Austin: This is between me and Nicole. Now, I'm sorry, but if you don't mind, we're in the middle of something.

John: No. Whatever he's doing is a lot more sophisticated than that.

Kate: Why is it so quiet all of a sudden?

Marlena: Whenever I see this picture or whenever I look at the photo album that John gave me, I-I have flashes of memory. It's nothing specific that I could tie together, but --

Alex: Marlena, listen to me. John is not a psychiatrist. Now, you think because he shows you a few pictures of the two of you together that it's going to lead to your recovery. My God, if it were that easy, we might as well throw a party right now and celebrate, because we have just discovered the cure for amnesia. Marlena, you went to Med School! You know better! It's not that simple!

John: Whoa. Sounds like the good doctor's losing it.

Kate: That doesn't sound much like the professional calm that one usually associates with a psychiatrist, does it?

John: [Chuckles]

Alex: Marlena, listen to me. These next few days are going to be critical to your recovery. You have to stay strong.

Marlena: I am being strong! I want to work it out with John...and I want to call him.

Alex: You can't call him. He's with Kate. You can't disturb them.

John: Yeah, right. Do you believe this guy? Now he won't let her call me.. I'm gonna stop that son of a bitch right now.

Kate: What are you gonna do?

John: Whatever it takes to get her back and make her my wife again. He's no psychiatrist. He's a damn charlatan who's hitting on my wife. I've got to get her away from him -- tonight.

Alex: Come on. Here's what I'd like you to do. I'd like you to go to bed, get a good night's sleep, and then in the morning if you still feel you need to have a conversation with John --

Marlena: I got it. [Beep] Hello.

John: Hello, Marlena.

Marlena: John. I was just talking about you.

John: That's okay. You're getting close.

Marlena: Yeah. John, I think it's lucky that you called.

Alex: Was it just lucky? I wonder.

Marlena: I was -- I was wondering if you could come over. I know it's late, but, well, I think there's some issues we could talk about.

John: Well, that sounds interesting. I'll be right there.

John: I think she's finally onto North.

John: Well, I mean he was right there within listening range, and she said, "we have issues to discuss."

Kate: Oh. Yeah, that does sound purposely cryptic, doesn't it?

John: That's what I thought. I want you to come with me.

Kate: Me? Why?

John: 'Cause of something you said earlier. As long as North is in the penthouse with Marlena, he may have something up his sleeve.

Kate: Do you think that he's up to something?

John: Absolutely, and we need to keep an eye on him -- watch his every move. Come on.

Kate: All right, if you want me to.

Austin: Sami, once Nicole and I come up with our campaign strategy, we'll let you know. Then you can help us. But in the meantime, we're under a deadline, and we don't have time to waste. So I will see you later at the apartment.

Sami: Should I have milk and cookies waiting for you?

Nicole: I'd love a martini with those cookies.

Austin: That's not funny.

Nicole: Sorry.

Sami: You shouldn't be alone with her. She's obviously got her own agenda.

Nicole: You want to bet it's the same as yours?

Austin: That's enough. That's enough. That's enough. This isn't a game between the two of you, and I'm not the prize. You know, we're not dating. When the three of us started working together, I thought I clearly set certain parameters up.

Sami: You did, and those parameters do not include you going out alone with her.

Nicole: Why do you care? Don't you have your sights set on Lucas now that he said he still loves you?

Sami: We're not getting back together. And how do you know that? Austin, did you tell her?

Nicole: I overheard your conversation.

Sami: You were eavesdropping.

Nicole: Whatever.

Austin: Okay, that's enough! That's enough. Okay, I am not gonna turn our business relationship into some imaginary love triangle. That is something that you two have got to understand.

Nicole: Actually, Austin, I have totally lost track of the business we were discussing.

Sami: Oh, yeah, right.

Nicole: You know what? If Sami's not gonna leave, I am, 'cause I have totally lost my appetite. Thank you.

Sami: [Scoffs]

Austin: Let's go. Let's go.

Sami: Look, Austin --

Austin: I will see you later at the apartment, okay?

Sami: Thank God.

Austin: What is that supposed to mean?

Sami: I'm just relieved that I'm allowed to go back to my own apartment. Okay. Well, Nicole may have won the battle, but she is not gonna win the war.

Maggie: Sami, I think that's a big mistake.

Maggie: Sami, I thought you were in love with Lucas.

Sami: I am, and he still loves me.

Maggie: Well, then?

Sami: He doesn't want to be with me, and I'm not gonna make a fool of myself chasing after him. I have to move on with my life.

Maggie: I agree. But, honey, going after Austin is a big mistake.

Sami: Look, Austin was the first love of my life, and he deserves better than to be with Nicole. I don't want to spend the rest of my life alone. I lost Austin. I lost Lucas. What am I supposed to do?

Maggie: Sami, first of all, I think you're being way too dramatic. There's a big world out there with more than two men living in it. And, second, you're getting yourself in a situation like I was with Mickey and Bonnie. I mean, if you get caught up in a love triangle, well, trying too hard could be the kiss of death. You know what? It would be better for you to stand back, let your competition self-destruct, if that's what it's meant to be.

Sami: No. Maggie, you don't understand. Nicole will have Austin for dessert. No, no. I have to do something. I-I can't take that chance.

[Door opens]

Maggie: Well...

Shawn D.: I think I do. It's 'cause you didn't have your child with me that you have postpartum depression. But you can't go on like this. It's not healthy for you, for your baby, or for Philip. You can't keep lying to your husband or to yourself. You won't be able to bond with your daughter until you are honest about how you really feel.

Austin: [Sighs] You're tenacious, I'll tell you that. You never give up.

Nicole: Is that a problem?

Austin: No. No. That's why I'm glad I hired you. I'm still not gonna answer your question.

Sami: It's because. If he came back in town for anyone, it's me, not you..

Nicole: Okay. If you won't deny it, then Sami is the one you came back for, right?

Austin: My love life is between me and the woman that I love. And, anyway, now is not the time for me to be involved with anyone. I'm focused on my career and our business.

Nicole: Okay, wait. I'm confused here. So there is a woman that you love.. It's just now is not the time to be serious.

Nicole: Well, obviously, this woman doesn't know that you love her, so until you get your business up and running...

Austin: She'll never know who she is, and I won't give her a hint.

Nicole: [Sighs] I don't know if you're talking about me or Sami or someone else.

Sami: Give it a break, Nicole. He's not in love with you.

Alex: This isn't a good idea, John. What the hell do you think you're doing? It's late. Marlena needs her rest.

Marlena: No. It's more important that I talk to John. I'm a little surprised you're here.

Alex: [Scoffs] Well, what did you expect? John's living with her now. She's still in love with him. She's not about to let him out of her sight.

John: I asked her to come along as a friend.

Kate: I'm concerned about Marlena just the way John is.

John: So, why did you call me? Are you getting your memory back?

Marlena: Well, no, not exactly. I still have amnesia, but I -- you know I was getting some memory flashes and -- and feelings that I couldn't explain. And I was hoping that if we could talk, it might help some.

John: I'll do whatever I can. I only want what's best for you. Could you keep the good doctor entertained while I speak with Marlena out on the terrace in private?

Alex: I don't buy that for a second. A man you were just recently engaged to? Come on. The truth is you still love him. You want him back.

John: Well, I'm glad to hear that. Look, I'm gonna be completely honest with you. I talked to Tim. earlier, and I'm the one who sent him here to speak with you.

Marlena: No, I'm very grateful. Thank you.

John: Well, good. Good. Look, now that you've changed your mind about the divorce, I'd like us to have a second chance.

Marlena: How did you know that I changed my mind about the divorce?

Alex: Because he was listening. [Scoffs] What, the binoculars weren't enough, John? You had to bug the entire penthouse? What did you do -- put listening devices in the wall outlets, cameras in the light fixtures? You accuse me of manipulating her. You're the one who's been doing the manipulating all along. I was right about him. He's deceiving you.

Belle: Well, I saw her in the hallway. She looked really upset. What's up? Is it because of the baby?

Shawn D.: It's about a lot more than that. I mean, Claire's fine. She's asleep. Did you want to see her?

Belle: No. Uh, just let her sleep. Did you and Mimi have a fight?

Shawn D.: No.

Belle: Then what happened?

Shawn D.: Why are you so obsessed with this?

Belle: I just want you to talk to me as a friend.

Shawn D.: Yes, Mimi is very upset because she cannot have a baby of her own. And she doesn't think that anything can happen between -- or should happen between the two of us because, if anything were to go somewhere, she thinks that we would regret it.

Belle: Because she can't have children and knows you want them.

Shawn D.: Exactly. And she doesn't even want to date.

Belle: What do you think?

Shawn D.: I think that she shouldn't give up on us, but she didn't want to hear that. She just kept beating herself up.

Belle: Her self-esteem must be at an all-time low right now.

Shawn D.: Yeah. She thinks that I should be with a woman who can have a child -- a relationship where I could have a future and a family. And I tried to tell her that she's wrong.

Belle: No, she's right. Mimi's right.

John: This is a private conversation. You know, the only reason I have put up with you is because of her. And in a couple of seconds, I'm gonna forget all about that. And then you won't have to worry about following up on your restraining order because your jaw will be wired shut.

[Inhales, exhales deeply] No. No cameras in the penthouse. No listening surveillance systems in your chandelier. I'm just concerned about you. And that's the reason that I called Tim. I wanted him to come over here to try to convince you not to go through with the divorce. So when you called me, I thought -- I was hopeful that you had changed your mind about the divorce, because I'm convinced that Alex North put that thought in your head to begin with.

Marlena: He did... because he wanted to protect me.

John: Protect you from the man who loves you more than anyone else in this world?

Marlena: He says he loves me, too.

John: [Scoffs]

Marlena: All I have to do is decide who I believe. It's pretty confusing, John.

John: I'm not the one confusing you. I'm just trying to show you the truth, and the truth is I still love you.

Marlena: I hope that's true. And I hope Alex is wrong and you're not spying on me.

Kate: Obviously John showed you the door. I guess he's making progress, huh?

Alex: Which means that you could lose him, and don't tell me that'll make you happy. Your marriage to Roman is over. You've been trying to rekindle your relationship with John.

Kate: No. Actually, I haven’t. John and I were together when we thought Roman and Marlena were dead. But when they came back, then John belonged with Marlena, and I belonged with Roman.

Alex: Well, it certainly didn't work out for you, now, did it? Tell me something, Kate. Why did you ask John to move in with you? I mean, that speaks a lot.

Kate: Because Marlena had asked him to leave the penthouse, and he was angry, and he was upset, and it was a way to be there for each other during a difficult period in both of our lives. But whatever might have been for the two of us had to be over because he has Marlena back.

Alex: He doesn't have her back yet.

Kate: But she's his wife, and he loves her more than anything. So no matter what you try to do to prevent it, she is going to get her memory back, and then they're going to be together. So, why don't you try being an adult and accept that the way that I have and get the hell out of Marlena's life?

Austin: I'll tell you what. Um, wow, this is awkward. Uh, I'll split the difference with you. It's a date, but not a romantic one.

Nicole: Whoo. There is hope for me yet.

Austin: Oh, come on. We have to get to know each other again. We're working together, and we just have to learn how each other's minds work.

Nicole: And bodies, too.

Austin: What?

Nicole: Mind and body go hand in hand, so I have to know when you're tired or upset, so I can see the look on your face, the way your body moves, the way your head hangs, the way you clench your fist or drop your shoulders, you know, so I know how to approach you. [Chuckles] Really, that's all I meant, I promise.

Austin: [Clears throat]

Nicole: Austin, of course I want to get closer in every way.

Austin: Sounds that way.

Nicole: You know, and if I am the girl you're interested in... we can just consider this part of our courtship. And if it's another woman, like Sami, I'll just have to show you how wrong she is for you.

John: Let's get back to Dr. Alex North. You barely know the man. Do you actually believe that he loves you?

Marlena: [Chuckles] You make it sound like he needs psychiatric help.

John: Oh, I'm quite sure that he does. The I.S.A. has trained me in analytical psychology, so I'm not as clueless as Dr. North would like to make me out to be. Then again, it doesn't take a degree to see that you have been used and manipulated. Everybody can see it, especially those who love you. I hate the fact that I brought that man into your life, and I would feel horrible if anything happened to you, so listen. There's no need to be confused anymore. Now, I don't know what the hell his agenda is, but I know mine, and that is I want my wife back. We shared a love that was so powerful, nothing could keep us apart. We literally have overcome every single obstacle, and this one is just one more obstacle to overcome.

Austin: I don't know. Well, it's, uh, probably none of our business.

Nicole: It sounded like a bear or a wolf or something.

Austin: I don't think any wild animals like that are around here.

Sami: Ha ha ha. I overheard you telling Austin that he shouldn't tell anyone I work for him because it would be bad for business. Well, what if everyone found out about that flesh-eating bacteria you gave Chloe? What if Austin found out? How would that be for business?

Nicole: That was your idea. Austin would never want anything to do with you if he knew.

Sami: You are all grown up, and you made your own decision. Anyway, Austin knows that I was Stan, and he is still my friend. But if he found out how incredibly vicious you are, well, I think he'd dump you so fast it would make your head spin.

Nicole: Oh, my God. It's Austin. He's coming back.

Sami: Well, maybe I should stick around, nurse Nicole, hang out with you guys.

Nicole: Austin -- if he finds out that you followed us, he will -- not happy.

Nicole: Me? No. I heard that noise again, and I thought I'd just shoo it away, if that's what you mean. Austin, listen. I really don't want this evening to end, so how about I treat you to a hot-fudge sundae at the Java Café?

Austin: I think I'd like that. Sounds good.

Nicole: [Chuckles] Oh, actually, you know, can you pay? I don't have any money.

Austin: That is all about to change very soon.
