Morgan: Okay, sweetie, here you go. Chai, two sugars.

Stephanie: Thanks.

Morgan: And thank you for giving me a ride home. I'm really sorry about your friend. From what Max said, he was a really special guy.

Stephanie: Yeah, John's really great. Maybe I'll check in with my mom at the hospital, see how he's doing. I'll probably head home after. I'm pretty beat.

Morgan: Yeah, I'm sure all that ducking and hiding really wears a girl out.

Stephanie: What?

Morgan: You just happened to show up at Brady's pub as Max and I were leaving? Come on, Steph. I saw you following us the whole night.

Jeremy: Ooh! And Horton completes another one!

Nick: This is not soldier field, all right? Game's over.

Artemis: But we were winning!

Nick: Well, win at chess. It's quieter.

Jeremy: Somebody woke up on the wrong side of the textbook.

Nick: Don't worry. I got your chips.

Jeremy: Good man.

Nick: All right, you guys, hit the books.

Artemis: But, Dad!

Nick: Don't "but, dad" me. I did not just say that.

Both: Thanks, Uncle Jeremy.

Jeremy: No problem, guys.

Nick: I heard you all the way down the hall, dude. Noise brings complaints. Complaints bring cops. And cops aren't your friends.

Jeremy: You know kids. They just get a little carried away. [Knock on door] Oh, damn, someone did call the cops.

Nick: Relax. It's not the cops.

Jeremy: You got X-ray vision?

Nick: I brought in the reserves.

Maggie: Hello, Jeremy.

Stefano: I'm glad that Samantha signed, but to make the annulment official, Lucas has to sign, too.

E.J.: He will. Frankly, John's accident's been a bit of a Godsend, you know? You, uh...you sure you didn't have anything to do with that?

Stefano: [Clicks tongue]

E.J.: Oh, come on. It's a bit of a coincidence, don't you think?

Stefano: How is John?

E.J.: Uh, well, they don't think he's gonna make it through the night.

Stefano: I'm sorry to hear that.

Marlena: You still know how to work a crowd.

John: You guys got nothing better to do?

Bo: Can't think of a thing.

Marlena: John.

John: Where's Claire?

Belle: Shawn took her home. She was getting a little fussy.

Marlena: He can bring her back in a while, sweetie.

Hope: For now I guess you're stuck with us, John.

John: Yeah, well, you Brady’s are kind of hard to get rid of.

Kayla: It's impossible, so don't even try.

John: Lucky me. Lucky me.

Bo: You rest, man. Like you said, we're not going anywhere.

Steve: That's right. Whether you like it or not.

Belle: His heart rate is slowing.

Kayla: He's getting weaker.

Belle: Can't you give him medicine to raise it?

Kayla: Only temporary. There's too much damage.

Belle: Then you have to operate again.

Kayla: There's nothing we can do. We just have to try to make him comfortable.

Stephanie: This is a joke, right?

Morgan: I saw you at the racetracks.

Stephanie: You were there? No kidding. I go there all the time. I have a lot of friends who work the pits.

Morgan: I owe you an apology then, huh?

Stephanie: No, no, really. It's totally okay. I'd feel weird, too, if I thought you were following me on one of my dates.

Morgan: You know what was really weird, though, was when I caught you staring at Max and me at Brady Pub.

Stephanie: I meet up with Chelsea there all the time. I thought I explained that.

Morgan: Look, Steph, just so you know, an Alpha Chi Theta does not take another girl's guy. So if you have a thing for Max, honey, just let me know.

Nick: I got to go get the kids ready for bed.

Jeremy: And his good deeds never end.

Maggie: Well, it wouldn't hurt for you to do one once in a while.

Nick: Good luck!

Jeremy: Yeah, I'll need it. I know the Horton creed, okay? "Do the right thing." Great Gran's been preaching it forever.

Maggie: Maybe I should bring Alice over to talk some old-fashioned sense into you.

Jeremy: No, she doesn't need this, all right? And I don't need this either.

Maggie: What do you need, Jeremy?

Jeremy: I need you to walk out and forget you saw me.

Maggie: I can’t.

Jeremy: Then you better make good on your threat, Aunt Mags, because I am not turning myself in.

E.J.: Well, at least Samantha's ready to meet our terms. I thought you'd be a bit happier, actually.

Stefano: I am happy, for you, Elvis, but with Andre gone and now this business with John... an honorable man is losing his life -- an adversary who matched me move for move.

E.J.: After all the years that you tried to destroy John, now you're sad that you succeeded?

Stefano: Why do you continue to believe that I arranged John's accident?

E.J.: Father, I know you did.

Bo: Marlena, I hate to do this to you right now, but I got to ask you a few questions while this is all fresh in your mind.

Marlena: My mind isn't working so well right now.

Bo: I understand. Do you remember anything about the incident -- type of car, the color? Did you see the driver?

Marlena: No, it happened so fast. It was a sedan. I don't know what color it was.

Bo: It's all right. It's all right. It's okay.

John: Hey, Brady. What are you doing, putting in time with my wife? [Laughter]

Bo: No, I'm just taking food orders. You know what you want?

John: You know I do.

Bo: [Laughs]

John: The usual.

Bo: Yeah, clam chowder.

Hope: Caroline's already working on it.

John: And how about a cold one?

Kayla: Well, we'll see about beer.

Steve: What are you talking about? Come on. Don't you worry. I'll work on her, man.

Bo: Yeah, we both will work on her. Yeah, we'll get that cold one for you. Hey, listen, man, I've been thinking. Yeah, I know that's dangerous, but... when it comes to your parents, you don't have much choice. But your family...well, that's a bit more flexible. There's the family that you're born into, the blood relatives. Then there's the family you choose... you know, people who really know you. They're there for you when you get married. They're handing out cigars when babies are born. They're your family. And, uh... if someone declares war on one of us, it's on all of us. John... you're family. Hell, you're as much a Brady as I am.

John: By God, Bo... you win this damn war.

Bo: Hey, it'd be a hell of a lot easier with you standing beside me. I need all my brothers. So don't you go anywhere. John? Kay?

Kayla: He's lost consciousness.

Belle: Mom?

Marlena: It's okay. His body needs to rest, that's all.

Hope: Hey, where are you going?

Bo: I just -- I got to get out of here, get some air.

Hope: I'll go with you.

Bo: No, no. Stay here. The family needs you.

Hope: I love you, Brady.

Bo: Yeah.

Steve: Should I go with him?

Hope: No. No, he needs time alone.

Roman: Bo -- Bo, we got to set that trap for E.J.

Bo: Roman, my wife is in trouble. Have somebody else do it.

Roman: Who? We don't have anybody else.

John: You never bail on a friend, Bo. Neither will I. Go on. Find Hope. I'll handle Wells.

Bo: Thanks, man.

Jeremy: I won't change my mind.

Maggie: You know, your dad, he's called a dozen times wanting some news.

Jeremy: That I was in jail?

Maggie: You start there. You don't have to end there.

Jeremy: The world's not as nice as you are, Aunt Maggie. Nobody's lining up to hire an ex-con after he's done his time, especially if he's a repeat offender.

Maggie: Lucky you've got a lot of family who's willing to take a chance on you.

Jeremy: I'd make a lousy waiter, and I'm not much of a cook. Chez Rouge is out.

Maggie: You're better than this.

Jeremy: How do you know?

Maggie: Nick is sticking his neck out for you. He tells me that you make up great bedtime stories for the kids and that you whip up pancakes shaped like wild animals and that you defend them when some goon shows up at the door wanting to hurt them. Please take a chance on us, just a little one. Just... see what happens.

Jeremy: What about the cops?

Maggie: I'm gonna give you one more chance, Jeremy. I hope you do the right thing.

Morgan: Look, Steph, I know you and Max hung out a lot last year and you've had more encounters recently.

Stephanie: "Encounters" is the right word. Me and Max decided that we'd be better off as friends.

Morgan: So you followed us tonight all night because he's your friend?

Stephanie: Look, you two are completely different people. I just wanted to make sure no one was gonna get hurt.

Morgan: Sweetie, that's real great, but I'm pretty sure that Max can take care of himself and Lord knows I can.

Stephanie: But you and Max are done with the auction date, so...

Morgan: Not done. Lordy, only starting if I got a say in it.

Stephanie: It was that good, huh?

Morgan: Best $500 I've ever spent.

Billie: Steph, hey. Have you got a sec?

Stephanie: Yeah, sure. What's up?

Billie: Where's Chelsea?

Stephanie: I'm not really sure. But, Billie, this is Morgan Hollingsworth. Morgan, this is Billie Reed, Chelsea's mom and head of campus security.

Morgan: Oh, then it's really nice to meet you.

Billie: This is Jett Carver. He works with me.

Jett: Hey, Steph. Nice to meet you.

Stephanie: Morgan is president of Alpha Chi Theta.

Billie: Oh, good. Then you'll help me get the word out. There's been an incident on campus.

Morgan: What kind of incident?

Jett: It's pretty bad. One of the students was nearly raped.

Steve: [Sighs] Any change? Would it be okay if I had a little talk with him?

Kayla: That's a good idea. Here. Here's a chair.

Steve: [Laughs] Look at you, buddy. [Sighs] Man, I just feel like I'm gonna blow sitting around this joint.

Hope: We need you, John.

Steve: Amen. Whoever did this to you is still out there running around. Laying around here is not gonna cut it.

Hope: That's right. You listen to him. We need your help to find the perp.

Steve: We know who it is.

Hope: Steve.

Steve: He's right down the hall.

Hope: Now is not the time.

Steve: It's never the time, is it? It's never the time.

Hope: Steve.

Lucas: Mom. What are you doing here?

Kate: I'm here to see a dear friend.

Marlena: Come in.

Kate: Thank you. How's he doing?

Marlena: We're losing him.

Kate: I'm sorry. [Sighs] I'm sorry. I didn't think I'd do this.

Marlena: He can probably hear you.

Kate: Remember the last time we saw each other? You were pretty disappointed in me. Now, you know I usually don't give a damn what people think about me. But with you... I always did. So, you got to help me out here. 'Cause I can't spend the rest of my life wondering if I let you down.

John: Never.

Marlena: John? Hey. Hey. It took Kate to wake you up, huh?

John: It takes you to keep me.

Marlena: Yeah.

Belle: He's getting stronger. Does this mean he'll make it?

Marlena: John. We're here. Easy. Easy. Easy.

Stefano: Life is fated, Elvis.

E.J.: Maybe. You have a history of giving fate a little push, you know?

Stefano: I see. So you're going to refuse to believe that I had nothing to do with John's accident. All right, fine, as you wish. But do me a favor, please. Check up on John. Let me know how he's doing.

E.J.: Of course. All right, I won't be long.

Stefano: Be discrete.

E.J.: I'm always discrete.

Stefano: If it means anything, you and Samantha make whatever days I have left happy ones.

E.J.: Good. That makes it all worthwhile.

Stefano: [Sighs] [Sighs]

Bo: "Death in Venice." Appropriate reading under the circumstances.

Stefano: Ah. Your sarcasm lives through tragedy. How is John?

Bo: They don't think he'll make it.

Stefano: I'm sorry to hear that.

Bo: Yeah. I'm sure you're all busted up.

Stefano: Please, leave me to my reading.

Bo: So we're not interrupted. Who ran John down?

Stefano: Get out.

Bo: What, right when things are about to get interesting? I come out here and I can do anything because of the energy I get. But today is a hard day for me. Today is bad. And I am

Belle: I, uh, I pulled some pictures of tuxedos out for the wedding. The first thing I thought was how handsome my dad's gonna look walking me down the aisle when I marry Shawn. Of course, if it was up to Shawn, we'd all be wearing jeans and t-shirts.

Hope: We'll work on him.

Marlena: John, easy. Easy.

Kate: Can't you give him something for the pain?

Marlena: He's at his limit. John, try to rest. Just rest. Just rest. We'll all be right here. Easy, easy, baby. Easy.

Sami: She'll be okay.

Lucas: Look, it's gonna be a long night. I'll get you some tea or something, all right?

Sami: No, I actually want to go. I'll get it.

Kate: So, are you still marrying E.J.?

Sami: More like surviving E.J. But you should be smiling. You're getting what you want, huh?

Kate: The last thing in the world I want is for you to marry E.J. Wells.

Stefano: So, Bo Brady is going to kill a defenseless man in cold blood. I suppose it's possible.

Bo: It's interesting you'd use the word "defenseless," not "innocent."

Stefano: I tell you what -- I am going to help you here. Here. Do what you must.

Bo: Who did you order to kill John? I need a name. [Door opens]

Roman: Probably ought to put that thing away, little brother, before somebody gets hurt.

Nick: Where's Maggie?

Jeremy: Probably arranging an intervention.

Nick: Slow down.

Jeremy: Give me that.

Nick: It's -- it's mine.

Jeremy: I can just hear her now, calling Great Gran to swoop down and save my soul.

Jeremy: So, who else did you tell, Nick?

Nick: Nobody.

Jeremy: I thought we were friends.

Nick: We are.

Jeremy: Don't worry. I'm out of your way.

Nick: Maggie is right. You should just talk to the cops, Jeremy.

Jeremy: Forget it.

Nick: That's a great life you're choosing. You can't go out when you want. You can't show your face anywhere. You can't even use your own license. Are you just gonna get a new one?

Jeremy: I'm wanted for smuggling illegal aliens, Nick. You think I'm worried about driving without a license?

Nick: I'm trying to help you.

Jeremy: I know you are, Nick, and I really appreciate it.

Nick: Did you hear a word that I said?

Jeremy: Look, you think you could spare a few bucks?

Nick: Yeah. Just take all of it. Make sure you use the fire stairs.

Artemis: Where are you going, Uncle Jeremy?

Billie: So, while she was at the bar, somebody slipped something into her drink.

Jett: And then he took her outside and tried to rape her.

Billie: I am posting extra security cameras all over campus.

Jett: So be smart. Walk around in pairs, okay? Be careful.

Billie: Have Chelsea call me, Steph.

Stephanie: I will. Thanks, guys.

Billie: Okay.

Morgan: Wow. Nothing like this has ever happened on the row before.

Stephanie: I really hope they catch that guy soon.

Morgan: Yeah, me too.

Stephanie: Well, listen, thank you for the Chai tea. I really should get going now.

Morgan: Hey, so, how are we on this Max thing?

Stephanie: We're fine. Whatever you two do is your business.

Morgan: Thanks, Steph. And thanks for bringing him into my life. I really owe you.

Marlena: Easy, John. Easy. Breathe. In through your nose, out through your mouth.

Kayla: It'll help with the pain. I wish I could do more.

John: This isn't breathing.

Marlena: Just breathe. Just breathe. Don't talk. Don't talk.

John: I want to talk. I got some things to say.

Hope: John, just this once, you don't have to be strong. You'll always be a part of who we are.

Belle: You promised Claire a trip to the park.

John: Yeah, I'm there.

Belle: Good, 'cause she's not gonna let you off the hook.

Hope: And don't you dare forget about Ciara, because she'll be definitely tagging along.

John: That sounds good.

Belle: Breathe slowly, Dad.

Kayla: I don't know how you put up with all us Brady’s all these years. We're all just a bunch of hotheads. We're loud, always up in everybody's business.

Hope: Oh, definitely. You see, John, you're the cool one. And we need you.

John: I'm not -- I'm not going anywhere.

Kayla: [Speaking indistinctly] It's okay. It's okay. [Hushing] It's okay.

Steve: Hey. How you holding up?

Marlena: He's dying.

Steve: Tell me what to do.

Marlena: There's nothing you can do. I know everybody means well. John is never going to leave his family. He knows it's close. And no matter how much pain he's in, he's going to keep on fighting. He'll keep fighting until... until I tell him it's okay to let go.

Steve: Listen, why don't we just take a little walk, get out of here for a few minutes?

Marlena: I can't leave him like this. There's one more thing I need to do for him.

Steve: Okay. Okay. All right.

Roman: When did you get so handy with a needle?

Bo: Just having a little chat with my favorite sociopath.

Stefano: Your brother's gone mad.

Roman: Fill me in, Bo. What's the plan?

Stefano: The plan is stop him.

Roman: Are you sure you want to do this?

Bo: Yeah. I'm sure. You've got one more chance. Tell me who ran John down.

Stefano: I hear your daughter Chelsea is real hell on wheels.

Bo: You son of a -- how's that, huh?

Roman: Bo! Bo, that's enough!

Bo: Get off of me. He ordered the hit. We both know it.

Roman: This is not the way!

E.J.: Are you okay? What's going on?

Stefano: This maniac stuck me with a needle. They are so pathetic.

Bo: He doesn't need a doctor. He'll live. It was only saline.

E.J.: And the pair of you, get out!

Bo: If I don't get some answers, next time, you won't be so lucky.

Stefano: Crazy bastard.

E.J.: You okay?

Stefano: Oh, I'm fine. I'm fine. Oh, God.

Kate: Lucas is never gonna let you go. It doesn't matter who you marry, where you live, what E.J. does or doesn't do to you.

Sami: I never imagined hearing you say that.

Kate: Well, whatever happens, at least you know that you kept your family safe.

Lucas: Hey.

Sami: Well --

Lucas: You okay?

Sami: Yeah, yeah, I'm fine.

Lucas: No, you're not. What'd you say to her?

Sami: No, nothing. We weren't fighting, actually.

Lucas: I thought I told you to leave my wife alone, Mom.

Kate: Yes. Yes, darling. I know. Good luck, Sami. I mean that.

Sami: Thanks.

Lucas: Good luck with what?

Sami: With marrying E.J.

Officer: Detective Brady.

Bo: Hey, Mark. What you got?

Officer: We found this at the accident scene.

Bo: Pieces of a head lamp. Find me a magnifying glass. Check the hospital lab, wherever. Just find one.

Officer: Got it. Anything else?

Bo: No, no, no. Good work. This could be the break we need. Go.

Jeremy: I don't want to leave, guys. I have to.

Demarquette: Why?

Jeremy: It's kind of complicated.

Artemis: For work?

Jeremy: Yeah, sort of.

Nick: It's late, guys. Say goodbye and go to bed.

Artemis: When will you be back?

Jeremy: I don't know. I don't know. But, hey, what's our rule, huh?

Artemis: Smile.

Demarquette: Chicks love it.

Jeremy: All right, then. Come on. Flash 'em. [Laughs] Perfect. All right, you guys listen to Nick, all right? He's a smart dude, okay? And what do we say? I can't hear you. What do we say?

All: Go, bears! [Laughs] Oh. I'm gonna miss you little rug rats. Hey, don't do anything I wouldn't do and don't do most of the stuff I would.

Nick: He means that. Hit the sheets. Go on. They'd make great character witnesses for you if you decide to stick around.

Jeremy: I can’t. Take some advice from me for a change. Don't give up on Chelsea. She knows a good thing when she sees it.

Nick: [Exhales sharply] I can't believe I'm saying this, but...I'm gonna miss having you around.

Jeremy: Nick the geek. You're all right, man. [Door closes]

Morgan: You know, I'm sure Danny wouldn't mind walking you to your car.

Stephanie: Danny's busy. Besides, I'm parked right out front.

Morgan: Well, be careful, okay?

Stephanie: I will.

Morgan: And, hey, I was gonna wait 'cause we usually have a big meeting about this kind of stuff, but a couple of girls graduated in the Spring, and there's room here at the house if you and Chelsea want to move in.

Hope: What's that?

Bo: Pieces of a head lamp shield found at the site.

Officer: Here you go, Detective.

Bo: Hey, thanks, man.

Hope: Hoping for a serial number?

Bo: This is why I married you.

Hope: If we could trace the car --

Bo: To a manufacturer or dealership --

Hope: Or rental agency.

Bo: Yeah. I promised John I'd find who did this to him. This is a promise I'm gonna keep.

Steve: You want us to go?

Marlena: No. I want him surrounded by people that love him.

Kayla: You don't have to do this now.

Steve: Think about it.

Marlena: He's in pain. He's in terrible pain. It's time. Hey, handsome. It's time for us to talk.

Morgan: Be careful.

Stephanie: I will. I can't wait to tell Chelse about moving in. Thanks.

Morgan: Bye.

[Leaves rustle]

Stephanie: Who's there?

E.J.: You okay? Those Brady’s, eh? They deserve what they get.

Stefano: For sure. What's the news on John?

E.J.: Hours, minutes.

Stefano: It may be time for me to leave Salem.

E.J.: You're not gonna go before I get married?

Stefano: Like I told you, I want to go to Italy for a little peace and quiet.

E.J.: Father, come on. I can't imagine you not being at my wedding.

Stefano: Well, one way or the other, you know, it may just have to be that way.

E.J.: Well, not necessarily.

Stefano: What is it?

E.J.: Samantha and I can get married sooner than expected. I mean, annulment or not, we can move up the divorce. We can get married right away. Why would we want to put off the inevitable? Yeah? [Laughs]

John: [Breathing heavily]

Marlena: Easy. Easy.

John: Still the best view in town.

Marlena: It's my turn to talk. I need you to do me a very big favor. John -- John... I need you to close your eyes and rest.

John: No. No. I can rest later.

Marlena: You're just afraid you're going to miss something.

John: Yeah. I'm gonna miss you.

Marlena: No. You're not. You are never, ever going to leave me. I'm never, ever going to leave you. This is not the end. We don't have an end. John, don't worry about me. Belle, the family, we'll be okay. We'll be strong. You've taught us how to be strong.

John: I love you.

Marlena: I love you. I love you. You are -- you are...the great, great love of my life. Now, rest. Please rest, for me. Okay. And when it's time for me to see you again... there you'll be. You'll have your arms flung wide open, waiting. I'll be there. You'll be taking care of me again. Sleep. I'll see you in forever. [Flatlining]

Belle: Daddy?

Sami: Lucas, you sign it. You hear me? You sign it. Sign the papers, please. Please. Please. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. [Sobbing]

Hope: Oh, my gosh. Who did all this?

Sami: There is only one way to end the violence, and we both know what that is.

Marlena: John?
