Sami: Rafe. What's wrong?

Rafe: Rafaela? You named her after me?

Stefano: You are not going to let my son die. Do you hear me?

Daniel: I am sorry, mr. Dimera. We really are trying.

Stefano: Well, then you just try a little harder, okay? This is the 21st century. You don't know how to stop a man from bleeding? What the hell kind of a doctor are you?

E.J.: Why don't we donate some of our own blood, hmm? Would that help?

Stefano: No, that might help. What we need is a doctor we can trust, certainly not a Godson of a kiriakis.

E.J.: Father, come on.

Stefano: My son antony is in there, lying down, fighting for his life because philip kiriakis tried to kill him. I don't want anyone that has anything to do with that family trying to care for my son!

Daniel: Okay, mr. Dimera, i can assure you --

Stefano: You don't assure me of nothing. I want to see him now, and i want to see him right away!

Bo: So, nicole saw everything -- your fight with tony, him falling.

Philip: All of it. She was the one who called 911.

Bo: So she'll back up your story.

Philip: She better. It's the truth.

Nicole: You're awake. Good. Because you and I need to have a little chat, whether you like it or not.

Daniel: Mr. Dimera, I will get you in to see your son as soon as possible.

Stefano: Now. Immediately.

Daniel: As soon as possible, sir. And since you want me off the case, is there some other doctor that you have in mind?

Stefano: Yes. Alexandra. She will know what to do.

Daniel: No. No. Dr. Carver is the patient's sister.

Stefano: I know who she is, damn it, all right? She will see to him. Do you understand me?

Daniel: I will have her paged right away. But what you need to understand -- until lexie does get here, this is my case, and i will do whatever I can to keep tony alive. Everything that can be done has been done. He is in critical condition to the extreme. I think you should call the rest of the family and prepare them for the outcome. Excuse me.

Nicole: Well, it's a good thing there aren't any mirrors in here. You look awful. I actually feel bad for you. Look, tony. If you didn't get hurt, you would've told E.J. That sydney isn't mine, and you would have enjoyed that, wouldn't you? Watching his world come crashing down, all because I had to tell a few lies! And not to mention him dragging me out of the room and throwing me in the gutter. But, gosh... you got hurt, and you didn't have a chance. Not that I'm glad something like this happened to you. I mean, it's -- it's terrible and probably painful, I'm sure. But, damn it, tony! I am not gonna let you open your mouth and ruin my life with E.J. One way or another, I'm gonna make sure that you never say a word.

Fr. Matt: I just want to wish both of you the best in the world and also for this joyous little child.

Sami: So, you never had anyone named after you before?

Sami: Grace rafaela. I'm gonna have to call her that a lot, you know, like, "Grace rafaela, do your homework!"

Rafe: Homework? That's a ways off, sami.

Sami: It comes up quick, sometime world is ready for Grace. I mean, she has two brothers and a sister and all my family. I mean, anyone who doesn't appreciate how lucky they are to have Grace in their life --

Rafe: Sami, it's gonna be fine.

Sami: What if it isn't? I mean, what if -- and I'm all out there by myself. What if something --

Rafe: Hey, hey. Everything's gonna be fine. I've got your back.

Stefano: Where's alexandra? She should be here by now.

E.J.: They paged her already.

Stefano: My son is not gonna die. [Inhales deeply] It's not going to happen.

E.J.: Let's go to the chapel. Why don't we go to the chapel?

Stefano: No. I am going to get a nurse, and I'm going to have her take me to antony right now.

Nicole: Is something wrong, tony? Oh [Chuckles] Right. Silly me. You got in a fight on the docks, and you almost wound up dead. Of course there's something wrong. Wow. Your heart's going about 110 a minute. You're probably in a little pain from the surgery, huh? Hey, guess what? Guess who saved your life. I did! I'm the one who called the ambulance. Mm-hmm. So, you owe me, mister. You owe me your life. And you know how you're gonna repay me? You're going to keep your mouth shut, agreed? Oh, for God's sake, tony, say something!

Nicole: Excuse me?

You can't be in here, ma'am.

Nicole: Well, I'm family. His brother is my fiancé. I need to talk to him.

Talk to him? He's intubated on a ventilator, recovering from chest surgery. He can't say anything to anyone.

Nicole: Really?

Stefano: [Voice breaking] Why did I talk to him the way i did? I mean... why did I tell him... that I wanted him dead?

E.J.: He betrayed you, father. You were upset with him.

Stefano: Upset is... one thing, but... to tell him that... he's no longer a part of my life... [Crying] My heart... no.

E.J.: Don't punish yourself. Please, this is painful enough.

Stefano: [Sniffles] Probably would be better if i could see him. [Sighs deeply]

E.J.: Father, they told you. He's in a critical condition, okay? We just need to be patient and let the doctors do their thing. Where's nicole? Lexie.

Stefano: Oh, alexandra.

Lexie: I was so nervous i pushed the wrong button on the elevator.

Stefano: Alexandra, alexandra. You can save him.

Lexie: Okay, daniel left a message saying tony was critical after the surgery. What happened?

E.J.: He got in some kind of fight, which is not important. Anyway, he went down, and he punctured his lung, and he bled a lot. And other than that, we really don't know.

Stefano: What happened? You want to know what happened?

Lexie: Yeah, what?

Stefano: All right. I'll tell you what happened. That son of a bitch over there tried to kill your brother. That's what happened.

Bo: Anything else you want to tell me?

Philip: We fought. I got hurt. I went after tony. He stumbled. He fell. Nicole called 911. What more is there? That's everything, bo. Who are you calling?

Bo: Hey, it's me. I'm gonna need you at the hospital. I.C.U. No, it's philip. He's gonna need your help.

Sami: Grace, you are so lucky. Your mommy picked the best Godfather ever because he is gonna be there for you your whole life. He's gonna protect you and watch out for you because he is trustworthy and caring and --

Rafe: All right, take it easy, okay? You're making me sound like the boy scout handbook.

Sami: Oh, come on. Aren't fbi agents just overgrown boy scouts with guns?

Rafe: With a lot more training, a lot more responsibility. What am I even talking about? I forgot. I'm not with the fbi anymore. Did you hear that, Grace? Your Godfather -- he doesn't have a job, so I hope you're not expecting a christening present anytime soon.

Sami: Stop it, okay? You're gonna get a job. You're totally qualified. You already turned down a great job. It's gonna be fine.

Sami: I can't believe they forced you out because of me.

[Grace coos] Cute.

Philip: Who'd you call?

Bo: Hope.

Philip: [Sighs]

Bo: I can't work this case because of our connection.

Philip: Right.

Bo: Not that hope doesn't have a connection, but she's one step removed.

Philip: No, hope's good. She's fair. She'll get this straightened out.

Bo: That's the plan. You seemed tense when I called her.

Philip: How was I supposed to know you were calling hope? How was I supposed to know you weren't calling another cop to arrest me?

Bo: Why would I do that?

Philip: Because you're acting like you don't believe me.

Bo: I believe you, philip. But I also know that you're keeping something from me. Want to tell me what that is?

Ma'am, I've asked you to leave.

Nicole: All right. I just have one question, though. If tony does recover... will he be able to speak again?

Yes, of course. Now, I'm not gonna say it again.

Tony: [Breathing heavily]

Lexie: [Sighs] There's been so much damage.

Stefano: No more daniel.

Lexie: What?

Stefano: No, he did not do enough. You take over. You take charge of everything.

Lexie: Wait, what? Are you kidding me?

Stefano: No.

Lexie: Tony's my brother. I can't be his doctor. I'll assist daniel if I can. But, listen, trust me. Daniel's the one you want calling the shots here.

Stefano: I do not want anyone associated with the kiriakis family telling me whether my son will live or --

Lexie: This isn't about you, father. This is about tony.

Stefano: He's strong. He's going to make it.

Lexie: Will you try explaining? I'm going to, uh, go see daniel, and then I'll see tony.

Stefano: And I want to see him next.

Lexie: Okay, I'll see if i can work that out.

Stefano: Okay, thank you.

Lexie: Uh, where's anna?

E.J.: We don't know. Her phone's switched off.

Lexie: Keep trying.

E.J.: Okay. I'll do that.

Lexie: Oh, God. After everything tony's been through, everything he's survived, for something like this to happen...

Stefano: It did not just happen. It was made to happen. And the person who made it happen is going to pay dearly.

Rafe: You see this place, kiddo? This is where we held your first coming-out party. I know. Not bad, huh? Not a very big turnout, but, hey, no one came to my christening, either. Yeah, look how I turned out. I had a good life, a lot of good times. There were some not-so-good times, too, but you know what? We're not gonna talk about that now. And I am not gonna let bad things happen to you. I promise you that. Okay, kiddo? You are gonna be my princess Grace. That's right. No. No, you know what? You're gonna be amazing Grace. That's who you're gonna be to me. Does that sound good? Do you like that?

Rafe: You sure you want to have lunch here? I can get takeout. We can take Grace straight home.

Sami: No, no. I want to come here. I mean, I miss my Grandma's turkey burgers. And anyway, I didn't bring Grace back to salem just to hide her.

Rafe: That's true. Good point.

Sami: So, you're square with the story, right?

Rafe: You were in witness protection, kept seeing this orphan kid. You started taking care of her a little bit. You bonded. When you finally got out of witness protection, you couldn't get her out of your head, so you adopted her. Simple.

Sami: You think it'll work?

Rafe: If you say it with conviction.

Sami: God, what if I screw this up, rafe?

Rafe: No, you just hang in there, okay? You're tough.

Sami: Tough is good... sometimes.

Rafe: Yeah. How about that turkey burger?

Sami: With an iced tea, please.

Rafe: You got it.

Sami: Ah, Grace. So, what did you think of the car ride, sweetie, huh? Are you so excited to be home? You get to meet your brothers and your sister. Yeah, Grace. It's gonna be so much fun. You are in for such a surprise.

[Door opens, closes]

Will: Mom. Whose baby is that?

Nicole: Hey, tony, wake up.

[Sighs] All right. We need to finish our little chat, okay? Now, I get that you can't talk, all right? I got it. But we have to come up with some sort of agreement here, okay? You understand? Oh, for heavens, could you at least nod your head?

Tony: [Breathing heavily]

Nicole: Now, remember how i told you I saved your life? Well, you need to think about that, mister, okay? If you want to get out of this little adventure of yours, you better play nice. Otherwise, hmm, you might run into a few problems. Wow, tony. Your heart's up over 100 again.

[Door opens]

Daniel: Tony? Why is your monitor signaling an increa--

Nicole: [Clears throat]

Daniel: Nicole? What are you doing in here?

Philip: See what I mean? You're acting like you don't believe me.

Bo: Why did you meet tony at the pier?

Philip: I told you. Business.

Bo: Why don't you elaborate a little?

Philip: I can'T. It'S...trade secrets.

Hope: Hey. What's going on? Hi.

Bo: Philip and tony got into a fight down at the pier. Philip won't tell me what it was about, and tony's in I.C.U.

Hope: Really? Oh, my God.

Philip: I didn't do it. He fell.

Hope: Okay, what was the fight about?

Philip: Well, I already explained to bo. Tony and I were talking about confidential trade secrets. I really can't go into it, okay?

Bo: You know what? I'm tired of this. I'm gonna call victor, have him come down here and talk some sense into you.

Philip: Bo, don'T. Hang up.

Bo: You gonna talk to me?

Philip: Yeah, fine. I'll talk.

Daniel: Tony. Tony. Are you in pain?

Nicole: I was just so concerned about him. I had to come in here. Is he gonna be okay?

Daniel: No, he's not well. Now, get the hell out of this room.

[Monitor beeping rapidly]

Daniel: 472 -- we got a code blue! Give me a crash cart in here now! Let's go!

Lexie: I don't want to hear that kind of talk. Is that clear?

Stefano: Look, I --

Lexie: Tony is fighting for his life, and you're out here making threats? What are you -- what are you thinking? What are you doing? Listen, listen, listen. Why don't you go sit down? I'll come back. I'll talk to you once I find out what's going on, okay?

E.J.: Hey. I got ahold of anna. She's in chicago. She's on her way over.

Lexie: Okay, good. I'll go and, uh, find out what's going on. Oh, my God!

Daniel: Come on, I need a defibrillator! Let's go! Get it gelled up. Charge to 200. Here we go. Nicole, get the hell out of this room.

Nicole: I, uh... I went to see tony.

E.J.: They told us that there were no visitors.

Nicole: I don't think I was supposed to, but I went to his room.

E.J.: What did he say?

Stefano: How's my son?

Nicole: I think he's dying.

Sami: Will, I thought you were spending time with your dad today.

Will: Yeah, right. Dad decides he's finally gonna come see me just when a bunch of us are getting up a game at the rec. I got to work on my jump hook.

Sami: You blew off your dad to play basketball?

Will: Well, what? Am I supposed to feel guilty?

Sami: I guess I just think it would really hurt his feelings, no?

Will: Hurt? Try relieved. More time with his amazing new wife.

Sami: He loves being with you, will. He misses you.

Will: Oh, yeah. I bet he cried himself to sleep every night, right?

Sami: You can stop with the sarcasm.

Will: You can stop like dad's all dying to see me. 'Cause it's not true, okay? And, besides, it's not like we have that great of a time together anyway.

Sami: You don't have fun with your dad?

Will: We don't have a lot in common.

Sami: Oh, come on, will. He is your dad. There's got to be something you can talk to him about.

Will: Well, not movies or music and stuff. I mean, we've got totally different tastes. Forget trying to joke around with the guy. He's got a weird sense of humor. I swear.

Sami: Okay. Well, you got to go easy on him, all right? Cut him some slack.

Will: I'm just telling you what I think.

Sami: Where is your cellphone today?

Will: It's at home.

Sami: How many times do we have to go over this? What is the point of having a cellphone if you're always gonna forget it? I've been trying to call you all morning.

Will: I'm sorry. What's up?

Sami: I have, um -- I have terrific news, actually. Um, I want to introduce you to your new sister.

Will: Shut up.

Sami: No, I'm actually serious. Um, will, this is your new baby sister, Grace. Grace is happy to meet her big brother.

Will: That is so lame. Oh, hi, Grace. I'm will. I know, we can start a show, call it "will and Grace."

Sami: This isn't a joke, will.

Will: Yeah, right.

Sami: I'm serious. Um, it's official today. I've adopted a baby, and her name is Grace. She's mine, ours.

Will: Really?

Sami: Yeah. This is your new baby sister. What do you think?

Will: Mom, are you nuts?

Hope: Okay, I think I've got the picture so far.

Philip: Hope, honest to God, he fell. I swear. It was an accident. I fell. I wrecked my hand. Tony -- he was walking away. He -- he leaned against the stairwell and it fell, and that's it.

Bo: It'd be nice if I didn't have to twist your damn arm to get the truth out of you.

Hope: The important thing is it's all out now. Okay, listen. I've got to talk to some people, tony when he's able but nicole right away.

Bo: Yeah, well, if she backs up your story, this whole thing will be ruled an accident.

Philip: We're talking about nicole here.

Hope: Meaning?

Philip: She's liable to say anything.

E.J.: Hey, um, doctor, how's tony doing?

Stefano: How's my son?

Will: You adopted a baby, and today's the first time I hear about it?

Sami: Look, I didn't know it was actually gonna happen. And, um, I didn't want to say anything until it did. And then all of a sudden --

Will: This is so completely bogus, mom.

Sami: Hey, there's no need to get angry, okay?

Will: You have two kids already.

Sami: And I love them very much, just like I love you.

Will: I'm sure.

Sami: Okay, so let me just explain what happened. I was in witness protection, and I was in the safe house. And one of the only places i could go was this orphanage. And that's where I met Grace. She was this beautiful little girl. And I fell in love with her. She was just so helpless and beautiful.

Will: You lie anytime you feel like it, don't you, mom? You just make stuff up, and everyone's supposed to buy it.

Sami: That's not a very nice thing to say.

Will: I heard you on the phone, mom, remember? You said "Grace," and I said, "who's Grace?" And you're like, "oh, no, no. I meant rafe."

Sami: I didn't want to say anything then because I wasn't sure it was gonna pan out.

Will: Mom, I've been asking you for two weeks -- okay, "is something wrong? What's going on?" And you lie to my face, as usual.

Rafe: Hey, will. How's it going?

Will: Just great, man.

Rafe: Um, there's a crazy backup in the kitchen, but i think your burger is on the grill. And, uh, I got to go make a phone call.

Will: Hey, hey. Did you know about this?

Sami: Will, he knew about it. He was with me in the safe house. He went with me to the orphanage.

Rafe: I got to make that call.

Sami: I'm sorry that I didn't tell you about this sooner.

Will: Forget it.

Sami: No, I'm not gonna forget it. You're upset, and that's fair. That's valid. We're gonna talk about it.

Will: Mom, I haven't seen you for a year. Johnny and allie have been without their mom for months and months. And you finally come home, and you're all, "oh, hey, I have a new baby." Why shouldn't I be mad? 'Cause you neglected us, found a new toy?

Daniel: Tony's heart stopped.

Stefano: Oh, God.

Daniel: But we managed to get it restarted. And right now, he is stable.

E.J.: Okay, thank God.

Daniel: Lexie is with him, and she won't leave his side until he's resting comfortably. All right? Well, I'll let lexie give you any further details. Excuse me.

Stefano: [Sighs] He is strong. I mean, he's a dimera.

Nicole: E.J., Um... I'm sorry. I-I know that... you and tony have your differences, but he's your brother. You have so much in common.

E.J.: [Chuckles] Yeah. Not really. You know, uh... when tony told me he was leaving, I was relieved, actually. Things have been very tense between the two of us since... since father asked me to run the company. Now I may not see him at all. There's an irony in that, maybe.

Hope: It's pretty rough in there, huh?

Daniel: Ugh. Very.

Hope: Listen, I need to question tony. Could I get a few minutes?

Daniel: He's unable to talk, physically unable, assuming he were even up for it.

Hope: Okay, in that case, i need to ask you. In your medical opinion, do his injuries look to be the result of an accidental fall or a deliberate wound?

Sami: Will, this little girl is not a toy.

Will: Okay, I didn't mean it.

Sami: And I never neglected you.

Will: Okay, I didn't mean... okay, look, it doesn't matter. You're gonna do what you want anyway.

Sami: Will, come back. Come on, let's just talk about it, all right?

Will: No, not if you're gonna cry all the time.

Sami: I'm not crying, all right? I'm upset because you're angry. So, sit down.

Will: Oh, my God.

Sami: And tell me why you're upset. Is it because there's gonna be a new baby in the house?

Will: I don't know. Look, things were always just kind of screwed up when I was little.

Sami: I know. I know. And I -- I feel terrible about it. And I spent so much time trying to make it up to you.

Will: My God, you're gonna cry again.

Sami: I'm not... I'm not crying.

Will: Look, I'm not out to make you feel bad, okay, mom?

Sami: I know that.

Will: And I don't want you feeling sorry for me, either. So things were screwed up when i was little. Big deal. I'm here now. I'm okay.

Sami: You're more than okay. You're fantastic, will. I am so proud of you.

Will: Yeah. Yeah. Look, all I'm saying is when i was little... there were times that I -- i needed you. And you just weren't there.

Sami: I know. I know. And I will never be able to say "I'm sorry" enough for what you went through as a kid. I know how far I was from being a perfect mom.

Will: Yeah, but now you got a new kid. I mean, come on, mom. It's just wrong.

Sami: Will, I am with Grace because I'M... because I'm her... her best chance at a good life. Will, she needs me. She needs us. She was -- she was abandoned.

Will: Yeah. I know the feeling. Believe me.

Daniel: Deliberate attack or accident? Well, it's the upward angle of the wound that speaks to me. No one could have pushed that wood shard into him from that angle.

Hope: So he had to have fallen on it.

Daniel: Right. But did he slip and fall, or was he pushed?

Lexie: Father.

Stefano: Oh, yes.

Lexie: Tony's stable. He's resting.

Stefano: Oh, good. Can I see him now?

Lexie: I asked him if it was all right, and, uh, he shook his head "no."

Stefano: Sweetheart, in a time like this, a father should be with his son.

Lexie: I know. I know. I'll keep trying once he's rested, okay?

Stefano: All right. Thank you. Thank you.

Daniel: What do you think?

Hope: I'm not taking a position yet, not till I talk to the witness.

Lexie: What's wrong? What's wrong? You think you can write down what it is you have to say? Yeah? Okay, let me -- let me get a -- here. Here's a pencil and some paper. Okay. All right, calm down. Calm down. All right. Take it easy, tony. Take it easy, all right? Actually, this may be pretty difficult. The anesthetic has numbed your entire upper torso, including your arms.

Tony: [Breathing heavily]

Tony: [Breathing heavily]

Lexie: Shh. Shh. Shh. E.J. Do you want E.J. To come in and see you? Yeah? Okay. Okay. I'll go get him. You stay calm, okay? Okay.

E.J.: I can see you're really upset, too.

Nicole: Of course I am. I mean, it's so frightening, not -- not knowing if tony's gonna live or -- or die. And not to mention, the poor man can't even communicate with anyone.

Lexie: E.J., Um, tony would like to see you.

Sami: I'm sorry that you feel abandoned, but that just simply isn't the case, will. I love you. I have always loved you. And I hope -- I hope somewhere inside you really know that.

Will: Yeah. Okay, yeah.

Sami: Will, you were the one who chose to go to switzerland to live with carrie and austin.

Will: Oh, what, so -- so now I abandoned you?

Sami: No, I am not making accusations here. I'm just trying to explain -- we have to find a way to work through this, okay? I love you. And I know that you're angry at me right now. But we are a family. And -- and Grace is innocent in all of this, right? And she's what's important right now. She's part of our family now, and she's gonna need you. She's gonna need you to be her big brother, to look out for her, right, be there for her.

Will: Just like my mom was there for me. Okay, look, I'm done with the tears.

Sami: Will, where are you going?

Will: Out. And don't wait up for me tonight, okay? I'm sleeping at Grandma caroline'S.

[Door slams]

Rafe: Hey, thanks, man. I'll call you later. Hey, will, how you doing, man? Um, listen, uh, I just wanted to tell you I know that Grace has got to be a big shock for you. And it's got to be kind of weird, right? It's weird you find out you've got this sister all of a sudden, especially finding out like that. I don't blame you for being ticked off. But there's something about Grace, something you should know.

E.J.: Okay, listen, sweetheart. I'm gonna be back in a few. I'm sure tony isn't up for a long visit, okay?

Nicole: Okay. Oh, uh, wait. I'll -- I'll go with you.

Hope: Excuse me. Um, I need to ask you a few questions.

Nicole: You know what, hope? It's gonna have to wait 'cause I'm gonna go in and see tony.

Lexie: Actually, I'd prefer he only have one visitor at a time. He's very weak.

E.J.: It's okay. You can come in after me, all right?

Nicole: Okay.

Hope: Guess you have time for me now.

Nicole: Mm. So, what's this about?

Hope: Actually, it's about tony.

Lexie: Tony's operation required his upper torso be anesthetized, which eliminates the need for morphine. Um, he's been communicating in writing, which, uh, is very difficult since his arms have also been affected by the anesthesia.

[Pager beeping]

Lexie: Uh, excuse me. Uh, his latest test results just came in. Don't stay too long, okay?

E.J.: Sure.
