Hope: It's the real stuff, isn't it?

Julie: It's full of whipping cream.

Doug: An extra notch on the old belt.

Hope: Oh, Daddy, it's Christmas. Indulge, indulge.

Julie: I've got hot apple cider. Would you like some hot cider?

Alice: I'll have a little. Of course.

Doug: It's the best tree we've had.

Hope: Honey, could you fetch me those ornaments over there?

Chelsea: Uh-huh.

Hope: Thanks, Chelse. It smells so good, doesn't it?

Doug: Did you get this? Did you buy this?

Hope: Bo chopped it down.

Bo: I chopped it down out in the woods.

Ford: Gee, another year, another victim. You know, they say it gets easier after the second one.

Bo: Whoa. Hey. Kid, you all right?

Hope: Honey, did you see someone outside?

Chelsea: No. No, of course not. I'm sorry. I'm such a klutz.

Bo: We'll hang these later, okay? You can hang these if you want.

Max: All right, you guys. Let's go this way. Sit by the tree. Grab a cookie, some punch, whatever. Santa's on his way.

Alana: What's the difference between Santa Claus and Saint Nick?

Nick: That's a really good question, Alana.

Brendan: Your name's Nick. Are you a saint?

Alana: And who's Krispy Kringle?

Nick: It's actually Kris Kringle.

Max: Wow, looks like you got your hands full.

Nick: This is Brendan and Alana.

Max: Hi, guys. How you doing?

Nick: You guys like candy canes?

Alana: Yeah.

Nick: Well, here you go. Here's some candy canes. Here you go. Go sit down for me. And give them to everybody else. Yeah. Yeah, more candy canes. Hey, guys. You want some?

Max: Bribery. That works.

Nick: I thought Artemis and Demarquette were inquisitive.

Max: Let's just hope Santa Steve gets here, all right?

Nick: Well, uh, where's Steph? Maybe she knows where he is.

Max: Um, no. I don't think so.

Nick: Why not?

Max: Well, she and I aren't really in sync right now.

Marlena: Hello. Are you there? Of course you're not there. It's Christmas, for heaven's sake.

Crystal: I know why you've come.

E.J.: Father.

Stefano: Ah, well. This is a surprise, huh? I figured that you would be celebrating the holidays with your wife and your son.

E.J.: Well, I, um... I have some good news and some bad news.

Stefano: Ah. Dare I ask what the bad news is?

E.J.: Samantha has decided to be with Lucas.

Stefano: That is unacceptable. She has betrayed us, and she is going to pay dearly.

E.J.: Don't you want to know what the good news is?

Stefano: Unless you tell me that she immediately relented...

E.J.: No, but it's pretty good. See, I learned how to do wheelies. You like that?

Stefano: Bravo! That is very good.

E.J.: No, that's not my good news.

Stefano: All right.

E.J.: Wait for it.

Stefano: What?

E.J.: No, no, no, no, no. Let me do this. [Grunting]

Stefano: Ah!

E.J.: Maybe a little strega will help me up.

Stefano: Very good.

E.J.: Mmm.

Stefano: My God. My God, look at you. Look at you! You are standing! Oh, Elvis. Elvis, wonderful. Look at this. Ah! Ah!

Julie: Doorbell! Doorbell!

Maggie: I got it! Got it! Merry Christmas!

Sami: Hi! Merry Christmas.

Maggie: Oh, aren't you a cutie? Lucas? Lucas? He's parking the car?

Sami: Um, actually, he, uh, had some things to do, so he'll be here in a little bit.

Kate: Lucas. What are you doing?

Abe: Merry Christmas.

Nick: Merry Christmas.

Abe: Okay. Oh, excuse me.

Roman: The strange thing is, last time I talked to Marlena, she said she'd be here.

Caroline: Oh. Well, maybe Lexie has seen her because she's volunteering today.

Abe: Cancer Ward, yeah.

Steve: Well, let's go see what we can find out, huh?

Abe: Right behind you.

Roman: Okay.

Abe: Excuse me. Sorry.

Max: Hey, Merry Christmas, guys.

Caroline: Oh, Merry Christmas. Oh, you look so nice.

Roman: Hey.

Kayla: Very sweet of you to help out with the kids. You're a good guy.

Max: Can I steal you for a second?

Kayla: Sure. Why?

Max: Um... I kind of had an ulterior motive for being here. I was hoping Steph would come by.

Kayla: Oh, well, she decided to stay home. Cordy's coming over.

Max: Bummer. I had something I wanted to give her.

Kayla: Max, you've always been so good to her. I can't tell you how much I appreciate that.

Max: Well, I'm trying. She keeps giving me the brush-off lately, like I did something wrong.

Kayla: Trust me. It's not you.

Max: Well, I mean, is it weird? I know the family connection thing, but, I mean, if that's the case, why doesn't she just tell me?

Maggie: Oh, good.

Hope: Honey, is something wrong?

Chelsea: I just miss Zack.

Hope: I know, honey. We all do. Oh, gosh. It's especially difficult during the holidays.

Chelsea: It's my fault that he's gone. It's my fault that he's never gonna be able to spend another holiday with his family again.

Hope: Chelsea --

Chelsea: If I was just a little more careful, he'd still be here. I'm sorry. I'm gonna go. Tell everyone thank you for me, though.

Hope: Chel–

Bo: Fancy Face?

Hope: It was seeing Zack's ornament. She still feels so guilty.

Bo: I'll go talk to her.

Hope: Okay.

Bo: Hey, kid. What you doing out here?

Chelsea: I'm just not really in the holiday spirit, Dad. You should go back in, though.

Bo: No. I think I'll hang out, out here with you.

Chelsea: It's just been a really lousy year.

Bo: Yeah, we've had our ups and downs, but we made it through, didn't we?

Chelsea: No, we didn’t. Ford Decker is --

Bo: Hey, hey. Stop. Stop blaming yourself. You and the girls, you did the best you could to stop him. You should be proud of yourself. I know I am. Come here.

[Liquid sloshes]

Kate: Where did you get it?

Lucas: Does it matter where I got it? It's gone now.

Kate: Are you still going to your meetings?

Lucas: Yes, of course I am. And I wasn't gonna drink it.

Kate: I know. I know. It's just that you're under a lot of stress right now, okay, and that's never gonna help.

Lucas: I know.

Kate: It's a lonely road out there, Lucas. Are you sure you can handle it?

Lucas: Let me see her. There we go. I got her. Yeah, well, I got a lot to stay sober for, don't I?

Kate: Yes, you do.

Lucas: Listen, honey. Daddy's got to go away for a little while, but you got a lot of people who love you, people who could take good care of you. You got your mom and your grandma, your Godmother, Billie. You are gonna be in great hands.

[Knock on door]

Billie: Knock, knock. Hi, Merry Christmas.

Kate: Hey, Merry Christmas.

Billie: Something is wrong, and one of you better start talking.

Stefano: This is -- this is wonderful. I mean, it's truly the best gift you could possibly give me.

E.J.: Actually, I have another gift for you.

Stefano: Oh?

E.J.: Yeah. [Grunts] Merry Christmas.

Stefano: [Laughs] Thank you.

E.J.: Let me.

Stefano: [Gasps] Oh. [Clicks tongue] [Sighs] The next two generations of the DiMeras. I-I-I will treasure this always.

E.J.: I'm glad you like it. You're a man who has everything. It's not very easy to get you a Christmas present.

Stefano: This is perfect. Now I have to find the perfect place. So... oh, here. Here. Look, look. How about -- is that good? Perfect. Ah, Elvis, you know, it's funny. You say I am the man who has everything, but what do I really have, Elvis? I have an empty house. I have children who do not call me on Christmas.

E.J.: Oh, no, no, no, Father. Look, you got me. You have Johnny.

Stefano: Yes. You are a very good son.

E.J.: We have a lot to celebrate. Look at you. You've got your health, you know. You got a new grandson. He's very handsome. I think this is gonna be a banner year for the DiMeras.

Stefano: Contingent on one thing, of course.

E.J.: What's that?

Stefano: That this will be the year that the Brady’s will finally reap their just rewards.

Marlena: I had a call saying that my dry cleaning was ready, but I'll just come back tomorrow.

Crystal: Or perhaps it was fate that brought you here.

Marlena: Excuse me?

Crystal: My name is Crystal.

Marlena: [Laughs] Of course it is.

Crystal: Would you like to come in out of the cold?

Marlena: No, no. I'm really good, thanks.

Crystal: You don't believe in the spirit world, do you?

Marlena: Uh, no, I-I do. I, uh, I do. Sort of. I-I've got a friend who's a big believer in the afterlife.

Crystal: And you?

Marlena: I-I-I believe in that, too. I don't believe that you can contact somebody who is no longer of this world.

Crystal: That's such a shame. I can see that you're lost and you're lonely. And... you're searching for your love. Am I right? Let me tell you a little secret. I can bring him to you.

Sami: Look how cute you are. You look beautiful. Hey, cousin. Look at all those presents.

Shawn D.: Belle kind of went overboard this year.

Belle: Oh, I did not.

Shawn D.: I'm gonna put these under the tree.

Belle: Go with daddy.

Sami: Let me get your coats. Let me get your coat, anyway.

Belle: Anyway, I just heard about you and Lucas, and I'm so excited.

Sami: Thank you. I'm really happy, too.

Belle: Is everybody here?

Sami: Yeah, everyone except mom and Lucas.

Belle: Mom's not here yet? I talked to her earlier today. She said she was coming here first and then going to the hospital.

Sami: Well, Bo is checking into it. He's gonna find her. And I, um -- I actually don't know what is keeping Lucas.

Billie: Is someone going on a trip?

Lucas: It's Sami's. She's getting her stuff out of E.J.'s apartment.

Billie: Really? I wasn't aware she had actually moved anything over there.

Philip: You okay, Mom?

Kate: Yeah, I'm fine. [Cellphone ringing]

Philip: Who was that?

Lucas: I'll call him back later.

Billie: Lucas, what's going on?

Lucas: Nothing. I'll fill you in later, Billie.

Billie: Lucas.

Lucas: What? Allie's Godmother has a job to do, remember?

Billie: Be safe.

Lucas: Always.

Billie: Okay. Well, I should probably get going. I told Hope I'd be there about a half an hour ago. Is Allie ready?

Lucas: Yeah. She's all set. You gonna be good? You gonna be good for your Godmother? You promise? She said "yeah." [Smooches] I love you. Be careful. Watch her head.

Billie: I got her.

Lucas: You sure?

Billie: Yeah, I got her.

Lucas: Right there. Perfect.

Billie: Hi, sweetie pie. Hi, little one.

Lucas: Just remember, keep her ears covered. And the car seat, remember, with the latch. You know how that works?

Billie: She'll be fine, okay? I wish I could be as confident about her father.

Kate: Don't worry about your brother. I'm gonna keep my eye on him.

Philip: I'll get the bag.

Lucas: Thanks, Philip.

Billie: Okay, well, we shouldn't be too late -- about 7:00 or 8:00.

Lucas: All right.

Philip: I'll walk you downstairs.

Billie: Okay.

Lucas: I love you. I love you so much. [Smooches] You be a good girl, okay? You're in good hands. Keep her covered like that.

Billie: Okay. Bye.

Kids: Santa! Santa! Santa! Santa!

Nick: Okay, all right. Santa is on his way. He's coming. But in the meantime, how about a magic trick?

Kids: Yeah!

Nick: Wah!

Kids: Whoa!

Kayla: You know, Max, don't give up on Stephanie, all right?

Max: She won't return my calls. I feel like she needs some space, so maybe I should respect that.

Kayla: That is the worst thing that you can do.

Max: Is there something you're not telling me, Kayla?

Kayla: No. I-I-I just think that she needs you more than you can realize.

Max: Oh.

Kayla: Here's Steve. Hi. Did you find Marlena?

Abe: Lexie spoke to her this morning. She said something about going to the cleaners to pick up some things.

Caroline: It's Christmas. It won't be open.

Steve: We think she could be walking into a trap.

Kayla: Because of Stefano?

Abe: Now that Sami left E.J., who can tell what that monster might do?

Steve: I'm gonna head downtown. She uses that cleaner on Front Street, right?

Abe: Yeah. I'm gonna go and check out her town house.

Roman: I'll call the station.

Steve: Listen, I'm sorry about the kids.

Kayla: That's all right. You just find Marlena and be careful, all right?

Steve: I will.

Nick: Whoa, whoa, whoa. Steve! Hey, Steve! Where is he going?

Kayla: We have a bit of a dilemma.

Nick: What do you mean? Are you telling me that Santa's not gonna show up?

Kayla: Um... Santa's right here.

Max: Um...

Nick: That's good.

Kayla: Whoa, check you out! You look great. You look so good.

Nick: Max?

Max: Uh-huh.

Nick: You look ridiculous!

Max: You hear what I'm saying? This is what I'm talking about.

Nick: I got to take a picture of this.

Max: Put that away, Nick.

Nick: Santa's getting angry.

Kayla: Come on.

Nick: Oh, man. You got to take care of the kids. You better go ahead.

Kayla: You are gonna be great. Come on.

Nick: The kids are waiting for you.

Max: Funny. Funny. Oh, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey.

Nick: What?

Max: Well, I got a little surprise for you.

Nick: Okay.

Max: For every Santa, there's an elf.

Nick: What, are you kidding?

Max: Yeah, look at that. You look good.

Max: All right. You situated? Here's our story. Can you help me hold that? Thank you. Okay. If I can see this. "And so it came to pass in the town of Bethlehem. Joseph took his wife, Mary, who was with child conceived of the holy spirit. And so it was that while they were there, Mary brought forth her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling clothes... and laid him in a manger because there was no room for them at the inn. And there in the field were shepherds keeping watch over their flock by night, and the angel of the Lord came upon them and said, 'fear not, for I bring you good tidings of great joy. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a savior which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you and shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.' And suddenly, there with the angel, a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, 'glory to God in the highest, and on earth, peace and goodwill toward men.'" Oh, thank you so much for helping me. Thank you. And you've all been wonderful listeners. You guys are great. Um...do you have a question?

Kids: Aren't you gonna read us a Hanukkah story?

Max: Oh.

Kid: My family celebrates Kwanza. Can you tell us a story about that?

Max: Kwanza.

Nick: Tell us the Kwanza story.

Max: Well, I, um... I think that, um...

Kids: [Talking excitedly over each other]

Max: Shh.

Maggie: Oh, no. Jeremy's is broken.

Alice: Don't worry, dear. We'll get another one for next year.

Kids: Do you like cheese?

Nick: I do like cheese. Listen up, some of you guys, like Chris and Alana, you celebrate some holiday besides Christmas. And that's awesome because no matter who or what you believe in, the story you just heard is basically about one thing. It's about hope. And when people come together and new life comes into this world, it doesn't matter if it's Christmas or Dewali or Hanukkah.

Max: That's right. You could be Christian or Jewish, Buddhist or Muslim. You could even be a transformer from cybertron. [Laughter] But today's about hope, and it's about peace. And, most of all, it is about love.

Marlena: You should be ashamed of yourself, telling me that you could communicate with -- how dare you?

Crystal: I see a man. He's -- he's in a forest. He's reading something -- a book, an inscription, and a plaque, a plaque with his name on it.

Marlena: John? Oh, John. His name was forest for a while.

Crystal: Black.

Marlena: What?

Crystal: I see a black robe. Was he a judge or a priest?

Marlena: Priest for a while. He's gone. He's gone. He died over two months ago.

Crystal: He's not dead. He is very much alive.

Lucas: Now all I have to do is get out of here before she gets back.

Kate: Okay. And I'll be there, right where we said we'd meet.

Lucas: Make sure she gets that letter. [Sighs]

Philip: So, I guess this is it, huh?

Lucas: What are you talking about?

Philip: What, the suitcase? Come on, man. I'm not stupid.

Lucas: Yeah, I know, Philip. I know you're not stupid.

Philip: How can you walk away from your family? Take it from someone who's been there. When I left Belle, it was the biggest mistake of my life. It's not worth it, Lucas.

Lucas: Merry Christmas, okay?

Philip: Don't give me that. Come here.

Lucas: Take care of mom.

Marlena: What do you mean, he's not dead? I was holding him in my arms. I watched him die.

Crystal: Do you always believe what you see?

Marlena: Who are you? I don't know who you are.

Crystal: This man, your husband, he's still out there.

Marlena: What are you trying to do to me?

Crystal: You'll be together again.

Steve: Marlena!

Marlena: Yes.

Steve: There you are. You all right? You had everybody worried.

Marlena: Oh, I'm sorry. I'm -- I just came to pick up some of John's dry cleaning, and I met this strange woman.

Steve: You went to a psychic?

Marlena: No. No. We were just talking. Outside. Right here. That's all. Just talking.

Steve: She didn't upset you or anything?

Marlena: No. No. In fact, she -- she gave me hope. [Laughs]

Sami: Look who's here. Hi, sweetie. Where's Lucas? Um, well, he did come with you, didn't he?

Maggie: Um, I have dinner in the oven. Excuse me.

Billie: Lucas asked me to bring Allie today.

Sami: But he's coming.

Billie: He said something last night that --

Sami: What?

Billie: He wanted to make sure that Allie was well taken care of in case something happened to him.

Sami: He promised me that he wouldn't leave.

Billie: He had a suitcase packed, Sami.

Sami: Would you please stay with the --

Billie: Yes. Go.

Kayla: Is this your present? Oh, wait, I think this is your present. Here you go. I think this is your present.

Nick: Hey, Chelse. Who died?

Chelsea: What? Nobody.

Nick: Oh. Okay.

Chelsea: Sorry. It just hasn't really been my best Christmas. That's all.

Nick: Well, I think I know what will cheer you up -- a little elf lovin'. Follow me.

Max: Ho! I thought Cordy was coming with you.

Stephanie: I was with her earlier, but her parents picked her up.

Max: Oh.

Stephanie: Merry Christmas.

Max: You too. You look good.

Stephanie: You look...jolly.

Max: Yes, that's me. Jolly old Max.

Stephanie: It was really nice of you to do this for the kids.

Max: Yeah. Well, if our old racing buddies saw me like this...

Stephanie: Look, um, I know things have been really tense between us lately, and I just wanted to tell you that it's totally my fault.

Max: It's okay.

Stephanie: No, it's not okay. You've been nothing but a good friend to me, especially through this whole Ford thing.

Max: Steph, it's because I care about you. I'd do anything for you.

Sami: Lucas? Lucas? What are you doing here? Where is --

Lucas: "Sami, remember how you told me sometimes we're forced to do things we don't want to do to protect our family? I didn't understand that at first, but I do now. Baby, this is the hardest thing I've ever had to do, but I hope you'll at least try to understand. And I know that's asking a lot, but I love you and I love our kids, and you'll have to be strong for them. I'll do anything to protect you guys, even if it means saying goodbye."

Sami: [Sobbing]

Max: I'm having a hard time trying to figure out what's okay.

Stephanie: It's not you. Look, please don't make this harder than it has to be. It's never gonna work for us.

Max: Steph, wait. I'm not gonna let you leave here until I tell you how I really feel. If you just give me a chance, I'm there. I'm all in, 100%.

Stephanie: I'm sorry.

Max: [Clears throat]

Chelsea: Nick, it's us!

Nick: Nick and Chelsea, the early years.

Chelsea: How'd you do this?

Nick: I found this cool feature on Walgreens.com that helps you make photo albums and stuff.

Chelsea: This is the best gift ever. Thank you. I love you, pointy ears and all.

Ford: Gee, Chelsea, I wonder who your next victim will be.

Stefano: [Sighs] You know, I remember when you were a little boy. We would take our little winter trips to Cortina. And you would run around trying to catch the snowflakes with your tongue. [Laughs] And all the sleigh rides. Ah. Yes. [Sighs] Merry Christmas, Elvis.

E.J.: Merry Christmas, Father.

Stefano: Hmm. Rolf. Is he prepared?

Rolf: He is.

Stefano: I would like to put the finishing touches on myself.

Marlena: I'm sorry. I didn't mean to worry everybody. Oh.

Steve: Hey, listen. Why don't you let me give you a lift to Alice's? If we hurry, I can get you there in time for Christmas dinner. You know, they say the first Christmas is the hardest. I've been thinking a lot about Benjy. I think about John, too. It's hard to face the holidays when someone you love is gone.

Marlena: No, John isn't -- John is...always with me. Right here.

Steve: I know. I know he is.

Doug: Have yourself a merry little Christmas let your heart be light from now on our troubles will be out of sight oh, have yourself a merry little Christmas make the yuletide gay from now on our troubles will be miles away here we are, as in olden days happy golden days of yore faithful friends who are dear to us gather near to us once more through the years, we all will be together if the fates allow hang a shining star upon the highest bough and have yourself a merry little Christmas now oh, here we are as in olden days happy golden days of yore faithful friends who are dear to us gather near to us once more through the years, we all will be together if the fates allow hang a shining star upon the highest bough and have yourself a merry little Christmas.

Alice: Merry Christmas, Tom.

All: Merry Christmas!

Rolf: Everything is ready, Stefano.

Stefano: Excellent. Let us proceed. A new life...for a new year. [Sighs] Oh. [Chuckles] Welcome home.

Crawford: Where's my son?

Sami: I just want you to help me find him.

Roman: We're gonna have to arrest Lucas for attempted murder
