're reduced to. Just visiting the spot where you were [Clears throat] Grave. Not even an urn for your ashes. [Sighs] How did it all come to this? How can...this be all that's left? I will avenge your death, tony, if it's the last thing I do.

Max: What if it is the last thing you do? Aren't you getting married tomorrow? Is this how you want to take care of your family?

Announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.

Lucas: What a break, huh? Just you and me?

Chloe: Finally, right?

Lucas: Yeah. You know, I don't want to be one of those couples that never sees each other because they work too much, all right? We are newlyweds. That means I get to spend every second with you.

Chloe: And I agree. And that's why I'm kind of worried about taking this talk-show gig.

Lucas: Still?

Chloe: I just feel like it's gonna take up a lot of time.

Lucas: No, it's not gonna take up any time at all. You know, you don't have to rehearse for it. Just do some preinterviewing with the guest. That's about it, really. That's all.

Chloe: No, that's not it. I'll be thinking about it all the time, preparing, worrying that I'm gonna screw things up.

Lucas: Come on, Chloe. You're gonna be great. Stop.

Chloe: No, I'm not. I know that your mom will probably murder me now if I try to back out, but this job is just not me.

Lucas: Chloe, listen to me.

Chloe: No, I can't do it, all right? I can't host Kate's show.

Monique: Nicole, I think what you need to do is just take a deep breath and realize --

Nicole: "A deep breath"? What, and you think that's gonna make me forget about all that could happen here? That's your solution -- breathing?

Monique: Honey, I'm just trying to get you to calm down.

Nicole: Well, I can't calm down. The closer it gets to the wedding, the more I feel like it's not gonna happen, and then it's all gonna fall apart.

Monique: What? Why would it fall apart?

Nicole: [Sighs]

Nicole: Please, Dr. Baker, don't make this any harder for me than it already is. Let me take Sami's baby and you can have Mia's.

Nicole: You told tony DiMera that Sydney was your baby, not mine. How could you do that?

E.J.: I think we need tore-evaluate where we are.

Nicole: So you think we should postpone the wedding?

E.J.: I think we need to spend some time apart.

Nicole: [Scoffs] I don't know what I'm thinking. This marriage is doomed.

Lucas: Chloe, I thought you wanted this job.

Chloe: No, not really. And you know I didn't seek it out. Kate offered it to me and I just couldn't say no. Now, I don't want to seem like an ingrate.

Lucas: Well, you're not. Why don't you just give it a try for a little? If you don't like it, just quit. It's as simple as that.

Chloe: Really?

Lucas: Yeah, really. No one's gonna force you to stay if you're not happy. Come on, and if it goes bad, chalk it up as a great experience.

Chloe: Maybe you're right.

Lucas: That's right. I'm always right. You're gonna learn that about me. Look at you -- my wife, the soon-to-be celebrity.

Chloe: Or the soon-to-be flop.

Lucas: You stop that right now. That is never gonna happen.

Chloe: Oh.

Daniel: Hey, guys.

Chloe: Hi.

[Cellphone ringing] Oh. Mm, don't recognize the number.

Lucas: Roll the dice. Get it.

Chloe: Hello?

Monique: Chloe, this is Monique parker, Nicole's wedding planner. Listen, we need the matron of honor down here at St. Luke's church right away.

Chloe: Is everything all right?

Monique: Um, no. We're in the midst of a serious wedding emergency.

E.J.: Is this a pastime of yours, Max? Intruding on other people's private moments?

Max: I didn't mean to intrude. I just know you're grieving for your brother and that you're in pain.

[Cellphone ringing]

E.J.: That's very insightful of you.

Max: E.J., I lived through the blood feud between the Bradys and the DiMeras, and now that it's done, why would you want to start another one?

[Cellphone closes]

E.J.: I didn't start anything. Thank you. My brother is dead, in case you've been in a cave for the last week. He had a meeting with Philip Kiriakis, and now he's dead. What, you just want me to let bygones be bygones?

Max: From what I understand, tony DiMera was actually a decent guy. All he wanted was to get away from the DiMera way of life.

E.J.: He was always striving to be a better person.

Max: So do you think he'd want his death to set off more fighting, more hatred? Why don't you just let him rest in peace?

Stephanie: You're not saying anything.

Chelsea: I hate to see you worry like this.

Stephanie: But you think I have a good reason to.

Chelsea: Here's what I think -- I think that the DiMeras and the Kiriakises have always had problems, and I know that I'm kind of changing my tune from before when I was all doom-and-gloom, but focusing on the bad things that could happen is not really a way to live. So I think that what you should do is just enjoy and appreciate the time that you have with the person you love, 'cause I'm pretty sure he loves you, too.

Stephanie: Yeah, I just wish there was something else I could do to help him get through this.

Chelsea: Well, all that you can do is just be there for him, which you're doing.

Stephanie: Actually, there is something else.

Nicole: It's okay. Mommy's here.

Chloe: Hey.

Nicole: Oh, Chloe, thank God you're here.

Chloe: Your wedding planner called me and said there was an emergency.

Nicole: I'm so sorry.

Chloe: What are you sorry for, and where's your wedding planner?

Nicole: I-I don't know. I don't know if she's with the caterer or the florist. I can't remember.

Chloe: Well, what's the problem? What can I do?

Nicole: Forgive me?

Chloe: For what?

Nicole: For making you spend a fortune on a matron-of-honor dress that you're probably not gonna wear.

Chloe: Please don't talk like that.

Nicole: Oh, Chloe, everything was perfect. I mean, E.J. And I, we were happy and in love. And...and then I ruined things.

Chloe: "Ruined things"? What, you mean because you told the police that Tony's death was an accident?

Nicole: No, no. Witnessing Tony's death, well, that didn't exactly get me the key to the city or anything, but I didn't ruin things because I told the truth. I ruined them because I lied.

Nicole: Poor baby. When I worry, so does she. Mommy's sorry she's so messed up right now.

Chloe: Nicole?

Nicole: Yeah?

Chloe: What do you mean you ruined things because you lied?

Nicole: I lied to myself. You know, um...every time I got married, I only did it for the money, not for love, and you know that. But this time, I thought it was different.

Chloe: Because it is.

Nicole: No, no, it's not.

Chloe: Oh, come on. What are you talking about? E.J. Loves you.

Nicole: No, E.J. Is being a real jerk right now. Is that the way you're supposed to treat someone you're supposedly in love with?

Chloe: He's just going through a rough time right now. I mean, he suddenly lost his brother. He's probably just stressed out.

Nicole: Well, when it comes down to it, Chloe, do I really want to marry a man who isn't 100% in love with me?

Chloe: Of course you don't want that, but there are different kinds of love.

Nicole: "Different kinds of love." Really? It isn't love if it's based on compromise and half-truths.

Chloe: Is this about Sami?

Nicole: Part of it, yes.

Chloe: You can't let her be a part of it, okay? Look, maybe what E.J. And Sami had was passionate, but it was never gonna last, all right? Love -- love can't be volatile and unpredictable, okay? It should be stable and safe.

Nicole: "Stable and safe"? God, Chloe, that sounds boring.

Chloe: It doesn't have to be.

Nicole: All right. You had second thoughts about Lucas, and then you got through that. And you took a plunge. You got married.

Chloe: I sure did.

Nicole: And how do you feel now? Are you ready to shoot yourself yet?

Maggie: Dr. Jonas.

Daniel: Oh, hey. Hello, Maggie.

Maggie: You must think you can't go anywhere in this town without bumping into someone you'd rather avoid.

Daniel: Oh, you're not someone I want to avoid.

Maggie: Well, I'm glad. I want you to know that I do admire the choice that you made. I mean letting Chloe and Lucas work things out, giving her up.

Daniel: She gave me up, too, so...

Maggie: Yeah, I know, but you made it easier for her.

Daniel: "Easier." Hmm.

Maggie: We're very lucky to have you in Salem at university hospital. You're a tremendous asset.

Daniel: I appreciate your saying that, Maggie.

Maggie: There is more to life, you know?

Daniel: Mm-hmm, more to life.

Maggie: You know, than work. From what I hear, you hardly ever leave the hospital except to come here for a cup of coffee.

Daniel: Well, I go home to sleep some nights.

Maggie: Do not confuse the Hippocratic oath with celibacy vows, Daniel. I mean, you're a doctor. You're not a monk.

Daniel: Wow. I'll keep that in mind.

Maggie: [Chuckles] Daniel, you did the right thing for Chloe and Lucas. Now, you need to do the right thing for yourself.

Daniel: I'm not sure what that is, Maggie.

Maggie: Actually...I am quite sure.

Chloe: Ready to shoot myself? What kind of thing is that to say?

Nicole: It was a joke, Chloe. Remember those?

Chloe: I have no regrets about marrying Lucas, all right? None whatsoever. I know that I did the right thing.

Nicole: You seem happy.

Chloe: I am -- very. And I want you to be happy, too.

Nicole: I would be if...

Chloe: If?

Nicole: If I didn't think E.J. Had regrets.

Chloe: Oh, come on, Nicole. He doesn't. He loves you. I can see it in his eyes any time he's around you.

Nicole: Well, you obviously haven't been around a lot, Chloe, when he's angry with me or when he's thinking about what could have been.

Chloe: "What could have been"? You mean with Sami?

Nicole: Yes. I mean with Sami. She has her way, doesn't she? The fly in the ointment, the bane of my existence.

Chloe: That's because you let her be, all right? Sami left E.J. She was pregnant with his kid, then had a miscarriage. She just adopted a baby, God only knows why, and she started this whole new life with that bodyguard guy.

Nicole: I know the story, Chloe.

Chloe: So what are you worrying about?

Nicole: Because I don't believe it.

Chloe: What? You don't believe her story about the kid?

Nicole: That's what I mean.

Max: You're about to get married, E.J. So what do you want more -- you want revenge, or do you want a great life with your wife and kids? Huh?

Chelsea: What's going on here?

E.J.: Nothing. Your buddy Max here is just giving me a little bit of unsolicited advice.

Chelsea: Well, you should probably take it.

E.J.: I beg your pardon?

Chelsea: Look, Tony's death was an accident. I mean, and, really, you and your father have no right to be outraged. I mean, you're a DiMera for God sakes.

Max: Chelsea.

Chelsea: No, I mean, your family has gone around terrorizing this town for years, and you guys all walk around free acting like you're normal, decent people. What's that about?

E.J.: You go to hell.

Chelsea: Look, Philip has suffered enough, E.J. And he's gonna continue to suffer. He has to live with his guilt for the rest of his life.

E.J.: Oh, Philip gets to live with his guilt, does he?! Really? Philip gets to live!

Chelsea: He didn't mean for your brother to die.

E.J.: How do you know? Were you here?

Chelsea: No, but I've been there before.

E.J.: I don't care. Whatever you're trying to do, stop it.

Max: Okay, don't talk to her like that.

E.J.: I don't want to talk to her at all. Or you. Waste of time.

Chelsea: Sweet guy.

Max: Tough chic.

Chelsea: It's not funny, Max. I was defending my family, and don't tell me that I shouldn't have.

Max: I wasn't telling you what to do or not to do, okay? I love you the way you are. You're confrontational and feisty.

Chelsea: Well, I'm glad that you appreciate my feministic spunk. I bet you're glad that women can vote now, too.

Max: I'm serious, Chelse.

Chelsea: So am I. I don't like to be patronized.

Max: How am I patronizing you? I'm sor-- how am I patron-- I wasn't patronizing you. I love you the way you are. I just --

Chelsea: What?

Max: With the feistiness and the bravery...

Chelsea: Yeah?

Max: It can get you in trouble.

Chelsea: Oh, God. That's even more patronizing. You realize.

Max: Am I not allowed to worry about you?

Chelsea: No, because the person you should be worried about is Philip, not me.

Max: Yeah, you know what? I don't care about Philip. I care about you. I worry about you.

Stephanie: Hey, God. Sorry I haven't been here in a while. That's 'cause grandma Caroline told me that you can hear me wherever I am. It's just this time I felt like I needed to be here, closer to you. I just want to thank you for bringing Philip into my life. I love him so much -- more than I've ever loved anybody. And I just want you to keep him safe and bring him some peace.

Chloe: Wait. So, you think that the baby that Sami adopted is actually hers and E.J.'S?

Nicole: Shh, shh, shh.

Chloe: Well, do you?

Nicole: No. No, of course I don't think that.

Chloe: Well, then, why did you say you don't believe her story about the baby?

Nicole: Because I don't believe anything that woman says.

Chloe: Well, neither do I, usually, but she convinced Lucas that that adoption was for real. And after everything that he and Sami have been through, I mean there's not a chance that he could possibly fall for another one of her lies.

Nicole: Well, you're right. Lucas isn't dumb.

Chloe: No, so stop worrying.

Nicole: That's easy for you to say.

Chloe: Nicole, just forget about Sami and how annoying and phony and mean she is and focus on one thing -- E.J. Well, and Sydney. So that's two things.

Nicole: You know what, Chloe? You are a great shrink.

Chloe: Yeah, right.

Nicole: No. No, really. I mean, you always find the right thing to say to me to make me feel better. I really appreciate it. Thank you.

Chloe: So, I'll see you tonight?

Nicole: Tonight?

Chloe: The rehearsal.

Nicole: Right. You see how out of it I am?

Chloe: Come here. Just call me if you need anything, all right?

Nicole: Believe me, I will.

Chloe: Good. Bye, princess.

Nicole: [Baby voice] Bye-bye, auntie Chloe. Bye-bye. [Normal voice] Bye, hon. Hey. [Chuckles] How's my girl? Huh? Oh, come here to mommy. Come here, sweetheart. I love you so much. Yes, I do. You mean the world to me. And no matter what, I can't lose you. I won't. [Sighs] Everything's gonna be okay, Sydney. I promise it's gonna be okay.

Max: [Laughs] Wait. Wait. Let me -- you're trying to build an ark...Noah.

Chelsea: Ha ha ha.

Max: Well, it's not a tree house 'cause you have to build tree houses, like, directly in --

Chelsea: You know, I was thinking, maybe I should build you a stage so that you can practice your stand-up.

Max: [Gasps] Let me help. That'd be great.

Chelsea: I will do it later. Besides, I really don't see the point in wasting time building things when we could be doing this.

Max: Mm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. The bookcase -- that can wait.

Chelsea: Yeah, it can.

Max: You know what? It's only gonna take like a few minutes. Can I please?

Chelsea: Max, I was working on it for like three hours and I got nowhere. It's gonna take you more than a few minutes.

Max: No, this looks easy.

Chelsea: Oh, God. You are so annoying.

Max: What?

Chelsea: Just because you're a guy.

Max: This has nothing to do with being a guy. I-I need to fix things. I'm a mechanic, remember?

Chelsea: I don't care if you're frank Lloyd Wright. You're not helping me with this. I want to do this on my own.

Max: Oh. [Chuckles]

Chelsea: "Oh" what?

Max: I know what this is about. This is about you having to prove yourself.

Chelsea: Of course it is. I don't understand what's so wrong with wanting to meet a challenge.

Max: No, no, yeah. I mean, if your ego needs to get in your way of, you know, like putting together a bookcase, even though you're totally inept at it --

Chelsea: I am not inept.

Max: No, at this you are. At this you are. No, but you're good at a whole lot of other things, like work and friendships...and a whole lot of other things.

Chelsea: Like?

Max: Like this.

Nicole: So, I've been thinking about the, uh -- the wedding favors, and I -- and I saw those really cute little crystal paperweights. I found them online, and they seem pretty popular.

Monique: Oh, they are. Or we could also do silver bell place-card holders. A bit more fun, I think.

Nicole: Um, yeah, sure. Whatever you think. You know, could you do me a huge favor?

Monique: Name it.

Nicole: Well, Sydney's getting picked up in front of the church in about two minutes -- her final fitting for her cute little wedding dress -- and I was wondering maybe if you could meet her with the nanny.

Monique: Of course. It would be my pleasure.

Nicole: Thank you. Bye, honey. I'm gonna see you in a little bit.

Monique: Here we go, sweetheart. You're gonna get fitted for a new beautiful little dress. Here we go.

Nicole: Bye-bye. Mwah!

Stephanie: Hi.

Nicole: Um, Stephanie.

Stephanie: Hi, Nicole. I'm sorry. I'm just really glad I ran into you.

Nicole: Why?

Stephanie: I wanted to thank you for what you did for Philip. I mean, if you hadn't told the police what happened, he'd be in jail right now.

Nicole: Well, I just told the truth.

Stephanie: I know, and I also know that Tony's family probably put a lot of pressure on you to be on their side.

Nicole: Well, that's one way to put it.

Stephanie: I know what it feels like to be in love with someone whose family doesn't share the same values.

Nicole: Well, my family didn't have any values, so there's no problem there.

[Chuckles]

Stephanie: Anyway, I-I hope everything goes well for you -- the baby, the wedding, everything.

Nicole: Thank you. That's very sweet.

Stephanie: I'm just -- I just want to thank you again for what you did for Philip.

Maggie: I like to see people happy and satisfied.

Daniel: Why am I all of a sudden getting very nervous?

Maggie: Well, okay. Well, you may recall that at the recent hospital charity auction we had at chez rouge...

Daniel: Oh, boy.

Maggie: Well, there were a number of young women who -- who -- who where just clamoring to get a date with Salem's most eligible bachelor.

Daniel: Okay, I had a feeling this is where you were going, and I really don't --

Maggie: Irene Ellis.

Daniel: I know what you're trying to do.

Maggie: Okay. She's a physical therapist. She's worked at the hospital for six months, and she's a lovely young woman.

Daniel: W-- why am I talking?

Maggie: Come on. Come on, don't deprive me of one of my greatest, greatest pleasures, Daniel. It's matchmaking. And, by the way, I have quite a talent for it.

Daniel: Hmm.

Maggie: I should probably open my own business, but for now, I like doing it for friends.

Daniel: Yeah? Even for people who are not interested at all?

Maggie: Even if I have to wrestle them to the ground to agree to it.

Daniel: Okay, Maggie.

Maggie: Come on. Think about it.

Daniel: All right. Okay, I will. I will think about it.

Maggie: Okay.

Daniel: I don't want to deprive you of your greatest pleasure.

Maggie: [Chuckles] Well, that's very generous of you. All right, then, I will leave you alone for now.

Daniel: I like alone. It's okay with --

Maggie: Daniel, take care.

Daniel: You too.

Maggie: Oh, young people today -- always have their faces buried in their phones.

Lucas: Just sending out some work e-mails. Got to wait for Chloe. Oh, by the way, thank you for the lovely gift. I love that bible.

Maggie: I am so glad you like it, honey. So, where is that new bride of yours?

Lucas: I don't know. Something to do with Nicole's wedding, I guess. Had to go to St. Luke's and douse the flames.

Maggie: Oh, goodness. Hope it's nothing serious.

Lucas: Well, with Nicole, you never know. Could be a nail or the end of days.

Maggie: Oh, be nice. Weddings can be very stressful.

Lucas: Which is why I'm not looking forward to going tomorrow. To tell you the truth, I really don't want to go. You know, Nicole and E.J. -- I used to think they were the couple from hell. Now I find myself feeling sorry for Nicole 'cause she's got to deal with E.J. And that nightmare of a family. Can you imagine?

Maggie: Mm. Well, that's pretty frightening.

Lucas: Yeah, it is. And the Philip situation? My mom's a wreck. She's really worried about this. With Tony's death, I'll tell you right now, Maggie -- that family better stay the hell away from my brother.

Stephanie: Oh, my God. Ugh. I'm sorry!

Chelsea: No, it's fine. Come in.

Max: Come in?

Chelsea: I mean, uh...just give us a second.

Max: Yes, thank you.

Stephanie: We can't keep doing this.

Chelsea: No, we can't.

Lucas: Hey.

Chloe: Hey.

Maggie: There you are.

Lucas: Sit.

Chloe: Oh, thanks.

Lucas: What happened? Crisis averted?

Chloe: Yeah, just some prewedding jitters. She'll be fine.

Maggie: It must be so hard to have a death in the family just as you're trying to organize a wedding.

Lucas: Yeah, I guess that's how it goes sometimes. It's the circle of life.

Maggie: Makes you realize how lucky you are.

Lucas: Mm-hmm. I know it was driving me crazy when mom was diagnosed, but luckily we don't have to worry about that anymore, do we?

Chloe: Yeah.

Maggie: And now you two only have good things to look forward to.

Lucas: "Good things"? Wonderful things.

Maggie: Well, yes, wonderful things. [Laughs]

Nicole: Are you okay? You seem really...far away.

E.J.: No. I'm right here.

Nicole: Good. I'm glad you came down. I wanted to apologize for our fight earlier. I just -- I feel awful about it, some of the things that were said.

E.J.: Yeah, I came down here to apologize, too. However...when I come here... and I see you right here embracing Stephanie... and she is thanking you for saving Philip...

Nicole: You were standing here the whole time? Why didn't you say anything?

E.J.: Because I was waiting for you to tell me.

Nicole: There's nothing to tell.

E.J.: It's been your mantra lately, isn't it?

Nicole: My mantra?

E.J.: You've been saying it over and over again.

Nicole: With Stephanie, who I barely know? I mean, it's not like I was seeking her out. We just ran into each other.

E.J.: This doesn't have anything to do with Stephanie.

Nicole: Well, then, what is it? My God, why do you always think I'm hiding something from you?

E.J.: Because, unfortunately, for me, lately...it always seems that you are.

Lucas: It'd be like, you know, wedding part two. I think it'd be fun.

Maggie: Mm, I like it.

Lucas: Got friends and family, dancing, good times. It'll be good.

Maggie: Ooh, I completely agree, and I think you ought to have it at chez rouge.

Chloe: Really? That would be amazing.

Maggie: Oh, I would absolutely love to host your party there, but we're gonna have to start planning it right away.

Lucas: Maggie, that's too generous.

Maggie: Mm, it's my pleasure, really. And I do -- oh, yes. I have to go. I'll see you soon.

Lucas: Well, thank you.

Maggie: Bye-bye. Okay, and I will see you later to finish the other half of our hearth and home interview.

Chloe: Oh, yeah. I'll see you later for that.

Maggie: You're not still nervous.

Chloe: Not exactly nervous. Just crippled by anxiety.

Maggie: Chloe, you're gonna be great. Kate -- she has faith in you.

Lucas: That's what I keep telling her. You're gonna do great, baby. Don't worry about it.

Maggie: Okay, bye-bye, you two lovebirds.

Lucas: See ya.

Maggie: Bye.

Lucas: See? It's good. Everything is good. Life is wonderful, right?

Chloe: Yes, it is.

Lucas: Good.

Chelsea: Come in to your own apartment.

Stephanie: Twice in one day, right?

Max: "Twice in one day."

Chelsea: Yeah, I walked in on Stephanie and Philip earlier today.

Max: Oh, great. Good times.

Stephanie: Well, at least he's not staying here anymore.

Chelsea: No?

Max: Did you guys break up?

Stephanie: No.

Max: Oh. So then why, um --

Stephanie: Oh, he just -- he changed his mind about moving back home. He and his father are getting along now, so he doesn't need a place to stay. And he's gonna get his job back at titan.

Max: So you're staying with him? Are you nuts?

Lucas: So, the question is not only where to go, but when.

Chloe: Well, that depends on the show's taping schedule, right?

Lucas: That is one of the advantages of having me as your boss, my dear. Mrs. Horton, I will take care of everything. Trust me.

[Cellphone ringing]

Chloe: [Chuckles] Oh, hold on. Ugh, it's private. I hate that.

Lucas: Answer it. I want to know who it is.

Chloe: Okay. Hello? Oh, hey. Really? W-- are you serious? Oh, my God. This is the best news ever.

Nicole: So, that's what you think I'm doing? Hiding things from you, scheming?

E.J.: Quite frankly, I don't know what to think.

Nicole: Oh, come on, E.J. I'm really getting sick of this. Having to explain myself to you 90 million times a day -- it is wearing me out.

E.J.: I understand that, but I would hope that you will also understand that I've been going through quite a lot.

Nicole: E.J., I know that you're mourning your brother and that it's painful and that it's terribly tragic, and all of us are still reeling from it. But tony... no, never mind.

E.J.: Say it.

Nicole: It's terribly insensitive, and you're still grieving.

E.J.: Just say it.

Nicole: Fine. None of this would have happened if tony hadn't gone rogue. E.J., He is the one who betrayed your family. He's the one who wanted to disown you and your father. And I understand if you don't want to be angry with him because he's dead. And I get it that you want to blame Philip, but, E.J., Please, don't blame this on me. Don't you dare blame this on me.

Daniel: Oh, Maggie.

Maggie: We have to stop meeting like this.

Daniel: Uh, yeah. Yeah, um, you know, I've been thinking.

Maggie: About my offer?

Daniel: Yeah, and you were right. My life has become monastic, bordering on masochistic.

Maggie: Well, you took the words right out of my mouth, I think.

Daniel: [Chuckles] Anyway, not really working for me.

Maggie: Uh-huh. You're coming to your senses. Finally.

Daniel: Mm, well, I would like to have drinks with Irene sometime.

Maggie: And you will. I will arrange it posthaste.

Daniel: Great. [Chuckles]

Chloe: I will. Yeah, of course I will. Are you kidding? Yeah, it -- I will, as soon as possible, okay? Thank you. All right, bye.

Lucas: What? Who was that?

Chloe: My agent. I was just offered a lead at the Vancouver opera company, and I don't even have to audition.

Lucas: Wow, that's incredible.

Chloe: Oh, my God. My heart is pounding so fast.

Lucas: Well, they must have a lot of faith in your talent.

Chloe: Lucas, this is such an amazing break.

Lucas: Don't tell me you're gonna do it. Don't tell me you're actually thinking about accepting this.

Stephanie: Could you do me a favor and not talk to me about Philip ever?

Max: Hey, I was just --

Stephanie: Just -- it doesn't matter what you were "just." It doesn't help, and it's not your place.

Max: Oh. Is it also not my place to tell you that I overheard E.J. Promising to his dead brother about getting revenge against Philip?

Stephanie: Okay, I don't want to hear that.

Max: No, of course not. You just want to go on pretending to yourself that being with Philip is just like being with any other guy.

Stephanie: I love Philip. What am I supposed to do? Leave him just because people are after him? Because the DiMeras are vindictive? What kind of a coward would I be if I just abandon him at the time he needs me most?

Max: [Laughs] You've done it before.

Chelsea: Max.

Stephanie: I've done it before? Wh-- you broke up with me, Max. Why the hell do you keep forgetting that?!

Max: I just want you to be safe, okay, and happy!

Nicole: E.J., you know what I am so sick of? All this talk about enemies and revenge. I mean, we're in a church for heaven sake.

E.J.: I'm well aware of that. Thank you.

Nicole: Remember when -- when we were here for Sydney's christening and how happy we were? And I love that you're a family man. And I admire your loyalty. But, E.J., w-what about Sydney and me? Aren't we family, too? And for the last time, E.J... is this wedding on or not?

E.J.: We'll just have to see what tomorrow brings.

Caroline: Secrets and lies are nothing but hurtful.

Sister Agnes: If you love Sami, fight for her.

Mia: Nicole's fiancé, my baby's father.

Brady: If you really want to give this marriage a shot, you can tell E.J. The truth.
