Shawn D.: Thank you, Libby.

Libby: Another little piece of advice -- one beer is fine, but don't drink too much. Alcohol won't help those male swimming things hook up with your wife, Mimi's, eggs.

Shawn D.: Well, okay. I didn't know that, either, but thank you for that little piece of advice, and thank you for sharing your story with us before.

Libby: I hope you two get as lucky as I was. Adoption's great -- it's beautiful. But giving birth to your own -- if you can make it happen, it's an experience you'll always treasure.

Shawn D.: We're hoping.

Belle: Hey. What are you doing here?

Shawn D.: Hey. Um, drinking a beer. Mimi crashed. I think it must be the air up here or something.

Belle: Yeah, Philip crashed, too, after the movie we were watching, but he got up early with Claire with morning. He's so sweet. He really can't wait to see her every day.

Libby: Hi. What'll you have?

Belle: Uh, club soda with lemon, please.

Shawn D.: Boring.

Belle: Well, I can't sleep, either. Too restless, I guess.

Shawn D.: Yeah, well, I can relate. I am very excited after what Libby was telling us about the in vitro fertilization. I am so psyched to try that, and so is Mimi.

Belle: Thanks. Hey, um...

Shawn D.: What's wrong?

Belle: I'm coming apart here.

Carrie: [Exhales sharply] This has been one of the strangest nights of my life.

Austin: It hasn't been all that bad. Being handcuffed to you isn't exactly torture.

Carrie: I feel so guilty about --

Austin: Kissing me?

Carrie: I'm engaged to your brother.

Austin: This whole thing is innocent. We all came to dune to have a good time. We got handcuffed together for a dance contest. The place got raided for drugs. We're not doing any drugs, but to get our picture in the paper handcuffed to each other -- that's the thing that people remember. It wouldn't be good business for my new company, and I don't think Victor would appreciate the bad publicity, either.

Carrie: Is business always the first thing on your mind, Austin?

Austin: That is not fair. You know how much I love you, and I am doing my best to support this decision you have to marry my brother. I can't pretend I understand it. I don’t.

Carrie: There has to be a way to get these handcuffs off.

Austin: Don't do that. Don't try to change the subject. I'm talking about us. You still love me, but instead you decided to marry my brother, and I think it's time that you told me why.

Lucas: You know, the only way I can explain how you're acting with Lexie right now...

Sami: Why do you have to be so suspicious of me? Lexie and I hate each other, and we always have. There is nothing weird about the way that I am behaving.

Lucas: Oh, yeah? Am I suspicious of you, Sami? Yes, I'm suspicious. Too many lies and deceptions in the past. I'd be an idiot not to be suspicious of you.

Sami: And that is exactly why we aren't together right now -- because you couldn't help but be suspicious. You couldn't trust me when it mattered the most. And yet you've managed to forgive your mom, and she is the reason that we aren't together.

Lucas: Yeah, my mom made a big mistake coming between us the way she did, but she didn't force you to wear that Stan costume, did she? No, you did that on your own. You got to accept responsibilities for your actions, Sami. And what do you do? The second our marriage didn't work out, you run into my brother's arms.

Sami: Wait a second. Austin wanted to be my friend when you wouldn't be. You wanted to lock me up and throw away the key. Austin was willing to listen to my side of the story.

Lucas: Austin was willing to listen to you? I don't want to hear how my heroic brother won your heart again -- overnight. I don't want to hear that. That's history repeating itself.

Sami: Oh, come on! It is gonna be different this time. It is gonna end differently this time because you -- you're engaged to Carrie, and I'm gonna be engaged to Austin before long. We are both gonna get what we want this time.

Lucas: Well, what's going on between you and Lexie? I know there's something there. She's got something on you? You got something on her? What? She hates you. It's a matter of time before she's gonna expose you for your latest scheme.

Sami: No. She's not gonna say a word. I have it covered.

Lucas: I guarantee if you do anything at all to come between me and Carrie -- if you ruin my future with her, you're gonna be sorry.

Sami: If Carrie wants to be with you, that's her problem. I'm not gonna do anything to mess that up.

Lucas: You're not, huh? Could have fooled me. Maybe I'm not reading this right. Maybe there's a loophole. Maybe there's something I don't know.

Sami: If I want to be with Austin, then you have to be with Carrie. And if that's what you want more than anything in the world, then just stay out of my way, Lucas.

Kate: So, can I get you some more coffee?

John: No, thanks. Not right now.

Kate: Are your ISA contacts having any luck finding anything?

John: Not so far. North jammed his jet signals. The g.p.s. I set up to track his plane was useless. He could have taken Doc anywhere -- anywhere in the world by now.

Marlena: [Gasps] Oh, my goodness. I don't think I've ever been in a place quite so breathtaking.

Alex: Nothing is too good for my beautiful bride.

Marlena: I'm sorry I gave you such a hard time about leaving Salem. But I think a week or two in this incredible luxury, I'll be ready to go back to my family and friends -- all renewed and rested. Thanks so much for bringing me here!

Alex: Shall we?

Marlena: Oh! Yeah.

Alex: [Thinking] My plans for you don't include going back home to Salem -- not in week, not in two weeks, not ever.

Patrick: Hope...

Hope: Don't stop, Patrick.

Patrick: I have to. I can't fall in love with you. You're a married woman.

Hope: I'm about to be divorced.

Patrick: Believe me, I wish I didn't care, but I'm trying to be a better person. You belong with Bo. You should go back to your marriage.

Hope: What marriage? Bo has a new family now -- Billie and Chelsea. He slept with Billie. He broke our marriage vows. He didn't even fight me when I asked for a divorce.. Now, does that sound like a man who still wants to be my husband?

Patrick: I don't know.

Hope: I do. Patrick, it's over. It's time for me to move on with my life, and I'd like to do that with you. I want you. I want you so much, Patrick. Please.

Alex: This magical city is only the first of many surprises I have in store for you.

Alex: Happy honeymoon, Mrs. North.

Marlena: Oh. Alex... oh, my goodness. [Exhales sharply]

Alex: Does, uh, this remind you of anything, Marlena?

Marlena: Yes. It reminds me how much I love you... and how you'll always take care of me... and how I belong to you. Thank you, my darling. Mmm. I hate to seem shallow, but I do want to see how it looks on me now.

Alex: Well, run along. Excellent. Now I won't have to drug her nearly as often to keep her under my control. [Chuckles]

John: Nothing. Nothing. The crazy bastard has just disappeared with Marlena, and I may never know where.

Kate: Don't take it out on your computer.

John: Listen, if Alex -- if I don't find Alex North, he's gonna kill Doc.. He told me so himself.

Alex: What I am going to do to your beloved, precious Doc is to cause her more pain and misery than she has ever suffered -- more than anyone -- even you, John -- can imagine.

Kate: Hey. Hey. You know, there is another possibility.

John: [Scoffs]

Kate: No, especially given the fact that he hates you so much. Maybe he was taunting you when he said that. Maybe he doesn't want to hurt Marlena. Maybe the person he really wants to hurt is you. What better way to do that than to get you to break the law. And you'll end up in jail, or better yet, in his mind, dead.

John: Hmm. Interesting theory. I'm not buying it... because I know how a man acts when he really loves a woman. Alex doesn't love Marlena. He wants to control her, ultimately kill her for some sick reason I haven't been able to figure out yet.

Kate: No, but you will, because you always do. And you'll figure out what Alex is up to, and you'll get Marlena back, and the two of you will live happily ever after. In fact, I have it on good authority that she is coming back to town -- very soon.

Lucas: Why do I need you to hold on to Carrie? I won. She chose me. We're engaged. We're gonna be pronounced husband and wife.

Sami: Yeah, I wish I knew what that part of the ceremony feels like. I can't believe I've been almost married so many times.

Lucas: It seems to be a pattern with you. Maybe if you stopped making the same mistakes, although I don't see how Austin's ever gonna give you another chance.

Sami: Lucas, it must be hard being so perfect all the time. Do you have any more words of wisdom for me?

Lucas: No, Sami, that's it. I think I'm good.

Sami: Yeah, well, thanks for nothing.

Lucas: Look, this may be a tough concept for you to absorb, but Carrie and I are in love. We're gonna be married. She's everything I've ever wanted. She doesn't fight with me, she doesn't lie to me, and she doesn't keep secrets. That's how I know I'm with the right person -- the woman I'm meant to be with.

Sami: I'm really happy for you, Lucas.

Lucas: But you didn't throw me off track. I still want to know what's going on between you and Lexie.

Sami: Oh, my God! Would you forget about Lexie, okay? I can handle her.

Lexie: You're blackmailing me.

Sami: And you are cheating on Abe, so you can get off your high horse. All you have to do is make sure Carrie doesn't choose Austin. Otherwise, you can say goodbye to your happy life with Abe and Theo.

Sami: I'm gonna see if the cops are still here. No. No, they're gone. Let's go find Austin and Carrie.

Austin: I just don't get it. I just don't get it. We were becoming so close -- moving towards something more permanent -- and you do this complete 180 and say you're gonna marry Lucas. Start a family with him? I know you were devastated over the takeover, but I also know what a kind and forgiving person you are, and you know that I did not know it was you and that I would never do anything to hurt you. So, is that it? Is it the takeover?

Carrie: No.

Austin: Then it's Sami -- something she said, something she did. It has to be.

Carrie: It's got nothing to do with Sami. I really think that she's changed this time. After all the loss she's gone through, it's made her rethink the way she's lived her life up until now. Anyway, this isn't the way that Sami wanted things to work out. We both know that if she could have her heart's desire, she would be with Lucas.

Austin: We all know that Sami belongs with Lucas. You tell me if I'm wrong... but if you could have your heart's desire...you would be with me, wouldn't you?

Belle: [Clears throat] Listen, I was so out of line with what I said earlier about you wanting a biological child, like you, of all people, wouldn't love an adopted child just as much. Of course you would. I am so sorry.

Shawn D.: I know you are. Don't worry about it. It's okay. As it turns out, you did us a favor 'cause you were right about one thing -- Mimi would love the opportunity to be pregnant again, especially after what happened last time, and now there might be a way for her to do that.

Belle: See? That's great.

Shawn D.: Yeah. I guess I won't have to run off with Claire every time I see her now. How many times have I told you how much that girl means to me? I guess it's just because of Zack being a part of her, but... Claire is the reason I want to be a father so bad.

Belle: I know. And I know why. We find the hours going by just staring. You just stare at it. We just sit around like this.

[Birds chirping, waves crashing]

Patrick: Hey, are you okay? Oh, God, this was a mistake.

Hope: No, no. I just have so many feelings inside me all at once... but I'm not sorry that we got this close.

Patrick: [Sighs] I wish I could take all your sadness away.

Hope: You can’t. The sadness about my marriage, my son -- it's part of me. It always will be. It doesn't mean I can't have other feelings, as well.

Patrick: Yeah. I know what you mean.

Hope: That's why we're so good for each other -- 'cause you do know, you understand. And that's why I am so grateful.

Patrick: You are?

Hope: Do I need to show you again to make you believe it?

Patrick: I think you do.

Kate: Look, I guess I should have told you before, but I ran into Marlena the other day, and she is definitely coming back to Salem very soon.

Marlena: Alex is insisting on a lavish honeymoon.

Kate: A lot of women dream of something like that.

Marlena: I know. They do. That's right. You know, somehow I feel so connected to the people here. I don't have all the memories that you-all have of my life, but I feel attached to the people and the city. So I'm very sure that once the honeymoon is over, we'll be coming right back here.

Kate: Does Alex want to come back?

Marlena: Alex wants me to be happy. He adores me. So we'll be coming back here as soon as possible. And until then...

Kate: Yes. Until then -- until then, take care of yourself.

Marlena: With Alex by my side, I'll be just fine. Thanks, Kate.

Kate: Oh, yes. She definitely wants to come back to Salem.

John: Well, maybe she doesn't realize that it's not her decision. And she does have something to worry about, namely her husband. Because if it's up to Alex, she'll never come back to Salem alive.

[Cellphone ringing]

Alex: Oh. I hope this means that you've found a buyer for the penthouse.

Realtor: I have a few hot prospects for the apartment itself. Other buyers are very interested in the furnishings, especially the antiques.

Alex: I told you I wanted it sold as a package and the proceeds wired to my offshore account. Now, how difficult can this be? It's a duplex penthouse apartment with terrace, all the furnishings, rare antiques. Listen, if your prospective-buyer list isn't that large, I can certainly find another agent.

Realtor: No, no. I'll find the perfect buyer.

Alex: I think I've just come up with the ideal person -- someone who would be very desperate to have this particular penthouse.

[Cellphone ringing]

John: John Black.

Realtor: Hello, Mr. Black. I'm representing the real-estate property of Dr. Marlena Evans.

John: Excuse me? What's all this about?

Realtor: Alex North wanted me to give you the first opportunity to purchase Dr. Evans' penthouse and all of its furnishings.

Austin: See, you haven't answered me because you can't tell me it's not true. You love me as much as I love you. Tell me what I can do so we can be together.

Lexie: If you have a child together, there's a high probability that he or she might have a genetic syndrome causing severe birth defects that could even be life-threatening.

Carrie: There's nothing either of us can do. We just have to let it go.

Austin: Why? Why? You are not the kind of woman that gives a guy a runaround. Tell me the truth. Tell me the truth.

Carrie: [Sighs] I don't want to hurt Lucas.

Austin: Why would it hurt Lucas? You know, maybe together we could find a way to work through whatever the problem is. There is something else. I knew it. Tell me. I love you so much. We can be together.

Lucas: Carrie! Carrie and Austin, are you in there?

Austin: Don't answer. We're not done talking. Tell me.

Sami: I thought I heard something.

Lucas: Who's in there?

Carrie: Oh.

Sami: Oh!

Carrie: Oh.

Lucas: Hey. Listen, the coast is clear. We're out of the woods. The cops are gone. Everything's fine now.

Sami: It's awfully cozy in here. How'd you two pass the time?

Carrie: We talked. What did you do?

Sami: [Exhales sharply] [Clears throat]

Lucas: Uh, we, uh, we tried not to kill each other. But everything's fine now. You're probably sick of these handcuffs. Let's get these off. We'll get you home. Come on.

Sami: Austin and I probably want to get home, too, right? Let's go.

Lucas: Come on.

Carrie: Austin, what are you doing? We need to find the key. My wrist is hurting.

Austin: Fine. But we are not done talking. To be continued.

Belle: I don't think that too many teenagers in love were quite like we were. I mean, I don't think most kids even want to think about being parents, but it seemed to be all we could ever talk about, remember?

Shawn D.: Well, not --

Belle: Oh, come on.

Shawn D.: Yes, I remember. It was probably 'cause J.T. and Zack were in my life. It's just weird they're not anymore.

Belle: They're still in your life. Shawn, you're gonna be a great dad, and that's what I was talking about, with your connection to Claire. Ever since we were kids, you've wanted to be a dad.

Shawn D.: And Mimi can't wait to be a mom. And I love her, whether she can get pregnant or if we have to adopt or if we have to do both. It would be great.

Belle: Mimi is a very lucky woman. It seems you're a very good husband. I was a fool to let you get away.

John: Let me make sure that I understand you. Alex North wants me to put in a bid?

Realtor: That's right. He thought you would be extremely interested in buying Marlena Evans' penthouse and all of its contents. Think about it, Mr. Black. I'll be in touch.

Kate: Who was that?

John: It's a real-estate agent.

Kate: Alex wants you to buy an apartment?

John: Not just an apartment. The penthouse.

Kate: What?

John: It's like I told you all along -- Alex North has no intention of ever bringing Marlena back to Salem. Getting that real-estate agent to call me was Alex's way of saying I'm never gonna see her again. That is, unless I find Alex North and I stop him before he kills her..

Alex: This is all so perfect. [Chuckles] I end up the winner with John's money and his beloved Doc. He winds up with nothing but mementos of his life with her and cursing me till his dying days. [Chuckles]

Marlena: Alex, you've gone entirely too far.

Patrick: You look happy.

Hope: I am -- for the first time in a very long time.

Patrick: You don't regret what we did?

Hope: Do I look like I regret it? I feel so free right now, Patrick. It's wonderful to be away from everything and everyone that I am familiar with. Oh, my God. I don't believe it.

Belle: Well, you know, I am so happy for you. I really am.

Shawn D.: Yeah, I know. I know you are, and that means a lot.

Belle: Man, you and Mimi with a baby. There's gonna be a lot of laughing at your house.

Shawn D.: Or a lot of crying -- from me, every time I have to change its diaper.

Belle: Well, one thing's for sure -- I know that when I see you two with a baby, your marriage is definitely gonna be real to me. I mean, not that it's not real already.

Shawn D.: It's new.

Belle: Yeah. Yeah. I'm not quite used to it yet. I mean, you've had time to get used to Philip and me having Claire, and that's what wedding vows are all about, right? Making a commitment to start a new family. I mean, you have no idea what it's gonna do to a relationship to have a child that you share, whether it's biologically or by choice -- you know, same thing.

Shawn D.: Well, I'm really excited for it.

Belle: Yeah, family. Yeah. That's why Philip and I are having another child.

Shawn D.: You know, if this in vitro thing works out, we could be having our baby at the same time you have yours. They could be going to school together. They could be best friends, just like you and Mimi.

Belle: We could go shopping together -- definitely. Hey.

Shawn D.: What?

Belle: Thanks for still being my friend.

Lucas: Jada? Jada, excuse me. Could you please unhandcuff my fiancé and my brother? I would appreciate it.

Jada: No problem. Detective Kramer left me the keys.

Carrie: Oh, good.

Lucas: Always thinking -- that detective.

Jada: Well, look on the bright side. Since you are the last couple, you win the dance contest. Ka-ching! Part of the money goes to your favorite charity, so what'll it be?

Austin: I'll leave that up to you, Carrie.

Jada: You don't have to decide now. Call me later.

Carrie: No, I know where I want the money to go -- a charity that helps children born with birth defects.

Jada: Hey, that's really nice. FYI -- the cops didn't find any drugs, which I could have told them. But you know cops -- they can't wait to get their guns out and start harassing the people. Sorry you got caught up in all that. If I ever find out who called in that phony tip...

Carrie: Watch out.

Sami: Yeah, I'm at dune -- the nightclub -- and I need you to come right away.

Austin: Our talk's not over yet. I'm still waiting for my answer.

Lucas: I'm sorry that you were stuck in those handcuffs for so long. Are you all right? Can I get you anything -- something to drink, something to eat?

Carrie: I would love some water.

Lucas: All right. I'll get it, and then we'll go home, okay?

Carrie: Okay.

Lucas: All right.

Sami: Hey, hey. Kiss her later. Get going. We want to get out of here.

Lucas: Thanks.

Carrie: Austin --

Austin: Meet me in the morning.

Carrie: That is not a good idea.

Austin: Before Lucas and Sami barged in, you were gonna tell me why you were gonna marry him instead of me, and it's not because you love him more than me. We belong together. So please help me to understand this. And once you tell me, then we can figure out how to make things right.

Belle: I want you to be happy. You know that, don't you?

Shawn D.: Yeah. Yeah. And I'm glad you are happy with Philip. He's a good guy.

Belle: Yeah, I know.

Shawn D.: Well, I forgot that for a while. But I see his face when he's looking at you and when he's holding Claire, and I know things worked out the way they were supposed to.

Belle: And the same for you and Mimi, you know? Who would have thought that, that high school crush she had on you would turn out to be the real deal?

Shawn D.: Yeah. Yeah. She is wonderful. I'm a lucky guy.

Belle: I'd say we're both pretty lucky.

Shawn D.: That things worked the way they should?

Belle: Yeah. Things definitely worked out the way they should.

Marlena: The hotel concierge tells me you have booked a entire day for me at the spa.

Alex: Do you object to that, Mrs. North?

Marlena: Are you kidding me? I plan to enjoy every moment of it because this is my honeymoon.

Alex: And I promise you this is a honeymoon you will not forget.

Hope: [Exhales sharply] My gosh.

Patrick: I figured since we didn't get to dessert, I would do something special.

Hope: I love sweets, especially chocolate. It's my absolute favorite. Thank you. [Exhales deeply] I can't believe this is me having fun.

Patrick: [Blows] Get ready... for heaven in a spoon.

Hope: Mmm. Mmm. That -- that is delicious.

Patrick: Yeah. You have a little something right here.

Alex: You, uh, feel like trying your luck?

Marlena: Oh, I don't -- yes, I do. I feel lucky tonight.

Alex: Shall we? [Thinking] Enjoy it while you can, Marlena. Your luck's about to run out.

John: Damn it. He's got no intention of ever bringing her back to Salem.

Kate: I'm sorry. I had no idea it was this bad.

John: Oh, it's bad. He's gonna kill her, Kate. She'll be lost to me, her kids, and everyone in Salem forever.

Lucas: It has to be perfect -- as perfect as my life with Carrie.

Kate: Are you really sure it's going to be?

Carrie: I'm driving myself crazy. It isn't fair to Lucas or to Austin.

Austin: It's about our relationship.

Sami: The tone of your voice makes it sound like we don't have one.

Mimi: I can't help but wonder if you wish it were you having Shawn's baby instead.
