Austin: A song on uh, yeah. Look, I need to talk to you about this later.. Yeah, yeah. Thank you. Bye. I'm really glad that you stayed. I'm sorry. I had to take that call.

Carrie: Yes, of course you did. Business has to come first, right?

Austin: Carrie, if there was any way I could undo this, I would. You have to know that I never would have gone ahead with this in the first place if I had any idea...

Carrie: I should be going. I have to get back to Los Angeles and face my former employees.

Austin: Wait. Hold on a second. It does not have to be this way. I know you're devastated about your company, but do you have to throw away our whole future after everything that we have been through -- all the good times and the bad? I mean, there has got to be some way to get past this -- some way you can forgive me. Can you?

Carrie: That phone call just now -- did that have anything to do with the takeover of Highstyle? Or when Nicole ran out of here a second ago, was she just putting the finishing touches on the destruction of —- I mean, your company?

Austin: No. The call was about equipment for our new offices, and Nicole had to meet with potential investors -- meetings that were set up weeks ago.

Carrie: Oh, you were that sure back then about looting me?

Austin: There was another company we were interested in.

Carrie: Oh, yeah, right -- the one that got away.

Austin: All our loans were contingent on that acquisition. We were pretty desperate. To tell you the truth, without Highstyle, my company would be bankrupt right now.

Carrie: That makes me feel a lot better.

Austin: That is not what I'm saying. Will you listen to me? Will you just listen to me for a second, please? What I'm saying is that under any other circumstances, I would have taken more time, been more careful. You have to know that I -- look at me. You -- believe me when I say that I did not know that you were the C.E.O. I don't know how many more times I can say it. I never would have gone after your company if I knew it was yours. Forgive me..

***********************************************************

[Knock on door]

Sami: Um... the door, Austin. Lucas, I -- Lucas, what is it? Oh, my God. Is it Will?

Lucas: No, no, no, no. Will's fine. I'm sorry to interrupt, but, uh, I have some horrible news.

Austin: What happened?

Lucas: [Exhales deeply] Bo and Hope's son Zack was -- was killed in a hit-and-run.

Carrie: Oh, my --

Lucas: Billie confessed to doing it.

Austin: What?

***********************************************************

Max: Are you okay?

Chelsea: Of course I'm not okay!

Max: You look sick.

Chelsea: I feel sick.

Max: I don't know if you want to hear this or not, but your guilt is eating away at you. You can't just think you're gonna get off scot-free because your mom is gonna take the blame for Zack's death. Lying's stressing you out more than telling the truth would.

Chelsea: No, you're the one who's stressing me out. I'm gonna have to live with what I did for the rest of my life, Max. Don't you think that's punishment enough?

Max: You're losing your mother this way.

Chelsea: I would be losing her if I went to prison for the rest of my life, too, wouldn't I? Besides, nothing is even gonna happen to Billie. She has a spotless record. She'll probably just get a fine, and then her license will be suspended -- that's it. That's why you have to promise you're not gonna say anything.

Max: I did promise.

Chelsea: And that's why you didn't tell Patrick when he came back here, too, right?

Max: [Exhales sharply]

Chelsea: You didn't tell him, Max, did you? Oh, my God. Where is he? Where's Patrick?

Patrick: I'm behind you. What are you doing here?

Chelsea: I told you back at the police station that Max and I had plans for tonight, and I just figured you guys would be done. Are you ready?

Patrick: No, no, he's not. I found something in your records, Max -- maybe the key to setting Billie free and finding out who really did run down Zack and kill him.

***********************************************************

Bo: Billie, I know why you're taking the blame for Chelsea hitting Zack, but it's wrong.

Billie: No, it's right, and it has to be this way.

Bo: No.

Hope: What the hell are you doing?! How can you even look at her, much less talk to her and touch her after what she's done?

Bo: Hope, wait. You don't know what's going on here.

***********************************************************

Like sands through the hourglass, so are the Days of Our Lives.

***********************************************************

Sami: Oh, my God. Zack is -- he's -- he's dead.

Lucas: There's actually more.

Sami: What?

Lucas: After Zack died, Bo and Hope donated his organs. And it turns out he was a match for Claire, so Claire had her liver transplant.

Sami: She did? Is she okay?

Lucas: Yeah, I guess she's okay. She's gonna be fine.

Carrie: So Zack saved Claire's life?

Lucas: Yeah. Yeah, I guess it's, you know, what Philip and Belle were praying for. It's the miracle they wanted, but none of us expected it to happen like this.

Austin: I can't believe it. It's such wonderful news and horrible news at the same time.

Carrie: How -- how did this happen?

Lucas: [Exhales deeply] I don't know. I guess Zack was at a sleep over, and he got out of bed somehow and walked into the street, and no one knows why, and that's when, uh, Billie drove by and hit him.

Austin: You're telling me it was a hit-and-run -- that Billie didn't stop?

Lucas: I don't know. I don't know what happened. I just know that Billie borrowed Bo's car without his permission. None of it makes sense to me.

Austin: It must be a mistake.

Lucas: It's not a mistake. She made a full confession. She's in jail.

Sami: I understand that you're upset about your sister, but can you imagine what Bo and Hope are going through right now? Oh, God. Oh, God, Lucas, if something like that happened to Will, you could just bury me right next to him because, I swear, that has to be the worst nightmare anyone could ever imagine.

Lucas: I know. I know it is.

Carrie: How -- how could we not have known about this?

Lucas: I don't know, Carrie. I think we were just preoccupied with Austin taking over your company. I had to check my machine and return calls to get the news.

Sami: You know what? I'm gonna call Grandma Caroline and see if there's something we can do.

Lucas: I'll go to my apartment and call mom. Austin, if you want to come with me, we can check up on Billie.

***********************************************************

Chelsea: What did you find in Max's records that could help out Billie?

Patrick: Well, there's a record of Max towing in Bo's car, but there's no record of when he got that call or who called him.

Max: Patrick, that's because they called on my cellphone.

Patrick: Well, then, who called you?

Chelsea: Why can't you just let this go?

Patrick: Why would you want me to? You have a mother in prison who might be innocent.

Chelsea: She's not innocent. Billie confessed. Why are you trying to get my hopes up?

Patrick: What's wrong with you, Chelsea? Why wouldn't you want to have hope?

Chelsea: Because... Abby told me how difficult it's been for her mom -- how Jennifer has been living in denial, wanting to believe that Jack is not dead, that he'd come walking through the door at any minute.

Patrick: Look, I'm not trying to give anyone false hope here. I know what Billie said, but there is something very wrong with her story. She wouldn't even hire a lawyer. Now, I believe in her. It would be nice if her own daughter did, too. I mean, you have to know if she hit someone, she would never just leave the scene.

Chelsea: She said she didn't know she hit anybody. And then when she heard about Zack, she confessed. I still don't get what you're thinking, Patrick. Why would she admit to something unless she wasn't guilty?

Patrick: I told you -- I just have to believe that she is covering for somebody -- somebody she loves. But who? You still haven't answered my question, Max. Who called you to tow Bo's car the night Zack was killed?

***********************************************************

Hope: You still believe Billie murdering our son was some kind of accident?

Billie: You can't believe that someone would do something like that on purpose.

Bo: Yes, Hope, it was an accident.

Hope: She left the scene, Brady! She never stopped. She left our son bleeding in the street. If you had stopped -- if you had called 911 right away, Zack might still be alive. I can't believe you left our home to come here and comfort her. Damn you.

Bo: Hope, you got to know the truth.

Billie: He wasn't here to comfort me. He was not here to comfort me. He was just as furious with me as you were. And he wasn't hugging me, if that's what you think you saw. I was begging him to let me explain what happened.

Hope: You know exactly what happened! And you know what? You deserve to be in jail for the rest of your life!

Bo: Come on. You got to calm down.

Hope: How can you say that to me?! How can you be so calm after what this monster's done to our son?!

Billie: Listen -- I know that you're angry at me, and I deserve it.

Hope: I'm sorry. I'm sorry for misunderstanding. I'm sorry for what I said to you.

Bo: No, no. You don't need to apologize to me, and I understand why you're angry with Billie... but it's got to stop.

***********************************************************

Austin: Okay, mom. This is just all so unbelievable. Just tell Billie that Lucas and I are thinking of her.

Lucas: Yeah. Give her our love.

Austin: And give her our love. And let me know when Philip, Belle, and Claire are up for visitors. Okay. Thanks. I love you. Bye.

Lucas: There you go.

Austin: Wow. When something like this happens, it really puts all this business stuff into perspective, doesn't it?

Lucas: Yeah, it does. Although the way you do business, it could cause a lot of pain and suffering, too.

Austin: That's a low blow. That's not fair.

Lucas: It's not fair what you're doing to Carrie. I mean, you claim to love her, and then you just turn around and destroy everything she cares about?

***********************************************************

Sami: Grandma couldn't even talk about it.

Carrie: I never even met Zack. Can you believe that? I never should have stayed away from Salem for so long.

Sami: Yeah, you -- you weren't here when we thought daddy had died or my mom.

Carrie: I know, and I-I really regret that now.

Sami: Carrie, you didn't come back because of me. It's okay. You can say it.

Carrie: [Exhales deeply] Look, Sami, this is so not about us, okay?

Sami: [Scoffs]

Carrie: You know, the first time that I met Claire, she was already so sick. At least -- at least now, we might have the chance to all watch her grow up.

Sami: Except that you live in L.A.

Carrie: Well, if my family needs me...

Sami: Grandma said that Bo and Hope don't want to talk to anyone right now and that we could leave a message or send flowers or something. But, I mean, what -- what do you do? Nothing -- nothing that you could say is gonna make them feel even slightly better. It's the worst thing that could ever happen.

Carrie: I know.

Sami: Why does it always seem like for something good to happen, something really bad has to happen, too? Like for little Claire to get her liver transplant, Zack had to die, and -- and you had to lose your company so that Austin's could succeed.

Carrie: You can't compare that to what Bo and Hope are going through.

Sami: I'm not. I'm just saying that -- Carrie, you've lost a lot, too, today, and it's not just your company. You've lost your -- your -- your future with Austin and your hopes and dreams for that. Are you really through with him?

Carrie: I really believe that he didn't know it was my company. But even so, it's the whole way he went about it. I can't believe that Austin could be that cruel. Maybe I don't know him as well as I thought I did.

Sami: Carrie, I'm sorry. I really -- I didn't want to do this takeover. I-I thought it was pretty ruthless, especially given that it was the holiday season, but, um, Austin didn't know that it was your company. You have to know that. And [Exhales deeply] He wasn't trying to be cruel. He -- he was just... selfish, but it's not the right word. He -- he was focused on his own company, and he didn't think about how it was gonna hurt other people.

Carrie: But how hard could it have been to find out that I was the C.E.O..?

Sami: I don't know. I just know that I didn't want to do this takeover right from the beginning. And if I had known it was your company, I would have tried even harder to talk him out of it.

***********************************************************

Chelsea: It had to have been Billie that called Max to come and tow Bo's car. I mean, who else could it have been?

Patrick: Was Billie at the car when you showed up?

Max: No, she wasn't there.

Patrick: And didn't you think that was a little odd?

Chelsea: Why would he, Patrick? It was his brother's car. It was Bo's car. And when he got the call, he didn't know that it was involved in Zack's death.

Patrick: Chelsea, I'm not asking you. I'm asking Max.

Max: No, of course I didn't know that. I just brought in the car, Patrick.

Patrick: And that's it, huh? Nothing else you can tell me?

Max: No. I'm sorry.

Patrick: Well, something's not right here. I'm going down to the police station to talk to the cops that Billie confessed to, to see if I can get some more information. I'll check back with you two later.

***********************************************************

Chelsea: You don't think that he suspects it was me, do you? I mean, who else would Billie be protecting?

Max: You know, Abby and I actually discussed this, and we think that the truth is staring Patrick right in the face. But he just can't come to believe that a daughter would let her mother go to jail for a crime she didn't commit. And to tell you the truth, I can't believe it, either.

Chelsea: It's what Billie wanted.

Max: How can you live with that, though, Chelsea?

Chelsea: I already have to live with the fact that both of my parents are dead, and now I'm responsible for killing my own baby brother because I make bad choices. And because of me, Zack's never gonna get to grow up. And no matter what I do, I can't take it back. I've ruined so many people's lives. [Exhales sharply] I'm a horrible person.

Max: You know that's not true, Chelsea.

Chelsea: Whatever. You know what? I don't even want to talk about this or think about it anymore. I just -- I'm hungry. Let's go get a burger at Buddy's or something.

Max: Are you kidding me?

Chelsea: But we did have a date tonight, but if you don't want to see me anymore, just say so.

Max: A date, Chelsea? You can't just turn around and go back to your normal life.

Chelsea: Oh, you don't think I know that?

Max: No. Never, okay? Even if you do get off scot-free, you're still gonna have to live with what you did forever.

Chelsea: Thank you. I know.

Max: Don't make things worse than they already are. You're taking advantage of your mother's love for you and your father's. You are letting Bo keep the truth from his wife because he loves you and he feels guilty. He's a cop, and he is concealing evidence. He is lying to his wife. And Bo is my brother. Zack was my nephew.

Chelsea: Not by blood.

Max: You were adopted, too. You know just as well as I do that, that doesn't make any difference whatsoever. Family is family, and you killed Zack. Zack is dead because of you. And there are a lot of people that are suffering, especially Hope. She just lost her child. And I'm wondering what's gonna happen to their marriage when the truth finally comes out, and you know it will. You can count on that.

Chelsea: It won’t. It won't as long as you and Abby and everybody else who knows the truth just keeps their mouth shut.

Max: You know, that's another thing -- for those of us who do know the truth, we are obstructing justice, we are concealing evidence, and we are breaking the law. We can all go to jail. How fun would that be? Can you really do this? Can you really let this happen? Because if you can, you're not the girl that I thought you were.

[Departing footsteps]

***********************************************************

Bo: Hope, this has got to stop.

Billie: Bo's right. I know you're mad at me, but you can't waste your emotional energy on me.

Hope: You've got to be kidding me.

Billie: It's not like I just jumped into Bo's car and said to myself, "gee, I think I'll go for a ride late at night in the dark and look for Zack Brady so I could run him down." It was an accident. I didn't see him. If I had, I would have stopped and called for immediate medical assistance. I confessed. I'm going to jail. The two of you need to do your best to put me behind you.. I will not be a part of your lives any longer. You two need to be there for each other -- that's the most important thing. Losing a child is unbearable -- especially for a mother. We have to remember that first because the most important thing we can do as parents is be there for our children and love them and protect them, no matter what. You two need to be there for Shawn...and for Chelsea. She's gonna need her father now more than ever after I go to jail. Be there for your children. Mourn your son... and don't let anything come between the two of you, especially now.

Hope: Believe me, nothing will. I can't be here. I can't even look at you.

Bo: I can't live this lie. It's wrong.

Billie: I know this is hard for you, Bo, but if you want to save your marriage, you don't have a choice.

***********************************************************

Lucas: I think you're prolonging the agony for Carrie, you know? You keep asking her for forgiveness. Just leave her alone. Let her move on with her life.

Austin: I can't do that. I love her. She loves me.

Lucas: Well, I know she used to love the man you used to be. But now that you're a corporate raider who will stop at nothing to destroy a company, I don't know about that, Austin. You did a number on all her employees. Now she knows that you don't give a damn about them. You fired everybody, down to the cleaning lady, and I read those e-mails. Those people used to adore her, and now they can't stand her. They hate her.

Austin: I'm sorry for that.

Lucas: Well, I don't think she's ever gonna forgive you. If you ask me, I think it's over between you two.

Austin: I am not a Corporate Raider. I tried to find out who the C.E.O. was, but I couldn’t.

Lucas: You tried, huh?

Austin: Wait. There was a time where you were going after Highstyle yourself.

Lucas: Absolutely, yeah, and I did my homework. I found out Carrie was the C.E.O. of Highstyle, and I backed off. That's the difference between me and you. I work for Titan. We're meticulous. We're thorough. We check out everything before we get involved with this stuff. But you -- what, you send Nicole? Completely unscrupulous. I can't even imagine Sami having anything to do with this. I mean, I wouldn't even go there. I'm sure they knew Carrie was the C.E.O. they just didn't want to tell you. They kept it from you.

Austin: How can you have such a low opinion of Sami if you ever really loved her?

Lucas: I did love her, and I'd be married to her right now if she didn't lie about everything in her life. You're supposed to be this noble, upright businessman, and you staff your company with manipulative witches like that? I guarantee both of them knew that Carrie was the C.E.O. of Highstyle.

Austin: They didn’t. Sami admitted to Carrie that she had her business card but never bothered to look at it.

Lucas: Oh, come on. You know Sami. She'd look at a used piece of tissue if it had something written on it. You know that Carrie wasn't buying it, and I wasn't, either. I think it's over between the two of you.

Austin: All right, and you couldn't be happier, could you?

***********************************************************

Sami: Look, Carrie, you're my sister so I want to be honest with you, even though I want to be loyal to Austin. I mean, I work for him.

Carrie: Okay. What?

Sami: Austin did try to find out who the C.E.O. was, but he didn't try very hard. I mean, he really wanted to act fast on this deal. He's a really good guy -- you know that -- but -- but he wanted to make this deal happen ASAP. So I guess it's really my fault. I'm the one who dropped the ball.

Carrie: How?

Sami: You put your business card in my address book. If I had just looked at it, after I picked myself up off the floor, I would have told him.

Carrie: Yeah.

Sami: But Nicole was pushing Austin constantly to do this deal, and Austin listens to her advice more than he does mine.

Carrie: Was something more than business going on between Austin and Nicole?

Sami: I hope not. I think Austin deserves better than someone like Nicole. But I definitely know that she is interested in him, and she's ruthless enough. I guess so is he. Look, Carrie, I'm sorry. Um, I guess Austin's been in New York for so long, swimming with the Corporate Sharks, that he's a different man than when he left Salem after he --

Carrie: Dumped you at the altar?

***********************************************************

Billie: I know this is hard for you, but you had to keep the truth from Hope.

Bo: The longer it takes to tell her, the deeper this lie gets.

Billie: Look at how she reacted when she thought you were being kind and sympathetic to me? If she finds out the truth about Chelsea, she'll never forgive you for signing that temporary license and letting her borrow your car.

Bo: You're not the guilty one. You shouldn't be punished. This shouldn't ruin your life.

Billie: Protecting our children is the most important thing. Chelsea would never recover if she went to jail, and that would ruin my life. I know how tough it is. I was there. And I will not let that happen to my daughter. It's not just the best way. It's the only way.

***********************************************************

Officer: What can we do for you, Mr. Lockhart?

Patrick: Well, I was thinking you might want to talk to me about your investigation on Billie Reed. I was the one she was supposedly rushing off to see when she hit Zack with Detective Brady's car.

Officer: So, did you have contact with her that night?

Patrick: No, that's the thing. There's something very wrong with her confession. I think there are a lot of discrepancies with her story.

Officer: Well, she's sticking to it. Miss Reed's statement is very straightforward. She admitted to taking Detective Brady's car from the hospital parking lot and driving to meet you. On the way to this meeting, she drove over Detective Brady's boy. She might have gotten away with it had it not been for the car being immobilized.

Patrick: Look, it doesn't make any sense that she would leave the scene because she was afraid of being caught and then confessing without anyone having any evidence that she was responsible.

Officer: We've got a confession. As far as P.D. is concerned, the case is closed.

***********************************************************

Hope: Chelsea. You came to see your mother, didn't you?

Chelsea: Did you go see her?

Hope: I had a lot of trouble just looking at her.

Chelsea: I'm so, so sorry, Hope. [Sniffles]

Hope: I know. I know. I know you feel terrible about what happened, honey.

Chelsea: I do -- more than you can ever know.

Hope: Oh, Chelsea. As hard as it is to believe, your mother killed my son -- your brother. She brutally ran him down and left him --

Chelsea: I never meant for this to happen! I never wanted Zack to die! [ Crying]

***********************************************************

Lucas: Would I like to see if there's something between me and Carrie? Yeah, sure. Why not?

Austin: Yeah, why not? Which makes we wonder if you didn't know I was going after Highstyle, and you just sat back, waiting for me to self-destruct.

Lucas: You can't pin that on me. If you're worried about that, why don't you check with the usual suspects -- Sami and Nicole. They got the hots for you. I'm sure they knew that Carrie was the C.E.O. of Highstyle.

Austin: No, they wouldn't do that to me. They knew how much I had riding on this deal. And I told them I did not want to get romantically involved.

Lucas: Oh, yeah, that really stopped them, right? Look, the point is as soon as I found out that Carrie still had a thing for you, I backed off. I did the right thing. Now I'm asking you to do the right thing -- stay out of Carrie's life. You had your chance with her, and you blew it. Don't make this harder for her than it already is.

Austin: [Chuckles] Wait a second. So you think she's just gonna transfer her feelings for me over to you? Are you serious? Are you serious? It doesn't work that way, Lucas.

Lucas: I just want to see her happy. I want to see her with the right guy, and I'll do everything in my power to make sure that happens.

Austin: Well, forget it, 'cause there is no way that I'm gonna walk away from the woman that I love.

***********************************************************

Sami: Those are not exactly the words I would have used, but thank you for the pithy summary of my lousy love life.

Carrie: I was just trying to finish what you were saying. I didn't mean to be mean.

Sami: I know you didn’t. We were talking about Austin and how he's changed.

Carrie: Well, maybe all the hurt and disappointment he felt because of what you did -- and what I did when I cheated with Mike -- I mean, that's a lot of pain to absorb. How can he not be different?

Sami: Yeah, you're right. [Exhales sharply] Look, I just feel so terrible about everything that I

did to come between the two of you all those years ago, and I would give anything to change how everything has turned out. I really would. And I guess you can't go back and fix things. You just have to move forward.

Carrie: Yeah. I heard what you said in the ladies' room at the restaurant in L.A.

***********************************************************

Sami: It's funny. I haven't thought about my sister in a long time, but it seems like her name is coming up a lot lately, and I actually spoke to her on the phone today.

Woman: Well, that's a start. At least she didn't hang up on you.

Sami: I guess that's true. It's just that the reason my sister and I don't get along is because of the man that I'm with tonight.

Woman: Don't tell me she was involved with him, too.

Sami: She was married to him, and I did everything I could to keep them apart. I told you it was complicated.

Woman: I'll say. But breaking up your sister's relationship doesn't seem to have made you very happy.

Sami: I realized all these horrible things had happened between us that there is no way it can ever be fixed, and I wish it could be different, but it can’t.

***********************************************************

Carrie: You had no idea that I was listening. I know you meant it.

Sami: Well, I'm really glad that you believe me. That means everything to me.

Carrie: You're being a good sister, Sami, and a good friend.

Sami: Thanks. [Exhales sharply] I'm really trying to be.

***********************************************************

Lucas: Oh, what? Now who's being unrealistic, huh? In case you haven't noticed, Austin, you can't walk away from Carrie. She's already walked away from you.

Austin: I don't think she has. Lucas, this isn't about some deal gone bad. This is about Carrie's future. Right now she's in a lot of pain, but she's not gonna know how she really feels until she calms down, gives me a chance, we sit down, and I explain everything to her..

Lucas: You tried to explain things to her. She's not buying any of it.

Austin: I don't blame her. How is it possible that I didn't know she was the C.E.O. of the company I was buying out? But you know what? It's the truth. She's gonna see that. She's gonna see that I never meant to hurt her. I will get her back, and do not stand in my way!

Lucas: You dream on. I guarantee there is no way you're gonna get Carrie back.

***********************************************************

Sami: Um, yeah, look. I was interested in Austin. [Sighs] He came back to Salem the day that Lucas left me at the altar, and he was the only one who stood by me. He -- he was my friend. I mean, maybe it was like a rebound thing, but then Kate wanted me to be accused of being a traitor to my country, and Austin was the one who made sure that I didn't end up on death row again.

Carrie: So he was your hero, and you decided you wanted a future with him again?

Sami: Why wouldn't I? But then you told me that you were interested in being with Austin again, and I backed off because I wanted to have a relationship with you, Carrie. I didn't want to lose my sister again.

Carrie: I have to admit I was suspicious of you. I mean, how could you really be happy for me and Austin when I knew that you were interested in him yourself.

Sami: I don't blame you for feeling that way. But I've been through a lot since you left, you know, with Austin and then Brandon and -- and Lucas, and, um, I would like to think that I have learned from my mistakes.

Carrie: I never thought the day would come when I could say this, but I actually -- I think that you're someone that I could trust.

Sami: Thank you for saying that. It means a lot to me. And I'm not gonna do anything to break that trust, Carrie.

Carrie: Good.

***********************************************************

Max: Come on, Marty. You're my agent and I love you, but you need to listen to me as a friend now. No, you're wrong. I have not lost my edge. No. No. I -- look, there's just a lot of things going on with my family right now. Man, I've seen more death here than I have on the racetrack. A real good family friend -- he died tragically when his car went off a bridge into a river. And then my older brother -- his baby boy just died tragically in a hit-and-run accident. Oh, look, I don't know. I-I could be ready by Spring. I don't know if I will be ready by Spring. Look, and I have my own garage here in Salem, and I'm thinking about building my own car. Yeah. I've already talked to some of the guys on the race team. They said that they would help me whenever I'm ready to start back up. Marty, the Sponsors -- you can handle the Sponsors, Marty. I know you. You're the smoothest talker around. Yeah, you are. Look, just tell them what happened. Tell them my situation, and they'll be more sympathetic. Then we'll get more press with my comeback. All right. Thanks, Marty. Thanks. Okay. No. I'll talk to you later. I got to run, so I'll talk to you later. Okay. [Sighs] Yeah, I'm gonna get press, all right. "Max Brady was indicted today for withholding information and obstructing justice in a hit-and-run accident that resulted in the death of his own nephew." Yeah, the sponsors are gonna come running. God, I hate being a part of this. But Chelsea has to take responsibility for her own actions... and tell the truth for herself. Even if it doesn't, the truth is gonna come out, anyway. It has to.. And then...how many more lives are gonna get ruined besides mine?

***********************************************************

Billie: I'd do anything for you, Chelsea... and Bo... no matter how you feel about me.

[Inhales deeply] But God help us if the truth comes out. All our lives will be destroyed.

***********************************************************

Patrick: Do you Officers have any corroborating evidence supporting Billie's confession?

Officer: No, but the D.A. doesn't think we need any, especially if she pleads guilty.

Patrick: All right. Do you have statements from anyone who saw Billie driving Bo's car that night?

Officer: No. And I canvassed the entire route that Billie would have taken from the hospital to the scene of the accident. As we said, with the confession, we really don't need any other evidence.

Patrick: I think I know how to get that proof I'm after.

***********************************************************

Hope: Chelsea, honey, it's not your fault. What Billie did has nothing to do with you.

Chelsea: [Crying] I'm so sorry.

Hope: I know. Come here. I know you are. It's gonna be a very difficult time for all of us.

[Inhales, exhales deeply] I lost my son. You could lose your mother to prison for a long time.

Chelsea: I don't want that to happen. I don't want anyone to suffer for this. [Sniffles]

Hope: I know you're not happy that you lost your license, but this is why I was so insistent on you finishing those driving classes before you got behind the wheel again. Oh, honey, God forbid you should ever be involved in anything like this.

Chelsea: I already have been. I was in the car the night my parents died in that accident.

[Sniffles] I lost everything that night, Hope. Believe me, I learned my lesson. I would never let anything like this happen.

Hope: I know. I know, honey.

***********************************************************

Bo: Chelsea... I can't do this anymore.

***********************************************************

John: Doc, you don't --

Marlena: Don't call me Doc! It isn't who I want to be anymore -- not ever again.

***********************************************************

Chelsea: I'm gonna go to prison.

Bo: This is out of my control.

Chelsea: Just let Billie take the blame. It's not like I asked her to do this.

***********************************************************

Hope: Billie deserves to be punished. There's no moving on until that happens.

***********************************************************

Bonnie: The reason you're doing all this for Shawn and Mimi -- because you know that Shawn is Claire's real daddy.
